title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Tearing off another year on the calendar, wow. The year 2012 doesn’t seem like we could really have that year rolling up on us.

I mean most of the outer space movies from the 50′s and 60′s didn’t go that far into the future. I don’t think Rod Serling with his Twilight Zone TV show traveled that deep into the land beyond beyond.

Nevertheless, this is the mile post coming up on us.

We’ve sure traveled along way from 1776. Sometimes I wonder what the folks back then would say about this country if they could see it now. No doubt that there’s been a lot of accomplishments in medicine, agriculture, living comfort, communication and much, much more.

I kind of wonder if we haven’t been traveling in two directions though at the same time. While we have been experiencing these advances in everyday life, sometimes faster than we can absorb and comprehend I think it seems like as a society we’ve also be moving backwards.

Today there are so many people that know less about this country and how it began and what it is that makes America different than the rest of the world and why.

Back in 1776 the struggle was for freedom and liberty, today its to knock down the doors and people charging into the mall for a pair of Air Jordan’s. Somehow it just seems that we might be a little off track.

2012 is going to present another presidential election and some state elections, too. It would be nice if there could be a turnout of voters at the polls equal to the numbers of people who right after Thanksgiving dinner bolted out of the house with tent, sleeping bag and pepper spray in hand heading for the all night vigil outside the shopping malls. But then considering the mentality of some people maybe it wouldn’t be a good thing.

“We’re developing a new citizenry. One that will be very selective about cereals and automobiles, but won’t be able to think.” ― Rod Serling

Lets pray for a better New Year.

Jim and Margie
Ammoland.com)- Don’t forget the next 2nd Amendment Patriot meeting is this coming Saturday Oct. 29th.

It’s hard to believe that we are coming up on a full thirteen years since this movement started.

No one back in January of 1999 could have imagined all the accomplishments this group of patriotic citizens would be making. I think back about all of the guests we’ve had over the years including the Lt. Governor and all the many legislators both federal, state and local.

We have had countless candidates as well for every imaginable race from local to federal. Then there are all of the many guests over the years that spoke about so many different topics of interests and had so much information to share.

It was the 2nd Amendment Patriots that turned out the largest number of shooters for a single weekend shoot for the Appleseed program of any state. I think that record still stands.

Along with all that are all the pro gun legislation that the folks of the 2nd Amendment Patriots assisted in getting passed into law by working with state legislators. We don’t want to forget the events that made the news, like the Armed Forces Day and Bill of Rights Day celebrations where we brought attention to historic days on our calendars that don’t get the attention they once did.

The number one thing about this group of people is all the friendships that were made over the years. People who never would have met each other have made lasting relationships as a result of this movement. It has also brought about a great deal of inspiration to become involved and to see what happens when people do STAY UNITED.

I know over the years some have come and some have gone, but for the most part folks have stayed in for the long haul and new folks have come on board. We miss the ones who have drifted away, but are encouraged by the many who still attend the meetings and also the new faces we see each month.

Anoesis is a word defined as a state of mind consisting of pure sensation or emotion without cognitive content. That is a marked characteristic of the liberal sector of society that is imbedded throughout the population.

Thankfully, we have folks like those within the 2nd Amendment Patriots that help keep a balance in what the Framers of our Constitution envisioned.

Thank you very much Patriots. We look forward to seeing you Saturday. Margie wants me to ask folks to bring their favorite soup (no chili this time) for the meal and any desserts and soda pops would be most welcomed.

“The experience of all former ages had shown that of all human governments, democracy was the most unstable, fluctuating and short-lived.” John Qunicy Adams

Jim and Margie
Ammoland.com)- I don’t know how the brave souls who set out to establish a nation that would have so much liberty and freedom could have kept the momentum up during the Revolutionary War to see it through to the end, but they did.

I’m sure they had plenty of folks who were not all that interested in establishing this Country and its marvelous standards. I guess over the years those who know the meaning and importance of freedom and personal protection were able to pass that knowledge on to the next generations, but somewhere along the line there was a disconnect.

We have an entire society today, that stands in line waving their hands in the air asking for someone in authority to relieve them of their dignity, liberty and any and all personal rights.

All that’s required in exchange is just a feel good promise that they’ll be kept safe and protected, no guarantee or warranty necessary. Just a nice friendly smile and a fuzzy wuzzy presentation on why we need to give away our protections because bad people do bad things and presto everything will be hunky dory.

I’ve been in the presence of people who I just described. Why wouldn’t they be willing to give up their personal freedoms, they’ve never lived without them so they can’t appreciate what it is they have until it’s gone.

I’ve traveled the world and I’ve experienced the terror in a war zone and I’ve seen how people cope with life in countries that only wish they had what we have in the USA.

Our threat of losing a little bit here and a little be there every day is more than a threat, it’s a reality. Sometimes it manifests itself in such an insidious manner that many could never understand why a freedom seeking person would ever object to what is presented to be in our best interest.

Some claim they are concerned what their children will inherit. Really? That’s curious, because some of those very people are the ones who are packaging a freedom-less future for their children and its all wrapped in a “keep you safe and secure” ribbons and bows gift box.

This letter is not a form of venting, it’s just a personal observation. Lastly, I want to remind everyone again that our next 2nd Amendment Patriot meeting will be Sept. 24th.

“Loss of freedom seldom happens overnight. Oppression doesn’t stand on the doorstep with toothbrush moustache and swastika armband — it creeps up insidiously… step by step, and all of a sudden the unfortunate citizen realizes that it is gone.”
Ammoland.com)- I your are reading this them most likely this does not pertains to you, but I will bet a dollar to a dog biscuit that there’s a bunch out there that it does.

Right now in Indiana we’ve had a pretty good year with a hard stand in the General Assembly to protect the rights of citizens. It wasn’t easy though. In my case alone with SB 506 on letting folks transport a handgun in their vehicle without a license and in particular SB 292 which put the clamps on local governments from enacting more gun control and not only that, but stripped away everything that was on the books before July 1st of this year, I know what the forces at play put forth.

Here’s the reason I’m writing this letter. I received a memo from Indiana Senator John Broden. It explains that the Board of Park Commissioner in his district in the South Bend area are concerned about SB 292 which is now law.

They want the legislature to come back and make some changes and modifications so that their city park can be exempt from people having firearms in it. Just like it was when I was presenting that bill, the opposition imagined all sorts of scenarios of shootouts in their parks.

I have to wonder what that city did before this bill of mine became law.

Did they have metal detectors at all the park entrances?

Were there strip searches for those who came there for a picnic?

How many shootouts did they have over the years?

Is it better that a mother would not have the ability to protect herself and children at a city park?

I have no intentions of giving an inch on reversing the effects of SB 292. Taking steps to roll back peoples constitutional right is not an option on my watch.

But here is the kink. How many citizens in Indiana will take a stand of their own to face off with those who never rest, never let an opportunity go by to turn the screws? One of the most frustrating occurrences I have faced in the 13 years we’ve been involved in the 2nd Amendment Patriots, is how often folks will just drift away.

I used to keep track of all the reasons why some no longer attend a meeting or writes a letter or makes a phone call, but they began to pile up so I just quit keeping record.

You need to turn it back on the enemys of freedom.

The facts must be acknowledged, they cannot be ignored. The resistance we face is always present. Those who want control on liberty and freedom do not rest! I maintain that those in South Bend, and I get letters from other parts of the state mostly in the very northern part, who oppose the rights that are expressed in our state and national constitution, will mobilize and bring pressure on some state legislators to dismantle SB 292.

They could be successful, too.

It’s all up to the rest of us who are willing to stay in the fight, ramp up our determination and for some to come back into the ranks again.

There’s more to making a stand to preserve our liberty that pecking away on a keyboard engaged in mass mail forwarding.

It’s a freedom of choice. We can stay home, lay out and pretend that someone else is doing the work, that someone else is the pounding beat or we can take a look in the mirror and ask if the person looking back is pulling their weight.

If you want to call the folks at the South Bend Parks & Recreation Department and let them know your thoughts about their concerns you can call: 574-299-4765

Phillips L. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- I just want to remind everyone that our 2nd Amendment Patriot meeting will be this Saturday at 6 PM at the West Side Sportsman’s Club. We will have a presentation from fellow Patriot Janet.

Margie and I just got back from a trip across country to Ogden ,Utah and all points in between, 3553 miles round trip. The destination was to see the John Browning museum in Ogden. It was worth it and so was all the landscape between here and there.

It was also another chance to check the pulse on folks in other parts of the country. I got to tell you, there’s reason to take comfort and at the same time to be concerned. I’ll talk a little about that at our meeting, too.

I’ve had a very busy summer accepting speaking engagements throughout the state and across state lines. I love it.

Margie is asking folks to bring their favorite summer meal for the pot luck dinner. Don’t forget soda pops and desserts. Thanks everybody.

We’ll see you on Saturday.

Jim and Margie<br

Bryan also gave a very informative explanation on the recent Indiana Supreme Court ruling in the Barnes case.

I know that Bryan was impressed with the questions that were asked, but I had told him in advance that the people that are part of this group are not your average bears and that they are well informed on many issues. It was nice to see Bryan get a standing ovation and we hope that he will visit us again.
<div

Your generosity is immeasurable. Thanks to all of you who have made this group a success now going on 13 years. We also were glad to see more candidates who came last night to introduce themselves. It’s nice that those running for office make the Patriots meeting one of their stops on the campaign trail.

We’ll see you in July.

Jim and Margie
2ndamendmentpatriots.org

Indianapolis, IN - -(Ammoland.com)- I had hoped to just observe the process on my first term, but was encouraged to introduce some bills.

So I did. Indiana is a very gun friendly state, but there can always be improvement.

I introduced two bills; SB 292, which is a preemption measure which not only will prohibit local units of government from enacting any gun laws that are outside of state law, but will remove all those that already exist. The other was SB 506 which will provide for citizens that do not have a handgun carry license to transport a handgun in their vehicle to designated places.

Though SB 292 was filed first, SB 506 was the first to get passed. It was a significant piece of legislation and probably would have received more resistance than what it did had it not been for the former.

The following is the course that SB 292 endured through the legislative process. First it starts out as an idea; one that I felt was long overdue. The idea is presented to what is called LSA, (Legislative Services Agency). This is a non partisan body of attorneys that put an idea into a form of a bill.

The bill was then filed in the clerk’s office. The senate leadership then decides if the bill merits a hearing called a first reading, if so it will be assigned a committee hearing. In this case the bill was assigned to a committee that I was a member.

This is referred to as a “hearing” at which public testimony is accepted. I presented the bill and those who oppose or support the bill may speak on it. Then a vote is taken, if it passes, which in this case it did, it will move to its second reading in front of the full senate. At this point there is much debate and dialog. This is where the author of the bill must explain the purpose of the bill and be able to counter all of the opposition from senate members who hope to defeat the bill or amend it.

There were no amendments added to the bill in the second reading and it was then scheduled for a third reading where the author explains the bill briefly and it still can be debated but no changes can be made generally and is then put up for a roll call vote. The bill passed 38 to 12 out of the Senate and then it heads for the House and starts the whole process all over again.

A state representative who is willing to sponsor the bill on the House side will take it from there. In this case the bill received a lot of amendments. By this time SB 292 had received a lot of media attention as well as opposition from several groups who did not want this bill to pass. I even got called by Alan Colmes from New York and interviewed by the New York Times. This bill became very controversial. It’s noteworthy to note that there was much support for the bill as well including some teacher’s organization that sent e-mails to legislators asking them to support SB 292 in its original form.

When the bill came back to me from the House with all those amendments I dissented on it because there was no way I would shove that off onto the citizens.

The bill then was assigned to a conference committee where it once again was open for public testimony. Afterwards the changes are worked out. The bill was put into its original form with one exception. Then the bill is sent to a rules committee and this was on the final day of the session with just hours before the end of session also called sine die. Once again I had to bring the bill before the Senate for one last time and explain the bill and what changes it may have received. Again it is open for debate and those in the senate who oppose it have one last chance to kill the bill. Another roll call vote is made and in this case it passed 40 to 10.

The bill is now passed over to the House for a final vote. The hope is that it will make it before the clock runs out. SB 292 passed the House 70 to 24. As I write this letter I am hoping that the bill will be signed by the Governor.

The lesson in all this is that gun owners must be persistent and never submit to those negative comments that “nothing can be done” or “it will never happen.”

I never once was willing to back down on what I knew was the right thing to do.

Jim and Margie
2ndamendmentpatriots.org

Indianapolis, IN --(AmmoLand.com)- It seems like things are getting ugly with getting HB 1065, the carry to the workplace bill, moved to passage.

HB 1065 has been in the meat grinder going on two months now and it was supposed to get a second reading in the senate Monday. Weather was a factor on Monday’s postponement.

Pro Tem Sen. Long did not let Sen. Steele proceed with the bill because of some technicality, which has me concerned about the effect the Chamber of Commerce lobbyists and their unrelenting pressure they are applying on senators is having.

The bill is now scheduled to be heard on Thursday. The situation is that the longer it’s delayed the more time the C of C and various business opponents have to brow beat some senators into submission. You may ask where our side is. Well, first let me say that the NRA lobbyist, Ashley Varner, has almost taken up residence in the State House over the past several weeks. She’s been keeping me posted on the proceedings. Also, our good friends with the ISRP have been updating us.

It’s now getting real nasty with the opposition demanding ridiculous amendments and consuming time, with our friends working to deny them or remove those amendments. For those fighting to kill this bill with chains of burdensome amendments it’s gone beyond logic, reason and prudence.

I might ask what have each of us has done for the cause. Have you made a call into your particular senator and encouraged them to pass this bill? It just takes a simple toll free call that will use up all of two minutes to do. These guys have got to know that this thing is being watched by people other that C of C lobbyists. You have no idea the power you hold. All you have to do is use it. The number is 1-800-382-9467 and I’ll bet your phone is as close as your pocket.

I was told by one of our sources last night that Governor Daniels was speaking to a group of Chamber of Commerce people in Bloomington. In all of the questions and issues he fielded someone asked him about HB 1065. I was told that his response was that if the bill would come to his desk he’s not sure if he would sign it because it’s a situation where property rights meet individual rights.

There are two things to consider here. First, there was Constitution long before there was Chamber of Commerce. I fully support property rights, but in this case the rights are being extended beyond the property in question because polices prohibiting a person from exercising their Constitutional right to have a firearm locked in their vehicle while at work means they are bound to be in transit to and from the workplace unarmed. Secondly, Constitutional rights trumps arbitrary individual policies.

Now, if the Governor does not want to commit to supporting this bill because he’s standing in the waters of people who oppose it, that would be his prerogative. A friendly call or e-mail to the Governor’s office to support this bill would be very helpful. If he chooses not to sign this bill it’s one thing, just so he doesn’t veto it. If the bill does make it to his desk and he chooses not to sign it and he takes no action, on the eighth day after it’s presented to him it automatically will become law. It will then be filed with the Secretary of State within 10 days of presentment and even if it’s failed to be filed, it will still become law.

I’ve received a report that the Senate Democrats walked out Tuesday over a controversial spending bill introduced by Sen. Errington (D) and did not return to session and may not come back Thursday which would push HB 1065 farther down the calendar.

Jim and Margie
Anchorage Second Amendment Task Force

Anchorage, AK --(AmmoLand.com)- You, the citizens of the great State of Alaska, are cordially invited to participate in A Rally of Patriots in support of our unalienable right to keep and bear arms as affirmed by our constitution! This rally will take place on Monday April 19th, 2010, statewide, in a city near you.

The date April 19th has been chosen to coincide with the anniversary of the Revolutionary War Battles of Lexington and Concord. On this date, also, in Washington D.C., a million-person-plus participant march is scheduled to take place at the Washington Monument. Further information on the Washington D.C. event can be found online at http://secondamendmentmarch.com

Following the rally, there will be a parade of patriots. We encourage all to participate. The open carry of weapons, as always, is your choice and responsibility.

There are no age restrictions for this event, and parents are strongly encouraged to bring their children of all ages for their memorable participation, even though this date may be a school day.

Revolutionary War era clothing and costumes are encouraged! We respectfully discourage the wearing of camouflage, BDU, or other para-military clothing or uniform items out of respect for our uniformed military members.

After the rally and parade, there will be a potluck/covered dish cookout for guests and event participants.

Free copies of our Constitution and other pertinent information will also be available. These will be provided to empower and inform Alaskans as to their unalienable Second Amendment and Citizens’ rights.

The purpose and goal of this inaugural rally will be to reacquaint Alaskans with the intent of our forefathers when the Second Amendment was added to our Constitution, and to familiarize citizens with current state laws concerning open and concealed weapons carry.

As citizens, we understand the carry of weapons is a right to be exercised in a safe and lawful manner and that each of us is accountable for our individual actions. We respectfully request you share this vision with the children and all other potential event guests and participants.

Representative journalists from the print, audio, and video mediums will receive written invitations to these events, but you are also encouraged to write your own letters to the editor and otherwise pass the word about the important April 19, 2010 events.

Please direct your event RSVPs, and/or questions to the Anchorage 2nd Amendment Task Force, with an e-address of: anchorage2atf@gmail.com . The Alaska State event point of contact for the day’s activities will be Len Betts, kl7lb@yahoo.com, 907-373-5413.

About:
The mission of The Anchorage Second Amendment Task Force is to provide Alaskans with the knowledge of the meaning and true purpose of the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution, with which they may conduct themselves as responsible citizens of our republic. class="wp-caption-text">2ndamendmentpatriots.org

Indianapolis, IN --(AmmoLand.com)-Last night Margie and I attended the Posey County Lincoln Day Dinner. I was asked to speak about the 2nd Amendment Patriots. Afterwards all of the candidates for office who were present were invited up to introduce themselves.

I,too, was invited because I had made it known that I’ve taken steps to run for the Indiana State Senate seat in District 49 on the Republican ticket. This office is currently being held by Democrat Bob Deig.

There will be a Republican primary for this race so Margie and I hope that we can get help in this endeavor.

I campaigned in 2004 for a House race and we clearly remember the effort and commitment it took. I don’t make this decision lightly and Margie and I intend to put forth the same level of work now as we did 5 years ago. We sincerely hope that all of you will keep us in your prayers and any help will be appreciated. We thank you.

I’ll have more to report at our 2nd Amendment Patriot meeting on Saturday Oct. 31st and in future letters.

Speaking of Patriot meeting you won’t want to miss this one. I think there is going to be an interesting visitor.

Unrelated to the visitor we may have at our next meeting I did receive a letter from Congressman Ellsworth’s scheduler this week. She wrote to say that the Congressman has received several requests from members of the 2nd Amendment Patriots to attend a meeting. She was asking about the October meeting and the date of our November meeting. I don’t know yet when we can expect him, but I will let you know as soon as I hear back. The postcards that you all filled out at our last meeting at least got their attention.

Lastly, I want to mention that Mike Sandefur with the Freedom Maker Organization is looking for help at manning the table at the Owensboro, KY gun show this weekend.
The show starts at 9:00 AM on Sat and Sun. The location is Sportscenter, just off W. Parrish Ave. behind the National Guard Armory. If you can help call Mike at 812-449-5695. Thanks.

We look forward to seeing all of you at the next 2nd Amendment Patriots meeting on Oct. 31st at 6 PM at the West Side Sportsman’s Club. Margie said it will soup night or something to go with it. No chili, that will be for another time.

Jim and Margie
2ndamendmentpatriots.org

Indianapolis, IN --(AmmoLand.com)- Today, Constitution Day marks 222 years ago when 39 brave men signed our Constitution. What would they say about our current government? Can you imagine trying to accomplish what happened on Sept. 17th, 1787 with today’s elements that either hold office or are running for office?

Having nearly 500 e-mail recipients is no army, but it’s a start. Here in Indiana it will make a fine “company”. I hope that we can continue to build on this force and it will take each and everyone of us to apply ourselves in the coming weeks to set events in play for the coming election next year.

It is our hope that folks in every state will begin preparing for their own elections. Here in Indiana with the pipeline we now have linking the northern part of Indiana like South Bend, Elkhart and Ft. Wayne with the southern part such as Vanderburgh, Gibson, Warrick, Pike, Posey and many other counties, we have the ability to apply some control on these races. I know we also have many of our brothers and sisters in the mid part of the state on board with us now.

I’m asking that all of you on this e-mail list and those to whom you forward my letters to, to get yourselves mentally prepared to participate in setting in motion the events of the next several months that will benefit gun owners and Americans in general here in Indiana.

We will need to rely on ourselves and each other to provide that we have the absolute best candidates or incumbents running for office, even if it means to create primaries in order to have qualified individuals to vote for. We must not allow this opportunity to pass us by.

To simply be satisfied with “someone running” is not an option. Failure to actively and aggressively pursue the most qualified and worthy candidates who understand our Constitution will result in another long line of battles that we don’t want to have to fight.

I strongly advise that we continue to bring people on board and invite them to connect with us through our website and add themselves to this e-mail list. Simple go to www.2ndamendmentpatriots.org and click on E-mail list sign up and follow the simple instructions.

Regardless of where you live and in particular here in Indiana find out all you can about those candidates. At this time I will not make a judgment call on any particular candidate, but I have been following some. We can make a clear determination on incumbents that have held office. Too many of them have failed miserably in restraining themselves to operate within the Constitution and serve admirably. THEY MUST BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE TO WHICH THEY HAVE DISGRACED.

This is it folks, lets not mess it up. Gun owners must demand that those seeking office explain their understanding or lack of understanding of the Second Amendment.

Again, I refer you to Rachel Grubb’s website http://www.politicalgateway.com/cand.php?id=1496&isid=2081&page=issue . She is on this e-mail list. I hope she does not mind me using her site as an example, but having the courage to publicly state her position is exactly what I’m talking about. This lady does not need coaching. It’s how she feels.

The one thing that makes me grind my teeth is when I hear someone answer me a question about the Second Amendment with, “well I like to hunt or my family always believed that people have the right to hunt”.

Indiana has some real good defenders of gun rights currently in office, we must not lose them. We also have some who work the system and never openly promote gun rights, but simply hold back in the shadows and will reluctantly cast a “good vote” just for the sake of getting a rating for the next election cycle.

We don’t need to exchange that type of hypocrite with a new hypocrite. At our 2nd Amendment Patriot meeting this month we will write out postcards to the gentleman who was happy to be in the presence of everyone or group he could reach during the campaign cycle.

But now Rep. Ellsworth has joined the elite and he and his staff have done a terrific job of keeping a barrier between him and us “menial” electorates.

Even though Mr. Ellsworth may not read our postcards personally, someone in the food chain will see them. It’s just one more small turn of the screw that we can inflict and if we all make that turn, at some point pain will set in on the intended. If a person seeks office and is elected they are indebted to physically present themselves to whom it was they sought that office in the first place.

Jim and Margie
2ndamendmentpatriots.org

Indianapolis, IN --(AmmoLand.com)- I can’t speak for everyone who lives in this country, but I’ll bet all those who receive these e-mails are and we now have nearly 500 direct recipients on our e-mail list. It’s the most delusional politician who has the frame of mind that they know more that those whom they are to serve.

Be it a former sheriff from Indiana or a third rate comedian from Minnesota these and many like them seem to be afflicted with the belief that just by virtue of being the person who won an election they automatically are bestowed with an endless display of imaginary diplomas and degrees that somehow make them qualified to make decisions that affect the personal lives of the masses.

Last week I encountered our Indiana state senator who represents the district we live in. I reminded him that he has a standing invitation to attend a 2nd Amendment Patriot meeting. I have offered him and our state representative the same invitation since they’ve held office. We still are waiting.

During the conversation the senator mentioned that he could never support a carry on campus. He must have told me that a half a dozen times over the years. He has made it clear that he could not support any legislation that would allow citizens to have the ability to protect themselves under the Second Amendment in areas he deems off limits to guns. However, he was quick to mention that this past General Assembly he did vote for Sen. Nugent’s SB. 11 which would have allowed carry to the work place.

That was the second time he was quick to announce that. The first was earlier this year at a Meet Your Legislator meeting. At the time I let him know that it was curious that out of the 8 senators who voted against that bill his name was not on the list.

I knew then why he voted for the bill and while we were speaking last Friday he accidentally let it slip when he again told me he voted for that bill. After he so proudly told me of his vote I stated to him that Speaker of the House, Pat Bauer, had no intention of allowing that bill to get a hearing in the Democrat controlled House. The senator quickly acknowledged in his own words,” I know”, but with the look of a deer in the headlights he immediately followed with, “but I did vote for it”.

He voted for it because his cronies at the statehouse assured him that the bill would go nowhere but it would allow him to get a favorable rating from the NRA. We’re going to see this posturing procedure unfold in this coming election and I will have some specifics to report on this in the near future.

This senator like so many other legislators must have the impression that we are all country bumpkins. We’ve even seen this lately on the news where some legislators demonstrate the pompous and impudent attitudes to their constituents.

Dear people this is our time coming. Here in Indiana and other states across the country the ritual of another election cycle has begun. This is our watch. It is our assignment to begin a change that no one can turn back.

Some people have announced their candidacy for office and some incumbents are getting ready to fight to hold those offices. What is our duty? What is our obligation?

First, we’re obliged to know all we can about those who have put themselves in play. We need people of our choosing to remain in office or to replace those who need to be replaced in the worst way.

Don’t let any political party or political strategist make that selection for you! It’s your call and you make it. We need people that have some armor plating. We need people that have the leather to stand up to the liberals that have driven this country down to the level we’re now swimming in.

We can’t afford to elect some milk toast ambiguous individual to replace some milk toast ambiguous incumbent. There are hard charging people out there who say what they mean and don’t have any inhibitions about putting their words into action.

It’s your job to find them and if you’re one of them then it’s your duty to step up. Walk with purpose. Hold your head high. Be proud and stand tall. Step up to the line and if the opposition wants to call our hand then lets deal them a defeat, a devastating defeat, one they can tell their grand-kids about!

I hope all those who read this article will send it around the country and get folks to sign on.

Jim and Margie
2ndamendmentpatriots.org

Indianapolis, IN --(AmmoLand.com)- President Obama’s health care fiasco has been about as appealing to him as a wad of bubble gum stuck to the bottom of his shoe. However, I believe had it not been for this nightmare he’s created we would by now be dealing with some serious gun control proposals. There’s not a shred of doubt in my mind that many gun owners don’t feel the need for concern because there’s not been any gun control talk in the media.

Though we’ve been distracted with swine flu, cap and trade, health care reform, Michael Jackson’s death and you name it don’t for a second think that Obama’s toadies haven’t been packaging some strong gun control initiatives and when the time is right they’ll sell ‘em like cotton candy to the sleepy eyed zombies that reach out to everything the government dangles in front of them.

For the next several months I’m going to try to convince our good people to help us retool the Indiana Republican Party so that we can control both the Indiana Senate and House.

I know there have been a great many that has defected from the Republican Party to other independent parties over the years. Having the opportunity to speak to nearly two thousand people at the Evansville July 4th TEA party and more that 500 folks at different events people have made it clear why so many have just given up hope with both the Republican and Democrat Parties.

But the fact remains that we are going to have a majority two party system for a long time so it’s going to come down to hard heads or level heads to make the best of the situation.

If gun owners here in Indiana want to again enjoy some meaningful advancement to exercise their right to keep and bear arms then we must regain control of the House back to the Republican Party in order to set up the ability for our prime movers like Sen. Johnny Nugent and Rep. Jackie Walorski and others to have the legislators necessary to assist them in their efforts.

I know at the federal level it’s hard to distinguish between Democrats and Republicans with some exceptions.

Indiana’s own Sen. Dick Lugar has been a glaring disgrace with his votes, especially with gun votes. I get calls and e-mails from across the country asking me what is the Republican Party going to do with him when he comes up for reelection.

His recent vote against Sen. Thune’s amendment 1618 which would have allowed reciprocity carry between the states for gun owners, brought Lugar and Voinovich from Ohio who also voted against it, national attention. That measure was defeated by two votes and they were the only two Republicans to vote against it.

In 2004 those two voted in favor of Sen. Feinstein’s amendment 2637 to reinstate the assault weapon ban and that amendment passed, however less than four hours later the bill S.1805 by Sen. Craig to protect the gun industry from senseless lawsuits in which 2637 was amended into failed. Curiously Lugar and Voinovich both voted in favor of S. 1805 but their willingness to ban an enormous selection of firearms earlier on that day will not be forgotten.

Therefore, again I say that it’s because of unfaithful Republicans like Lugar that makes it difficult to convince people here in Indiana that on the state level we must work to get good respectable Republican candidates to run for office. We need to replace House Democrats with Republican candidates that understand the Constitution and are willing to operate within its confines. If necessary we need good strong Republicans to replace weak liberal Republicans incumbents who have the tendency to either vote the wrong way or are unwilling to step forward and lead the General Assembly in the right direction.

I’m not writing this letter to stir debate on who is good or who is bad. That’s for every gun owner in Indiana to decide for themselves. But after examining the facts I hope that we’ll all take the appropriate action and cut a path so we can achieve more pro gun policies and laws. If Rep. Pat Bauer remains Speaker of the House we will not see any favorable gun legislation in the foreseeable future.

We got the numbers folks let’s make it happen.

Jim and Margie
2ndamendmentpatriots.org

Indiana – -(AmmoLand.com)- For the umpteenth time. HR 45 is going no where. I got a call yesterday and I was hit with questions about this moments ago at our West Side Sportsman’s Club.

HR 45 called the Blair Holt amendment was introduced by Illinois U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D) who represents half of the south side of Chicago. He served time in prison for an illegal weapons possession back in 1969 I believe it was.

Now he writes gun laws.

His bill that was introduced early this year has, no co-sponsors, and has not moved since it was introduced. At least it has not moved in Congress, but it sure has circled the globe via e-mail.

I don’t know of any legislation that has received so much notoriety, but maybe a close second would be the perpetual alerts about SB 2099. There is no such animal. The US Senate designates their bills with just an S. in front of the bill number.

Back in 2000 Senator Jack Reid a Democrat from R.I. introduced S.2099 during the 106 Congress. It was to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to require the registration of handguns for the purpose of taxing them.

It was cited as the Handgun Safety and Registration Act of 2000. There was no action taken on this bill.

Again, I’m asking that folks not get caught up in reading too much hype on the Internet. There are people who just live to get rumors started.

I’d rather our folks, if they have the time, to go on the Internet to make use of it by writing letters to the editors of newspapers promoting our cause.

I do hope that this e-mail would get passed around and maybe lay to rest some of these unnecessary worries. I’m kind of wearing down writing about them. I wouldn’t mind getting a letter back from someone telling me they read this letter. I’d like to think somebody is.

Jim and Margie
Rachel Grubb Politicalgateway.com

For real conservatives, especially Republicans who need to take a compass reading her website would be a good place to get some bearings. http://www.politicalgateway.com/cand.php?id=1496

We’re told that there will be a gathering of people this Tuesday, September 1st at 5:30 PM at the Evansville Four Freedoms Monument downtown on the riverfront to show support for the Obama Health Care Plan. We need our folks to be there, too, so that the media can get our position on this as well. This is just a sample of what we need to be doing.

Now, let me tell you about last nights 2nd Amendment Patriot meeting. It was our first night in our new location at the West Side Sportsman’s Club. We out grew our former location that we’d been in for the past 10 and a half years because our meetings had grown to 100+ people coming and we were just too crowded.

The new location is about twice as large, however, last night we had somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 people, one count was 217 and we’re scratching our heads about the situation. What a nice problem.

The Club and its board members were absolutely terrific in making our first meeting a success. They had the room all set up and they provided the main meal, which they spent 9 hours slow cooking the meat. Everyone brought side dishes and desserts. What a night it was.

We covered the details on what everyone in the room is expected to do in the next several months leading up to our next state election and why this is our moment of truth. We will continue to build our plans and techniques on how we’ll implement the goals we’ve set to bring the Indiana General Assembly back to a legislature that will respond to our directives.

The people who were there last night have no intention of staying backed against the wall any longer. We don’t intend to go around those who interfere and stand in the way of citizens determined to bring our state and our country back to its rightful status of a government of the people and by the people.

We’ll not go around them. They will either move to the side or we’ll march through them, but we are tried of sidestepping. I could see the determination in the faces of all those who were there including the new visitors and those have been with us from the start. The cheers and applauses confirmed it.

Our guest, Indiana Secretary of Treasurer Richard Mourdock, made an absolutely magnificent presentation of his duties as the fiduciary of Indiana and the detail explanation of events concerning his lone stand against the federal government and its power players who violated federal law in its handling of the Chrysler bankruptcy and the devastating financial effect it had on Indiana directly. Secretary Mourdock will need our support as he proceeds with his efforts to recover what rightly belongs to the citizens of this state.

I hope that our September 26th meeting attendance will exceed last nights. The good folks at the WSSC bought more chairs for the meeting and are going to purchase even more for the next meeting. They have offered to help us in whatever way they can. We thank them.

I want to thank the Patriots that helped at the cookout Saturday morning and we are grateful to Jim and Charlene’s generation donation to our group as a result of that event.

We hope that the fires are still burning up in Elkhart and South Bend after our trip up there last weekend and that they are spreading. You folks up there need to keep in close contact with each other and get all the people you can to link up.

All of you can go to our website www.2ndamendmentpatriots.org click on “e-mail list” on the left side of the page and add yourself to our list. Pass this on to anyone you know who is willing to forge ahead on bring liberty back to prominence in our nation.

Also stay connected with Indiana Representative Jackie Walorski in Elkhart who intends to establish regular gatherings of citizens in that area to work together.

We’ve got some of our members working on putting together a rather ambitious Bill Of Rights Day this year. Doug and Mary Guertin are heading up that project. If any of you out there don’t know what day Bill Of Rights Day is I’m not going to tell you. Look it up for yourself and next time you meet one of your legislators in your area ask them if they know. If they don’t, shame on ‘em.

Remember our next and last Heritage Shoot for this year will be Saturday, September 26th and it will start at 10:00 AM sharp. Don’t be late it makes it difficult to try to get the late comers caught up. The shoot is at the West Side Sportsman’s Club and it costs $10.00 for all those 18 years old and older. That evening will be our next Patriot meeting.

Thanks to all of you who came to the meeting and has the courage to stay in this for the long haul. Don’t miss the next one.

Jim and Margie
2ndamendmentpatriots.org

Indiana - -(AmmoLand.com)- If gun owners in Indiana expect to advance gun rights and reclaim liberties that have been lost to senseless insidious laws that have emerged over time, then it will be necessary to overcome petty jealousies and prideful attitudes and act and work in a manner that will clear a road to our success.

In 2006 the 2nd Amendment Patriots, working with principled legislators during that General Assembly, established the first and only Lifetime Handgun License in the nation. It was a window of opportunity.

That window disappeared after the elections of 2007. The simple indisputable fact that is staring us straight in the face is that since the Democrat party acquired control of the Indiana House there has not been one single pro gun bill that was introduced by Republicans that received a hearing for consideration.

Even senate bills could not get passed the fortress walls that Speaker Pat Bauer erected such as Sen. Johnny Nugent’s SB 11 that would have allowed carry to the workplace.

Not only was there not one Democrat in either House or Senate that introduced a pro gun bill, but the Democratic senators who voted for SB 11 did so, in my opinion, in order to get a favorable rating from the NRA. Our state senator in our district who has told Margie and me countless times that he could never support a measure that would allow people to have their guns in their cars at the workplace curiously voted for the bill. Was it because he was confident that his companions in the House would see to it that it would not get a hearing?

There is no doubt that we have weak incumbents and candidates in both parties, their votes proclaim that. However, the Indiana Republican party has a greater balance of individuals who have supported pro gun initiatives.

If the Democrats maintain control of the House in this coming election there will be no pro gun bills that will ever get beyond first readings for the next 10 years minimum due to the fact that there will be redistricting. You can take that to the bank! Our field of play is at the state and local level races.

I know there are some good Republican challengers such as Kyle Hupfer who was the former DNR Director and while so he initiated the proposition to allow licensed gun owners to carry in state parks and on DNR property. That ultimately was signed into law by Gov. Daniels.

Kyle is running against incumbent Democrat Scott Reske in District 37. As I said there are some incumbents currently in the Democrat House who would want to put their name on a bill just for the sake of getting a favorable rating. Getting Kyle elected to office in District 37 would be one step in eradicating that problem.

Indiana House District 37 consists of the southern third of Madison County, including the southern half of Anderson. Among the communities in the district are Anderson, Pendleton, Ingalls, Lapel, Markleville, Edgewood and Chesterfield.

Let’s make a decision here people. We either trade off pride and philosophical ideas and look at this from a practical standpoint, or we allow our opponents to out smart and out maneuver us.

10 years is a long time. It’s our choice. If we choose wisely then let’s get to work at motivating those around us.

There’s a lady in Indiana Congressional District 3 in the Ft. Wayne area who is seeking to run against Rep. Mark Souder. Her name is Rachel Gubb and here is her web site http://www.politicalgateway.com/cand.php?id=1496 I would recommend anyone who is currently holding office at any level or seeking to run for office at any level or anyone who is appointed to office for that matter to read her site on issues and her position. If they cannot identify with that then they need to reevaluate themselves.

2nd Amendment Patriot meeting is Saturday August 29th at 6 PM at the West Side Sportsman’s Club on Peerless Rd. Secretary of Treasurer Richard Mourdock will be our guest speaker. Please bring soda pops or a dessert or side dish. Thanks.

Jim and Margie
2ndamendmentpatriots.org

Indiana - -(AmmoLand.com)- Some of you have heard me refer to Indiana Senator Dick Lugar in the same manner in which people talk about “Big Foot”.

We’re told he exists and there have been reported sightings. Seriously, the only time I’ve ever seen the man person to person was back in 1976 while my family and I were at the Evansville Fall Festival.

During the parade this guy came by grabbing everyone’s hand he could latch onto and shake it and then slamming a flyer in it about running for US senate.

Back then I wasn’t all that much into politics, but if I’d had known then what I know now I’d of probably held onto that little two term mayor of Indianapolis hand a little longer and we’d had a serious discussion.

That was then, this is now. Sen. Lugar is scheduled to be in downtown Evansville this coming Tuesday at the Centre to speak to the EVSC employees.

The doors open at 7 am. There is a rally being organized and folks are asked to show up at that time with their posters and signs.

I’ve heard reports that Lugar is not going to seek another term. That may explain in some part why he has recently fell off the left side of the table by voting against gun owners in his vote against the Thune amendment a few weeks ago that would have provided for reciprocity between states for Americans who have a handgun license to travel with their firearms into other states with similar licenses.

Lugar seemed to be just as proud to vote for now US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Also, he along with Illinois Senator Dick Durbin sponsored the Dream Act bill that will assist illegal immigrants in becoming US citizens.

Lugar has never been a friend to gun owners and his liberal ideals have put him in the other corner of the ring on many occasions.

Whether Lugar decides to run again for office or not maybe while he has his thumb to his nose at us we can decide for him in 2012.

Make your posters and signs and show up.

Tuesday morning would be a good opportunity to let him and the media know how you rank Sen. Lugar.

Jim and Margie
2ndamendmentpatriots.org

South Bend, Indiana - -(AmmoLand.com)- For those who remember the old TV cowboy shows they might recall Have Gun Will Travel. The lead character named “Paladin”,who was fast with a gun, would travel and offer his services to resolve disputes or lend a helping hand.

Well we’re no Paladin but we are going to travel and hope to lend some help here in Indiana to get other folks to join up in protecting gun rights in this state.

Margie and I along with 7 other fellow 2nd Amendment Patriots are going to head for the South Bend area and hopefully meet with as many of our fellow citizens up there as possible and share some of the things we have been doing over the past 10 plus years.

We’ve never tried anything like this before, but we’re willing to make a 7 hour drive up there to give it a shot. It’s over 300 miles and our plans are to leave early on Saturday August 22 and sit down with those folks about 7 pm their time.

We’ll try to keep this meeting under two hours or so and then we’ll head back the next morning. I know it’s going to be a hard ride and we have the wives traveling, too. The women are an important part of this group and they have special insight that they are going to speak about as well.

In the gun debate we often hear about the “loophole”. Well there is a loophole, but it’s not a gun show loophole, it’s a network loophole. Every state has it. Folks that stand for gun rights just don’t seem to connect up. They don’t “STAY UNITED”.

What we’re hoping to do in the goal is to lace up the folks in this state together. In politics money talks and I don’t think anyone would dispute that. But, I tell you there is something else that talks…ACTION.

Maybe while some big dog politician who has all the money in the world to throw at billboards and TV commercials, we can work under the trip wire and educate folks to what they really need to be doing and knowing what the real score is.

The thinking here is that many of the people in our area who can make our meetings get the advantage of hearing and seeing their fellow citizens, while those at the far ends of the state can only stay connected by e-mails, which is a good thing but it’s not the same.

I think if they can see the faces of our Patriot members and see that they are just like them, just regular folks and can see the expressions on their face and hear the tone and sincerity in their voices, it might have more effect. We’re hoping to fulfill Sam Adams quote: “It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds..”

We hope our efforts will work. I think they will. It beats sitting home laying on the couch eating potato chips and hoping someone’s doing something.

I hope all of our brothers and sisters up north that get these e-mails will be there with welcoming arms. Rep. Jackie Walorski has the Nelson’s Golden- Glo Headquarters in Wakarusa, Indiana lined up for us to meet at and it’s going to start at 7 pm their time.

You can contact her or our good friend Len Grummell for details.

I’ll keep you all posted as things progress.

Jim and Margie
2ndamendmentpatriots.org

Indiana - -(AmmoLand.com)- Indiana Sen. Lugar showed his arrogant disregard for the citizens of Indiana yesterday by voting against the Thune/Vitter amendment #1618 concerning reciprocity for carrying handguns across state lines.

Over the years I’ve taken some heat on my stance that the Republican Party is more apt to support our causes and issues. Supercilious Republicans like Lugar make my position nearly indefensible.

We expect disloyalty to the people and Constitution from Democrats, it’s their nature. But even Bayh voted right on this one. Just like with the Indiana BMV leadership’s decision to ignore personal privacy and adopt more intrusive policies on the obedient and law abiding citizens, it is Republicans committing these violations of trust.

Even the liberal Evansville newspaper stands with us on the BMV thing. Over the past several years many folks have left the Republican Party, people who were once steadfast Republicans.

Their support for Independent candidates is quite understandable. Margie and I vote selectively for good Independent candidates, too. However, I still believe that our best shot of pulling this country out of the mud hole it’s in, if that’s possible anymore, is to purge the Republican party of people like Lugar, McCain (though he voted good on 1618) and right on down to the state and local levels.

The Democrat Party is a car wreck beyond repair and the Republicans are too far behind them. The various other political parties have produced some good candidates but there is a concern I have. We’ve never had a large enough element of these parties elected to office to get a measure of how well they would do collectively. If ever their numbers would reach that of the Democrats and Republicans I’m not too sure they wouldn’t turn on us, too.

I’d like to see efforts made to retool the Republican Party. Remember that all of these groups consist of human beings, though some may be mutants it seems. I’d like to see some serious work from folks who have a strong belief in God and Constitution and Country and family and themselves to start slicing and dicing in the Republican Party.

I’ve been invited to speak at a Republican workshop on August 1st and I hope the offer still stands after this letter. But my message will be one of getting things done right. We need to look for solid people who have the grit to stand on both feet and say the right thing because they believe it and then follow through.

I hope that we can get some primaries started out there to strip out the Lugars and McCains in the Party at all levels. If we can get the right people elected, theoretically, that should lead to getting the right people appointed to positions of authority as well.

We have the right to make our own call in these matters. I’m just looking at it from a practical standpoint.

About:

The Second Amendment Patriots are a local group of citizens dedicated to preserving the rights, freedoms, and civil liberties of every American by educating the American public of the founding and history of this country and its founding fathers by explaining the role, functions and purpose of the U.S. Government; and by teaching the need and importance of an armed American public, in order to allow for a more prosperous and respectful country consisting of American citizens with a pledge of allegiance to their country and who will at the same time, voice their demand to take back the present overwhelming power of the U.S. Government and deliver it into the hands of the people to which it belongs.

It is Free to join <a
