Are You Smarter Than A Politician?

Indianapolis, IN --(AmmoLand.com)- I can’t speak for everyone who lives in this country, but I’ll bet all those who receive these e-mails are and we now have nearly 500 direct recipients on our e-mail list. It’s the most delusional politician who has the frame of mind that they know more that those whom they are to serve.

Be it a former sheriff from Indiana or a third rate comedian from Minnesota these and many like them seem to be afflicted with the belief that just by virtue of being the person who won an election they automatically are bestowed with an endless display of imaginary diplomas and degrees that somehow make them qualified to make decisions that affect the personal lives of the masses.

Last week I encountered our Indiana state senator who represents the district we live in. I reminded him that he has a standing invitation to attend a 2nd Amendment Patriot meeting. I have offered him and our state representative the same invitation since they’ve held office. We still are waiting.

During the conversation the senator mentioned that he could never support a carry on campus. He must have told me that a half a dozen times over the years. He has made it clear that he could not support any legislation that would allow citizens to have the ability to protect themselves under the Second Amendment in areas he deems off limits to guns. However, he was quick to mention that this past General Assembly he did vote for Sen. Nugent’s SB. 11 which would have allowed carry to the work place.

That was the second time he was quick to announce that. The first was earlier this year at a Meet Your Legislator meeting. At the time I let him know that it was curious that out of the 8 senators who voted against that bill his name was not on the list.

I knew then why he voted for the bill and while we were speaking last Friday he accidentally let it slip when he again told me he voted for that bill. After he so proudly told me of his vote I stated to him that Speaker of the House, Pat Bauer, had no intention of allowing that bill to get a hearing in the Democrat controlled House. The senator quickly acknowledged in his own words,” I know”, but with the look of a deer in the headlights he immediately followed with, “but I did vote for it”.

He voted for it because his cronies at the statehouse assured him that the bill would go nowhere but it would allow him to get a favorable rating from the NRA. We’re going to see this posturing procedure unfold in this coming election and I will have some specifics to report on this in the near future.

This senator like so many other legislators must have the impression that we are all country bumpkins. We’ve even seen this lately on the news where some legislators demonstrate the pompous and impudent attitudes to their constituents.

Dear people this is our time coming. Here in Indiana and other states across the country the ritual of another election cycle has begun. This is our watch. It is our assignment to begin a change that no one can turn back.

Some people have announced their candidacy for office and some incumbents are getting ready to fight to hold those offices. What is our duty? What is our obligation?

First, we’re obliged to know all we can about those who have put themselves in play. We need people of our choosing to remain in office or to replace those who need to be replaced in the worst way.

Don’t let any political party or political strategist make that selection for you! It’s your call and you make it. We need people that have some armor plating. We need people that have the leather to stand up to the liberals that have driven this country down to the level we’re now swimming in.

We can’t afford to elect some milk toast ambiguous individual to replace some milk toast ambiguous incumbent. There are hard charging people out there who say what they mean and don’t have any inhibitions about putting their words into action.

It’s your job to find them and if you’re one of them then it’s your duty to step up. Walk with purpose. Hold your head high. Be proud and stand tall. Step up to the line and if the opposition wants to call our hand then lets deal them a defeat, a devastating defeat, one they can tell their grand-kids about!

I hope all those who read this article will send it around the country and get folks to sign on.

Retool The Indiana Republican Party in Favor of the 2nd Amendment

Indianapolis, IN --(AmmoLand.com)- President Obama’s health care fiasco has been about as appealing to him as a wad of bubble gum stuck to the bottom of his shoe. However, I believe had it not been for this nightmare he’s created we would by now be dealing with some serious gun control proposals. There’s not a shred of doubt in my mind that many gun owners don’t feel the need for concern because there’s not been any gun control talk in the media.

Though we’ve been distracted with swine flu, cap and trade, health care reform, Michael Jackson’s death and you name it don’t for a second think that Obama’s toadies haven’t been packaging some strong gun control initiatives and when the time is right they’ll sell ‘em like cotton candy to the sleepy eyed zombies that reach out to everything the government dangles in front of them.

For the next several months I’m going to try to convince our good people to help us retool the Indiana Republican Party so that we can control both the Indiana Senate and House.

I know there have been a great many that has defected from the Republican Party to other independent parties over the years. Having the opportunity to speak to nearly two thousand people at the Evansville July 4th TEA party and more that 500 folks at different events people have made it clear why so many have just given up hope with both the Republican and Democrat Parties.

But the fact remains that we are going to have a majority two party system for a long time so it’s going to come down to hard heads or level heads to make the best of the situation.

If gun owners here in Indiana want to again enjoy some meaningful advancement to exercise their right to keep and bear arms then we must regain control of the House back to the Republican Party in order to set up the ability for our prime movers like Sen. Johnny Nugent and Rep. Jackie Walorski and others to have the legislators necessary to assist them in their efforts.

I know at the federal level it’s hard to distinguish between Democrats and Republicans with some exceptions.

Indiana’s own Sen. Dick Lugar has been a glaring disgrace with his votes, especially with gun votes. I get calls and e-mails from across the country asking me what is the Republican Party going to do with him when he comes up for reelection.

His recent vote against Sen. Thune’s amendment 1618 which would have allowed reciprocity carry between the states for gun owners, brought Lugar and Voinovich from Ohio who also voted against it, national attention. That measure was defeated by two votes and they were the only two Republicans to vote against it.

In 2004 those two voted in favor of Sen. Feinstein’s amendment 2637 to reinstate the assault weapon ban and that amendment passed, however less than four hours later the bill S.1805 by Sen. Craig to protect the gun industry from senseless lawsuits in which 2637 was amended into failed. Curiously Lugar and Voinovich both voted in favor of S. 1805 but their willingness to ban an enormous selection of firearms earlier on that day will not be forgotten.

Therefore, again I say that it’s because of unfaithful Republicans like Lugar that makes it difficult to convince people here in Indiana that on the state level we must work to get good respectable Republican candidates to run for office. We need to replace House Democrats with Republican candidates that understand the Constitution and are willing to operate within its confines. If necessary we need good strong Republicans to replace weak liberal Republicans incumbents who have the tendency to either vote the wrong way or are unwilling to step forward and lead the General Assembly in the right direction.

I’m not writing this letter to stir debate on who is good or who is bad. That’s for every gun owner in Indiana to decide for themselves. But after examining the facts I hope that we’ll all take the appropriate action and cut a path so we can achieve more pro gun policies and laws. If Rep. Pat Bauer remains Speaker of the House we will not see any favorable gun legislation in the foreseeable future.

We got the numbers folks let’s make it happen.
