title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. announces a new line of dedicated varmint and predator bolt-action rifles, the MVP (Mossberg Varmint Predator) Series, based on the overwhelming success of the Mossberg 4×4 centerfire rifle.

The engineers at Mossberg combined this classic bolt-action platform with the features most highly-desired by dedicated varmint and predator hunters and long-range competitive shooters in this innovative and well-designed series.

Notably-setting this family of rifles apart from the competition is its unique, patent-pending bolt design which allows MVP Series rifles to accept and reliably feed from AR-15 style magazines; a breakthrough innovation in bolt-action platforms!

The first rifle in this ground-breaking series, the MVP Series Varmint chambered in 5.56mm NATO (.223 Rem), was recently unveiled at the 2011 NRA Convention in Pittsburgh, PA.

Two initial offerings will be available this summer including a standard rifle package with 10-round magazine and factory-installed, Weaver-style bases for customization with optics of the shooter’s choice. The second is a convenient combo package which includes the rifle, pre-mounted and bore-sighted 4-16x50mm variable riflescope, bi-pod and 10-round magazine.

The MVP Series Varmint Rifle, chambered in .5.56mm NATO (.223 Rem), has a 1:9 twist rate to optimize bullet performance and accuracy from the 24-inch button-rifled, medium bull barrel which also features a varmint-style crown to protect the muzzle. Stylish fluting reduces weight and increases heat dissipation. The helically-fluted bolt further reduces the rifle’s overall weight and adds to its distinctive look. The innovative, patent-pending bolt design allows the rifle to accept AR-15 style aftermarket magazines and the 10-round magazine included from the factory. All metalwork features a matte blue finish.

The grey laminate, benchrest-style stock has an ergonomically-designed pistol grip with palm swell and is pillar bedded for the utmost in shot placement repeatability. Stippling on the forend and pistol grip provide for positive hand placement in any weather condition while the deeply-relieved area behind the pistol grip increases wrist and forearm comfort during long shooting strings. The comb is parallel to the bore centerline to eliminate parallax errors. The wide, flat-bottom forend is perfect for sandbag rests or bipod use.

Performance and accuracy are key to long-range shooting and the MVP Series Varmint rifle, as with all 4×4 bolt-actions, comes standard with Mossberg’s Lightning Bolt-Action™ (LBA™) Adjustable Trigger System. Built with durability and reliability in mind, the LBA trigger assembly is machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and hard-coat anodized to military spec, preventing corrosion and minimizing wear. The trigger blade blocks the sear from releasing the striker unless the blade is fully depressed, even at the lightest adjustment setting. And with a simple twist of a standard screwdriver, the LBA trigger is adjustable from 2 to 7 lbs, providing the shooter with the flexibility of adjusting the trigger pull without taking the rifle to a gunsmith. With its distinctive, skeletonized “lightning bolt” trigger blade, the LBA Trigger System offers a truly crisp, creep-free trigger, optimizing accuracy and shot-to-shot consistency.

Benelli USA

ACCOKEEK, MD --(Ammoland.com)- Benelli announces the MR1 ComforTech – the latest addition to the MR1 family featuring a stock that’s ideal for normal hunting conditions.

The new MR1 ComforTech buttstock technology reduces recoil without adding any additional moving parts or weight. ComforTech also helps reduce muzzle climb, allowing shooters to get back on target fast.

Benelli offers various accessories for the MR1 ComforTech – switch the recoil pads to adjust the length of pull, or snap in a raised comb cheek piece to raise your eye level for various red dot sights and scopes. The MR1 ComforTech can be adjusted to suit individual physical specifications, giving shooters the best fit for shooting comfort.

The MR1 features a stainless steel, self-cleaning piston that operates directly against the proven rotating bolt, thereby eliminating the need for complex linkages found on other inferior gas systems. This piston-driven system (ARGO), perfected by Benelli, incorporates a gas port located just forward of the chamber where the gases are hotter and cleaner, resulting in less fouling and more reliable cycling. In function testing the same ARGO system in the M4 shotgun easily exceeded the military requirements. The result is a Benelli carbine with Marine-tough reliability able to function under the harshest conditions.

The sights are a military-style ghost ring aperture, adjustable for windage and elevation in the field using only a cartridge rim as an adjustment tool. All steel parts are black phosphate and aluminum parts are hard-anodized in a matte finish for low visibility and corrosion resistance. The Benelli MR1 carbine comes standard with a five-round magazine, but also accepts standard M16/AR15 high-capacity magazines. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Barrett announces the newest configuration of the REC7 piston-operated rifle line; the 8-inch REC7 PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) is now available.

Our REC7 PDW was developed to meet the needs of military and law enforcement customers, and it has caught their attention by offering rifle-cartridge power and precision in a submachine gun-sized package. The REC7 PDW comes in 5.56 NATO or the 6.8 SPC cartridge, and it is available with either a mil-spec single-stage trigger or select-fire trigger group (agency/export only).

Barrett REC7 PDW Rifle

The REC7 PDW offers all the refinements of its full-size counterpart, such as the 9310 steel Barrett Enhanced Piston Bolt, which is proofed and magnetic-particle tested to ensure reliable performance. The anti-tilt bolt carrier with integral piston strike face is machined from 8620 steel. The gas block is chrome–lined, forward venting and has a fluted gas piston cylinder. This increases reliability by eliminating carbon buildup. Forward venting also keeps the operator’s hands clear of hot gasses.

REC7’s piston is made of 17-4 stainless steel and is the strongest on the market. The piston is easily accessed for cleaning without needing to remove the rail system. This enables optical sights or laser devices to maintain their zero after routine maintenance. The Barrett PDW piston system eliminates issues experienced by ultra-short rifles, increasing reliability with or without a suppressor. Designed for suppressed operations, the PDW has a two-position (suppressed/unsuppressed) nitride finished gas plug, which is easily manipulated with gloves. The REC7 PDW’s upper supports a free-floated, hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel that is proofed and magnetic particle tested for quality assurance.

Barrett is a family-owned and operated company specializing in high performance rifle systems and accessories. Barrett manufactures rifles, ammunition and optic accessories in addition to training for civilian sport shooters, law enforcement agencies, the US military and over 63 foreign allied militaries worldwide.
Tags: Barrett Firearms

Murfreesboro, TN --(AmmoLand.com)- Barrett, a company world known for providing high-end firearms, optics, ammunition and training, announces the newest improvements and additions to the respected REC7 piston-operated rifle line. The REC7 rifle continues to impress with its enhanced reliability, accuracy and durability.

Barrett continues to expand this product line by adding the popular 5.56 NATO chambering cartridge to the lineup. The much-anticipated addition has caught the attention of many law enforcement customers. Many improvements have been made to the REC7 line, with many new enhancements included. The most visual changes are the Daniel Defense free-float rail system and Magpul® MOE® six-position stock.

The Barrett Enhanced Piston-specific Bolt is made from 9310 steel and is nickel-Teflon® coated. Along with the new extractor, these features increase durability. Each bolt is proofed and magnetic-particle tested to guarantee reliable performance. Machined from 8620 steel, the nickel-Teflon coated anti-tilt bolt carrier features an integral piston strike face.

The patented chrome-lined, forward venting, fluted gas block increases reliability by eliminating carbon buildup in the gas cylinder. The 17-4 stainless piston is the strongest on the market, and is easily accessed for cleaning without removing the handguard. The two-position (suppressed/unsuppressed), nitride finish gas plug is corrosion-resistant and easily manipulated with gloves. The gas block acts as an extended rail, providing ample space for mounting optics and accessories.

The REC7 rifle’s forged 7075 aluminum upper and lower receivers are type 3 hardcoat anodized. The lower houses a dependable mil-spec single-stage trigger. The Magpul enhanced trigger guard allows easy access to the trigger in cold weather or with tactical gloves. The upper supports a free-floating, 16-inch hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel with M4 feed ramps machined into both the receiver and the barrel extension. Each barrel is proofed and magnetic-particle tested for quality assurance. A mil-spec A2 flash hider protects the muzzle.

The REC7 rifles now include two 30-round magazines, either Magpul PMAG® 5.56 NATO or Barrett 6.8, three rail covers and tactical soft case. A right-hand, single-point Burnsed sling loop is angled for charging handle clearance.

Barrett is a family-owned and -operated company specializing in high-performance rifle systems and accessories. Barrett manufactures rifles, ammunition, optics and other related accessories for civilian sport shooters, law enforcement agencies, the United States military and over 63 foreign allied militaries worldwide
Tags: Steyr Arms

TRUSSVILLE, AL —-(AmmoLand.com)- Two decades after it was banned from importation, the venerated and much-sought-after Steyr AUG has made its triumphant return to firearm stores across America.

Now built stateside by Steyr subcontractor Sabre Defense—legendary for its tactical rifles and its unrivaled M2HB and Minigun barrels currently in use by the U.S. military—under the watchful eyes and to the exacting tolerances of Austrian engineers, the new Steyr AUG/A3 SA USA made its debut at the 2009 SHOT Show and is now available in 5.56x45mm (.223 Rem.).

After the importation ban in 1989, the legendary AUG/A1 frequently commanded in excess of $5,000, but the svelte, utilitarian Austrian bullpup in its upgraded, modern A3 configuration is now available at a fraction of that.

With an overall length of 28.15 inches including its 16-inch heavy barrel, the uncompromising, clean-running AUG/A3 SA USA measures 8 inches shorter than an AR-15 carbine with a comparable barrel length and an extended stock, making the AUG the ultimate home-defense or ranch rifle.

And while the AR-15’s often maligned gas-impingement system expels a large quantity of operational gas—and all the accompanying carbon and unburned powder—directly into the bolt carrier within the receiver, all gas used to cycle the utterly reliable short-stroke gas-piston AUG design exits the system within an inch of the barrel’s gas port.

The new AUG/A3 SA USA also has two gas adjustment settings.

The AUG/A3 SA USA was engineered specifically with the American marksman in mind, and it incorporates all the features that AUG aficionados have always desired in the platform. An innovative muzzle brake design tames recoil exceptionally effectively, providing for accurate second shots on target. The new last-round bolt-hold-open feature provides a subtle “feel” indication that the magazine is empty, and after a magazine change, the low-profile bolt release is conveniently located on the left side of the stock. The redesigned charging handle, forward on the left side of the receiver, also serves as a forward assist.

The most obvious departure from the AUG of two decades ago is the lack of an integral optical sight. In keeping with its A3 designation, the new AUG is of a flat-top design with a marked, 25-position Picatinny rail. This makes sighting options almost limitless—from low-powered, long-eye relief optics to high-powered scopes to iron sights or even a combination of both. AUG purists need not fret; a Picatinny version of the original integrated Austrian “donut reticle” 1.5X optical sight is also available from Steyr Arms. A smaller side rail also has been added for the integration of one of the many illumination or laser devices on the market.

Of course, the AUG/A3 SA USA has all the classic features and benefits that established it as the pinnacle of modern rifle design, including expedited disassembly as well as simple conversion to left-hand operation, which requires replacement of the standard bolt with the optional left-eject bolt. It also features a quick-change barrel with a collapsible forward grip. The AUG/A3 SA USA includes two transparent polymer 30-round magazines, a cleaning kit that stores in the rifle’s buttstock, a factory sling, a soft carry case and an owner’s manual. Suggested retail is $2,295.

For more information about the AUG/A3 SA USA, visit its microsite at www.steyrarms.com/microsites/aug.

Steyr Arms Rifle Specifications

Model:	Steyr AUG/A3 SA USA

Purpose:	Target Shooting, Tactical

Manufacturer:	Steyr Arms	Steyr Arms, Inc.

Operation:	Adjustable short-stroke gas-piston semi-automatic

Magazine type/capacity:	Polymer double-stack detachable box/30 rounds

Receiver material:	Hard Eloxal-coated aircraft aluminum

Caliber:	5.56x45mm (.223 Rem.)

Barrel:	16-inch chrome-lined heavy barrel (18.375 inches with muzzle brake)

Rifling:	6 grooves, 1:9 RH Twist

Sights:	No sights; integral 25-slot Picatinny rail

Finish:	Mannox®

Safety:	Two-position trigger-blocking

Trigger type:	Single-stage

Pull weight:	9 pounds, 8 ounces

Stock material/type:	Black synthetic/bullpup

Length of pull:	15 inches

Drop at comb:	0.57 inch (from rail)

Drop at heel:	1 inch (from rail)

Recoil pad:	Elastomer; 0.3-inch thick

Sling swivels:	Two (reversible rear)

Pistol grip:	Integral

Checkering:	None

Weight, empty:	8 pounds

Overall length:	28.15 inches

Included accessories:	Owner’s manual, two 30-round magazines, cleaning kit, sling, and a soft carry case

MSRP:	$2,295

Visit Steyr Arms at the SHOT Show at booth # 3043.

Steyr Arms	Steyr Arms, Inc.
Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR – -(AmmoLand.com)- After a tremendous amount of research and testing by Bill Wilson and the Wilson Combat team we are excited to announce the availability of our custom AR platform rifles chambered in 6.8 SPC caliber.

The 6.8 SPC (6.8x43mm) was initially developed by MSG Steve Holland and Chris Murray a United States Army Marksmanship Unit gunsmith to offer superior downrange lethality over the 5.56 NATO/.223 Remington in an AR pattern service rifle with minimal loss of magazine capacity and a negligible increase in recoil.

When built to the level of quality and precision Wilson Combat has achieved the 6.8 SPC is also capable of outstanding accuracy and reliability. In our match-grade, Spec II chambered 16” barrels, The 6.8 SPC is capable of pushing a .277 caliber, 85gr bullet to over 2900 FPS. 110gr bullets easily achieve 2500 FPS with factory loaded ammunition. Appropriate hand loading can achieve even higher velocities and enable the use of heavier projectiles up to 130 grains, which dramatically improves terminal ballistics over a 5.56 Nato/.223 Remington at long range.

This added ballistic performance makes the 6.8 SPC perfect for home protection and SRT/SWAT teams. The 6.8 is a truly ideal hunting round for medium to heavy game and turns the AR into a serious hunting rifle.

Wilson Combat hopes to become your one stop shop for all your 6.8 SPC needs.

Benelli USA World Class Shotguns

ACCOKEEK, MD – -(AmmoLand.com)- A combat carbine has to perform the first time, every time. The ultra-reliable ARGO (Auto-Regulating-Gas-Operated) system incorporated into the new Benelli MR 1 does it for the U.S. military, and now can be the centerpiece of an effective home defense plan.

The MR 1 rifle, Benelli’s latest offering, is chambered in 5.56mm NATO (.223 Rem.) and uses the battle-proven ARGO system—the same system developed by Benelli for the M1014 and used for over a decade in multiple conflicts by the United States Marine Corps.

The sights are a military-style aperture, adjustable for windage and elevation in the field, using only a cartridge rim. A Picatinny rail allows mounting of both conventional and night-vision sights, while retaining metallic-sight capability. All steel parts are black phosphated and aluminum parts are hard-anodized in a matte finish for low visibility and corrosion resistance. The Benelli MR 1 carbine comes standard with a five-round magazine, and can also accept standard M16 magazines. An optional Picatinny tri-rail forend kit is available for mounting a laser aiming device, front handle, illuminator and other accessories.

The MR 1 features a stainless steel, self-cleaning piston that operates directly against the proven rotating bolt, thereby eliminating the need for complex linkages found on other inferior gas systems. This piston-driven system (ARGO), perfected by Benelli, incorporates a gas port located just forward of the chamber where the gases are hotter and cleaner, resulting in less fouling and more reliable cycling. In function testing the MR 1 exceeded the military requirements without malfunction. The result is a Benelli carbine with Marine-tough reliability able to function under the harshest environmental conditions.

“The MR 1 is another great development, and certainly a major milestone for Benelli,” said Stephen McKelvain, Benelli’s VP of Marketing & Communications. “Any shooter who appreciates accuracy and reliability will have to own a Benelli MR 1.”

Specifications:

Model	MR 1

Caliber	5.56mm NATO (.223 Rem.)

Barrel Length	16 inches

Sights	Military-style Aperture Sight

Metal Finish	Black phosphate & hard-anodized in matte black finish

Stock	Tactical Pistol Grip

Average Weight	7.9 lbs.

Overall Length	37.1 inches

Bore Characteristics	Hard chrome lined with a 1-in-9 right hand twist

Method of Operation	ARGO (Auto-Regulating-Gas-Operated)

MSRP	$1299

For the latest news and product information visit www.benelli.com

About:
EXETER, NH – SIG SAUER, Inc., the leading manufacturer of commercial, law enforcement, and military firearms, is proud to introduce the next generation in the evolution of the SIG 556 platform with the new SIG 556 Classic model. The legendary performance and accuracy of the Swiss-built SG 550 tactical rifle is found in every SIG 556 and further enhanced in the new SIG 556 Classic. The Classic is a semi-automatic rifle with the silhouette that harkens back to the original military-only 550 model. Featuring a full length gas piston operating system with a 2-position gas valve, the rifle will keep operating even when the environmental conditions deteriorate. Available in 5.56 NATO, the Classic features a Swiss-type folding stock that adjusts to length, as well as a Swiss-type polymer ergonomic forend. The SIG 556 Classic’s steel receiver features a Picatinny rail with a SIG SAUER Mini Red Dot Sight and an improved combat style hooded front and flip-up rear sights. The Classic’s sleek profile and compact length is enhanced by a 17” cold hammer forged barrel. SIG SAUER shaved a pound off the Classic model by incorporating the redesigned alloy trigger housing, AR style magazine and flash suppressor. Two 30-round polymer magazines with connector are included. The SIG 556 Classic brings back the look and feel of one of the world’s most sought after military rifles but on a platform available for law enforcement and responsible citizens. MSRP is $1998.00.

For more information on SIG SAUER or any of its products, or the SIG SAUER Academy, log on to <a
