Ideal for competition, the bolt is reversible to accommodate right or left-handed shooters,” said Neumaster.

Shooting at velocities up to 450 feet per second, the Silhouette Pistol is capable of 50 shots per fill and meets requirements for both International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association (IHMSA) and NRA competitions.

The Crosman Silhouette PCP Pistol will be introduced with an MSRP of $375. Crosman will exhibit the Silhouette PCP Pistol and its entire PCP product line during SHOT Show 2011 in Las Vegas from January 18-21 in booth number 12740.

For further information on the new Crosman Silhouette PCP Pistol, or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors Precision Optics and Archery, or Game Face Airsoft products, visit the company’s websites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointhunting.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com, or write to Laura Evans, marketing coordinator, Crosman Corporation, 7629 Routes 5 & 20, Bloomfield, NY 14469, email her at levans@crosman.com, or call her at (800) 7–AIRGUN (724-7486).

For up-to-the-minute news from Crosman Corporation, follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/crosmancorp) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/crosmancorp).
Tags: Ammoland.com)- Crosman Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in products for the shooting sports, has introduced a new pre-charged pneumatic (PCP), modular, adaptive, competition sporting air rifle (MSR), the MAR177.

According to Crosman Product Manager, Terry Neumaster, “The Crosman MAR177 PCP Rifle is designed to support match air rifle competitors, using the traditional service rifle of National Match series competitions. To better serve the requirements of elite competitors, we’ve partnered with two-time, National NRA High Power Rifle Champion, Dennis DeMille of Creedmoor Sports Inc.,” he said.

DeMille believes that this purpose-built rifle represents the future of adult competitive air rifle shooting. “The new MAR177 promises to perform at the highest levels of match air rifle competition, while replicating the look and feel of an actual AR-15 style rifle. National Match competitors have been waiting for this gun. Since Crosman’s design team has a history of innovative and successful competition airguns, who better to bring this design to fruition,” said DeMille.

The Crosman MAR177 consists of an upper receiver and requires the shooter to provide their own lower AR to complete the gun. “This allows the competitor the versatility to utilize their own high-power AR lower with a competition-grade trigger group,” said DeMille.

Utilizing a PCP power plant affords an advantage over competitors, with less recoil and eliminating the need to repeatedly pump. “This air rifle features a multi-shot, removable, 8-shot rotary clip and an internally rifled Lothar Walther™ barrel,” according to Neumaster. “With a fill pressure of up to 3000 psi and velocities of up to 600 feet per second (fps), the rifle boasts 10-shot groups at 10 meters of less than 9 millimeters,” he said. The MAR177 is capable of 120 shots per fill and meets requirements for National Match Air Rifle competitions.

DeMille commented, “Serious competitors seek dependable, precision rifles. To these demands, the new MAR177 adds real affordability, compared to any equivalent model out there.”

Olympic level gunsmith and airgun expert Scott Pilkington comments, “I’m pleased to see that Crosman has recognized the inventiveness of my upper design, and brought it to the next level in production and development. This advancement will revolutionize the way folks everywhere use their AR-15s. I expect that serious competitors and plinkers alike will use this upper more than any other in their vault,” he said.

The Crosman MAR177 air rifle will be introduced with an MSRP of $900 and will be exhibited, along with Crosman’s entire PCP product line, at SHOT Show 2011 in Las Vegas, in booth number 12740. The trade show runs from January 18-21.

For further information on the new Crosman MAR177 competition air rifle, or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors Precision Optics and Archery, or Game Face Airsoft products, visit the company’s websites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointhunting.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com, or write to Laura Evans, marketing coordinator, Crosman Corporation, 7629 Routes 5 & 20, Bloomfield, NY 14469, email her at levans@crosman.com, or call her at (800) 7–AIRGUN (724-7486).

For up-to-the-minute news from Crosman Corporation, follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/crosmancorp) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/crosmancorp).
Tags: Ammoland.com)- The latest innovation from Stoeger Airguns is the X20 Suppressor, which employs Air Flow Control (AFC) technology.

The Dual-Stage Noise Reduction System, designed by world-renowned silencer designers Humbert CTTS, makes it the quietest airgun in its class.

Unlike other airgun manufacturers that utilize only sound dampening baffles, Stoeger’s X20 Suppressor utilizes the Dual-Stage Noise Reduction System.

By combining the functions of an internal air-regulator ring and baffles that work in tandem, noise is reduced better that any other airgun on the market.

The air-regulator ring has four decompression holes that bleed off most of the compressed air before the pellet even enters the baffles. The remaining compressed air dissipates throughout the baffles further reducing noise.

When tested in a certified anechoic chamber by F-Squared Laboratories, an independent testing facility, Stoeger’s X20 Suppressor proved to be as much as 7.05 decibels quieter than the competition’s “quiet” airguns.

In velocity comparison tests the X20 Suppressor not only achieved the highest average velocity among the tested airguns, but also, produced the most consistent velocities, important for attaining optimum accuracy.

The X20 Suppressor comes with a quality Stoeger 4×32 compact airgun scope with an illuminated reticle. The scope is factory mounted with rings that attach directly to an integral dove-tail located on the top of the receiver.

“As part of the Benelli USA family of products, Stoeger Airguns benefits from advanced engineering, technology and the innovations that separates Stoeger’s serious, precision-made airguns from the toys,” said Stephen McKelvain, Benelli USA VP Marketing & Communications. “The X20 Suppressor is a modern airgun with the look and feel of a quality sporting arm.”

About:
Ammoland.com)- Crosman® Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in products for the shooting sports, has introduced two new Crosman Nitro Venom break barrel air rifles powered by quiet and effective Nitro Piston technology.

According to Crosman product manager, Sara Calcagno, “Airguns with the nitrogen piston power plant produce 70% less noise than spring powered airguns. They also feature a smoother and more consistent cocking effort so that with one simple cocking motion, your follow-up shots are fast, quiet and easy.” Another advantage to hunters is that “with the Nitro Venom’s gas piston, you won’t lose velocity if the gun stays cocked for an extended period,” said Calcagno.

Nitro Venom air rifles feature a new beavertail stock, “designed to promote the Artillery Hold shooting position,” she said. “The wider surface area of the forearm is intended to rest on the palm of your hand, and assist with achieving improved accuracy and a balanced, consistent shot. With velocities up to 1200 feet per second and muzzle energy ranging from 18 to 21 foot pounds of energy, the new Nitro Venom break barrels deliver serious hunting power,” said Calcagno.

The new break barrels feature precision, rifled barrels with fluted muzzle brakes and sculpted rubber recoil pads. They are equipped with a 3-9x32mm CenterPoint precision scope and quick-lock optic mounting system. Available in hardwood or synthetic stock, both versions offer an ambidextrous, raised cheek piece. The hardwood version features checkering on both the grip and forearm, while the Dusk, all-weather, synthetic version has sculpted grooves on the grip and forearm. The Nitro Venom air rifles will be introduced at SHOT Show 2011, in Las Vegas and will retail for $229.

Crosman will exhibit its entire product line during SHOT Show 2011 in Las Vegas from January 18-21. class="wp-caption-text">Crosman

ROCHESTER, NY --(Ammoland.com)- Crosman Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in the shooting sports industry, has introduced a ground-breaking new, electronic, precharged pneumatic (ePCP) air rifle created for hunters.

According to professional hunter Jim Shockey, “The .357 caliber Benjamin Rogue™ air rifle offers more knock-down power than any .22 cal rimfire.”

The Rogue .357 is a multi-shot repeater equipped with an innovative, micro-processor controlled valve that extends the firing distance and provides “accuracy and lethality out to 100 yards,” says Shockey.

Ken D’Arcy, Crosman President and CEO, said that the pioneering technologies in this air rifle will “combine to change the course and perception of airgun hunting in the same way Samuel Colt changed shooting with the first repeater. Encroaching development and increasing predator encounters have helped with the acceptance of using big bore airguns for urban animal control as well as hunting,” he said. “This venture into big bore hunting airguns is a natural progression for us as we continue to focus our product development on the hunting category.”

The new Benjamin Rogue .357 ePCP hunting air rifle is “different than traditional compressed air PCP or CO2 airguns because of its innovative, patent-pending eVALVE,” said D’Arcy. “The electronically driven power furnished by the eVALVE promises dramatic changes to the way we are used to hunting with airguns. No other airgun provides as many as 20 shots per fill and shoots at a consistent rate of 150 foot pounds of energy, and certainly not at this price range,” he said.

“The Benjamin Rogue’s flexibility adds further distinction,” said D’Arcy. “By adjusting the electronically controlled settings, the Rogue .357 is capable of short and long distance shooting, making it appropriate for both small and larger game hunting,” he said. “The Rogue’s velocity ranges from 700 to 1000 feet per second with knock-down power from 100 foot pounds of energy (fpe) to an astounding 250 fpe. The limitations of traditional close range airgun hunting are all but eliminated with the Rogue. You can now hunt with an airgun that ethically harvests game at considerably longer ranges,” stated D’Arcy.

Equipped with a single air reservoir, the Rogue fills to 3000 psi.

“Thanks to the patent pending eVALVE, the remaining pressure is monitored in the reservoir and maintains constant velocity,” said Terry Neumaster, Crosman product manager.

“It solves the problem other big bore PCP guns have of decreasing shot count and reduced knockdown power as the psi decreases. Unlike our more expensive competition, the Benjamin Rogue .357 continues to deliver powerful shots even with pressure as low as 1000 psi. This feature makes for remarkably efficient use of the remaining air in the reservoir, resulting in an increased shot count,” he said.

All the information a hunter needs for a day in the field is available on the Rogue’s built-in EPiC™, LCD screen.

“Accurately displaying the remaining pressure in the air chamber helps hunters determine how many shots are left before the gun needs to be re-filled,” says Neumaster.

The EPiC screen reports other variables controlled by the micro-processor, including the controls for the e-VALVE.

“By controlling the open time of the valve via the EPiC controls, you have the option of adjusting your shot velocity. In addition, by making adjustments to the settings for the grain weight of your ammunition, you literally ‘dial in’ your preferred power,” according to Neumaster. A heavier load means more knock-down power and, although a heavier load reduces the quantity of shots per fill, it produces heavier impact on larger game. “The most exceptional aspect of the Rogue .357 is its variability. No other airgun lets you choose what kind of game you want to hunt, in one package with only a few easy adjustments,” he said.

“There is enough power in this air rifle to take a boar-sized animal and, while I like airgun hunting for the challenge of close range pursuit, having one gun that offers both short and long range options is a hunter’s dream,” says Shockey. “The Rogue brings airgun hunting beyond pest control and into trophy hunting territory.”

Benjamin has introduced three new .357 bullets designed for the Rogue rifle. The Benjamin eXTREME™ Bullet by Nosler features Nosler’s famous Ballistic Tip technology. Weighing in at 145 grains, it is a versatile bullet with “superb hunting accuracy and deep penetration,” according to President, Bob Nosler. There are also two new .357 Benjamin Pursuit™ bullets for use with the Rogue rifle, the Pursuit Hollow Point at 90 grains and the Pursuit Round Nose at 175 grains. Both are softer than traditional lead bullets and form effectively to the barrel of the rifle, due to their stepped band design.

The Rogue rifle’s innovatively designed stock is shaped for hunters. The magazine holds an impressive six shots. It has a 2-stage, electronic, adjustable trigger with dual electronic switches that significantly reduces lock time. The air rifle is outfitted with sling studs and a fill adaptor.

For further information on the new Benjamin Rogue .357 ePCP caliber air rifle or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors Precision Optics and Archery, or Game Face Airsoft products, visit the company’s websites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointhunting.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com, or write to Laura Evans, marketing coordinator, Crosman Corporation, 7629 Routes 5 & 20, Bloomfield, NY 14469, email her at levans@crosman.com, or call her at (800) 7–AIRGUN (724-7486).

For up-to-the-minute news from Crosman Corporation, follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/crosmancorp) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/crosmancorp).
Tags: Civilian Marksmanship Program

CAMP PERRY, OHIO – -(Ammoland.com)- The 2010 – 2012 8th Edition National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rules were released in September 2010.

The National Three-Position Air Rifle Council•, which governs most three-position air rifle shooting in the USA, releases a revised rulebook every two years.

Rule changes are based on decisions made by the Council, which held its most recent annual meeting this past June. The 2010-2012 version of the rules includes several rule clarifications that are based on interpretations issued during the last two years. A few changes were also made to bring three-position rules in line with International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) rule changes.

Rule changes concerning three-position equipment were also few in number. A new Daisy replacement stock for the M888/887 CO2 air rifles was approved. This stock features an adjustable cheek-piece and butt-plate (once adjustments are set, they cannot be changed during a sporter class competition). Authorization was given for match sponsors to allow “lower-cost air rifles” at the grassroots level. New ISSF standards for checking the size of shooting trouser seat pads and the flexibility of shooting shoes were incorporated into the rules (precision class clothing). Standards for checking blinders and visors were established (see #3 below).

The following highlights three of the most significant rule changes.

1. Rule 8.6.3 – Ties for Last Position in Final. The new rulebook now gives match directors the option of conducting a shoot-off to decide ties for the last position(s) in an eight-person final. This addition was made to be inline with the tie-breaking procedures now used by the ISSF. At this year’s National Three-Position Air Rifle Junior Olympic Championship, this rule was added to the program so it could be showcased at a National 3PAR event. In the precision event, no shoot-off was necessary, but a shoot-off was required to determine the last qualifiers for the sporter final. This was the first council shoot-off and the event was well received by competitors and spectators. Under the new rule, national level matches are required to hold shoot-offs, but local matches can still break these ties by using tie-breaking procedures found in Rule 8.6.1. Information about whether or not a match will hold a shoot-off must be included in the match program. The shoot-off is run similar to a final, and must be conducted as soon as possible after qualification scores are posted. Any shooters with tied qualification score (not including x-count) for the last place(s) in the final will then compete in the shoot-off. This can be as few as two shooters, or there could be several shooters with the same numerical score. Shooters are first given a five-minute preparation and sighting period. They then shoot five shots on command, “FOR YOUR FIRST/NEXT COMPETITION SHOT…LOAD…ATTENTION, 3-2-1 START.” Shooters have 75 seconds to fire each shot. Unlike a final, scores are not announced after each shot is fired. After all five shots are completed, the range officer will announce the five-shot totals for all shooters in the shoot-off. If possible, shoot-offs should be scored in tenth ring values (requires electronic targets or Orion VIS scoring). If ties remain, single shots are fired on command until the tie is broken.

2. Rule 8.5.5 – Protests of VIS Targets. Visual Image Scoring (VIS) such as the Orion Scoring System, has revolutionized the scoring of paper targets by increasing the speed, consistency and accuracy of scoring. Like any new system, the rules concerning its practical use have continued to change as experience is gained and situations arise that warrant change. Rule 8.5.5 concerns the protest procedures for shots scored by VIS targets. Instead of challenging the entire target as was the rule in the previous edition of the rulebook, the new rule states that a specific shot or shots must be protested. Obvious errors, such as when the computer program picks up the wrong shot location, multiple shots on the same bull, or when a paper tear is picked up as a shot, can be brought to the attention of the Statistical officer and changed without an official challenge. If the competitor believes that a shot without an obvious error was scored incorrectly the shot must be officially protested. Shooters must be very confident in their protests, however, since there is now a two-point penalty per protest if the whole number value of the shot does not increase. The Council’s decision to impose a two-point penalty for lost score challenges was adopted so that the score protest procedures for VIS scoring would be essentially the same as they are for electronic (EST) targets where there has been a two-point penalty for lost score protests for several years. The two-point penalty also is intended to avoid slowing down the match when some competitors attempt to “buy points” by protesting several shots that must then be rescored. The incentive is now very high for shooters to only challenge shots that they are convinced should be a higher point value. If stated in the match program, a protest fee (of $3 or less) can be collected for each protest. If a shot is protested, the scan for that shot is then re-evaluated with a “protest algorithm.” If the shooter is granted the point, the fee is returned and score adjusted. If the original score remains the same, the fee is not returned and two points must be deducted from the score of the protested shot. All results of protests are final and cannot be appealed.

3. 4.7.7 – Headgear and Blinders. Competitors now need to be more mindful of the way in which they wear their caps or visors while shooting. If a hat is pulled down too far, the sides may be considered side blinders. While side blinders are permitted under Rule 4.7.9, they are restricted to being no more than 40mm deep (downward direction), and also must not extend past the center of the forehead as seen from the side. To prevent cap bills and visors from being pulled down so that they become illegal side blinders, Rule 4.7.7 was updated to state that when a hat or visor is worn, the area on the forehead between the eyebrows must be visible from the side of the shooter. Range officers will be able to check by coming to the side of shooter in position. From that viewpoint, they can quickly determine whether the hat or visor is high enough on the shooter’s head. It is also important to note that the cap or visor is not permitted to touch the rear sight. Some floppy visors or hats may hit the rear sight, so shooters should place their hats in such a way that they do not touch the sights.

The 2010-2012 8th Edition of the National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rules, with the most recent changes approved by the National Three-Position Air Rifle Council, is now available in printed version or as a downloadable *.pdf file. The new rules may be accessed immediately through the CMP website at http://www.odcmp.com/3P/Rules.pdf. Printed copies of the new rulebook may be ordered from the CMP at a cost of $2.00 each.

The National Three-Position Air Rifle Council continues to urge all coaches, competitors and match sponsors who have questions about the three-position air rifle rules to contact the National Council Rules Hotline. If you have questions or recommendations concerning the rules, contact Vicki Donoho at vdonoho@odcmp.com or 419-635-2141, ext. 1102.

Crosman

ROCHESTER, NY --(Ammoland.com)- The 2-day Northeast Regional Field Target Championships ended on Saturday, July 10, and the response from participants and spectators alike was energetic.

Crosman Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in the shooting sports, hosted the sanctioned event at Crosman’s field target ranges in Bloomfield, New York. More than 60 competitors competed in the event and for many of the spectators, it was their first look at a field target event.

Why compete in a field target shooting event? According to Crosman’s Shooting Services Manager, Mark DeBoard, “Field target shooting can be done no matter your age, gender or size. Since this is a sport of discipline, each shooter must use everything he or she has learned to knock down the target. Breath control, trigger squeeze, range estimation and follow through, are only a few tactics. But what makes this sport unique is that you can compete at an event like ours, right next to world class shooters. I can’t think of any other sport that offers such a great opportunity to compete next to the greats.”

From as far away as Alabama and Maine, competitors ranging in age from 10 to 75, including some National Field Champions, descended on Crosman’s target ranges, eager to try their hand at shooting the metal targets. The crow, turkey, squirrel and ram, shaped targets were placed on the field from 10 to 55 yards out. The small, outdoor target falls when the 1.5 inch hit zone is hit with an airgun pellet.

“It sounds easy, but it’s a lot harder than it looks,” said DeBoard. “The trajectory of a pellet is much different than a rim fire or center fire rifle. You need to know your point of impact from 10 yards all the way out to 55 yards. Depending on wind conditions, you may also have to adjust your aim. You immediately realize it’s not as easy as it looks. When shooting an air rifle, the wind is not your friend, even more so than with powder-powered rifles,” he said.

DeBoard noted that for more than half the competitors, it was their first experience shooting in an airgun field target match.

“People walked away really surprised by how much they liked the challenge and camaraderie the event produced for shooters of all ages.”

For those who arrived on Friday, some extra shooting excitement was on tap. The legendary “Quigley Bucket Challenge,” a nearly impossible shot, was re-enacted.

” The contest gave challengers a chance to test their skill by hitting a 1.75” bucket-shaped target from 55 yards away. “That’s a tough shot on any day, but a real test of determination and skill with an air rifle in the wind and rain,” said DeBoard. Forty-one shooters walked away having stepped up to the challenge, only four were successful.

Ray Apelles, Match Director, began the formal competition by grouping shooters in teams or “squads”. This gave each shooter a partner to mark his or her score sheet and work the clock.

According to Apelles, “We matched novices with veteran shooters to ease them into the sport of competitive airgun shooting.” The sanctioned championship followed AAFTA rules, allowing two shooting rounds of forty shots each, totaling eighty shots per shooter. Each firing lane had two animal shaped targets placed at unknown distances from the firing points. Shooters had two shots per target and were timed at four minutes per lane. “I’ve competed at a lot of matches and never seen as many new people come to the sport, excited about giving field target shooting a try,” said Apelles.

For the PCP division, John Monarte won with 70 points using a Theoben MFR airgun and Crosman Premier Heavy pellets. The Piston division was taken by Jeff Paddock with his DDHW97 airgun and Crosman Premier Light pellets. He earned 55 points. Bill Day won the Hunter division using his AA MFR airgun with JSB Exact pellets earning 62 points. The World Field Target Federation (WFTF) division was won by Harold Rushton. He shot an EVZ airgun and cleared the field with 67 points using JSB Express pellets. Dave Carpenter won the Off-Hand division using a Benjamin Marauder with Crosman Premier Heavy pellets. He earned 51 points.

“The best thing about being a part of this event,” said DeBoard, “was the warm, family atmosphere.

It’s not every sport where kids, parents, and grandparents can compete at the same level together and have fun.”

For further information on Crosman Corporation’s hosting of the field target event or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors Precision Optics and Archery, or Game Face Airsoft products, visit the Company’s web sites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointhunting.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com, or write to

Crosman Corporation

7629 Routes 5 & 20

Bloomfield, NY 14469

(800) 7–AIRGUN (724-7486)
Tags: Civilian Marksmanship Program

CAMP PERRY, OHIO – -(AmmoLand.com)- This year the CMP has implemented several changes to the Sanctioned Match/Clinic program. The first change is the addition of a $5.00 shipping and handling fee.

If you are requesting scorecards, certificates and/or catalogs, you will be required to pay the $5.00 shipping and handling fee. If you are not requesting match materials, the shipping and handling fee will be waived.

The ammunition allocation process has also changed. The application form will no longer list the ammunition price or configuration. If you request ammunition for your event, an ammunition allocation form listing the price and quantity you are approved for will be sent to the event contact person six to eight weeks prior to the date of the match. If you apply for multiple events throughout the year, an ammunition allocation form will be sent six to eight week prior to the date of each event. The ammunition allocation form will be sent via email (hard copies will be sent to those not providing an email address). Once you receive the ammunition allocation form, please complete it and submit it to Mike Conrad, mconrad@odcmp.com, at the CMP North Store. If the ammunition allocation form is not received 30 days after the date of match, then the form is invalid.

Gold, silver and bronze CMP Achievement Pins may be purchased by sanctioned match sponsors to award to competitors in Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military, M1 Carbine and Rimfire Sporter Matches.

The Sanctioned Match/Clinic application form should be submitted six to eight weeks prior to the date of the event. This will allow ample time for the ammunition allocation form to be sent and processed. It is also helpful if the Sanctioned Match/Clinic application is submitted prior to the National Matches (July – August) if the event takes place in July or August as that is our busiest time of the year. Also, if you plan to purchase your allocated ammunition during the National Matches at Camp Perry, it is required you make prior arrangements with Mike Conrad at the CMP North Store.

We hope these changes will help the Sanctioned Match/Clinic Program and the ammunition allocation process. If you have any questions or would like a copy of the new application form, please visit http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions/Sanction.htm or contact me at croguski@odcmp.com or 419-635-2141 ext. 1114. I look forward to working with you in 2010.

Additional information is available at www.odcmp.com or by calling (419) 635-2141.
Tags: Civilian Marksmanship Program

CAMP PERRY, OHIO – -(AmmoLand.com)- On 25 January registration officially opened for the 2010 CMP Summer Air Rifle Camps, and parents and coaches began faxing in forms early that morning to ensure that their athletes had a slot in the camp of their choice.

No camps filled on the first day of registration, but all did receive registrations and early indications show that interest in the 2010 Camp season will be strong. Interested applicants are encouraged to send in registrations soon while ample slots are still available.

Those familiar with the CMP Summer Camps most likely have noticed the changes in the 2010 program from previous years. In accordance with new camp guidelines put in place by the CMP Board of Directors, all full-length three-position air rifle camps will be held at CMP Competition Centers in Anniston, Alabama, and Port Clinton, Ohio. This means that all campers will have the opportunity to shoot on state-of-the-art electronic ranges. Each CMP Competition Center features 80 electronic firing points that display shooters’ scores instantly on computer monitors. This system also allows CMP to post live scores on the internet, so anyone with access to the CMP website can track live feeds from competitions held at CMP venues.

Also for planning purposes, coaches and parents should note that all camps will now be commuter only, so participants attending camp from out of town will have to make their own housing plans. To assist with this process, links for housing options have been provided on the individual camp information pages on the Main Camp Information page.

Since all regular camps will be held at CMP facilities that are located in the Eastern United States, outreach clinics are being designed to deliver mini-camp experiences in the Western part of the country. This is an expansion of the CMP Clinic program that has been in place for several years. Three of these clinics will be held in the summer of 2010, utilizing the summer camp staff as instructors

The 2010 camp schedule will continue to include an advanced camp in the program. The CMP/AMU Advanced Smallbore Camp will take place at Fort Benning, which is home to the Army Marksmanship Unit. Like the CMP Competition Centers, the AMU ranges at Fort Benning, Georgia, are fully electronic

These are the primary changes for the 2010 camp season, but one thing that will remain the same is CMP’s commitment to the quality of instruction provided at the camps. We continue to recruit the top collegiate athletes for our counselor staff, and have Olympic and National Team members on-hand to share their expertise with the campers. We will also continue to fine-tune our instructional material so that participants receive the training they need to reach their shooting goals

Remember to register early and we will see you at camp! Additional information on all the programs listed above can be found on the Main Camp Information page at http://www.odcmp.com/Programs/camp.htm.

Additional information is available at www.odcmp.com or by calling (419) 635-2141.
Tags: (AmmoLand.com)- Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force JROTC rifle teams kicked off their 2009-2010 competition year as they competed in the 2009-2010 JROTC Air Rifle Postal Competitions.

For the past seven year, the Civilian Marksmanship Program has overseen the scoring of JROTC 3×10 three-position air rifle postal competitions. These annual postal matches determine which JROTC unit teams and individual cadets advance to compete in their respective service’s JROTC shoulder-to-shoulder Championship.

From those Championships, the best unit teams and individuals representing each service advance to the JROTC National Championship. Over 6,700 cadets participated in this year’s postal matches. Scores for the 2009 Air Force, Army, Marine Corps and Navy Postal Competitions can be found on the CMP web page at http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/matchResultSearch.cgi?designation=AIR.

Postal targets were fired in October, November and early December, with a target mailing deadline of 4 December. In all, over 20,000 targets were scored between the 1st and 18th of December when all scores were posted on the CMP web site.
<table

This system uses Visual Imaging Scoring (VIS) technology to score the 10-bull paper targets that were scanned at 300dpi so that the Orion software could score them. This system has been used for the past three years. For more information on the Orion Scoring System, visit the Orion website is at www.orionscoringsystem.com.

The Orion software also allows competitors to not only see their scores on the CMP website, but also to see precise details about each shot, including its x/y coordinates, radial distance from the target center and tenth-ring score. Orion technology makes it possible to download printouts showing facsimiles of each shooter’s shot groups for the three positions. A major advantage of Orion is that all targets are scored according to the same standard to eliminate many scoring variations inherent in human scoring.

The top individual precision score in the 2009 JROTC postal was a 296-24X total fired by Aaron Pogorzelski of Fabens High School NJROTC in Fabens, Texas. The top sporter score was a 282-9X fired by Yvonne Swiontek of Zion Benton HS NJROTC in Illinois. The overall top team scores were an 1155-62X precision total fired by Chattahoochee County High School AJROTC in Cusseta, Georgia, and an 1112-33X sporter team score fired by Zion Benton High School NJROTC in Zion, Illinois. All Service Championships will be held at Camp Perry, Ohio. The Navy JROTC Service Championship will be on 11-13 February 2010. The Army JROTC Service Championship will be on 18-20 February 2010. The Marine Corps JROTC Service Championship will be on 25-27 February 2010. The Air Force JROTC Championship will also be on 25-27 February 2010.

Those championships will not only select the top teams in each JROTC command, but they will also identify the teams that will represent each service in the National JROTC Air Rifle Championship at Anniston, Alabama on 25-27 March 2010.

The initial list of qualifiers for the 2010 JROTC Service Championships is posted at http://www.odcmp.com/3P/JROTC.htm.

About:<br

When faced with dust and dirt, gun oil attracts it!

When exposed to freezing temperatures, gun oil and PTFE based lubricants can thicken and gum up. Air and paintball guns have common maintenance requirements – lubrication and corrosion protection.

The products you choose to solve these problems will determine how well your gear performs for you and how much effort you’ll have to expend to achieve the desired performance.

Traditionally gun oil was used to solve both lubrication and corrosion problems. While many of these products feature special additives and formulations and claim to do miraculous things, they all share one common undisputed similarity- they all work when wet.

Sentry Solutions found there were many good lubricants on the market but the fact that they all worked when wet actually contributed to malfunctions and cleaning chores.

When air and paintball guns surfaces are wet they attract and hold dirt and residue of all kinds. Sentry Solutions recognized that if we replaced gun oil with dry gun lubricants we could solve many of the equipment malfunctions caused by the use of gun oil.

Sentry Solutions dry lubricants are similar to non-stick cookware. Metal-to-metal surfaces glide over each other. After treatment, gun actions slide more freely, and dirt and grit aren’t attracted. Any fouling, residue or dirt accumulated through use are shed or easily removed without solvents.

Sentry Solutions makes a complete toolbox of products for every air and paintball gun need. Sentry’s Tuf products provide rust protection and lubrication. Our specialty products such as SMOOTH-KOTE, BP2000 Powder and HI-SLIP GREASE provide lubrication and trigger tuning to keep air and paintball guns in top shape.

About Sentry Solutions, Ltd.
Sentry Solutions, Ltd. was incorporated in 1993. Since then, Sentry Solutions has developed dry lubrication products used by the U.S. Military Forces, government agencies, state and local law enforcement agencies as well as hunter, sportsmen, and mariners. class="wp-caption-text">Crosman

ROCHESTER, New York –-(AmmoLand.com)- Crosman Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in the shooting sports, announced today that its Challenger PCP competition air rifle has been approved for use as a Sporter Class air rifle by the National Three Position Air Rifle Council.

Director of the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), Gary Anderson, said that “Council approval of the Crosman Challenger PCP as a legal Sporter Class air rifle means that the Council has determined that it fulfills all basic rulebook standards for price, caliber, velocity, weight, configuration, dimensions, sights and adjustment capabilities.”

According to Crosman Director of Engineering, Ed Schultz, much consideration was given to improving quality and adding leading edge features to the Challenger PCP.

“We kept the adjustable stock and ambidextrous bolt handle, but completely redesigned the rest of the air rifle with all the elements competitors are looking for. They include a two-stage match grade adjustable trigger, the use of high pressure air, providing for more consistent velocity, and a Lothar Walther™ barrel,” he said. “People competing at this level want a gun with features to improve the fit of the gun, while still adhering to the stringent rules of the sport. We’ve not only created a gun that offers better ergonomics for all shooters, but is more affordable than any of its competitors. Adds Schultz, “Some popular features of the Challenger PCP are the dual fuel capability which requires less pumping to achieve 2000 psi, and the patent pending bolt mechanism that allows for ambidextrous use of the gun.”

Crosman will introduce the completely new Challenger PCP at retail and through its Easy Program, a special youth organization marketing program, in August, 2009. The gun will be offered both with sights as the CH2009S, and without sights as the CH2009. Crosman also offers a full complement of filling devices including both pumps and adaptors for pressurizing the gun.

For additional information on Crosman’s Challenger PCP, or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Precision Optics, Crosman Archery, or Game Face Airsoft products, visit the company’s Web sites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointoptics.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com, or write to Laura Evans, Marketing Coordinator, Crosman Corporation, 7629 Routes 5 & 20, East Bloomfield, NY 14443, email her at levans@crosman.com, or call her at (800) 7 – AIRGUN (724-7486).

About:
Arizona Game and Fish Department

Ben Avery Shooting Facility, Az - -(AmmoLand.com)- Due to current supply and demand conditions, finding ammunition for target shooting can be a challenge. To help recreational shooters ease their troubles and reduce the impact on their wallets, the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Ben Avery Shooting Facility is hosting an air gun league this fall.

The off-hand air gun league is for shooters looking to have fun and learn about one of the fastest-growing forms of shooting sports competition.

The league runs for eight weeks and meets every Thursday evening starting Sept. 10 at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility’s indoor Air Gun Range. Participants ages six and older are welcome and classifications will include rifle and pistol for men, women, juniors and highest overall. Each match includes 300 points consisting of three relays of 10 shots from 10 meters in 20 minutes.

“Air gun shooting is a great way to introduce kids and ladies to shooting sports that might be hesitant to shoot live ammunition,” said Range Master Matt Schwartzkopf with Ben Avery Shooting Facility. “It’s also an excellent way to build character, discipline, patience and confidence.”

Loaner air guns and pellets are available on a limited and first-come, first-served basis. Adaptive equipment may be available for disabled shooters, but please include any equipment needed during pre-registration. The range is restricted to a velocity of 600 fps (feet per second) or less.

Schwartzkopf added, “All of our leagues offer participants a safe and recreational atmosphere to improve their shooting skills. Combined with our loaner equipment, and there’s no reason not to give it a try.”

The cost is $60 for adults and $30 for youth 17 and under. Pre-registration is required, contact Matt Schwartzkopf at mschwartzkopf@azgfd.gov or (623) 236-7076.

The Ben Avery Shooting Facility is on the northwest corner of I-17 and Carefree Highway in north Phoenix, approximately 10 minutes north of Loop 101. Located on 1,650 acres, it is one of the largest government-operated recreational shooting complexes in the world. It averages more than 120,000 shooters per year and is home to a number of regional- and national-class competitions and other major events. Offering a wide array of target-shooting opportunities, the facility has 67 covered stations at the main range (all handicap accessible), and more than 25 additional rifle, pistol, and archery ranges for recreational and competitive shooting. The Clay Target Center offers 18-lighted trap/skeet overlay fields and two sporting clays courses.

To learn more about shooting sports and the Ben Avery Shooting Facility, visit www.azgfd.gov/basf.

About:<br

The three-day event will begin with practice and equipment checks followed by three relays of competition on Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3. Winners will be honored at an awards banquet, scheduled for July 3 at 7:00 p.m.

The rules for this year’s championship break with years past. For the 2009 competition, there are no entry requirements; every junior shooter is welcome to compete.

This rule change is expected to increase the number of competitors. Last year’s championships brought 240 competitors, the second-most competitors ever to compete in the NRA Junior Air Gun Championships.

“We expect a great turn out because this year’s championship is open, unlike past years where competitors needed to navigate the qualification process,” NRA Air Gun Coordinator Jessica McClain said. “All air gun competitors are encouraged to come out to Perry and join in the fun.”

On July 2, competitors are invited to the “Barter Bar” after the final relay. At the barter, each team is encouraged to bring items – from patches and pens to magnets and hats – from their state or community for trading.

For more information on the event, contact Jessi McClain at 703-267-1477 or by email at Crosman

ROCHESTER, New York - -(AmmoLand.com)- Crosman Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in the shooting sports, has signed a multi-year agreement for the exclusive license to manufacture and market the patent pending Vortek gas piston technology under the name Crosman Nitro Piston™. The new technology promises break barrel users greater accuracy due to quicker lock time, greater vibration dampening, a lower decibel report and significantly less recoil. The new technology will be incorporated in a new Crosman break barrel, the Nitro Piston Short Stroke (NPSS) and will be available at retail in June, 2009.

According to Crosman President and CEO, Ken D’Arcy, the new technology is an order of magnitude improvement over earlier break barrel spring airguns. “Break barrel technology has so many advantages. Now, by adding Nitro Piston technology, we have solved most of the objections people have to break barrels,” he said. “Nitro Piston provides a quiet, vibration-free, accurate rifle with very little recoil. It really is the best of both worlds.”

The heart of gas piston technology is its use of nitrogen as the power, instead of a coiled steel spring.

Unlike steel and CO2, nitrogen isn’t adversely affected by temperature. In addition, the technology allows for much easier cocking. The nitro piston starts engaging the moment the shooter starts cocking the gun. Gas pistons can also be left cocked for long periods of time without degrading and losing velocity, the way steel springs do. Also, when a steel spring uncoils, the vibration is not only annoying, it compromises precision. “Nitro Piston technology solves both by creating a smoother cocking force and releasing the gun’s power more quickly,” said D’Arcy.

Says D’Arcy, the auto industry has been using gas piston technology for decades. “Our cars ride smoother and quieter because of these steel-free pistons having been incorporated into modern engines and suspension systems. Our doors and hatchbacks last longer, operate more efficiently, and are more reliable since converting to gas piston technology. I think Nitro Piston will raise the break barrel category to a whole new level in shooting satisfaction,” he said.

Crosman will introduce its first Nitro Piston airgun in June, the Nitro Piston Short Stroke, with the expectation that this technology will be incorporated in additional break barrel models during the next year. The NPSS will feature a soft touch vibration dampening stock with an enhanced trigger package for greater performance.

D’Arcy expects “to witness this technology distinguish Crosman break barrels, and be integrated into hundreds of thousands of our rifles in the future.”

About:
Gun Owners of America

Washington, DC - -(AmmoLand.com)- Remember CANDIDATE Barack Obama? The guy who “wasn’t going to take away our guns”?

Well, guess what?

Less than 100 days into his administration, he’s never met a gun he didn’t hate.

A week ago, Obama went to Mexico, whined about the United States, and bemoaned (before the whole world) the fact that he didn’t have the political power to take away our semi-automatics. Nevertheless, that didn’t keep him from pushing additional restrictions on American gun owners.

It’s called the Inter-American Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials. To be sure, this imponderable title masks a really nasty piece of work.

First of all, when the treaty purports to ban the “illicit” manufacture of firearms, what does that mean?

1. “Illicit manufacturing” of firearms is defined as “assembly of firearms [or] ammunition… without a license….”

Hence, reloading ammunition — or putting together a lawful firearm from a kit — is clearly “illicit manufacturing.”

Modifying a firearm in any way would surely be “illicit manufacturing.” And, while it would be a stretch, assembling a firearm after cleaning it could, in any plain reading of the words, come within the screwy definition of “illicit manufacturing.”

2. “Firearm” has a similarly questionable definition.

“[A]ny other weapon” is a “firearm,” according to the treaty — and the term “weapon” is nowhere defined.

So, is a BB gun a “firearm”? Probably.

A toy gun? Possibly.

A pistol grip or firing pin? Probably. And who knows what else.

If these provisions (and others) become the law of the land, the Obama administration could have a heyday in enforcing them. Consider some of the other provisions in the treaty:

* Banning Reloading. In Article IV of the treaty, countries commit to adopting “necessary legislative or other measures” to criminalize illicit manufacturing and trafficking in firearms.

Remember that “illicit manufacturing” includes reloading and modifying or assembling a firearm in any way. This would mean that the Obama administration could promulgate regulations banning reloading on the basis of this treaty — just as it is currently circumventing Congress to write legislation taxing greenhouse gases.

* Banning Gun Clubs. Article IV goes on to state that the criminalized acts should include “association or conspiracy” in connection with said offenses — which is arguably a term broad enough to allow, by regulation, the criminalization of entire pro-gun organizations or gun clubs, based on the facilities which they provide their membership.

* Extraditing US Gun Dealers. Article V requires each party to “adopt such measures as may be necessary to establish its jurisdiction over the offenses it has established in accordance with this Convention” under a variety of circumstances.

We know that Mexico is blaming U.S. gun dealers for the fact that its streets are flowing with blood. And we know it is possible for Mexico to define offenses “committed in its territory” in a very broad way. And we know that we have an extradition obligation under Article XIX of the proposed treaty. So we know that Mexico could try to use the treaty to demand to extradition of American gun dealers.

Under Article XXIX, if Mexico demands the extradition of a lawful American gun dealer, the U.S. would be required to resolve the dispute through “other means of peaceful settlement.”

Does anyone want to risk twenty years in a sweltering Mexican jail on the proposition that the Obama administration would apply this provision in a pro-gun manner?

* Microstamping. Article VI requires “appropriate markings” on firearms. And, it is not inconceivable that this provision could be used to require microstamping of firearms and/or ammunition — a requirement which is clearly intended to impose specifications which are not technologically possible or which are possible only at a prohibitively expensive cost.

* Gun Registration. Article XI requires the maintenance of any records, for a “reasonable time,” that the government determines to be necessary to trace firearms. This provision would almost certainly repeal portions of McClure-Volkmer and could arguably be used to require a national registry or database.

ACTION: Write your Senators and urge them to oppose the Inter-American Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials.

Please use the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center at http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm to send your Senators the pre-written e-mail message below.

—– Pre-written letter —–

Dear Senator:

I am urging you, in the strongest terms, to oppose the Inter-American Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials.

This anti-gun treaty was written by international bureaucrats who are either stupid or virulently anti-gun — or both.

This treaty could very well ban the ability to reload ammunition, to put new stocks on rifles lawfully owned by American citizens, and, possibly, even ban BB guns!

There are too many problems with this treaty to mention them all in this letter. The rest can be read on the website of Gun Owners of America at: http://www.gunowners.org/fs0901.htm

Please do not tell me the treaty has not yet been abused in this way by the bevy of Third World countries which have signed it. We do not expect the real ramifications of the treaty to become clear until the big prize — the U.S. — has stepped into the trap.

For all of these reasons, I must insist that you oppose ratification of the treaty.

Sincerely,

****************************

What’s Your Current GOA Status?

Obviously, we now face years of invigorated attacks on our gun rights. Shutting down gun shows, prohibitions on specific calibers, another semi-auto ban, and the anti-gun extremists’ Holy Grail of mandatory federal licensing and registration of all gun owners — these are just some of the horrors that we already know we’ll have to defeat head-on. Not to mention this treaty nonsense. Meanwhile, we’ll take every opportunity to go on offense and advance the Second Amendment.

It can’t be done without every single voice being counted. That’s why we are asking you to consider making the commitment of becoming a Gun Owners of America Life Member. By doing so, you put the politicians on notice that neither you nor GOA is going away — that no matter who’s in the White House, there is always going to be a solid wall of resistance.

Now is a perfect time to become a Life Member. And if you aren’t a GOA member at all, isn’t it time you became one?

Please go to http://gunowners.org/ordergoamem.htm to upgrade your participation in GOA.

Gun Owners of America<br
