class="wp-caption-text">National Rifle Association</p></div><p><strong>Charlotte, NC -</strong>-(Ammoland.com)- The 2010 NRA National Junior Air Gun Championships and Training Summit will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico from June 23-26, 2010. The competition will take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center.</p><p>The event is open to all junior shooters under the age of 21 to compete in the Sporter and/or Precision Class based on the type of equipment used. Competitors are then ranked in age groups according to their birth year: Sub-Junior &#8211; born 1996 or later; Intermediate Junior &#8211; born 1993-1995; Junior &#8211; born 1990-1992. Shooters may choose to shoot as individuals or as part of a four-person team.</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re excited to bring this year&#8217;s National Junior Air Gun Championship and Training Summit to Albuquerque,&#8221; said Jessica McClain, NRA Air Gun Coordinator.</p><p>&#8220;We have competitors traveling from all across the country to see how they measure up to other air gun shooters on a national level.&#8221;</p></blockquote><p>This year 150 junior shooters from 15 states will travel to Albuquerque to compete and participate in the Training Summit. Open to shooters, coaches, and parents, the Training Summit offers informational seminars on a variety of topics including mental and physical aspects of competition, nutrition for shooters, collegiate shooting opportunities, and information on other programs for youth offered by the NRA.</p><p>Check-in, equipment inspection, and practice will be held on Wednesday, June 23rd, with formal competition held on Thursday, June 24th and Saturday, June 26th.  The Awards Ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shooters will have a break from competing in order to attend the Training Summit held on Friday, June 25th. class="wp-caption-text">USA Shooting</p></div><p><strong>COLORADO SPRINGS, Co -</strong>-(AmmoLand.com)-  Eleven members of the 2010 World Championship team were selected following the Spring Airgun Championships, which served as Part II of the World Championship Team selection for the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s open air rifle and pistol events.</p><p>Six air rifle and five air pistol shooters qualified to represent the U.S. this August at the 50th ISSF World Championships in Munich, Germany.</p><p>The 2010 World Championship team for airgun was determined by the match scores from the first two days of the 2009 Winter Airgun Championships, which were held last December, added to the match scores from both days of the Spring Airgun Championships and the best two finals from both matches.</p><p>Olympic gold and silver medalist Matt Emmons <em>(Browns Mills, N.J.) </em>qualified for the World Championship team in Men’s 10m Air Rifle with an overall score of 2600.7 points.  U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit <em>(USAMU)</em> member Matt Rawlings<em> (Wharton, Texas)</em> grabbed the second spot in Men’s Air Rifle with a total score of 2584.2 and Jonathan Hall <em>(Carrollton, Ga.) </em>earned the third spot with 2577.1 total points.</p><p>Leading the Men’s Air Pistol team will be 2008 Olympian Brian Beaman, who finished with an overall score of 2507.4 points.  Two-time Olympian and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Jason Turner <em>(Rochester, N.Y.)</em> will also represent the U.S. in Munich this summer, finishing right behind Beaman with 2506.2 points.  Three-time Olympian and USAMU member Daryl Szarenski <em>(Saginaw, Mich.)</em> grabbed the third spot after firing a total score of 2502.1 points.</p><p>Two-time Olympian Emily Caruso <em>(Fairfield, Conn.)</em> lead the way in Women’s Air Rifle, qualifying for a spot on the 2010 World Championship team with 1800.4 total points.  Jamie Beyerle <em>(Lebanon, Pa.)</em>, a 2008 Olympian, took the second spot with an overall score of 1798.8 points and Texas Christian University’s Sarah Scherer (Fort Worth, Texas) qualified in third place with 1796.4 points.</p><p>Teresa Meyer <em>(Dearborn, Mich.)</em> grabbed a spot on the World Championship team in Women’s Air Pistol after firing 1691.8 total points, while Brenda Shinn <em>(Riverside, Calif.)</em>, a 2008 Olympian, took the second spot with 1679.0 points.</p><p>Junior air rifle shooters will be selected to the World Championship team based on their match scores from the 2010 National Junior Olympics and National Championships. class="wp-caption-text">USA Shooting</p></div><p><strong>COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado -</strong>-(AmmoLand.com)- The 2009 Winter Airgun Championships came to a close at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs today with Matt Emmons, Jason Turner, Sarah Beard and Sandra Uptagrafft claiming the top spots on day three of the competition.</p><p>Two-time Olympic medalist Emmons (Browns Mills, New Jersey) was three for three at the Winter Airgun Championships, winning the Men&#8217;s Air Rife title all three days of the match. Emmons shot a near perfect qualification score of 599 out of 600 points today, followed by a final of 102.5 to end in first place with 701.5 total points. U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) member Matt Rawlings (Phenix City, Alabama) finished in second place with 700.6 points and Jonathan Hall (Carrollton, Georgia) took the third spot with 700.3 points.</p><p>For the junior men, Dustin Chesebro (Laramie, Wyoming) of the University of Alaska Fairbanks took home the title with 698.3 total points after shooting an outstanding final score of 104.3. West Virginia University&#8217;s Michael Kulbacki (DuBois, Pennsylvania) finished in second place with 694.5, while Dempster Christenson (Sioux Falls, South Dakota), a member of the University of Nevada&#8217;s rifle team, earned third place with 692.8 points.</p><p>In Men&#8217;s Pistol, 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Jason Turner (Rochester, New York) entered the final in first place with a match score of 580. Turner shot 99.7 points in the final and kept his lead to finish in first place overall with 679.7 points. Brian Beaman (Selby, South Dakota), a 2008 Olympian, finished the match right behind Turner in second place overall for the third consecutive day with a total score of 679.5 points. USAMU member Greg Markowski (Addison, Texas) landed on the podium in third place with 673.3 points. Will Brown (Twin Falls, Idaho) captured his third Junior Men&#8217;s Pistol title of the match today when he finished in first place easily with 663.2 points. Blake Reburn (Kensington, Maryland) took second with 646.4, while Jacob Hall (Carrollton, Georgia) finished in third place with 634.7.</p><p>In a very close match in the Women&#8217;s Air Rifle event, Texas Christian University&#8217;s Beard (Danville, Indiana) pulled out the win after shooting a near perfect qualificaiton score of 399 points, an excellent final of 104.1 for an overall score of 503.1 points. Two-time Olympian Emily Caruso (Fairfield, Connecticut) also shot a match score of 399, a final of 103.2 and finished in second place with 502.2 total points. Jamie Beyerle (Lebanon, Pennsylvania), a 2008 Olympian, shot a perfect match score of 400 points today and ended up right behind Caruso in third place after shooting 102.1 points in the final for a total of 502.1 points.</p><p>Sarah Scherer (Fort Worth, Texas) took first place for the junior women for the third consecutive day, firing a 399 qualification score and 104.2 in the final for a total of 503.2 points. Beard grabbed second place for the junior women with 501.4 total points, while Emily Quiner (Brooklyn Park, Minnesota) earned third place with 496.3 points.</p><p>Sandra Uptagrafft (Phenix City, Alabama) earned the top spot in Women&#8217;s Pistol again today after shooting a match score of 380, a final of 96.5 for an overall score of 476.5 points. Teresa Meyer (Dearborn, Michigan) finished in second place for the second day in a row with a total score of 470.1. Courtney Anthony (Lexington, Nebraska) grabbed third place for the third consecutive day with 466.7 points. Hannah Lewis (Colorado Springs, Colorado) earned the top spot for the junior women with 470.5 total points. class="wp-caption-text">USA Shooting</p></div><p><strong>COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –</strong>-(AmmoLand.com)-  Over 260 rifle and pistol airgun shooters from across the United States, as well as 40 athletes from 11 countries around the world, will gather at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., December 4-6 to compete at the 2009 USA Shooting Winter Airgun Championships (formerly knows as 3 X Air).</p><p>This three-day event will serve as a minimum qualifying score (MQS) qualifier for the first-ever Youth Olympic Games, which will be held August 14-26, 2010 in Singapore.  The MQS qualifier for the Youth Olympic Games is for non-U.S. competitors only as the U.S. will not be participating in the shooting events at the Youth Olympic Games.</p><p>The 2009 Winter Airgun Championships will be a U.S. team tryout for 2010 ISSF World Cups, the 2010 World Championships (part I) and the Bavarian Airgun Championships in the Air Pistol and Air Rifle Events.</p><p>Identical competitions will take place in rifle and pistol with finals matches closing out each day of competition at the Winter Airgun Championships.</p><p>Among the athletes competing will be two-time Olympic medalist Matt Emmons (Browns Mills, N.J.) along wife his wife Katy Emmons, who is a three-time Olympic medalist for the Czech Republic.  Two-time Olympian Jason Turner (Rochester, N.Y./Colorado Springs, Colo.), who is the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist in Men’s Air Pistol, will also be shooting in the match.</p><p>Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center Resident Athletes and 2008 Olympians Jamie Beyerle (Lebanon, Pa.) and Emily Caruso (Fairfield, Conn.) will be competing in the Women’s Air Rifle event.  Vying for titles in pistol will be four-time Olympian Libby Callahan (Columbia, S.C.) as well as three-time Olympian and U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) member Daryl Szarenski (Saginaw, Mich.) and 2008 Olympians Brian Beaman (Selby, S.D.) and Brenda Shinn (Riverside, Calif.).
