Matt Rawlings left the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s South facility in Anniston, Al. Dec. 4 in first place in Men’s Air Rifle after posting a two-day combined score of 1297.2. The current National Champion’s hard work and determination was on full display at the trials.

“Going into the trials I was prepared and confident,” Rawlings said. “I expected to do well and have some success. One of the most important things I have learned is that there will always be another day and if you make a match bigger than it is you can easily become overwhelmed.”

Rawlings recently won a gold medal at the Pan American Games in Air Rifle and is peaking at the right time. There’s a natural correlation between soldiering duties and athletic success as both require self-determination, physical discipline and mental agility to succeed. Rawlings said his duties with the unit and the upcoming holidays will take him off the gun for a few weeks but is focused on the task at hand.

“Being in the Army has helped me gain confidence in myself to do anything I set out to accomplish,” Rawlings said. “The best thing I could have done for my shooting is join this great unit. Every day I train, I know that I will be shooting among the best in the nation and the world.”

Fellow USAMU Soldiers Cpt. Christopher Abalo and Staff Sgt. Henry Gray also competed in the match and are vying for Olympic team slots. Abalo is currently in fifth place and Gray stands at 11th after the first leg. The top two shooters at the completion of the second leg will earn a spot on the Olympic team.

The second and final part of the air gun trials will be Feb. 24-26 at the CMPs North facility at Camp Perry, Ohio.

Ammoland.com)- The leaders have emerged from the first part of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Airgun at the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) South Marksmanship Center in Anniston, Ala.

The scores from the first part will be combined with those of the second part, which will be held the CMP’s North Marksmanship Center in Camp Perry, Ohio from Feb. 23-26. Olympic Team selection will be based on the aggregate of four courses of fire and two best finals.

Sergeant First Class Daryl Szarenski (Seale, Ala.) broke a USA Shooting (USAS) National Record in Men’s 10m Air Pistol qualification. Szarenski shot an impressive 590 out of a possible 600 match points in the first day of qualification.

The former record, 589 points set by Reuben Hafter, has been in place since 1990. Szarenski continued to excel with the highest final of 101.8 points in the first match day for another new national record (with finals) of 691.8 total points. After two days of shooting, he leads the field by over 18 points with an aggregate score of 1275.8 points. Jason Turner (Rochester, N.Y.) finished with 1257.5 points (including his best final of 100.5 points). Will Brown (Twins Falls, Ida.) is tailing Turner by just six-tenths of a point at 1256.9 points.

In Men’s 10m Air Rifle, Corporal Matt Rawlings (Wharton, Texas) of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) fired 595 match points in the second day for an aggregate total of 1297.2 points. Matt Emmons (Browns Mills, N.J.) is less than two points behind with 596 match points for 1295.6 points overall. Jonathan Hall (Carrollton, Ga.) is keeping chase with 1293.3 aggregate points.

Sarah Scherer (Woburn, Mass.) and Emily Caruso (Fairfield, Conn.) are deadlocked at 898 aggregate points in Women’s 10m Air Rifle. Oddly enough in a game of tenths, both scored a best final of 104 points. Jamie Gray (Lebanon, Pa.) is in third place with 896.2 aggregate points. Gray fired 397 points the second match day to stay in the race at only 1.8 points behind.

In Women’s 10m Air Pistol, Sandra Uptagrafft (Phenix City, Ala.) is ahead of the competition with 859.5 aggregate points, nearly twenty points ahead of the competition. Darian Shenk (Annville, Pa.) is in the second position with 839.6 aggregate points. Kylie Gagnon (Bozeman, Mont.) jumped up a few places for an aggregate of 836.2 points.

USA Shooting would like to thank the CMP South for the use of their facilities and our tireless volunteers for another successful event. The athletes will continue their quest for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team at the second part of the U.S Olympic Trials in Camp Perry, Ohio, Feb. 23-26. class="wp-caption-text">Crosman

ROCHESTER, NY --(Ammoland.com)- Crosman Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in products for the shooting sports, has introduced the new M417 pneumatic air rifle that shoots both pellets and BBs.

The M417 is a .177 caliber multi-pump air rifle, assembled in the USA.

According to Tom Clark, Crosman domestic product manager, “The new Crosman M417 courts a new generation of shooters by offering them an affordable air rifle that reflects the classic, tactical styling they’re looking for, and even better, this gun is just plain cool. The popularity of this platform is rapidly becoming the choice of hunters, target shooters, plinkers and practicing marksman. What better way to introduce people to the shooting sports?” Clark asks.

“The M417 has an impressive look and feel, and is inexpensive to shoot. You’ll be surprised at what a great time you have shooting it. Once it’s all tricked-out with your favorite accessories, you’ll be ready to ‘take it outside’ and shoot up your favorite targets. Or for family fun, get two rifles and have a plinking competition with Grandpa… or Grandma for that matter,” he said.

“The M417 is loaded with features that make it rugged, convenient and provide realism,” Clark said. “And adding even more appeal to the tough exterior of the M417 is the textured polymer stock, forearm and receiver. The variable pump action is easy to use for right or left-handers, and the adjustable shoulder stock benefits shooters of all sizes,” he commented.

The M417 comes equipped with a windage adjustable, dual aperture (2-position), flip rear sight, and an elevation adjustable front sight.

“The sights are easily removed to allow for a scope, red dot, flashlight, or even a laser,” said Clark. For added convenience, a sight adjustment tool and Firepow’r pellet clip are stored in the magazine for easy access. “The same Firepow’r 5-shot pellet clips used with the Pumpmaster 760, and Recruit air rifles are included with the M417 and are available as an accessory, so you can load more before you go,” said Clark.

The BB reservoir is located on the side of the receiver and holds up to 350 BBs. An 18-shot internal track feeds BBs into the action.

Using pellets, the precision, rifled steel barrel consistently delivers accurate groups. The M417 offers velocities of up to 660 feet per second (fps) with BBs and 625 fps with 7.9 grain, .177 caliber pellets.

“The multiple pump action allows shooters to vary the velocity that suits their individual abilities, meaning you have the option to shoot farther and hit harder,” Clark stated.

The M417 carries an MSRP of $119.00 and is available at retail now. Crosman Corporation will exhibit its entire product line at the SHOT Show 2012 in Las Vegas from January 17-20. Visit booth number 13940.

For additional information on the Crosman M417, or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors, Crosman Archery, or Game Face Airsoft products, visit the company’s Web sites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointhunting.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com.

For up-to-the-minute news from Crosman Corporation, follow us on Twitter (http://twitter.com/crosmancorp) and Facebook (http://facebook.com/crosmancorp).

Rochester, N.Y.-based Crosman Corporation is an international designer, manufacturer and marketer of Crosman and Benjamin airguns, Crosman Archery products, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors Precision Optics products, and Game Face™ Airsoft products. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- California’s Senate Bill 798, sponsored by Sen. Kevin De Leon (D- Los Angeles), failed to make it out of the Assembly Committee on Public Safety and it has been defeated.

The bill, which would have threatened many sportsmen who use airguns, was changed a number of times throughout California’s legislative session.

Originally, the bill would have banned the sale of airguns, including BB and pellet guns used by sportsmen, unless the entire exterior surface of the gun was predominately colored white or bright red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, or purple, or was transparent. Essentially, airguns would have been required to be made to look like “toy” guns.

The most recent version of the bill did away with the “toy” coloring requirement for airguns, and instead would have repealed the state’s preemption law that prohibits local ordinances from regulating most airguns, like BB and pellet guns. Repealing this section of law would have opened the door for local municipalities in the state to set their own regulations or bans.

“If passed, Senate Bill 798 would have allowed each local government to enact its own set of regulations for airguns,” said Jeremy Rine, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance associate director of state services. “One city could have required airguns to be bright pink while another could have banned them outright. Thankfully, sportsmen can rest a little easier knowing that this ridiculous idea has been put to rest for this session.”

About:
Pyramyd Air

Warrensville Heights, OH – -(Ammoland.com)- SB 798 is alive and well! California SB 798 is still going strong, but representatives in the California State General Assembly are playing games!

Sen. de Leon, author of the bill, heard the overwhelming objections about forcing airsoft, pellet and BB guns to be either clear or brightly colored and changed SB 798.

He’s rewritten the bill and is leaving it up to individual cities and counties to make laws similar (or more restrictive) than his original bill proposed. SB 798 has become a permission slip for any county or city to force all airsoft, BB and pellet guns in an area to be clear or brightly colored.

Now you’re legal. Now you’re not. Now you are. Now you’re not…. If SB 798 passes, you won’t have a clue when your airsoft, BB or pellet guns are legal.

Let’s say you live in a county where your black guns are legal. You pack them up to go some place else to shoot. If you pass through a city or county where the law says your black guns are illegal, you’re breaking the law! If you get stopped by a cop for any reason, you’ll be in trouble for having a black gun.

The really scary part is that you’ll NEVER know when your guns are legal and when they’re not. No one can keep up with all the laws being passed in every county and city. By the way, that’s the WHOLE POINT of SB 798!

You KNOW where this is going! The only reason Sen. de Leon changed the bill is to make it extremely difficult for shooters like you to have black guns. He’s betting you’ll just give up your guns due to the confusion of a patchwork of laws that could quickly change.

This comes down to one thing: intimidation. Sen. de Leon wants you to be so scared that you’ll give up your guns and start chasing butterflies…or anything else that doesn’t involve shooting.

A quick refresher on SB 798 SB 798 was originally proposed because of an unfortunate incident involving a young airsoft shooter who was shot by a police officer because the boy refused to drop his airsoft gun when confronted by the officer. It was nighttime, and the youth made a move with his gun instead of dropping it. In self-defense, the officer shot the boy.

It was a bad situation caused by the mistaken judgement of a child.

Where will you buy your guns? If your city or county decides they won’t allow black guns, where will you buy your guns? Small, local stores that now cater to your needs will just fold up and go away. They’ll move to another county or city where black guns are allowed. Don’t think for a minute that manufacturers are going to start making all their guns with clear or brightly colored bodies to suit your city or county! That would be extremely expensive to accommodate just a few shooters in a few areas.

What about online stores? That’s a dead-end, too. They regularly search for new laws to be sure they’re complying legally. If your ZIP Code says you’re in a city or county that doesn’t allow black guns, no one will ship one to you because the mail order dealer could be sued by the city or county whose laws have been violated.

Got a black gun? You could be fined & your guns confiscated. Or worse. If you don’t stop SB 798, California cities and counties can start passing bills that make your black guns illegal. You could be fined and have your guns confiscated…or worse. You won’t know when you’re legal and when you’re not until some cop stops you and tells you that you’re breaking the law.

Look at your collection. Want it to disappear? It might UNLESS you ACT NOW!

Bottom line: STOP SB 798 from passing or find another hobby.

Don’t live in CA? You’re not off the hook! Don’t live in California? Sign our petition to show your support. If SB 798 passes, the movement to restrict black gun ownership could gain momentum. Your city, county or state could be next. Don’t be caught saying, “I should have signed that petition.” You’ve got one chance. This is it. Do the right thing!

Here’s how: 1. Click here to Ammoland.com)- The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Delegate Dave Marsden (D) are all pouting over the pneumatic gun bill that becomes law on July 1st!

The pneumatic gun bill, put in by Senator Roscoe Reynolds (D), passed easily earlier this year, and was signed into law by Governor Bob McDonnell (R). It takes away the power of localities, such as Fairfax, to ban shooting BB and pellet guns on a person’s own property as long as they do so in a safe manner.

As you can imagine, lowly citizens having such power and responsibility is just too much for the poor Fairfax Board of Supervisors to bear! Tyrants simply do NOT give up power easily.

To top it off, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors are such hypocrites. When Reynolds’s bill was being heard in the General Assembly in January, a Fairfax representative assured the committee that Fairfax had no interest in enforcing the ban on shooting air guns in residences. But now that the bill is becoming law, the sky will fall if people start shooting BB guns in their basements.

Sheeesh. Where are the adults when you need one?

Anyway, just to let the General Assembly know how much this new law is hated by the people of Fairfax, the Board of Supervisors is having a special public hearing and they will be forwarding the input to the General Assembly!

Sooooo, they want to hear from the public, do they? I think VCDL can oblige them! Don’t you agree, NoVA gun owners?

The nearing is going to be held on Tuesday, June 21st. More details on time and location will be provided as the event gets closer.

I know that I’m not about to miss this circus! See you there.

Here’s a story on the event: From the Washington Examiner: http://tinyurl.com/3bbj4jb

About:
Ammoland.com)- Senate Bill 798, sponsored by Sen. Kevin De Leon (D- Los Angeles), would ban the sale of all airguns, including BB and pellet guns used by many sportsmen for small game hunting and target shooting.

Under the bill, these firearms could not be sold unless the entire exterior surface of the gun was predominately colored: white; bright hues of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, or purple; or is transparent. The bill would effectively ban most airguns used by sportsmen as most of these guns rightfully look like other firearms and not “toy” guns.

“Airguns, like BB guns and pellet guns, are real firearms used by sportsmen for hunting and target shooting,” said Jeremy Rine, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance associate director of state services. “It makes no sense to ban these firearms unless they are colored to look like a child’s water gun or other toy gun that you would buy from the toy isle of a store. If passed, sportsmen would be unable to continue to purchase traditional airguns used for hunting, and law enforcement will be unable to tell the difference between what is a real firearm and what is a toy gun.”

The bill has passed the Senate and is schedule for a public hearing on June 14th before the Assembly Committee on Public Safety. The hearing will take place at 9:00 a.m. in State Capital Room 126. Sportsmen are encouraged to attend the hearing and voice their opposition to the bill.

Assembly Bill 809, introduced by Assemblyman Mike Feuer (D- Los Angeles), would apply the state’s handgun registry requirements to all firearms, including rifles and shotguns commonly used by sportsmen for hunting and recreational shooting.

Gun owners would be required to register all of their firearms and provide personal information that includes their name, address, place of birth, telephone number, and occupation. It would also require gun owners to provide a detailed description of the gun, including serial number. This bill is unnecessary and is an invasion of gun owner rights.

AB 809 has passed out of the Assembly and will head to the Senate.

Take Action! California sportsmen should plan to attend next Tuesday’s public hearing and should call their state assembly person today and ask them to oppose Senate Bill 798.

California sportsmen are also encouraged to call their state senators today and ask them to oppose Assembly Bill 809.

To find your state legislator’s contact information, visit the USSA Legislative Action Center at www.ussportsmen.org/LAC.

About:
Crosman

ROCHESTER, NY --(Ammoland.com)- Some of you may already be aware, but the State of California is prepared to vote on a new law that will affect the future of the airgun and airsoft industries.

It could also jeopardize the safety of the public and especially, police officers.

See below for a link to the SB 798 proposed legislation. http://tiny.cc/aylff

California is planning to make it law that all airsoft guns and all BB guns must be brightly colored, so police can distinguish these guns from actual firearms. As most of you know, all airsoft guns sold in the USA already have a bright orange tip and many are clear.

Early on it was recognized the underlying issue is created by consumers who allow potentially dangerous situations to develop. A prime example is the December 2010 incident that apparently prompted SB 798. As reported in the Los Angeles Times, police wounded a teenager when he failed to comply with police commands to “surrender.” Instead, the young man produced an airsoft gun. Expectedly, a police officer feared for his and his partner’s safety. He fired his gun and wounded the young man.

Noteworthy is that the young man’s two companions, who complied with the officers’ commands to drop their guns, were not injured.

SB 798 obviously presumes that a “bright pink” airsoft gun, for example, would distinguish it from a firearm, thus providing a police officer with an immediate sense of security that he was not being threatened with a firearm. That assumption, however, might prove deadly to the officers or innocent bystanders. There are firearms sold that are, indeed, bright pink and other bright colors.

Coloring an airsoft gun bright pink, therefore, would not distinguish it from firearms. A law enforcement officer should and would never assume a pink or other colored gun is harmless. On the other hand, an orange muzzle on an airsoft gun does distinguish it from firearms.

This bill would require the appearance of airsoft guns to change, but this change would not clear up the confusion issue. To the contrary, it would likely have the opposite effect. The change in appearance would render it more similar in appearance to some firearms. It is the simple and effective placement of orange at the muzzle that distinguishes an airsoft gun from firearm. Furthermore, federal law preempts SB798, because the bill would ban the sale of traditional airguns.

Please click on the link below for more information. If you agree that this law is unnecessary, please fill out the form and join the petition today, before it’s too late. www.pyramydair.com/SB798.shtml
Tags: Pyramyd Air

Warrensville Heights, OH – -(Ammoland.com)- No more black airguns! If you enjoy shooting your Walther PPK/S or a Crosman C11, you better get used to them being ALL red or ALL blue or ALL green — or completely clear!

California State Senator Kevin de Leon thinks your black airguns are dangerous and has proposed CA Senate Bill 798 to stop you from having them. SB 798 states that all airguns MUST be painted brightly. No more black guns!

Some background
In December 2010, three boys were shooting their airsoft guns in a public park. It was dark, but their pistols had orange muzzles. The police confronted them and ordered them to put down their guns. Two boys complied but the third did not. He was shot and suffered severe injuries.

To prevent another such occurrence, Sen. de Leon had a knee-jerk reaction and wrote SB 798 to stop EVERYONE from buying, owning or shooting black airguns.

It gets worse!
This new law also affects airsoft guns, which millions of people safely use for re-enactments, skirmishing and maintaining firearm proficiency.

If you hate orange muzzles on your airsoft guns, what are you going to do when the ONLY airsoft guns you can buy, carry or shoot are red, blue, green or completely clear?

California’s Penal Code prohibits the sale and distribution of imitation firearms. BB devices, which are listed as airsoft guns and BB guns, are specifically excluded from that law. HOWEVER, SB 798 adds airsoft guns and BB guns to the list of imitation firearms that are prohibited UNLESS those guns are brightly colored.

YOU are guilty
Because you shoot a “BB device,” Sen. de Leon thinks you’re not a responsible person and must be forced to have brightly colored guns for your own protection. Basically, he’s saying you’re guilty by association because you shoot one of these guns!

While we sympathize with the boy who was injured in last December’s incident, that does not give Sen. de Leon the right to include every airsoft or BB gun owner as someone who needs the government to tell them what to do.

What you can do
If California passes this bill, other states will get similar bills going. Whether you live in California or elsewhere, show your support for airsoft and airgun owners everywhere.

Click here to download a letter that you can send to Senator de Leon and your own California representatives about SB 798.

Do it today — tomorrow may be too late!

Ammoland.com)- FAIRFAX, Va.—During the month of April, visit www.NRAhuntersrights.org for a chance to win a .25 caliber Benjamin Marauder PCP air rifle and accessories.

Donated by the Crosman Corporation, this rifle is specially engraved with the NRA logo to help celebrate our Annual Meetings, April 29-May 1, 2011, in Pittsburgh, Pa.

If you think air guns are only appropriate for the smallest game at the shortest distances, the Benjamin Marauder will awaken you to new hunting possibilities. With its PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) power plant generating pellets up to 900 feet per second, it’s fully capable in skilled hands of taking prairie dog- to fox-size game at or beyond 100 yards.

Designed to be used with a scope, the bolt-action Marauder features an eight-round, auto-indexing magazine, a two-stage, adjustable match trigger and a choked barrel to enhance accuracy. The hardwood stock has an ambidextrous raised comb and a ventilated rubber butt pad.

While all air guns are quiet, an internal barrel shroud on the Marauder keeps noise virtually stealth-like. Crosman’s Laura Evans commented, “When you pull the two-stage match trigger on a Benjamin Marauder PCP hunting air rifle, the loudest sound you hear is the pellet hitting your quarry.”

The Marauder operates using either compressed air or the CO2 Dual Fuel option. Hand pumps or scuba tanks may be used to supply power—up to 3,000 psi. (An easy-to-read gauge inset into the rifle’s fore-end indicates the fill pressure.)

This NRA/Crosman Giveaway comes with the rifle, a 3-12×44 scope and mounts, air tank, hand pump and pellets—everything you need to power up and get shooting immediately.

The suggested retail price of the rifle, scope and accessories is $955.00.

TO ENTER the Benjamin Marauder Gift Giveaway, go to www.nrahuntersrights.org, scroll down to “Gift Giveaway” on the right side of the page, and follow the simple instructions. All you do is send an e-mail to the address provided, and type “Gift Giveaway” in the subject line. There is no cost to enter. Entries will be accepted between April 1 and April 30, 2011, and a winner will be announced May 1, 2011. Learn more about Crosman’s other fine air guns and accessories at www.crosman.com.

If you are going to the NRA Annual Meetings in Pittsburgh, don’t miss our first-ever special session on what NRA does for hunters. The session will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30 in Room 326 of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Today, the Webley Alecto has set a new standard for air pistol design, value and performance. The Company’s 900 Series shotgun has regained Webley & Scott’s reputation for affordable reliability and quality.
Tags: <a

Ideal for competition, the bolt is reversible to accommodate right or left-handed shooters,” said Neumaster.

Shooting at velocities up to 450 feet per second, the Silhouette Pistol is capable of 50 shots per fill and meets requirements for both International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association (IHMSA) and NRA competitions.

The Crosman Silhouette PCP Pistol will be introduced with an MSRP of $375. Crosman will exhibit the Silhouette PCP Pistol and its entire PCP product line during SHOT Show 2011 in Las Vegas from January 18-21 in booth number 12740.

For further information on the new Crosman Silhouette PCP Pistol, or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors Precision Optics and Archery, or Game Face Airsoft products, visit the company’s websites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointhunting.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com, or write to Laura Evans, marketing coordinator, Crosman Corporation, 7629 Routes 5 & 20, Bloomfield, NY 14469, email her at levans@crosman.com, or call her at (800) 7–AIRGUN (724-7486).

For up-to-the-minute news from Crosman Corporation, follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/crosmancorp) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/crosmancorp).
Tags: <a

Since Crosman’s design team has a history of innovative and successful competition airguns, who better to bring this design to fruition,” said DeMille.

The Crosman MAR177 consists of an upper receiver and requires the shooter to provide their own lower AR to complete the gun. “This allows the competitor the versatility to utilize their own high-power AR lower with a competition-grade trigger group,” said DeMille.

Utilizing a PCP power plant affords an advantage over competitors, with less recoil and eliminating the need to repeatedly pump. “This air rifle features a multi-shot, removable, 8-shot rotary clip and an internally rifled Lothar Walther™ barrel,” according to Neumaster. “With a fill pressure of up to 3000 psi and velocities of up to 600 feet per second (fps), the rifle boasts 10-shot groups at 10 meters of less than 9 millimeters,” he said. The MAR177 is capable of 120 shots per fill and meets requirements for National Match Air Rifle competitions.

DeMille commented, “Serious competitors seek dependable, precision rifles. To these demands, the new MAR177 adds real affordability, compared to any equivalent model out there.”

Olympic level gunsmith and airgun expert Scott Pilkington comments, “I’m pleased to see that Crosman has recognized the inventiveness of my upper design, and brought it to the next level in production and development. This advancement will revolutionize the way folks everywhere use their AR-15s. I expect that serious competitors and plinkers alike will use this upper more than any other in their vault,” he said.

The Crosman MAR177 air rifle will be introduced with an MSRP of $900 and will be exhibited, along with Crosman’s entire PCP product line, at SHOT Show 2011 in Las Vegas, in booth number 12740. The trade show runs from January 18-21.

For further information on the new Crosman MAR177 competition air rifle, or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors Precision Optics and Archery, or Game Face Airsoft products, visit the company’s websites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointhunting.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com, or write to Laura Evans, marketing coordinator, Crosman Corporation, 7629 Routes 5 & 20, Bloomfield, NY 14469, email her at levans@crosman.com, or call her at (800) 7–AIRGUN (724-7486).

For up-to-the-minute news from Crosman Corporation, follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/crosmancorp) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/crosmancorp).
Tags: Ammoland.com)- The latest innovation from Stoeger Airguns is the X20 Suppressor, which employs Air Flow Control (AFC) technology.

The Dual-Stage Noise Reduction System, designed by world-renowned silencer designers Humbert CTTS, makes it the quietest airgun in its class.

Unlike other airgun manufacturers that utilize only sound dampening baffles, Stoeger’s X20 Suppressor utilizes the Dual-Stage Noise Reduction System.

By combining the functions of an internal air-regulator ring and baffles that work in tandem, noise is reduced better that any other airgun on the market.

The air-regulator ring has four decompression holes that bleed off most of the compressed air before the pellet even enters the baffles. The remaining compressed air dissipates throughout the baffles further reducing noise.

When tested in a certified anechoic chamber by F-Squared Laboratories, an independent testing facility, Stoeger’s X20 Suppressor proved to be as much as 7.05 decibels quieter than the competition’s “quiet” airguns.

In velocity comparison tests the X20 Suppressor not only achieved the highest average velocity among the tested airguns, but also, produced the most consistent velocities, important for attaining optimum accuracy.

The X20 Suppressor comes with a quality Stoeger 4×32 compact airgun scope with an illuminated reticle. The scope is factory mounted with rings that attach directly to an integral dove-tail located on the top of the receiver.

“As part of the Benelli USA family of products, Stoeger Airguns benefits from advanced engineering, technology and the innovations that separates Stoeger’s serious, precision-made airguns from the toys,” said Stephen McKelvain, Benelli USA VP Marketing & Communications. “The X20 Suppressor is a modern airgun with the look and feel of a quality sporting arm.”

About:
Ammoland.com)- Crosman® Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in products for the shooting sports, has introduced two new Crosman Nitro Venom break barrel air rifles powered by quiet and effective Nitro Piston technology.

According to Crosman product manager, Sara Calcagno, “Airguns with the nitrogen piston power plant produce 70% less noise than spring powered airguns. They also feature a smoother and more consistent cocking effort so that with one simple cocking motion, your follow-up shots are fast, quiet and easy.” Another advantage to hunters is that “with the Nitro Venom’s gas piston, you won’t lose velocity if the gun stays cocked for an extended period,” said Calcagno.

Nitro Venom air rifles feature a new beavertail stock, “designed to promote the Artillery Hold shooting position,” she said. “The wider surface area of the forearm is intended to rest on the palm of your hand, and assist with achieving improved accuracy and a balanced, consistent shot. With velocities up to 1200 feet per second and muzzle energy ranging from 18 to 21 foot pounds of energy, the new Nitro Venom break barrels deliver serious hunting power,” said Calcagno.

The new break barrels feature precision, rifled barrels with fluted muzzle brakes and sculpted rubber recoil pads. They are equipped with a 3-9x32mm CenterPoint precision scope and quick-lock optic mounting system. Available in hardwood or synthetic stock, both versions offer an ambidextrous, raised cheek piece. The hardwood version features checkering on both the grip and forearm, while the Dusk, all-weather, synthetic version has sculpted grooves on the grip and forearm. The Nitro Venom air rifles will be introduced at SHOT Show 2011, in Las Vegas and will retail for $229.

Crosman will exhibit its entire product line during SHOT Show 2011 in Las Vegas from January 18-21. class="wp-caption-text">Crosman

ROCHESTER, NY --(Ammoland.com)- Crosman Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in the shooting sports industry, has introduced a ground-breaking new, electronic, precharged pneumatic (ePCP) air rifle created for hunters.

According to professional hunter Jim Shockey, “The .357 caliber Benjamin Rogue™ air rifle offers more knock-down power than any .22 cal rimfire.”

The Rogue .357 is a multi-shot repeater equipped with an innovative, micro-processor controlled valve that extends the firing distance and provides “accuracy and lethality out to 100 yards,” says Shockey.

Ken D’Arcy, Crosman President and CEO, said that the pioneering technologies in this air rifle will “combine to change the course and perception of airgun hunting in the same way Samuel Colt changed shooting with the first repeater. Encroaching development and increasing predator encounters have helped with the acceptance of using big bore airguns for urban animal control as well as hunting,” he said. “This venture into big bore hunting airguns is a natural progression for us as we continue to focus our product development on the hunting category.”

The new Benjamin Rogue .357 ePCP hunting air rifle is “different than traditional compressed air PCP or CO2 airguns because of its innovative, patent-pending eVALVE,” said D’Arcy. “The electronically driven power furnished by the eVALVE promises dramatic changes to the way we are used to hunting with airguns. No other airgun provides as many as 20 shots per fill and shoots at a consistent rate of 150 foot pounds of energy, and certainly not at this price range,” he said.

“The Benjamin Rogue’s flexibility adds further distinction,” said D’Arcy. “By adjusting the electronically controlled settings, the Rogue .357 is capable of short and long distance shooting, making it appropriate for both small and larger game hunting,” he said. “The Rogue’s velocity ranges from 700 to 1000 feet per second with knock-down power from 100 foot pounds of energy (fpe) to an astounding 250 fpe. The limitations of traditional close range airgun hunting are all but eliminated with the Rogue. You can now hunt with an airgun that ethically harvests game at considerably longer ranges,” stated D’Arcy.

Equipped with a single air reservoir, the Rogue fills to 3000 psi.

“Thanks to the patent pending eVALVE, the remaining pressure is monitored in the reservoir and maintains constant velocity,” said Terry Neumaster, Crosman product manager.

“It solves the problem other big bore PCP guns have of decreasing shot count and reduced knockdown power as the psi decreases. Unlike our more expensive competition, the Benjamin Rogue .357 continues to deliver powerful shots even with pressure as low as 1000 psi. This feature makes for remarkably efficient use of the remaining air in the reservoir, resulting in an increased shot count,” he said.

All the information a hunter needs for a day in the field is available on the Rogue’s built-in EPiC™, LCD screen.

“Accurately displaying the remaining pressure in the air chamber helps hunters determine how many shots are left before the gun needs to be re-filled,” says Neumaster.

The EPiC screen reports other variables controlled by the micro-processor, including the controls for the e-VALVE.

“By controlling the open time of the valve via the EPiC controls, you have the option of adjusting your shot velocity. In addition, by making adjustments to the settings for the grain weight of your ammunition, you literally ‘dial in’ your preferred power,” according to Neumaster. A heavier load means more knock-down power and, although a heavier load reduces the quantity of shots per fill, it produces heavier impact on larger game. “The most exceptional aspect of the Rogue .357 is its variability. No other airgun lets you choose what kind of game you want to hunt, in one package with only a few easy adjustments,” he said.

“There is enough power in this air rifle to take a boar-sized animal and, while I like airgun hunting for the challenge of close range pursuit, having one gun that offers both short and long range options is a hunter’s dream,” says Shockey. “The Rogue brings airgun hunting beyond pest control and into trophy hunting territory.”

Benjamin has introduced three new .357 bullets designed for the Rogue rifle. The Benjamin eXTREME™ Bullet by Nosler features Nosler’s famous Ballistic Tip technology. Weighing in at 145 grains, it is a versatile bullet with “superb hunting accuracy and deep penetration,” according to President, Bob Nosler. There are also two new .357 Benjamin Pursuit™ bullets for use with the Rogue rifle, the Pursuit Hollow Point at 90 grains and the Pursuit Round Nose at 175 grains. Both are softer than traditional lead bullets and form effectively to the barrel of the rifle, due to their stepped band design.

The Rogue rifle’s innovatively designed stock is shaped for hunters. The magazine holds an impressive six shots. It has a 2-stage, electronic, adjustable trigger with dual electronic switches that significantly reduces lock time. The air rifle is outfitted with sling studs and a fill adaptor.

For further information on the new Benjamin Rogue .357 ePCP caliber air rifle or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors Precision Optics and Archery, or Game Face Airsoft products, visit the company’s websites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointhunting.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com, or write to Laura Evans, marketing coordinator, Crosman Corporation, 7629 Routes 5 & 20, Bloomfield, NY 14469, email her at levans@crosman.com, or call her at (800) 7–AIRGUN (724-7486).

For up-to-the-minute news from Crosman Corporation, follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/crosmancorp) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/crosmancorp).
Tags: Annie Oakley is the most famous female shooter.

When she was in her teens, she entered a shooting contest against professional sharpshooter Frank Butler. She beat him soundly. He took the defeat in stride…and eventually married her and became her business manager. When Buffalo Bill’s Wild West traveling show hired her, she became an international sensation and was one of the most famous women of her day. Chief Sitting Bull, who was part of the show, nicknamed her “Little Sure Shot.” She would be known by that moniker forever.

These days, many of our famous female shooters are Olympic athletes, including two-time Gold Medalist Kim Rhode, a double-trap shooter. The Olympic training center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is where our Olympic hopefuls train. Most of today’s Olympic shooting competitions are with airguns. Air rifle shooting requires the use of special clothing that helps stabilize the shooter in the offhand position and increases accuracy. Air pistol shooters don’t wear special clothing. This type of shooting is done at 10 meters at paper targets, is the largest segment of airgun shooting and is enjoyed by well over a million shooters in the U.S.

There are several other airgun disciplines to investigate. Field target is a sport that was started in England and is enjoying a growth spurt in the U.S. because men, women and children can competitively participate. It involves shooting at a steel silhouette target that has a hole in it, called the “kill zone,” that you must hit to get a point. It’s shot from a sitting, kneeling, crouching or standing position, depending on the location of the target. The targets are set at varying ranges, usually from 10 to 55 yards. Generally speaking, field target is shot with Field Target Air Rifles, but there are some clubs that offer air pistol competitions, too.

Benchrest Shooting
Benchrest is another air rifle sport. It originally started as a sport for firearms. It involves shooting an air rifle at paper targets at set distances. The forearms of the guns are rested, but the shooter holds the rear of the gun. A certain number of shots must be fired within a set period of time. All shots are at one set distance.

Airgun silhouette is another discipline that started with firearms. It involves shooting solid silhouette targets of chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams that are set at different distances. There are separate competitions for pistols and rifles, and there are classes of competition within rifle and pistol so you compete against people who’ve spent about as much as you spent for your gun. This is an unusual aspect of classification but a welcome one. It prevents a shooter from using a very expensive gun to outshoot another person with a modestly priced gun. It really levels the playing field!

While there are a number of pink guns that manufacturers have aimed at female shooters, the selection for women is actually much larger. Colors are important for some women, but ergonomics make the shooting experience much more pleasurable. Choosing a lighter-weight gun and one with a slightly shorter pull (or an adjustable stock or buttpad) will go a long way toward making shooting more enjoyable for women who don’t want to wrangle 9-lb. guns that are 4 ft. long!

One last thought: Many shooting instructors have found that women are better shots than men. The reason seems to be that women have fewer preconceptions about shooting and are more open to instruction. And, many women have greater concentration than men of the same age. I guess you could say that women tend to be natural shooters!

Benchrest levels the playing field, and women compete side-by-side with men. Neither one has an advantage over the other!

About:
Ammoland.com)- Crosman Corporation, international designer, manufacturer, and marketer of innovative products for the shooting sports signed a multi-year endorsement partnership with Jim Shockey and IHUNT Communications.

Hunter, writer and outfitter, Jim Shockey has captured the attention of the hunting world for over 20 years with his tales of adventure, hunting and guiding all over the world.

As the host of his own television shows, Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures and Jim Shockey’s The Professionals, he will use and promote Benjamin Trail Series Nitro Piston break barrels and Benjamin Marauder PCP air rifles as serious hunting airguns. Shockey will use the high power air rifles on televised hunts during his 2011 show season and promote them on TV, print and at trade shows.

“There are hunters, and then there’s the legendary Jim Shockey,” said Bob Hampton, Crosman’s Vice President of Marketing. “As a respected authority on all that’s hunting, Jim is a natural fit for representing Crosman and Benjamin hunting airguns,” he said.

“Crosman is committed to airgun hunting and dedicated to developing systems for airguns that provide enough power for hunters to be effective in the field,” said Hampton. “Knowing your capabilities and your distance are important for hunters, now we’re going to provide the power to get the job done responsibly. “Shockey is the ideal person to carry us into the new era of airgun hunting.”

The Benjamin brand has long been known for providing hard-hitting, multi-pump premium airguns. Adding to that reputation, a newly patented technology called the Nitro Piston was introduced last year. By utilizing compressed nitrogen gas, Nitro Piston break-barrel hunting airguns deliver enough terminal energy to cleanly and quietly harvest small game, while eliminating the accuracy and power-fade problems found in spring guns.

“For hunters, the simplicity of break barrel air rifles is as attractive as the affordability of airgun ammunition and the convenience of single cocking power,” said Hampton.

“Finally airguns that offer the power, accuracy and quietness I need to get really excited about airgun hunting,” said Shockey. “With these new, quiet, high power systems and more innovation from Crosman on the horizon, the game is changing. Crosman’s new capability is moving airgun hunting beyond pest control and into mainstream hunting. Eventually everyone will want to be an airgun hunter,” he said.

Crosman

ROCHESTER, NY --(Ammoland.com)- The 2-day Northeast Regional Field Target Championships ended on Saturday, July 10, and the response from participants and spectators alike was energetic.

Crosman Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in the shooting sports, hosted the sanctioned event at Crosman’s field target ranges in Bloomfield, New York. More than 60 competitors competed in the event and for many of the spectators, it was their first look at a field target event.

Why compete in a field target shooting event? According to Crosman’s Shooting Services Manager, Mark DeBoard, “Field target shooting can be done no matter your age, gender or size. Since this is a sport of discipline, each shooter must use everything he or she has learned to knock down the target. Breath control, trigger squeeze, range estimation and follow through, are only a few tactics. But what makes this sport unique is that you can compete at an event like ours, right next to world class shooters. I can’t think of any other sport that offers such a great opportunity to compete next to the greats.”

From as far away as Alabama and Maine, competitors ranging in age from 10 to 75, including some National Field Champions, descended on Crosman’s target ranges, eager to try their hand at shooting the metal targets. The crow, turkey, squirrel and ram, shaped targets were placed on the field from 10 to 55 yards out. The small, outdoor target falls when the 1.5 inch hit zone is hit with an airgun pellet.

“It sounds easy, but it’s a lot harder than it looks,” said DeBoard. “The trajectory of a pellet is much different than a rim fire or center fire rifle. You need to know your point of impact from 10 yards all the way out to 55 yards. Depending on wind conditions, you may also have to adjust your aim. You immediately realize it’s not as easy as it looks. When shooting an air rifle, the wind is not your friend, even more so than with powder-powered rifles,” he said.

DeBoard noted that for more than half the competitors, it was their first experience shooting in an airgun field target match.

“People walked away really surprised by how much they liked the challenge and camaraderie the event produced for shooters of all ages.”

For those who arrived on Friday, some extra shooting excitement was on tap. The legendary “Quigley Bucket Challenge,” a nearly impossible shot, was re-enacted.

” The contest gave challengers a chance to test their skill by hitting a 1.75” bucket-shaped target from 55 yards away. “That’s a tough shot on any day, but a real test of determination and skill with an air rifle in the wind and rain,” said DeBoard. Forty-one shooters walked away having stepped up to the challenge, only four were successful.

Ray Apelles, Match Director, began the formal competition by grouping shooters in teams or “squads”. This gave each shooter a partner to mark his or her score sheet and work the clock.

According to Apelles, “We matched novices with veteran shooters to ease them into the sport of competitive airgun shooting.” The sanctioned championship followed AAFTA rules, allowing two shooting rounds of forty shots each, totaling eighty shots per shooter. Each firing lane had two animal shaped targets placed at unknown distances from the firing points. Shooters had two shots per target and were timed at four minutes per lane. “I’ve competed at a lot of matches and never seen as many new people come to the sport, excited about giving field target shooting a try,” said Apelles.

For the PCP division, John Monarte won with 70 points using a Theoben MFR airgun and Crosman Premier Heavy pellets. The Piston division was taken by Jeff Paddock with his DDHW97 airgun and Crosman Premier Light pellets. He earned 55 points. Bill Day won the Hunter division using his AA MFR airgun with JSB Exact pellets earning 62 points. The World Field Target Federation (WFTF) division was won by Harold Rushton. He shot an EVZ airgun and cleared the field with 67 points using JSB Express pellets. Dave Carpenter won the Off-Hand division using a Benjamin Marauder with Crosman Premier Heavy pellets. He earned 51 points.

“The best thing about being a part of this event,” said DeBoard, “was the warm, family atmosphere.

It’s not every sport where kids, parents, and grandparents can compete at the same level together and have fun.”

For further information on Crosman Corporation’s hosting of the field target event or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors Precision Optics and Archery, or Game Face Airsoft products, visit the Company’s web sites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointhunting.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com, or write to

Crosman Corporation

7629 Routes 5 & 20

Bloomfield, NY 14469

(800) 7–AIRGUN (724-7486)
Tags: Crosman

ROCHESTER, NY --(Ammoland.com)- Crosman Corporation, long known for innovation and quality in the shooting sports, today announced that it would use a third party distributor and, rather than locating in Ireland, would establish its European hub in the Netherlands, where it will distribute goods to customers in Europe and in the UK.

After conferring with its customers and careful consideration, the company decided to centrally locate in the Netherlands, where ease of delivery both in and out of the warehouse is enhanced. The company says that the new location will streamline the order flow process and ensure product delivery within 7 days to anywhere in Europe, fulfilling Crosman’s global supply chain requirements. The new EDC will be operational in May, 2010.

According to Marc Miller, Crosman’s international sales manager, Crosman’s new location in the Netherlands will provide trans-continental logistics to the European marketplace with a more expansive and cost-effective product selection. It will also reduce transport costs, improve delivery times and provide efficiency in inventory management.

“This new distribution hub underscores our commitment to enhancing service to our European customers,” he said. “Rather than simply providing our standard air rifle, the new EDC will inventory product with multiple joules, allowing us to offer a larger assortment of goods to markets with differing requirements. In short, we’re able to maintain our management strategy, having the right product available and that it is delivered efficiently into each European market.”

Says Crosman’s European agent/sales manager Martin Stelling, “The future looks promising for Crosman in Europe. With the consolidation of distribution channels and the large number of new products being launched this year, Crosman is poised for unprecedented growth and enhanced service for its European customers. I am particularly excited,” he said, “about the creation of the Game Face Airsoft division. The new automatic electric airsoft carbines, as well as the first-ever Verdict Marking BBs, have generated a great deal of excitement already. In the airgun category, Crosman’s new Nitro Piston technology for break barrels air rifles is causing quite a stir.”

For further information on the new Crosman European Distribution Center in the Netherlands or on any Crosman, Benjamin, CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors Precision Optics or Game Face Airsoft product, visit the company’s Web sites at www.crosman.com, www.centerpointhunting.com, www.gamefaceairsoft.com, or write to Laura Evans, marketing coordinator, Crosman Corporation, 7629 Routes 5 & 20, Bloomfield, NY 14469, email her at levans@crosman.com, or call her at (800) 7-AIRGUN (724-7486).

About:<br
