/> Generally, California restricts the sale and possession of semi-automatic center fire rifles with the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and other specified features.

California regulations, however, exclude magazines that require the use of a tool to be removed from being deemed “detachable magazines.” Our new California line departs from the standard rifles and shotguns of this type by requiring the use of Arsenal, Inc.’s proprietary tool to remove the magazine. Arsenal, Inc’s new magazine lock design thereby renders the magazine “non-detachable” under California law.

The technology behind Arsenal, Inc.’s new design includes the absence of the protruding tab at the bottom of the magazine catch, which usually permits the user to push with his thumb and remove the magazine. The addition of a special housing, which fits inside the trigger guard’s original housing, completely surrounds the magazine catch. Together, the special magazine catch and housing require a special tool to operate the internal magazine catch.

Our proprietary tool, provided with each California edition rifle and shotgun by Arsenal, Inc., is required to unlock and remove the magazine through a narrow channel on the housing. Unlike other semi-engineered designs in the market, Arsenal, Inc’s slick design does not bulk up the trigger guard and does not disfigure the profile of the rifle. class="wp-caption-text">NRA Opposes The Nomination Of Andrew Traver to Head BATFE

Both IACP and the Joyce Foundation are names synonymous with promoting a variety of gun control schemes at the federal and state levels. Most of the individuals involved in this project were prominent gun control activists and lobbyists.

The IACP report, generated with Traver’s help, called on Congress to ban thousands of commonly owned firearms by misrepresenting them as “assault weapons,” as well as calling for bans on .50 caliber rifles and widely used types of ammunition. The report also suggests that Congress should regulate gun shows out of existence and should repeal the privacy protections of the Tiahrt Amendment—all efforts strongly opposed by the NRA and its members.

Traver also participated in an extremely deceptive NBC Chicago report (http://tiny.cc/m93di ) in which he referred to “the growing frequency of gang members and drug dealers using heavy caliber military-type weapons” and described them as if they were machine guns: “Pull the trigger and you can mow people down.”

Traver and his agents provided the reporter with a fully automatic AK-47, with which she was unable to hit the target. He then said that stray bullets are “one of the main problems with having stuff like this available to the gangs.”

As the Agent-in-Charge of Chicago’s BATFE office, Traver knows that fully automatic firearms are not available through normal retail channels—the opposite of what was implied in the report.

An agency involved in the regulation of a fundamental, individual right guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution should not be led by an individual with a demonstrated hostility to that freedom.

For that reason, the NRA strongly opposes Andrew Traver to head the BATFE and urges President Obama to withdraw this ill-advised nomination.

<object

Today it remains a leading cause of battlefield deaths for American soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, and terrorist-training records show that an introduction to the Kalashnikov is often to be the first class given to the young Islamic men who sign on for the Jihad.

In THE GUN (Simon & Schuster; October 12, 2010; $28.00), Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter and former Marine infantry officer C. J. Chivers presents a rich, engrossing, and comprehensive narrative history of this ground-breaking weapon – not only as a killing tool but as a strategic and political instrument that has changed the rules of war and influenced security and development in large sections of the world. Some six decades after its invention, the armies of more than fifty countries employ the Kalashnikov, as do myriad police, intelligence, and security agencies. But by design and by accident, it has long since passed beyond the control of governments. Authoritative estimates place the number of Kalashnikovs and their knockoffs as high as 100 million – one for every seventy people alive. It is now an everyman‘s gun that marks the terrorist, the guerrilla, the child soldier, the dictator, the drug trafficker, and the thug as much as the professional soldier.

THE GUN by C. J. Chivers

THE GUN is a well-organized and fast-moving narrative that operates at several levels. At the most basic level, Chivers focuses on the original AK-47 and its many derivatives and companion firearms that have flooded armories and arms bazaars around the world. He examines their origins, design, production, distribution, stockpiling, export, and use as one of the predominant instruments of war of the past half-century – a status they are likely to retain for at least a half- century more. But he seeks a larger context, and to equip the reader with a full understanding of how war has evolved and where the assault rifle fits, he traces the development of automatic weapons from the American Civil War through two world wars, the Cold War, and Vietnam to the present day. Chivers shows how the Kalashnikov became the product of evolutionary processes in firearms and ammunition development and changes in military and economic thinking that accompanied an industrializing and polarizing world. But this is not merely the story of a weapon and where it came from. It is a chronicle of how war has changed, a rich work of history and a journey populated by geniuses and fools, ruthless villains and naïve idealists, self-promoting salesmen and incorrigible profiteers, a pantheon of killers of all stripes and, now and then, people who wanted the killing to stop. The book‘s vivid and rigorously reported character sketches – of expeditionary military leaders in the lopsided colonial fighting in nineteenth-century Africa; of a famed arms designer who was a trigamist and apparent draft dodger; of Winston Churchill reacting in horror to industrialized war along the Nile; of the treacherous lives of officials in Stalin‘s Soviet Union; of the first known guerrilla to carry a Kalashnikov in an uprising, in Hungary in 1956; of an enraged young Marine officer who stakes his name and his career in an act of conscience; of a bodyguard shot by Iraqi assassins 23 times at close range – make THE GUN a feat of storytelling, and elevate the story of the AK-47 to an engaging history.

What is this rifle? At first glance, the new AK-47 was an oddity, a rifle deviating from the classic forms in many ways. A midsized weapon that fired a medium-sized cartridge, it was not powerful enough for long-range sniping duty, but it could push out blistering automatic fire for the length of two or three football fields. As American Marines found in Vietnam, a single guerrilla with a Kalashnikov could slow an entire company‘s advance. It was so reliable, even when soaked in water and coated with sand, that its Soviet testers had trouble making it jam. It was so simple that it could be disassembled and reassembled by schoolboys in less than thirty seconds flat. Weighing less than ten pounds and easily concealed, it was an eminently well-conceived killing tool, which could be easily wielded with efficiency even by the small of stature, the mechanically disinclined, the dimwitted, or the untrained.

Stalin’s Contest: The Invention of the AK-47
Drawing on years of research, a trove of exclusive sources, and declassified documents from both the West and the East – as well as on battlefield reportage and interviews with revolutionaries, terrorists, child soldiers, arms dealers, conventional grunts, and Mikhail Timofeyovich Kalashnikov, the man credited with the weapon‘s design – Chivers travels the world, establishes a firm historical record, and demolishes many myths about the AK-47. Legend claims that it was born out of an epiphany at the workbench of a Russian sergeant, Mikhail Kalashnikov, who was competing in a weapon design contest in Stalin‘s Soviet Union. In fact, the acronym AK-47 abbreviates two Russian words, avtomat kalashnikova (Kalashnikov‘s automatic), which pays tribute to this proletarian hero of Soviet propaganda. The numerals signify the year the Soviet army accepted the prototype for mass production.

But as Chivers shows, the political, military, and industrial system of the Soviet state was the real inventor – both of the AK-47 and its fables. Chivers also reveals how the United States, the incubator for rapid-fire arms in the nineteenth century, repeatedly misread the path of automatic arms development in the twentieth, leaving American soldiers and Marines badly outgunned by the 1960s. The Vietnam chapter is rooted in ground-breaking reporting and research that reveals the fullest story ever documented of the debacle of the Pentagon‘s introduction of the M-16 (a hurried reaction to the AK-47). The chapter uncovers sham science and official embarrassment and folly, including secret U.S. Army –lethality? tests against decapitated human heads and severed human legs from India. The tests had been covered up for almost five decades. The chapter also reveals internal memos and correspondence from the manufacturer, as well as secret Pentagon correspondence, showing that the men who pushed the early M-16 into service knew it was a faulty weapon that needed to be reworked, and yet sent the rifles to Vietnam nonetheless and kept quiet about their choices as the rifles failed in the hands of G.I.s.

Chivers rejects all myths, and resists repeating the received wisdom surrounding the world‘s most visible and abundant firearm. He explains how the Kalashnikov became the most important line of firearms in history not simply because they work well and are easy to handle, but because Warsaw Pact military standardization mandates and their production in planned economies assured they were manufactured in outsized quantities. As its numbers grew and reputation spread, and as the Kremlin and the White House realized that their stockpiles of nuclear weapons had made total war unwinnable, Stalin‘s rifle became the defining weapon of the Cold War. Small wars and proxies would be the means through which the Cold War would be fought – and the automatic Kalashnikov would be the perfect weapon with which to fight it. –The Kalashnikov Era had arrived,? Chivers writes. –We are living in it still.?

Everyman’s Gun
With its stubby black barrel, dull brown stock, and distinctive banana clip, the Kalashnikov is the most recognized weapon in the world. It has been used prolifically not only in armed clashes but also in political art and ritual displays. More than a weapon, it has also become a symbol – first of the industrial success of Stalin‘s Soviet Union and the socialist way, later of popular insurrection, armed liberation, gangland stature, and most recently of jihad. Kalashnikovs guard South American coca plantations, serve urban gangs in Los Angeles, are hoarded by survivalists in the northwestern United States, and have been used by ivory poachers to nearly exterminate elephant herds in Africa.

As Chivers observes, in the aftermath of the Cold War, the overabundance of AK-47s has remained a persistent factor in terrorism, crime, ethnic cleansing, and local and regional destabilization. The weapon‘s ubiquitous presence empowers undisciplined forces to commit human rights abuses on a grander scale, raises the costs and exacerbates the dangers of peacekeeping missions, emboldens criminals of many sorts, stalls economic development, and increases the social burdens of caring for the wounded, the orphaned, and the displaced. Shipped by the millions to regions rife with the tensions of poverty, poor government, and high ethnic, religious, or nationalist sentiment, the AK-47 has helped to instigate and expand conflicts.

Ominously, specialists in armed conflict look to the price of Kalashnikovs in a nation‘s open-market arms bazaars to determine the state of risk. When prices rise, public anxiety is considered high. When they sink, the decline can indicate a conflict is ebbing. Chivers, a veteran of combat zones around the globe as both reporter and Marine, writes, –Anywhere large numbers of young men in civilian clothes or mismatched uniforms are carrying Kalashnikovs is a very good place not to go; when Kalashnikovs turn up in the hands of mobs, it is time to leave.? The Twenty-first Century’s Rifle

The AK-47 is a Cold War weapon with a legacy as yet unresolved, a legacy that continues to threaten people and security across much of the world. Chivers proposes that because governments have focused elsewhere, Kalashnikovs and the people who have put them to ill use have killed and maimed more people, and dragged many regions deeper into disarray, than they might have otherwise. He looks at certain programs that have met with limited success in ameliorating the effects of assault rifle proliferation. But, unaligned with any interest group or side, he leaves the question of the best means of relief and abatement – of methods that might bring a degree of peace and stability to many troubled lands – to other hands.

With THE GUN, award-winning reporter C. J. Chivers gives us a gripping, exhaustively researched, and far- reaching assessment of the most important weapon of our time. It is sure to be of intense interest to readers fascinated by military and international affairs, the history of firearms, the legacy of the Soviet Union, the evolution of modern warfare, or of a well-told tale that furthers an understanding of the world today. And with its probing historical analysis, vivid reportage, and provocative moral dimension, it will be equally compelling to those concerned with the origins, dynamics, and resolution of global conflict. –Far too many people regard the study of weapons as an illiberal art,? Chivers writes. –The chronicle of automatic firepower, viewed through the AK-47 and its infiltration across the world, suggests otherwise.?

<a

He lives with his family in Rhode Island.

More Praise for THE GUN

C.J. Chivers, a brilliant war correspondent, is an equally capable military historian. Today it remains a leading cause of battlefield deaths for American soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, and terrorist-training records show that an introduction to the Kalashnikov is often to be the first class given to the young Islamic men who sign on for the Jihad.

(Simon & Schuster; October 12, 2010; $28.00), Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter and former Marine infantry officer C. J. Chivers presents a rich, engrossing, and comprehensive narrative history of this ground-breaking weapon – not only as a killing tool but as a strategic and political instrument that has changed the rules of war and influenced security and development in large sections of the world.

This is not merely the story of a weapon and where it came from.

The book’s vivid and rigorously reported character sketches – of expeditionary military leaders in the lopsided colonial fighting in nineteenth-century Africa; of a famed arms designer who was a trigamist and apparent draft dodger; of the treacherous lives of officials in Stalin’s Soviet Union; of the first known guerrilla to carry a Kalashnikov in an uprising, in Hungary in 1956; of a bodyguard shot by Iraqi assassins 23 times at close range – make THE GUN a feat of storytelling, and elevate the story of the AK-47 to an engaging history.

Chivers gives us a gripping, exhaustively researched, and far-reaching assessment of the most important weapon of our time.

“Far too many people regard the study of weapons as an illiberal art,” Chivers writes. “The chronicle of automatic firepower, viewed through the AK-47 and its infiltration across the world, suggests otherwise.”

Tags: <a

Similar variants are used throughout the world, and while not quite as iconic as the AK-47, the Dragunov rifle has become quite popular with collectors today.

The long gun fires the versatile 7.62x54mmR, which was used for the Mosin-Nagent bolt action rifle developed at the end of the 19th century, and later with the SVT-40 semi-automatic rifle that was developed during World War II.

The rifle, which is also known as an SVD (Russian for Dragunov’s Sniper Rifle), was one of three competing designs being considered for use by the Soviet Red Army at the height of the Cold War during the 1960s. Yevgeny Dragunov’s concept, which included a semi-automatic gas-operated operating mechanism with a short-stroke gas-piston system, won out blasting away the competition. The innovative design remained part of the Soviet small arms arsenal for more than 20 years, and the weapon is still used by the Russian army.

The SVD does bare a resemblance to the AK-47, notably with the large dust cover, iron sights, and lever safety selector – but these are actually just cosmetic similarities as the actual operation is vastly different. It features a 10-round curved box magazine, slotted flash suppressor and a barrel bore that is chrome-lined. While standard 7.62x54mmR ammunition can be used, for precision shooting, specifically designed sniper cartridges would be used.

Commercial variations have been developed and the rifle’s cosmetic design was also been widely copied, most notably the Romanian PSL. Today the PSL is the most commonly encountered version that collectors will encounter for sale, and the gun is sometimes marketed as the FPK Dragunov to make it seem like it has more in common with the original Dragunov design. However, not one part is actually interchangeable between the rifle – although both use the same 7.62x54mmR cartridge.

Chris Berg: Dragunov enthusiast and Webmaster for Dragunov.net, offered some facts on owning and collecting the Dragunov “style” rifles.

FirearmsTruth: The Dragunov style rifles have become really popular with collectors and sport shooters. Why do you think these have gotten so popular in the last couple of years?

Chris Berg: I would say 95 percent of the rifle’s popularity is due to their appearance. The SVD looks like the Devil’s own rifle, and not many other rifle designs will attract as much attention at your local shooting range. Collectibility-wise, it’s hard to beat a Dragunov, even the Russian Tiger, as they were imported in very low numbers and are currently banned from ever being imported again. I’ve seen the value on every genuine Dragunov rifle at least double in the last 5 years.

FirearmsTruth: All things Communist Bloc seem to be popular, including the AK-47 and SKS. Is this in your opinion just because of price and availability?

Chris Berg: Dragunov rifles weren’t initially very popular due to their price and unfounded reputation for poor accuracy. Plus the “post-ban” Tiger suffered from a lack of flash hider/muzzle brake, which gave it unpleasant recoil from such a lightweight rifle. PSLs have always been a popular second choice, especially after people see the current price tag of a Tiger, SVD, or NDM-86.

With regard to the SKS I’d say its price is a huge reason for its popularity. When these rifles were first imported from Russia, China, Romania, and Yugoslavia, their prices were around $100 to $200, which made them within reach of most American shooters. In the SKS what you get is an extremely reliable rifle that is accurate enough for most people’s needs, and it shoots one of the cheapest calibers this side of rimfire. These days, with SKS imports slowing to a trickle, collectors have taken notice of these neat carbines. There are now a small but very loyal number of SKS enthusiasts who have identified which model or marking is rarer and prices have risen accordingly.

As for the AK, I would say it’s a mixed bag as far as their popularity. Three generations of American soldiers have faced the Kalashnikov in battle. So some people buy them for a certain kind of nostalgic reflection, whether it is memories of the battlefield or of Patrick Swayze yelling “Wolverines!” President G.H.W. Bush’s ban on imported weapons in 1989 did the most for increasing the popularity of the AK. Once people were told the supply was being cut off sales rose dramatically, as did their prices, and distributors couldn’t keep up with demand.

Having their Combloc AK appetite whetted with cheap Romanian and Egyptian AKs in the 1990s, people started demanding more from the design. They wanted the reliability and badass looks of a Kalashnikov, but the modularity and accuracy of Eugene Stoner’s AR-15. European manufacturers from Bulgaria, Russia, Serbia, and even the U.S. have stepped up and now offer high quality AKs built on modern CNC machinery in a variety of calibers.

Ultimately, as long as AKs and Dragunovs continue to get featured in video games, movies, and magazines, people will be drawn to these legendary Combloc rifles.

FirearmsTruth: There is a lot of confusion about the SVD and PSL. It almost seems as if “Dragunov” has become a generic term for all rifles of this particular style. What really sets apart an SVD from a PSL for example?

Chris Berg: You’ve touched on the main reason I created dragunov.net. So much confusion and mis-information about these rifles existed that people often didn’t know what they were buying. More than a few people paid quite a bit of money for a rifle their dealer claimed was a genuine Russian SVD, only to later learn they actually owned a Tiger hunting rifle, or worse, a Romanian PSL. And you can understand why since they all look very similar at first glance.

On the most basic level, the SVD is built around a solid machined steel receiver with parts carefully fit and assembled for precision. It was designed by an Olympic shooter to be an extremely reliable rifle capable of very good accuracy at ranges far exceeding the AK-47 and AK-74. The design lends itself to portability and reliability, with accuracy not far behind. The fact is that Mr. Dragunov designed a great rifle that was just a little too complex and expensive for some smaller countries to effectively manufacture. China was the only other country with the budget and infrastructure to make a true Dragunov rifle initially, though Poland and Iran now make very close copies of the SVD too.

The compromise was the stamped sheet metal design of the PSL from Romania. These rifles are far simpler and cheaper to make, plus some of its parts will interchange with the AK-47. However the PSL design is (or can be made to be) as accurate as the Russian Dragunov.

The sad fact is most American owners of these rifles will never realize the true accuracy potential, since match-grade 7.62x54R ammunition is scarce and very expensive. Shooting half a century old military surplus ammo through a PSL or SVD is an exercise in futility, if accurate shooting is important to you.

FirearmsTruth.com: While the standard SVD and PSL rifles, as well as other models, are 7.62x54mmR, we’re seeing other calibers. Why are these coming about now?

Chris Berg: For the reasons previously mentioned about quality ammunition. There is a .308 version of the PSL and SVD and both rifles are considerably more accurate in that caliber. Some people use these rifles to hunt and .308 has a broader range of hunting bullets that can be tailored to a specific animal.

For the people lucky enough to live in a country where they can still buy new Dragunov rifles from Izhmash, Tigers are offered in .30-06, 9.3×64 (9mm Brenneke), and even 6.5×55 Swedish. This is testament to the Dragunov’s popularity as a medium-large game rifle capable of reliable performance in very harsh environments.

Thanks to Chris Berg for the straight shooting on the Dragunov.

Peter Suciu is executive editor of Ironwood Designs Military Gun Stocks

San Jose, CA --(AmmoLand.com)- Ironwood Designs is happy to announce our new “in Stock” products pages. Over the past couple of months, we have been putting together tons of pre-boxed, on the shelf, ready to ship stock sets. Included are some of our most popular sets, and numerous limited offer combo sets. Our primary goal is to reduce delivery times, and to keep more of our best seller sets, in stock, on a regular basis.

Why we are doing this? Our business has been increasing steadily for the past 3 years, as well as our product offerings. The results are that our delivery times and production flow have slowed down. We are finally creating a break between our standard, and custom orders, to better manage their production flow. More parts in stock, and defined delivery times is the idea.

Ironwood Designs is not a huge industrial entity, nor is it a war time sized stock production facility. We are a small custom production house, that produces a huge amount of many different stock variants. Our reproduction stocks cover over 12 different countries of origin, spanning over 30 years of various military rifle variants and models.

In addition, we offer several different wood options, hybrid and interchangeable parts, as well as several custom options, for many of those parts. It is a monumental task at times, but, we embrace it, because we love what we do. In fact, stock production is all that we do. We make everything in house, from scratch. no imports, no re-selling surplus. Everything is done here in the USA, to the closest specs possible.

Our new “In Stock” section will enhance your stock selection process, and better inform you to make the choice that suits you best. We have added tons of new Tech Page features, and will be adding more in the following weeks. Because our e-mail and phone inquiries have been overwhelming, we have been updating and improving our site, to answer all of the questions we hear on a daily basis. We will never be a faceless organization, but, we need our site to do some of the heavy lifting, so we can stay in the shop, turning out new product. We humbly request that you let the site guide you through your purchase experience, as it is much better equipped to do so at this time.

Arsenal Firearms

Las Vegas, NV –-(AmmoLand.com)- Recently Arsenal, Inc called upon the firearms industry to wish Mikail T. Kalashnikov (Inventor or the AK-47 and many other rifles) a happy 90th Birthday.

We did this by having people from through out the firearms industry sign individual birthday cards that would then be placed onto a 3ft X 4ft poster and delivered to Mr. Kalashnikov himself in Izhevsk, Russia.

The firearms industry’s response was amazing, more people than ever expected participated in this simple but impactful gesture from the American firearms community.

Arsenal, Inc as a company would like to say THANK YOU to the firearms industry for making this possible.

Mr. Kalashnikov was truly amazed by this gift and wished to express his extreme gratitude for the kind wishes on his Birthday.

His official Birthday is on November 10th and the poster was delivered to him personally at the Izhmash museum in Izhevsk on November 13th. When delivering the giant card, it was evident on his face of how amazed he was at the outpouring of support from the United States and he verbally expressed that to the Arsenal team in his native language of Russian.

Through the translator, the team from Arsenal was told of his gratitude for this amazing gift. After leaving the museum, the team was informed later on in the evening, of how a small argument started between the museum curator and Mr. Kalashnikov, the curator thought I would be appropriate for the card to stay there in the museum and Mr. Kalashnikov felt the best place would be at his personal residence. To date the winner of the argument is yet to be determined…

Again, on behalf of Arsenal, Inc, THANK YOU to everyone who participated and made this possible.
<div

ATF will continue to utilize our expertise in conducting firearms trafficking investigations, and will trace each firearm purchased or seized in this operation to determine who else may be facilitating illegal firearm sales.”

LAPD Captain Kevin McCarthy stated: “Today’s arrests were the result of a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles Police Department, ATF and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. By bringing together each agency’s unique expertise, we were able to effectively and efficiently stop this firearm and drug trafficking ring. LAPD will continue to work jointly with other agencies to further reduce crime in our city.”

The arrests were made today as Prado apparently made plans to collect a “debt” and possibly kidnap a man he said owed money to La Familia. Over the past several weeks, Prado allegedly had a series of conversations with the undercover operative about helping collect a large “debt” that a man owed to La Familia. According to the affidavit, Prado told the informant that a boss in the cartel that he called “Cuete” had sent a courier to Mexico to transport narcotics, but the courier was arrested and provided information to Mexican authorities that led to the arrest of another high-ranking cartel member in Mexico City. As a result of this, “Cuete” owed the Cartel $3 million. If the informant participated in the collection of the “debt,” Prado promised him a share of money that would be paid by the cartel.

A criminal complaint filed in United States District Court in Los Angeles charges Prado with selling firearms without a license and distributing methamphetamine. Garcia is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Blanks is charged with possession of a machine gun. Velasquez is charged with distribution of methamphetamine.

If convicted of the crimes alleged in the criminal complaint, the defendants would face maximum potential sentences of at least 10 years in prison.

A criminal complaint contains allegations that a defendant has committed a crime. Every defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation that led to today’s arrests was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Los Angeles Police Department. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department provided substantial assistance in this morning’s operation.

CONTACT: Special Assistant United States Attorney Shawn Nelson Violent and Organized Crime Section (213) 894-5339 Release No. 09-090

About:
AimSurplus Guns & Ammunition

Middletown, OH - -(AmmoLand.com)- New Romanian Cugir Factory GP-WASR 10/63 Semi-automatic 7.62×39 caliber Rifles.

Features a chrome lined barrel and side optics rail mount.

Includes 2 New Tapco 30rd polymer magazines, Bayonet, and other assorted accessories.

Typical SPECS: (Does not necessarily describe the above AimSurplus GP-WASR 10/63)

A GP WASR-10 is a Romanian semi-automatic AKM (aka AK-47) clone. This version of the rifle has a pistol grip and can accept Hi-capacity magazines because the receiver was milled out.

The end of the barrel has threads, a bayonet lug, and comes with a muzzle brake. It uses the standard AK-47 7.62*39 cartridge.

The fit and finish of this rifle is average; this rifle has wood similar to the SAR and some minor machining marks. The glaring disadvantage of this rifle is some machining burrs on the mag-well should be removed with a file because it causes some magazines to fit tightly. Also this rifle lacks the dimples for to keep the Hi-capacity magazines from wobbling side to side, and instead have plates welding inside the receiver.

This rifle has 10 Imported parts and 5 US parts. The advantages of this rifle are its reliability, cheap ammo, large selection of replacement parts, accepts single and double stack magazines, comes with a threaded barrel, and now has a bayonet lug.

This is a good starter AK and is great if you cannot find a SAR-1, want to save some money, or want an AK that accepts both single and double stack magazines with all the post AW ban features.

Price: $499.95ea<br
