The new die sets are available as full length sizing , neck size and a three die deluxe set including both full length and neck sizing dies plus a seating die with crimp.

This wildcat cartridge has gained great favor as an alternative to standard handgun calibers under Indiana’s Regulation, allowing the use of cartridges with a bullet diameter of .357 or larger and a maximum case length of 1.625” to be used in rifles during their firearms deer season. It has the ability to be used in both bolt action and modern sporting rifle styles and produces sound terminal ballistics on whitetail deer.

Innovation on the part of the firearms owner has produced many great new cartridges which have over time become standards of our trade. Extreme Shock USA Announces A Breakthrough In Ammunition Engineering

CLINTWOOD, VA --(AmmoLand.com)- In regards to self-defense with a firearm, you always plan for the worst case scenario. That’s why it’s best to choose a bullet that will put the maximum advantage in your corner. Extreme Shock frangible ammunition is the logical choice.

However, before going into the reasons why, I cannot stress heavily enough on the importance of training. A person who has practiced once a week with a .32ACP will beat a person who carries, but has never fired a .44 Magnum. I cannot teach these things in this article, but I can recommend solid ammunition.

The important question to be asked, of course, is: What makes a good self-defense ammunition?

Simply put, the point is not to wound or kill your attacker. The point is to stop him in his tracks from hurting you. This is commonly referred to as either “Stopping Power” or “Knock-Down Power”. This is a bullet’s ability to incapacitate an assailant – the greater the ability, the less chance your attacker will be able to do you harm after he is shot.

So we find ourselves back at the original question; what makes a good self-defense ammunition?

1. You are safer because your attacker is incapacitated after one or two shots and thus unable to do you injury.
2. Innocent bystanders and third parties are safer because frangible bullets will not exit the body and go on to injure someone else.
3. The ricochet danger is eliminated thus reducing secondary casualties stated above.
4. Furthermore, frangible bullet’s stopping power takes the target down quickly so that they won’t be spraying wild lead core bullets around again endangering uninvolved third parties
5. This ammunition is reliable. You entrusting your most valuable possession to it’s dependability, your life.
6. Lastly, use of Extreme Shock will strengthen your defense in court in the ensuing aftermath. Use of Extreme Shock shows that you had concern for the safety of others, used the minimum of force to eliminate the threat ( you didn’t use a magazine of ammo), and reduced your collateral damage.

It is my hope that no one who reads this article ever finds themselves in a situation that warrants the use of a firearm to defend him or herself. But remember, Plan for the worst. Be safe, stay vertical.

Las Vegas NV,- -(Ammoland.com)- The SHOT Show, for those of you unfamiliar with it, is the largest shooting and hunting exposition in the world. Designed for distributors and dealers to see new products and prepare their buying activities for the new year. It was held in Las Vegas this year and will return there in 2011 and 2012.

Three of us from Sinclair walked the show for four (4) days and met with many of the manufacturers we deal with. I wanted to try to give you a brief rundown of some of the things we saw that may be of interest to you.

Lapua
The big news from Lapua is the introduction of their new .308 Winchester brass with the small primer pocket. A lot of reloaders and wildcatters have been looking forward to this and their will be quite a demand when it hits the shelf. Lapua is also adding the 22-250 Remington case in their line. We have been after them to make the 22-250 case for years. Not only will this be a plus for the 22-250 Remington reloaders but also for the folks wanting to use it as a parent case.

We also will be adding some additional Lapua bullets and Lapua ammunition to our line in the near future.

Berger Bullets
We spent quite a bit of time with the crew from Berger. They are working additional shifts to try to get their production up to meet the increased demand for their product – that’s great news. They also let us know that they are working on some new 7mm bullets in the 180 grain weight range that promise to have some of the highest B.C.’s of any bullets they have ever produced. Also, getting ready to be tested are some 6mmm benchrest bullets of a new design. We will continue to keep you posted as we get more details when these new bullets will be available.

Norma Precision
The 6 PPC brass from Norma is back and will be stronger and longer lasting than before. We are looking forward to seeing this brass in the next couple of months. We’ll be adding some target bullets from the Norma line soon along with some of their super accurate ammunition.

Hornady Manufacturing
I mentioned in the cover letter about a couple of their new reloading tools; the Hornady Sonic Brass Cleaner and the Hornady Lock N’ Load Auto Charge Powder Dispenser. We are looking forward to their arrival in the next month or so. A big talk lately has been Hornady’s Superformance Ammunition. This ammunition utilizes progressive propellants that add 100 to 200 FPS over conventional factory ammunition. These specially blended powders increase velocity without increases in felt recoil, muzzle blast, temperature sensitivity, fouling or loss of accuracy. This stuff will be hard to get but we should be getting some allocated to us as soon as it becomes available.

NRA Chooses Winchester’s PDX1 Line As Ammunition Product Of The Year

NEWTOWN, Conn. – -(AmmoLand.com)- The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) has admitted that its proposed ban on traditional shot in the state’s 72 state-owned wildlife management areas is nothing more than a “trial balloon” to see how sportsmen in the state will react.

The FWP proposal has drawn the ire of many groups, including the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry.

In a letter sent last week to FWP Director Joe Maurier, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel Lawrence G. Keane, stated, “The NSSF maintains that wildlife management policy must be based on science, not on popular opinion or political or symbolic gesture. The FWP has not provided any scientific evidence to support its proposed ban on traditional shot.”

A recent article in the Billings Gazette (”State proposed ban lead shot on some lands draws criticism,” January 20, 2010) quoted an FWP spokesman as saying “There’s nothing to suggest lead shot poses any risk to upland game bird species.”

The spokesman went on to say that “Montana’s tentative ban was proposed only to be consistent with the federal ban and other lead shot bans on certain tribal lands” and “there are no biological reasons to ban lead shot.”

NSSF has made clear that adoption of the proposed ban would be more likely to hurt state and local economies, rather than help wildlife in the Big Sky state. The proposed ban would force hunters to use steel shot or other more costly ammunition alternatives. This would make hunting more expensive and ultimately lead to a decline in hunters, hunter support and hunter generated income.

“In the end, the FWP’s proposal is an attempt to base wildlife management decisions on a popularity contest and not sound science,” said Keane.

Patent(s) Pending, the design incorporates small ports perpendicular to the base of the hollow point cavity, allowing the air, which normally becomes trapped after contact with the target to escape, allowing the target tissue to immediately fill the cavity causing the bullet to begin expanding just after impact.

Remington Managed-Recoil Ammunition Named Rifle Ammo of the Year

NEWTOWN, Conn. –-(AmmoLand.com)- The National Shooting Sports Foundation has notified members that, as demand for ammunition continues to outpace supply,

“it is critically important that an amendment authored by Rep. Sam Graves (R-Mo.) to a seemingly obscure hazardous material bill (HR 4016) be attached to the legislation during consideration on the House floor.”

The NSSF notes that the amendment being pushed by Graves will help protect the shipment of materials necessary for the manufacturing of ammunition, and warns that without the Graves Amendment, the rate of production will slip, perhaps precipitously.

In turn, decreased production of ammunition will lead to decreased availability. This will lead to an increase in ammunition prices directly affecting consumers.
