Led by park interpreter Bob Wild, this beginner archery program will introduce participants to the basics of archery target shooting. Archery equipment for most ages and abilities will be available for use during the free, one-hour program. Participants should meet at the park’s winter recreation area middle parking lot.

To learn more about this event or the many other Recreation 101 or interpretive nature programs offered each week at the park, go online to www.michigan.gov/dnrvisitorcenters and click on Wilderness Visitor Center to see a schedule of events.

Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park is located at 33303 Headquarters Rd., Ontonagon, in the western Upper Peninsula. For more information, contact the park at 906-885-5206 or go online to www.michigan.gov/porkies.

The Recreation Passport has replaced motor vehicle permits for entry into Michigan state parks, recreation areas and state-administered boating access fee sites. Michigan residents can purchase the Recreation Passport ($10 for motor vehicles; $5 for motorcycles) by checking “YES” on their license plate renewal forms, or at any state park or recreation area. Nonresident motor vehicles must still display a valid nonresident Recreation Passport ($29 annual; $8 daily) to enter a Michigan state park, recreation area or state-administered boating access fee site; these can be purchased at any state park or recreation area, or through the Michigan e-Store at www.michigan.gov/estore.
