With an overall length of 6 ¾ inches it weighs 20 ounces and has a fixed frame rear sight and a ramped front sight with a standard hammer. A DAO hammer is available upon request.

The Charter Arms .40 caliber provides a rimless cartridge extractor assembly and a method of use that solves a long felt need in the firearms industry. It provides a dual coil spring assembly located in the extractor to allow the insertion and retention of a .40 caliber cartridge in each chamber of the revolvers’ cylinder.

After firing, this unique system allows the shooter easy ejection of spent cartridges for immediate reloading. Charter Arms has taken the difficulty of rimless loading and ejection to the simplicity of the rimmed cartridge in the revolver industry.

Nick Ecker, president of Charter Arms, said, “The Pit Bull is the ideal revolver for law enforcement officers to use as their back up, because they can now carry a revolver that utilizes the same ammo as their sidearm. And for the .40 caliber enthusiast, it gives them the first revolver that shoots their ammo without utilizing moon clips.”

Founded in 1964, Charter Arms manufactures a full line of revolvers made by professional, skilled American craftsmen in Shelton, CT, in the heart of New England’s “Gun Valley.” Steeped rich in tradition with unmatched customer service, Charter Arms revolvers are consistently associated with personal protection because of their strength, reliability and accuracy. class="wp-caption-text">Charter Arms

Shelton, CT, -(Ammoland.com)- Charter Arms is proud to support a central figure in today’s legal struggle to protect and defend Second Amendment rights in the United States, especially during the upcoming meetings of the National Rifle Association in Pittsburgh, PA,. Dick Heller, a Washington D.C. resident whose 2008 victory in the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed his right to own a firearm in the nation’s capital, will be at the Charter Arms exhibition booth #4119 to meet attendees of the NRA Annual Meetings; and to display a commemorative firearm manufactured by the skilled American craftsmen of Charter Arms recognizing the historic Heller decision.

For forty-seven years, Charter Arms has proudly manufactured a full line of revolvers in Shelton, CT, the heart of New England’s Gun Valley. Following Heller’s victory in the U.S. Supreme Court, Charter Arms president Nick Ecker commissioned a specially engraved and uniquely serial numbered version of its iconic .44 Special revolver, the .44 Bulldog. Each Bulldog is elaborately decorated and specially packaged for discerning firearms collectors with a certificate of authenticity and an engraved knife inside a hardwood and glass display case in a limited edition production aiming to raise funds for continued legal battles in defense of Second Amendment rights. (For details, see http://www.charterfirearms.com/products/Heller.html.)

Charter Arms President Nick Ecker points out, “Heller’s victory affirmed the Second Amendment as an individual right, but the fight continues to secure real and practical protection under the Second Amendment. Now he’s engaged in another court battle to overcome the District’s attempts for onerous licensing requirements and restrictions on modern-designed firearms. Charter Arms supports his continuing fight with funding for the Heller Foundation (http://www.hellerfoundation.org/) and his ally in the fight, the U.S. Bill of Rights Foundation (http://www.usbor.org/).”

Dick Heller will be greeting NRA members and other attendees at the Charter Arms exhibition booth #4119 Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 12 pm and 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm during the NRA Meetings Friday, April 28 to Sunday, May 1 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. Members of the media can secure an interview appointment with both Nick Ecker and Dick Heller, with a call to Lisa Cinquino at (203) 881-8381.

About:
Ammoland.com)- Charter Arms, manufacturer of American-made affordable and reliable revolvers for over forty-six years, has named Professional Marketing Inc., of Starkville, Mississippi and W.L. Carter Company of College Station, Texas as their latest manufacturer’s representatives serving dealers and distributors.

Nick Ecker, president of Charter Arms revealed why he chose PMI, saying, “I really admire Tom Wiley’s passion as an entrepreneur and businessman in our industry. Charter Arms has always had a very strong following in the southeast states and now with Tom and his team, they will broaden our reach to bring Charter Arms directly to neighborhood shooting sports dealers and distributors in the southeast.”

Tom Wiley, president of Professional Marketing, Inc., said, “In recently visiting the Charter Arms factory, I was impressed how the employees take great pride in their work and the sense of family spirit that permeates the plant. ‘Whatever it Takes’ is our company philosophy and with that approach we believe we will grow sales and profits for our clients while maintaining professional and ethical principles. That philosophy aligns itself perfectly with Charter Arms’ tradition and Charter’s terrific customer service.”

Nick Ecker additionally notes, “The W.L. Carter Company thoroughly covers, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma, the TALO states, which recently have seen an increase in the number of new concealed carry licenses issued. In Texas alone, there were more than four hundred thousand people licensed for concealed carry at the beginning of this year, and many of those newly licensed are women. We’re expecting to bring our popular colored frame revolvers to those women who want to establish their style while carrying an affordable and reliable firearm.”

Tim Locker of W.L. Carter Company predicts, “Our team of reps will be developing a regional marketing plan for Charter Arms that will broadly expand its brand among distributors, retailers and their loyal customers. We are excited to be a part of the Charter team and proud to represent the industry standard of American made revolvers. Seeing firsthand the hand craftsmanship of each Charter revolver and the first class customer service sealed our relationship. We will carry that same message to our customers so they will better understand the uniqueness of Charter Arms and their quality products in today’s business environment.”

Founded in 1964, Charter Arms manufactures a full line of revolvers made by professional, skilled American craftsmen in Shelton, CT, in the heart of New England’s firearm valley. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Charter Arms, manufacturer of American made revolvers has added the Off Duty .38 Special and Undercover Lite .38 Special models to its line of personal defense revolvers.

Both models are available in a high polish stainless steel finish with a matte black frame. Distributors attending the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers Annual Meeting and Expo in Louisville, KY later this week will have the opportunity to see them up close at Charter Arms booth No.133.

Charter Arms President, Nick Ecker said, “What’s unique to both the Off Duty and the Undercover Lite is the high polish finish which offers a traditional look, while the matte black frame creates a futuristic appearance and style. These two new finishes complement the other models in the product line that have grown in popularity. Our customers will appreciate both models are sleek in appearance and were designed for concealable activities.”

The five shot, two inch barrel of the Off Duty and Undercover Lite frame are made from 7075 Aircraft Quality Aluminum which assures superior strength. Both models weigh 14 ounces, with serrated front and rear notched sights and come with combat rubber grip panels that can be changed out to a Crimson Trace Grip.

The Off Duty has an internal (DAO) double action hammer, allowing the firearm to be shot repeatedly through the pocket without snagging, while the Undercover Lite model has an external standard hammer. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- MKS Supply announces that the company will no longer be the exclusive marketer of the Charter Arms product line effective October 19, 2010.

Charles Brown, President of MKS Supply said, “Charter Arms and MKS Supply have had a mutually beneficial relationship for the past five years and together we have successfully brought a number of new revolvers to market.

Today we find our business philosophies are not aligned. thus making an exclusive relationship no longer feasible. We still have an inventory of Charter revolvers available to our distributors while supplies last.”

MKS Supply is the marketer of Hi-Point Firearms and the company is expanding its offering of Italian-made Chiappa firearms.

Brown continued, “We’re very excited about expanding our Chiappa line—the company builds exceptionally high-quality guns at very attractive prices. Chiappa has been manufacturing firearms for over 50 years and their focus is on authentic reproductions of classic historic and modern firearms. MKS Supply will be carrying a range of Chiappa’s modern firearm reproductions including the venerable model 1911 and the M4-22 Carbine semiautomatic rifle—both chambered in .22 LR. It’s the best of both worlds, you can own a classic design and enjoy hours of recreational shooting using inexpensive .22 caliber ammo.”

Charter Arms

Dayton, OH - -(AmmoLand.com)- Nowadays with so many sexy new semi-automatics coming out in the market, it is easy to forget so-called old school technology and why it remains efficient and excellent for self-defense in today’s world of nifty new firearms.

Unfortunately so-called old school wheel guns except those in the newer cannon calibers are many times seen as so what guns.

Can this be true? Is a $395 revolver designed for self-defense really worth anything anymore in this day of high-capacity $900 semi-autos with every option and feature you can think of including even a bayonet lug and fancy $600 revolvers that will hold a ton of ammo?

We think yes.
First, it really is better to NOT to even have to point a gun at a potential or actual attacker or worse yet to have to shoot one. The real mission is to get out of that mess unharmed and obviously alive. While it makes for interesting macho conversation to talk about filling a drug filled attacker with lead or blowing their head off with bird shot (if their head is a watermelon), the reality is that getting away from a bad situation alive and unharmed is the best option. If that means having to run from an attacker who is armed with a knife while you have a revolver in your hand and the result is you get away without having to shoot him, that’s still the best deal.

However, if the situation has progressed to the last resort where the time for deadly force self-defense shooting and stopping the attacker (never with the goal of “killing them”) is all you may have left, and then you had better have a reliable firearm in a sufficient caliber to stop the attack with you when you need it most.

Charter Arms Undercover Lite Black Revolver

The Advantages of Revolvers for Self Defense
As a deterrent, revolvers are easily recognized as a firearm, even in reduced light, especially if manufactured in a visible finish. Revolvers are quickly recognized as guns even by dumb bad guys. The revolver communicates that this is a real gun and not something else like a can of soda, etc. This recognition may save you from having to fire to convince him further.

No normal person wants to shoot someone. Many folks forget that even if everything goes their way in a shooting, there are legal costs, potential lawsuits, and the long-term mental stress and strain of having shot someone. And if the DA feels it was not necessary, or there are other elements in the case he thinks he can prove against you then the problems will get worse.

Bottom line the mere sight of a recognizable real-looking and loaded firearm will stop many an attacker in their tracks!

Here are some points to consider:

There is little doubt a revolver is loaded and many times the threat/attacker will see it’s loaded by simply looking at the cylinder and seeing the ammunition in it. Many people paint a light coating of liquid paper or white paint on the bullet tips to make them more visible for deterrent value.

Revolvers are quick and easy to operate. Simply draw, aim and fire. No switches or tricky functioning, stoppages or other malfunctions; they will work when they are most needed!

Any trainer will tell you that revolvers require less training than semi-autos to fire competently and safely thus making them the best firearm for the average citizen for self-defense purposes.

Revolvers are very fast to get into action, incredibly reliable and nearly foolproof.

Some people feel revolver trigger pulls, especially in double-action mode are heavy (you read about it in every gun test magazine article and blog). But in life and death adrenalin-filled situations the pull of a revolver trigger is not even noticed by the shooter, nor the sound or recoil. Light triggers are one reason why accidental semi-auto discharges are so common especially when people are under stress (contagious fire from police officers is a sad example of this). The double action revolver is actually safer because you do not want to accidentally shoot anyone.

Revolvers are generally much more affordably priced than most semi-automatic pistols.

Today’s revolver ammunition is much more effective than that of just 20 years ago. Charter Arms revolvers offer powerful loadings in compact and lightweight revolvers that include: 32 H&R Magnum, .38 Special +P, .327 Federal Magnum, .357 Magnum and .44 Special calibers. Typically a 2” barrel will lose only 30-85 fps velocity over a 4-inch barrel, so snub barrels are not a significant velocity disadvantage but do present a definite easy carry and quick to action advantage. Few bad guys will complain that the bullets you hit them with were not going fast enough.

Ammunition mix can be significant. A revolver can digest and fire any ammunition chambered for that particular firearm. This can be any type of bullet design or ammunition mix you may wish to carry, such as perhaps the first two shots being frangible high-expansion ammunition followed by heavier hollow-point or even solid loads. Revolvers are not sensitive to the bullet design or velocity (low recoil loads may not function some semi-autos) and when it comes to defending one’s life, this choice of load option is a very real advantage.

While high-capacity autos are popular, well known shooters like Jeff Cooper and Mass Ayoob and many other professional shooters have argued for years (and we paraphrase) it’s accuracy that counts, not all of those high-capacity magazine, liability loaded, people-and- property damaging misses. Bottom line is that you will be held legally responsible for every shot you fire; hits and misses.

Charter Arms’ compact, lightweight revolvers offer tremendous power-to-size ratios and, due to grip and overall design, they are very easy to draw, point and control. Many short-grip and compact autos (especially small autos in effective stopping calibers) can, due to size and especially ergonomic configuration, be very difficult to draw, grasp and control in a real world reactive life or death adrenaline-packed encounter where survival depends on draw speed, correct grip (purchase) and operational control.

We may tend to forget that at the firing range without a real death threat we generally take the extra time to acquire a proper and firm grip with a compact effective-caliber semi-auto. But, in a panic packed confrontation we don’t have that luxury and it consistently shows up in high-stress tactical training and of course in real life and death encounters. For this reason the lightweight compact revolver is well-suited for the average citizen who wants effective protection and professionals in need of a solid, effective primary and totally reliable back-up firearm in a fight stopping caliber.

Many licensed concealed-carry permit holders may start with good intentions to carry, but the enthusiasm wanes quickly if their firearm is wrong for them: Too wide of a cylinder or too thick of a slide, too heavy, too big, too long or uncomfortable and many will eventually stop carrying their firearm.

Charter Arms’ revolvers boast the lightest weights and most-compact revolver designs.

Shooters at any level do NOT buy a short-barreled compact revolver to take to the range and plink, hunt or shoot targets with. Yet people will talk and blog endlessly about so-called “excessive recoil,” short barrel sight radiuses, etc. as though target shooting, plinking and hunting are why the person initially bought the compact firearm in the first place. Their technically irrelevant remarks relate to snub nose revolvers with the same credibility as comparing a Ferrari to a dump truck. While each vehicle has an engine, doors and tires but they sure are not the same and to compare these two vehicles against each other is like comparing compact revolvers to larger firearms is just chatter.

Also revolvers are built to fire many thousands of rounds of ammunition over a lifetime. Very few people will ever put more than 1,000 rounds (twenty 50-round boxes) through their handgun. So talking as if they will become the person’s next lifetime 10,000-round shooter is interesting, but not realistic.

Accuracy testing: Many talk of testing handgun accuracy at 25 and even 50-yards. Actually, testing short-barreled revolvers at ranges over 10 yards is sort of like testing an over-the-counter hunting rifle at the 1,000-yard line at Camp Perry. Ninety percent of big-game kills are made at ranges under 200-yards which is why most writers (who know their audience and their readers’ abilities) test rifles at 100-200 yards—it’s a realistic distance.

Yet, some of the very same people (and bloggers for sure) talk of testing short barrel self-defense handguns at 25 yards (a recognized NRA competition distance) when the intended and real use is at encounter ranges typically (according to FBI data, too) under 5 yards. We have tested 2-inch barreled Charters at 50 yards (hand held off a rest) and the rounds will stay in a 6 inch circle and they will stay in a chest size target at 200 yards, yes 200 yards—but is that realistic?

Let’s Get Real:
The reality is that the bad guy wants you and/or your money. To get to you and/or your money he needs to get much closer. When inserting bullet holes into an attacker at long range, the shooter had better be able to prove that that the attacker was able, capable (had the weapon reach), the willingness and, demonstrated through his actions, was actively trying to cause and could cause great bodily harm at that longer distance. Generally, if not, the defender will get to see first hand how our criminal and civil court cases work concerning their long range shooting skills.

Then again allowing anyone you feel is a serious threat to get you to get within a car length is very dangerous for you unless you have already drawn the firearm. It has been demonstrated many times in real life and in training that from 20 feet, a guy with a knife will can easily close that distance and cut you to ribbons before you can draw your firearm, let alone fire it effectively to stop him in time. This is one reason why in a bad situation your first goal if at all possible is to get something between you. IE: car, desk, trash can, fence, gate, tree, or a great distance!

Muzzle Flash:
Many feel muzzle flash is a disadvantage. On the battlefield it is because it gives away one’s position and makes the shooter and his unit vulnerable to lethal counter-fire (many times from superior weapons and multiple-attackers). Reduced muzzle flash may be an advantage to hunters since the flash from a high-powered rifle might spook an animal before the bullet or the sound arrives, but muzzle flash has little or no effect on the shooter, even when (if) seen through a scope sight, even for follow up shots.

Handgun muzzle flash (regardless of type of handgun) can actually work to your advantage. If you are under assault it is pretty obvious the attacker knows where you are; well no duh! If you must fire to protect your life, muzzle flash giving away your position is hardly a concern.

When a handgun is fired at an attacker close in (especially at night or in reduced light conditions) the attacker facing the muzzle gets all of the flash, every glorious bright bit of it. This can cause some temporary blinding (flash-bulb effect) as well as a tremendous psychological effect even if not struck by the bullet. In addition, if the attacker is very close and if the defender misses (it happens much more than you might think at ranges under 10 feet with any gun—just watch the cop shows where both cops and bad guys spray bullets all over) the attacker gets massive noise, flash, heat, and certainly some hot powder particles all of which may diminish the attack somewhat and that may be all the time you need for follow up shots.

However, the defending shooter will only see some flash over the top of the revolver, not the whole ball of bright light the attacker gets. Another advantage in dark or low light conditions is the flash silhouettes the defender’s sights. This can help the defender adjust quickly for a second shot (experienced and practiced shooters can routinely take advantage of this, even in total darkness). This brief instant of flash can be even be utilized by less-experienced shooters also; they just need to be made aware of it and how it can help them.

We feel (regardless of firearm) that a bright muzzle flash is an advantage in nearly all self-defense situations that goes to the defender and is a distinct disadvantage to the attacker—and for what it is worth, shorter barrels deliver more flash.

Getterdun
The key to compact, lightweight self-defense revolver design-and an advantage over compact semi-autos-is that Charter Arms revolvers are comfortable to carry and will be with you if needed. Think about this: Regardless of size, cost, and bells and whistles, if you get lost in the woods the best knife in the world is the knife you have with you when you need it. The same applies to conceal-carry self-defense handguns. If you have a big moocho macho super auto., fat high capacity or fancy revolver and it’s too big, heavy or uncomfortable to carry you may not have it with you if you need it.

The handgun (semi-auto or revolver) must fit. Revolvers can be quickly drawn with a nearly perfect properly registered grip. Most trainers instruct their students to draw fast then hit the brakes, aim quickly and shoot effectively.

We hope you can see that the short-barreled self-defense revolver shines even in these days of what’s the latest. When it comes to close-in self-defense, Charter Arms manufactures the lightest, most-compact, most-reliable, safest, and most effective-reactive self-defense revolvers in the industry. Charter Arms’ revolvers do the job they were designed to do and that’s all you can ask from any firearm.

Anatomy of a Charter Arms Revolver

Specific Notes On Charter Arms Revolvers:

Don’t Confuse Affordable With Cheap: Charter revolvers are the most affordable high-quality handguns in the market. Period! If you want to pay more, then just offer your retailer an extra $100, he will appreciate the generosity.

Lightweight: The ultra-light aluminum frame models are made from tough 7075 aircraft aluminum alloy. They are the lightest in the industry.

Compact: They are, for their calibers, the most compact (easy to carry) revolvers in the market.

Machining: Charter Arms revolvers are 100-percent U.S.A. made and are fully warranted—forever! That’s right. Forever! This unique warranty follows the gun not just the first buyer.

Hammer Travel/Lock Time: Fastest in the industry for a factory production revolver.

Fewer Parts: Through advanced engineering they have fewer parts (less opportunity for failure).

Safest Hammer Block System In The Industry: It’s true. Did you know that Charter Arms invented the hammer block system (and concept) you see on all new firearms? Charter freely gave this valuable technology to the industry (even Charter’s direct competitors) to keep all shooters safer with this new invention regardless of brand or design.

Solid Side Plate: Actually no (screw-on) side plate at all. The result is a much stronger overall frame (less flex), and it is made possible in part to number 6 above.

Three Point (not two) Cylinder Lock Up results in superior strength and improved accuracy.

The Crane (also called the yoke) is held in place by the frame: Other revolvers use 100-year old technology to hold the yoke in place with a small screw that by itself must resist recoil momentum. While it works the side screw can loosen or fail. On Charter revolvers the yoke is retained in the frame itself resulting in significantly more strength and some accuracy advantage.

Eight Groove Button Rifled Barrel: Only Charter has it. The result is better gas sealing which results in higher-velocities. Unlike the deeper and more abrasive lands and grooves in other brands which can distort the bullet some. The result is Charters’ accuracy is better, too.

Manufacturing/Engineering Quality: Highest in the industry. If you want it pretty, shiny, or modified somehow Charter can do that-too, it just costs more and does not make it shoot one bit better. But for a highly affordable, user friendly and effective working self-defense firearm that a person will carry and not be afraid to knock around, Charter Arms makes the best.

About Pretty and Shiny: The U.S. Army Rangers have a saying: “Train like you fight, fight like you train.” It means just that too. Under life-and-death pressure you will act and handle your firearms just as you do in practice or in everyday life. It’s a psychological fact, if you baby your expensive, shiny, pretty gun in practice you will baby it when you need it.

Charter Arms revolvers are made to be used and used hard. This means you can toss one in your tackle box, pack, under your car floor mat, or wherever (as long as it is legal), so it is there to protect your life when you need it.

If you want a high-quality, reliable, affordable and good looking working gun that comes with a lifetime warranty and a gun you will not be afraid to have with you when you need it, well, that’s what Charter Arms makes.

Charter Arms firearms may be seen at Charter Arms

Dayton, OH --(AmmoLand.com)- Background: As a PR/media relations firm we look at anything and everything to help our clients-that’s our job. When we first started representing Charter Arms we were not fond of their long and cumbersome charterfirearms.com URL.

We asked, why not just the actual brand name of charterarms.com (skip the firearms). We were told that charterarms.com had been taken by a cyber squatter and it was felt that nothing could be done about that. We knew better!

Ramifications: This kind of thing can affect trademarks through dilution as well as copyrights so we advised Charter to go after the cyber squatter. The particular cyber squatter (people or companies that register other company’s names) is super rich and one, if not the biggest in the world with hundreds of thousands of URLs registered to them. They were using charterarms.com with a link to the actual Charter site and even had their own graphics department design a nifty looking home page representing Charter Arms on their squatted site to the consumer.

Real money makers: A cyber squatter with as few as 1,000 squatted domains (which at this volume cost nearly nothing to register) can make really big money. Now let’s say the squatter has ten advertiser links on each domain site and gets just 100 connections a day for each of those ten companies at 1/10 cent each. He will earn around $1,000 a day-so it pays to be a cyber squatter. There is more money to be made in other ways depending on what the linked companies pay the search engines and which the squatter gets part of, but you get the idea.

The battle: We advised Charter what and how to do what they needed to do.Cyber squatters don’t give up easily (especially true in this case) if they are headquartered outside the U.S. Charter Arms management fought the good fight and after much wrangling in the legal world as well as involvement with ICAN, the international body that governs website registrations…

We win: Charter Arms management would not be bullied by a multi-billion dollar (yeah, billion) cyber squatter and fought back and won. Charter recently got its registered trademarked domain name back for the first time. So now we will be known as charterarms.com but will also retain and use the old URL name charterfirearms.com link. Plans are to use the shorter version on ads and other communications in the future. We will show only the shorter version www.charterarms.com on our releases and ask you to do so in any works you might publish.

However, this points out that right is right and a company does have a legal and business right to its name on the Internet-especially if it is their registered trademark, ya just have talk the talk and walk the walk and be ready to seriously fight for your rights and good name.

YOU ARE INVITED:
We hope you will take a look at our recently revised website and tell us what you think. The About Us tab will give you a quick look at a portion of the assembly process.

What’s our web address? Oh yeah, it’s Charter Arms

Charter Arms, Dayton, OH, - -(AmmoLand.com)- Sold at auction in May 2009 for $258,750 (not including buyer commission–estimated total $270,000) the one and only prop-pistol used by Harrison Ford’s character in the 1982 futuristic 2019 movie, Blade Runner.

The so-called Hero Gun was used to blast artificially-created people called replicants (they so deserved it too).

A Charter Arms .44 Special Bulldog revolver with a 4-inch barrel formed the base for the blaster. Attached to the top of the pistol is a bolt action Steyr Mannlicher SL receiver in .222 Remington. The rifle magazine extends below the revolver’s barrel and there is no barrel on the rifle receiver-it just rests atop the Charter Arms barrel, looking cool in a ugly sort of way.

The Bulldog is fitted with two double set triggers which we assume are from the Steyr action and a large custom-made trigger guard. Custom stocks (grips) were constructed from amber colored plastic and were fitted to the Bulldog frame along with an aluminum grip base extension. The cylinder area was covered with a smooth panel for streamlining. Ya gotta figure the thing must weigh a ton.

Two-red and green operator-functioned LEDs were built into the handgun. They perform no function (well then again, what are we saying, nothing else performs a function either) but they look cool when functioned in the movie.

It is rumored that this particular revolver can still fire. Oooookay, Looking at how the rifle magazine is fitted, if that day comes, and we are offered the opportunity, someone else can have that honor; we still have all ten of our digits.

It may still have to be registered as an actual firearm since it has, well, two actual firearm receivers each with serial numbers.

How parts of that 4473 Federal form might read:

Type: Replicant Blaster
Manufacturer: Charteyrman,
Action: revolrifl
Caliber: .222.44 RemSpec
Serial Number: 522368588594355

Having seen Blade Runner a couple of times we admit, we just never noticed/analyzed this stuff, just saw a cool looking gun zapping bad guys.

This gun is so popular that replicas (oh, oh, more replicants) are made and sold in airsoft versions, and some hobbyists have created beautiful and accurate copies.

Just in case someone really ask’s… No, Charter Arms will not be building these.

About:
Charter Arms

Charter Arms, Dayton, OH - -(AmmoLand.com)- Charter Arms discloses the facts behind why their new and revolutionary rimless revolver is not yet out.

Let’s talk facts and not rumors:

The Charter Arms Rimless Revolver (CARR) is tested, patent checked, cleared and ready for production.

Initially the first models in .40 caliber were to appear this past March with following models in .45ACP and 9mm later this year.

BUT, since the 2008 election we don’t need to tell you what has happened with sales of firearms and ammunition in our country. Thanks to another terrific firearm salesman like President Clinton was in 1990, President Obama has pushed buying over the edge and companies are working like crazy just to keep up. This buying spree ramped firearm and ammunition demand up to astonishing levels in January 2009, and it has not slowed down.

And, that last entry is what is delaying things, here is why. Due to the incredible demand for firearms Charter is forced to stay the course by keeping dealers supplied with current model revolvers in order to meet current demand. In other words, the production line is pressed hard to fill the demand for current models. Therefore, it would be foolish to add more models at a time when just keeping up with current models is nearly impossible.

Second, it is unfair to consumers and dealers alike to come out with items you cannot produce in matching demand numbers. Currently, Charter just could not keep up if they added a whole new product line at this particular time.

Let’s be clear about what Charter Arms wanted to do initially. Needless to say, not producing the CARR this was NOT the plan when we first announced the new revolver. The 2008 election created this panic. Had the election results been different, firearm and ammunition demand and sales would not have exploded, and the new Charter Arms CARR revolvers would be in stores right now.

Bottom line, the CARR is not vaporware, there is simply no room in Charter Arm’s production line for new items. Additionally, Charter has several other new guns and models in addition to the CARR series, and those guns we won’t even discuss until things get back to normal.

We hope this helps you understand our current situation. Please spread the word and thanks to all of you for your support. By the way the NRA meetings in Phoenix expected 45,000 attendees and we heard got 64,000! Many people who never wanted or owned a firearm before are now gun owners and that all helps to support the Second Amendment specifically and protect our Constitution in general.

About:
Charter Arms

Charter Arms, Dayton, OH – -(AmmoLand.com)- Charter Arms new On Duty revolver is designed for concealed carry and back up. The key change in this revolver from other Charter’s is the semi-shrouded hammer.

The On Duty is made so that just the tip of the hammer spur sticks out so it may be used in either double-action or single-action.

There is very little hammer surface to hang up on clothing and if it were to hang up the high rear rails (sides) will most likely dislodge the clothing during the draw. Rarely does single-action mode get used in self-defense but on the range or when plinking single-action mode can make slow firing easier for new shooters; and revolvers are especially good for new shooters.

The above does not exclude the fact that in a self-defense situation there is so much adrenalin pumping a trigger can have the pull weight of the Titanic’s anchor and probably not even be felt. However, a heavier trigger pull actually works to the revolver’s advantage over a semi auto in most folk’s hands as it can help to some degree to prevent accidental discharges. Any good firearms trainer will tell you that the goal is to get out of the situation unharmed and if you can do that without launching lead, all the better, always.

Combine a 7075 aluminum alloy frame with a 2-inch stainless steel barrel and tough innards and you have a very compact 5-shot revolver weighing in at only 12-ounces.

The On Duty is Chambered in .38 Special + P. Today’s modern .38 Special loads are way beyond the days of 158 grain lead solids and round noses, and who remembers that 200 grain slow motion so-called special police load of the last century (makes us sound old doesn’t it?). Let’s face it the .38 Special is a highly-effective round for self-defense especially with today’s ammunition.

As you know revolvers have several advantages over semi-autos as immediate-action back up guns and for most civilian concealed carry revolvers just cannot be beat-well unless you are planning for an extended fire fight and if you plan for that you are going to all the wrong places in the first place.

MSRP: $430.00
At the NRA Convention in Phoenix come by booth 723 and see Charter’s new guns including the revolutionary Charter Arms Rimless Revolver, and the loud Lavender Lady and other new models.

Some Charter Arms advantages:

Lifetime warrantee-all American made.

Exclusive eight-groove gas sealing barrel.

Exclusive three-point cylinder lock up, no screw side plates.

Hammer block safety system which Charter invented and then gave freely to the gun industry for the safety of all shooters, this basic concept is on most all new handguns.

Charter’s fastest factory revolver-lock time.

Tags: Charter Arms Rimless Revolver Missing at SHOT Show!

While unpacking at the SHOT Show we got a call from the patent attorney saying that there were some additional things we needed to “clarify” and “tie down” before we should let anyone in the public domain see the actual gun and its full operational details due to the revolutionary concept and operation. Obviously, this information coming to us during our SHOT Show set up was not received with happy faces and a marching band on our part, but that’s the reality of applying for patent protection.

When you pay patent attorneys big bucks to do this type of highly-specialized and technical legal work you are also paying for their legal advice, and when they say “This is something we should not take a chance on” you should do what they suggest.

Therefore, the new revolver was not shown-to anyone from any organization or any media source. In fact we did not even bother to open the gun case it was packed in.

We hope you understand. Probably the next opportunity to get it in the hands of everyone will be the NRA Convention in May. However, we will continue to work the legalistic patent process and plan (hope) to have the .40 ready for media test and evaluation in April followed very soon afterwards with production guns.

We are behind our planned production schedule by about 2 to 3-months (welcome to the fun-filled world of patents and production).
Tags: Charter Arms

Charter Arms revolvers have been around since the 1960s, when Doug McClenehan and his best friend Doug Ecker decided to make a better revolver. McClenehan had a great deal of firearms experience from working for companies like Ruger Arms, Colt Arms, and High Standard, which allowed him to create some of the most affordable, high-quality firearms. Charter also had a brief stint producing Armalite AR7 rifles and pistols, which helped to maintain the cost of growth and further develop the Eugene Stoner design into pistols and standard rifles. The Charter Arms guns began as duty revolvers for law enforcement agents and concealed carry holders; now Charter Arms revolvers can be found in almost any gun shop around the country.

Charter Arms revolvers come in a wide range of calibers and configurations, making them ideal for all types of shooting, from plinking to duty guns, and everything in between. The last forty years have been a series of twists and turns for Charter firearms; you never knew what the company would do next. That all changed in 2005, when MKS Supply was contracted to maintain their sales and marketing, allowing Charter Arms to stick to what they do best: making guns.

MKS Supply Inc is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Charter Arms to perform all sales, marketing and distribution of Charter brand firearms. As you may know Charter Arms has been a popular 100% American made firearm providing reliable and reasonably priced revolvers for American firearm buyers for the past for decades.

This partnership between MKS Supply and Charter Arms will afford the manufacturer more time to concentrate on the increased production of its new Dixie Derringer 22 Long Rifle and 22 Magnum weighing 5 oz. and 6 oz. respectively. These beauties are available in stainless steel and feature the patented safety system.

MKS Supply is proud to be affiliated with Charter Arms and to be able to continue what starting in “Gun Valley” over 40 years ago, to provide a 100% American made gun that’s reasonably priced.

For more information contact MKS Supply at 937-454-0363 or visit www.mkssupply.com

Giving up on marketing helped take Charter Arms to the next level, rather than being stuck with interaction between customers, dealers, and other time-consuming parts of the firearms manufacturing process. This helped to make sheer volume Charter Arms’ main focus. This decision has proven to be the break Charter Arms needed, bringing them to the top ten handgun producers in the USA and getting their products back in the public eye.

Charter revolvers are now available in a wide range of models, including pink revolvers. A large number of firearms manufacturers have begun the new trend of producing firearms specifically for the female market, which Charter Arms has always done with the controllable recoil of their revolvers. The lightweight design is also compact enough to fit inside a woman’s purse, offering their users piece of mind. Another great feature is the Charter Arms South Paw, which is made specifically for left handed shooters.

Aside from the full-sized revolver, the Charter Dixie derringers have become a must-have for concealed carry enthusiasts, providing a simple, affordable revolver that can be stored anywhere. Charter Arms also has been credited with the design of the full hammer block safety system, which has been on all Charter revolvers since the 1960s. Another key feature of the Charter Arms revolvers is the three point locking system, which is exclusive to Charter firearms and cannot be found on even the most expensive revolvers.

The Charter Arms revolver is built like a tank and priced very competitively, leaving all other American manufactured revolvers in the dust. Many have still never heard of Charter’s outstanding revolvers. I know there are a wide range of competitors out there, but an American revolver that is less than four hundred dollars is certainly a rarity. In my experience, I would recommend the Charter Arms handguns for anybody looking for a solidly-designed, affordable revolver.
Tags: Charter Arms – Revolvers

Charter Arms, Dayton, OH --(AmmoLand.com)- Charter Arms announces the Charter Arms Rimless Revolver (CARR) a revolutionary new rimless revolver for popular semi-auto cartridges.

Problem: The major drawback to rimless semi-auto cartridges in revolvers is they require specially made revolvers. These low-production, somewhat scarce and, highly-specialized revolvers are limited to sometimes fragile and expensive moon/half moon ammunition clips. Generally, only revolver aficionados and collectors bother with (.45ACP and 9mm Parabellum) rimless revolvers. While they may sometimes be fired without the specialized moon clips, generally the ejector rod will not eject the free-floating fired cases (got a pencil?).

Solution: Charter Arms has come up with an affordable revolver that chambers rimless semi-auto rounds in the same manner as a standard rimmed-cartridge revolver.

Available Calibers: Charter Arms will first offer the .40 S&W chambering, followed quickly by the .45ACP and 9×19 mm Parabellum (the 9mm Parabellum revolver will also chamber factory .380ACP). All three of Charter Arms’ Rimless Revolvers (9mm, .40 and .45) are rated for higher velocity +P loadings.

Availability:
The first to be built will be the .40 caliber (currently there is no .40 available in any revolver). Charter Arms plan is the .40 should ship to distributors the first quarter of 2009. Some 90-120 days after the .40 the .45ACP will follow and some 90-120 days after the .45ACP the 9mm will follow

The advantage is now the average gun owner can own an affordable, trouble-free revolver chambered in these popular semi-auto rounds without the need for specialized ammunition clips and a specialized gun.

Back up and self-defense: For law enforcement work the always ready-to-fire, fiddle-factor-free revolver is the back up to have; especially if is the same caliber as the officer’s carry gun. As a primary self-defense carry gun, these three calibers mean reliable protection in popular semi-auto self defense-calibers.

If more power is needed, step up to +P ammo. The advantage with Charter Arms Rimless Revolvers is they will fire any mix of cartridges while maintaining 100% reliability. For plinking with .45ACP or 9mm surplus and discounted military type ammo, the affordable Charter Arms Rimless Revolver will prove to be very economical and it’s also a .380 revolver. Now that is fun!

The secret is the patent-pending Charter Arms Rimless Revolver Round System. Basically, when a round is loaded into the chamber a specialized spring engages the cartridge’s ejector groove. When the cylinder is opened and the ejector rod operated, it extracts and ejects the fired cases.

Models: Initially snubbarrels (2″ 9mm and 2.2″ .40 and .45ACP) as these revolvers are designed for self- defense and back up. The 9mm is built on Charter Arms’ compact and lightweight undercover platform featuring an aluminum frame and weighing only 12 ounces. The .40 and .45ACP built on the popular and robust Bulldog frame due to the larger diameter of these cartridges while maintaining a compact profile.

Availability: First quarter of 2009.

Warrantee: Charter Arms has an industry exclusive lifetime warranty on its revolvers.

MSRP Prices: 9mm $399.00, .40 $449.00, .45ACP $449.00

Brought to you by - AMMO LAND.COM – The Free Press Release Service for the Shooting Industry! Charter Arms Revolvers

Charter Arms, Dayton, OH, 2008 – Charter Arms new .327 Federal Magnum. Like its revolutionary 327 cubic-inch Chevrolet hot motor model namesake introduced in 1962 the .327 Federal Magnum round is a real hotrod too. Charter Arms new Patriot is the industry’s first snub nose revolver chambered for this potent round.

Designed for legal conceal-carry Charter Arms Patriot features 6-shot capacity and a 2.2-inch barrel, slick target front ramp and groove channel fixed sights. The second variation comes with a 4-inch barrel, target ramp sight and adjustable rear sights, and it too is chambered for 6-rounds. The good news is they are both at a great price point too and by the time you get this release Charter Arms is shipping the new revolvers to dealers in other words both are available. “We feel the .327 Federal Magnum is an excellent self defense round and the light weight and low price point coupled with our first 2,000 production promotion program (see below) makes a very attractive purchase.”— Charles Brown, MKS Supply, marketer of Charter Firearms.

Charter Arms Patriot 2.2-inch barrel conceal carry model is ideal for self defense with Federal’s 85-grain low recoil Hydra-Shok round which, based on Factory ammo. specs. for a 31/2 inch bbl. should yield about 1250-1280 fps from the 2.2 Patriot.

The Patriot is a good looking all stainless steel revolver with full size rubber grips. For a fun hard-shooter for plinking, hunting (where legal), target shooting and self defense the Patriot’s power, reduced recoil impulse (20-25 percent less than the .357 Magnum) and recoil reducing rubber grips makes this an powerfully friendly and very affordable revolver to shoot. The Charter Arms Patriot will safely chamber and fire the .32 H & R Magnum round as well as others in the .32 center fire family.

Built on Charter Arm’s robust and popular .44 Special Bulldog frame the Patriot’s 8-groove barrel (unique to Charter Arms) makes for accurate target shooting and improved pressure holding lower resistance bullet deforming velocities over conventional 4- and 6-groove barrels. The all steel 2.2-inch Patriot weighs in at just 22.5-ounces while the 4-inch model comes in at 25-ounces. Light weight, powerful, lower recoil, affordable price; the Charter Arms 2.2 Patriot fills the bill.

Price 2.2-inch model (P/N 73270) $425.00 MSRP; 4-inch model (P/N 73274) with adjustable sights is also only $425.00 MSRP.

But Wait! It gets better! While the supply lasts, the first 2000 Charter Arms Patriots are also sold (no extra cost) with a matching, clip mount Kershaw Scallion 21/4 inch 420 HC stainless-steel blade, grey anodized aluminum handle folding knife with Charter .327 engraved into the handle. Price of a like Kershaw knife is $49.95.

Both revolvers, like all other Charter Arms manufactured revolvers carry lifetime warrantees. Visit Charter Arms at <a
