SIG SAUER engineers have redesigned the frame and mainspring housing to create a proprietary rounded backstrap, giving the Fastback a distinctive look and advantage for concealed carry.

Available in a full-length 5” barreled version and a 4” carry model, the Fastback’s smooth grip lines won’t protrude against cover garments or push into the ribs when carried concealed.

The all-stainless-steel Fastback frame has been re-engineered from the ground up to reduce its grip signature, while still maintaining the same feel and control of the original 1911 platform.

Initial offerings include the 1911 Fastback Nightmare, using natural stainless controls, grip screws and barrel bushing against the deep black of the durable Nitron finish. The look is finished off with Hogue double diamond black G-10 grips and low-profile SIGLITE Night Sights.

Unchanged 1911 features include the match-grade sear, barrel and trigger components for which SIG SAUER 1911s are known. A skeletonized hammer and trigger with an overtravel adjustment screw are also left in natural stainless.

The Fastback Rosewood comes with a natural stainless slide, and a Nitron finished stainless steel frame, Hogue Rosewood double diamond grips and SIGLITE Night Sights.

Safariland.com

JACKSONVILLE, Florida --(Ammoland.com)- Safariland, a BAE Systems business, announced today the release of the Bianchi Allusion series of concealment holsters.

These models combine the best of existing leather and synthetic holster technologies into a holster that offers both traditional good looks and long-lasting high-performance.

The Bianchi Allusion series consists of three initial models: the Model 125 Consent, Model 130 Classified, and the Model 135 Suppression. All are formed with premium high-grade, full-grain leather, which is wrapped and laminated around a thermal-molded synthetic core. This synthetic liner promotes a very quick draw and effortless reholstering. Further, it resists wear during daily use. Each holster also houses a triggerguard detent for enhanced weapon retention, a feature that is not typically found on traditional leather holsters.

“With the Allusion series, we have combined tradition and technology for the 21st century,” said James Dawson, Safariland Category Director for the Bianchi brand. “We’ve successfully integrated Bianchi’s ingenuity in handcrafted leather design with the technological advances that Safariland has made with synthetic materials.”

The Bianchi Model 125 Consent is an open-top holster with multi-carry capabilities. Dual snap belt loops offer a high-ride hip carry, and an extra set of belt loops allows the holster to be worn inside the waistband for more discreet carry. The triggerguard detent design helps to ensure secure carry during normal activity.

The Model 130 Classified features thumb break retention for those looking for an additional security measure in addition to the trigger guard detent. To maintain optimal flexibility in the thumb break, the strap is suede-lined, while the synthetic liner encompasses the rest of the holster.

The 135 Suppression features an inside-the-waistband design that is all about concealibility and comfort. Concealibility is obtained by the holster sitting low enough that the thickest part of the weapon lies directly underneath the belt, helping to obscure its shape. Meanwhile, two shirt-tuckable C-clips grasp the belt and, taking as little real estate as possible, give the appearance of an empty belt. The gun cant is optimized to put the grip into the kidney area of the back, minimizing any visible printing. Comfort is enhanced with a body-facing holster liner composed of soft foam covered with an anti-microbial mesh coating to reduce bacteria growth and odor.

All Allusion holsters are designed to fit 1.5 inch belt widths. Available in full-grain leather, plain finish, tan or black.

Model MSRP

Allusion 125 Consent $64.00

Allusion 130 Classified $68.00

Allusion 135 Suppression $74.00

For more information about Bianchi holsters or other products, visit www.safariland.com/dutygear or www.bianchi-intl.com.

About Safariland
AmmoLand Gun News

Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)- When Obama talked “hope and change” on the campaign trail in 2008, he was believable enough to get elected, even though a large part of the change he promised would knowingly lead to a burgeoning government.

How else could he spread the wealth around and “fundamentally transform America”?

Well do we remember his 2008 campaign rhetoric:

Generations from now we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs for the jobless. This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.

Here we are, three years later, and Obamacare threatens to uproot and destroy our entire healthcare system, unemployment is at 8.6%, and Obama’s job performance has been so poor that he’s admitted “I don’t control the weather.”

Therefore, in the end, Obama’s promise of hope and change was a nonstarter, yet he has succeeded in fundamentally changing America and as a result citizens are unsettled. Obama has given us big government on an unprecedented scale and Gallup has given us a poll showing that everyone —Democrats and Republicans alike— are tired of the big government philosophy, of the big government approach to life’s problems. Throw in Obama’s support of #OccupyWallStreet, his elevation of Union thugs like Richard Trumka and Jimmy Hoffa on the national stage, his non-stop class warfare rhetoric, and the more than 1,000 weapons still loose on the streets following Fast and Furious, and it is little wonder the American people feel as unsafe physically as they do unsure financially.

And throughout this process, hope turned to disarray and people have realized that their safety is in their own hands (literally). In other words, the 2nd Amendment has begun to mean something to people who heretofore never gave it a passing thought. Thus private gun sales are through the roof. For example, on black Friday of this year, the FBI reported a 32% increase in gun sales over the previous one-day record. This means that in a 24 hour period, the FBI was asked to do 129,166 background checks for gun purchases around the country. (Ironically, the previous record was 97,848 on black Friday in 2008: just weeks after Obama [Gun Salesman of the Year Winner] had been elected and people were already scared of the disorder his policies might portend.)

At gun stores the country, a large part of the increase in sales is the result of handgun purchases for females. Store owners say they are seeing women coming in with their husbands to buy concealed carry handguns to keep in their purses or on their persons. Guns like the Smith & Wesson BODYGUARD .38 Special and Sig Sauer’s P238 .380 are flying off the shelves.

One thing’s for sure: Obama never intended to do this. Nevertheless, the policies and tactics he’s put in place have pushed the American people right back where the Founding Fathers wanted us to be in the first place.

In <del
datetime="2011-12-16T23:19:35+00:00">government</del> er..ah Smith & Wesson we trust.

Ammoland.com)- Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is proud to announce the new Ruger LCR-22, an eight-shot revolver that offers all the features of the award-winning LCR, chambered in the popular and economical .22 Long Rifle cartridge.

“The LCR has proven its worth since its introduction in 2009, and has become an extremely popular compact revolver for concealed carry,” said Chris Killoy, Ruger Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

“Our customers asked for a rimfire LCR for low cost practice at the range, and the LCR-22 fills that need. Furthermore, this gun disputes the notion that small-frame, rimfire revolvers come with heavy trigger pulls; the LCR-22′s non-stacking trigger pull is highly manageable.

In fact, we believe the LCR has the best trigger pull of any factory double-action revolver on the market, and we urge our customers to visit their retailer and try it out for themselves,” he concluded.

The newest LCR maintains all the features of the critically acclaimed original LCR. The 1-7/8″ barrel and eight-shot cylinder are constructed of stainless steel, and the cylinder is highly fluted to reduce weight. The frame is machined from an aerospace-grade aluminum forging, and the fire control housing is molded from rugged and durable glass-filled nylon. The fire control system utilizes Ruger’s patented friction reducing cam that provides a uniquely smooth, non-stacking trigger pull.

Virginia Citizens Defense League

Covington VA --(Ammoland.com)- This past week a Spotsylvania County, VA CHP holder fatally shot himself in the hip in front of his four children.

This tragic accident was entirely preventable. Investigators report that it appears the man had placed the gun in the waistband of his pants and accidentally pulled the trigger while trying to adjust his seat-belt.

In light of this, let’s all take a few moments to reflect on safe ways to carry a firearm. There are a few simple things we can do to enhance safety. Holsters should be used and all equipment should be regularly inspected for signs of wear. In addition, not all holsters are created equal and some are safer than others.

Here are a few key features to look for:

The mouth of the holster should be reinforced so that it stays open when the gun is not in the holster. This allows for one-handed holstering and prevents pointed a loaded gun at your hand.

The holster should hold the gun securely and should be used as intended; you would not want your gun to fall out while you are going about your daily activities.

Use a holster that is made for the gun you are carrying. This will insure that the gun fits properly, helping to prevent accidental discharge while holstering. It will also help prevent accidental loss of the firearm during activities.

Make sure the holster stays firmly attached when you draw your firearm. If the holster stays on your gun instead of on your belt it could cost you your life! If using a belt clip type holster, make sure the clip has a turned-under piece at the bottom that makes a positive attachment to your belt or waistband.

If you carry your gun in your pocket, use a pocket holster. Do not put anything else in the pocket! You would not want your keys to accidentally trigger a discharge. Nor would you want any obstructions to lodge in the barrel or the action, causing malfunction and possible injury.

If you carry in a purse, use a specially made holster-purse or attach a holster to the inside of your purse. Make sure it doesn’t move around and, again, don’t put anything in the compartment with the gun. Personally, I dislike carrying in a purse because they get stolen too easily, but sometimes it is unavoidable.

Inspect the holster for signs of wear. Folds in worn leather can accidentally depress the trigger when holstering.

While it is true that good holsters can be expensive, there are some reasonably priced models out there as well.

What is comfortable is a personal choice, as is whether you carry inside the waist (IWB), strong side, cross draw, shoulder holster, pocket holster, ankle holster and so on. The important thing is to be safe, and these simple guidelines should help us do just that.

Resources: Kahr Arms

PEARL RIVER, NY --(Ammoland.com)- Kahr Arms is pleased to introduce the latest addition to their new CM series of Kahr pistols – the CM40. This new model will start shipping to wholesalers and dealers in 2012.

The CM Series, which debuted in spring 2011 with the CM9, takes the value priced features from Kahr’s CW series (3.6″ barrel 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP models) and incorporates these features into a smaller 3″ barrel package. The CM4043 has the same external dimensions as the PM4043, which make it ideal for concealed carry by licensed civilians and law enforcement personnel.

The CM4043 is chambered in a .40 S&W caliber, has a 3.0″ barrel and an overall length of 5.47″, with a height of 4.0″. The pistol weighs in at 15.8 ounces plus 1.9 ounces for the stainless steel magazine. Differences between the CM models and PM models include: the CM4043 has a conventional rifled barrel instead of the match grade polygonal barrel on Kahr’s PM series; the CM slide stop lever is MIM (metal-injection-molded) instead of machined; the CM series slide has fewer machining operations and uses simple engraved markings instead of roll marking; and finally, the CM series are shipped with one magazine instead of two magazines.

The CM40 boasts real sights, which are drift adjustable in the rear and a pinned-in polymer front sight featuring a white bar-dot configuration. Finally, the slide does lock back after firing the last round – another feature missing on a number of other value priced compact semi-auto pistols.

The CM40 slide is machined from solid 416 stainless steel with a matte finish and is only .94 inch wide. Each gun is shipped with one 5 rd stainless steel magazine with a flush floorplate. Magazines are made in the USA, plasma welded, tumbled to remove burrs and feature Wolff Gunsprings. The magazine catch in the polymer frame is all metal and will not wear out on the stainless steel magazine after many uses.

Just like the CM9, the new CM40 will include all of the great features that make Kahr pistols one of a kind.

Kahr’s seven patents result in benefits not available in other compact semi-autos on the market today:

The black polymer frame features patented 4140 steel inserts molded into the frame in the front and back for added rigidity and strength, which can withstand firing thousands of rounds.

Kahr’s incomparable cocking cam trigger system employs a patented cam to both unlock the firing pin block (passive safety), and complete cocking and releasing of the firing pin. The system provides a “safe-cam action” and unbelievably smooth double action only trigger stroke, fast to fire in critical defensive situations. Many lower cost compact semi-autos on the market today do not have firing pin blocks in their design.

Kahr’s two patents covering the offset recoil lug and the trigger bar attachment allow Kahr’s barrel to fit lower in the frame, and since there is no hammer, the shooter’s hand is further up the grip resulting in less felt recoil and quick follow-up shots.

Kahr offers the CM series at a great value price, but did not compromise on the features, accuracy or reliability found in all Kahr pistols. MSRP for the Kahr CM40 is $517.00

Visit Ammoland.com)- Heizer Defense LLC, a firearms company producing a new paradigm of pistols for the responsible-citizen and law enforcement markets is proud to introduce their first model for the concealed carry market; the DoubleTap.Heizer DoubleTap

The DoubleTap is a tactical pocket pistol, loaded with 5 patents pending, built on a titanium or aluminum frame; the slimmest and lightest on the market today at only .665 inches wide and 14 ounces.

Available in a show-stopping .45 ACP or the more popular 9MM, this no-snag, hammerless designed pistol is completely designed, engineered and manufactured to the highest degree of precision and tolerances in an aerospace facility using aerospace technology and equipment.

The DoubleTap carries two rounds in the chamber and the integral grips house two additional spare rounds. The break-action features a patent-pending progressive barrel porting option that cuts muzzle rise and recoil. The ambidextrous thumb latch releases the action and automatically ejects the spent rounds.

Unlike any firearm, the DoubleTap features a truly revolutionary double-action trigger system that utilizes ball bearings for a smooth action and crisp trigger pull. The DoubleTap is available in a titanium or aluminum frame and is finished with a MIL-STD finish, the same used on military aircraft, for corrosion and wear resistant finish. Production guns will be available in the first quarter of 2012.

For more information visit www.heizerdefense.com and visit Heizer on Facebook.

About Heizer Defense:
Montana Shooting Sports Association

Missoula, MT --(Ammoland.com)- For those interested in personal privacy, there was a law passed in the last session that makes your residence address your default address for your Montana Drivers License.

However, this is not the ONLY address you may use on your DL under the new law.

For privacy reasons, many people like their primary address to be a Post Office Box. In some places, there is no residential mail delivery and the only choice is a P.O. Box.

Under the new law, you must provide your residence address when you apply for your DL, BUT YOU MAY HAVE YOUR P.O. BOX LISTED AS THE ADDRESS ON THE FACE OF YOUR DL.

You’ll probably have to insist with the DL clerk. That clerk will seriously WANT to put your residence address on the face of your DL. However, the law clearly allows you to choose to have your P.O. Box as the address on the face of your DL.

The same is true for your CWP. When you submit an application for a CWP, the Sheriffs Office will probably require you to provide your residence address, but if you wish and ask (even insist), the SO should be willing to put your P.O. Box on the face of your CWP, instead of your residence address.

(Note also, you must provide your SSN to apply for a Montana CWP, but the Sheriff should NOT put your SSN on your CWP ID card – your SSN should NOT be in your wallet. You may have to insist with the SO about this too.)

Why does all this matter? Well, suppose you are a single woman. If you lose your purse, the purse finder knows where to find you if your residence address is in your purse, perhaps with your house keys. Others may just wish to fly as low as possible on the radar screens.

There is a small problem with having only your P.O. address on your DL and CWP – buying firearms from a federally-licensed dealer (FFL). Congress allowed the BATFE to require you to provide an “address” on the BATFE Form 4473 when buying from an FFL. The BATFE has illegally expanded on the grant of congressional authority by telling FFLs that they may not sell a firearm to a buyer unless the buyer provides his or her RESIDENCE address on the 4473 AND that resident address is also verified by the buyer’s government-issued ID.

The BATFE wants to know where to send a SWAT team at 3AM when you’re sleeping to collect the gun you purchased, if they should choose to do so.

There are workarounds for this problem. You may still buy any legal-to-own firearms from private individuals with no paperwork, at least until the anti-gunners persuade Congress to “close the gun show loophole,” a euphemism for making it illegal to transfer a firearm without creating a federal government computer record of the seller and buyer for EVERY transfer.

So, if you have a P.O. Box on your DL and CWP, you can still buy firearms from private (non-FFL) sellers without paperwork and questions about your residence address. Many of the sellers at gun shows do not have FFLs. If you are visiting a gun show and looking for a particular firearm, it’s perfectly okay to ask the seller of that firearm if he has an FFL, and choose to buy from somebody else if you wish.

Here’s another workaround. Take a copy of your utility bill to a sporting goods store and buy a Montana Conservation License (the precursor to hunting and fishing licenses), using your utility bill to verify your residence address, and put your residence address on the Conservation License. Then, use your Conservation License (government issued) to verify your residence address for a firearm purchase from an FFL. This is not a complete solution because you’ll still have to enter your residence address on the 4473, and because all these forms of ID are connected in the data banks of the Montana Fusion Center (a joint state/federal data mining operation at the Montana Department of Justice), but at least it does allow you to buy firearms from an FFL if you have your P.O. Box as the address on your DL and CWP.

Best wishes,

Gary Marbut, president<br

Approximately 42,000 PPNL variants will be delivered between 2011 and 2013.

This contract marks the first time in 25 years that the Netherland police service has chosen a new sidearm. The P250 was selected over offerings from Walther, Heckler & Koch, and Beretta.

“After two years of exhaustive testing, we are gratified to see the P250 selected as the weapon of choice,” said Managing Director, Dr. Andreas Wende, SIG SAUER GmbH.

“We appreciate the Ministry taking the time for a complete and intensive testing process in making this decision. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Safariland, a BAE Systems line of business, announced today the introduction of a new Bianchi pocket holster, the Model 152 Pocket Piece, offering a specific firearm fit and a unique “Vertical Assist” finger pad to help facilitate the draw from the pocket.

This full grain leather design is offered for small frame revolvers and semiautomatics.

While the Model 152 Pocket Piece has been designed to individually fit each weapon that it holds, even more critical is the holster’s ability to stay in the pocket when drawn.

Bianchi has taken three distinct steps to achieve this.

The holster is designed “inside out,” with the rough texture of the leather to the exterior, allowing it to grip the interior of the pocket.

Bianchi Leather Pocket Piece Gun Holster

Two “pocket hooks,” one to the front and one to the rear of the holster, attach onto the pocket if canted forward or rearward.

The Pocket Piece is equipped with a “Vertical Assist” pad, or a small push-off point for the thumb. This provides a handy reference point when gripping the gun and is excellent for driving the weapon out of the holster instead of relying on it to come out by simply pulling on the grip.

“Many pocket holsters look and function more like a bucket, with the handgun simply dropped in and not fitting well,” stated James Dawson, Category Director for Duty Gear products. “We took the pocket design for Bianchi one step further, incorporating its reputation for precisely fit holsters into a good looking and extremely functional design.”

The Model 152 has a squared off design to mimic a wallet and is available in reverse-out full grain leather, plain tan. The MSRP is $29.75 and is available today for the S&W J frame revolver and similar, the Ruger LCP and the LCR handguns. Additional fits will be available later this year.

For more information about Bianchi holsters or other products, visit www.safariland.com or www.bianchi-intl.com.

About Safariland
Ammoland.com)- Steyr Arms has announced the introduction of the new C9-A1 pistol, which bridges the gap between a compact carry and full-sized shootability.

With its concealable-length slide and barrel of the S-series Steyr pistol, and the hand-filling frame and high capacity of the M-series, the C9-A1 provides the best of both worlds.

The new C9-A1 is nearly identical in form and function to other handguns in the Steyr line—the M-A1 full-size series with its 17-round magazine and the S-A1 compact series with its 3.6-inch barrel. The new C9-A1 also boasts the newly redesigned Reset Action System trigger mechanism that was introduced in December. Chambered exclusively in 9x19mm, the new C9-A1 is sure to be a big hit with Steyr pistol aficionados as well as those who are looking for a concealment handgun that provides comfortable ergonomics, low bore axis, remarkable safety features, amazing accuracy thanks to a consistently crisp break, and extreme reliability.

The C9-A1’s full-size polymer frame offers unparalleled ergonomics with a high grip and low barrel axis that mitigates muzzle rise as well as creating a perfect grip angle for a very natural point of aim. The drift-adjustable sights are in the traditional three-dot configuration and a Picatinny rail on the frame’s dust cover provides availability for mounting illumination and laser-aiming devices. The integrated trigger safety with the newly redesigned Reset Action System trigger requires positive finger pressure to operate the double-action-only mechanism. This striker-fired pistol also incorporates a keyed safety lock. The barrel is cold-hammer forged with conventional rifling, and the chamber is fully supported.

The suggested retail price of the C9-A1 is $649.

Steyr Arms Pistol Specifications

Model: C9-A1

Purpose: Self-defense

Manufacturer: Steyr Mannlicher GmbH Kleinraming, Austria

Importer: Steyr Arms, Inc.

Operation: Semiautomatic

Caliber: 9x19mm Luger

Slide material: Steel

Magazine type/capacity: Double-stack steel box/17 rounds

Barrel: 3.6-inch cold-hammer-forged

Rifling: Conventional, 6 grooves, RH twist

Sights: Drift-adjustable three-dot configuration

Finish: Mannox

Trigger type: Reset Action System (DAO with integrated safety)

Pull weight: 5 pounds

Frame material: Reinforced polymer

Checkering: Anti-slip stippled texture

Weight, empty: 1.6 pounds

Overall length: 6.7 inches

Height: 5.1 inches

Width: 1.2 inches

Included accessories: Owners manual, lockable box, extra magazine

MSRP: $649

Ammoland.com)- Stoeger Industries is pleased to announce that the Cougar-series of double-action, semi-auto pistols now includes a compact model ideal for concealed carry situations.

Carrying 13 rounds in its double stack magazine, this lightweight Cougar packs a punch and gives you the confidence and fire-power of a full-size handgun.

Cougar pistols feature a rotating barrel that locks with the slide, meaning extra strength, and because it stays on the same plane for each shot, greater accuracy is achieved. The barrels are cold hammer-forged and the bores are hard chrome-lined for exceptional durability, which promotes longer barrel life.

Additional features include rounded-edges for snag-free drawing; ambidextrous safety, and combat-style trigger guard.

The three-dot high visibility sights offer quick and positive target acquisition. External surfaces are protected with the exclusive battle-proven Bruniton non-reflective finish – the same durable finish found on the sidearm used by the U.S. armed forces.

Whether you are going to the range or carrying for personal protection, the Cougar Compact is a perfect choice at an affordable price.

“We’ve incorporated the finest technology and maintained proven semi-auto features, to make the Cougar series extremely reliable pistols,” said Stephen McKelvain, Benelli’s VP of Marketing & Communication.

“Accuracy and reliability recoil make the Cougars the ideal choice for target competition, or home defense at an extremely affordable price.”

About:
FMG Publications

San Diego, Calif. --(Ammoland.com)- The 1911 is one of the most popular pistols in the world.

Over the years it has been produced by dozens of manufacturers, taken on many different looks and been made in several different cartridges, such as the .45 ACP, .38 Super and 10mm.

The Colt New Agent, a brand new design from the storied, iconic firm, is a departure from the single-action 1911 the company has made for 100 years, and it welcomes the New Year on the cover of GUNS Magazine’s January issue on sale now.

One of the biggest changes in Colt’s New Agent is it’s a double-action-only .45.

“Many double-action pistols are double action for the first shot, and then become single actions for subsequent shots,” writes John Taffin. “With the New Agent it is pure double-action-only, meaning every pull of the trigger is the same.”

January GUNS Magazine Reviews Colt’s New Agent .45 DAO

The New Agent also features a trench-style sight that is approximately 1/8″ wide and runs from the back of the slide to the front of the pistol, eliminating snag and making it much more pocket friendly.

According to Taffin, “It may look ‘cute’ but this is a serious pistol for nasty situations— up close situations where sights are really not necessary. At what are normally considered self- defense distances from 15′ to 20′ it is just a matter of drawing with no danger of catching on clothing, point and shoot.”

“There are no external safeties of any kind and the slide locks open when the last shot is fired. The New Agent fed everything flawlessly with never a stutter or hesitation and never a failure to eject fired cases positively,” Taffin records.

GUNS Magazine’s editor Jeff John says, “The New Agent redefines what other pocket pistols in its class can only aspire to be by combining the power of the .45 ACP with a light weight, double-action-only mechanism, and a snag-free draw.”

Also in this issue is January’s gun giveaway featuring a stunning Remington Arms Tactical 870 Pump Shotgun which has been personalized by Nighthawk Customs.

This package is decked out with add-ons including a Pride/Fowler Spec Ops compact Red Dot sight, a SureFire 318LM Weapon Light Fore-end with 100 lumen light and built in pressure switch, ShotLock Solo-Vault, which is a universal shotgun vault made of 14-gauge steel, mounts on a wall or in a vehicle and has a 1000+ combination programmable push-button lock. Finishing up the package are two Katz Knives—a fixed-blade Kagemusha and a Phantom Tactical Folder, making this a GUNS giveaway that you don’t want to miss out on!

January’s giveaway is valued at more than $2,500 and is up for grabs by visiting www.gunsmagazine.com and following the “You Can Win” link. The BODYGUARD 380 has been further enhanced with a smooth trigger pull. class="wp-caption-text">Charter Arms

Dayton, OH - -(AmmoLand.com)- Nowadays with so many sexy new semi-automatics coming out in the market, it is easy to forget so-called old school technology and why it remains efficient and excellent for self-defense in today’s world of nifty new firearms.

Unfortunately so-called old school wheel guns except those in the newer cannon calibers are many times seen as so what guns.

Can this be true? Is a $395 revolver designed for self-defense really worth anything anymore in this day of high-capacity $900 semi-autos with every option and feature you can think of including even a bayonet lug and fancy $600 revolvers that will hold a ton of ammo?

We think yes.
First, it really is better to NOT to even have to point a gun at a potential or actual attacker or worse yet to have to shoot one. The real mission is to get out of that mess unharmed and obviously alive. While it makes for interesting macho conversation to talk about filling a drug filled attacker with lead or blowing their head off with bird shot (if their head is a watermelon), the reality is that getting away from a bad situation alive and unharmed is the best option. If that means having to run from an attacker who is armed with a knife while you have a revolver in your hand and the result is you get away without having to shoot him, that’s still the best deal.

However, if the situation has progressed to the last resort where the time for deadly force self-defense shooting and stopping the attacker (never with the goal of “killing them”) is all you may have left, and then you had better have a reliable firearm in a sufficient caliber to stop the attack with you when you need it most.

Charter Arms Undercover Lite Black Revolver

The Advantages of Revolvers for Self Defense
As a deterrent, revolvers are easily recognized as a firearm, even in reduced light, especially if manufactured in a visible finish. Revolvers are quickly recognized as guns even by dumb bad guys. The revolver communicates that this is a real gun and not something else like a can of soda, etc. This recognition may save you from having to fire to convince him further.

No normal person wants to shoot someone. Many folks forget that even if everything goes their way in a shooting, there are legal costs, potential lawsuits, and the long-term mental stress and strain of having shot someone. And if the DA feels it was not necessary, or there are other elements in the case he thinks he can prove against you then the problems will get worse.

Bottom line the mere sight of a recognizable real-looking and loaded firearm will stop many an attacker in their tracks!

Here are some points to consider:

There is little doubt a revolver is loaded and many times the threat/attacker will see it’s loaded by simply looking at the cylinder and seeing the ammunition in it. Many people paint a light coating of liquid paper or white paint on the bullet tips to make them more visible for deterrent value.

Revolvers are quick and easy to operate. Simply draw, aim and fire. No switches or tricky functioning, stoppages or other malfunctions; they will work when they are most needed!

Any trainer will tell you that revolvers require less training than semi-autos to fire competently and safely thus making them the best firearm for the average citizen for self-defense purposes.

Revolvers are very fast to get into action, incredibly reliable and nearly foolproof.

Some people feel revolver trigger pulls, especially in double-action mode are heavy (you read about it in every gun test magazine article and blog). But in life and death adrenalin-filled situations the pull of a revolver trigger is not even noticed by the shooter, nor the sound or recoil. Light triggers are one reason why accidental semi-auto discharges are so common especially when people are under stress (contagious fire from police officers is a sad example of this). The double action revolver is actually safer because you do not want to accidentally shoot anyone.

Revolvers are generally much more affordably priced than most semi-automatic pistols.

Today’s revolver ammunition is much more effective than that of just 20 years ago. Charter Arms revolvers offer powerful loadings in compact and lightweight revolvers that include: 32 H&R Magnum, .38 Special +P, .327 Federal Magnum, .357 Magnum and .44 Special calibers. Typically a 2” barrel will lose only 30-85 fps velocity over a 4-inch barrel, so snub barrels are not a significant velocity disadvantage but do present a definite easy carry and quick to action advantage. Few bad guys will complain that the bullets you hit them with were not going fast enough.

Ammunition mix can be significant. A revolver can digest and fire any ammunition chambered for that particular firearm. This can be any type of bullet design or ammunition mix you may wish to carry, such as perhaps the first two shots being frangible high-expansion ammunition followed by heavier hollow-point or even solid loads. Revolvers are not sensitive to the bullet design or velocity (low recoil loads may not function some semi-autos) and when it comes to defending one’s life, this choice of load option is a very real advantage.

While high-capacity autos are popular, well known shooters like Jeff Cooper and Mass Ayoob and many other professional shooters have argued for years (and we paraphrase) it’s accuracy that counts, not all of those high-capacity magazine, liability loaded, people-and- property damaging misses. Bottom line is that you will be held legally responsible for every shot you fire; hits and misses.

Charter Arms’ compact, lightweight revolvers offer tremendous power-to-size ratios and, due to grip and overall design, they are very easy to draw, point and control. Many short-grip and compact autos (especially small autos in effective stopping calibers) can, due to size and especially ergonomic configuration, be very difficult to draw, grasp and control in a real world reactive life or death adrenaline-packed encounter where survival depends on draw speed, correct grip (purchase) and operational control.

We may tend to forget that at the firing range without a real death threat we generally take the extra time to acquire a proper and firm grip with a compact effective-caliber semi-auto. But, in a panic packed confrontation we don’t have that luxury and it consistently shows up in high-stress tactical training and of course in real life and death encounters. For this reason the lightweight compact revolver is well-suited for the average citizen who wants effective protection and professionals in need of a solid, effective primary and totally reliable back-up firearm in a fight stopping caliber.

Many licensed concealed-carry permit holders may start with good intentions to carry, but the enthusiasm wanes quickly if their firearm is wrong for them: Too wide of a cylinder or too thick of a slide, too heavy, too big, too long or uncomfortable and many will eventually stop carrying their firearm.

Charter Arms’ revolvers boast the lightest weights and most-compact revolver designs.

Shooters at any level do NOT buy a short-barreled compact revolver to take to the range and plink, hunt or shoot targets with. Yet people will talk and blog endlessly about so-called “excessive recoil,” short barrel sight radiuses, etc. as though target shooting, plinking and hunting are why the person initially bought the compact firearm in the first place. Their technically irrelevant remarks relate to snub nose revolvers with the same credibility as comparing a Ferrari to a dump truck. While each vehicle has an engine, doors and tires but they sure are not the same and to compare these two vehicles against each other is like comparing compact revolvers to larger firearms is just chatter.

Also revolvers are built to fire many thousands of rounds of ammunition over a lifetime. Very few people will ever put more than 1,000 rounds (twenty 50-round boxes) through their handgun. So talking as if they will become the person’s next lifetime 10,000-round shooter is interesting, but not realistic.

Accuracy testing: Many talk of testing handgun accuracy at 25 and even 50-yards. Actually, testing short-barreled revolvers at ranges over 10 yards is sort of like testing an over-the-counter hunting rifle at the 1,000-yard line at Camp Perry. Ninety percent of big-game kills are made at ranges under 200-yards which is why most writers (who know their audience and their readers’ abilities) test rifles at 100-200 yards—it’s a realistic distance.

Yet, some of the very same people (and bloggers for sure) talk of testing short barrel self-defense handguns at 25 yards (a recognized NRA competition distance) when the intended and real use is at encounter ranges typically (according to FBI data, too) under 5 yards. We have tested 2-inch barreled Charters at 50 yards (hand held off a rest) and the rounds will stay in a 6 inch circle and they will stay in a chest size target at 200 yards, yes 200 yards—but is that realistic?

Let’s Get Real:
The reality is that the bad guy wants you and/or your money. To get to you and/or your money he needs to get much closer. When inserting bullet holes into an attacker at long range, the shooter had better be able to prove that that the attacker was able, capable (had the weapon reach), the willingness and, demonstrated through his actions, was actively trying to cause and could cause great bodily harm at that longer distance. Generally, if not, the defender will get to see first hand how our criminal and civil court cases work concerning their long range shooting skills.

Then again allowing anyone you feel is a serious threat to get you to get within a car length is very dangerous for you unless you have already drawn the firearm. It has been demonstrated many times in real life and in training that from 20 feet, a guy with a knife will can easily close that distance and cut you to ribbons before you can draw your firearm, let alone fire it effectively to stop him in time. This is one reason why in a bad situation your first goal if at all possible is to get something between you. IE: car, desk, trash can, fence, gate, tree, or a great distance!

Muzzle Flash:
Many feel muzzle flash is a disadvantage. On the battlefield it is because it gives away one’s position and makes the shooter and his unit vulnerable to lethal counter-fire (many times from superior weapons and multiple-attackers). Reduced muzzle flash may be an advantage to hunters since the flash from a high-powered rifle might spook an animal before the bullet or the sound arrives, but muzzle flash has little or no effect on the shooter, even when (if) seen through a scope sight, even for follow up shots.

Handgun muzzle flash (regardless of type of handgun) can actually work to your advantage. If you are under assault it is pretty obvious the attacker knows where you are; well no duh! If you must fire to protect your life, muzzle flash giving away your position is hardly a concern.

When a handgun is fired at an attacker close in (especially at night or in reduced light conditions) the attacker facing the muzzle gets all of the flash, every glorious bright bit of it. This can cause some temporary blinding (flash-bulb effect) as well as a tremendous psychological effect even if not struck by the bullet. In addition, if the attacker is very close and if the defender misses (it happens much more than you might think at ranges under 10 feet with any gun—just watch the cop shows where both cops and bad guys spray bullets all over) the attacker gets massive noise, flash, heat, and certainly some hot powder particles all of which may diminish the attack somewhat and that may be all the time you need for follow up shots.

However, the defending shooter will only see some flash over the top of the revolver, not the whole ball of bright light the attacker gets. Another advantage in dark or low light conditions is the flash silhouettes the defender’s sights. This can help the defender adjust quickly for a second shot (experienced and practiced shooters can routinely take advantage of this, even in total darkness). This brief instant of flash can be even be utilized by less-experienced shooters also; they just need to be made aware of it and how it can help them.

We feel (regardless of firearm) that a bright muzzle flash is an advantage in nearly all self-defense situations that goes to the defender and is a distinct disadvantage to the attacker—and for what it is worth, shorter barrels deliver more flash.

Getterdun
The key to compact, lightweight self-defense revolver design-and an advantage over compact semi-autos-is that Charter Arms revolvers are comfortable to carry and will be with you if needed. Think about this: Regardless of size, cost, and bells and whistles, if you get lost in the woods the best knife in the world is the knife you have with you when you need it. The same applies to conceal-carry self-defense handguns. If you have a big moocho macho super auto., fat high capacity or fancy revolver and it’s too big, heavy or uncomfortable to carry you may not have it with you if you need it.

The handgun (semi-auto or revolver) must fit. Revolvers can be quickly drawn with a nearly perfect properly registered grip. Most trainers instruct their students to draw fast then hit the brakes, aim quickly and shoot effectively.

We hope you can see that the short-barreled self-defense revolver shines even in these days of what’s the latest. When it comes to close-in self-defense, Charter Arms manufactures the lightest, most-compact, most-reliable, safest, and most effective-reactive self-defense revolvers in the industry. Charter Arms’ revolvers do the job they were designed to do and that’s all you can ask from any firearm.

Anatomy of a Charter Arms Revolver

Specific Notes On Charter Arms Revolvers:

Don’t Confuse Affordable With Cheap: Charter revolvers are the most affordable high-quality handguns in the market. Period! If you want to pay more, then just offer your retailer an extra $100, he will appreciate the generosity.

Lightweight: The ultra-light aluminum frame models are made from tough 7075 aircraft aluminum alloy. They are the lightest in the industry.

Compact: They are, for their calibers, the most compact (easy to carry) revolvers in the market.

Machining: Charter Arms revolvers are 100-percent U.S.A. made and are fully warranted—forever! That’s right. Forever! This unique warranty follows the gun not just the first buyer.

Hammer Travel/Lock Time: Fastest in the industry for a factory production revolver.

Fewer Parts: Through advanced engineering they have fewer parts (less opportunity for failure).

Safest Hammer Block System In The Industry: It’s true. Did you know that Charter Arms invented the hammer block system (and concept) you see on all new firearms? Charter freely gave this valuable technology to the industry (even Charter’s direct competitors) to keep all shooters safer with this new invention regardless of brand or design.

Solid Side Plate: Actually no (screw-on) side plate at all. The result is a much stronger overall frame (less flex), and it is made possible in part to number 6 above.

Three Point (not two) Cylinder Lock Up results in superior strength and improved accuracy.

The Crane (also called the yoke) is held in place by the frame: Other revolvers use 100-year old technology to hold the yoke in place with a small screw that by itself must resist recoil momentum. While it works the side screw can loosen or fail. On Charter revolvers the yoke is retained in the frame itself resulting in significantly more strength and some accuracy advantage.

Eight Groove Button Rifled Barrel: Only Charter has it. The result is better gas sealing which results in higher-velocities. Unlike the deeper and more abrasive lands and grooves in other brands which can distort the bullet some. The result is Charters’ accuracy is better, too.

Manufacturing/Engineering Quality: Highest in the industry. If you want it pretty, shiny, or modified somehow Charter can do that-too, it just costs more and does not make it shoot one bit better. But for a highly affordable, user friendly and effective working self-defense firearm that a person will carry and not be afraid to knock around, Charter Arms makes the best.

About Pretty and Shiny: The U.S. Army Rangers have a saying: “Train like you fight, fight like you train.” It means just that too. Under life-and-death pressure you will act and handle your firearms just as you do in practice or in everyday life. It’s a psychological fact, if you baby your expensive, shiny, pretty gun in practice you will baby it when you need it.

Charter Arms revolvers are made to be used and used hard. This means you can toss one in your tackle box, pack, under your car floor mat, or wherever (as long as it is legal), so it is there to protect your life when you need it.

If you want a high-quality, reliable, affordable and good looking working gun that comes with a lifetime warranty and a gun you will not be afraid to have with you when you need it, well, that’s what Charter Arms makes.

Charter Arms firearms may be seen at Stoeger

ACCOKEEK, MD –-(AmmoLand.com)- Stoeger Industries is pleased to announce that the Cougar-series of double-action, semi-auto pistols now includes the .45 ACP caliber.

A new feature, available only on the .45 ACP model, is an integrated accessory-rail positioned under the barrel for convenient placement of tactical lights and lasers.

The .45 ACP is arguably the most respected pistol cartridge ever designed with more than a century of outstanding results in major conflicts and law enforcement to underline its superb and proven performance.

Additional features include rounded-edges for snag-free drawing; removable front-sight, ambidextrous safety, and combat-style trigger guard. External surfaces are protected with the exclusive Bruniton® non-reflective finish. The Cougar .45 comes equipped with two 8-round magazines.

“Incorporating the finest technology and maintaining proven semi-auto features, the Cougar is a light, compact and reliable pistol,” said Stephen McKelvain, Vice President of Marketing & Communications. “Accuracy, reliability and manageable recoil makes the Cougar a perfect choice for home defense, or range shooting available at a great price.”

For the latest news and product information visit www.benelliusa.com
Tags: Arizona Citizens Defense League

Arizona --(AmmoLand.com)-Attempts were made this year to either make the CCW permit optional (ala Alaska) or reduce the penalty for lawabiding citizens (only!) carrying concealed without a permit. Both bills survived and thrived during most of the legislative session but got trampled in the stampede at the end.

It started with SB 1270, the AzCDLrequested Constitutional Carry bill that removed the penalty for the lawful carrying of a concealed weapon without a permit. SB 1270 passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, but stalled in the Senate Rules Committee because of an amendment, added in the Senate Judiciary Committee, dealing with smuggling firearms across the border.

As an alternative, AzCDL was able to get another bill, HB 2439, amended to include the “Petty Offense” language that passed the Legislature in the last two sessions, by wide margins, but was vetoed by former Governor Janet Napolitano. The Petty Offense language, less controversial than Constitutional Carry, reduced the penalty for carrying concealed without a permit from a misdemeanor to a petty offense for those not committing serious or violent crimes.

HB 2439 started out as an AzCDLrequested CCW training reform bill. It was amended to include Petty Offense and Defensive Display language and sailed through the Senate by a vote of 18-5 around 2 AM on the last day of the Legislative session (July 1st). Since it had already been through the House, all it needed was concurrence and House Final Read votes and it would be sent to the Governor.

AzCDL’s representatives worked at the Capitol, conferring with legislators all night long, and we were confident we had the votes needed for HB 2439 to pass.

Unfortunately, around 5 AM, when HB 2439 was voted on in the House Final Read, it failed by one vote (the vote was 30-10, it needed 31 votes) because 20 (Yes, twenty!) members had left before the final batch of bills, including HB 2439, was voted on. Five of those who were not present for the vote were Republicans who had indicated to us that they would vote for HB 2439. If they had been present and voted, HB 2439 would have easily passed.

The Republicans missing during the final vote were Nancy Barto (R-7), Rich Crandall (R-19), Adam Driggs (R-11), Bill Konopnicki (R-5), Lucy Mason (R- 1), and Doug Quelland (R-10).
Tags: ICarry.org

Rockford, IL --(AmmoLand.com)-That’s our new slogan at ICarry.org – and we aim to be the #1 right-to-carry resource for our two beloved holdout states.

If you don’t already know, I live in Illinois. I’ve been staying active for over 4 years to try to get the right to carry. It’s been a long, tough battle. I’ve even gotten doubtful at times myself, as I see many gun owners in Illinois and Wisconsin are.

I wanted to take a second to assure you that we will get concealed carry. I have a feeling it won’t be very long either. I’m thinking at least one state if not both will get it next year. Pretty bold statement, right? I try not to blow smoke up skirts, and it’s only been recently that I realized we were so close.

Open Carry events in Wisconsin are becoming more and more frequent and successful The US Supreme Court has affirmed our right to own and use pistols for self-defense. This ruling mentions open carry and very strongly supports it. The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear the Chicago gun ban case and rule on it next year in a landmark case that will analyze whether or not, or to what extent, states may regulate the right to keep and bear arms!

Organizations like the Illinois Sheriff’s Association, Illinois Farm Bureau, and others are coming out supporting a concealed carry law. County advisory resolutions have swept the State of Illinois urging them to pass a concealed carry law. Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn recently signed HB182 and HB3714 to protect law-abiding gun owners from wrongful prosecution and the IL Supreme Court just ruled that you can carry an unloaded gun – even with loaded magazines – in the console and presumably other compartments of your car without having to use a second case! I could keep going, but it’s not necessary. More info is on our site.

The point I am making is the time has come for the right-to-carry in Illinois and Wisconsin. Watch as more and more politicians begin supporting it. Smart politicians will see their constituents pushing hard for it. Smart politicians will see the trend of everything moving towards more freedom to own and carry guns.

Women, minorities, and police are pushing for it. People with disabilities who tend to be prime targets of violent crime are pushing for it. We are all equal and we are all pushing for it.

ICarry.org will be starting aggressive ad campaigns to make right-to-carry the top issue for this election and keep it the top issue until it is done. We wish to educate the public before AND after major victories for right-to-carry are won. We will bring many new people into awareness of this issue. This will allow concealed carry to be as effective as possible as a crime deterrent after it is passed.

I’d like to thank our friends at OpenCarry.org for helping to encourage the open carry of firearms up in Wisconsin. This is one of the most effective ways to effect change and educate the public at the same time! Keep up the great work open carriers – we’ll see you at events.

So next time you hear yourself start to say “It’ll never happen…” Please stop and pull your foot out of your mouth because it is happening. If you hear any other gun owners start to talk like that, then tell them to signup at ICarry.org for the free gun so we can take a quick second to educate them too.

Thanks!

Take care,

Shaun A Kranish

ICarry.org Founder

ICarry.org, 1817 18th Avenue, Rockford, IL 61104, USA<br

It is obvious that this policy is designed to encourage timely renewals of the CPL.

The relevant statute does mention holding onto your receipt along with the expired CPL, but this provision does not apply unless the gun board has failed to meet its 60-day deadline to approve or reject renewals.

Therefore, unless the gun board has failed to meet it’s deadline, it is not lawful to carry a concealed pistol with an expired license whether or not one has a receipt for the new license.

To ensure that one is continuously licensed, one should apply for a renewal no later than 60 days before the expiration of the current license.

MCL 28.425l

(2) The concealed weapon licensing board shall issue or deny issuance of a renewal license within 60 days after the application for renewal is properly submitted. /> (c) The amount paid.<br

This subsection does not apply unless the person pays the renewal fee at the time the renewal application is submitted and the person has submitted a receipt from a police agency that confirms that a background check has been requested by the applicant.

(4) A person carrying a concealed pistol after the expiration date of his or her license pursuant to an extension under subsection (3) shall keep the receipt issued by the county clerk under subsection (2) and his or her expired license in his or her possession at all times that he or she is carrying the pistol. For the purposes of this act, the receipt is considered to be part of the license to carry a concealed pistol until a renewal license is issued or denied. Failing to have the receipt and expired license in possession while carrying a concealed pistol or failing to display the receipt to a peace officer upon request is a violation of this act.

Steve Dulan (www.StevenWDulan.com) is a member of the Board of Directors of the MCRGO and the MCRGO Foundation, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the MCRGO Foundation.
