title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- After 16 consecutive years of domination at the premier 1911 pistol match, the name at the top of the leader board at the close of competition was not Leatham, but instead Sevigny, as Dave Sevigny of Smyrna, Ga. won the 2011 Springfield Armory USPSA Single Stack Nationals.

The 14 stage match saw four lead changes as Ted Puente of Milwaukee, Wis. jumped out in front with a stage one win and held the lead through the next two stages.

While Puente took the early lead, Springfield Armory’s 16-time champion Rob Leatham of Mesa, Ariz. sat comfortably in second, falling briefly to third after stage three.

On the fourth stage of the match the lead changed as Shannon Smith of Tampa, Fla. moved to the front after winning the stage. Leatham moved back up into second as Puente fell to fourth.

After starting the match in sixth place, Sevigny moved to third place with four stages completed.

The top three of Smith, Leatham and Sevigny would hold until stage nine at which point Leatham took the lead as Smith fell to third. Sevigny, who won the stage, moved into second and just 5.8083 points behind the leader.

With just five stages left and a total of 525 match points available, it looked as if Leatham had put himself in position to win yet another Single Stack title. However, Sevigny had other plans.

With a strong second place finish on stage 10, Sevigny picked up 16+ points on Leatham, who finished 13th on the same stage, and gave the match its fourth and final lead change. Sevigny finished the match with a final score of 977.8292 points to win the 2011 title.

Leatham, who finished second, briefly narrowed the deficit on stage 11 to come within 2.5326 points of the new leader but could not advance further, ultimately falling 17.2707 points behind with a final score 960.5585 and his very first taste of defeat at the championship.

“It is indeed a new day in the world of Single Stack competition. Dave’s win marks the end of an era, but his victory should come as no surprise as Dave has been in contention before and it was only a matter of time before the name Sevigny topped the Single Stack Nationals final standings,” said Michael Voigt, USPSA president.

While the Leatham-Sevigny battle unfolded over the final stages of the match, so too did the race for the remaining top five positions.

Smith, who fell to third, was able to hold that position through the next stage, stage 10. But on stage 11 he dropped to fifth as StrikeForce Manufacturing’s Todd Jarrett of Hopewell, Va. took third and Nils Jonasson, the reigning USPSA Limited division national champion from Mesa, Ariz., moved into fourth.

On stage 12 the top five saw another shake up as the early leader, Puente, moved up to fourth, pushing Jonasson to fifth. The two then swapped positions on stage 13.

On the final stage of the match, Jonasson surged to third place to finish with 934.9123, more than 25 points out of first. Jarrett fell from third to finish in fourth place with 931.4245, repeating his 2010 and 2009 finishes.

Fifth place went to Team Smith & Wesson’s Phil Strader of Owasso, Okla. Strader made an earlier appearance in the match’s top five through the first two stages of the match but hovered for most of the competition around ninth place. Starting with a stage win on the tenth stage, Strader climbed his way up the ranks to finish with a final score of 918.42.88.

Puente finished sixth with 916.8913. Smith took seventh with 898.1105. Manny Bragg of Kirksville, Mo. finished eighth with 893.0135. Taran Butler of Simi Valley, Calif. placed ninth with 885.0973 and Eric Fuson of Tulsa, Okla. finished tenth with 857.2331.

Also claiming titles at this year’s championship were Sara Dunivin of Phoenix, Ariz. who won the Women’s title with 683.7541 points. The Junior title went to Austin Cisna of Metamora, Ill. who finished with 610.3718. Among the seniors, Jon Huspek of St. Paul, Minn. took the Senior title with 735.9336 while Robert Keller of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla claimed the Super Senior title with 577.6446.

The Springfield Armory USPSA Single Stack Nationals were held this past weekend in Barry, Ill. with over 350 top shooters from around the country competing in the event.

The Single Stack Nationals was established in 1994 as the Single Stack Classic by pistolsmith Richard Heinie, and then USPSA Illinois Section Coordinator, Russell Cluver. The match was designed specifically for the 1911 model pistol and no other pistol design has been permitted in the competition.

In 2006, USPSA designated the popular match as a national championship. The name Single Stack refers specifically to magazine used in the 1911 pistol which holds just a single column of ammunition. The 1911 is one of the most popular firearms sold in America and the Single Stack National Championship is the preeminent showcase for the venerable 1911.

Want to learn more about practical shooting, or join the 20,000 members of USPSA in the most dynamic and fast-paced shooting sport around? Sevingy began the match trailing Team Rudy Project’s Blake Miguez of New Iberia, La. after Miguez won the first stage.

Concentrating on shooting his match, Sevigny began his move on the fifth stage picking up the first of five stage wins. He then picked up his second win on the sixth stage to close the gap with Miguez to just over seven points.

Stage seven in the match went to Miguez, only marginally increasing his lead over Sevigny who placed third on the same stage.

Then the match turned in Sevigny’s favor as he racked up wins on the next three stages and jumped out to a 23 point lead. With just two stages left, the captain of the Glock shooting team expanded his lead to finish the match in the winner’s circle and 63.1242 points ahead of the runner-up Miguez.

“There is not a more confident shooter in a trailing position that Dave. He’s shown again and again that if you give him the room to make a move, you’re going to see him passing by in the final stages of the match,” said Michael Voigt, president of the U.S. Practical Shooting Association.

Ammoland.com)- For the sixth time in his career Dave Sevigny of the Glock shooting team has won the Production division national title.

The win marks the 10th time that Sevigny has won a USPSA national title.

Competing in a field of 120 top Production division shooters during the 2010 Smith & Wesson USPSA National Handgun Championships, Sevigny had to come from behind to win.

“Unfortunately I started out a little bit flat, and I think everybody at some point got sideways in this match. I’ve been in these situations before where I knew I had to lay the hammer down to go for the win, and I knew that today I had to do that,”

In the third and final day of competition, with more than 40% of the total match points in play, Sevigny made his move by focusing on reading his sights and the fundamentals of shooting on the move.

“Going into the last day I tried to read the sites better. All the penalties I had were a result of not quite seeing what I needed to, so I backed off a little to make sure I was technically correct on both my gun and my feet,” explained Sevigny.

Sevigny began the day with an eighth place finish on stage one, the first stage of the final day, opting for a cautious start due to what he called the “high disaster factor” and not wanting to “get into a wreck.”

Then on the second stage where Sevigny was the first shooter up, he set the pace and began his comeback with his first of four stage wins of the day. After finishing fifth on stage three, he would go on to win stages four, five and six to capture 737 of the 775 available points, giving him a final winning total of 1637.1758.

“I was really pleased with my final day’s performance and of course the win. Every stage here I thought was technical. I won’t call it difficult because we only make it as hard on ourselves as we want and there was no shot here that any of us couldn’t make on demand as long as you take the time to do it,” observed Sevigny.

Finishing second behind Sevigny was Team CZ shooter Matt Mink of Conway, Ark. who finished more than 80 points behind with a final score of 1556.5509.

Team Smith & Wesson picked up third and fourth place finishes with Phil Strader of Owasso, Okla. winning one stage and posting a final score of 1555.2978, while B.J. Norris of Tyler, Texas won three stages and finished with 1553.9521 points.

Rounding out the top five was Rodney May, a Sig Sauer shooting team member from Memphis, Tenn., with one stage win and 1542.8145 match points.

The Smith & Wesson National Handgun Championships were held October 9 through 16 at the Desert Sportsman’s Rifle & Pistol Club in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over 600 shooters put more than 250,000 rounds downrange in a quest for the coveted U.S. Practical Shooting Association national title in the Open, Limited-10, Limited, Production and Revolver divisions.

Ammoland.com)- Team GLOCK completed another successful season by having scored victories in both the men’s and women’s competition at the 2010 USPSA Back To Back Handgun Nationals. Held Oct. 8-16 at the Desert Sportsmen’s Club in Las Vegas, Nev., both the Limited-10 and Production division contests each required more than 350 rigorous rounds and featured 18 demanding courses of fire to complete.

Team GLOCK Captain Dave Sevigny won the Production division for his milestone 10th USPSA National Championship victory and added a 2nd overall finish in the Limited-10 division. While Randi Rogers swept the ladies field by defending her 2009 Limited-10 championship and reclaimed the Ladies Production division championship.

Sevigny and Rogers both used GLOCK 35 pistols in the Limited-10 division and GLOCK 34 pistols in the Production division.

“It is a great day for Team GLOCK,” stated Sevigny. “Winning the USPSA Production Nationals was my main objective at the beginning of the year. It’s really exciting to close out the season with my 10th USPSA National win.”

Both National Championship competitions that Sevigny entered were fiercely contested with dozens of top ranked competitors and manufacturers vying for the title. According to USPSA, it is “extremely rare,” for a competitor to reach the elusive 10 National championship mark.

“After training hard all year I was looking forward to competing in the 2010 Back to Back Nationals,” stated Rogers. “The matches were very challenging this year, offering a full range of skill tests; however, my training paid off and I was able to complete my goal of becoming the Back to Back National Champion.”

Rogers now owns four Ladies USPSA National championships, two each in Limited-10 and Production, and has won the past three contests she entered. In 2010, Rogers reached Master-class rating in Production and has proved she will be a contender for a long time to come.

“The Team GLOCK Shooting Squad truly demonstrated their talents at the National Championships,” said Gary Fletcher, GLOCK’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Dave and Randi continue to showcase their individual excellence, as well as the reliability and versatility of the GLOCK pistol in every competition they compete. All of us at GLOCK, Inc., congratulate Team GLOCK for another superior performance.”

Ammoland.com)- Team GLOCK displayed their champion mentality as they competed in the 2010 Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships held Aug. 19-22, in Piru, Calif. Team GLOCK Captain Dave Sevigny posted the fastest iron sight time, along with the best three division aggregate scores.

Team GLOCK member Randi Rogers finished high among the women’s field of competitors. Both Sevigny and Rogers used GLOCK 17 pistols by S&J Customs for Open Centerfire division, while Sevigny used a GLOCK 17L for Limited division and Rogers used a GLOCK 34 in Production division.

Sevigny is the first person to win overall Steel Master and Limited divisions at National and World level Steel Challenge championships the same year.

Sevigny, earning a second place overall finish at the Open Centerfire match, finished at the top of nearly all the stages including an “Outer Limits” stage win.

“I trained hard in the past six weeks for this tournament,” said Sevigny. “No titles are ever on ice for anyone in this group of guys. You have to grind every step of the way.”

Rogers continued her successful season by finishing second Lady Steel Master; sixth place overall in Production division and Lady Open Centerfire with a high score.

“The Steel Challenge is by far the most difficult match I have ever shot,” said Rogers. “I was pleased with my performances and I look forward to continue growing and learning so that I can win this title in the future.”

“Our shooting team continues to showcase their talents and demonstrate the diversity of the GLOCK pistols,” said Vice President of Sales and Marketing Gary Fletcher.

“Dave and Randi continue to place at or near the top of the standings in every competition they compete in. All of us at GLOCK, Inc., once again congratulate Team GLOCK for another superior performance.”

As the team prepares for the final stretch of the 2010 season, their next competition event will be the USPSA Area 8 Championship in Fredericksburg, Va., held Aug. 26-29.
Tags: Ammoland.com)- When asked during Wednesday’s practice session at the World Speed Shooting Championships if he would win this year’s Steel Challenge, K.C. Eusebio’s reply was a playful but cocky “what do you think?”

Whether it was cockiness or confidence, come Saturday Eusebio put his money where his mouth was and proved for the third time in his career that he is the fastest shooter in the world by upsetting the defending champion Max Michel of Team Sig Sauer who had not lost a match all season, and holding off a strong challenge from Team Glock’s Dave Sevigny.

Though Eusebio won just one stage during the match, posting a new world record on Speed Option, he shot a consistently fast pace throughout all eight stages that put him in a position to win.

Ryan Leonard of Oregon City, Ore. finished tenth overall to win the Junior World Speed Shooting title

With three stages left to shoot, and sitting in second place, Eusebio made his move and overtook Sevigny. He then expanded his advantage setting up a final stage scenario where the only way Eusebio was going to be beat was if he fell apart.

That did not happen as Eusebio shot the second fastest time on the final stage of the match to end with a winning time of 80.27 seconds.

Sevigny, who shot a custom built open Glock 17, posted his best Steel Challenge finish taking second in a time of 82.84 and proving along the way that the Glock platform can contend in a match dominated by the 1911. Earlier in the match Sevigny won the the Limited division title and placed second in the Open Rimfire division which, with his Open division finish, won him the 2010 Steel Master title.

Finishing third in the Open division was Team Smith & Wesson’s Jerry Miculek who again faced off against a field of semi-auto pistols with his Smith & Wesson open sight revolver and still managed to post a time of 83.88.

Both Sevigny and Miculek took top honors on one stage each with Sevigny topping the field on Outer Limits and Miculek on Showdown.

Taking fourth was the 2004 World Speed Shooting Champion Tatsuya Sakai of Japan who shot a time of 85.35.

Finishing fifth was defending champ Michel whose time of 85.88 put him 5.61 seconds out of first. The three time World Speed Shooting Champion fell behind after suffering a 14.50 time on the stage Pendulum where he holds the current world record of 10.07 seconds.

Elsewhere in the Open division contest Ryan Leonard of Oregon City, Ore. finished tenth overall to win the Junior World Speed Shooting title with a time of 92.39.

Jessie Abbate won the Women’s World Speed Shooting title, and the Women’s Steel Master title, for the second year in a row.

The Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships were held August 19-21 in Piru, Calif. class="wp-caption-text">Glock Pistols

SMYRNA, Ga. --(AmmoLand.com)- Team GLOCK’s championship season showed no signs of slowing down at the 2010 USSA Pro-Am Championship held July 17-18, in Tulsa, Okla.

Held at the world-class United States Shooting Academy, Team GLOCK Captain Dave Sevigny won both the Professional class Limited and Open divisions, while teammate Randi Rogers made a strong showing in her first Pro-Am appearances in the Amateur class.

Both Sevigny and Rogers used GLOCK 34 in Limited (iron sight) and S&J Custom GLOCK 17 pistols in the Open divisions. Pro-Am competition features set “par-time” courses of fire with falling and reactive steel targets. The prestigious tournament continues to rise in popularity as evidenced by the more than 300 competitors and top ranked professionals that participated this year. For the third straight year, GLOCK Inc. sponsored the Pro-Am.

In all previous Pro-Am championships, the winning margin was separated by one point among the Professionals. This year Sevigny took charge with a 231 winning score in the Limited division with a decisive 11 point margin over second place finisher Bob Vogel, who also shot a GLOCK. In the Open division Sevigny scored a 223, leading to a 4 point margin of victory over Max Michel.

Sevigny is the only Professional class competitor to finish in the top three in the last three Pro-Am events.

Sevigny said, “As always, there was deep competition here in Tulsa. This is a very exciting event for those of us who are competing, as well as for the spectators. I was relieved to secure the wins here after being edged by one the past two seasons.”

Making her Pro-Am debut, Rogers had a strong finish in the Amateur class with a 180 score in Limited division to earn 2nd Lady/3rd overall and 3rd lady/23rd overall in Open with a 156 score. The Master class Rogers scored very well in the Amateur Limited ranks, defeating all three competitors listed as “Grand Master,” the top class in shooting sports.

“The Pro Am is a unique shooting competition that tests each shooters speed and accuracy,” said Rogers.

“Each stage has a limited par time and the shooter must hit as many targets as possible. I was very pleased with my performance at my first Pro Am and I look forward to attending next year.”

Team GLOCK looks to continue their winning ways on July 30-31, at the Steel Challenge Colorado State Championship in Eaton, Colo.
Tags: <a

Included in our list of sponsors for this year’s championship are some of the top leaders in the shooting industry and we wish to again publicly thank them all. In addition to the many various sponsor-donated prizes such as, by not limited to, optical sights, reloading equipment, cleaning equipment, gun cases, mounts, bullets, slides, eye and ear protective devices and steel targets, this year’s Shooters Raffle included 22 firearms along with five other firearm awards for a merchandise prize value that totaled more than $35.000.00. In addition, performance awards, based on order-of-finish, included more than $5700.00 in cash. From its first match many years ago, to quote John Perciballi, Director of Match Development, “Thanks to our generous firearms sponsors, a World Class Steel match has always been a match that ‘gives away guns, lots and lots of guns!’” This year’s extensive array of firearms were donated by STI International, Glock, Springfield Armory, FNH USA, Mossberg, Limcat Custom, Smith & Wesson and Beretta USA. class="wp-caption-text">U.S. Practical Shooting Association

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. --(Ammoland.com)- Dave Sevigny, captain of the Glock shooting team, successfully defended his Production division title at the U.S. Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) Canyon Creek Area 5 Regional Handgun Championship this past weekend.

The Smyrna, Ga., resident won eight of 12 stages and led the field of 69 top shooters from start to finish as he posted a final winning score of 1428.9511 and outpaced runner-up Ben Stoeger of Eau Claire, Wis., by more than 75 points.

Earlier this year, Sevigny won the USPSA Area 6 Production title.

“Dave is one of the most consistently strong shooters in Practical Shooting. Not only did he win eight stages, but he also posted one second, two third and one fourth place stage finish in a field with two other Grand Masters and four Masters,” said Michael Voigt, president of USPSA.

Both Sevigny and Stoeger are Grand Masters, the highest skill level in the sport.

Stoeger, who won only one stage, took second place for the second year in a row with his score of 1353.0701. Third place went to another Grand Master, Team CZ’s Matt Mink of Conway, Ark., who won three stages and posted a final score of 1254.7090.

Master shooter and Team STI member Tony Hawkins of Westfield, Ill., and Matt Hopkins of Kansas City, Mo., rounded out the top five finishing fourth and fifth with 1138.2893 and 1116.1714 respectively.

Additional Production titles were awarded to Carrie Carlson of St. Peters, Mo., who won all but two stages as she captured the Lady’s title. Finishing 13th overall, Craig Tappe of Colo, Iowa, won the Junior Production title while Jack Calcut of Morrisville, N.C., took the Senior Production title while finishing 14th overall.

Hosted by the Tri County Gun Club in Polo, Ill., and sponsored by Canyon Creek, the Area 5 match grew 22.5% over the previous year with a total of 337 top shooters from around the country, as well as Canada, competing for a title in one of six divisions.

Area 5 is one of the eight USPSA shooting regions in the country and is made up of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

The sport of Practical Shooting was formally established in 1976 but traces its roots back to the 1950’s and the quick draw “leather slap” competitions that grew out of America’s love affair with the TV westerns of that era. Today the sport represents the upper echelon of the shooting sports with many of its top shooters actively training law enforcement and military units on shooting techniques and equipment developed in competition.
Tags: <a

SMYRNA, Ga. --(Ammoland.com)- Team GLOCK had a strong showing at the World Class Steel-Northeast Regional Championship in Old Bridge, NJ, held June 4-6.
Team GLOCK Captain Dave Sevigny won the high overall championship in the Open division and finished 2nd overall in the Iron division. Teammate Randi Rogers finished 4th overall in the Iron division and 10th overall in the Open division. Both Sevigny and Rogers used a GLOCK 34 for Iron division and a GLOCK 17 by S&J Customs in the Open division.
Competitors from all parts of the country, including several top ranked Steel Challenge champions, accounted for the 200- plus entries. The annual Steel Challenge sanctioned tournament featured seven courses of fire and 175 minimum rounds of ammunition. GLOCK has been a sponsor for the World Class Steel tournament for several years; however, this was Team GLOCK’s first appearance at the event.
In the Open match, Dave Sevigny secured the win by shooting a fast time of 2.15 seconds and posting average scores of 2.33 seconds during the final stage of the day. Named the “Zig-Zag,” this stage hosts an array of staggered 12” steel plates at distances of 18 to 60 feet.
Sevigny said, “It is extremely satisfying to win another Open championship. With only 1.09 seconds separated first through third place, it proves that the margin of victory is not forgiving and that the competition is always tough at this level.”
Along with her top placement in both matches, Randi Rogers shot an Iron division overall stage win on the stage named “Five to Go.”
Rogers added, “The World Class Steel in Old Bridge was an excellent Steel Challenge match. It was challenging to shoot at Bianchi and then switch gears to shoot Steel Challenge less than a week later. I am pleased with my performance and look forward to competing in more Steel Challenge matches later this season.”
“It is always a significant victory when Team GLOCK wins an Open division Steel Challenge tournament,” said Gary Fletcher, GLOCK, Inc. VP. “GLOCK has proven to be a diverse platform in both the iron sight and open steel shooting disciplines in recent weeks. This reinforces how Team GLOCK’s top level performance at a variety of competitions in recent years has proven the reliability and accuracy of our products.”
Team GLOCK will next compete when Dave Sevigny enters the USPSA Area 5 Championship beginning on June 10 in Polo, IL. Randi Rogers competes at the IDPA Carolina Cup beginning on June 17 in Oxford, NC.Tags: Competitive Shooting News, Dave Sevigny, Glock Pistols, IDPA, Randi Rogers, Shooting Teams, Team Glock, USPSA, Winners, World Class Steel

SMYRNA, Ga --(Ammoland.com)- Team GLOCK members Dave Sevigny and Randi Rogers both competed and won individual awards at the 2010 NRA Bianchi Cup Action Pistol Championship held May 26-29, in Hallsville, Mo.
Competitors from numerous countries, including Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Netherlands, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and the United States participated to claim the prestigious annual tournament championship, which featured four courses of fire and required 192 rounds.
Sevigny and Rogers both shot GLOCK 34 pistols in 9×19 in the Production division.
In front of a large crowd, Sevigny, the 2009 Bianchi Production Champion, again won the Production Speed Event and finished third overall in the Production division main match with a score of 1833-119x.
“Action Pistol is unique for us. Unlike the other shooting sports in which we compete, the generous time allowances for each string of fire create an equalizer – meaning there is an even greater focus on accuracy. While Randi and I made improvements from last season’s match, we still have more work to do. The competitors who regularly compete in Action Pistol, Bullseye and PPC events are a great challenge for me,” said Sevigny.
Team GLOCK Captain Dave Sevigny
Rogers finished in 1st place in the Sharpshooter class and in 8th place overall in the Production division with a score of 1790-99x. She shot an exceptional Plate stage by hitting 47 of 48 plates and placed second overall.
“The Bianchi Cup is the most difficult match I have ever shot. With very accuracy intensive stages, there is no room for error. I trained hard for the event knowing that I would be facing talented competitors, so I am very pleased to have placed in the top eight overall in Production,” said Rogers.
GLOCK Vice President Gary Fletcher added, “GLOCK, Inc. is proud to help sponsor both the NRA and its competitive shooting events. GLOCK pistols are made to be safe to use, simple to operate and fast to shoot. These qualities give both our team shooters and competitors all around the world the confidence to shoot GLOCKs in competition.”
The Production Division at the event was sponsored by GLOCK. Team GLOCK will next compete at the World Class Steel tournament on June 4-5 in Old Bridge, NJ.Tags: Bianchi Cup, Competitive Shooting News, Dave Sevigny, NRA, Randi Rogers, Shooting News, Shooting Teams, Team Glock, Winners

Recognized as the most winning competitor in USPSA Production, Sevigny won five of the eleven courses of fire and placed in the top three eight times to score 1148 match points.

“This match, like so many others is a marathon not a sprint. It is very important to finish towards the top of the results throughout the day,” said Sevigny.

The tournament was originally slated for twelve courses of fire but later removed stage 4 from the results due to inconsistencies within the course.

“I had very strong performances on most of the stages including (stage) #4 on Friday but heard it was tossed late on Sunday. It helped some guys out I’m sure and affected the differential but not my standings. It is not common to see a stage removed but is another reason to shoot solid at each stage in these contests,” Sevigny advised.

Master class Production lady Randi Rogers also competed with a GLOCK 34 in 9×19. Rogers finished in 6th place Master class with 857 match points on her way to the Ladies Production championship and Area 6 Ladies Production championship. Rogers, who is a multiple Ladies National champions adds..

“One of my favorites stages was stage 10 “Paul Bunion’s Axe.” It was a 70 point 14 round Comstock stage with all paper targets. There were three potential shooting positions. It was a challenging stage because you could see multiple targets from multiple shooting positions. I shot it in 12.02 seconds with 12 a zone hits for a total of 66 out of 70 points.

It was a pleasure to compete in the 2010 Area 6 as a new member of the area six region. The stages were excellent tests of each competitor’s ability. I was very pleased with my performance and look forward to continuing to improve my placement in the master class in future competitions.”

“GLOCK is honored to support all shooting sports and we appreciate the support of all the competitors who use our product. Congrats to Dave and Randi on another fine performance with their GLOCK 34,” said Josh Dorsey, Vice President at GLOCK, Inc.

Next up for Team GLOCK…Dave Sevigny will attend a GLOCK Day promotion at Black Wing Shooting Center in Delaware, OH April 24- 25. class="wp-caption-text">U.S. Practical Shooting Association

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — -(AmmoLand.com)- It took until the eleventh and final stage at the 2009 Area 2 USPSA Regional Handgun Championships before Dave Sevigny of Smyrna, Ga. was able to overtake Nils Jonasson of Mesa, Ariz. and repeat as the Production division champion. It is the fifth time Sevigny has won at Area 2 Production title.

Jonasson started the match strong winning the first three stages followed by a third place finish on stage four, behind Sevigny and the stage winner Gary Chan of Anaheim Hills, Calif., then again taking the stage win on the fifth stage. Halfway through the match, Jonasson, a Grand Master shooter who won the Production title in 2007, found himself in first place with a lead of more than 34 points over the defending champion.

Then on the sixth stage Sevigny, who is the captain of Team Glock and himself a Grand Master competitor, began his comeback winning that stage and the next four. Despite remaining behind Jonasson, who managed to keep the lead by finishing second on stages six, seven, eight and ten, Sevigny put himself just over five points down but in a prime position to win the match on the final stage.

On stage 11, the 50-point 10-round final stage of the match, Jonasson finished with seven A zone hits and three C zone hits for a total of 44 points shot in a time of 6.99 seconds giving him a 6.2947 hit factor and a final stage score of 39.8894. He finished the match with a final overall score of 1424.6612.

Sevigny, who is known for both his tremendous speed and accuracy, proceeded to attack the final stage posting the fastest time of any production shooter, 5.83 seconds, and scoring 46 points on eight A zone hits and two C zone hits for a hit factor of 7.8902 that won him both the stage and the match. Sevigny finished the match with a final score of 1429.3106 and a narrow 4.6494 advantage of Jonasson to take the win.

“This was classic production division battle and demonstrates how competitive this division truly is,” said Dave Thomas, executive director of the U.S. Practical Shooting Association. “Dave shot an excellent come-from-behind match winning not just the Area 2 Championship but his seventh Area title of the 2009 season.”

Rounding out the top five in the Production competition were three Master level shooters. Gary Chan finished third with 1268.6316 points while Kyle Schmidt of Gilbert, Ariz. took fourth shooting 1239.7421 and Jim Levis of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. finished fifth with 1196.4295 points.

The match, which was held November 12-15 at the Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club in Mesa, Ariz., drew a total of 355 shooters who put a combined 100,000-plus rounds down range competing for regional championship titles in the Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production, Revolver and Single Stack divisions.

The USPSA Area 2 region includes Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii and New Mexico but shooters from throughout the country attended.

About USPSA:
U.S. Practical Shooting Association

WICHITA FALLS, Texas —-(AmmoLand.com)- With just two USPSA Area championships left in the season it looked as if Glock’s Dave Sevigny was on track to sweep all eight Production division titles. Then Matt Mink of Team CZ got in the way.

Mink captured the 2009 Infinity USPSA Area 4 Production division title this past weekend at the Double Tap Ranch in Wichita Falls, Texas by posting a final score of 1426.3885 and edging out Sevigny by nearly 11 points.

Sevigny was clearly on a roll entering the match having already won the Area 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 titles and was by all accounts the odds on favorite as he won four of the first five stages.

But it was on the stage called Red Cell Fever where the match turned in Mink’s favor.

Mink won the stage pocketing all 150 match points while Sevigny finished an uncharacteristic 11th with one miss and one no shoot giving up nearly 30 points and the lead. Mink then picked up another 13 points on the next stage, closing the door on Sevigny who posted two more misses and a procedural.

Sevigny finished the match in second place with 1415.4791 points.

“You can count on two hands, probably just one, the number of shooters that can beat Dave Sevigny, and that includes internationally,” explained Michael Voigt, the USPSA president and himself a top-ranked shooter. “Matt Mink is one of those elite few and his win this weekend in Texas proves that no shooter can claim ownership of the Production division.”

Rounding out the top five were Kale Garretson in third with 1335.4841 points, Team Smith & Wesson member Gordon Carrell in fourth with 1301.2126 and Yong Lee in fifth with 1298.1705.

The match, which was sponsored by Texas-based firearms maker Infinity Firearms, drew more than 235 top shooters from around the country competing for the Production, Open, Limited, Limited-10, Single Stack and Revolver division regional titles.

Area 4 is one of the eight USPSA shooting regions in the country and is made up of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

About USPSA:
Glock Pistols

Smyrna, GA - -(AmmoLand.com)- The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) Nationals were held at the United States Shooting Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma from September 23-26, 2009. Team GLOCK Shooting Squad Captain Dave Sevigny won his 8th IDPA National Championship in the Stock Service Pistol (SSP) division along with the High Gun Industry category while teammate Randi Rogers won her 3rd title in the High Lady category.

The IDPA Nationals was host to more than 350 competitors during the four day annual defensive pistol shooting tournament. Participants fired a minimum of 241 rounds through seventeen courses of fire which featured moving targets, a shoot house, low-light scenarios requiring use of a hand held flashlight, shooting from cover and prone positions including from in and around motor vehicles, with target distances ranging from three to ninety feet.

Team GLOCK Captain Dave Sevigny dominated the competition with an overall best time of 222.56 seconds and won fourteen stages in the Stock division with a GLOCK 34 in 9×19. Stock division runner-up Gordon Carrell and 3rd place finisher Phil Strader, scored 260.46 seconds and 264.01 seconds respectively with S&W-M&P pistols. Sevigny has now won the prestigious IDPA National championship eight times in ten appearances and finished in the top three overall in each contest; the only competitor to accomplish such a feat. “After beginning in the GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation I joined IDPA so there’s some tradition here. It was a good competition and I was happy to compete at the IDPA Nationals once again,” said Sevigny.

Randi Rogers of Team GLOCK won the High Lady title in 7th place Stock/Master class with a final score of 309.42 seconds with a GLOCK 34 in 9×19. “The IDPA Nationals was a pleasant end to the 2009 shooting season. I look forward to take what I have learned throughout the season, perfect my craft during the off season and come back even stronger next year,” said Rogers. ”A favorite stage of mine was Stage 8 named “El-Prez At The Movies.” This was a 12- round, three target, Limited Vickers stage. The course of fire required a start with only six rounds in the pistol, then to draw and engage each target twice, complete a mandatory reload and re-engage each target twice with no make up shots. I shot the stage in 9.40 seconds with two points down for a total time of 10.40 seconds. This time placed me 5th out of 31 Master-class Stock division competitors on this stage,” added Rogers. Twenty-eight women, roughly 8% of the field of competitors, were entered in the ladies category in 2009. Three-time Ladies IDPA National champion Julie Goloski-Golob finished in 14th place Stock/Master class and was the High Lady runner-up at 327.78 seconds with an S&W M&P.`

Another notable finish came from Enhanced Service Pistol division champion and High Law Enforcement winner, Robert G. Vogel, who used a GLOCK 34 in 9×19 with a score of 230.47 seconds to capture his 3rd IDPA National championship.

“Congratulations to Dave and Randi at the IDPA National Championships,” said Craig Dutton, Assistant National Sales Manager at GLOCK, Inc. “The employees at GLOCK, Inc. are proud of the accomplishments that the entire squad has earned this year.”

About GLOCK, Inc:<br

Earlier in the Production division championship it was Vogel who came out on top.

“The battle between Dave and Bob is one of the hottest match-ups in the sport right now. Each has tremendous natural ability and immense skill, and either can win but this time it was Dave whose determination won out,” explained Michael Voigt, USPSA president.

Vogel, a fulltime police officer from Wapakoneta, Ohio, finished with a final score of 1396.6533 for second place. In third was Springfield Armory’s Robbie Leatham of Mesa, Ariz. shooting 1305.1814.

Rounding out the top five were Max Michel of Covington, La. in fourth with 1280.6242 and Team Smith & Wesson’s BJ Norris of Tyler, Texas with 1277.3862 in fifth.

The Nationals which were held at the Desert Sportsman’s Rifle & Pistol Club outside Las Vegas September 11-19 drew more than 620 top shooters from across the country and around the world.

About USPSA:
Glock Pistols

Smyrna, GA --(AmmoLand.com)- Team GLOCK won three titles at the USPSA Area 8 championship August 27-30 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The tournament featured eleven courses of fire requiring a minimum of 257 rounds. Nearly 300 competitors participated in the annual event.

In the Production division, Team GLOCK used GLOCK 34 pistols chambered in 9×19. Captain Dave Sevigny won nine of the eleven courses of fire for another decisive high overall finish by scoring 1248 match points. 2009 marks the 6th time Sevigny has won the Area 8 championship.

“They always put on a good tournament and our team was happy to be there. I feel ready for the Nationals and Jessie and Randi are shooting better than ever. They will be tough,” Sevigny said.

Four women entered the 64 competitor Production field at Area 8. Randi Rogers won the High Lady category with a 14th place overall finish while scoring 890 match points. “Lorton” was her favorite stage from the match. It was a 30 round 150 point stage with 15 IPSC Targets. The design was a hallway with ports cut in each side where the shooter had to travel down the hallway finding and shooting the targets as they became visible. This was a great stage for a Production shooter because it offered a great layout to plan your reloads and make the most of moving and reloading. Overall she was 15th on the stage with 75% of the stage winner’s score.

“Area 8 was a great experience for me as I train to compete at the USPSA Nationals this year. I learned several things at this match and I plan to continue perfecting my skills as I head to Las Vegas, NV for nationals in two weeks,” said Rogers.

Another notable finish with a GLOCK 34 in the Production division came from Area 8 resident Tori Nonaka of Virginia. The 14 yearold junior competitor was High “C-class” and Junior, 2nd place Lady and 21st place overall with 829 match points.

In the 94 competitor Limited division field, seven women shot for the title. Still hot off her Steel Challenge world titles, Jessie Abbate won the High Lady category with a 6th place overall and 2nd place in the Master class. Jessie won all eleven stages in the ladies category and was in the Top 10 overall in six of the eleven stages. Jessie’s 997 match points at 80.55% is one of the best high lady finishes considering several Master and Grandmasters were entered.

“Team GLOCK made a clean sweep across the board and I’m proud of my teammates. We have all trained hard and this is a great start in preparing for the USPSA Nationals,” said Abbate. “The stages were quite deceiving, appearing to be wide open targets, but yet they presented awkward angles, and shooting positions, with targets moved back to further distances. The match turned out to be more of a challenge than I expected, but was definitely prepared and welcomed the challenge!” Jessie used her GLOCK 24 in .40 for her most recent accomplishment.

Team GLOCK will next compete at the USPSA Back to Back Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada September 12-19. Sevigny and Rogers will then head to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the IDPA Nationals September 24. Following the IDPA Nationals, the team will appear at the GSSF GLOCK Annual Shoot XVI in Conyers, Georgia September 26-27.

About GLOCK, Inc:<br

Jessie won all the Lady categories she entered by a decisive margin. Randi has made improvements in the Open division and will only get better as she gains more experience with the Steel Challenge,” said Team GLOCK Captain Dave Sevigny.

In Open division at the Steel Challenge World Championship, Sevigny’s 4th place finish at 86.62 with an overall stage win on “Pendulum” is a personal best.

“I just need to keep working hard at this. The competition at the top level is very deep. I’m close but must improve by three to five seconds to win this in Open Centerfire.” It is noteworthy that the S&J Custom GLOCK 17 built for Sevigny has a 4 lb. trigger and costs about half as much as his competitor’s highly customized single action pistols in the top ten. “The pistol runs and is accurate. I just have to do my part,” added Sevigny.

Team GLOCK will next compete at the USPSA Area 8 Championship in Virginia from August 27-30.

About GLOCK, Inc:
Tactical Solutions Firearms

PIRU, Calif. — -(AmmoLand.com)- Tactical Solutions team member BJ Norris of Tyler, Texas captured the Open Rimfire Pistol title on Thursday at the 2009 Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships in Piru, Calif.

Norris shot the eight stages in a winning time of 69.00. Billy Abbate of McDonough, Ga. took second with a time of 73.76 while the 2008 defending champion Dave Sevigny, who is also sponsored by Tactical Solutions, finished third with a time of 73.92.

With the win Norris has cleared the first hurdle in defending his 2008 Steel Master title which goes to the shooter with the top combined score in the Rimfire, Limited and Open matches.

Despite the win, today’s shooting was not considered the best by Norris or any of the top shooters who referred to today’s shooting as “choppy.”

“Our speed was the same, but the accuracy wasn’t,” explained Sevigny. “I had a slow start with a malfunction and had to eat a four second run on the first stage, Showdown.”

“Roundabout was my worst stage of the day due to a malfunction and otherwise generally poor shooting,” joked Norris. “Outer Limits was a comedy too. On my first run I called my shot on the stop plate but there was no impact mark. It took a moment to register and I finally shot the stop plate. Luckily my other runs were keepers.”

“Calling your shots is real critical here,” Sevigny agreed.

All three shooters will face off again today in the Limited match along with several other top nationally ranked shooters.

It is estimated that more than 65,000 rounds will be put downrange during the Steel Challenge with countless thousands more shot in practice. class="wp-caption-text">Glock Handguns

SMYRNA, Georgia – -(AmmoLand.com)- In the first USPSA Area championship of the season, team captain Dave Sevigny led Team GLOCK to victory at Area 6 by winning the Production division and Area 6 championship. Jessie Abbate won the High Lady Limited division and Area 6 High Lady title, while Randi Rogers won the High Lady Limited-10 title. The tournament was held at the South River Gun Club in Covington, Georgia on April 17-19.

The Production division was hotly contested with twelve Master and Grandmaster level competitors vying for the title in the 56 competitor field. In another dominating performance with a GLOCK 34, Dave Sevigny won nine of the twelve courses of fire and finished more than 239 points ahead of the second place Grandmaster.

Stage 1, Field Of Steel, was considered the most complex course of fire in the tournament and Sevigny earned the #1 position not only in Production division, but over all other divisions. Sevigny ripped through 32 pieces of knock down steel located at distances of ten to thirty yards and covered six positions in only 27.93 seconds. “That went just as I’d planned thankfully. I did all I could to concentrate, be visual and to call each shot,” said Sevigny. The performance is significant because Production requires the competitor to reload the pistol frequently to complete a stage and fewer rounds are available per shooting position. The top Open and Limited division scores were 29.66 seconds and 31.07 seconds. Open and Limited pistols often feature competitive advantages over Production pistols and magazines may hold 2-3 times as many rounds.

Jessie Abbate competed with a GLOCK 24 against a field of ten ladies in the 125 person Limited division field. Abbate shot another consistent match to repeat her High Lady division and Area 6 titles. “I’m happy the USPSA season is underway and look forward to the road to the Nationals,” said Abbate.

Randi Rogers competed with a GLOCK 35 in the 18 person Limited-10 field. Two women, Rogers and Kay Miculek, fought for the Limited-10 title where Rogers emerged as the High Lady. “I was pleased with my shooting at Area 6. This was the first match I have competed in with my G35 and it was a success. The gun ran great the whole match and I was able to finish well in the standings,” said Rogers.

GLOCK Inc., one of the industry leaders in supporting the shooting sports, repeated as match sponsor for the tournament. Cindy Noyes, Area 6 Match Director states, “We have been fortunate to have GLOCK, Inc. as our match sponsor this year and last year. They have been very generous with their match donations. I am continually impressed with the professionalism of the members of Team GLOCK and of course with their shooting abilities. Dave always gives a great performance and I have watched Jessie and Randi come into their own over the last couple of years. We wish to see the team again and for GLOCK, Inc. to return next year as our match sponsor.”

In other notable finishes Todd Kennedy of Georgia won the Limited-10 division using a GLOCK 35 and Mike Hughes of Washington was second in Production using a GLOCK 17.

To see Dave Sevigny in action at the Area 6 Field of Steel II stage, visit the GLOCKIncUSA You Tube account.

<object
