Colorado --(Ammoland.com)- On the evening of Monday, January 30th, in Denver, we have a chance to help get rid of one of the U.S. Senate’s worst Second Amendment votes.

Richard Mourdock is running against Indiana U.S. Senator Dick Lugar, and will be hosting a fundraiser in the Denver-Metro area.

Make no mistake about it; Lugar is THE “Tea Party” target for the 2012 primary season.

The event is being held in Downtown Denver at Maggiano’s restaurant on Monday, Jan. 30th starting at 6:30pm. The campaign is asking $1,500 per couple to attend the event.

And though I realize that’s a lot of money, it’s an EXTREMELY important race.

Here’s why:

“Republican” Senator Dick Lugar was in the news in 2011 when he called for a reinstatement of the Assault Weapons ban.

What you might not know is that this isn’t Senator Lugar’s only foray into gun control.

In fact, if there were a U.S. Senator who rivaled Democrats in calls for new gun controls, it would be Dick Lugar.

Paul Helmke, former President of the Brady Campaign, said “Sen. Lugar is one of my heroes.”

Part of that might stem from the fact that Lugar’s Press Secretary, Mark Helmke, is Paul Helmke’s brother, giving the Brady Campaign unparalleled access.

I’ve debated Paul Helmke on national TV several times. I can tell you, with certainty, that this man HATES freedom — and would love to make every firearm in America illegal.

Paul Helmke himself is a long-time Indiana political gadfly of the worst type. His alliance with the gun control elite is well-documented, as is his admiration for Dick Lugar.

The other reason the gun-banning Brady crowd loves Senator Lugar is that he has voted with them more than any Republican Senator in Senate history.

For that reason, New York’s billionaire mayor (who also leads Mayors Against Guns), Michael Bloomberg recently held a fundraiser in New York city for Dick Lugar.

The connections are just too great to ignore.

Senator Dick Lugar MUST be defeated in the Indiana primary. It has national implications, which should make any concerned gun owner in America get involved in this race.

And there are many reasons and issues to want to retire Dick Lugar from the US Senate. His disdain for the “tea party” movement (i.e. moving our government toward a more Constitutional approach and encouraging fiscal accountability from Washington) is epic.

The federal PAC I run, the National Association for Gun Rights PAC, has endorsed Richard Mourdock and maxed out to his campaign.

But we need your help as well.

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)-  With the South Carolina, Florida and Nevada Presidential nominating contests soon upon us, I wanted to give you a quick update on the NAGR Presidential Survey program.

As you know, NAGR has mailed every candidate for President an official NAGR Gun Rights Survey.

Ron Paul is the only remaining Republican candidate who has returned his survey 100% in favor of gun rights.

Over the last few weeks and months, I’ve asked you to call the campaigns of Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry to demand that each candidate return their gun rights survey 100% in favor of the Second Amendment.

Believe me, your calls worked. Representatives from each of those campaigns called NAGR offices, demanded we instruct our members and supporters to stop calling and to send them a survey.

Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry were hurt severely in Iowa because they stonewalled gun owners by refusing to return their surveys, and I think the longer that Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney ignore gun owners, the more it will hurt them as well.

Each candidate has the NAGR Presidential Survey in hand. However, we didn’t stop the calls, and we won’t. Each of the remaining candidates needs to know that gun owners have a powerful voice and we will assume that silence is a sign that they are hiding an anti-gun position.

I have serious concerns about Romney, Santorum, Gingrich and Perry. It’s their records that worry me.

Let me take a minute or two right now to remind you about the positions of the four Presidential candidates who have so far refused to return their National Association for Gun Rights Presidential Survey.

Mitt Romney:
So far Mitt Romney has refused to respond to his NAGR gun rights survey, perhaps because when Mitt Romney was Governor of ultra-liberal Massachusetts he signed a bill to ban an entire class of firearms.

Would he do the same thing – or even worse – as President of the United States? His record indicates that he would.

Mitt Romney supports the Brady Registration Act, mandatory 5-day waiting periods, mandatory firearms ID cards, the Federal Feinstein Gun Ban (so-called “assault weapons ban”) and he signed the Massachusetts Semi-Auto Ban in 2004.

He even went as far as to say that he supported Massachusetts’ tough anti-gun laws: “We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts; I support them… I won’t chip away at them; I believe they protect us and provide for our safety.”

And to throw fuel on top of Mitt Romney’s anti-gun fire, he received the endorsement of John McCain this week, who himself has recorded promotional commercials for anti-gun groups hell-bent on restricting our Second Amendment rights.

Rick Santorum:
If you’ve watched any of the Presidential debates, you’ve noticed that Rick Santorum claims time and again to be a “fighter” who has “led on conservative issues.”

Rick Santorum’s record on the Second Amendment, however, tells a different story.

In the 90s, he voted to support the Lautenberg Gun Ban, which stripped law-abiding gun owners of their Second Amendment rights for life, simply because they spanked their children or did nothing more than grab a spouses wrist.

He voted for a bill in 1999 disguised as an attempt to increase penalties on drug traffickers with guns… but it also included a provision to require federal background checks at gun shows.

In 2000, Santorum voted to force pawn shops to require a background check on anyone coming into the store to sell a firearm.

And then he voted with gun-controlling Democrats Dianne Fienstein and Frank Lautenberg to mandate locks on handguns in 2005.

But worst of all, Rick Santorum has a storied history of bailing out anti-gun Republicans facing reelection.

Rick Santorum came to anti-gun Arlen Specter’s defense in 2004 when he was down in the polls against pro-gun Republican Pat Toomey. Specter won and continued to push for gun control during his years in the Senate.

He also supported and openly campaigned for anti-gun New Jersey governor, Christine Todd Whitman.

It certainly appears that Rick Santorum has no regrets about his past anti-gun record. Worse, it appears he’d be happy to continue along this path as President.

Newt Gingrich:
For those who have followed Newt Gingrich’s career, the revelation that he talks out of both sides of his mouth won’t be a surprise.

Despite claiming to be pro-gun, Newt Gingrich’s reign as Speaker was downright hostile to our Second Amendment rights.

Newt supports the Brady National Gun Registry, a national biometric thumbprint database for gun purchasers, the Lautenberg Gun Ban and the “Criminal Safezones Act.”

Newt doesn’t think the Brady Instant Gun Registry goes far enough — he wants thumbprints:

“I think we prefer to go to instant check on an immediate basis and try to accelerate implementing instant checks so that you could literally check by thumbprint… Instant check is a much better system than the Brady process.” — June 27, 1997

Gingrich may claim to be pro-gun . . .

But his record indicates otherwise, and his refusal to answer his NAGR survey should give any Second Amendment supporter cause for concern.

Rick Perry:
Texas Governor Rick Perry has received an earful from NAGR members over the past several months for refusing to return his Candidate Survey.

His strategy seems to be to tell gun owners “trust me” while keeping completely silent on what he would do about our gun rights if elected President.

Over the years, gun owners have learned that this is a failed strategy.

George H.W. Bush ran as a pro-gun candidate for President in 1988, but when elected, things changed.

First, he signed an Executive Order banning the importation of so-called “assault weapons.”

Not only that, but it was under President Bush that “Operation Triggerlock,” which dramatically increased funding and power for the BATFE, was implemented.

Of course, as Governor of Texas, Rick Perry did make some minor improvements in state law for gun owners.

It is, however, one thing to act pro-gun as Governor of a state like Texas and quite another to be a pro-gun President of the United States.

Please keep up the pressure on these four Presidential candidates who continue to stonewall gun owners.

Then they called you a “terrorist” and “out of the mainstream.”

Now they’re calling you racist.

You see, they’re trying to marginalize you . . . they want you to cower and go away.

As the most anti-gun President and Attorney General in our nation’s history, Barack Obama and Eric Holder are doing (and saying) everything in their power to crush any investigation into the ATF’s deadly gun-running scandal, “Fast & Furious.”

When all other insults have seemingly failed to stop an investigation into their actions, President Obama dispatched Eric Holder to the gutters – to participate in the worst kind of politics – to play the “race card.”

Recently, in an effort to deflect attention from “Fast & Furious,” and brand patriots like you as “racist,” Eric Holder said this:

“This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him – both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.”

To be honest with you, this type of insult isn’t anything new to anyone who’s been involved in conservative politics. Personally, I’ve been called everything under the sun (though I can’t repeat most of those words in print).

From my experience, every time the “race card” is played by any politician, that politician is attempting to get you to back off and run for cover — to go away.

It usually works. For more than two decades, I’ve seen activists and politicians run for the hills for fear that their name would be attached to the word “racist.”

But my answer to such a charge is quite simple — don’t back off, and crank up the pressure.

Now is as good a time as any to remind you of the outrageous, and deadly, actions of Eric Holder’s ATF . . .

. . . and ask you to take action.

“Fast & Furious” was a tool used by the ATF to push gun control on the American people.

This is the very scandal that found the ATF using taxpayer funds to walk firearms across the border into the hands of Mexican narco-terrorists.

But dig even deeper, and gun activists will find out this scheme was concocted as a public relations blitz by the Obama Administration to advance their anti-gun agenda with the UN Small Arms Treaty, a renewed so-called “Assault Weapons” ban, and a host of dangerous gun controls.

The “Fast & Furious” program itself was nothing but a manufactured crisis designed to scare Americans into banning firearms.

“Fast & Furious” was also the same program that led to the death of at least three American border patrol agents.

Eric Holder can call gun owners anything he wants, including racists, but I won’t back down. And I don’t want you to either.

The investigation into Holder’s actions would not have been possible without your activism and pressure.

He’s feeling your heat… and reverting to his Alinsky-taught tactics to try and get you to shut up.

I want you to crank up the heat on Congress to renew the push to “Fire Eric Holder.”

With less than one year before the November elections, Barack Obama and Eric Holder are going to do anything they can to appease their big-money gun control backers.

I’m going to do my best to keep you up-to-date on all the latest developments in the “Fast & Furious” scandal.

Please continue to pressure Congress to “Fire Eric Holder.”

In the end, I guess it really comes as no surprise. I’m afraid Newt’s been about as faithful to the Second Amendment as he has been to his three wives.

In fact, Newt Gingrich has had a long love affair with the anti-gun crowd:

• Newt supports the Brady National Gun Registry — He stubbornly continues to support the anti-gun Brady Bill, which created a national gun registry;
• Newt supports a national biometric thumbprint database for gun purchasers — He thinks you should be forced to undergo fingerprinting before you are allowed to purchase a firearm;
• Newt supports the Lautenberg Gun Ban — He voted to strip law-abiding gun owners of their 2nd Amendment rights for life, simply because they spanked their children or did nothing more than grab the wrist of a spouse;
• Newt supports the “Criminal Safezones Act” — He stood shoulder to shoulder with Nancy Pelosi to turn every school in America into a “criminal safe-zone,” where law-abiding adults are disarmed and defenseless while gun-toting thugs are free to commit horrific atrocities like the Columbine Massacre.

Now Newt is trying to sell himself as a “pro-gun conservative.” But with more than three decades as a public figure, Newt is the quintessential political chameleon, shifting his views to reflect whatever is popular with the chattering political class.

His ongoing betrayal is a transparent attempt to pander to the East Coast anti-gun media, and was the hallmark of his tenure in Congress.

While Newt used the institutional gun lobby as a mouthpiece to convince millions of gun owners nationwide that “as long as he is Speaker, no gun-control legislation is going to move in committee or on the House floor,” he was working behind the scenes to pass gun control.

He even referred to the anti-gunners’ efforts as “reasonable,” and predicted that their Lautenberg Gun Ban would sail through his Republican-controlled House of Representatives with little trouble.

That’s why I’ve been working so hard to mobilize members and supporters of the National Association for Gun Rights like you. YOU’VE been holding Newt Gingrich accountable for his past support of gun control.

Right now, during election season, is the best time to lobby politicians. There is no better time to hold their feet to the fire than when they are out looking for votes.

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- Have you heard about the National Association for Gun Rights’ lawsuit against the U.S. Post Service‘s gun ban?

Just a few weeks ago, a federal judge ruled that NAGR’s lawsuit was valid, and we’re now moving forward with it.

The U.S. Postal Service uses bureaucratic rules to ban your right to carry in a Post Office or in the parking lot, and that’s important, even if you don’t carry concealed — it’s the camel’s nose under the tent.

You see, the U.S. Postal Service claims Americans don’t have the right to self-defense in Post Offices.

There’s one problem with that claim: it isn’t true.

The law cited by the U.S. Postal Service creates an exception for “lawful carrying of firearms” for “other lawful purposes.” On top of that, both the Heller and McDonald Supreme Court decisions guarantee “the individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation.”

Sounds like it should be simple, right?

Well, no government bureaucracy ever gave up power without a fight.

And, given the anti-gun nature of the Obama administration, we know they aren’t going to instruct the U.S. Postal Service properly.

So your National Association for Gun Rights acted quickly to file suit against the U.S. Postal Service.

National Association for Gun Rights members Debbie and Tab Bonidy live in the mountains of Colorado, and are the plaintiffs — along with the National Association for Gun Rights — against the Postal Service.

Debbie Bonidy doesn’t like going anywhere without her personal handgun, which is why she went through the trouble of being trained, proving she’s law-abiding, and getting her concealed carry permit. Not only does the U.S. Postal Service say she can’t carry that handgun for self protection in a Post Office, but they arrogantly claim she can’t even leave it in her car when in their lot.

If we win this lawsuit, that outrageous policy will change in every Post Office in America.

P.S. I hope you will support our lawsuit against the U.S. Postal Services’ ban on self-defense. If we win, they’ll be forced to allow legally-authorized individuals to carry in Post Offices across the country.

NEWTOWN, Conn --(Ammoland.com)- A federal judge in Denver has allowed a lawsuit challenging the U.S. Postal Service’s ban on guns in post offices to go forward, the Denver Post reports.

A Colorado couple filed the lawsuit last year, saying the ban violates their Second Amendment rights.

Avon residents Debbie and Tab Bonidy filed the lawsuit last year, saying the ban violates their Second Amendment rights.

The Bonidys say they carry handguns for self-defense and both hold concealed-carry permits, and they do not receive mail service at their remote home.

Lawsuit Filed Against Post Office Gun Ban

They say the ban, which prohibits carrying guns both in post offices and in their parking lots, makes it impossible for them to pick up their mail.James Manley, an attorney at the Mountain States Legal Foundation who represents both the Bonidys and the National Association for Gun Rights in the lawsuit, said the case could have a nationwide impact.

“This is a situation that hasn’t been challenged before, where you have members of the general public who want to exercise their right to carry,” Manley said.

Newt Gingrich is the poster child for these sort of “flexible” principles.

I’ve been around the block a few times (I’m about to start my 20th year as a gun rights lobbyist) and dealt with literally thousands of candidates and politicians, but no Republican politician has managed to support and vote for anti-gun legislation and still proclaim that he is “pro-gun” more effectively than Newt Gingrich.

Don’t be fooled by his rise in the polls; Newt Gingrich has a long history of supporting gun control… and he has blatantly refused to return his National Association for Gun Rights Presidential Survey.

With more than three decades as a public figure, Newt is the quintessential political chameleon, shifting his views to reflect whatever is popular with the Washington, D.C. chattering class.

Make no mistake, while Newt may talk a solid conservative game, his record is that of a typical Inside-the-Beltway politician who will cut ANY compromise or make ANY deal with anyone for his own political or personal gain.

While Newt used the institutional gun lobby as a mouthpiece to convince millions of gun owners nationwide that “as long as he is Speaker, no gun-control legislation is going to move in committee or on the House floor,” he was working behind the scenes to pass gun control.

In 1996, Newt Gingrich turned his back on gun owners and voted for the anti-gun Brady Campaign’s Lautenberg Gun Ban, which strips the Second Amendment rights of citizens involved in misdemeanor domestic violence charges or temporary protection orders –- in some cases for actions as minor as spanking a child or grabbing a spouse’s wrist.(1)

Gingrich even called the anti-gun measure “reasonable,” and predicted that it would sail through his Republican-controlled House of Representatives with little trouble.(2)

The Lautenberg Gun Ban is one of the Congressional Republicans’ worst betrayals of gun owners, and those complicit in its passage deserve nothing but contempt from gun owners.

This gun control measure ranks right up there with the Brady Registration Act as the most aggressive gun control in America, denying hundreds of thousands of would-be gun owners the right to self defense.

Gingrich also stood shoulder to shoulder with Nancy Pelosi to pass the “Criminal Safezones Act” which prevents armed citizens from defending themselves in certain arbitrary locations. You and I both know that Criminal Safezones don’t protect law-abiding citizens, but actually protect the criminals who ignore them.(3)

As you can see, Newt Gingrich is no friend of gun owners, or small government conservatives. He simply can’t be trusted, and his record reflects his contempt not only for the truth, but his own integrity and the integrity of the very people he’s asking to vote for him to be the most powerful man in the modern world.

This is the same man who railed against the Obama bailouts of Fannie and Freddie Mac while receiving more than $1.5 million from Fannie Mae as a “consultant”(4) while his firm also raised $37 million to pass healthcare insurance mandates.(5)

He’s also the same man who sat next to Nancy Pelosi and insisted global warming was a man-made problem in need of a government-mandated solution. Now that he’s running for the Republican nomination, he doesn’t believe in global warming and calls the TV ad he did with Pelosi “inexplicable.” Please the watch the video above.(6)

I’m concerned, though, that Newt’s snake-oil act is catching on.

It’s time for gun owners and liberty-minded, small government activists to hold Newt’s feet to the fire.

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- Just when I thought confidence in government couldn’t get any lower, Barack Obama’s anti-gun Attorney General Eric Holder opened his mouth on Capitol Hill.

Testifying under oath before the U.S. Senate, Eric Holder came up with every excuse he could think of to defend the indefensible – the ATF’s gun-smuggling operation, “Fast & Furious.”

Holder placed the blame for his gun-smuggling operation on the lack of new gun control laws — specifically, a national gun registry.

And when asked to apologize to the family of murdered American Bolder Patrol Agent Brian Terry, Eric Holder refused to do so, and then stated that “I have not apologized to them.”

Holder pulled out every trick in the book in order to pass the buck for his ATF’s disastrous actions.

I’m shaking with outrage. You should be, too.

Eric Holder must go once and for all …

… but it won’t happen unless you make your voice heard on Capitol Hill — IMMEDIATELY!

So, please flood Capitol Hill with tens of thousands of petitions from enraged gun rights activists demanding that Eric Holder be fired:

You see, Barack Obama’s administration is filled with anti-gun zealots like Eric Holder working day and night to find a way – any way – to restrict our Second Amendment rights.

And with the 2012 elections right around the corner, the pressure is on in Washington to pass some form of gun control.

So when I heard Eric Holder testify before Congress today that “we have a responsibility to act” and pass gun control, I pressed the big red alert button in my office and ordered my staff to call all hands on deck.

I’ve asked my staff here at NAGR to use every resource we have available to mobilize as many gun activists as we can contact and urge them to put pressure on Capitol Hill to Fire Eric Holder.

I know how these anti-gunners operate, and Eric Holder isn’t any different.

In order to deflect from the ATF’s disastrous “Fast & Furious” operation, Holder testified that any criticism of himself or his agency was “cynical” and “overheated.”

Senator Mike Lee of Utah, a friend of the National Association for Gun Rights, asked Mr. Holder if he had made any mistakes in connection with “Fast & Furious.”

Mr. Holder brazenly said, “I think I acted in a responsible way.”

Holder even went so far as to say that “I did not know about Fast and Furious until it became public.”

It’s quite clear that Barack Obama and Eric Holder are in this for the long haul.

You and I only have one choice — double down. Crank up the pressure on Congress to Fire Eric Holder. “Fast & Furious” was a tool used by Barack Obama’s ATF to push gun control on the American people. Gun rights activists like you and me must never rest in our battle to fight gun-grabbers like Eric Holder.

One month from yesterday, December 8, Eric Holder testifies before a House committee. I’ll be sure to keep you updated with any new developments.

FAIRFAX, Va. --(Ammoland.com)- There’s been a lot of misguided, unfounded, and just plain incorrect information circulating on the Internet lately regarding H.R. 822 — the “National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011.”

Most of the false characterizations typically come from the anti-gun groups and media. But more and more, a small cadre of self-described “pro-gun” groups continually sound false alarms and “stir the pot” in an effort to be noticed. (And to raise money, of course.)

These repeat offenders peddle mischaracterizations as the gospel, and dilute the good work being done to protect the Second Amendment by legitimate groups.

Some of the misinformation borders on ridiculous. One group circulated an email this week (Thursday, October 20) warning readers that, “H.R. 822 could be taken up for a vote as early as tomorrow morning.” What the author failed to realize is that “tomorrow morning,” (Friday, October 21) was a day the U.S. House was not even in session! Not very confidence-inspiring.

The same group claimed H.R. 822 would include anti-gun amendments that would, in turn, create “disastrous federally mandated infringements on our rights.”

But, as we reported last week, the House Judiciary has already considered amendments to H.R. 822, and all anti-gun amendments offered that would weaken or gut the legislation were defeated.

The group even decries a “review” process that they claim will provide “a perfect opportunity for more changes.” In reality, this review has nothing to do with adding anti-gun amendments. The amendment only requires a study of the law’s effects, which would take place after the law takes effect.

For the record:

• H.R. 822 is a GOOD bill and is GOOD for gun owners.
• H.R. 822 ENHANCES Americans’ right to self-defense by enabling millions of permit holders to exercise their right to self-defense while traveling outside their home states.

There is currently only one remaining state (Illinois) that has no clear legal way for individuals to carry concealed firearms for self-defense outside the home. H.R. 822 would require states to recognize each others’ lawfully issued carry permits, just as they recognize driver’s licenses and carry permits held by armored car guards.

H.R. 822 DOES NOT:

• Create a federal licensing or registration system;
• Establish a minimum federal standard for the carry permit;
• Involve the federal bureaucracy in setting standards for carry permit;
• Destroy permitless carry systems such as those in Arizona, Alaska, Vermont and Wyoming.

Again, H.R. 822 is a good bill for gun owners. Don’t listen to false claims. Read the bill yourself and READ OUR FACT SHEET to get the facts.

State Senator Pam Galloway (R-Wausau) sponsored a concealed carry bill that Van Hollen is now trying to rewrite to include specific training requirements…

…Training requirements that lawmakers deliberately excluded from the bill!

Sen. Galloway stated that Hollen’s rewriting of the bill is “outrageous and a clear overreach.”

You and I both know Senators and Representatives are supposed to write legislation – not an Attorney General with a chip on his shoulder.

But that’s not the weirdest part. Guess what? Hollen is a yet another RINO (Republican-In-Name-Only) who was endorsed by the NRA.

Of course, as both you and I know, that works conveniently as “cover” for a politician.

And it seems to be more and more common to see a politician meddling with Second Amendment freedoms while holding up their NRA endorsement as “proof” that they are “pro-gun.”

That’s one of my favorite quotes of all time from one of my favorite actors of all time, John Wayne.

He was right …

… there are times when we all have to do things that we are scared of or aren’t comfortable with, but go forward with anyway.

The fact is, gun rights activists like you and me are under constant assault.

Most of the assaults are perpetrated by left-wingers in the media who despise guns.

Let’s face the facts — they carry the water for gun-grabbing politicians throughout this country.

And, of course, the gun controllers in academia are brain-washing American students to think that “guns are bad/evil/fill in the blank.”

There is nothing you and I can do about that except organize at the grassroots level in defense of our gun rights.

Very few elected politicians will stand up in the face of left-wing assaults and do what’s right. One of those politicians is Congressman Ron Paul of Texas, a long-time Second Amendment advocate.

I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think he really has to muster up any courage to “do what is right” when it comes to fighting the gun grabbers. I don’t think he cares what the media says.

That’s refreshing.

We need more elected officials who will defend our gun rights and not think such actions are “courageous” at all.

I wanted to write and inform you of Congressman Ron Paul’s “Citizens Protection Act of 2011.”

The bill number is H.R. 2613.

As you may know, since 1990, the federal government and Congress has designated ALL school zones “gun free.”

I call them “Criminal Safezones.”

You and I know that criminals and thugs don’t care what laws or restrictions or road blocks anyone puts up.

When a thug wants to murder or wreak havoc, no law or posted metal sign declaring an area “gun free” will deter them.

And for those of us gun owners who carry every day, we’re left defenseless in the face of a rampaging criminal, intent on doing significant harm.

Congressman Paul’s “Citizens Protection Act of 2011” would repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990 and remove all federal “Criminal Safezones.”

I’m personally asking you to call Congressman Paul’s office today and thank him for introducing H.R. 2613.

And once you are finished making that call, please call your Congressman at 202-224-3121 and make it known that you support H.R. 2613.

Send a message to Congress that “Criminal Safezones” are nothing more than federally-protected target practice locations for those willing to do harm to innocents.

I know you don’t need courage to pick up the phone and tell Congress what you believe about our gun rights.

Most so-called “pro-gun” politicians need to “saddle up” and do what is right even in the face of left-wing assaults.

“The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them.”

His commentary on government and its’ liberty-crushing power still rings true today.

And the fact that British colonial rulers conducted much of their affairs in secret, behind closed doors, out of the public view, provides an eerie parallel to many government agencies operating inside our country today.

The fact is, it’s the responsibility of gun owners and grassroots activists like you and me to keep a close on eye on our government, particularly on departments like the ATF, which has worked so hard for so long to restrict our Second Amendment rights.

That’s why the latest emerging developments coming out of the ATF’s gun smuggling operation, “Fast & Furious,” are so concerning.

Here is a department within our government whose leaders are appointed by President Obama and report directly to the head of the Justice Department – anti-gun Eric Holder – secretly smuggling weapons to drug cartels, all in an attempt to justify crushing our gun rights.

News broke recently that a gun store owner who was pressured by the ATF to sell weapons to members of drug cartels secretly taped conversations with an ATF agent.

In one of the conversations, the ATF agent shrugs off the death of an American border patrol agent saying that the savage murder was “collateral damage.”

• Every American should be outraged.
• Gun owners should be outraged.

This undercover operation, secretly conducted by our government, has now resulted in the death of at least three American border patrol agents.

And a member of the ATF dismisses these deaths as “collateral damage.”

I hope you will crank up the pressure on Congress to dig further into this secret operation that has resulted in the death of Americans.

They know that with President Obama in need of electoral support before the next election, the time is now to pursue their gun control schemes.

So, they’re not wasting any time.

In fact, BILLIONAIRE New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his gun control group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, have just launched a multi-million dollar media and TV-ad blitz aimed at painting gun owners as radical terrorists and setting the stage for a TOTAL ban on private firearm sales!

That’s why it’s vital you urge your Representative and Senators to oppose H.R. 591 — arch gun-hater Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy’s bill to close the so-called “gun show loophole” — or any other bill that would federally-infringe on private gun sales.

The fact is, you and I simply cannot afford to let anti-gunners like Brady and Bloomberg to use “national security” and the war on “terrorism” to destroy our gun rights. Should we, it’ll just be the tip of the iceberg.

You see, you and I have heard the gun control crowd blathering on and on about the so-called “gun show loophole” for years.

They simply can’t stand the fact that law-abiding citizens legally and routinely exercise their Second Amendment freedoms to buy and sell firearms out from under the watchful eyes of government snoops.

To make matters worse, they’re using Al-Qaeda and the guise of national security to pursue their anti-gun scheme.

Make no mistake about it — once they close the so-called “gun show loophole,” they’ll move on to:

• *** Ban sales of semi-automatic rifles or pistols between gun owners without government “licensing requirements.”

Want to buy that Glock your buddy at the gun range has for sale? Unless you have the proper paperwork, it will be ILLEGAL if the gun-grabbers have their way;

• *** Impose a sky-high tax to discourage all private sales.

While private sales may still remain legal for a time, the anti-gunners will impose a tax so high it will make obtaining the proper paperwork unaffordable;

• *** Enact a TOTAL ban on private sales and transfers — even between family members.

Looking forward to passing down granddad’s hunting rifle to your son? Well, if the gun-grabbers get their way, that’ll be illegal also.

I know this may all be hard to stomach, but you and I know who we’re dealing with.

They’ve even resorted to calling gun owners “terrorists” and calling for gun control in the name of “national security” in their national ad campaign.

Their dream society is one where every citizen is unarmed — except those who work for the federal government, of course. The riots in the United Kingdom show us just what a country without citizen ownership of firearms looks like — rampant looting by lawless thugs.

Everyone knows that kind of activity is extremely dangerous where law-abiding citizens have the right — and tools -– of self defense. bTo get there, they first need a national gun registry that gives them a complete database of every gun and every gun owner in America.

And the bad news is, we may be closer to that point than you think.

You see, the only thing stopping the gun-grabbers from using the Brady Bill’s unconstitutional “background checks” as their gun registration scheme are those hated private sales.

So regulating and finally banning all private sales is at the very top of their agenda.

Now, I know that with their majority in the Senate and Barack Obama in the White House, things look bleak at first glance.

Add to that the fact that the gun-grabbers are already spending millions on their new national media and TV ad campaign to ram Carolyn McCarthy’s H.R. 591 into law and even some of my closest friends start to get discouraged.

But I tell them – just like I’m telling you – that if you and I give this everything we have, the gun-grabbers will have a much tougher fight on their hands than they bargained for.

You see, next year is an election year.

Incumbent Congressmen and Senators have already begun their reelection campaigns, and the last thing they want is for anything “controversial” to cost them votes in November.

Of course, the anti-gunners like Michael Bloomberg and Sarah Brady don’t think calling gun owners “terrorists” and demanding Congress close the so-called “gun show loophole” is controversial at all.

In fact, they actually think it’s a “political winner” for the anti-gun Democrat leadership in Congress!

Well, once you and I explain to the American people the real agenda behind H.R. 591, we’ll prove the gun-grabbers DEAD WRONG!

But there may not be much time. If these new TV ads by Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns give us any indication, this fight will begin very soon!

That means we could find ourselves right smack in the middle of this monumental battle for our rights in just a matter of days.

You see, because this fight could “kick off” any day – and you and I MUST be prepared for anything – I’ve already begun printing our first grassroots mailing to alert gun rights supporters all over the country to the threat we’re facing.

To win, we’ll have to do much, much more.

The good news is, I believe our first mailing will create a firestorm and buy us enough time to implement the rest of what I have planned.

You know the program — direct mail, e-mail, blogs, and hard-hitting internet, newspaper, radio and TV ads.

But I can’t do any of this without your help.

Despite their massive majorities in Congress, we’ve successfully held off the gun-grabbers.

Rick Perry’s response to gun owners was…… silence.

Last week, Governor Perry’s deadline passed to return his National Association for Gun Rights Presidential Survey.

Over the last few weeks, tens of thousands of NAGR members and supporters phoned Governor Perry and his campaign staff urging him to return his NAGR Presidential Survey 100% in support of our Second Amendment rights.

Mr. Perry refused.

Mr. Perry refused to tell gun owners where he stands on important Second Amendment issues:

• *** The UN “Small Arms Treaty” — a global scheme currently being worked on that would gut the Second Amendment;
• *** The elimination of the ATF — the federal department responsible for smuggling weapons to Mexican drug cartels, and then attempting to cover their scandal up;
• *** Would Rick Perry veto or sign a bill to reauthorize the so-called “Assault Weapons” Ban, which banned certain full capacity magazines and many types of semiautomatic firearms?
• *** Whether or not he would sign or veto legislation to eliminate the 1993 Brady Registration Scheme.

This is more than troublesome to me.

I have seen this game played many times before when politicians refuse to openly say where they stand on gun rights.

They don’t want to go on record because they feel a need to have wiggle room to cut deals and compromise when they get into office.

And worst of all, Rick Perry appears to be the frontrunner.

Rick Perry needs to know that you don’t appreciate his stonewalling on our Second Amendment rights.

Our God-given right to defend ourselves and our families is under constant assault by Democrats AND Republicans in Washington.

The last thing you and I need is a Republican candidate for President who refuses to tell gun owners exactly where he stands on gun rights.

I’m sure you’ve heard that one before.

I’ve been dealing with politicians at all levels of government for more than two decades, and let me tell you, the gun-grabbers always tend to “flock together.”

Just yesterday I heard that former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is now backing the former gun-grabbing Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney.

By “former,” I mean Governor, not a “former” gun-grabber.

I’ll list Governor Romney’s record down below.

But really, this isn’t a surprise to me.

Before he dropped out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, Tim Pawlenty stonewalled gun owners in Iowa, and nationally, by refusing to return his National Association for Gun Rights’ Presidential Survey.

NAGR Director of Operations Luke O'Dell confronted Tim Pawlenty in Des Moines, IA. Governor Pawlenty REFUSED to say where he stood on important Second Amendment issues.

You may remember NAGR’s Director of Operations, Luke O’Dell, approaching Governor Pawlenty in Iowa demanding to know why he was stonewalling gun owners on issues like:

• The UN “Small Arms Treaty”;
• The unconstitutional Brady gun owner registration scheme;
• Banning of certain types of firearms;
• Greatly curtailing or even eliminating the ATF.

Is that too much to ask for? I don’t think so.

Gun owners deserve to know.

And I won’t be intimidated by “Establishment” Republican-types scoffing at the Second Amendment, telling grassroots gun rights activists like you and me to sit on the sidelines this election.

Mitt Romney’s record on the Second Amendment is more than concerning to me. It’s dangerous.

Banning firearms. Supporting the unconstitutional Brady gun owner registration scheme. Refusing to return NAGR’s Presidential Survey.

Gun rights activists like you and me don’t have to put up with Republican nominees who can’t even say where they stand on important Second Amendment issues.

Obama ~ ATF Gun Running Scandal Growing & Spreading to Your Town

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- It’s kind of like how I felt in school when I knew I didn’t do well on an exam, and sure enough, when I received my grade, I actually did worse.

Yeah, I’ve got that pit in my stomach.

It’s this ATF gun-running scandal. I knew it was bad …… but it’s only getting worse each day that passes.

I’m sure by now you know all about the ATF’s gun-smuggling scandal, “Fast & Furious.”

Imagine the worst gift you ever opened on Christmas morning. With this ATF scandal, you and I as gun owners and grassroots activists get to open a new one every day.

This last week, news broke revealing not only was the ATF forcing gun store owners to help them smuggle weapons to drug cartels south of the U.S.-Mexican border but also the ATF was forcing gun store owners in – Indiana – to sell similar weapons to criminals.

Fellow gun rights activist David Codrea has been all over this story. He reported that a gun store in Evansville, IN was targeted by the ATF in recent years. Evansville is middle America!

If the ATF has its’ tentacles in places like Evansville, where else might they be operating? Waterloo, IA. Florence, SC. Nashua, NH. Holland, MI. Your town, certainly.

I’m afraid that these ATF agents are everywhere.

And with the ATF taking direct orders from Barack Obama’s hand-picked Attorney General, Eric Holder, there’s no telling what they are capable of.

I do have something else on my mind. The Presidential election next year.

But even sooner, the Republican nomination for President.

Sure, Barack Obama could certainly still win, but what about the Republican candidates. Where do they stand on our gun rights?

Where do they stand on the ATF? Will someone pledge to defund the ATF? To aggressively reign them in?

With a known anti-gunner like Mitt Romney still as a top contender, I have reason to be concerned.

Mitt Romney’s record on guns is clear. He voted to ban certain types of firearms while governor of Massachusetts, supports the freedom-restricting Brady Bill and has refused to return NAGR’s Presidential Candidate Survey.

What about Rick Perry?
So far, with a deadline fast approaching, he hasn’t answered our survey. Sure, he touts the fact the he has a gun permit as proof that he is ”pro-gun,” but left-wing Democrats Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer and Chuck Schumer also have gun permits. And I know they aren’t “pro-gun.”

I want to make sure that the Republican candidates for President are thoroughly vetted and if Barack Obama loses, the ATF will be greatly restricted, if not eliminated.

There is too much on the line here.

Our Second Amendment rights have been under assault for decades. At times, the assault has been tougher to handle than others.

I’ve still got that pit in my stomach. I still have that horrible feeling about this ATF scandal.

It might be worse than you and I think.

Please get active in the grassroots gun rights community.

Make sure the Republican candidates for President, and your federally-elected officials, hear from you at town hall events, campaign rallies, over email and the phones.

Tell them you want to know where they stand on the ATF.

There was a party in Washington, DC last week to celebrate……taking your gun rights away.

No, I wasn’t invited. And neither were you. Just federal bureaucrats celebrating gun control.

You are reading that right. Whistle-blowers at CleanUpthe ATF.org tell us there was an actual party at the ATF to celebrate gun control.

Just to add a little salt to our wounds, the party was thrown with our tax dollars.

After months of opposition and resistance from grassroots gun rights activists like you, Eric Holder and the ATF decided by executive fiat that individuals purchasing multiple types of long guns in southern border states would be reported to the government.

Yes, that’s right. Gun owners data-based. Put in a system. Tracked.

Sure, they say this is to prevent “drug cartels” and “terrorists” from conducting their business, but I think you and I know the real reason for this new anti-gun program.

Eric Holder, Barack Obama and the rest of this left-wing gun-grabbing administration are out to restrict your gun rights any way they can.

After all, remember the last time the ATF tried to implement a program to stop the “drug cartels” — “Fast and Furious” – the ATF was actually smuggling weapons to them, all in an attempt to get public support for the passage of the anti-gun UN “Small Arms Treaty.”

These anti-gunners tell us that their gun control agenda is “reasonable,” but just wait, you and I will wake up one morning, read the paper and find out that they want to implement gun control on the rest of the country.

I know these guys like the back of my hand — they have to pay back Barack Obama’s gun control pals like billionaire New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Time is getting short on this administration. I would expect more of this in the weeks and months to come.

Now is as good a time as any to remind ourselves of the type of gun control “ideas” Obama’s administration and left-wing allies in Congress have come up with recently:

• *** BANNING the private sales of ALL firearms between American citizens;
• *** BANNING certain types of hunting and self-defense ammunition that meet arbitrary conditions;
• *** BANNING standard magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

I guarantee you that these bans are just the tip of the iceberg.

With anti-gun allies Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Fienstein and the Brady Campaign in positions of power plodding around Washington, gun control is actively being worked on as I write this.

I’ve even heard anti-gun Republican Senator John McCain pipe up recently — calling for more gun control. Of course, he calls his gun grabs “reasonable restrictions.”

Gun owners took one on the chin with this bureaucratic dictate from Eric Holder and the ATF. I’m not surprised the ATF is celebrating gun control.

I spend all my waking hours working to fight these gun controllers in every corner of this country. It’s that passion for defending our liberties and freedoms that you and I share.

I despise seeing people like Barack Obama and Eric Holder get what they want — but, if you and I stay active and recruit more grassroots gun rights activists into the fold, we will see far fewer of these gun control parties.

Stay active and involved in the gun rights movement.

You are needed in this battle to protect our Second Amendment rights more than ever.

Recent news that ATF head Kenneth Melson was stepping down should be proof-positive to every gun rights activist that your voice CAN make a difference.

Phone calls, emails, faxes and letters. They all carry weight, despite what the politicians say.

Never let up. Our Second Amendment rights are too important.

You did the job the media was supposed to do — you cranked up the pressure in Washington and exposed the ATF’s gun-smuggling operation, “Fast and Furious,” that brought Melson down.

You see, you are the frontlines. You are in the trenches. Give yourself a pat on the back…

…but that’s where the good news ends.

You and I have to get back to work — TODAY. By the time I finished reading that Melson had stepped down, I smelled a skunk.

You know that smell, right? The kind that burns your nostrils?

That smell is coming all the way from hot and humid Washington, D.C. It’s coming from Eric Holder at the Justice Department, right down the street from the White House.

You see, Melson did not stepped down as the head of the ATF, but he was “reassigned” within the Justice Department. He was the fall guy, but they gave him a life preserver and an inflatable raft as they threw him overboard.

They want you to think there is a “shake-up” and “accountability” at the ATF, but these actions stink to high heaven.

Is Attorney General Eric Holder running a shell game right in front of the public’s eyes, or are they all just playing musical deck chairs as their “Titanic” goes down?

Despite Holder’s attempt to show he is taking action on the “Fast and Furious” gun-smuggling debacle by “reassigning” the current ATF director, you and I know better. It’s a bureaucratic boondoggle that Barack Obama and Eric Holder hope will distract from the criminal activities their anti-gun department has been engaging in.

No, it’s not time to let up. It’s time to step on the gas. Eric Holder, Barack Obama and Melson’s cohorts at the ATF hope that “Fast and Furious” will just go away. But this scandal that you helped uncover is too big to ignore, and together, you and I won’t let it go away.

The ATF’s gun-smuggling operation, “Fast and Furious”:

• *** Armed foreign drug lords and gangs;
• *** Made it possible for criminals outside the United States to acquire new weapons to add to their arsenal;
• *** Led to the death of at least one border patrol agent.

Why is Eric Holder still allowed to hold the highest law enforcement position in the country?

I need you to call your Congressman and Senators — AT ONCE! Ask them why Eric Holder isn’t being investigated and why the ATF is not being stripped of its funding.

What do you think would happen if YOU gave a semi-automatic rifle to a Mexican drug lord? You would be in jail for a very, very long time.

Don’t fall for this “reshuffling” — it’s an attempt to get you to shut up and go away. Here’s my advice to you: Crank up the pressure on your elected officials.

Even one of America’s premier political news sites, Politico.com, has picked up the story about how National Association for Gun Rights members just like you toppled Tim Pawlenty’s Presidential campaign.

The article even noted my subsequent call for NAGR members to lobby Governor Rick Perry to return the National Association for Gun Rights Presidential Candidate Survey.

However, Politco.com writer Maggie Haberman missed the mark when she noted that Perry has a concealed carry permit by assuming he must be pro-gun because he has a concealed weapon permit.

Senator Barbara Boxer, seen here vilifying semi-automatic rifles with Dianne Feinstein, has a permit to carry.

The Washington, D.C. elites just don’t get it. They think that simply having a concealed weapon permit automatically makes any politician pro-gun.

Do you think California Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer is pro-gun? No, I don’t think so, either.

But Barbara Boxer used her influence to secure an elusive concealed carry permit from California.

I can almost hear her trying to deceive gun owners… “Trust me, I have a permit.”

Or how about New York Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer?

Schumer himself is reported to possess a New York concealed handgun permit, and both U.S. Senators regularly employed armed guards for their personal protection.

Just because a politician recognizes that being armed makes THEM safer, doesn’t mean they support YOUR right to keep and bear arms. They think they’re different than you and me, that because of their title they’re entitled to MORE rights than we are.

The Second Amendment is about much more than just carrying concealed… or hunting… or sport shooting.

Your right to keep and bear arms is a bulwark against tyranny.

Chuck Schumer, one of the most anti-gun Senators in Washington D.C., obtained a permit to carry for self-defense.

That’s why the National Association for Gun Rights sends Presidential Candidate Surveys to politicians like Tim Pawlenty and Governor Rick Perry.

Gun owners MUST know where they stand on important issues like banning magazine or bans on certain types of semi-automatic rifles, or opposing the United Nations’ Small Arms Treaty gun-grab.

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- You know, those rats that come out of the woodwork every time a lone nut decides to take personal anger out on innocent bystanders?

I’ve spent my fair share of time on Capitol Hill, and let me tell you, the gun control lobbyists have their tentacles wrapped around scores of Congressional offices right now.

They’ve been particularly active the last few months after the lone gunman shootings in Arizona and Europe.

And now, anti-gun Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy is saying that “there should be a lot of shame” on the part of gun owners.

Trust me, I’m not ashamed to exercise my Second Amendment rights, and no amount of browbeating from a gun-grabbing Congresswoman is going to change my mind.

If I have anything to say about it, my Second Amendment rights will not be taken away because of the actions of two crazed individuals. And you shouldn’t let the gun grabbers take your gun rights away either.

That’s why I’ve put together petitions to your Congressman and Senators urging them to vote “NO” on the Gun-Grabbers’ Magazine Ban Bill (H.R. 308) — or any other similar bill.  But first, let me tell you what I know personally about the gun control lobby.

I’ve been fighting against these guys for more than 20 years. If you were to walk right past one of the gun control lobbyists on Capitol Hill, you might think nothing of it.

But let me be clear: they have dangerous, liberty-crushing intentions. I know them like the back of my hand. And whenever a tragedy occurs anywhere in the world, they renew their push for gun control.

They have no better friend on Capitol Hill than anti-gun Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy. As I write this, one of the biggest domestic threats to your gun rights on Capitol Hill is McCarthy’s Magazine Ban Bill.

If H.R. 308 is passed, the sale or transfer of firearm magazines with a capacity of more than ten rounds would be ILLEGAL. But that’s not all. My staff has dug into McCarthy’s Magazine Ban Bill, and there is more — a lot more.

Do you already own a handgun, rifle or shotgun with a magazine that holds more than ten rounds?

For now, the law says that you are “legal.” If the gun control lobby gets their way, you can’t ever sell it, give it away or pass it down to your kids. (New Jersey has passed this exact law for magazines greater than 15 rounds)

In fact, Congresswoman McCarthy’s bill would turn widows into instant FELONS if their late husbands possessed a 12-round magazine!

You know, people talk on Capitol Hill. In fact, they talk a lot. I’m not just referring to the elected Representatives and Senators; I’m talking about the people who talk “behind the scenes.”

What I’m hearing on Capitol Hill should strike fear into us all: President Obama recently met with House Republicans to discuss McCarthy’s Magazine Ban Bill.

Yes, that’s right, House Republicans, many with so-called “pro-gun” credentials, have discussed a deal to get H.R. 308 passed.

It’s all just a game being played by the White House. They know they will take whatever gun control they can get out of the Republican-controlled House . . .

. . . then unleash their BIG GUNS in the Senate, where a full roster of eager, left-wing gun control lieutenants will launch attack after attack on our gun rights by attaching anti-freedom amendments to the bill.

That’s why I need you to contact your representatives IMMEDIATELY.

If you and I don’t stop President Obama and the gun grabbers dead in their tracks – right now – we risk losing even more of our rights.

In fact, once the bill reaches the Senate floor, my sources on Capitol Hill are telling me dozens of amendments are already in the works, including:

• *** Mandatory waiting periods, and expensive, drawn-out “psychological screenings” designed to force ALL law-abiding citizens to get government approval before purchasing a firearm;
• *** A TOTAL ban on all private sales under the guise of “closing the gun-show loophole”;
• *** A new so-called “Assault Weapons” Ban, targeting ALL semi-automatic rifles and shotguns — which, unlike the Clinton ban, will NEVER expire;
• *** A National Concealed Carry “Standard” — designed to make it even more difficult for law-abiding citizens to carry a gun to protect themselves and their families from murderers like Jared Loughner.

Don’t get tricked by this one — this “standard” is nothing more than the feds forcing states to slow down the approval of concealed carry permits, and make the remaining permits null-and-void in most areas!

And with the full backing of the White House and the anti-gun media, you and I can’t take anything for granted. After all, just their efforts alone will be difficult enough to overcome.

But what if – God forbid – there’s another criminal rampage? You and I both know President Obama and his anti-gun pals will rush to exploit it. That’s why you and I must strangle this monster in its crib NOW before it’s too late.

The staff here at NAGR is taking nothing for granted — we know how these left-wing anti-gunners work. They are going to fire all the ammunition that they have to get any gun control that they can.

Complicating NAGR’s efforts to stop gun control in Washington are prominent Republicans (actually, they are RINO’s) like U.S. Senator Richard Lugar, former Vice President Dick Cheney and Homeland Security Chairman Peter King have already voiced support for additional gun controls.

These so-called “pro-Second Amendment” Republicans sicken me. One day they say they support “gun rights,” then the next day there they are calling for “reasonable restrictions” on our freedoms, back-slapping and hand-shaking with their left-wing accomplices.

Well, I don’t know about you, but I believe “shall not be infringed” MEANS WHAT IT SAYS.

And I believe the LAST thing pro-gun folks should be doing is cozying up to the anti-gun crowd and cutting deals — especially with President Obama in the White House. Instead, you and I must do everything in our power to stop the anti-freedom plans of the gun grabbers.

There is absolutely no way we can succeed without your help.

I am launching the National Association for Gun Rights’ three-part plan to fight back, including:

• Contacting ten million Americans through U.S. mail, email and our state-of-the-art telemarketing campaign;
• Launching an all-out public relations campaign to include op-eds, blogs, talk radio briefings, press conferences and media interviews where I’ll gladly lock horns with anti-gun extremists in defense of our Second Amendment rights;
• An all-out media blitz to include hard-hitting internet and radio ads calling on KEY Congressmen and Senators to vote NO on H.R. 308 or any similar bill. I’ve already begun to hear from tens of thousands of gun rights activists, and my staff and I are generating opposition through the email, mail and phones.

But this must be a sustained campaign against anti-gun legislators in Washington. You and I must keep up the pressure.

For more than two years now, you and I have defied the naysayers and pushed back against President Obama and his left-wing gun grabbing allies in the Congress.

But this Magazine Ban scheme could prove to be the toughest battle you and I have ever been involved in.

P.S. The gun-grabbers’ goal is to sneak the Magazine Ban Bill (H.R. 308) through the U.S. House with as little fanfare as possible and then load it down with anti-gun amendments once it reaches the Senate.

And now news reports show many supposedly pro-gun Republicans and even “gun rights groups” are considering backing the scheme!

Two Presidential Candidates, Congressman Ron Paul and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann have returned the National Association for Gun Rights Presidential Survey 100% pro-gun.

What does that mean?

It means that Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann…

• believe that the Second Amendment is an individual right, protected by the Constitution;
• oppose the United Nations’ “Small Arms Treaty” gun grab;
• oppose the banning of semi-automatic firearms;
• oppose banning rifle, pistol or shotgun magazines based on arbitrary capacity limits;
• oppose Big Brother firearm registration schemes; ***will use their executive powers to lift the ban on importation of various rifles, shotguns and handguns currently in place;
• will use their executive powers to greatly curtail or even abolish the egregiously anti-gun Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This is the department that has finally admitted under Congressional testimony that they allowed known criminals to buy guns that they couldn’t legally purchase in a bizarre attempt to clamp down on arms trafficking. These same guns were used later in the murder of a US Border Guard and others.

Ron Paul has a long history of support for gun owner’s rights in Congress, often in the face of opposition from party leaders on both sides of the aisle.

Michele Bachmann has been a solid vote for gun owners since her election to Congress in 2006. Unfortunately , her vote for the mis-named Patriot Act was a black mark on her otherwise solid record.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is the early front-runner, Mitt Romney, is ardently anti-gun.

As Governor of Massachusetts, Romney gloated about signing a permanent “assault weapons” ban far worse than the ban pushed by Bill Clinton and Janet Reno.

“[Semi-automatic firearms] are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people,” declared Romney in a press release touting his signature of the Massachusetts “assault weapons” ban in 2004.

Mitt Romney views gun owners just like Obama does.

They both think gun owners – like you and me – are merely blood thirsty, domestic terrorists.

I hope you can spare a few moments, and join me, by making a statement for our gun rights.

DeMint stands against UN gun ban

All we need is 34 “no” votes in the Senate.

Well, make that 32, now.

After Senator Rand Paul became the first to sign our American Firearm Sovereignty Pledge, another patriot and champion of gun rights did as well.

Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), a long time ally of gun rights, has signed the American Firearm Sovereignty Pledge, making it very clear that he will do everything in his power to stop any attempt to subvert your Second Amendment rights by the United Nations.

With the ATF conspiring to create violence along our border, international bodies are crying about US gun laws being too “lax.” The UN Small Arms Treaty is seen by many of those same voices as a solution.

But with our own ATF creating the problem and our Justice Department signing off on it…is there really a problem, other than our own out-of-control bureaucracy?

In signing our pledge, Senator DeMint has solidified his position and declared that international powers cannot and must not dictate our legislative process.

He is truly a champion for gun owners to get behind.

But, like I said, my goal is for 32 more. For that to happen, I need your help. I need to increase the pressure on Senators we have our eyes on. It’s a big fight on an international stage.

I can’t do it alone.

Obama Admits Plans for Gun Control

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- It’s coming. Obama’s massive anti-gun payoff is in the works.

I’ve been telling you since he took office that Obama was going to launch a MAJOR ATTACK on your gun rights.

Recently, Obama even admitted he was going to do it “under the radar”…

Well, according to reports coming straight out of the White House, the President is getting ready to unveil some serious “reform” to gun laws.

With his reelection campaign in full swing, Obama is getting ready to pay the anti-gun piper, and he’ll use any means necessary.

Obama and his anti-gun allies have their sights set on:

• BANNING the private sales of ALL firearms between American citizens;
• Ban certain types of hunting and self-defense ammunition that meet arbitrary conditions;
• BAN standard magazines that hold more than 10 rounds;
• AND; they might even shoot for one of their biggest goals: to ban semi-automatic rifles and all handguns.

They’re just waiting for the next crisis — the next school shooting or public attack – to exploit, so they can use the blood of innocents to grease the wheels of their anti-gun, anti-freedom agenda.

To make matters worse, we can’t count on the Republican leadership in the House or Senate to stand with gun owners. Their eagerness to cut deals with Obama on raising the debt ceiling, despite OVERWHELMING tea party opposition, gives me no reason to think they won’t cave on gun rights if Obama comes calling.

Obama has directed notorious anti-gunner and Justice Department stooge, Eric Holder, to work with “Second Amendment stakeholders” to craft Executive orders and administrative rulings on gun rights.

As you know, Eric Holder is neck-deep in the Congressional investigation into the Gunwalker controversy, involving ATF agents permitting firearms to be smuggled to violent Mexican drug cartels.

Just who exactly are the stakeholders Holder will be working with?

It’s certainly not gun owners, or no-compromise gun rights organizations like the National Association for Gun Rights. I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for an invite to THOSE meetings.

Sarah Brady, billionaire-playboy Michael Bloomberg, Hillary Clinton; those are the “stakeholders” that will be crafting Obama’s anti-gun schemes.

Members of the institutional gun lobby may be eager to join Bloomberg and company to beg for scraps at Obama’s bargaining table, but I won’t. The National Association for Gun Rights will NEVER compromise, and will ALWAYS stand firm against the anti-gunners in Washington.

When the White House was asked how long before they acted on this issue, their response was, “not far in the future.”

Something big is coming, they’ve got to pay off their anti-gun allies before the next election, and time is running short.

What worries me is, with how sneaky Obama and his cronies are, most people won’t be aware of it until it AFTER it happens…

…until it’s too late.

That’s why I need you to be aware.

I need you to know just how subversive and underhanded this administration is.

Obama has been dropping hints to his pals in the anti-gun lobby that he’s working on gun control “under the radar. Now he’s getting ready to take advantage of the fact that nobody is paying attention to gun laws.

He’s COUNTING on people like you being distracted by the debate about the economy or who is leading in the pennant race, or worrying about getting all your bills paid, as cover to push his anti-gun schemes.

I know that I can count on you to pay attention to the gun-grabbers in Washington when nobody else is watching.

After all, they are counting on you looking in the opposite direction so they can ram their anti-gun agenda down your throat before you can say “Second Amendment.”

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- If you’re anything like me, you’ve been watching the various Republican Presidential candidates struggle to claim the mantle of “Constitutional Conservative” with some trepidation.

But who, among the candidates, actually supports our Constitutional rights?

Let me tell you, it’s easy to be sucked in by the latest fad candidate — beloved by the talking heads on TV and radio. Remember that the “beautiful people” in the establishment, political class lie to us for a reason.

They want our support, and will do or say anything to keep it, all the while continuing to protect the apparatus of state that provides them with power.

This is an important lesson for gun owners, who are perpetually the target of Big Government, anti-liberty advocates.

Take Texas Governor Rick Perry for example. From the fawning adulation he’s received from “conservatives” in the media over his flirtation with entering the Presidential race, you’d think he was the second coming of John Wayne, Ronald Reagan and John Galt all put together.

The political establishment doesn’t want to let the truth get in the way of a good story — or “political narrative,” as the hacks call it.

Despite the veneer of “conservative” and “liberty” language that Perry uses, his patronage by the Big Government Bush family and his record tell a completely different story.

In response to the outrageous invasions of privacy by the Transportation Safety Authority (TSA), liberty-loving conservatives in Texas were trying to outlaw TSA’s “grope-or-radiate” airport security policy — a clear government assault on your rights.

The policy requires all those traveling by air to submit either to physical pat-downs, which are little more than government sponsored sexual assaults, or invasive and radiation-heavy, semi-pornographic body scans.

There is no question that blocking the use of the “grope-or-radiate” security policy is the right thing to do; heck, even the executive director of the Texas Republican Party pleaded with Perry for passage of the bill.

However, Governor Perry and his stooges in the Texas Legislature decided to play political games with your freedom.

An open record request shows that in a few short days, Governor Perry received over 10,000 e-mails and letters insisting he support the legislation to rein in the TSA. He received only 13 letters in favor of keeping the radiation scanners.

Despite the overwhelming support, Perry delayed.

Taking a page out of the establishment playbook, he claimed that there was a lack of “consensus,” knowing full well all he had to do was delay long enough for the legislative session to end.

Instead of standing up for the liberties and privacy of the people of Texas, Governor Perry and his Big Government accomplices waited until the last day of the session to bring the legislation to the floor, assuring it wouldn’t have enough time to pass both chambers.

Despite intentionally delaying the bill and instructing his accomplices in the Texas Legislature to repeatedly try to poison the bill with amendments, Perry continues to tell everyone on the national stage that he supported the bill.

This is a prime of example of how establishment politicians like Governor Perry try to dupe citizens like you and me. On the one hand they claim to be liberty-minded conservatives, while at the same time, fighting to protect and expand the power of government behind the closed doors of the legislature.

Why does this matter? It’s simple.

Gun rights activists MUST oppose ANY attempts by the Federal government to usurp liberty in the name of safety, because ultimately, that same power will be used to ban or greatly restrict gun owners and gun ownership.

Perry and company managed to manipulate the system so that every member could cast a vote in support of the pro-liberty bill – and clean their skirts with the voters at home – without the fear that it might actually pass and limit the authority of government.

This sort of establishment calculation is designed specifically to provide cover to weak politicians who can go home to their districts and tell their constituents that they voted the “right” way — and the beast that is our government continues to grow.

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- Attorney General Eric Holder and his anti-gun cronies at the Justice Department are starting to realize they may be in some hot water.

But, as was to be expected, they are going to throw someone else under the bus and hope it all goes away…

After a revealing week of hearings on the horribly corrupt “Project Fast & Furious” – the BATFE’s attempt to create crime in order to make themselves relevant – the head of the ATF, Kenneth Melson, is getting ready to take the fall by resigning.

I guess Eric Holder still refuses to take any responsibility and is placing all the blame on his subordinates.

As you now well know, courageous agents within the ATF have been testifying before Congress that senior leadership at both the ATF and the Justice Department forced gun shops to sell firearms to known smugglers who sold the guns to drug cartels in Mexico.

This disastrous plan resulted in multiple federal agents being shot and killed with weapons that were allowed to “walk” into Mexico.

And this happened even after agents working on the case warned their superiors that it would happen.

The response from ATF/Justice Department leadership? “That a few “eggs” have to be scrambled to make an omelette.”

Now, in light of all this controversy, the acting director of the ATF is trying to take the fall by resigning.

But this is where it gets really shady. Guess who his replacement is supposed to be? A man I’ve been keeping my eye on for a while – Andrew Traver.

You see, Andrew Traver has been an enemy of gun owners for quite some time.

As head of the Chicago division of the ATF he has advocated nearly every gun ban you can think of. And even some you haven’t. To give you an idea, he’s been Obama’s number one choice to head the agency since last year.

The simple fact is……he’s worse than the guy he’s replacing.

And what’s more is that, because he’s been the one Eric Holder wanted for quite some time to step in as the director, it is inconceivable that he was not briefed at some point on Project Fast & Furious.

They’ve been talking about Traver taking the helm of the BATFE for at least 6 months (that I know of).

Do you think that a guy being groomed for that position wouldn’t be briefed on the agency’s biggest operation? I think you know where this is going…

While it is certainly clear that ATF leadership needs cleaning out, to replace the current director with one who is admittedly anti-gun and clearly involved in what his boss is already in trouble over…

Well, that’s unacceptable in my book.

I called my Congressman and told him that replacing one leader who has no respect for my rights with another one doesn’t “fix” the problem.

It’s an attempt to pacify the public. They know it, but they’re hoping you don’t.

Give them a call and tell them you know what the Justice Department is trying to do and you’re not falling for it.

Call your Congressman at (202) 224- 3121 and tell them that the ATF needs a serious overhauling and that the Attorney General needs to be held responsible for this flagrant abuse of the law.

Make sure they know that your Second Amendment rights are more important than funding some rogue Agency Gone Wild.

I know I’m going to call everyone I know in politics and make sure this doesn’t go unnoticed.

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- Operation Fast & Furious – or as we have been calling it, “Project Gunwalker” – is becoming a large scandal very fast and most furiously.

One media outlet referred to it yesterday as “worse than Iran-Contra.”

As you know, the anti-gun brass at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) conspired to force gun dealers to sell firearms to criminals who in turn walked those firearms across the border into Mexico and into the hands of dangerous drug gangs.

The BATFE administration blatantly ignored its own agents’ warnings in order to advance their anti-gun political agenda. By sanctioning and encouraging the sale, literally thousands of firearms ended up in the hands of violent Mexican drug cartels.

The result? At least two American law enforcement agents killed, one Mexican military helicopter shot down and over 100 Mexican officers killed or wounded.

That’s not counting the crime that could come in the future.

The BATFE purposefully armed men who are considered by our own Federal law enforcement agents to be more dangerous than al Qaeda.

And now, thanks to thousands of gun owners — patriots who took action and called their Congressmen -- the anti-gun zealots who run the BATFE are facing a Congressional inquiry.

Last Wednesday, after a full day of hearings, the Chairman of the US House of Representatives Oversight and Government Reform Committee had this to say regarding guns going into Mexico:

“Could that be a political decision? Could that be a decision that basically, we just want to substantiate that guns in America go to Mexico…?”

You see what’s going on here.

Let’s retrace the steps:

• The Obama administration and Hillary Clinton State Department assert that most of the guns used in Mexican crimes come from America, and that in the name of regional stability “more restriction on law-abiding American Firearms owners are needed and the United States must sign on to the United Nations Small Arms Treaty.
• The BATFE begins investigating this “claim”, and creates a “sting operation” to ensure American guns end up in Mexico.
• Then they force gun dealers to sell firearms to known criminals who smuggle the guns to violent Mexican drug cartels.
• Agents on the ground in this investigation said that it was a horrible idea, but the operations were authorized and supported by leading officials in the BATFE and the Justice Department.

The mantra of the anti-gun Left is simple: “never let a crisis go to waste.” And if there isn’t a convenient crisis, go ahead and make one up.

This is exactly the strategy Obama and his anti-gun allies have been practicing for years. They will use this “crisis” to ram federal gun control legislation down the throats of American citizens.

But I know you won’t stand for it. I’m going to remind them every chance I get, and remind them that you are behind me.

Of course you don’t, and while people like you and me think the answers to those questions are pretty obvious, there are other countries in the world where they think it’s a great idea.

And guess what?

The governments of some of those countries are now spending millions of dollars in the United States to change our system to be more like theirs.

That’s right.

A recent report showed that the European Union, by way of its “human rights” fund, has been shelling out over $30 million a year on leftist causes in America.

• Global warming propaganda.
• International criminal courts.
• Anti-gun campaigns.

All of it having money funneled from ineffective, socialist-styled regimes that have proven to be failures.

Think about that for a minute.

While anti-gunners like the Brady Campaign whine and cry about how much money the supposed “gun lobby” has, groups like theirs are being funded by European GOVERNMENTS!

The European Union’s own Commission accounts also show that untold millions of dollars have gone to “unnamed individual opinion formers” in the United States.

Opinion formers. Funded by the European Union..?

I would like to say I’m surprised by this, but the fact of the matter is, I have been trying to warn people for well over a year about things like this.

Remember the UN Small Arms Treaty I’ve been telling you about? I think you know how that fits in.

The very simple fact of the matter is that the Euro is beating the Dollar right now, and so the European Union – by taxing the snot out of their citizens – can drop a few million on their pet causes in the U.S. and have it go a long, long way.

That’s what we’re up against.

• Not just liberal politicians in our own country.
• Not just freedom-hating, liberal interest groups.
• Entire countries.

Generating billions and billions in tax payer revenue, and pilfering those funds to further their leftist agenda.

I’d like to say this fight will be easy, but you and I both know that’s not true.

With Senators like Rand Paul being a rarity, there aren’t a lot of people in Washington fighting against this kind of nonsense.

I intend to change that.

I will keep you posted on anything else I hear about this story, as I’m sure you are as interested in it as I am.

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- As I told you last week, during Senate debate on the mis-named “Patriot Act,” Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced an amendment to protect gun owners’ firearm purchase records from the warrant-less searches authorized by the mis-named “Patriot” Act.

That sounds like a good cause for Second Amendment groups to get behind, right?

That’s why the National Association for Gun Rights, other active gun groups and Senate leaders like Jim DeMint (R-SC) and Mike Lee (R-UT), all got behind the Paul Amendment.

But not the NRA.

They criticized Senator Paul for his efforts and OPPOSED the amendment!

And they did it publicly, in a letter that gave cover to every weak-kneed and anti-gun Senator to vote against the Paul Amendment.

The NRA claimed they “could not support” an amendment which only sought to exempt firearm purchases from Patriot Act provisions.

In true Orwellian fashion, the NRA told Senators that Paul’s amendment, “encourages the government to use provisions in current law that allow access to firearms records without reasonable cause, warrant, or judicial oversight of any kind.”

Even a cursory review of Paul’s amendment would have shown that it was written to prevent the very thing that the NRA claimed it was fostering!

Sen. Paul’s amendment said “nothing in the USA PATRIOT Act… shall authorize the investigation or procurement of firearms records which is not authorized under chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code.”

In other words, no warrant-less fishing expeditions of gun owners’ records — which is exactly what Chapter 44 of Title 18 prevents.

Think about that for a minute.

Rand Paul, champion of Second Amendment freedoms, desired to add a provision to legislation which would protect gun owners and firearms purchase records from the warrant-less searches authorized by the mis-named “Patriot” Act…

…and the NRA opposed it.

I would like to tell you that I think they have some sort of strategy here, but I’ll be honest, I’m struggling to see what it is.

My phones here have been ringing off the hook with people calling in and asking what in the world the NRA is thinking.

And I haven’t even told you the strangest part.

The day after the vote on Paul’s amendment, the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action released a press release that — you guessed it — confirmed Senator Paul’s concerns regarding Federal law enforcement agencies targeting law-abiding American gun owners.

They reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the ATF have been circulating flyers demanding gun shops report “suspicious” customers to their “local Joint Terrorism Task Force.”

Their criteria for what constituted a “suspicious” person?

• paying in cash instead of credit cards
• an interest in concealed weapons
• purchasing large quantities of ammunition
• traveling “great” distances to use shooting ranges
• Knowing little about firearms

Gun shops are filled with law-abiding Americans — many of whom frown on debt and pay with cash — who are purchasing concealed weapons for self-defense and trying to learn as much as they can about firearms.

So on one day, the NRA publicly stated that they couldn’t support Rand Paul’s amendment on the basis that it was unnecessary.

And on the very next day their own legislative analysis team echoed Paul’s concern by stating that certain law enforcement agencies have gone “overboard” by targeting broad groups of American citizens with authorities granted by the Patriot Act.

They stated: “Since the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is responsible for enforcing federal gun laws, dealers and other federal firearm licensees typically contact that agency (or state or local police) when they encounter suspicious customers. So, it raised eyebrows when the FBI began circulating flyers in gun shops and ranges, encouraging owners of those businesses to report suspicious customers to ‘your local Joint Terrorism Task Force’ instead.”

It is virtually certain that these same “suspicious” American citizens would then be tracked using provisions of the mis-named Patriot Act.

I cannot tell you what insider game NRA lobbyists may have thought they were playing.

What I can tell you with utmost certainty, however, is that the National Association for Gun Rights will never, ever compromise when it comes to Second Amendment freedoms. I have built this organization on that premise, and I will not back down now.

Nor will I ever.

We’re not going to oppose an amendment – sponsored by a hero of Second Amendment freedoms – in order to curry favor with weak-willed leadership (of both parties). Frankly, I’d rather close our doors than play these kinds of parlor tricks.

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- Senator Rand Paul fought well into the night against the big-government, anti-gun power grab of the Patriot Act (S. 1038).

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had promised to allow amendments to the bill. But my capitol hill sources tell me he was livid that Senator Paul was trying to introduce an amendment to exempt all firearm records from the Patriot Act searches.

Instead of allowing the amendments, Harry Reid and his Police-state conspirators in Republican leadership are throwing out all the rules – and their own promises to allow Paul’s pro-gun amendment – in order to secure passage of the freedom-shredding Patriot Act.

Senator Paul’s valiant defense of gun owners through amendments and procedural motions would have pushed a final vote on the four-year extension of the Patriot Act into the weekend.

This has Reid and Obamacrats scrambling to find “creative” ways to pass the bill before certain elements of the legislation expire on Friday.

Reid has found a way to cheat Senator Paul and gun owners out of a vote on Paul’s pro-gun amendment while doing the bidding of the anti-gun Obama Administration.

You see the anti-gunners in Washington D.C. are desperate to keep the tools of the mis-named Patriot Act to spy on “domestic terrorists” — translate that to mean law-abiding gun owners like you and me.

Instead of allowing Paul to introduce amendments, with debate and votes that would follow, Reid is going to take the entire mis-named Patriot Act and amend it on to a small business bill that just passed the House.

In simple terms, Reid has reneged on his promise and is attempting to block any amendments and stifle all opposition to extending the mis-named Patriot Act.

Reid’s complicated maneuvering will result in a cloture vote to amend the mis-named Patriot Act on to a small business bill (S. 990) tomorrow.

I need you to stand with me and keep fighting.

Can I count on you to:

• Call (202-224-4343) for Senator Rand Paul and say “THANK YOU.” Thank him for standing up for gun owners and fighting against the mis-named Patriot Act.
• Then, call Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid at (202) 224-3542 and give him heck. Tell him that gun owners demand an up or down vote on Rand Paul’s pro-gun amendment to the Patriot Act.

Brian Terry’s MURDER was supposed to give the gun-grabbers another statistic — “proving” the need for more funding and more anti-gun agents for the out-of-control Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).

And with any luck, they hoped, it would also allow anti-gun Attorney General Eric Holder to set the stage for a new, PERMANENT “Assault Weapons” Ban.

But that was BEFORE news broke that the BATFE had been sitting on its hands for years while it watched Mexican gangs use “straw purchasers” to buy firearms in the U.S. and then walk the guns over the border.

And now, thanks to “Project Gunrunner,” one of those firearms was likely used to MURDER Brian Terry!

That’s why it’s vital your Congressman and Senators fully investigate the BATFE’s “Project Gunwalker” — and stop any funding increases for this rogue agency.

The truth is, the BATFE has never been afraid to spill innocent Americans’ blood in their headlong rush for more money and more power.

But today, they’re asking Congress for 200 new agents and $54 MILLION in anti-gun slush funds to terrorize law-abiding Second Amendment supporters — even while BATFE agents are refusing to talk about “Project Gunrunner!”

The reason is simple. They’re flat-out terrified at just how high up in the Justice Department this scandal could go!

Well, I hope you agree it’s flat-out UNNACCEPTABLE for an over-funded, power-hungry and entirely unnecessary law enforcement agency to enable criminals to do their worst — just to grab more funding power and further their anti-gun agenda.

That’s why it’s vital you take these actions IMMEDIATELY.

First, please write your Congressman and Senators DEMANDING they fully investigate the BATFE’s “Project Gunwalker” — and stop any funding increases for this rogue agency.

ATF to Require Multiple Sales Reports for Sporting Rifles

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- The ATF is at it again and this time, it’s not just shotguns they’re after.

The new Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) “rule” would require gun stores to report to the federal government the names of people who purchase more than one rifle in a week.

This new reporting requirement is nothing less than firearm registration in all but name.

The new BATFE rule change has been in place since January. It was trumpeted as a supposed “solution” to the problem with Mexican gun runners on the Southern border, but common sense tells us otherwise.

The BATFE’s exact rule states that anyone who purchases more than one rifle that is semi-automatic, larger than .22 caliber, and capable of using detachable magazines within five business days of each other, must be reported.

Although the BATFE claims that this requirement only applies to states along the southern border, the actual published rule has no geographic limitation.

That means they’re tracking the sale of shotguns and rifles across the country.

The idea for BATFE’s new requirement came from billionaire-playboy Michael Bloomberg’s henchmen at Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG). MAIG has been pushing the Obama administration to do this since August of 2009.

Anti-gunner Bloomberg released a statement calling the new rule “…a powerful new tool to catch the straw purchasers and illegal traffickers who are supplying Mexico’s cartel killers.”

His statement is typical anti-gun misdirection. While the BATFE is regulating guns that Americans buy, their “Gunwalker” program is funneling guns into the hands of the drug cartels in Mexico!

Shortly after the rule came into effect, the U.S. House passed an amendment to block the BATFE’s new power grab. This common sense amendment passed overwhelmingly 277-149.

Legislation has also been introduced in the U.S. Senate which would echo the House vote in blocking the ATF’s power grab. Solid pro-gun Senators like Rand Paul (R-KY), Tom Coburn (R-OK), and David Vitter (R-LA) are already on board with the legislation.

I need you to be aware of what’s going on because the ATF is going to open up a comment period in the future for thoughts on long-gun reporting just like they did on the Shotgun Study last month.

And I know I can count on you to be ready when your voice is needed.

Please call your senator and urge them to stand up for gun owners by supporting S.570.

We can stop this ridiculous power grab by the ATF, but only if we make ourselves heard loudly.

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- Did you know the ATF is trying to re-define the law?

And they’ve got their anti-gun sights set on your SHOTGUN.

In January, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives released a document announcing a study that would dramatically tighten regulations on shotguns.

With the tacit approval of the Obama Administration, the ATF hopes to use bureaucratic rule changes to ban the importation and sale of certain shotguns based on their twisted view of the “sporting purposes” clause in the 1968 Gun Control Act.

There’s one major problem. As you know, the purpose of the Second Amendment isn’t to protect “sports.”

It’s to protect citizens – like you and me – from a tyrannical government.

This proposal by the ATF is an all-out flank attack on our right to keep and bear arms.

The ATF’s ridiculously anti-gun study suggests that certain, and in many cases very random, criteria would make a shotgun unable to be imported.

Those random criteria include:

• Folding, telescoping or collapsible stocks;
• Bayonet lugs;
• Flash suppressors;
• Magazines over 5 rounds, or a drum magazine;
• Integrated rail systems;
• Light enhancing devices;
• Excessive weight (greater than 10 pounds for a 12 gauge);
• Excessive bulk;
• Forward pistol grip.

You read that right. Excessive weight and bulk will get your shotgun banned. You and I both know, none of the items listed make a firearm more or less dangerous.

It is a list of completely arbitrary items that have more to do with appearance than anything substantial.

The ATF might as well say they don’t want anything “black” to be imported – it would be just as logical. But their blatant disregard for the truth doesn’t stop there.

The United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) and the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) might be interested to know that the ATF doesn’t consider their matches a “sport”…

But the ATF has made a mistake, and I need you to capitalize on it.

They have opened up a comment period – open until April 30 – by which the general public can voice their opinions on this “study.”

That means gun owners like you and I, simply MUST make our voices heard by the anti-gun bureaucrats in Washington.

They think that they quietly slip these regulations through without taxpayers and voters making a fuss.

Gun owners must let them know we’re watching their every move.

That’s why I need you to contact the ATF and tell them to keep their hands off your shotgun and to ditch their ridiculous, anti-gun study.

Over the next few days, I intend to urge National Association for Gun Rights’ members like you to flood the ATF with emails stating exactly how ridiculous their proposal is.

This ban is not about public safety.

It is nothing less than the Obama administrations latest attempt to use bureaucratic wrangling to trample over your Second Amendment rights.

It is another example of a power grab by an already out of control government agency.

Apparently it wasn’t enough for them to funnel firearms into Mexico.

Now they want to keep you from having a home defense shotgun.

I need you to contact the ATF TODAY and tell them to keep their hands off your shotgun and to ditch their ridiculous, anti-gun study.

Rocky Mountain Gun Owners

Colorado --(Ammoland.com)- Though not a surprise, yesterday the Senate State Affairs Committee voted 3-2 to kill HB1205, RMGO’s Constitutional Carry bill, which was carried by St. Rep. Chris Holbert and St. Sen. Greg Brophy.

The legislation would have made Colorado a “permit optional” state for concealed carry, joining Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming.

Despite overwhelming testimony that states with similar laws did not, in fact, see an increase in violence, Democrat Senators in the State Affairs Committee (Sens. Rollie Heath, Betty Boyd, and Bob Bacon) voted against the bill while GOP Sens. Kevin Grantham and Bill Cadman voted for the legislation.

Senator Greg Brophy told committee members that HB1205 would simply level the playing field for law-abiding citizen, but criminals really don’t care what the law says – and don’t seek permits in the first place.

RMGO Executive Director Dudley Brown said that domestic violence prevention groups should support Constitutional Carry rather than oppose it, since the permit process itself is intimidating to many females who don’t want to be on lists and don’t normally think of themselves as gun advocates but might need the means to self defense in volatile situations.

“Why should a woman who wants to defend herself from a stalker or violent ex-boyfriend be forced to acquire an expensive permit, just for the permission to protect herself?” said Brown.

Yuma County Sheriff Chad Day, testifying on behalf of himself and Weld County Sheriff John Cooke, said the Second Amendment is a right. “Causing people to jump through government hoops turns that right into a mere privilege.” Sheriff Day cited numerous statistics to show that more citizens carrying concealed is a good thing for public safety.

Of course, Sheriff Day wasn’t the only law enforcement to speak on the bill. Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle (representing “Republican-In-Name-Only” Arapahoe Sheriff Grayson Robinson and Adams County Sheriff Doug Darr) opposed the bill.

Lobbyist Anne Marie Jensen, who represented the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police but also normally works for Tom Mauser’s “Colorado Ceasefire Capitol Fund”, said “Sen. Brophy believes more guns will make citizens safer. Unfortunately, the Chiefs don’t agree.”

Those advocating for Constitutional Carry should take heart: it took 9 years to pass a “Shall Issue” law in Colorado, and this is a long-term fight. Just remember these votes in the 2012 elections.

Today, will you help me — and Iowa Gun Owners – pass Constitutional Carry in Iowa?

Iowa Gun Owners, our boots-on-the-ground allies in Iowa, have been battling for Constitutional Carry since 2008.

This year, Iowa Gun Owners has worked closely with State Senator Kent Sorenson (R-Indianola,) who introduced the Sorenson-Pearson Constitutional Carry Act.

With historic gains made by ostensibly pro-gun Republicans in the November election, the state legislature should be a fertile ground for pro-freedom legislation like Constitutional Carry.

While many in Republican leadership claim the mantle of “pro-gun” they’ve fallen short of backing up their election year rhetoric with legislative action.

Iowa Gun Owners has been pushing – hard — to get a Constitutional Carry through the State House and into the State Senate.

I’ve been on the phone with Aaron Dorr, director of Iowa Gun Owners, nearly every day discussing strategy for getting a vote.

While Republican leadership continues to promise a full floor vote on Constitutional Carry, they have yet to deliver. To many, that comes as no surprise, but it will spell defeat for any real concealed carry reform in Iowa.

Why would I write every gun owner in America for help on this issue?

First, Iowa is truly a pivotal state. Its early Straw Poll and Caucuses make it our nation’s most watched political barometer.

Second, rarely does the chance come to pass historic legislation like this. Every freedom lover in America should be excited about the possibility.

It’s not just about one more “Constitutional Carry” state, but rather it’s about Iowa becoming a bellwether for liberty in the very heart of our nation.

I often hear “the Second Amendment is my permit to carry”, and I couldn’t agree more. What, after all, is the right to “bear arms”, in a modern context, if it is not to carry concealed?

But those are just empty words if the law makes a mockery of the Constitution.

With that in mind, I encourage everyone who truly embraces the Second Amendment’s right to “bear arms” without infringement to jump on board and help out Iowa Gun Owners.

Seriously, it’s that important.

To carry the tools of self-defense in Alaska, Arizona, Vermont or Wyoming, you don’t have to undergo a background enema, be fingerprinted like a common criminal, pay for state-mandated firearms training or have your name and address end up on some list.

You don’t have to beg for your God-given rights. That’s what the Second Amendment REALLY means!

Unfortunately, some of the elitist gun owners in America — the head-honchos of the institutional gun lobby – have trouble understanding that. In many states, they even directly oppose Constitutional Carry.

Their opposition to freedom is nothing but a self-serving “I’ve got mine” attitude, seasoned with a dash of “not EVERYONE should be able to carry a gun.” That’s elitist to the core.

But let’s examine that attitude: it means they don’t really oppose gun control.

They just oppose gun control when it’s imposed on them. Give them their own little tin-pot dictatorship, and they’re happy to limit your freedom.

As you know, Constitutional Carry is a simple, straight forward idea. If passed, it simply permits anyone who is eligible to own a firearm to carry a firearm concealed without a permit.

This legislation would not get rid of the current permit system, but it would merely give gun owners another option for exercising their right to bear arms. For reciprocity between states, citizens might still want a permit, but that’s their choice under the Constitutional Carry system.

Constitutional Carry is currently law in Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and now Wyoming.

I like to say we’re simply abolishing the “coat tax.” In states where open carry is legal, you put your coat on, and you have to pay the permit “tax.”

Constitutional Carry would make that permit “tax” voluntary, since you could carry a concealed weapon without acquiring a permit.

Constitutional Carry Moving Forward Across USA

National Association for Gun Rights’ staff is actively working with grassroots gun rights groups across the country to secure passage of these important pieces of legislation.

As you know, Constitutional Carry is a simple, straight forward idea.

If passed, it simply permits anyone who is eligible to own a firearm to carry a firearm concealed without a permit.

State Representative Chris Holbert – a Constitutional Carry bill sponsor from Colorado – says we’re simply abolishing the “coat tax.” In states where open carry is legal, you put your coat on, and you have to pay the permit “tax.”

Wyoming
In Wyoming, the Jennings-Jaggi Constitutional Carry Bill was signed into law by Governor Matt Mead on March 2. The law will take effect on July 1, 2011.

National Association for Gun Rights’ staff worked extensively with Wyoming Gun Owners to ensure passage of the bill, including killing several attempts to poison the bill with anti-gun amendments.

Montana
HB-271, Representative Kerns’ Constitutional Carry Bill passed the State House 54-41 in late February and is now in the Montana State Senate.

Kerns’ Constitutional Carry Bill will be heard in the Montana Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday March 16 at 8:00am in Room 303.

Colorado
HB-1205, the Holbert-Brophy Constitutional Carry Bill, passed out of the State House on a 40-25 vote. The measure garnered the support of 7 Democrats. It faces an uphill battle in the State Senate, which is controlled by anti-gun Democrats.

Both Representative Holbert and Senator Greg Brophy are long-time supporters of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners and the National Association for Gun Rights.

New Hampshire
The National Association for Gun Rights has been working with the New Hampshire Firearms Coalition and HB-536 has been introduced in the New Hampshire legislature and is awaiting a hearing.

South Carolina
In South Carolina, the National Association for Gun Rights and GrassRoots GunRights South Carolina have been fighting attempts by anti-gun Republican Thad Viers to poison H. 3292 (Comprehensive Concealed Carry Reform).

National Association for Gun Rights’ members in South Carolina have been instrumental in keeping the heat on South Carolina legislators to adopt H. 3292 with GrassRoots GunRights South Carolina amendments.

Iowa
House Republicans in Iowa have bowed to pressure from Iowa Gun Owners and National Association for Gun Rights’ members in Iowa and have pledged to pass the Sorenson-Pearson Constitutional Carry bill this session.

Iowa Gun Owners has worked with us to expose backroom deals to kill Constitutional Carry. You can rest assured, we will continue to keep the pressure on House Republicans to pass Iowa Gun Owners’ real Constitutional Carry Bill. A committee hearing on the bill is expected early next week.

It’s truly an exciting time for gun rights at the state level.

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- By now it should not be news to you that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) is completely out of control.

Last week I told you about their “Project Gunwalker” program, where the BATFE has been knowingly funneling American guns into Mexico.

To make matters worse, one of those guns was used by a Mexican drug runner to kill a United States Border Patrol Agent.

You read that correctly…

The BATFE’s negligence and their obsession with pursuing their anti-gun political agenda cost the life of an American law enforcement officer. It’s simply outrageous.

On top of it all, the arch gun-hater himself, President Obama, has nominated a notoriously anti-gun agent to be head of the out of control BATFE.

That’s right. An anti-gun zealot is about to be put in charge of the very agency assigned to curtail your firearms freedoms. And Capitol Hill sources tell me the Obamacrats are pulling out all the stops to ram his confirmation through.

Make no mistake, Andrew Traver is an enemy of liberty and an enemy of gun owners like you and me.

He is:

• …opposed to private firearm sales.
• …opposed to civilian ownership of semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.
• …in favor of banning all gun shows.
• …and he even wants the Center for Disease Control to have oversight of the firearms industry!

This is the man that Obama wants to run the most anti-gun federal agency in existence. A man that the Brady Campaign “applauded” for his work on disarming citizens.

Despite being rebuked by the American people on election day, Obama continues to push his anti-gun agenda.

It’s important for Washington to know how you feel about this.
I urge to you to contact both your U.S. Senators and urge them to oppose the nomination of Andrew Traver to head the BATFE.

Andrew Traver is a man who is in favor of Chicago’s draconian and oppressive gun laws, the same laws the Supreme Court ruled against (and where my brief was quoted) in the McDonald case. Do you want those laws for your city? How about for your state?

Or, worse yet, your country?

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that Traver won’t try to enact the same jack-booted thug tactics nationwide that he did with Chicago.

Please give a few minutes of your time to contact both your U.S. Senators at and urge them to oppose the nomination of Andrew Traver to head the BATFE.

Gun owners like you and me cannot stand by and let them think that the mob-style politics of Chicago work for the rest of your country. Your freedoms are worth a few phone calls.

Tell your Senator’s that the nomination of anti-gun zealots is unacceptable. Entrusting henchmen with large government agencies while no one is looking is what dictators do.

Don’t let a stooge of the Brady Campaign run the most anti-gun and out of control government agency!

You know that Obama would love to appease his pals in the anti-gun lobby. By nominating Andrew Traver, he can make them happy without endangering his shrinking Congressional cabal.

Please contact both your U.S. Senators and urge them to oppose the nomination of Andrew Traver to head the BATFE.

The simple fact is, with a president like the one we have now, we have to be extremely vigilant. He is going to continue to accomplish as much of his extreme agenda behind the scenes as he can. And when he acts, if we don’t call him out, it may end up being too late.

I don’t want that.

Which is why it is incredibly important for you to be as motivated as I am to shine a light on people like Obama and Traver as they attempt to force their liberal, freedom-hating agenda on the American people.

But I can’t do it alone.

I need you to back me up on this one.
