Back then the pocket pistol was likely a cheesy knock off of the Philadelphia deringer, which was designed by Henry Deringer and produced from 1852 to 1868. No price change for the caliber differences even though the magazines are more expensive. We’ll also be able to provide the GP6 & GP6-C with a 5″ barrel. We’re taking orders for them all now, too.

As MUST happen when we start adding new firearms to the product line, something has to go to make room for them. As you’re aware, the “TruSight” has already bitten the dust! Even though we recently gotten some excellent press coverage on the Rogue, we intend to build only one more run of approximately 20 pieces. If this one “trips yer trigger”, you need to get your order entered soon. Further candidates (no decision ‘til the end of the year) are those perennially on the list, the 6 inch Trojan and the Lawman. Because we’ve got 8-12 potential new products, we’ve got to make some decisions soon. I think the new models will intrigue you greatly but we’ll hold those for the “SHOT Show Surprise”.

The owners’ manual for the “Sporting” and “Tactical” rifles is on the website. Those items are still selling very well. Well enough that we’re able to reduce the price on both. Check with your contact here, or your Distributor, for the new price structure.

Increased foreign manufacturing costs and the weakening U.S. $ will necessitate a minor price increase on our imported products, the GP6, GP6-C, and the Spartan. These won’t happen all at once but will phase in as contracts are renewed. We’ll probably be increasing prices on the LS9 and on select 1911 and 2011 parts, also, as of January 1, 2010. Old prices are good until we publish a price list dated 1/1/10.

As they say on late night TV, “back by popular demand”, you’ll start seeing the previously discontinued “2011″ single stack polymer grip making a comeback. This is proving necessary due to the number of folks that want to use our (and other manufacturers) .22LR top ends and the number of countries and states that have 10 round only laws.

We still can’t keep up with the demand for the 1911 & 2011 .22LR conversion kits but we’re pushin’ as hard as we can. Just as a preliminary forecast, it looks like our total product output will be up a few points over 30% by the end of this year.

Most people are unsure exactly what comprises a Scout rifle.

For the most part, the Scout rifle was meant to be the ultimate general purpose rifle.

It needed to be able to take most game animals (up to 400 kg), at ranges up to 300 meters (330 yards), it needed to be less than 1 meter in length (39″), and weigh less than 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds). Hence, the Steyr Scout .308 was born in 1998.

Some of the other features that distinguish the Steyr Scout is a two stage magazine, spare magazine compartment in the stock, integrated bi-pod, emergency flip up sights, and the extreme accuracy of its cold hammer forged barrel.

Originally Steyr launched a Jeff Cooper package Scout that came complete with a Leupold 2.5 forward mounted optic. Col. Cooper felt this package was the absolute best for quick acquisition of targets.

Morgan, Utah --(AmmoLand.com)- Winchester Repeating Arms is excited to announce the return of the Model 1894 lever action rifle to its line of firearms for 2010.

This reintroduction of the most popular rifle in history will be offered in two Limited Edition models that will commemorate the 200th anniversary of Oliver F. Winchester’s birth in New England in 1810. A Model 1894 Custom Grade and Model 1894 High Grade will be offered in 30-30 Winchester caliber.

The Model 1894 began at the workbench of John M. Browning, being the first sporting rifle to use smokeless powder. It has been said that the Model 1894 has taken more deer than any other rifle in the world, and with over six million sold, has become by far, the most popular rifle in history. What better way to welcome back the timeless Winchester® Model 1894 than with a tribute to Oliver F. Winchester.

Model 1894 Custom Grade
Only 500 Custom Grade rifles in sets with the High Grade model will be offered. This rifle will have an exquisite 24″ half-round, half-round octagon deeply blued barrel. A buckhorn rear sight is matched with a Marble’s® gold bead front sight. The Custom Grade model has Grade IV/V walnut with a rich, high gloss finish. Deep scroll engraving covers both sides of the blued receiver. An early Winchester Repeating Arms crest graces the left side of the receiver, with the right side bearing the words, “Two Hundred Years, Oliver F. Winchester,” and the dates “1810 – 2010″, in gold. The barrel is deeply polished, with the signature of Oliver F. Winchester in gold on the top of the bolt. “One of Five Hundred” is inscribed in gold on the barrel of the Custom Grade rifle.

Model 1894 High Grade
The Winchester Model 1894 High Grade also honors and commemorates the 200th anniversary of Oliver Fisher Winchester’s birth. This model is deeply embellished with delicate scroll work, with Oliver F. Winchester’s signature in gold on top of the bolt. The left side of the receiver bears an early Winchester Repeating Arms crest. On the right side are the words, “Two Hundred Years, Oliver F. Winchester,” and the dates, “1810-2010.” The fancy Grade II/III walnut stock is enhanced with a high gloss finish and is delicately checkered, complementing the fine embellishments on the silver nitride receiver. The High Grade model is also chambered in the timeless 30-30 Winchester caliber with a deeply blued half-round, half octagon barrel. A buckhorn rear sight is fitted with a Marble’s gold bead front sight. 500 of the High Grade model will be sold as a set with the Custom Grade. The remaining limited quantities will be sold individually.

Delivery of these two commemorative rifles will begin starting in the 2nd quarter of 2010. Both models have 8 round magazine capacity, 42″ overall length, 10″ rate of twist with average weight at 8 lbs. The Model 1894 Custom Grade rifle has a Suggested Retail of $1,959.00. The Model 1984 High Grade rifle Suggested Retail is $1,469.00.

Return of the Winchester Model 94 Rifle

Michigan Coalition For Responsible Gun Owners

Q: Is it true that a church or other place of worship in Michigan is not considered to be a place on the so-called “Pistol Free Zones” list when it is not being used for active church purposes?

A: No. It is not true. MCL 28.425o states that the list of places where your CPL does not apply includes: “(e) Any property or facility owned or operated by a church, synagogue, mosque, temple, or other place of worship, unless the presiding official or officials of the church, synagogue, mosque, temple, or other place of worship permit the carrying of concealed pistol on that property or facility.” This would seem to include church camps, softball fields etc. regardless of whether there are religious or secular activities (or no activities) being carried on.

This law also raises another interesting question: Who is the presiding official? In my practice, I have had churches as clients and I can tell you that it is not always clear what individual or body within the church has the authority to grant the kind of permission mentioned above. Churches have various, differing corporate structures. In one case, I worked with a church that had two boards: spiritual and temporal. The spiritual board was tasked with hiring and firing the pastor and other religious matters. The temporal board was tasked with dealing with financial and legal issues.

In that particular church, only the temporal board would have the authority to grant permission to carry a concealed pistol on church property. In other churches, the pastor may have the authority to grant such permission. So, be sure that you are dealing the the appropriate church official when obtaining permission to carry concealed on church premises.

Note also that the statute does not say that the permission must be in writing. However, it may be considered a prudent step to ask for a signed letter on church letterhead memorializing the grant of permission.

I have had contact with churches that have a group of volunteers with CPLs (Concealed Pistol Licenses) who are tasked with carrying their pistols at services on a weekly basis, in much the same way that other lay volunteers set up schedules for their duties. Some others take the position that guns are not welcome on their property. As private property owners, churches are free to make this decision and anyone who carries in violation of such a church policy would be in violation of MCL 28.425o and have the status of trespasser.

In 2008, Beretta U.S.A. had five employees dedicated to direct sales to law enforcement agencies, dealers and distributors. With its reorganized structure, the number of sales personnel calling on law enforcement customers has increased to thirty.

Newtown, CT --(AmmoLand.com)- Background checks on the sale of firearms were up 12.4 percent in September, according to data released by the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

A total of 1,093,230 checks were reported for the month, up from 973,003 in September 2008.

FBI background checks are required under federal law for all individuals purchasing either newly manufactured or used firearms from federally licensed retailers.

As such, the checks serve as a gauge of sales but do not reflect the actual number of firearms produced or sold.

The increase coincides with a rise in excise taxes reported by firearms and ammunition manufacturers, another key economic indicator for the firearms industry.

Combining proven technology with familiar operating features, the PK380 is a versatile firearm suitable for personal protection or recreational shooting, and is available in four unique models.

• · PK380 First Edition Model – The First Edition Model is available as a limited series of 2,000 units (serial numbers 1 – 2,000) and
  will be manufactured with the “First Edition” marking on the left side of the slide. Each First Edition Model will be shipped with
  a nylon holster, two magazines and is complete with a matte black finish to help reduce glare.
• · Two-Tone Model – The new two-tone model is standard with a nickel-plated slide, black frame and is shipped with one magazine.
• · Standard Black Model – The Walther PK380 is also available as a standard black model with a matte black slide and frame.
• · PK380 Set – The black PK380 set comes complete with a rail-mounted laser.

All four models, with the exception of the First Edition, are shipped with one magazine, and share common features including an 8+1 magazine capacity, polymer grip along with a steel frame, slide and barrel. The PK380 is manufactured with a 3.66-inch barrel that contributes to an overall length of 6.5 inches. Additionally, all four models are standard with a Picatinny-style accessory rail for optional lights and lasers, external hammer, ambidextrous magazine release and an ambidextrous manual safety.

To aid in precise shot placement, the PK380 features a solid steel white dot front sight and a drift-adjustable steel two-dot rear sight. The PK380 has an unloaded weight of 19.4 ounces and a narrow width of 1.2 inches. All four models of the Walther PK380 are manufactured in Germany.

Details
This is a full size clone of the standard 1911 .45 ACP. The weight is less than the original 1911 because both the slide and the frame are constructed of aluminum alloy. The lighter slide in particular also allows for reliable functioning it has much less mass for the recoil action of the diminutive .22LR round to function.

The internal components of the 1911-22 are all steel of course. The barrel is fixed to the frame to provide better accuracy. The fixed barrel also eliminates some not necessary parts found in the original .45 which was designed for full disassembly due to battlefield conditions.

Finish on the slide and frame is a tough flat black oxide finish. MKS Supply is also going to make available models with olive drab and desert tan powder coated slides.

The SOCOM EXTREME was created for an all new level in long distance air gun shooting and hunting.

Gamo took their famous 1250 powerplant and re-tuned the beast to deliver a stunning velocity of over 1650 fps using the new PBA Platinum .177 ammo. The powerplant was matched to a precision steel, composite jacketed bull barrel which also helps reduce the larger cocking force. The precision barreled action is mated to a newly designed tactical, light weight composite stock. Traditions Introduces The New Vortek Muzzleloader Rifle

SEOUL, Korea –-(AmmoLand.com)- South Korea’s defense ministry said Wednesday it plans to raise tens of millions of dollars by selling more than 100,000 aging US-supplied rifles to gun enthusiasts in the United States.

Washington has approved South Korea’s plan to sell about 86,000 M1 Garand rifles and 22,000 M1 carbine rifles, together valued at 108 million dollars, the ministry said.

The rifles used during the Korean and Vietnam wars have been kept at military warehouses, it said.

“The US government recently approved our plan to sell old M1 and carbine rifles, which were given to our soldiers as part of a US aid program,” a ministry spokesman told AFP.

The rifles are occasionally used by reserve forces for drills, he said without giving details.

The military will dispose of all its M1s but will keep about 640,000 carbines for reserve forces, the Chosun Ilbo newspaper said.

“Importers are very interested in them as many Americans want to buy them as curios for their collections,” an unidentified military official was quoted as saying.

M1s were made first in 1926 and used in World War II and the Vietnam War. The carbines were first produced in 1941 and used during the 1950-1953 Korean War.

Because it utilizes the unique rotary magazine supplied with the Ruger 10/22, the SR-22 Rifle offers the same gold standard for reliability in autoloading rimfire rifles. Like the 10/22, the AR-style SR-22 Rifle also has an extensive array of accessories available, allowing shooters to select a custom configuration that best suits their tastes and needs.

The SR-22 Rifle uses a standard 10/22 action inside a top-quality, all-aluminum chassis that faithfully replicates the AR-platform dimensions between the sighting plane, buttstock height, and grip. The SR-22 Rifle provides a Picatinny rail optic mount, and includes a six-position, telescoping M4-style buttstock (on a Mil-Spec diameter tube), plus a Hogue® Monogrip® pistol grip. Rock Island Auction Company’s September Auction soared to nearly $8 million in sales! The auction contained many American treasures including several pieces from the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum plus Winchesters, Colts, military items from the Civil War through WWII and sporting arms.

Strong bidding participation drove sales to nearly $8 million as firearms collectors took the opportunity to bid on and own the many museum quality items in this sale. As the value of firearms continue to hold true not only are buyers adding to their collections but ultimately investing in their future.

Once again strong prices were obtained for collectable firearms during a faltering economy with the high bid of $425,500 winning an extraordinary factory engraved, digital “1 of 1000” Winchester model 1873.

This 3 day sale proved highly successful with a 98% sell through rate, pleasing both buyers and sellers.

Several pieces of history were offered, among them were a rare historic and deluxe Tiffany & Co. Smith & Wesson .32 double action 4th model revolver exhibited by the factory at the 1893 “World’s Columbian Exposition” in Chicago commanded a price of $103,500. Another centerpiece of this auction was a magnificent pair of highly embellished exhibition quality Adolph Frohn, Suhl Germany pistols that brought a high bid of $172,500. A magnificent presentation pair of exhibition grade, silver mounted, gold inlaid flintlock T. Dobson pistols made for the Sultan of Turkey sold for $69,000.

An American icon and investing favorite, over 500 Winchesters were offered in the September sell. Lot 1701, a very fine special order Winchester model 1876 deluxe lever action rifle sold for $23,000 while an outstanding Winchester model 1866 lever action rifle hammered above estimate at $25,875. A rare deluxe factory engraved New Haven Arms Co., Volcanic lever action no. 2 navy pistol with ivory grips earned $48,875.

Collectors with interest in the West and cowboy legend had a plethora of items to choose from. This auction offered firearms from the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans museum. The Cowboy star’s fame drove prices, most of the items reaching above the high estimate. Both of the factory engraved Winchester model 21’s presented to Roy Rogers sold within estimate at $46,000 and $43,125. Above estimate prices were attained on a Cole Agee engraved Colt SAA documented as being Roy Rogers “Holster Gun” ($23,000) and an elaborate custom relief engraved and gold-plated Colt SAA ($12,650). A documented historical Audie Murphy presentation to Roy Rogers Colt pre-war/post-war single action army revolver with factory letter garnered a price of $19,550.

The rare and quality derringers was led by a highly embellished exhibition quality factory cased gold inlaid Gaulois palm pistol ($17,250) followed by a factory engraved Southerner Derringer with ivory grips ($13,800). Another amazing piece from this collection was a magnificent relief silver eagle hilted Tiffany made sword from famous Flayderman / Medicus collection realizing $23,000.

Always a collecting desire, the 300 plus Colts in this auction brought strong bids leading with an above estimate bid of $28,750 for a cased custom engraved gold and silver inlaid Colt deluxe SAA by master engravers R.J. Smith & Siegfried Rentzchke. An exceptional black powder Colt frontier six shooter single action etched barrel revolver brought $40,250 and an outstanding Hartley & Graham engraved black powder Colt SAA with factory letter sold for $23,000.

The September auction was a perfect time for many sporting enthusiasts to expand their collection before the hunting season. The sporting arms in this auction featured the E. Warner Bacon Collection. A successful bid of $25,875 took home a scarce engraved and gold inlaid Ithaca Flues model Sousa grade double barrel 16 gauge shotgun with extra barrel. A desirable Winchester model 12 28 gauge skeet grade takedown slide action shotgun garnered $9,200, almost twice the low estimate! An exceptional Holland & Holland .375 H&H Magnum bolt action sporting rifle with scope hammered at $12,650.

The collection of Winchester Model 70’s drew bidding interest to a total of over $300,000. Headlining was an exceptional Pre-64 Winchester transition model 70 bolt action carbine in rare and desirable .35 Remington caliber with factory box (sold $20,700) followed closely by an outstanding Pre-64 transition Winchester model 70 super grade bolt action rifle in rare 250-3000 Savage caliber with factory box (sold $14,950).

Of the over 500 military items in this auction the lugers did exceptionally well. Both a 1899 style Swiss test luger serial number “20″ and an original DWM model 1902 luger carbine with matching stock sold above estimate for $48,875 & $34,500 respectively. Interest was also high in a rare Nazi presentation Walther PPK pistol with NSDAP shooting prize slide inscription, party leader grips and capture documents which secured a $28,750 bid.

Rock Island Auction ventured out of its normal arena of expertise and offered many Victorian era pieces including gambling items, slot machines, vintage advertising signs, ivory canes, spurs, back bar bottles and more. Of the slot machines a scarce character manufacturing company/ mills one arm bandit carved figure nickel slot machine stole the show selling for $7,475. A metal Oshkosh Brewing advertising sign reached $3,737.

As a whole the September auction was a success, with a high sell through rate and sales reaching nearly $8 million. This auction had something for every level of collecting with interested buyers setting the auction prices not a house reserve. The result was satisfied buyers and sellers alike, a valuable goal for any auction house.

Marlin Proudly Offers Limited Deluxe Lever-Action Rifles

North Haven, CT –-(AmmoLand.com)- Marlin Firearms is pleased to announce the production of two Deluxe lever-action rifles based on the popular 1894™ and 336™ models, available for a limited time through select Marlin dealers.

These Deluxe rifles feature Number 1 Grade American Black Walnut stocks and fore-ends that have 30 to 50 percent figure on each side; polished deep blue metal finish; and are packaged in a padded, molded case with a decorative color sleeve depicting a fall hunting scene.

Hand-assembled and tuned by one of our senior craftsmen, these limited production Model 1894 and 336 rifles have unique serial numbers and a certificate of authenticity accompanies each rifle.

The Marlin 1894 has been favored by generations of American hunters for its infallible reliability and accuracy. This elegant rifle in 44 Magnum features a 20″ barrel with Ballard-type rifling, a straight grip stock with cut checkering and a rubber recoil pad.

Sights include an adjustable semi-buckhorn folding rear and a ramp front sight with brass bead and Wide-Scan™ hood. The solid-top receiver is tapped for a scope mount, and the rifle comes complete with an offset hammer spur for scope use.

Marlin’s 336 rifle, known for its rugged styling, pinpoint accuracy, and incredible dependability, features a pistol grip stock with classic cut checkering, a hammer block safety and a flat, solid-top receiver which is drilled and tapped for mounting Optics. Chambered in 30/30 Win, the 336 features a 20” barrel with a semi-buckhorn folding rear sight and ramp front sight with a brass bead and Wide-Scan hood.
