Dayton, OH --(AmmoLand.com)- Chiappa Firearms debuts a new production revolver and concept at the MKS Supply 2010 SHOT Show display (booth 15549).

Called the Rhino (sort of resembles one too) you will first notice that the barrel is actually at the bottom of the cylinder. The gun is designed to fire from the bottom chamber of the cylinder (6:00 position not 12:00 as with other revolvers).

The new design resulted in improvements of the internal mechanisms over conventional revolver designs yielding up incredible reliability, a super-smooth action and improved safety.

Function over form!

The Rhino’s low barrel design ergonomically shifts recoil energy into the center of the palm of the hand and in line with the forearm thus greatly reducing the effects of felt recoil. Traditional revolver design (semi-autos too) place the barrel above the hand.

When the gun is fired the leverage applied by that design forces the recoil into the web area of the hand between the thumb and trigger finger causing significant muzzle snap. Not the Rhino! Due to this new design a shooter can now fire very fast and accurate repeat shots.

The Rhino is designed reduce its carry profile. This design is even carried into the hexagonal shaped cylinder making for a flatter profile when carried (especially handy for legal concealed carry).

The Rhino looks different, so what’s the deal? The looks are the direct result of the innovative improvements. Then again who would have thought a few years ago that fiberglass stocks (in color and with patterns) would one day be routinely accepted on traditional wood sporting rifles or that pink revolvers would be a rage?

Additional background: It all began in 2000. First, the full history of this Italian designed firearm is far too extensive for this press release, but a few facts may help you. The Rhino is NOT the semi-automatic revolver referred to as the Mateba (Accurately written as Ma.te.ba.). The Ma.te.ba. and the Rhino are both designed by Emilo Ghisoni which may explain why the guns look similar. Mr. Ghisoni and his friend and financial supporter Antonio Gudazzo completed the project.

When Mr. Ghisoni passed away in April 2008 Mr. Cudazzo then took the gun design to Mr. Reno (no kidding) Chiappa, proprietor of the Chiappa Group (Italy) of which Chiappa Firearms is a subsidiary.

Mr. Chiappa then contacted Ron Norton of Chiappa Firearms, Ltd. (a subsidiary responsible for the developing of Chiappa products in North America) and the Rhino revolver finally begun production in 2009. The result is the Rhino, a different looking highly-functional, ultra-smooth action revolver with a purpose engineered recoil controlling ergonomic design.

“This will end up being the largest militaria auction to come to market in the last five years, in terms of pure quality,” said Chris Roberts of SoldUSA.com. “We’ve got Civil War, World War I, Japanese, German and U.S. World War II – just a host of items that would be fine additions to anyone’s collection. Mr. Roberts said that while the market overall for such items is generally soft, the recession hasn’t seemed to affect the online auction community. “People don’t have to travel to bid on quality items anymore,” he remarked. “They can bid from the comfort of their homes. Plus it’s great knowing that every item in this auction is guaranteed.” He added that phone and absentee bids are also accepted.

Several lots have already sparked keen bidder interest. One is an exceedingly rare group of three distinguished awards given to World War I German ace Adolf Ritter von Tutschek – his original named and engraved Pour Le Merit “Blue Max” award, in its original case; his cased silver Iron Cross medal, engraved with his name on the reverse; and his engraved cut-out pilot’s badge in a black leatherette box.

This rare, one-of-a-kind offering has great historical value in aviation history and carries a pre-sale estimate of $30,000-$65,000. Von Tutschek was a German soldier turned fighter pilot who racked up 27 air victories during World War I before being shot down and killed in action on March 15, 1918. His last fighter plane was a Fokker D-1 tri-plane, painted green. The ace flew with Jagdgeschwader 2.

Von Tutschek’s “Blue Max” medal is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece in excellent condition. It is engraved on the sides of the Maltese cross with “Enas Lt. A. von Tutschek 3-18-17,” with full neck ribbon. The silver Iron Cross has a nice silver age patina and is engraved on the reverse. The cut-out pilot’s badge and case are in great condition. It is engraved “Lt. Ritter A. von Tutschek, 3 August 1917.”

Another lot already wowing bidders is a Colt third model shoulder stock provision Dragoon pistol, made in 1858 and an extremely rare variation. The weapon has all the correct characteristics of a third model Dragoon, including the Colt patented detachable stock hardware with two extra lug screws in the frame. It’s marked “Col. Colt London” on the barrel; only a handful of these are known to exist.

The gun also features a 7 ½-inch barrel with correct two-leaf sight, added by Colt only for shoulder stock models. The cylinder retains over 50% of its original scene, with the rarer of the two markings (“Model U.S.M.R. 17482 Colt’s Patent”). Every screw and inch of the pistol has been inspected and deemed correct. The stocks are original, with the left chip having a slight chip to the toe.

The bore of the gun is in fair condition, with moderate-to-heavy frosting, but it does retain good overall firing. The serial numbers all match and the pistol functions well in dry operations. It has an overall plum finish with some light silvering to the high edges. “This is am extremely rare Dragoon that would be a highlight of any collection.” The pistol is carrying a pre-sale estimate of $4,500-$16,000.

Also, a wonderful and highly sought after “classic combination” poster from Winchester – a one-of-a-kind image painted by an unknown artist around 1890 and depicting two hunting dogs looking alert and ready – is being offered, with a pre-sale estimate of $2,500-$10,000. The poster measures 20 inches by 40 inches and was made specially for Winchester, perhaps as a display piece for a fair or convention.

The poster has no bands and does show some light wrinkling and edge wear overall. But the colors are rich and vibrant, with just a little bit of soiling. It has undergone not a bit of restoration, and the piece is the only known example on existence. “This poster is extremely rare and has never come to market,” observed Mr. Roberts. “It will garner a lot of attention in the auction, so collectors, look close.”

The sale will also feature a fantastic Third Reich badge collection, with some of the rarest militaria items ever offered at auction. Rock Island Auction Company - -(AmmoLand.com)- This Colt 1851, Fourth Model, Navy Revolver with four screw frame and iron backstrap was manufactured in 1862. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with Colt’s New York address. “COLTS/PATENT” is stamped in two lines on the left side of the frame.

The full serial number, “128105″ is visible on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and backstrap. The partial serial number, “8105″ is located on the cylinder and the loading lever. The third pattern, attachable, canteen stock has a pewter body with cast brass yoke. A brass canteen cap screws in the hole on the edge of the stock comb and is retained by a brass chain attached to the upper stock yoke.

The stock does not have any serial number or markings. Colt manufactured attachable canteen/stocks in very limited numbers for the Model 1848 Dragoon, Model 1851 Navy, Model 1860 Army and Model 1861 Navy revolvers. Documents that accompany the revolver indicate that the attachable canteen stocks were received by future Confederate President Jefferson Davis when he served as the U.S. Secretary of War.

Pewter canteen stocks similar to this example have been identified by collectors but are extremely rare.

Condition:
Fine. The revolver retains about 20% of the original blue finish and approximately 30% of the casehardened finish. The barrel, frame and cylinder have scattered pitting and moderate age discoloration.

Markings are clear and strong. Approximately 40% of the cylinder scene is visible. Traces of the silver-plated finish are visible on the trigger guard. The grip has seven notches carved in the right heel, otherwise retains approximately 60% of the “piano” finish. The finish on the upper portions of the grip is heavily scratched from contact with the stock yokes.

The action is tight and functions well. The stock is in very fine condition; the pewter body has an even gray finish and the brass yoke has an even age patina. This is a very rare, attachable third model canteen stock that may be a patent model or experimental piece.

This is a solid Civil War period Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver with four screw frame with a truly unique, possibly one-of-a-kind prototype pewter attachable canteen stock that would be a key piece in any advanced percussion Colt collection. ( See RIA Auction for Exact Condition Details)

Colt Navy Revolver with Rare Prototype Canteen Stock

USCCA - -(AmmoLand.com)- Maybe you own a cool AR-15 variant based on Eugene Stoner’s original design. Stoner also had his fingers in another design, that of the AR-7. Henry Repeating Arms owns the rights to make this neat little survival rifle that started out at Armalite just like the AR-15 did.

This little gem of a rifle breaks down into components that fit neatly inside compartments built into the buttstock. It comes with two 8 round magazines and is the perfect backpack rifle for those who just want to have something to harvest small game in an emergency situation.

No it’s not a bear gun, but it will make it much easier for an injured or lost person in the woods to be able to harvest an emergency food source. It may even deter some bigger animals that are getting too nosey about you being lost and/or injured in the woods. And for packing a gun in a Bug Out Bag, this one won’t take up much space or add much weight. (Always remember to securely stow Bug Out Bags that contain firearms).

Another plus for this little rifle is that it is just plain fun! It’s cool for the youngsters, and it fits them too. It can be stowed just about anywhere, and when properly broken down it is waterproof. Henry Repeating Arms makes them in black (as shown here), silver, and camouflage.

The AR-7 saw military service as a pilot or crew survival rifle from about 1959 til now. It has been made by different manufacturers who each had their own ideas for some subtle changes. Though it could be used as a last resort firearm for defensive purposes, the .22 Long Rifle caliber is much more suited for harvesting small game. That’s not to say that the caliber is incapable of killing a human being. Far from it actually. My dad used to slaughter 1500-pound bulls with a shot behind the ear from a pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle. Yes, he had the muzzle right up to the skull with the little .22 Long Rifle revolver, but it worked just fine.

At two and one half pounds, this version of a survival rifle can be packed pretty much under any parameters of gear weight and space requirements for outdoor adventures. Being that the rifle breaks down into parts that can be stowed in the waterproof buttstock, there isn’t a problem of trying to locate individual components when needing to put the gun together in a hurry. Everything is in the buttstock. No separate, uncased components when the gun is broken done as may be the case with other rifles of this class.

The only thing that could possibly be lost is the bolt handle that could possibly fall out before the rifle is put together. Once the barrel is screwed into the receiver, the bolt handle cannot fall out. Without the barrel in place, the bolt can move far enough forward that the small bolt handle could slip out. Even if it did, a round could be chambered with an improvised handle if, by chance, the bolt handle did fall out and was lost. Not a big deal at all, and just confirmation that we all need to have training and experience with every tool that we may have to use. And training begins with an owner’s manual and some practice.

I liked the black buttstock version of the Henry Survival rifle. All of the other components were black coated Teflon with the magazines finished in what appears to be bluing that is a deep black color. The camo may be great for the woods in the northeast where I live, and the silver may be good for its higher visibility under other circumstances. But I like the black one that doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb under many more circumstances and scenarios whereas the silver or camo versions might. Owner’s choice though, and we have three of them.

The magazines are easy to load, and they can be stowed loaded in the buttstock. The barrel and receiver are Teflon coated, giving them a nice dull black finish. Overall the gun is 35 inches long when put together, and only 16 1/2 inches broken down with parts stowed in the ABS buttstock.

The three main parts were put together in a flash and very easily without the need of any tools other than a human hand. Pop the flexible buttstock pad off of the back, pull out the receiver and barrel, screw the receiver into the front of the buttstock with the wing nut that cannot fall out, push the barrel into place, screw the barrel nut down tight, and it is ready to go.

The barrel is steel covered in Teflon coated ABS. This keeps the overall weight manageable, and is appropriate to the intended use of this firearm. Don’t think that the barrel is a liability in the least for it is capable of handling tens of thousands of rounds over the life of the weapon. The front sight on the barrel is a blade sight.

With both the barrel and the receiver being Teflon coated, the little Survival Rifle is incredibly weather resistant. Clean and oil this rifle properly, and there won’t be a worry about any rusting of the components while they are stowed in the buttstock. And the Teflon is great to keep the gun working flawlessly under survival conditions when it is put together for use.

With a range of 100 meters (109.36 yards) and the intended purpose of the rifle, the rib to mount a scope on the top of the receiver (as shown above) may not be used much. However it is there for the real enthusiast of this little rifle who wants to use it more for fun than survival. I suppose that if there is any problem with this rifle, it is that it will be left put together and shot at every opportunity instead of being put away in a Bug Out Bag. That’s okay. They aren’t that expensive so buy two of them. At a manufacturers suggested price (MSRP) of $245.00 for black or silver, and $310.00 for camo, this means that they should be found for quite a bit less in the better gun stores. I’ve found that some MSRP’s are high as compared to the street price of many products, especially guns.

I can load standard or high velocity rounds in the Henry Survival Rifle, but I prefer Federal’s Gold Medal Target ammo. At 1250 feet per second velocity, I don’t expect any issues with the gun’s action cycling. To ensure reliability of the action, I wouldn’t choose to shoot subsonic .22’s since they just don’t have the oomph needed to reliably cycle the action.

Using Federal’s Gold Medal Target loads and Sentry Solutions lubrication products on this rifle, I don’t expect any reliability issues. That’s what we are going to find out next week when I share the results of my range time with this remake of the AR-7 by Henry Repeating Arms. From the classic Golden Boy line to the lever actions, Big Boys, or Acu-Bolt, Henry Repeating Arms has a fine line of U.S. made rifles. Not just put together in the U.S., but all of the parts are made here in America.

In fact the president of Henry Repeating Arms, Anthony Imperato, promises that, “Henry rifles will only be made in America, or they won’t be made at all.” Benjamin Tyler Henry created the design for the first decent lever-action rifle. Abe Lincoln owned one. There are even photos of him holding his Henry rifle.

Now the Henry name and legacy is in the hands of Anthony Imperato. In communication with the man, I have found him to be a man of his word. He has gone way above my expectations of any manufacturer that I approach about doing a product review. I suppose this is why the reputation of Henry Repeating Arms is held in such high esteem among their customers. Plus with their headquarters being in Bayonne, New Jersey, any of us could look him up if he gave us any trouble! Just kidding folks.

Seriously though, you can’t go wrong with owning any Henry rifle. In fact I hope that I do something worthy enough one day to have someone get me a personally engraved .30 .30. Yep, you heard right. Rock Island Auction Company - -(AmmoLand.com)- Colt factory letter dated January 25, 1999 confirms configuration and shipment to Pacific Hardware and Steel Company, San Francisco, California on March 22, 1906, the year of the San Francisco earthquake tragedy!

The features of this Colt are as follows: Blade front sight and frame notch rear sight. Two line block letter address on top of the barrel “(BISLEY MODEL) 38 W.C.F.” on the left side of the barrel and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt.

The frame and hammer are casehardened and the remaining metal surfaces are blue. Wide low hammer spur and wide trigger with characteristic “humpback” grip. Matching serial number on frame, trigger guard and backstrap and the loading gate is marked with the assembly number “2898″. The left front of the trigger guard is marked with the Colt triangle “VP” proof and the left rear is marked with the number “5″. Fitted with two piece checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the tops.

Complete with the original maroon hinged lid box numbered to the gun with Bisley picture label and correct factory end labels. Provenance: George S. Lewis Jr. Collection.

Condition:
Excellent. The revolver retains approximately 98% plus of the bright original high polished blue finish with some minor box wear and flaking present on the barrel, a couple of areas of minor pitting on the cylinder and toe of the backstrap, and a few minor dings and handling marks. The frame and hammer retain virtually all of the vivid original case colors.

The grips are excellent plus with only light handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are sharp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with the exception of a corner on the lid, pieces of the labels flaked off around the edges and edge wear on the lid.

The box is remarkably sound. This extraordinary Colt Bisley revolver is rare in that it is one of only a few known with its original picture box and a survivor of the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 in truly exceptional condition.

Rock Island Auction Company - -(AmmoLand.com)- Rare, deluxe Volcanic No. 2 Navy Pistol manufactured by the New Haven Arms Co., prior to the Civil War. The deluxe pistol features silver-plated brass receiver that is decorated with bold Germanic scroll engraving on a punch-dot background.

The barrel was originally blue and the hammer and finger lever have a case-hardened finish. The top of the barrel is roll stamped: “REPEATING ARMS CO./PATENT NEWHAVEN CONN. FEB. 14. 1854″ in two lines. The “VOLCANIC” markings which were part of the barrel legend were omitted after Oliver F. Winchester reorganized the Volcanic Repeating Arms Co., as the New Haven Arms Co., in April 1857.

The serial number, “1638″ is stamped on the right side of the finger lever and on the inside of both ivory grips. All of the visible serial numbers match. New Haven Arms Company advertisements from February, 1859, list the “No. 2-8-inch Navy Pistol” available “OO-plated and engraved” for $20.00.

The engraving on this pistol is more detailed and better executed than the relatively simple engraving shown on the standard engraved Volcanic revolver illustrated on page 6 of “THE BOOK OF WINCHESTER ENGRAVING” by R.L. Wilson.

The combination of detailed scroll and border engraving, silver-plated receiver and ivory grips appears to be nearly identical to the pair of deluxe engraved Volcanic pistols with 8-inch barrels made for Oliver Winchester shown on page 6 of “THE BOOK OF WINCHESTER ENGRAVING”.

This pistol almost certainly represents the highest level of engraving, finish and deluxe features available on a New Haven Arms Co., Volcanic pistol. Also, an artist painting of this pistol # 1638 was used for the cover of the 14th annual edition (1960) of Gun Digest by John T. Amber.

Condition:
Very good. The barrel has a very attractive, plum-brown once cleaned (and toned) patina. The markings are fully legible and the barrel edges are sharp. There is some very fine pitting on the left side of the barrel which does not detract from the overall appearance of the pistol.

The hammer and loading lever have a dark age patina with some scattered light pitting. The brass frame retains approximately 20% of the original silver-plated finish which is contained in the protected areas.

The well-executed engraving is crisp and deep. The edges of the receiver side-plates are sharp and straight with almost none of the battering found on side-plates that have been removed. The fine ivory grips have a yellow patina with several minor spots of brown discoloration and several hair-line age cracks on the butt.

The pistol is functional and the action works well. This is a rare, deluxe engraved, New Haven Arms Co., Lever Action No. 2 Navy Pistol.( See RIA Auction for Exact Condition Details)

Rock Island Auction Company - -(AmmoLand.com)- This is just a beautiful example of an exceptional original Colt Auto Ordnance Thompson 1921/1928 US Navy over stamp submachine gun.

This specific submachine gun was original produced in the 1921 configuration, and later, over stamped with “U.S. NAVY MODEL OF 1928″. This model came into being because of the lagging sales for the 1921 series of SMG, and the fact that the USMC successfully used many of these New SMGs in Nicaragua, the Auto Ordnance company began to remark their inventory with the intent of peaking sales interest to various police and Government agencies.

The basic difference between the original 1921 and 1928 configurations is that the latter has a slightly reduced cyclic rate of fire. These Thompson SMGs were probably one of the best machined and hand fitted submachines ever produced.

They all have a distinctive deep rich blue metal finish with the bolt remaining in the white with excellent deep dark brown walnut, foregrip, pistol grip and buttstock. If you ever have a chance to disassemble one of these weapons you will be amazed at how well they were made, the parts just slide together like glass.

This specific weapon still has all the traditional and distinctive Thompson features that are so easily recognizable in the Gangster movies ,WWII, and even up to Vietnam, such as; the Auto Ordnance ported compensator on the end of the barrel, the short 10 1/2 inch barrel with cooling fins, the vertical pistol grip, the detachable buttstock, and the fully adjustable Thompson ladder rear sight that is graduated from 100-600 yards.

The left side of the receiver is marked “U.S. Navy/MODEL OF 1921″ with the ‘8′ dated over stamped on ‘1′ in 1921, with the serial number 10775 below the marking block. The left rear portion of the receiver is marked: “THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45 AUTOMATIC COLT CARTRIDGE/MANUFACTURED BY/ COLT’S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” the right side is marked with the five lines of patent dates along with the two line ‘AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION, NEW YORK U.S.A”.

The top of the receiver and is marked with the “Bullet” logo with ‘THOMSPON’ inside. There are no other accessories with specific lot.

Condition:
Excellent with approximately 97% original blue finish showing just some minor wear on the edges and high spots overall, such as the front edges of the compensator, with actual wear on the right side of the receiver, along the lower edge where it meets the lower trigger group, with some minor scratches and handling marks on the left side.

Probably just from sitting in a storage container or display case. All three wood components have a nice medium brown, matching color with just some minor scratches on the right side of the pistol grip, with a few more minor handling marks and light pressure dents on the buttstock. The receiver and frame (lower trigger group assembly) have matching numbers.

Currently most of the internal parts and components all have a coat of old semi-dried preservative grease. Just a exceptional example of a very early ‘1928 Navy’ over stamp Thompson submachine gun. This weapon is a fully transferable class III weapon that has the appropriate ATF/Federal Tax stamp. ( See RIA Auction for Exact Condition Details)

U.S. Navy Over Stamp Thompson Submachine Gun

LINCOLN, Neb. – -(AmmoLand.com)- Safety should be uppermost on the minds of hunters when the firearm deer season opens Nov. 14, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

A new regulation allows turkey hunting during that deer season. Like the deer hunters, however, those turkey hunters must wear hunter orange.

Hunter Education Coordinator Mike Streeter has the following tips for safely handling firearms during the firearm deer season.

Hunting Tips:

• Treat every gun with the respect due a loaded gun.
• Control the direction of the muzzle at all times.
• Be sure the barrel and action are clear of obstructions.
• Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
• Unload guns when not in use. Have the action open and the chamber empty, except when actually hunting. Transport guns in cases, or secure storage racks in vehicles. Handle a gun by the stock, not the barrel.
• Never point a gun at anything you do not want to shoot.
• Never climb over or under a fence, into or out of a tree or jump a ditch with a loaded gun.
• Never shoot at a flat, hard surface or water.
• Store guns and ammunition under lock and key.

The safe use of tree stands also is crucial for a successful hunt.

“A recent survey revealed that nearly 40 percent of deer hunters will fall from their stand or tree some time in their life, and 70 percent of falls occur while hunters either are climbing or descending a tree or entering or leaving the stand,” Streeter said.

He has the following tips for tree stands:

• Use a full-body harness when using a tree stand, including ascending, descending and occupying the stand.
• Only use equipment that is in good condition.
• Avoid hunting from heights above 15 feet.
• Maintain a short tether between yourself and the tree. Allow only enough slack for you to turn and shoot. The tether should be tight when you are seated on your stand.
• Use a haul line to raise and lower your equipment.
• Never use a homemade tree stand.
• Attach yourself to the tree starting when you are on the ground.

Safe Deer Hunting is No Accident

LINCOLN, Neb. – -(AmmoLand.com)- Many opportunities await Nebraska hunters as the opening of the November firearm deer season nears, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Large numbers of deer are in the field and plenty of permits remain available for this season. A new access program is available, opening thousands of acres to walk-in hunting. A popular program that allows deer meat to be distributed to those who want it is in its second year.

The upcoming firearm season runs Nov. 14-22. One major change affects deer hunters; a new regulation this year allows turkey hunting during that season. Like the deer hunters, those turkey hunters must wear hunter orange.

The following are key reminders concerning the season:

• Checking – Deer must be checked at manual check stations. Electronic checking is not available for the firearm season.
• Deer Exchange – Hunters may take advantage of this program and provide deer meat to anyone willing to accept it. Donors and recipients of meat may register for free at ngpc.state.ne.us/hunting/programs/deerexchange/. They search a database for participants in their area, and then make contact by telephone to set up the transfer of meat.
• Open Fields and Waters Program – More than 36,000 acres of private land in the first year of this pilot program are available for public walk-in hunting access. Check the 2009 Public Access Atlas for tracts in each county.
• Remaining Permits – As of Nov. 4, the remaining firearm deer permits, by unit and quantity, are: Buffalo Whitetail, 511; Calamus East, 590; Calamus West, 899; Frenchman Whitetail, 806; Keya Paha, 1,331; Loup West, 576; Pine Ridge, 1,303; Plains, 731; Platte, 100; Platte Whitetail, 1,090; Sandhills, 1,092; and Upper Platte, 651.
• The list of remaining permits may be found at OutdoorNebraska.org. Click on Licenses and Fees, then Purchase a Permit, then Remaining Permits.
• Purchasing Permits – They may be purchased at Commission permitting offices and at OutdoorNebraska.org. A habitat stamp is required of all deer hunters, except residents age 15 or younger.

Firearm Deer Hunting Season Opens Nov. 14

Rock Island Auction Company - -(AmmoLand.com)- This Colt Single Action “Frontier Six Shooter” Revolver and extremely rare factory case was once owned by Buffalo Bill Cody.

The revolver is accompanied by a letter from firearms expert Greg Martin. The letter states that Greg Martin obtained this revolver from Julia Cody’s (William F. Cody’s sister) personal collection of Buffalo Bill artifacts.

The revolver was subsequently sold at auction on March 18, 1988. Also included with the revolver is a Colt factory letter that identifies it as a caliber .44-40 Colt Single Action Army Revolver with blue finish and 7 1/2-inch barrel that was shipped to Hartley & Graham in New York, New York, on October 24, 1882.

The revolver has “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER” acid-etched on left side of the barrel in an oval panel. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the elongated block letter address: “COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” in a single line.

The caliber designation “44″ is stamped on the underside of the barrel in front of the cylinder pin. The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the Colt “three dates in three lines” patent markings. “44 CF” is stamped on the left front trigger guard bow. The serial number: “775243″ is stamped on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard, backstrap. The partial serial number, “7234″ is stamped on the side of the cylinder. The inside of the loading gate is stamped with the assembly number “1990″. A “B” sub-inspection mark is stamped on the rear face of the cylinder.

The revolver is fitted with a one-piece, varnished grip. The Colt mahogany, American style case is lined with blue felt. The case has three compartments grouped around a central cartridge block drilled for fifty .44-40 W.C.F cartridges.

Condition:
Very good plus. The revolver has traces of original blue with the balance having been lightly cleaned and has a crisp smooth, silver-gray patina. The backstrap has a fine stippled finish, which is contemporary with to the revolver but is not factory work.

The revolver has a hand-made cylinder pin that appears date from the period of use. The backstrap screw is an old replacement. The Martin letter states that the revolver appears to be original with the exception of the cylinder pin and backstrap screw. Grips are good with a small chip on the toe and upper edge at frame and a few minor dings. The faint markings “03/WCP” are stamped on the upper portion of both sides of the grip at the junction of the backstrap and the frame. The significance of these markings is unknown but they may be property or inventory markings associated with the Wild West Show.

The action is tight but the hammer will not hold at half-cock. The case is in good overall condition with a repaired chip above the right hinge and a notch above the key-hole that was apparently used to open the case. The case lining is faded and shows moderate to heavy wear. The lining has compression marks, scattered oil stains and some edge-wear on the case partitions.

This is a solid example of the very desirable 1882 production Colt Frontier Six Shooter revolver with extremely rare Colt Single Action Army factory case that can be traced directly to the sister of one of America’s most famous western figures: Buffalo Bill Cody. The revolver is nickel plated fitted with two-piece pearl grips with silver Colt medallions and decorated with Grade “C” factory engraving executed by master engraver Wilbur A. Glahn. The revolver features tight American scroll work on a punch-dot background with floral highlights.

The engraving is very similar to the Grade C engraving on Colt Single Action serial number 356542 illustrated on page 583 of “THE COLT ENGRAVING BOOK, VOL II” by R.L. Wilson (No factory records are available on this vintage of Colt SAA as the factory lost the record book). The top of the revolver barrel is roll-stamped: “COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” in an engraved panel. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped: “COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45″ in an engraved panel. The left side of the frame has the Colt two-date in two-line patent makings followed by the Rampant Colt trademark.

The markings are contained in panels created by the engraved scrollwork. The serial number, “355128″ is located in an engraved panel on the bottom of the frame and stamped on the right side of the trigger guard and backstrap underneath the grips. The inside of the loading gate is numbered “5128″. The rear face of the cylinder is stamped with the partial serial number “28″. All of the serial numbers match. The left side of the trigger guard is stamped with the assembler’s number “3″ above the Colt Triangle, “V/P” proof mark. An “F” is stamped in the hammer well above the firing pin hole.

Condition:
Excellent plus. The revolver retains 99% plus of the original nickel-plated finish. The engraving is crisp and deep.

The pearl grips are in excellent condition with a couple of imperfections on the right panel and light handling marks. This is an outstanding example of the highest level of factory engraving offered by Colt executed by one of the best 20th Century firearms engravers.

This magnificent revolver is in exceptional condition and would be a standout piece in the most advanced Colt collection. ( See RIA Auction for Exact Condition Details)

Rider marked double action pocket revolver with trigger guard loading lever estimated at $16,000-$25,000. Another fine example is a one of a kind documented inventors prototype model Remington vest pocket pistol awarded NRA best display medal carrying a pre-sale estimate of $14,000 – $20,000. The Remington derringers in this sale are some of the finest ever offered.

Rock Island Auction Company - -(AmmoLand.com)- Prototype Colt Model 1910 Semi-Automatic Pistol. Colt manufactured between 12 and 13 of these extremely rare pistols as the direct predecessor in the development of the Model 1911 Automatic Pistol.

The pistol has a high-polish commercial blue finish with casehardened hammer, grip safety and main spring housing. The rear sight, slide lock, trigger, and other small components have a fiery, niter blue finish.

The walnut stocks have rounded tops with fine checkering, small diamonds surrounding the brass screw escutcheons and small stock screws. The pistol has a flat-sided spur hammer with bordered knurling.

The pistol lacks the thumb safety incorporated on the Model 1910 Special Army pistol. The barrel lugs extend completely around the barrel. The pistol is internally serial numbered with “11″ stamped on the top of the frame to the right of the disconnector hole.

The right side of the slide is roll-stamped: “AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 45 RIMLESS SMOKELESS” in two lines. The left side of the slide is marked with “PATENTED/APR.20.1897.SEPT9.1902.DEC.19.1905″ in two unequal lines followed by “COLT’S PT. F.A.MFG. CO./HARTFORD,CT. U.S.A.” in two lines. (The serial number “11″ is the only marking on the frame internally, near the disconnector slot).

Colt shipping records published on page 234 of “THE GOVERNEMNT MODELS” by William Goddard show that Model of 1911 “Special Army” serial number 10 was shipped “With C.L.F Robinson to London on September 2, 1911 and that serial number 13 was shipped to Colt President Albert Foster Jr. on July 27, 1911.

There are no records for the disposition of serial number 11. The Colt Model 1910 Automatic pistol is a key piece in the evolution of the Colt Model 1911pistol; it established the basic configuration for the successful Model 1911 adopted by the U.S. Army on May 5, 1911 which remained in service for nearly 80 years.

Condition:
Very good. The pistol has been professionally restored to nearly new condition. The restoration includes several components that were newly manufactured to the original specifications.

The pistol retains 98% of the high polish blue finish. Nearly all the casehardened finish is present and the case colors are vivid. The small components have nearly all of the fiery, niter blue, finish. The slide markings are sharp. The professionally made grips are near mint with sharp checkering.

This is an outstanding example of an extremely rare, prototype Colt Model 1910 Automatic pistol that would be the centerpiece of any advanced Colt or automatic pistol collection. ( See RIA Auction for Exact Condition Details)

Rock Island Auction Company - -(AmmoLand.com)- Ultra rare exceptional condition Colt Replacement Dragoon or Pre-First Model Dragoon Revolver manufactured in 1848.

This Colt Dragoon variation was identified by John J. Fluck in the 1950s and is believed to have been manufactured by Colt for the Ordnance Department to replace the Colt Walker Model Revolvers destroyed in service. Colt authorities believe that approximately 300 Replacement Dragoon Revolvers were manufactured in the approximate 2216-2515 serial number range.

The revolver has the unique Replacement Dragoon features that include: (1) long, Walker style, backstrap, (2) modified, Walker Model, trigger guard, (3) cylinder with roll-engraved Ranger and Indian fight scene and distinctive pressure ridge just ahead of the locking notches, (4) small, Walker type, serial numbers, (5) roll-stamped barrel marking: “ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY” that reads from the breech to the bore, (6) “COLT’S/PATENT/U.S.” stamped in the middle of the left side of the frame and (7) “P” Ordnance sub-inspection mark stamped on the backstrap, trigger guard, cylinder, left side of the barrel lug and wedge.

The revolver has the Colt military blue finish on the barrel, casehardened loading lever frame and hammer and brass trigger guard and backstrap. The one-piece, walnut, grip has an oil finish. The cylinder has oval stops and lacks the safety pins found on later Colt Dragoon revolvers. The revolver has the early V-shaped mainspring. The full serial number, “2273″ is stamped on the backstrap, trigger guard, frame, barrel lug and the cylinder.

The partial serial number, “273″ is stamped on the inside of the grip and on the cylinder arbor. The loading lever is stamped with the partial serial number “83″. The right side of the grip is stamped with the script “WAT” initials of Ordnance Final Inspector MAJ. William A. Thornton surrounded by an oval border. The left side of the grip is stamped with the Ordnance Sub-inspector’s script initials “NAP” in an oval.

Condition:
Very fine. The barrel retains approximately 70% of the original blue finish with sharp edges and a crisp address on the top flat. The wedge shows traces of the niter blue finish. The loading lever is a period replacement; the loading lever has about 75% of the casehardened finish.

The cylinder has an even, gray-brown patina and retains all of the Ranger and Indian fight scene with strong “MODEL U.S.M.R./COLT’S PATENT”, serial number and sub-inspection marks. The frame and hammer retain 60% plus of the dove-gray casehardened finish with crisp patent markings and serial numbers.

There is some heavy pitting in the hammer well and some very minor pitting on the right side of the hammer and on the edge of the recoil shields. The brass trigger guard and backstrap are in excellent condition with a mellow age patina and scattered age discoloration.

The serial numbers and ordnance inspection marks are crisp. The very fine grip shows moderate handling wear with small chips on the forward edges. The Ordnance Inspector’s and Sub-Inspector’s initials on the lower portion of the grip are sharp. The cylinder does not rotate when the hammer is cocked (this is why the gun is in exceptional condition- it was put up when it broke!).

Rock Island Auction Company - -(AmmoLand.com)- This is just a fantastic example of a super rare all original Kreighoff Factory engraved presentation luger pistol, that is complete with two matching magazines, take down tool and the original leather presentation case.

These engraved presentation grade Kreighoff lugers all fall into a generally accepted serial number range of 16,000 to 18,000 and as noted this serial is a late production model with several of the same exact type of engraved presentation grade lugers shown on pages 200-213 of “THE KREIGHOFF LUGER” book by the late Randall Gibson.

Any Kreighoff P.08 Luger is highly desirable and very rare on today’s market. Having a Factory Engraved “Presentation Grade” Kreighoff of which there is only a handful known, is undoubtedly the pinnacle of Luger collecting.

The Kreighoff, Waffenfabrik at Suhl, Germany manufactured P.08 Luger pistols for the Luftwaffe from 1935-45 and on special occasion embellished and engraved luger as gifts for several high ranking Nazi party members during the war. This specific luger does not carry any specific named individual, however it is dated on the left side “15.8.39″ (August 15, a few weeks before the Nazi invasion of Poland marking the beginning of World War II) and conforms exactly to those noted in the reference above.

The pistol has been engraved in a very fine and highly detailed large Oak Leaf pattern with extremely fine punch dot back ground shading. The engraving covers approximately 75% plus of the pistol with the only portion of the pistol not engraved is basically around the center section of the barrel.

The grips are the all walnut style as noted in the reference above and which have also been highly carved in a deep relief, large Oak Leaf and Acorn pattern on the top and lower portions of the grip panels with the center section of the grips have a very fine checkered pattern in the middle.

The left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel have the single “Crown N” commercial proof and the right side of the barrel extension has the five-pointed star indicating that it was a rejected part, all of which track with other pistols listed in the noted reference book. The top of the chamber is engraved with no date or markings and it has the C-2 type, Kreighoff marking, which consist of a dagger with the rocker on the bottom, flanked by H & K with KREIGHOFF/SUHL underneath.

The left side of the pistol has the correct factory side plate inscription which reads; “HEINRICH KREIGHOFF/WAFFENFABRIK/SUHL/15.8.39″. All of which track with those listed in the referenced book. The luger is complete with two unmarked nickel plated magazines that are only stamped with the serial number (17303) of pistol on the base plate, an original unmarked magazine loading tool and a leather bound presentation case with purple lining. The pistol, two magazines and loading tool all have the Kreighoff factory highly polished platinum finish on all the metal parts.

Condition:
Excellent, with 99% of the totally original factory platinum finish with excellent walnut grips showing no wear at all. The case is in very fine condition showing scuffing on the outside with the leather still nearly all intact.

This is a magnificent example of an extremely rare factory engraved Kreighoff Presentation Luger pistol that is complete with two matching magazines, takedown tool and leather case. ( See RIA Auction for Exact Condition Details)

Most people are unsure exactly what comprises a Scout rifle.

For the most part, the Scout rifle was meant to be the ultimate general purpose rifle.

It needed to be able to take most game animals (up to 400 kg), at ranges up to 300 meters (330 yards), it needed to be less than 1 meter in length (39″), and weigh less than 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds). Hence, the Steyr Scout .308 was born in 1998.

The Model 1894 began at the workbench of John M. Browning, being the first sporting rifle to use smokeless powder. It has been said that the Model 1894 has taken more deer than any other rifle in the world, and with over six million sold, has become by far, the most popular rifle in history. What better way to welcome back the timeless Winchester® Model 1894 than with a tribute to Oliver F. Winchester.

Model 1894 Custom Grade
Only 500 Custom Grade rifles in sets with the High Grade model will be offered. This rifle will have an exquisite 24″ half-round, half-round octagon deeply blued barrel. A buckhorn rear sight is matched with a Marble’s® gold bead front sight. The Custom Grade model has Grade IV/V walnut with a rich, high gloss finish. Deep scroll engraving covers both sides of the blued receiver. Winchester’s signature in gold on top of the bolt. The left side of the receiver bears an early Winchester Repeating Arms crest. On the right side are the words, “Two Hundred Years, Oliver F. Winchester,” and the dates, “1810-2010.” The fancy Grade II/III walnut stock is enhanced with a high gloss finish and is delicately checkered, complementing the fine embellishments on the silver nitride receiver. What you have is a Le Gaulois French Pistol. In 1893 in the “Manufacture de Saint Etienne” catalog appears a curious small repetition pistol sold under the “Machinegun” name. A few years later it will be renamed the “Gaulois” and will remain build till the beginning of World War I.

Invented by Brun-Latrige this gun doesn’t have a trigger as the rear part acts as the repetition and ignition mechanism.

The model displayed there is nickel finish with special grips.

If you don’t already know, I live in Illinois. I’ve been staying active for over 4 years to try to get the right to carry. It’s been a long, tough battle. I’ve even gotten doubtful at times myself, as I see many gun owners in Illinois and Wisconsin are.

I wanted to take a second to assure you that we will get concealed carry. I have a feeling it won’t be very long either. I’m thinking at least one state if not both will get it next year. Pretty bold statement, right? I try not to blow smoke up skirts, and it’s only been recently that I realized we were so close.

Open Carry events in Wisconsin are becoming more and more frequent and successful The US Supreme Court has affirmed our right to own and use pistols for self-defense. This ruling mentions open carry and very strongly supports it. The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear the Chicago gun ban case and rule on it next year in a landmark case that will analyze whether or not, or to what extent, states may regulate the right to keep and bear arms!

Organizations like the Illinois Sheriff’s Association, Illinois Farm Bureau, and others are coming out supporting a concealed carry law. County advisory resolutions have swept the State of Illinois urging them to pass a concealed carry law. Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn recently signed HB182 and HB3714 to protect law-abiding gun owners from wrongful prosecution and the IL Supreme Court just ruled that you can carry an unloaded gun – even with loaded magazines – in the console and presumably other compartments of your car without having to use a second case! I could keep going, but it’s not necessary. More info is on our site.

The point I am making is the time has come for the right-to-carry in Illinois and Wisconsin. Watch as more and more politicians begin supporting it. Smart politicians will see their constituents pushing hard for it. Smart politicians will see the trend of everything moving towards more freedom to own and carry guns.

Women, minorities, and police are pushing for it. People with disabilities who tend to be prime targets of violent crime are pushing for it. We are all equal and we are all pushing for it.

ICarry.org will be starting aggressive ad campaigns to make right-to-carry the top issue for this election and keep it the top issue until it is done. We wish to educate the public before AND after major victories for right-to-carry are won. We will bring many new people into awareness of this issue. Details
This is a full size clone of the standard 1911 .45 ACP. The weight is less than the original 1911 because both the slide and the frame are constructed of aluminum alloy. The lighter slide in particular also allows for reliable functioning it has much less mass for the recoil action of the diminutive .22LR round to function.

The internal components of the 1911-22 are all steel of course. The barrel is fixed to the frame to provide better accuracy. The fixed barrel also eliminates some not necessary parts found in the original .45 which was designed for full disassembly due to battlefield conditions.

Finish on the slide and frame is a tough flat black oxide finish. MKS Supply is also going to make available models with olive drab and desert tan powder coated slides.

Magazines are made of industrial-grade polymer and have been proven in extensive testing to be incredibly reliable as the polymer forming process ensures they are identical thus eliminating steel assembly and fit variances. Traditions Introduces The New Vortek Muzzleloader Rifle

SEOUL, Korea –-(AmmoLand.com)- South Korea’s defense ministry said Wednesday it plans to raise tens of millions of dollars by selling more than 100,000 aging US-supplied rifles to gun enthusiasts in the United States.

Washington has approved South Korea’s plan to sell about 86,000 M1 Garand rifles and 22,000 M1 carbine rifles, together valued at 108 million dollars, the ministry said.

The rifles used during the Korean and Vietnam wars have been kept at military warehouses, it said.

“The US government recently approved our plan to sell old M1 and carbine rifles, which were given to our soldiers as part of a US aid program,” a ministry spokesman told AFP.

The rifles are occasionally used by reserve forces for drills, he said without giving details.

The military will dispose of all its M1s but will keep about 640,000 carbines for reserve forces, the Chosun Ilbo newspaper said.

“Importers are very interested in them as many Americans want to buy them as curios for their collections,” an unidentified military official was quoted as saying.

M1s were made first in 1926 and used in World War II and the Vietnam War. The carbines were first produced in 1941 and used during the 1950-1953 Korean War.

Southport, CT –-(AmmoLand.com)- Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE-RGR) announces the introduction of the Ruger® SR-22™ Rifle, an autoloading, rimfire rifle that combines the legendary reliability of the Ruger® 10/22® with the ergonomics and configurability of the new AR-style Ruger SR-556™.

The new SR-22 Rifle allows shooters to use economical .22 LR ammunition, while still enjoying the look and feel of an “AR” and experiencing the reliability they have come to appreciate from Ruger.

Because it utilizes the unique rotary magazine supplied with the Ruger 10/22, the SR-22 Rifle offers the same gold standard for reliability in autoloading rimfire rifles. Like the 10/22, the AR-style SR-22 Rifle also has an extensive array of accessories available, allowing shooters to select a custom configuration that best suits their tastes and needs.

The SR-22 Rifle uses a standard 10/22 action inside a top-quality, all-aluminum chassis that faithfully replicates the AR-platform dimensions between the sighting plane, buttstock height, and grip. The SR-22 Rifle provides a Picatinny rail optic mount, and includes a six-position, telescoping M4-style buttstock (on a Mil-Spec diameter tube), plus a Hogue® Monogrip® pistol grip. Buttstocks and grips may be swapped out for any AR-style compatible option.

The SR-22 Rifle also features a round, mid-length handguard mounted on a standard-thread AR-style barrel nut. Picatinny rails, specifically designed for this handguard, are available from Ruger, allowing the handguard to be configured to accept any number of rail-mounted sights or accessories. A barrel support block is installed in the handguard, ensuring accuracy and allowing the standard 10/22 V-block barrel attachment system to be used.

The SR-22 Rifle is equipped with a precision-rifled, cold hammer-forged alloy steel barrel. The 16-1/8″ barrel is capped with an SR-556/Mini-14 flash suppressor mounted with a 1/2″-28 thread.
