SMYRNA, Ga. --(Ammoland.com)- Gaston Glock’s strong belief in giving back was woven into the fabric of GLOCK, Inc. when the United States division of the company was established in 1986.

Ever since, the company has built on its founder’s strong foundation of philanthropy.

In 2011, GLOCK donated more than $2.5M to a variety of non-profit causes across the country.

“GLOCK’s charitable-giving focus is to assist those who put themselves in harm’s way to defend the freedoms that we all currently enjoy,” said Josh Dorsey, GLOCK vice-president.

“It’s with great pleasure that GLOCK is able to make a difference by contributing to a number of local community events across the country, including those that involve children’s charities.”

In addition to numerous local market philanthropic efforts, GLOCK also financially supports these top national organizations:

  • Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF): Provides college educations to the surviving children of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations personnel killed in combat or training. Additionally, SOWF provides immediate financial assistance to special operations personnel severely wounded so their loved ones can be bedside during their recovery.
  • Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.): Provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty as determined by Federal criteria. Furthermore, C.O.P.S. provides training to law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and educates the public of the need to support the law enforcement profession and its survivors.
  • Young Marines: Positively impacts America’s future by providing programs for youth that promote their mental, moral and physical health through teamwork, self-discipline and a drug-free lifestyle. The program strives to instill core values of “Honor, Courage and Commitment” adopted by the Marine Corps to each of their members.
  • National Rifle Association (NRA): America’s foremost defender of Second Amendment rights, the NRA has, since its inception, been the premier firearms education organization in the world. In addition, GLOCK, Inc. supports several organizations associated with the National Rifle Association (NRA) such as NRA Whittington Center Operational Costs and NRA Whittington Center Adventure Camp.
