title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- When it comes to record keeping and maintaining internal controls, firearms retailers need to “sweat the details,” but the National Shooting Sports Foundation® reminds them that they don’t have to go it alone.

NSSF, the trade association for the firearms industry, offers federally licenced firearms retailers (FFLs) the opportunity to work with experienced advisors who, as former Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) officials, understand what it takes to stay compliant with ATF rules and regulations.

This service is a key benefit available only to NSSF retailer members; it alone can be worth the price of a retailer membership.

“Working with an ATF compliance advisor can save a firearms retailer time, money, hassles and, in a worst case scenario, his or her business,” said Randy Clark, NSSF’s managing director of business development.

This is how it works. Retailers requiring assistance contact NSSF, which coordinates requests with retired ATF compliance advisors participating in the program. A compliance advisor will then personally visit the retailer to assess its level of ATF compliance, conduct a review of internal controls over firearms and record keeping and train the retailer and staff to help the business to be prepared for an ATF compliance inspection and pass it with flying colors. The price of this service for members is only $499. NSSF also will pick up other fees of compliance advisors, including all travel expenses.

Each ATF compliance advisor brings a wealth of experience to the job, having conducted hundreds of firearm retailer compliance inspections.

“These are high quality, seasoned former ATF compliance professionals,” said Clark.

NSSF has added three advisors to its popular retailer compliance program so that more FFLs can take advantage of expert advice and avoid warning conferences, warning letters, fines, license revocations or license non-renewals that often are due to oversights and human errors involving paperwork and inventory and not staying abreast of new regulations.

The enhanced program was announced at SHOT Show University, a series of educational seminars for firearms retailers that took place the day before the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) in Las Vegas.

To learn more about the NSSF’s Retailer Compliance Program, email Randy Clark at rclark@nssf.org. Additional NSSF resources for firearms retailers are available at www.nssf.org/retailers/.

About NSSF
Eddie Bauer

Seattle, Wash. --(Ammoland.com)- Eddie Bauer, the Original Outdoor Outfitter, is proud to announce the launch of its new Sport Shop Collection, the next generation of hunting, fishing and shooting apparel for the modern American sportsman and sportswoman.

Continuing a legacy of 90 years of outfitting, today’s Sport Shop line is a mix of technology and tradition, and a tribute to Eddie Bauer himself, his wife and partner Christine “Stine” Bauer, and their embrace of the outdoors.

In 1920, Eddie Bauer, an avid Northwest outdoorsman, opened his first shop in downtown Seattle. Within a year, he had saved enough money to expand the shop to include hunting and fishing gear and the store soon became a gathering place for Seattle’s best outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen.

Eddie was more than a shopkeeper; he designed and built revolutionary products that remain functional and influential to this day. In 1940, he patented the first down jacket in America, the “Skyliner”, and later began to design and build down apparel and sleeping bags for the U.S. military. In the 1950′s – 60′s, Eddie became THE American expedition outfitter during the Golden Age of Himalayan mountaineering, providing down apparel and gear for many of the historic American expeditions, including twelve epic first ascents.

Eddie quickly realized that the successful creation of a technical and authentic product line required expert testing in the environment for which the product was designed. Every Labor Day Eddie closed his shop for five months to go hunting and fishing and field test everything he made, gathering feedback from the local guides who lived in and counted on the gear he sold. This strategy is still deeply engrained in the Eddie Bauer Guide-Built, Guide Tested process, and is the foundation on which the Sport Shop Collection is created. This approach was also part of Eddie’s dedication to superior service and commitment to offering products that were “worthy of your high esteem,” a mantra that remains at the heart of the Eddie Bauer brand today.

The Sport Shop Collection will be built through a series of product launches, the first of which is a full lineup of apparel for sporting clays, trap and skeet shooting for Spring 2012. The Spring 2012 collection includes a Clay Break Shooting Vest, which features a leather quilted shooting patch, removable air mesh recoil pad and an upper mesh back panel. The Palouse Shooting Shirt is designed with lightweight cotton and features a vented mesh back, button down collars with diamond quilt stitched overlay, and gusseted underarms. Among the spotlighted products will also be a signature Hunting Skyliner Jacket, an updated version of the original 1936 Skyliner Model Jacket, the cornerstone of the Eddie Bauer outerwear legacy.

Following closely behind the spring release of shooting apparel will be a full product offering for upland hunting available to consumers in July 2012. Each piece was designed and tested by guides and experts, including John Burrell, President of High Adventure Company, certified wildlife biologist and award-winning outfitter; and our in-house Sport Shop Expert, Rebecca Etchen Peters, who has been shooting and hunting since she was strong enough to hold a gun. Both have logged hundreds of hours to ensure that this product not only remains authentic to the sport and the Eddie Bauer heritage, but is also pushing the limits of innovation for technical shooting apparel.

<object

The Microtherm™ Featherweight Hunting Jacket is a piece Stine would have worn back in the day. It is highly packable and warm with 800-fill power, making it the perfect piece for layering under an upland vest for mid day high altitude buck hunting in the Pasayton wilderness. The Hanford Reach Upland Brush Pant is our heavy weight upland pant with Cordura overlays. This is a great late season and wet weather pant, one Eddie would have also used for dog training, when he had a wet Labrador at heel.

Fresh and saltwater fishing apparel will round out the collection in Spring 2013.

For more information on the Eddie Bauer Sport Shop collection, go to www.eddiebauer.com/SportShop.

About Eddie Bauer
Central Texas Gun Works

AUSTIN, Texas --(Ammoland.com)- Recently, Texas has experienced difficulty in producing electricity, resulting in electrical shortages.

To offset the challenges, Off Grid Signs, LLC developed a sign that generates energy from solar-powered panels. Central Texas Gun Works (Centex Guns), owned by Michael Cargill, is the first business to adopt a solar-powered sign in Texas.

Austin’s first solar-energy-powered sign lit up on the evening of November 28, 2011 at Centex Guns, located at 321 W. Ben White Blvd, Suite 203, Austin, Texas 78704. Because the sign is independent from an electrical grid, it uses only sunlight during the daytime to charge the solar power source, which continues to illuminate the sign throughout the night. Thus, the solar-powered energy panels assist in eliminating the electrical load on Texas’ overburdened power supply.

Being off the electrical grid not only reduces operating costs for business owners like Cargill by eliminating the need to pay for electricity to light their business location’s sign, but it also enables companies to become more eco-friendly. Additionally, the adoption of green practices rewards business owners with government tax rebates and refunds.

Event Details

Who: Off Grid Signs LLC and Central Texas Gun Works (Centex Guns) LLC

What: Gun Store Goes Green

Where: Central Texas Gun Works; 321 W. They will also gladly build you a custom unit if one of their 5 standard sizes will not work for you. A sign in a necessity for every company, but paying to light it is not! title="AmmoLand Reports" href="../" target="_self">Ammoland.com)-December 7th was an important day for Gun Safari, firearms enthusiasts and Second Amendment supporters in Los Angeles.

A public hearing took place in Van Nuys in front of the local neighborhood council, which is one of the steps required during the application process for a conditional use permit-a requirement to operate as an FFL in Los Angeles.

It is well known to most firearm enthusiasts in the area that Los Angeles is not a Second Amendment friendly place anymore. Gun shops typically close here, not open, but with the support of Calguns, CRPA, NRA and all the supporters who showed up to let their presence be felt, it looks like that might be changing.

With a simple post on the Calguns forums, an e-mail notification by CRPA, and a flyer posted up at a local NRA meeting, we were able to get our message out to enthusiasts in our area who feel the same.

Going into the hearing we were very uncertain how the board was going to vote, we had met with them prior and were greeted by mixed opinions towards firearms. Multiple members displayed a fear and general misunderstanding of firearms/ammunition, and multiple members also stated they were simply worried about thefts, firearms winding up on the streets, and straw purchases. When our time came to be heard, one lone member who is the wife of an avid hunter, spoke on behalf of Gun Safari. Questions were asked mostly regarding security of the facility and a basic rundown of what items and services were planned on being offered by Gun Safari.

Gun Safari

It is my belief that what happened next is what swayed the vote. Members of the community in attendance were given the chance to voice their opinions, we had individuals speak in favor-not simply of a gun shop opening-but a business that will bring growth back to our community and bring a service people want back to a city that has sought the closure of such stores in the past.

After listening to their fellow community members speak, the board held a vote and passed a motion with a vote of 9-1 in favor of sending a recommendation of approval to the city council and zoning administrators for Gun Safari’s request of a conditional use permit to sell firearms and ammunition in the city of Los Angeles.

Overall the first of two hearings was a great success, with credit due to the wonderful pro-Second Amendment organizations we have operating, and most importantly the people who were willing to come out and make their voices count.

Details for the next and final meeting where a decision will be made are listed below.

WHAT:
Gun Owners of America

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- First, the good news: Fox News is reporting that due to an amazing outpouring of opposition, the vote on the so-called anti-piracy legislation – which could muzzle websites like GOA’s – has been postponed.

Thank you all for your activism … and please stay tuned to further updates on this issue.

Now for the bad news: You know what they say about Friday the 13th.

Well, this past Friday, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued a setback to gun owners. The issue involved a lawsuit challenging Barack Obama’s illegal multiple sales regulations. [NSSF v. Jones, Acting Director, BATFE.]

Through those regulations, Obama has demanded, by regulatory fiat, that firearms licensees in four southwestern states report multiple sales of certain long guns to the federal government.

In upholding this action, Judge Rosemary Collyer -– a Bush appointee! –- ignored the Constitution, the Supreme Court’s decision in the Heller case, and the clear language of federal law.

Of course, this once again underscores the danger of putting all our eggs in the “court basket.” It’s not a bad idea to challenge unconstitutional measures in the courts, but it’s problematic if we look to them as being the ultimate defenders of our gun rights. Clearly, they are not.

Among other things, Judge Collyer ignored the obvious language of the 1986 McClure-Volkmer Act, which prohibits the ATF from demanding any information on gun owners other than information explicitly allowed by statute.

Specifically, the section states: “Such [licensees] shall not be required to submit to the Attorney General reports and information with respect to such records and the contents thereof, except as expressly required by this section.” (18 U.S.C. 923(g)(1))

Paragraph (g)(5) allows the Attorney General to demand information by issuing a “demand letter,” but participants in the drafting of McClure-Volkmer affirm that this was not intended to trump the paragraph (1) limitation, in order to statutorily mandate reporting requirements.

To interpret paragraph (g)(5), as Obama and Attorney General Holder have interpreted it, is to say that there are NO limits on the information the Attorney General can demand -– up to and including every 4473 in the country.

In opening this door, Collyer cited much narrower decisions in the Fourth and the liberal Ninth Circuit, but expanded them beyond any judicial precedent. Citing a test that looked at whether the ATF’s action constituted a “clear error of judgment” or was “arbitrary or capricious,”

Collyer gave all of the benefit of the doubt to Obama -– and none to the Second Amendment, which wasn’t even considered in her 21-page opinion.

The decision will presumably be appealed to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals -– a supposedly “conservative” circuit that nevertheless upheld ObamaCare.

But the larger issue is this: Congress can block these regulations by simply cutting off the money to implement them. Last fall, we demanded that the House include such a prohibition in its giant money bill. But congressional leaders ignored the Second Amendment community on this and a variety of other pro-gun issues, including defunding ObamaCare.

It is late in the game. But there is still an opportunity to prohibit funding for the multiple sales regulations on the annual Department of Justice Appropriations bill and the “continuing resolution” which will inevitably follow around September 30.

True, a lot of damage will have been done by that point. But we cannot allow to stand the precedent that the Attorney General can seize any and all gun-related information, simply by saying he wants it.

ACTION:Ammoland.com)- Looking for a local gun dealer that holds a Federal Firearm License?

FindTheBest is here to help sort out the confusion surrounding the status of dealers with Federal Firearms Licenses from the ATF.

While the ATF releases this information for the public it is hard to sort through all the confusion with over 65,000 licensees. FindTheBest has organized the data into an easy to use format, where you can easily sort through the information to find what you are looking for. Additionally, you can filter the License Type so you can find the dealer that meets your needs.

Now that you have found the dealer, you can compare the different guns on FindTheBest as well. With a database of 626 guns, you can compare side-by-side guns that you are considering to see how they stack up. The variables you can compare across include Manufacturer, MSRP, Class, Action, Caliber, Capacity, Dimensions, and more. So whether you are in the market for Hunting, Sports, or Defense FindTheBest can help you sort through all the information and find the information on guns you need.

If you are in the market for guns, then you may want to consider a Gun Safe to store your guns and ammunition. Before you purchase a gun safe, you will want to make sure that the safe can accommodate the range of guns that you are planning to store. Other factors to influence your decision may be the Fire Rating, Burglary Rating, or Lock Rating. If you are still unsure then FindTheBest compiles ratings for the safes based on relevant data provided by manufacturers.

Finally, you may also be interested in going out to a shooting range to test out any new guns. With over 300 indoor or outdoor shooting ranges listed, FindTheBest can help you find the one nearest to you.

Author: Jack Middlebrook student at University of California Santa Barbara and shooting enthusiast. class="wp-caption-text">CCRKBA.org

BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- While some people are struggling to explain a gun buying surge reported on “Black Friday,” the day after Thanksgiving, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms suggests there are several plausible explanations, all reflecting the times in which we live.

“Despite claims to the contrary,” observed CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “for many American citizens, the economy remains unstable, and the outlook for tomorrow is very uncertain. We’ve seen public safety budgets hacked to shreds by state and local governments that have spent themselves into near bankruptcy. Our streets, parks and state capitol buildings have been occupied by anarchists. Europe appears on the verge of financial collapse. Congress is unable to resolve our budget crisis.”

“And on top of that,” he added, “we’ve got a spectator president who always seems to be waiting for someone else to take action, perhaps because he wants someone else to blame for another plan that doesn’t work. Why is it any surprise that American citizens, including many for the first time, are buying firearms and ammunition?”

USA Today reported that the FBI’s National Instant Check center logged more than 129,000 background check requests last Friday, a new record surpassing the 97,848 checks conducted on Black Friday in 2008. The National Shooting Sports Foundation credits much of the buying to the realization by increasing numbers of citizens that they have a constitutional right to own guns. Also, more women are getting involved in shooting sports, including hunting, and more are carrying firearms for personal protection.

“Americans hope for the best,” Gottlieb said, “but they prepare for the worst. Some call that ‘panic’ but in reality, it is prudence. While there are some small signs of improvement, there remains a vast landscape of uncertainty. Sensible people have evidently concluded that it is better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. The Citizens Committee can be reached by phone at (425) 454-4911, on the Internet at www.ccrkba.org or by email to InformationRequest@ccrkba.org.
Tags: <a

AcuSport has been a supporter of the FFLGuard program, since its launch in 2008, and continues its support by teaming with FFLGuard’s latest NFA-LSP initiative to better address the legal needs of retailers across the nation.

FFLGuard

The NFA-LSP is a comprehensive package of materials and legal services aimed at supporting both current SOT holders and retailers seeking to enter the Class III market. The offering includes a companion piece to FFLGuard’s “Law Plus Guidelines,” as formulated by FFLGuard in consultation with ATF, in an effort to keep Class III retailers compliant and away from the “willfulness” threshold that triggers potential license revocation. Also included with the NFA-LSP is access to David Goldman, Esq., and his NFA Trust practice, which includes: five (5) redeemable vouchers for NFA trusts to be formed at a 50% discount; and ten (10) $100 redemption certificates. These vouchers and certificates are available for retailers and their Class III customers for NFA trust formation. Retailer support is further delivered through one (1) hour of FFLGuard HelpDesk time regarding and NFA related legal issue and a one (1) hour teleconference with FFLGuard’s Director of Field Operations, Scott Braum, on the implementation of the Law Plus Guidelines for NFA. Other components of the comprehensive plan include a redemption voucher for the day-long seminar on NFA matters presented yearly by attorney Mark Barnes at a special rate, a sample ATF Form 5630.7 and instruction sheet, and numerous informational brochures including an overview of Class III products with emphasis on the suppressor market.

“The NFA-LSP is truly a complete offering that will benefit any retailer currently in the Class III market, or those wanting to enter this rapidly expanding market segment” stated Christopher Chiafullo, attorney and founder of the FFLGuard program, who serves as its National Coordinating Counsel and Director of Special Operations. “The more comfortable we can make retailers about being within the confines of the law, the more likely they will be to sell Class III firearms… which makes everyone happy from manufacturers, to distributors, to retailers, to ATF, to the firearms industry as a whole.”

The standard fee for a one-year subscription to the NFA-LSP is $995 for all FFLGuard clients on their full-service plan. Through an exclusive partnership with FFLGuard, AcuSport retailers can purchase the NFA-LSP for $495 the first year and each year thereafter, whether or not they are current clients on FFLGuard’s full-service plan. AcuSport’s decision to offer this expanded solution as part of their CustomerLink offering “[w]as a natural fit,” states AcuSport Director of Business Integration, Kenan Ikels.

“Our retailers have experienced superior service from the FFLGuard program over the last three years, and we are so confident in the value of this program that AcuSport has agreed to subsidize the cost by offering a substantial discount only available through AcuSport’s CustomerLink program,” noted Mr. Ikels.

He finished by stating that “[t]he partnership with FFLGuard to offer the NFA-LSP combined with an expanding offering of Class III products allows AcuSport’s retailers to take advantage of this growing segment of our industry ultimately increasing customer satisfaction levels for the end consumer… We are encouraging our manufacturing partners to join in on this opportunity as well, because we see it as such a tremendous value.”

Based in Bellefontaine, Ohio, AcuSport Corporation is a nationwide distributor of shooting and hunting products with regional sales offices in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Minnesota, Texas, Montana and California. If retailers are interested in joining FFLGuard or would like additional information on the FFLGuard program, please visit www.fflguard.com, call 1-888-335-4731 Ext. 710, follow them on Twitter (@FFLGuard), or contact your AcuSport Sales Professional at 1-800-543-3150. class="wp-caption-text">Bass Pro Shops

Harlingen, Texas --(Ammoland.com)- Near the southern tip of Texas, at the lower end of the Rio Grande Valley, the city of Harlingen is an exciting blend of South Texas hospitality and the rich, colorful traditions of Mexico.

Located just 30 miles from the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Harlingen’s early development was primarily agricultural, distribution and shipping.

But with a rich history in railroad and World War II military installations, the area became more diversified as trades, manufacturing and service industries sprang up.

Today, tourism is big as “Winter Texans” flock to the area, as well as schools of ‘spring breakers’ and it is home to many multifaceted retirement communities. Those visitors realized what native Texans always knew–South Texas is host to many wonderful year-round outdoor opportunities and attractions.

Beginning November 16th, outdoor enthusiasts will discover their next great South Texas adventure begins at the new Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Harlingen.

The 145,000-square foot Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Texas’ sixth, is the signature anchor for the Cameron Crossing retail development located at the intersection of U.S. Expressways 83 and 77. While you’ll find a huge selection of outdoor gear, Bass Pro Shops stores are also part museum, art gallery and an aquarium, education, conservation and entertainment center. The Grand Opening is set for Thursday, November 17th but a special “Evening for Conservation” to help benefit area conservation groups will be held Wednesday night, November 16th beginning at 6 PM. This exciting, celebrity-packed event is free and open to the public.

The entire store is a tribute to the beautiful landscape of the South Texas countryside—from the hill country to the Rio Grande and the subtropical region of the Gulf coast–its history and the culture of its people. Like other Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World stores, it takes on the flavor and atmosphere of the region in which it is located. Using more than 3,500 area artifacts, antiques, period pictures, state and record wildlife mounts and memorabilia, the store becomes a living museum of Texas’ hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor legacies.

The Harlingen store welcomes guests to the property from the moment they enter the site. The landscaping pays tribute to the subtropical climate that South Texas is known for, with its native, spiny brushes, billowing grasses and twisted Juniper trees. In homage to the area’s rich, cultural traditions of Mexico, a themed structure and old stone well, that could just as easily be at the center of a small town in the region, have been added to the outside front of the store. Old weathered logs and stones, indicative of native architecture in the arid climate were used in the construction, adding interest and a sense of place.

Massive log and rock work frame the Grand Entrance where, inside, rustic flagstone floors, aged stucco wall finishes, and vaulted post and beam construction ceiling make up the front lobby which salutes the grand tradition of a Spanish hacienda.

The entryway diorama, framed by yuccas, displays a huge Texas Longhorn mount, behind old, bleached fencing and prickly pear cactus. Whitetail deer stand amongst a lush, dense thicket. A replica of the famous buck, “The Tall Texan,” from Bass Pro Shops’ King of Bucks Collection, is displayed prominently in the lobby as well as several whitetail mounts from the historic King Ranch. Some animal mounts were also provided by Palermo Taxidermy in Port Isabel.

Hand-painted murals from renowned artists such as Denny Burkhart and Burita Hansen wrap the store’s interior and depict familiar scenes of the region. Other prints and paintings were supplied by local artist Larry Haines. The series of beautifully painted murals transport the viewer through panoramic vistas of the South Texas countryside. Bluebonnets blanket a hillside populated with wild turkey; an old water tank and windmill sits amidst mesquite trees and prickly pear as doves fly overhead. Spanish Moss drips from cypress trees along the Rio Grande while white ibis stand near the banks of a deep lagoon frequented by alligators; sheltered coves give way to a wetlands area with scores of waterfowl flying above.

One mural features the Goose Island Live Oak Tree—thought to be the largest one in the nation—with feral hogs rooting beneath its gnarled branches. Yet another mural depicts a scene in Lost Pines at Bastrop State Park of a picturesque bass lake tucked away. All are beautifully replicated with the stroke of an artist’s brush and through the use of special lighting techniques the murals take on a living, breathing quality. The murals are unique in the fact that what starts out many times as a simple painting extends into an actual fish or wildlife mount or some other property creating an exceptional 3D effect.

Giant, exquisitely crafted outdoor themed chandeliers, made by Bass Pro Shops’ own artisans, hang throughout the store. Elk, deer, raccoon, rabbit, turkey, bobcat and bear tracks are imprinted in the concrete floor.

Museum quality wildlife exhibits and dioramas are seen throughout the store. Deer pass along old rock walls as they carefully pick their way through a crumbling stone building. One feature depicts a Texas coastal tidal flats scene and displays a duck blind on stilts. Visitors can walk ‘under the flats’ and look up to see a fish-eye’s view of ducks diving and swimming on the surface. Waves of waterfowl along with geese, pheasant and eagles may be seen flying and roosting throughout the clerestory.

Coyotes, turkey and deer stand amongst large, overhanging rock ledges on top of the 27,000 gallon fresh water aquarium. The multi-story waterfall, reminiscent of the McKinney Falls area, cascades down rocks and into the aquarium which will be stocked with more than 100 fish native to the area including largemouth, smallmouth, white, and striped bass, walleye, crappie, channel and blue cats, sunfish, bowfin and longnose, spotted and alligator gar.

With a nod to Texas’ coast fishing, restrooms are disguised as an old charter boat launch dock and an open air fish cleaning station with a wooden platform and an aged tin roof. Vintage coolers, stainless steel sinks, buoys, ropes, hoses, life jackets, and old thermometer complete the scene.

Bass Pro Shops’ dedication to detail is evident wherever you look as their artisans work to create a visual style unique to that store, including the iron railings, sconces and handcrafted ornate metal fire screen doors which feature a road runner, prickly pear and yucca.

At Harlingen Bass Pro Shops Outdoors Store visitors can Bowl ‘Under the Ocean’!

Bowling like you’ve never seen before will be offered at the Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill. This 15,000 square-foot nautical-themed entity, located within the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World store, features a truly unique atmosphere and design geared for family fun and dining.

Offering an outside as well as an in-store entrance, visitors will approach a wooden ship-like desk to obtain shoes and a lane. Twelve lanes, divided into two separate areas of 6 lanes each, offer customers the chance to bowl ‘under the ocean.’ Dock wood lanes feature beautiful under-water scenery of sea turtles, sharks, stingrays and other saltwater species which will also glow in the dark during cosmic bowling. Hand-painted murals depicting oceanic life line the walls and fish, like a 16’ long giant squid, hang suspended from the ceiling.

Casual family dining will be available in the Grill which is capable of seating 90 in the main dining room and has additional seating for 48 in a separate area. Customers can select from a menu featuring a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, salads and burgers. A private room can host up to 36 and is the perfect spot for a private lunch or dinner, seminar or even a fun birthday party.

An island-theme bar area, which has seating for 20, offers visitors the experience of feeling like they are underwater exploring the skeletal remains of a sunken ship. Looking up, visitors can see the battered, barnacle and coral-encrusted wooden hull, an old rusted iron chain and the iron rail around the bow. A host of exotic fish swim in and around the wreck while Dorado and sharks, suspended from the ceiling, appear to swim overhead. The bar features a 2000-gallon saltwater aquarium with scores of beautiful, tropical fish. It is elevated to provide views of the bowling action while serving up your favorite refreshment.

But the attention to detail doesn’t stop with store design and imagery elements. The same consideration is given to merchandise selection. Visitors will have the area’s largest array of freshwater rods, reels and fishing accessories to choose from, all hand-picked and specially selected for the area.

The White River Fly Shop, featuring antique and collectible fly fishing memorabilia, has a vast selection of the latest in fly fishing gear. Experts will continue the art of hand-tying flies on site and assist customers in making the perfect selection.

In the hunting department, customers will find an equally impressive array of hunting clothing and gear. The archery department offers a bow set-up shop and a 25-yard archery range that is perfect for testing new bows or sharpening necessary archery skills.

More than a hunting and fishing store, visitors will also find items perfect for camping, hiking, outdoor cooking, bird watching or whatever your outdoor pleasures may be. A gift and nature center offers a variety of items from artwork to lamps, to bird feeders and furniture, to home decorating items and gifts for the holidays. Cooking accessories include cookbooks, spices, grills and jerky making items.

The store also features a General Store and a Fudge Shop. Visitors can hearken to an earlier day while they wander through the General Store patterned after “The Champion Store” , later remodeled and named “The Key of the Gulf” by Charles Champion in Old Point Isabel. A large collection of foods and gift items are available for country, outdoor and cabin living as well as some of the best homemade fudge around.

A wide selection of men’s and women’s footwear and apparel, featuring popular brands including Columbia, North Face, Woolrich, Bob Timberlake, World Wide Sportsman and RedHead are also available.

Kids of all ages will enjoy the Laser Shooting Arcade outfitted with some 56 moving targets themed after a Safari Bush Camp. The site has a waterin’ hole, jeeps, a canvas tent and lots of great hunting. The camp has been taken over by lion, deer and even an elephant.

A front wall near the checkouts displays the logos of the national conservation partners of Bass Pro Shops. A company hallmark, their dedication to conservation is apparent through the many groups and organizations whose ongoing efforts and continuing outdoor education they support.

“The people of our company believe very strongly that the future of our industry, the sports we serve, and the sports we personally enjoy are absolutely more dependent upon how we manage our natural resources than anything else,” says Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris. “It is far more important than any catalog we mail, any new store we open, or any new product our vendor creates.”

The marine and boat center displays a full range of boats from Tracker Marine–the world’s largest manufacturer of fishing boats. From big water boats to small fishing boats, canoeing and even kayaking, customers will find exactly what they need to have fun on the water with selections from Tracker, Nitro, Tahoe, Sun Tracker, Mako and more. An on-site, state-of-the-art boat service center with 4 service bays will also be available for customers’ convenience for boat rigging.

Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World has hired associates from the Harlingen area that have a passion for the outdoors so customers will be assured of getting local skilled, knowledgeable assistance with questions and selections. The store will also offer free Outdoor Skills Workshops for adults, kids and families that will help maximize outdoor fun by teaching new skills and improving existing ones.

About Bass Pro Shops Group:
Ammoland.com)- On October 3, 2011, the Azusa City Council voted to pass on first reading a proposed ordinance which would amend various sections of Chapter 88 of the Azusa Municipal Code and place onerous new restrictions on firearm vendors.

If enacted, the proposed ordinance (Code Amendment 233) would, among other things, amend the City of Azusa’s Development Code to require a special Use Permit for businesses selling retail firearms, and prohibit these businesses from operating in or next to residential zones, or within 500 feet of any school or church.

The proposal was scheduled to come before the Azusa City Council again for final enactment on October 17, 2011. On Thursday, October 13, 2011, after being made aware of the issue, attorneys from Michel & Associates, P.C. submitted a letter to the City of Azusa on behalf of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA) opposing the proposed ordinance. A copy of the <a

The letter also pointed out how the City of Sunnyvale recently rejected a similar ordinance, and noted that Sunnyvale’s Staff Report on the issue indicated that “there ha[d] been no evidence of increased crime, property devaluation or land use incompatibilities as the result of the businesses,” and that Sunnyvale “staff ha[d] not identified any adverse land use impacts associated with a firearms store.”

At the October 17, 2011 Azusa City Council meeting, the provisions of the proposed ordinance relating to firearms were tabled. Whether this means the City Council is rejecting the ordinance altogether or it is just following procedure remains to be seen.

The NRA, CRPA, and their attorneys will continue monitoring the status of Code Amendment 233 and provide updates accordingly.

About:
Ammoland.com)- At its October 3, 2011 meeting, the City Council for the City of Azusa passed on first reading Code Amendment 233, which will effectively zone out at least some of the city’s several firearm vendors.

With regard to firearm vendors, Code Amendment 233 would, among other things, prohibit firearm vendors from being 500 feet from any school, church, or other firearm vendor, prohibit firearm stores from being in or abutting residentially zoned areas, and create revised standards for firearm sales that “will be more restrictive than they are currently.”

Attorneys for the NRA-CRPA Local Ordinance Project have submitted a letter to the City Council addressing the legal ramifications of Code Amendment 233′s provisions, explaining that they violate various constitutional principles and should not be adopted.

The proposed ordinance will soon come before the City Council on second reading for potential adoption today at 7:30pm at the Azusa Civic Auditorium, 213 E. Foothill Blvd.

All NRA and CRPA, as well as all freedom loving people, are encouraged to attend and respectfully, but forcefully, voice their opposition to the Azusa City Council’s adoption of this unreasonable attack on lawful businesses that are the purveyors of our right to arms.

If you are not able to attend, please E-mail all the members of the Azusa City Council. Please be respectful but firm in your comments. The more people that voice their outrage, the more difficult it is for them to ignore us.

There is still time to help defeat the adoption of this ordinance, and the NRA-CRPA Local Ordinance Project, along with your help, plans to do just that.

Below is the contact information for for the Azusa City Council.

Mayor Joseph R. After reviewing all applications, the magazine staff and two outside judges narrowed the applicants to the Top Five companies. class="wp-caption-text">Frank Brownell - Brownells.com

Des Moines, Iowa – -(Ammoland.com)- Competition is a good thing. It always raises an interest in an area.

The traditional way to think of competition is there is only one winner at the end of the run. But that’s not how the marketplace really works.

To understand your market and how to reach it, we’ve come up with three ways of looking at competing in a competitive market place.

First, you must “Differentiate” yourself. Your offering of products and services should fill the basic needs of customers with the added twist of something greater or better than they can get from all those other folks out there trying to sell to the same customer.

As a Gunsmith or Gun Shop, you’ll compete with “big box” stores that have overlapping items at possibly better prices than yours. Then there are the “trunk of his car” guys who can deliver products right now to be used in the field – but their primary warehouse is what they’re carrying with them to sell to some of the shooters at the range, or other competitors at a match.

Obviously, if you have a bricks-and-mortar location, you will fall somewhere between these two in size and floor space. All three types of businesses bring great value to the outdoor market. But, to succeed, you need to do something with your store or your staff that takes you out of the background noise and gets people thinking about you as the place to go.

Examples of effective differentiation could be making your shop the local Three Gun Shop or catering to Western shooters or being the big Custom rifle/pistol/shotgun shop in your area. Or have the best selection of optics and service ’em all, offer the best custom ammo loads, post all the local match scores on the wall, have a wonderful layaway program, or . . . So you’re going to have to do your homework. Spend some time wandering through other stores for some ideas. Read their newspaper ads and local channel TV and radio ads. Learn what they’re doing, but don’t copy it. Come up with something that will cause the customers out there to recognize that you’re different, you’ll treat them better, or offer a unique service the other guys don’t have.

OK – so think outside the box; come up with a neat, recognizable, marketable way to make you stand out from the crowd.

Second, try “Clustering”. Try to get a group of “Like-hobby” suppliers and services to open up shops in the same neighborhood or strip mall or area. Think about it. If you’re a gunsmith, why not open up close to a full-line sporting goods store? Then the customer can buy some of their stuff over there and bring it to you to put together or mount or adjust to fit or whatever. Carry the idea further . . . using the concept of “Coopetiton”, you link up with all kinds of folks and shops serving the same customers, but each of you has something unique to differentiate your shop, as we discussed above. You can link up with shooting ranges, taxidermists, guides/guide services, archery shops, or reloading shops. The whole idea is to be cooperating and competing together. The key to “coopetition” is to specialize but be in the same marketplace.

Third, Understand Your Customer. Really finding out what your customers want and what their future needs will be is a tricky business. You can find out by asking them, doing a survey, or by just checking the sales slips copies and making a chart. You’ll soon know – and then you can use that knowledge to do a better job of differentiating, of knowing which product areas have growth potential for your shop.

For instance, Iowa is a shotgun-only state for deer – except for 2 rows of counties on our Iowa/Missouri border where rifles can be used. Therefore, your customer analysis and common sense will tell you not to load up on centerfire rifle ammo or rifles for deer season. However, figuring out the deer slugs in all of their permutations and finding out which your customers like to shoot would definitely be a step in the right direction. And could easily lead to that necessary differentiation I talked about earlier.

Today’s competition requires you to meet a minimum threshold of competency in your gunsmithing or your outdoor retailing, with the added twist of a specialization – say in competition rifles, three gun, concealed carry, or range experience – tagged onto your retail store. Having the same products and going head to head with more established large retailers is a recipe for disaster. Nobody wants that.

So, think about the above guidelines. Figure out how to make your shop unique, how to hook up with customer-connected specialty shops, and really understand your customers. All basic requirements for your shop to succeed.

Well, yes, it might be tough. But thinking outside your comfort zone, your “box” as it were, might just be the place to start!

About:
AmmoLand Gun News

Grand Junction, CO --(Ammoland.com)- Prior to my running firearm and military magazines and now a firearms industry public relation company I was literally raised in retail sporting goods operations.

Early on in my dads store I learned that customer relations is certainly key.

Later in life (after some significant PR and personnel positions in corporate management) I managed a large (at that time) sporting goods store for a major retail chain.

I still like going to gun shops and sporting goods stores to just see how they do what they do. While in the particular store I listen in on the interactions between customers and sales people and check out the store operation in general. I wish I could say things are better than my retail days, but I think there is a lot of room for improvement.

Years ago most store management typically would do some training of sales clerks; nowadays they hire someone who may know about guns, stick them behind a counter and let them loose. Yet that person may have no idea how to sell or merchandise the operation and selling and merchandising are different from just knowing about guns.

Weapons or Guns
They (and unfortunately many in the firearms industry and our media) still use the term “weapon” rather than rifle, pistol, revolver, shotgun, gun or firearm. Years ago I pitched and pressured the NRA and NSSF to start some type of reeducation program to reposition the term “assault rifle” when referring to “semi-automatic military look alike rifles” (my term).

Both “assault rifle” and “weapon” are consistently used by anti-Second Amendment people and groups. Why those of us in the industry still use these inflammatory and more importantly, inaccurate anti-gun terms is beyond me.

After all a baseball bat is just a baseball bat until it is used against a human; only then does it become a weapon.

An assault rifle is a government issued carbine sized combat firearm that is both semi- and full-auto capable which fires a mid-power cartridge. For example the Springfield M1-A is not an assault rifle and its military brother the M-14 is classed as a main battle rifle due to the gun’s size and full power caliber.

A semi-automatic AR-15 type rifle is not an assault rifle or a weapon; it is a semi-automatic rifle or carbine; a M-16 is an assault rifle.

The NSSF (which runs the SHOT Show) to their credit coined and now promotes their term “Modern Sporting Rifle” when referring to lookalike military rifles. And this is accurate as these are modern rifles; now available in many calibers other than the .5.56mm NATO round and they are used for plinking, competition, hunting, etc.

So let’s all of us, gun writers, PR people, publications, bloggers, newsletters, retailers, shooters, gun companies and the firearm and sporting media in general stop using the terms “weapon and assault rifle.”

These terms are incorrect, inflammatory, and play into the hands of anti-gun people.

Additional Retail Tips
Some additional suggestions that might help with retail store sales. Never have empty shelves. If you don’t have the items then spread your inventory. I realize that when it comes to displaying ammo or gunpowder you can’t fill that possibly tagged spot but you could put in a box with a label that suggests when you might get more. I have gone into stores that have several feet of linear shelf space empty—this makes the store look vacant (like they are going out of business), slip shod and discourages sales of other products. Spread the inventory even if it is only one item deep.

Keep your inventory, displays and shelves dust free. If you want to present a perception to customers you have old stuff and kill sales in a New York second, have dirty or dusty merchandise and displays. A new box of ammunition with a coating of dust is seen as an old box of ammunition and shows the store does not maintain their merchandise. Automobile dealers work like crazy to keep their cars clean because it helps sales, creates a good image and reflects positively on their business—firearm retailers should do the same.

I watch employees not busy with customers milling around chatting it up with each other or in smaller operations the counter guy is reading a magazine or just hanging around. When not busy, these folks should be dusting merchandise, working displays and merchandising. Store management should educate them in the correct use of dust rags and feather dusters (if they know themselves).

When selling to a customer who is unsure of what they should purchase, ask questions of the customer—lots of questions. For example, who is the gun for: are they experienced: how often do they shoot: how big are they; what do they most want the gun for; what is their second use; what is their budget; etc. Then a sales person can begin intelligently and patiently explain what he might suggest and why by detailing certain applicable calibers, firearm size, finish, grips, power, ease of complication of operation to them, etc.

The key in talking to gun buyers is not to try to be superior; they have tried it with me. It is the clerk’s mission to sell merchandise, not be a jerk. Superior selling is insulting and I have no patience for it. I have been in some stores where a clerk has tried that with me and I am able to quickly put them in their place by going far beyond what they tell me right back at them—I am not new to firearms. In cases like this I must admit, I like watching the faces of these guys with superior demeanors collapse.

A clerk should have patience in pointing out the key features and know how to explain the benefits of those features. The new gun owner is relying on knowledge and patience; they should not have to apologize for needing help. And should the customer apologize the clerk should quickly counter with something like “Don’t apologize, none of us is a born shooter, we all had to learn about guns, I am here to help you.”

Bottom line, retailers are in business to service customers. By doing a good job of doing just that they get the sale and they will also get the repeat business because caring about the customer means business and happy customers will pass on the word.

About:<br

Take advantage of this limited time offer and visit your local Franchi dealer. Act fast, this offer ends November 30, 2011.

Franchi I-12 – Every I-12 Franchi shotgun is powered by the Inertia Driven System. That means no bulky gas cylinders, valves, pistons, or hardware. Without the extra baggage, the I-12 has a slender, low-profile fore-end that fits the shooter’s hand for comfortable handling.

The I-12 series from Franchi has a shotgun model for nearly any kind of hunting. The I-12 in Max-4 HD is an ideal choice as a waterfowl gun. For an all-purpose hunting or turkey gun, select the I-12 in APG HD. The I-12 with a black synthetic stock is an excellent all-around shotgun.

Renaissance – The Franchi Renaissance over & under shotgun is a work of art. The receiver of each of these Franchi shotguns is precision machined from a solid billet of aluminum alloy, which is steel reinforced in critical areas. Extra material is removed, and the findal product is an over & under 12-gauge shotgun that weights an incredibly light 6 pounds. Until now, an over & under this light was unheard of because no lightweight alloys were strong enough to hold up to steady shooting without delivering punishing recoil. Now, however, Franchi engineers have developed an innovative Twin Shock-Absorber™ recoil pad with a special gel insert that absorbs up to 44-percent of the felt recoil.

For more information and to download the rebate form, please visit Ammoland.com)- AcuSport Corporation, a leading distributor of shooting and hunting products, provides customized solutions that are specifically designed to increase the growth and profitability of independent retail businesses through their CustomerLink brand.

The e-OnLine ordering system is a key component of that offering. The system provides retailers with a full-featured, state-of-the-art platform to research and order products. AcuSport is pleased to release the latest edition of e-OnLine to their retailer base today.

AcuSport is committed to providing retailers with the best online ordering system in the industry. Several months of research that included numerous focus group sessions, retailer visits, and user surveys went into the development of the new system. The resulting solution improves on the system that is already identified as the leading ordering website in the industry. Enhanced search and navigation makes it easier for users to find the products they need, monitor availability on merchandise they want, and replenish standard stocking items with the press of a button.

Users will find the new version of e-Online functionally very similar to the existing ordering system making the transition to the new site very easy. For example, core features such as “dealer lock” and our 2% release discount will not change with this new version.

“Based on feedback from our retailers, the goal when building the new system was to keep the functionality as close to the existing system as possible,” stated Electronic Business Manager, Mark Albright. “While the user will find some new features and things may look a little different, the new site is basically the same e-OnLine system our retailers are accustomed to using, only better!”

FFLGuard

New York City, NY --(Ammoland.com)- FFLGuard, a cooperative legal program offered to Federal Firearms Licensees by The Chiafullo Group, LLP (“the Group”), a law firm based in New Jersey, provides cost-effective and specialized legal counsel to independent gun retailers in the event of a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco , Firearms and Explosives (“BATFE”) compliance inspection, or in defense of civil litigation aimed at scrutinizing the retailer’s business practices. FFLGuard has experienced increased demand as the program has caught the attention of clients across the nation who face similar legal obstacles in their marketplaces.

Christopher Chiafullo, attorney and founder of the FFLGuard program, currently serves as its National Coordinating Counsel and Director of Special Operations. Chiafullo works with subject matter experts and firearms-specific counsel to develop FFLGuard’s “Law Plus Guidelines” and deliver the unique legal program nationwide, affording cost-effective compliance solutions to over 200 FFL’s in 36 states. Chiafullo recently asked attorney David Goldman, to join the FFLGuard program. He joins a growing and impressive group of experts in FFLGuard’s Special Operations Branch.

Mr. Goldman, founder of the Apple Law Firm of Jacksonville, FL, will provide his National Firearms Act (“NFA”) Trust expertise to the FFLGuard program. Specifically, FFLGuard will refer clients (and their retail customers) to Mr. Goldman and his network of Gun Trust Lawyers to utilize his expertise developing Gun Trusts for NFA firearms and collectors of firearms in every state where FFLGuard has clients.

“NFA Trusts,” “Firearms Trusts,” “Title II Trusts,” and “Class 3 Trusts” are all a specific type of legal instrument called “Revocable Living Trusts,” that deal with the unique issues of owning, transferring, and possessing Title II firearms (silencers, short barrel rifles and shotguns, AOWs and machine guns).

When individuals purchase a Title II firearm sold by a Dealer with a Class 3 SOT, the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the city or county where the individual resides is required to sign a document called a Form 4. This sometimes leads to delay or disappointment. Yet individuals can legally purchase and own a Title II firearms through a NFA Trust, wherein the Trust (not the individual) actually purchases and holds title to the restricted firearm or gun.

The NFA trust is not required to submit fingerprints nor seek the approval of the local chief of police. Instead the federal government will verify and investigate the application. Many individuals prefer the NFA Trust over creating a corporation or LLC to do the same thing because the NFA Trust is less expensive to operate, deals with issues of incapacity and death, and provides greater privacy as to who owns the Class 3 firearms.

“The ability to assist current and prospective FFLGuard clients with access to Mr. Goldman and his Gun Trust Lawyers will help our clients sell more products under their Class III License to qualified retail customers, while still keeping in line with our ‘Law Plus Guideline’ philosophy,” states Chiafullo. “We understand that the right to bear arms is a constitutional right that is always ‘under fire’ by current state and federal laws. Giving our FFLGuard clients better legal tools to comply with state and federal laws is part of our obligation to them, and aligning with David [Goldman] adds the bonus feature of giving our clients a ‘value-added’ service they can share with their customers.” Chiafullo added, “[if] both our clients and their customers have better access to and understanding of NFA Trusts, then it’s a win- win-win for the industry, FFLGuard, and the Title II weapon-buying public.”

“This is the next step for our program as we continue to provide superior legal counsel to the independent firearms retailer,” Chiafullo said.

If retailers are interested in joining FFLGuard or would like additional information on the FFLGuard program, please visit www.fflguard.com or call 1-888-FFL-GRD1 (1-888-335-4731). Also, anyone can follow Mr. Chiafullo on Twitter: @FFLGuard.
Tags: <a
