Rock Island Auction Company - -(AmmoLand.com)- This is a  rare 54-3/8″ wide, 41″ tall oak frame holding a 46-1/4″ wide, 33 1/2″ tall UMC cartridge board.

The lower edge of the frame has a 41 1/2” plaque with scrolls on each end and “THE UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO.” in 2 inch high letters, 3/16 inches thick.

The whole plaque was decorated with gold paint. A smaller (23 1/2 inch) plaque at the top has similar decoration on the end and “TRADE U.M.C. MARK” in rectangular boxes across the center.

A diamond in the center of the board has a painted mountain scene with elk superimposed over the U.M.C. mark. Cartridges include rimfires to .58 Springfield, centerfires to 1 inch Gatling shotgun to 4 gauge in both paper and brass.

There is a box for caps, primers and wads but is empty. The items are replaced with a labeled photograph of the missing items.

Rock Island Auction Company - -(AmmoLand.com)- This is an expertly made recreation of a Smith & Wesson Volcanic style lever-action pistol.

These type of pistols were the predecessors of the Volcanic and New Haven Arms/Winchester lever action firearms.

This particular pistol has a half-round/half-octagon barrel with front-loading integral magazine. The pistol has an iron frame and loading lever with round finger hole and attached spur.

The two-piece grips are rosewood with flat bottoms and a varnish finish. The barrel has a pinched steel front sight blade. A fixed rear sight is located on the receiver.

The sides of the receiver are decorated with simple scroll engraving and the top of the receiver is engraved with a leaf motif.

The top barrel flat is roll-stamped with the legend: “SMITH & WESSON/NORWICH CT./PATENT/CAST STEEL”. The pistol functions fine with slight timing issues.

This pistol is extremely difficult to distinguish from an original example which is almost non-existent (and worth many of tens of thousands of dollars).

ALBUQUERQUE, NM --(AmmoLand.com)- Hunters, anglers and other outdoor adventurers are invited to join the Department of Game and Fish this weekend at the state fairgrounds, where visitors will find information about upcoming seasons, all-terrain vehicle riding, the latest gear and more.

Bob Gerding’s Outdoor Adventure and Hunting and Fishing Show will be from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Manuel Lujan Building at EXPO New Mexico, also known as the state fairgrounds. Admission is $8 for adults and free for children ages 11 and younger.

The Department will be at the show with the new Big-Game rules and Information Booklets, 2010-2011 hunting applications and plenty of advice about hunting and fishing rules and the best places to try your luck.

If you’re interested in all-terrain vehicles, the Department will have an ATV simulator that will give riders a hands-on feel for the ride while emphasizing safety. The simulator is used in Wyoming schools to teach safety and ethics. The Department is exploring various methods used by other states to teach young ATV riders as the agency develops its ATV safety training program.

“The purpose of the simulator is to give people of all ages a hands-on learning experience in a completely controlled environment,” said David Chester, off-highway vehicle coordinator for the Department. “A student can actually learn proper riding techniques on the simulator and feel the sensational differences that leaning or standing incorrectly will cause on different terrain.”

This is the 12th year for the popular show that features exhibits from guides, outfitters and lodges from around the country. An African safari outfitter also is scheduled to attend.

Ride an ATV Simulator At Annual Hunting And Fishing Show

State Chapter’s Southeastern Call Maker’s Competition as well as the annual Tar Heel Open turkey calling contest on March 6.

Las Vegas, NV --(AmmoLand.com)- At the SHOT Show’s annual State of the Industry Dinner, NSSF President Steve Sanetti noted that the firearms industry had a very good year despite a national economy that was clearly stuck in neutral.

“With sales and revenues in much of our industry at a decade-long high despite the worst recession in a generation, we have thrived,” Sanetti said in the annual speech to members of the industry.

At the start of 2010, he said, the industry remains strong — and that by working together as an industry in meeting the challenges that lay ahead, it will continue to thrive.

“I have to say that the state of the industry in 2010, at the beginning of the second decade of the 21st century, is about as strong as I’ve seen it,” Sanetti said. “Working together, staving off the challenges as we take advantage of the many opportunities we have with millions of new firearms owners that have joined our ranks since we last met in Orlando, we will all, individually and collectively, make a difference.”

Sanetti attributed some of the industry’s success to the contributions of those in the business.

“All of you have contributed so much — not just because of your successful business efforts, but by your presence here, you’ve shown that you care deeply about our enterprise and our precious way of life. Your membership in the NSSF and your participation in this greatest annual industry gathering help us help you, by funding those programs that help us fulfill our mission — to promote, protect and preserve hunting and the shooting sports,” Sanetti said.

Sanetti concluded by thanking the audience for their “support of the SHOT Show, the shooting sports, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and most importantly, for helping us nurture those values we all care so much about, that constitute the very best of our American way of life.”

State of the Shooting Sports Industry

Las Vegas, NV --(AmmoLand.com)- With firearms and ammunition sales having surged last year in a struggling economy, there were many positive signs this week at the industry’s annual trade show — the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show — that indicated sales will remain robust in 2010.

The show’s return to Las Vegas sparked a rise in attendance over the previous year, with buyers packing exhibit booths to review products and then placing orders on the latest shooting, hunting and outdoor gear.

Overall attendance was 58,444, only several hundred shy of the show’s all-time record set at the 2008 Las Vegas Show and more than 11,000 above last year’s show in Orlando. The show attracted an all-time high of 31,280 buyers, and the 1,804 media professionals attending established a new record.

The SHOT Show filled the Sands Expo & Convention Center for four days, January 19-22, reaffirming its stature as the world’s premier exposition of firearms, ammunition, outdoor and tactical apparel, optics, cutlery, camping and related products and services. The show is owned and sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the firearms industry’s trade association.

From the opening to closing bells, the mood was upbeat. Retailers like Glenn Duncan, owner of Duncan’s Outdoor Shop in Bay City, Mich., said he values the SHOT Show for the opportunity it affords to learn about exciting new products. “It’s good to see the industry offering so many new products — guns, ammunition, targets and more — and I really appreciated that the exhibitors were willing to take the time to give me the attention I needed.” Among the products Duncan found interesting were new models of firearms introduced by Taurus International and Smith & Wesson, and Winchester’s 410 ammo.

Manufacturers like Dwight Van Brunt of Kimber were equally pleased. “This is an amazing show,” said Van Brunt. “We came in with some trepidation, wondering if it was going to be busy the whole time. We were slammed 45 minutes into the show. You couldn’t see the color of my carpet, and it stayed that way for the first two days. This show is great.”

Scott Hanes of Remington Arms said, “There’s a lot of excitement, and people are very positive. I was a little surprised that there would be this big of a positive attitude at this time of year because last year was so big. You figure you’re going to have a little bit of a downfall later on. I’m not seeing it.”

Mike Slack of optics company Leupold & Stevens said, “This booth has been absolutely flooded with people. I can’t remember a busier SHOT Show ever.” He added, “How could you not come to the SHOT Show? If you’re a dealer, this is the place to be. You just can’t miss it.”

Professional shooter Doug Koenig, who was representing Smith & Wesson, said, “It’s been packed, every day, non-stop, all day. And the buzz has been really good. I think it’s going to be another great year for Smith & Wesson.”

Greg Sesselmann of Scent-Lok said, “This is where we get to communicate with each other. People are generating business, coming up with new ideas. There’s that synergy of working together on these things that you just can’t do over the phone.”

Exhibiting companies numbered 1,633 — about 125 of them international — covering 700,000 net square feet in the convention center’s halls and the Venetian Hotel’s meeting rooms.

The show got off to a grand start at NSSF’s opening-night State of the Industry Dinner, where NSSF President Steve Sanetti welcomed more than 1,500 industry professionals, saying, “With sales and revenues in much of our industry at a decade-long high despite the worst recession in a generation, we have thrived. I have to say that the state of the industry in 2010 is about as strong as I’ve seen it. We have millions of new firearms owners that have joined our ranks since we last met in Orlando — a testament to the popularity of firearms ownership in America and proof that hunting and target shooting remain popular activities among all ages.”

Comedian Dennis Miller provided the evening’s entertainment. Many celebrities were on hand at the show, including actor Seven Seagal, who is launching a new line of tactical gear.

“My impression of the SHOT Show is it’s amazing,” said Seagal. “It’s probably the greatest gathering of special technology for police and military I’ve ever seen in one place. It’s extremely impressive.”

In addition to the sale of hunting and shooting gear, the SHOT Show is known for its many educational seminars for firearms retailers. The pre-show SHOT Show University seminars were completely full and featured presentations by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and marketing experts. For the first time, the show provided seminars for law enforcement professionals, sponsored by NSSF and Law Officer Magazine, which complemented the show’s law enforcement product section.

The record turnout of members of the outdoor media was notable since the press publicizes the show’s many products to their hunting and shooting readers and viewers.

J. Wayne Fears, outdoor writer, said, “I’ve been coming to every SHOT Show since the first one in 1979. It’s extremely valuable in that I get an opportunity in one place to meet all of the people who produce the products that I write about.”

At the State of the Industry Dinner, veteran journalist Dave Petzal of Field & Stream received the Grits Gresham Shooting Sports Communicator Award presented by the Professional Outdoor Media Association.

NSSF took the opportunity at a press conference to correct confusion about one of the industry’s most misunderstood products, the AR-style modern sporting rifle. NSSF reinforced that modern sporting rifles are semi-automatic, firing one round with each pull of the trigger, that they are widely used for target shooting and hunting, and that they should not be confused with similar looking military rifles.

Prior to the show, NSSF presented Clark County officials with an award of appreciation for realizing a 25-year effort to open the world-class Clark County Shooting Park. NSSF also recognized the important role Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and the rest of the state’s congressional delegation played in securing the federal assistance necessary to make the park a reality.

Next year’s SHOT Show is slated for January 18-21, 2011, at the Sands Expo & Conference Center in Las Vegas.

National Wild Turkey Federation

EDGEFIELD, S.C. —-(AmmoLand.com)-With a brand new county-fair-style Friday night auction and another star-studded entertainment lineup, the National Wild Turkey Federation’s convention and sport show in Nashville is sure to be a hit with outdoor enthusiasts.

The 34th annual NWTF National Convention and Sport Show is scheduled for Feb. 18-21 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center.

“Top entertainers are headlining the evening functions and the auctions include some of the most sought-after items we have ever featured,” said NWTF CEO George Thornton. “If you want a chance to bid on African safaris, new vehicles, hunting trips around the world and more, then this is the place to be. This has a chance to be our biggest and best convention ever.”

The convention, sponsored by MidwayUSA , kicks off with the Welcome Party on Thursday, Feb. 18, when soulful country music group Little Big Town will take attendees out to the “Boondocks.” The party will be emceed by NWTF National Spokespersons Michael Waddell and Brenda Valentine.

On Friday afternoon, auction goers will get the opportunity to bid on hunting trips from around the world at the Grand National Hunt Auction and Luncheon. From deer in Illinois to doves in Argentina and turkeys from Mexico to Florida, attendees can bid to hunt just about anywhere.

As Friday afternoon turns to evening, the party will continue at the Wild Turkey Bourbon Bash at 5:30 p.m. With drink specials, giveaways and a performance by Colt Ford, thanks to Mossy Oak and the Pursuit Channel, the bash is a popular way to start the weekend.

The evening will unveil the brand new Grand National Fair and Auction, which will offer attendees county-fair-style games to play, a buffet-style meal, and some of the most unique items and trips ever auctioned at the convention. Headlining the auction items is a highly coveted elk hunt in Kentucky. Auction goers also can bid on a Yamaha Rhino, a custom engraved Parker double-barrel shotgun, a commercial lawnmower from Dixie Chopper and a lot more.

At the Saturday night Awards Banquet, legendary country comedian Jeff Foxworthy is sure to lighten the mood as the NWTF recognizes its volunteers from all over North America for their hard work.

“The Awards Banquet is our way of thanking our chapters and members for their dedicated volunteerism and direct, positive impact on wild turkeys and conservation,” said Thornton. “This will be a night to remember.”

• State Chapter Presidents and Provincial Leaders Breakfast with the NWTF National Board of Directors – Thursday, Feb. 18, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
• Federal Breakfast – Friday, Feb. 19, from 7:15 a.m. to 9 a.m.
• Winchester Veterans Breakfast (With remarks by Gen. James T. Conway, 34th commandant of U.S. Marine Corps.) – Saturday, Feb. 20, from 7:15 a.m. to 9 a.m.
• Remington Arms Breakfast – Sunday, Feb. 21, from 7:10 a.m. to 9 a.m.

In addition to the Friday auctions, the Ladies Pink Champagne Brunch and Auction will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. Also on Saturday, anyone with a $12 general admission sport show pass is eligible to bid on items at the Open Auction.

NWTF Convention to Offer Exciting Banquets and Auctions

Austin, Texas --(AmmoLand.com)- Dear Peaceable Texan:

As many of you know, I am an attorney of two decades experience practicing law in Austin. I have been investigating the events surrounding the gunshow of last weekend where APD and ATF used intimidation tactics to pressure the landlord of the property to cancel future shows at the Crocket Center. The following is what I have learned from my review of the law and speaking to the promoter and an individual that had his private collection confiscated Saturday.

On Tuesday APD attempted to deflect public attention by implying that multiple arrests at the location gave the city grounds to prosecute the landlords for nuisance. I am attaching a copy of the TX nuisance statutes and as anyone who can read can see–they clearly do not apply here.

But what is really ridiculous about such a claim is that if arrests alone constitute grounds for nuisance, then every mall and HEB in the state would be nuisances since arrests for shoplifting occur at these locations constantly.

The Crocket Center is owned by Walmart and leased to HEB, who in turn subleases to another entity which in turn leases it one weekend a month to the gunshow promoter.

The individual who was hassled and had his half dozen firearms seized Saturday was a private citizen there to sell his collection. According to him, APD and/or ATF had a man approach him and offer to buy a gun; the man displayed a Texas Driver’s License to prove he was over 21. The sale was made and later APD officers roughly grabbed the shirt of the seller and marched him outside and accused him of selling to an illegal alien. This apparently is the latest tactic to entrap the unwary citizen in the ATF’s snare. As if anyone could possibly know the immigration or citizenship status of anyone else. Yet ATF seized all his firearms and told him the matter was “under investigation.” This, ladies and gentlemen, is the ‘possible illegal gun sale’ referred to as the reason for HEB to pull the plug on future shows in the Statesman article (attached).

The tyranny of these laws and the APD/ATF “stings” are self evident. The government allows literally millions of foreigners to enter our country and then uses them to set citizens up for prison time. We should all be asking: who was this illegal alien, and where is he now? Why is he free with a driver’s license in our state and why is he not being deported? I would venture a guess that since Austin is a “sanctuary city” the police did not detain this man or turn him over to immigration authorities; indeed, they probably rewarded him in some fashion to get his cooperation.

THIS IS INTOLERABLE. We citizens are being used and abused at every turn. Our government is using foreigners to set us up, steal our property, lock us up, and end the venerable cultural events we know as “gunshows.” I want to suggest that perhaps the better tactic to prevent sales to aliens is to REMOVE THEM FROM THE COUNTRY.

In my opinion the appropriate place to apply public pressure is with HEB, since they have the right to continue to allow gunshows at this location. They have no liability under the nuisance law, and they have teams of lawyers who can figure that out. I am sure they can read. A general boycott of HEB is called for if they assist the government in shutting down a gunshow.

The TSRA has refused to get involved. NRA is also, as usual, silent. Once they see the grassroots taking action though, I expect NRA and/or TSRA will step in to take credit for leading them.

Word has it–I have not confirmed this–that today at 3 p.m. at Red’s Indoor Range on Hwy 290 the NRA is presenting Gov. Perry with an award of some kind and endorsement in his bid for re-election. Some are planning to be there to politely bring this matter to his attention–and the NRA’s–because if they are going to pretend to be pro-gun rights they need to actually DO SOMETHING to defend them.

Austin Texas Gunshow Update

FRISCO, Texas —-(AmmoLand.com)- Outdoor television star Michael Waddell likes to have fun and that’s exactly what he and everyone else are in for at the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Cottonwood Creek Chapter Banquet on Jan. 27 in Frisco, Texas.

NWTF National Spokesperson, Michael Waddell, will join NWTF volunteers in Frisco, Texas for the Federation’s Cottonwood Creek Chapter Banquet on Jan. 27.

Funding for conservation projects and outreach programs in Texas would not be possible without the Federation’s dedicated volunteers and successful local fundraising events like the upcoming one in Frisco.

Single tickets cost $75, couples tickets cost $110 and sponsorship tickets are $300. All attendees receive a meal ticket, an NWTF membership and a one-year subscription to Turkey Country magazine.

For those who want to sponsor the event and bring a crowd, ticket packages are available for parties of eight and 12 and range from $850 to $1,500. All packages include meals, NWTF memberships and magazine subscriptions for everyone. Some packages even include a guaranteed winning ticket for a gun!

As an NWTF National Spokesperson and host of “Realtree Roadtrips” and “Bone Collector” television shows, Waddell travels the country proclaiming his love for the outdoors and his support of the NWTF.

FAIRFAX, VA –-(AmmoLand.com)- The National Rifle Association’s Hunter Services Department will be hosting the first NRA Great American Hunting and Outdoor Show in just two weeks. The event will be held January 29-31, 2010 at the Carroll County Agriculture Center Shipley Arena in Westminster, Maryland.

Many of the East Coast’s top hunting, outdoor, and shooting sports retailers will be exhibiting, including numerous outfitters and guides such as Gsell’s Whitetail Refuge. Nationally-known hunting and outdoor personalities will also be speaking at seminars during the show including Ralph and Vicki Cianciarulo of Archer’s Choice Media and Ray Eye of “Eye on the Outdoors” and “Winchester Turkey Revolution.”

Other features include the NRA Mason/Dixon Big Buck Contest and the Great American Whitetail Collection, which will showcase fifty of the largest and highest-scoring whitetails in the world. The United States Fish and Wildlife Service’s Federal Duck Stamp collection will also be on display.

“The inaugural NRA Great American Hunting and Outdoor Show is full of exhibitors, interesting seminars, and exciting features for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages,” said Bill Poole, Director of NRA’s Education & Training Division. “Our flagship event will also help promote hunting and introduce people to all that the NRA does for hunters.”

Visitors to the ISE can learn fishing strategies and techniques for mastering the streams, still and salty waters of Colorado, the West, Mexico, South America, Canada, Alaska and around the world.

Local company Freestone Aquatics, Inc. will provide live trout—some to 10 pounds, including Kamloops, Eagle Lake and Donaldson Rainbows, Brookies, and browns. To be planted in local waters after the show, the fish will be on display in the 30-foot-long, 5,000-gallon, glass-walled demonstration tank sponsored by the World Fishing Network (WFN) and FishExplorer.com. Also at the tank, visitors can meet and get an autographed photo of angling personality Mariko Izumi, host of WFN’s “Hookin’ Up.” WFN, which just opened a bureau in Denver, is the only 24/7 fishing channel (www.wfn.tv).

The Discover Fly Fishing Pavilion, sponsored by the American Fly Fishing Trade Association, is a 40,000-sq.-ft. show within the 300,000-sq.-ft expo. Focused on gear and teaching the sport, the pavilion spotlights nine fly-fishing retailers, virtually all major product manufacturers, Fly-Fishing Learning Center, Fly-Fishing Theater, two fly-casting lesson ponds, a Fly-Tying Video Theater, and author’s book-signing booth. Fishing enthusiasts will also want to see the Colorado premiere of “Rise”, a 70-minute film produced by Confluence Films. Shown on a huge screen in Upper Lobby D Saturday evening, the film will raise money for Colorado Trout Unlimited. “Rise” chronicles an action-packed fly-fishing journey shot in Los Roques, Venezuela; Idaho’s Henry’s Fork; the Florida Keys; Patagonia, Argentina; New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana; and the Katmai Region of Alaska.

Parents will want to take their kids to the 10,000-sq.-ft. “Youth Outdoor Sports Fair,” sponsored by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (www.wildlife.state.co.us). The Fair caters to youth and encourages them to learn more and to participate in outdoor activities. Children can learn to fish at the catch-and-release glass-walled tank stocked with Colorado trout (guides and gear provided free); practice archery under the guidance of the Colorado Bowhunters Association; and see live wild birds from the Raptor Education Foundation (www.usaref.org).

CDOW also is teaming nature with technology in a new program co-sponsored by the Raptor Education Foundation and Best Buy. The web-based education program encourages visitors to play the “Nature Hunt” game, which includes questions on hunting, fishing, conservation and natural history. Players can also enter to win laptop computers (one will be given away each day of the show). Best Buy will also present a Wii fishing game for visitors of all ages.

New to the expo this year, a 6,000-sq.-ft. archery range, controlled by computer and featuring three-dimensional, moving (pop-up) targets, will host a contest.

Also new is the Best-of-the-West DockDogs Contest. Dockdogs (www.dockdogs.com) is the world’s leading water-dog-jumping organization. In the competition, dogs will jump off dock into a water-filled pool and are judged for distance, height and endurance. Two winners from the ISE competition will be invited to DockDogs World Championships next July.

The Sporting-Dog Arena will feature snake-aversion training, the Larimer County Search and Rescue Team, Agility Dogs and, of course, professional trainers, including local champions Tom Herman and Grits.

Rocky Mountain Region’s Largest Outdoor Adventure Show

Manassas, VA, - -(AmmoLand.com)- Anyone who does not hold an FFL and sells a firearm to someone he doesn’t know well is incurring a certain amount of liability. And, a bit of bad judgment could cause trouble not just for the seller, but for the rest of the gun owning community as well. There is no question that individuals have the right to buy, sell, and trade firearms between themselves without government infringement. But there are laws on the books and failing to know and follow them is just asking for trouble. A prudent trader will take into account not only the legal technicalities, but the political environment also.

Title 18, Section 922 of the U.S. Code, the 1968 Gun Control Act, covers sales and transfer of guns. The law forbids transfers between residents of different states except through an FFL in the buyer’s state. Of course it is also illegal for a federally “prohibited person” – a felon, fugitive, someone dishonorably discharged from the service, etc. – to purchase a firearm from anyone, FFL dealer or not. If the seller has any indication that the prospective buyer is a “prohibited person,” selling the gun is a crime. It is also illegal for anyone to purchase a firearm on behalf of someone else – even if that someone else could legally purchase it himself – and a seller can again be held criminally responsible if they had any indication that such a “straw” transaction was taking place.

Any sale in violation of the 1968 Gun Control Act and its subsequent amendments exposes traders to serious criminal liability – as much as five years and $5,000 for every violation. And when those sales happen at a gun show it does grave harm to the gun show industry and the entire Second Amendment movement.

Given the legislative threats and the political climate – with Bloomberg and his anti-gun mayors, the Brady Bunch, and various reporters and other scoundrels routinely targeting gun shows with hidden cameras and sting operations – it is wise for traders and gun show promoters to engage in some self-regulation to keep the government from coming in and doing the regulating for us. The trick is to solve, or at least mitigate the problem without creating worse problems in the process.

As with most problems, the solution here begins with education, so smart gun show promoters are making an effort to make sure that everyone selling at their shows understands the basics of the laws. The next step is procedural: Making sure sellers always ask the tough questions and get clear answers. Some promoters are solving that problem with a simple form issued to non-FFL sellers. A good form is like an abbreviated 4473. It informs the buyer of the legal requirements while it asks them disqualifying questions and collects identifying information. The seller keeps the part with the drivers license number and signature, the buyer gets a part with the sellers ID as a receipt, and the gun show checks receipts at the door. Nobody else gets a copy. By mandating use of such forms gun show promoters protect themselves and their business as well as providing some legal cover for their sellers. Since there is no government involvement and no centralized storage of records, the privacy of both buyer and seller are also protected.

Most sellers won’t make a sale if they catch a hint of impropriety, and smart sellers always take down the buyer’s drivers license information as a precaution. But not all sellers are that prudent. A foolish few think they are “safe” if they take a “don’t ask, don’t tell” approach, avoiding any question of the buyers’ legal status and studiously not noticing if the buyer says something that might indicate ineligibility. They delude themselves. Even though it is highly unlikely that a buyer is breaking the law or that a particular gun will ever be remotely connected to a crime, that rare exception can not just ruin your day, it can ruin your decade, and provide ammo to the enemy. Anyone making a private sale to anyone they don’t know well should always get a signed statement of eligibility and a drivers license number. Buyers should be concerned about identifying the seller as well, just in case.

The public’s lack of understanding of the so-called gun show loophole issue, and the complexity of trying to explain it, has placed gun shows and all private transactions in the political crosshairs. If gun show promoters, exhibitors, and attendees don’t accelerate efforts to mitigate the issue, the gun shows – and all private transfers – could be just a fond memory in the not too distant future.

Husband and wife hunters, Lee and Tiffany Lakosky, are best known as stars of Getting’ Close–one of the highest-rated shows in outdoor television–and their newest show, The Crush with Lee & Tiffany.

“What can I say… people just love Lee and Tiffany,” says O’Hara.

In addition to being celebrities, the Lakoskys are very accomplished hunters. They spend countless hours sharpening their hunting skills and actively managing their land for trophy whitetails in eastern Iowa.

Many hunters recognize the couple from the widespread use of many of their trophy photos and magazine articles which have appeared in dozens of high profile publications and catalogs over the past few seasons.

Stan Potts–Appearing February 6-8
In 40 years of hunting, Stan Potts has harvested numerous whitetail bucks with a bow, three of which scored over 200 inches. He also took another 200 incher with a TC muzzleloader.

Potts gives hunting seminars all across North America and has been the subject of many feature magazine articles. His hunting successes have been featured in North American Whitetail magazine and several other media sources. He has appeared in several hunting videos and television shows, including Realtree Outdoors and Hunter’s Specialties Prime Time series. He is a co-host of North American Whitetail Television on the Outdoor Channel. He is also featured on Whitetail Country on ESPN and Hunt Masters on the Outdoor Channel. Pots hunts 100% wild whitetails on public and private property and is well known for his expertise in treestand placement and patterning bigger, mature bucks.

Ralph & Vicki Cianciarulo–Appearing February 6-9
Ralph and Vicki Cianciarulo, of Lanark, Illinois, are co-hosts of the award-winning Archer’s Choice and The Choice television shows.

Vicki Cianciarulo is credited with taking the largest wild white-tailed deer by a female on camera, with her Colorado buck scoring over 200 inches. She also has numerous black bear, caribou, moose, dall sheep, whitetail, mule deer, antelope, a turkey Grand Slam, and many different African species to her credit. Her history includes outfitting and guiding for both bear and deer, serving on conservation boards and editing and producing television shows.

Ralph Cianciarulo is a well-known international bowhunter, a noted videographer, a seminar speaker, and a TV personality for the Outdoor Channel.

“North America’s Favorite Hunting Couple,” the Cianciarulos have worked from the bottom up to earn a reputation that is second to none in the hunting industry.

Bob Clouser– Appearing February 12-13
Clouser’s love of the outdoors, especially fishing, led him into the fishing business. He continues to guide, teach and share his enjoyment with others. He will present casting demonstrations, using visual aids and casting weighted flies and lines, as well as lectures on “Fly Fishing for Smallmouth Bass” about catching smallmouth from top to bottom using flies and “Fly Fishing Adventures”, about various species that can be caught on fly rod and flies.

Clouser has received numerous awards for his strong conservation work including his induction into the national Fresh Water Fishing Hall of fame as Legendary Angler. In 2000, he was named National Angler of the Year by Fly Rod and Reel Magazine.

Mark Menendez– Appearing February 6-8
There are few bass fishing professionals on the national scene like Mark Menendez, who is currently ranked 17th in the world. On the water, the 44-year-old Paducah, Kentucky angler has spent the past 18 years earning the reputation of a warrior on tour. He finished fifth in the Angler-of-the-Year points, after winning the Lake Dardanelle tournament on the BASS Elite Series in 2009. His career earnings of more than $900,000 along with success in individual tournaments (three wins and 18 top-ten finishes) and season-long point standings are testament to his dedication and skill.

Menendez, who has fished the Bassmaster Tour since 1991, has held the record for the biggest bass, weighing 13-pounds, 9-ounces, ever caught in a bass tournament.
