Montezuma, Iowa --(AmmoLand.com)- Brownells, the Iowa-based gunsmith supply house, is pleased to announce that Chuck Grace, Vice President of the American Custom Gunmaker’s Guild, will be the Keynote Speaker at the company’s 4th Annual Gunsmith Career Fair which will be held April 23rd and 24th, 2010.

Chuck grew up in Michigan where he started working on guns at an early age. He furthered his education at Trinidad State Junior College, and immediately after graduation in 1973 he began his gunsmithing career.

In the early 1980s, a group of stockmakers and metalsmiths recognized the need for an organization to preserve and expand the craft of custom gunmaking. That led to the formation of the American Custom Gunmaker’s Guild at the 1983 NRA convention in Phoenix, AZ. In addition to serving as Vice President, Grace is also the Chairman of the Education Committee where he puts into action his belief that the key to preserving this honorable occupation is through the exchange of information.

He hopes to inspire those attending the Career Fair to advance their skills and share their techniques with other gunsmiths.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Chuck talk to everyone,” said Brownells CEO, Frank Brownell, “the man is a great gunmaker, a great representative for the Guild and I’m absolutely certain he will be a real inspiration for the attendees.”

The 4th Annual Gunsmith Career Fair will be held April 23rd and 24th, 2010 at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown. In addition to giving gunsmithing students and experienced gunsmiths the opportunity to interact with potential employers, the event includes seminars aimed at Business and Career Development. Seminar subjects for the event include: Obtaining a Small Business Loan; Creating A Business Plan; Accepting a Job Offer, and Marketing Your Business.

Montezuma, Iowa --(AmmoLand.com)- During 2009, the members of Brownells GunTech Staff took time away from answering customer questions to pass along their knowledge in various areas of the gunsmithing trade. Taking turns, all members of the group taught classes at several gunsmithing schools across the country.

According to Brownells CEO, Frank Brownell, “We’ve always believed that sharing information freely will make the gunsmithing profession stronger. It’s an honor to be able to send our guys out to share what they know. Our GunTechs have helped develop the products and processes they teach about, they know ‘how-to’ better than anyone.”

Almost 160 students attended 10 different classes at schools including Montgomery Tech, Trinidad State Junior College, Murray State College, Wabash Community College and Pennsylvania Gunsmithing School. Classes covered Alternate Finishes, Custom Bluing, AR-15/M16 Maintenance and Repair, Gunstock Refinishing and 1911 Building.

In addition to sending their GunTechs on the road, Brownells also hosted a weeklong series of classes on the Remington 870 and 700, Colt M16/AR-15 and 1911, plus a one day Glock Armorer Class – all taught by factory experts – at their Montezuma, Iowa facility.
