Ted is well known for his support of the 10mm as a hunting and self-defense caliber of choice.

After a few exchanges, a Wilson Combat Hunter in 10mm was on the way to him. Since then he has shared with me, on many occasions, how much he has enjoyed his Hunter.

Ted Nugent Poses with his Personal Wilson Combat Hunter in 10mm

So with his permission I have included a quote from him on the Wilson Combat Hunter in 10mm.

“My life is hunting and self defense, and my caliber of choice for more than 20 years is the mighty 10mm, especially in the full house Cor Bon ammo loads. I’ve taken big game across North America and Africa with various 10mm handguns, and also carry 10mm pistols as my daily sidearm.

I recently came into possession of a fine Wilson Combat Hunter 1911 in this ideal caliber, and cannot say enough glowing accolades about it. As is to be expected from the world class Wilson 1911 masters, this pistol is virtually flawless in form, function, accuracy and reliability. At the steel plate range, the perfectly balanced pistol points right where I’m looking, and in recent timed law enforcement qualifications, my center mass shots and speeds were equal to and better than my fellow LEOs shooting 9mm, .40 S&W and .45ACP.

At the 100 yard range, from a shooting bench and bags, 100% of my shots shooting Cor Bon 165 grain hollow points were all in the vitals of a full size deer target.

The trigger is crisp and clean, the sights clear and expeditious on target, and the overall feel of the handgun is everything a shootist could ask for.

For daily carry, backup in bear country, or as the pistol of choice as a main handgun hunting rig, the Wilson Combat Hunter is as good a choice as there is.”

Ted Nugent

Thanks Ted for telling us about your experience with the Hunter, and thanks for all of your support for the right to keep and bear arms. One of the things I enjoy most is when a customer contacts us to let us know their experiences with one of our products.

How cool is it when it is one of the best known advocates for our freedoms?

Wilson Combat Tactical Elite 1911 Handgun

Gun of the Month
This month’s Gun of the Month is the Tactical Elite. When the most discriminating customer is looking for the perfect combination of fighting gun with just the right features, the Tactical Elite is the pistol. Born from years of searching for the perfect combination of features for daily use and to be the first line of defense, this is the pistol for you.

Start with a hand fitted slide, frame, and add the heavy flanged cone match barrel and now you have the basis for one of the best pistols to place in your holster. The upfront weight provided by the flanged cone barrel makes for the faster follow-up shots, giving you the confidence necessary in your self-defense pistol. Fully checkered front strap for the best fighting grip, tactical ambi-safety allows for those times that may require weak hand shooting that can happen in real world confrontations, and Wilson Combat speed-chute for speedy reloads.

This pistol arrives equipped with Combat Pyramid Tritium night sights, zeroed and ready to go to work. The Tactical Elite is finished completely in black Armor-Tuff to not only look great, but to provide all the protection that your new custom pistol deserves. If a good looking pistol that allows for faster follow-up shots, with all the right features and nothing wasted, is what you are looking for, this should be your next pistol. Give us a call and get one on the way to you today, or order just the way you want it.

The Tactical Elite, as listed, is legal for sale in California.

Blade Show
On the agenda this last week was attending the Blade Show. Being only my second year to attend, I am still like a kid when I see all the custom knives and all the Master Blade Smiths. The works of art in steel are amazing and I am always mesmerized when I see the expressions of beauty in the form of a knife.

Since we have added custom knives to our product line, we have been working hard to fill the needs of our customers. The Custom Alliance offers the opportunity to buy a knife from one of today’s masters, ready for delivery, avoiding the wait that is necessary due to their back log of orders.

This past weekend I got the chance to spend some time with some of the greatest knife makers today, and while they are all very talented, Jason Knight is a real standout. His knives show the mastery of his craft, and getting to know him was a real pleasure. It is clear to me that he is not only a master blade smith, but an outstanding individual and I am proud to call him my friend. <a

Currently there is one other knife available through The <a

If you have the chance to attend the Blade Show, it is worth the trip. Every year the most talented knife makers in the world gather to show examples of their current and past creations. I am, and continue to be, amazed at the diversity that these craftsmen have on display. This annual gathering in Atlanta brings out the worlds most sought after Master Blade Smiths, as well as those who are just starting their journey to become renowned.

Like always, if we can be of help in any way, feel free to give us a call. class="wp-caption-text">Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR – -(AmmoLand.com)- I hope this finds you all healthy and happy. We are finally starting to see the exceptional weather we expect this time of year.

In years past this time was spent on the range, but with the addition of kids, I spend more and more time with them on their activities.

While I have never had any interest in Baseball, with my son starting to play I have been attending some games. After last Saturday’s practice he asked about doing some shooting, so I know he is certainly my son. I will, like I am guessing most of you, try to find time to fit it all in and make the most of the summer. It seems range time has become over the years something of a premium. I hope to carve out some quality time to spend on the range this summer and maybe even shoot a match or two.

I have noticed an interesting change in my focus of late. The older my kids get and the more we are trying to fit in the activities that come with them growing up, I am not only reminded how important self-defense is, but how important it is to remain vigilant. With little ones running about, often in large groups, it is difficult to keep a constant eye on them as they go carefree through the world. We as parents know how bad the world can be for them and are tasked with keeping them safe. When I read daily about bad things happening to good people, I am grateful how fortunate I have been. Being relatively new to the parent thing, I know my watch will not end soon, but I am trying to remain vigilant and keep them safe. I am today more interested in carry guns than in target guns. A good daily carry knife peaks my interest faster than a custom collector. I suppose that is why go-bags are fluid, and we make something to fit most all needs.

Big news this month, after a lot of hard work the expanded website is up and running. You will see a new look with expanded information, more detailed photos, and current inventory status giving you all the tools you need to easily decide which Wilson Combat products are right for you. Our new shopping cart is vastly improved expediting the checkout process to make the entire experience much more user friendly. Our goal with these and continued improvements is to make your shopping experience satisfying no matter how you place your order. Starting as a light-weight Carry Comp with a Speed-Chute, carbon fiber Crimson Trace Laser Grips, slide stop shortened, and finished in Black over Silver Armor-Tuff, this is a great looking pistol with all the right features. As with all of our custom firearms, may be ordered just like you want it. The compensator is very effective and makes this compact a pleasure to shoot with even the hotter self-defense ammo. class="wp-caption-text">Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR – -(AmmoLand.com)- April has arrived roaring; our weather went from over a foot of snow in a single day to shorts and tee shirts playing outside with the kids in the last few weeks.

Now that conditions are improving and maybe growing stable, I am looking forward to taking some time to go shooting with my son. He has been after me all winter to let him shoot something, it seems his interest in all things related to guns and shooting is increasing. It should be a great deal of fun seeing it all through his eyes again.

I suspect that my daughter will follow close behind since she never wants to miss out on anything that her older brother gets to do. In years past I have spent a good deal of time on the range with various youth groups, it is worth the time and the pay back is exceptional. Go shooting, take a kid, if you do not have one of your own, check with your local ranges and I’ll bet they will be glad to have your help with some program they have going on right now.

The Gun of the Month for April is our Light-weight Professional. The Professional offers you the best of both worlds, full-size grip for better control, shorter barrel length that make it a good choice for concealed carry. Many find that the shorten barrel makes it easier to carry inside the waistband and with the reduced weight of the aluminum frame it offers even more convenience to those of us that carry daily. Saving half a pound from the full steel Professional, the difference will be very noticeable by the end of the day. These Professionals setup for carry, with Tactical Thumb Safety, White Out-line Tritium Sights, all Black Armor-Tuff, and as all the “Guns of the Month” we have a few ready for prompt delivery.

One of the biggest values that often get overlooked is our Remington Steal Rebuilds. You can send in your old well used Remington 870 and we will replace any worn or damaged parts, covert it to a 3” chamber, update the shell feed, install synthetic stock and fore end, replace the spring and follower, strip and re-park it all for $229.95. What a deal, take that old faithful or bargain 870 that we all have in the safe and make it like new. Starting with the Remington Steal Package you can add as much as you want all the way to one of our Standard Models with all the bells and whistles. What a great way to add value to the existing shotguns in your collection while improving its effectiveness at the same time. The choices are up to you; you can keep it simple or make an all out fully loaded home defense tool that will perform under any condition.

Rob Haught, our Shotgun Guru has been telling us the virtues of the Remington 870 and how to properly equip it for your needs. Choose from our different rebuild packages giving you the best value in building your own home defense tool and Scattergun of your dreams.

Every day while reviewing the orders that are beginning the process of becoming your new custom gun, I enjoy seeing the subtle changes that you request to make them entirely unique.

There is a section on our website, the Unique Gun Gallery that will show photos of some of the guns that we have built for you. You can also send in your favorite photos of your Wilson Combat Firearms and we may post them as well. It is a great way to show others what your favorite Wilson looks like. We try to post anything that catches our eye in that section, but after thirty years there are already many of you that have photos that should be included. If you would like us to consider posting them please email your jpeg files to photos@wilsoncombat.com and we will see about adding it to our page.

What a great way to enjoy a piece of history, guns we build today mixed with guns that we have built from the past thirty years.

As always we would like to hear from you. Please send us any questions that you have related to Wilson Combat or any of our products and we will do our best to get you an answer. If you have any problems or concerns feel free to contact me and I’ll see what I can do to get it all squared away.

Till next time,
Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR - -(AmmoLand.com)- Here we are in March already, and it is still too cold for me here in Arkansas.

We have been busy getting some new products ready to come your way, new website is soon to be online, and we are busy as bees building your dream gun.

The new Ultra-Light Carry Pistol has been a huge hit, we knew it was a great pistol, but those of you that use a working gun really got the concept and have let us know by placing your orders. We have been hard at work getting the next working gun ready to be released and I promise it will be coming very soon. We do our best to meet your demands and to keep all of our products on the cutting edge while remaining true to what thirty years has taught us about building your custom guns.

The Gun of the Month for March is the Ms. Sentinel. This fine pistol has all the right stuff to become the best carry pistol available for your significant other. This little gun offers maximum concealability, built from our shortest aluminum frame making it the smallest and lightest pistol available. Packed with new features, concealment beavertail grip safety and hammer, round butt frame, a shortened and rounded magazine release and carry cuts, you just cannot get a smaller or lighter package. Chambered in 9mm, outfitted with a short trigger, Cocobolo Starburst grips and tritium night sights the Ms. Sentinel offers all the right features to make it the most shootable small pistol available today. When combined with modern self-defense ammo, the Ms. Sentinel is a potent concealed carry pistol, equally at home in a purse or in a concealment holster.

Wilson Combat Ms. Sentinel 1911 Pistol

We get a great deal of questions from you on holsters and specifically on recommendations for daily carry. There are two schools of thought on best carry methods when it comes to full-size pistols. Inside the waist band (IWB) and normal on the belt carry. I actually use both methods of carry depending on the plans for the day. I prefer IWB using one of our Summer Companions, for best concealment in a more relaxed environment or while traveling in the car when I can just leave my shirt tail out, this is my first choice. Back in the day when I first started shooting IDPA, I actually competed from an IWB holster. I have carried so long with that method, I have a void where my holster rides just behind the right hip.

When you first begin carrying using an IWB holster, it may require an adjustment period. It may feel foreign at first adding the thickness of the pistol surrounded by the holster, but with time it becomes almost a part of you. I still feel almost undressed if I do not have my Summer Companion tucked inside my pants. Barrel length plays little or no role in your choice of cover garment when suing an IWB, since the majority of the pistol is covered by your trousers. Many use another shirt as a cover garment, or you can simply leave your shirt tail out to cover your pistol no matter what size pistol you carry.

If a very active and formal day is in the works for me I use one of our Lo-Profile® Holsters. The Lo-Profile® is a very comfortable holster for continuous carry, but is best concealed when wearing a cover garment. I have spent untold hours wearing either of these holsters, and I let the day’s plan dictate which will work best for me. If the day’s activities allow me to continuously wear a cover garment or are of a formal nature, the low profile is my choice.

This past weekend I have some full days and used the Lo-Profile® for the entirety of my weekend. Saturday afternoon I spent a good deal of time with the kids riding four-wheelers and found it to be perfect for that sort of use as well. Speaking as one who carries on a daily basis, the mission of the day dictates which holster I choose. If I had to choose only one holster to cover all bases, I would have to pick the Lo-Profile®. It will work for all around demands and is the perfect place to start in your holster selection. Over the years I have acquired lots of different holsters. I was a holster maker for several years, so I have many that I built as prototypes, some that other makers sent me to give opinions on their work, and quite a few that I purchased because something about them caught my eye. Over the years holsters have become for me like shoes are for the ladies. I have some for all occasions. Funny thing is as the end of the day I wear either our Summer Companion or the Lo-Profile® most of the time.

Feel free to send me your questions related to all things Wilson Combat® and I will include them in future Soap Boxes. Keep an eye on the website, some exciting things come your way soon.

To all of you in harm’s way, stay safe.

Till next time:

Stay safe, shoot straight, and always watch six.

John L. class="wp-caption-text">Wilson Combat Ultralight Carry Pistol

The ULC comes with all the bells and whistles ready to go into your favorite daily carry holster right out of the rug. Take a close look at this new addition because it may be just what you are looking to add to the personal arsenal.

Also new this year is the Ms. Sentinel; speaking of bells and whistles, this little lady has them all. Starting with the smallest and lightest frame we make, add carry cuts, fluted barrel and you just can’t take off any more weight. She also sports round butt, slide top serrations, and star-burst cocobolo grips to make it one of the most striking sub-compacts we have ever built. Give her a once over and tell me that is not the finest looking pistol you have seen. Do not miss the chance to get one of these wonderful little pistols for your collection.

By popular demand the Professional has been added to the Supergrade line of the finest pistols available today. Many of you have requested that we add it and we as always try to listen to our customers. There is just no way to express the overall quality of our Supergrades. The most skilled hands working every last detail until perfection is achieved is what comes in every Supergrade. The Tactical Supergrade Professional closes the loop to give you the choice when picking your next masterpiece. I personally like the full-size grip combined with the compact slide giving you eight rounds and great control while still having the quick handling of a compact.

Every day we put years of experience to work on turning your gun into the gun of your dreams. For thirty-three years we have been converting customer’s 1911s into ultimately reliable works of art. In the last several years we have added Remington 870s and AR15s to the platforms that we will help you build into the perfect addition to your collection.

If your 1911 does not meet your needs or there are some little issues that you have wanted to improve, or you just want to make it your own, we can help you get it exactly like you want it. We have been making and selling custom accessories for the 1911 since Wilson Combat® started. From the world’s most reliable magazine, to our new bullet proof parts, no one offers more high quality parts to customize your 1911 than what we bring to the table. We have in the last year added more accessories for the AR15 to meet your demands. Like with all Wilson Combat® Accessories we require them to be absolutely flawless in function and improve your overall shooting experience. Now you can take your existing AR15 rifle and turn it into the fighting gun of your dreams. Take a look at our work order page and you will see all the options that are available to you to make your AR perform as you expect.

When it comes to Remington 870s, as Rob Haught relates in his article, there is no more trusted name than Scattergun Technologies™. For years we have been salvaging your worn 870s and turning them into the best fighting shotguns in the world today. You may send in your Remington 870 for a simple rebuild or go all out and build yourself one of our Standard models with all the bells and whistles. Many have said the best value in the business is our shotgun conversions. Without a doubt you can improve the value of any 870 you already have, or take your buddy up on his offer to make you a deal on his shotgun and increase the value while making it one of the world’s finest fighting shotguns.

This time of year is the best time to get that “Dream Gun” project started. With the weather and cold, your favorite will not be missed so much and should with luck be back to you in time for the days of summer to allow time on the range. class="wp-caption-text">Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR - -(AmmoLand.com)-Well the IDPA Nationals is in the books and it was a great match. I spent the week on the Wilson Combat expo bay letting everyone who wanted, the opportunity to shoot some of our guns. The Bill Wilson Carry Pistol was a hit with all who gave it a try, and not a single person passed on the chance to shoot a Classic.

The UT15 I took along got a fair number of rounds through it, especially from all the foreign shooters that made their way to the match. Seems they get few opportunities to shoot an AR15 and did not pass the chance to press the trigger a few times.

We also sponsored a shot gun side match, it was a big hit. Everyone that wanted to participate had the opportunity to shoot a short course that required a reload shooting steel poppers. Three while moving, reload at cover and three from the barricade. John Morris took first place, followed by Glenn Shelby second, and Steve Dutch in third. Congratulations guys and to all that gave it a try, thanks for stopping by and visiting with us.

This month we will be highlighting one of our new 6.8 rifles. Take a close look at the 6.8, it gives you a whole new level of versatility for the AR15 platform. Bill has spent untold hours researching and field testing the capabilities of the 6.8SPC and has found it not only to be a tack driver, but a formidable hunting round.

Give it a look and let us know how we can help you to enjoy this real expansion of the AR platform. Along those same lines we are spotlighting the .22 Conversion Units for the AR. Our unit already has all the bells and whistles that you demand in your AR, but will save you big bucks on the range. It includes all of our latest upgrades on the standard unit. Better look close they will go fast.

We have been hard at work developing new AR accessories for you. Go take a look at the Rifle Accessory Page and you will not believe how many new products that we have added. Good news is that there are more to come. Keep an eye of both the Eblast and the Down Range for announcements of new additions to our already complete line of custom firearm accessories.

This month’s pistol spotlight will be my favorite, the CQB. The Wilson Combat Close Quarters Battle is the one that all others are judged by. Take a look at the custom options that are available for any of our pistols and you will be amazed. Give us a call and one of our customer service representatives will help you build your CQB exactly the way you want it. The options are so numerous I would not even attempt to put them in this article. There are some great photos of some of them on the website and we can certainly help you decide which of them best fits your needs.

This week I received a call from a gentleman who had just returned from one of those sandy regions where we seem to have too many of our finest located at any given time. I get tons of calls every week and while most are great calls from customers that want to take a minute out of their day to let me know what our products have meant to them, this one was a real treat for me.

This particular fellow called to tell me how having his CQB with him not only provided him piece of mind, but actually made it possible to return home to his family. We talked for quite a while and he relayed stories to me of how the others that were in his group were envious of his pistol, and even how he discovered that the Wilson Combat 47D has become international currency, know world wide as the best and accepted as trading material for all that you may need.

Through the entire conversation his theme never changed, skill and luck will get you through, but having his CQB that he knew would work every time made it possible to focus on the job at hand and gave him the ability to come back home.

To all of you in harm’s way, stay safe.

Till next time:

Stay safe, shoot straight, and always watch six.

John L. class="wp-caption-text">Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR – -(AmmoLand.com)- Over the past few years we have been working with an engraver that has done some truly lovely work for us that you our customers now enjoy. After he finished up his last project we talked for a while and a concept was born for a truly remarkable pistol.

These special pistols call on over 150 years of combined gunsmithing experience to build a master piece. Beginning with all of the finest components available held to the strictest standards, placing them in the hands of our most skilled gunsmiths, hand fitting one part at a time until it works together like a well tuned race engine. That alone makes it one of the finest pistols available anywhere, but we are not done yet. The sculpted scroll engraving on the slide is breath taking with deep and exceptional detail. While it is often said seeing is believing, when you look at the detail on the slide you will know what breath taking truly is. The beautifully engraved slide was expertly charcoal blued by Doug Turnbull Restorations bringing the engraving to life. Placing this slide atop the stainless frame makes for an exceptionally striking custom pistol.

Engraved charcoal blue slide over a stainless frame with adjustable sights, match barrel and bushing, ambidextrous safety, and speed-chute makes this beautiful pistol also have all of the features you want in your custom pistol.

I could say so much more, but I will let the photos speak for this wonderful pistol.

This will be an extremely limited offering and will be featured in an upcoming book: “The 1911, The First 100 Years”, so they are very special. They will be sold on a first come first served basis. If this pistol is what you have always wanted, please contact us as soon as possible as there will only be a few.

I hope you have the chance to enjoy the fall shooting season. It is a great time to be on the range, the weather is nice and the days are still long enough to get some shooting in. Let us know if we can be of any service to you with any of your shooting needs.

About:
Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR – -(AmmoLand.com)-The IDPA Nationals is just around the corner and I have yet to find any time to practice. I hope you are going into the fall shooting season better prepared than I am.

Seems like work and lack of ammo has kept me off the range. I plan to turn over a new leaf next year and get far more active in shooting again. After years of shooting every weekend and practicing any other time I could get, it seems difficult to regain that focus I once had in my shooting. I guess it happens to all of us at some point, we need to take some time off from activities to regain our enthusiasm. I can feel mine returning and hopefully spending time with everyone in Tulsa for the Nationals will kindle the fires.

This has been a strange year in the industry. At times .22 ammo was not to be found, and I understand that .380 ammo is still not available in most stores. Here at the office the ammo shortages have delayed test-fire and created all sorts of issues for us to complete the process and ship guns to our customers. I have talked to customers that are shooting ammo that they would never have purchased in the past due to shortages on their dealer shelves. Please remember that like any quality product, it requires a diet of good quality ammo.

Looking over current trends it seems like the 9mm is the current upturn in requests for pistols. I guess due to ammo prices and ease of shooting it is no wonder. The recent addition of the 9mm ETM magazine has helped that a great deal. I still remember the first time I shot a 9mm 1911; it was so much fun you would not believe. I guess others already knew how fun the 1911 could be in 9mm, I was on the back side of the bus. The largest single problem that was had by all was unavailable and poor quality magazines for it. Well the 9mm ETM helped everyone that wanted to give it a try. While the 9mm lends itself to double stack magazines, after spending a great deal of time we got it right. I was amazed how many different approaches were used over the years to get old 1911s in 9mm to work. I guess like it all started, they were modified to work with existing magazines. When we designed the 9mm ETM, it was a targeted goal of ten rounds that would feed in most every 1911 on the market. We even purchased some old pistols, dusted off some others, and put them all to the test. The results as you know are outstanding. If you have always wanted a 9mm 1911 or have one that never worked, give us a call and we can help either way.

This has been the year of the AR15. We now offer a host of accessories to upgrade your plain jane AR into a state of the art rifle ready for action. From the Quad Rail to the Accu-Tac Flash Hider, we have something to fit every need for your AR15. Take my advice, take a look at the Tactical Trigger Unit, this unit will drop in and give you a match quality trigger that will not only improve your shooting, but make it more fun. One of my favorite additions to the AR accessory line is the Flip up Sights, you can get your choice of Flip up Rear Sights and the Front Flip up Sight is the best in the business. This month we have added a Night Hunter Tactical Light Package to our ever expanding list of possibilities. The various package choices give you the opportunity to mount our new weapons light on almost any configuration. Take a close look at this new group of products, the light is the latest state of the art light with high output and low battery consumption. What more could you ask for in a Tactical Light?

The Gun of the Month Program continues to be very successful. We have added to the list so there are a few other firearms available. As always we will try to keep some on the list available for shipment, but as always hurry they go fast. This gives you your chance to get a custom firearm without having the wait. What could be better?

BWC-CP-45: Bill Wilson Carry Pistol (.45acp) in Black over Grey Armor-Tuff with all the bells and whistles.

WTE-A-A-CA: Tactical Elite (.45acp) in Black Armor-Tuff with an Ambi-Safety, Speed Chute and certified for sale in California.

CQBTLE-FSR-45: CQB Tactical LE (.45acp) in Black over Green Armor-Tuff with Lanyard Loop Speed Chute and Bull Barrel.

PRO-PR-45: Professional (.45acp) in Black Armor-Tuff.

M-4AQ: AR15 Carbine (.223) in Black Armor-Tuff with Wilson Combat Quad-rail, Magpul stock upgrade and Vortex Flash Hider.

M-4TA: AR15 Carbine (.223) in Black Armor-Tuff

Till next time,
Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR – This month we added a new feature to what we talk about, the Gun of the month. This month’s feature is the Tactical Elite. The gun of the month will be an ongoing feature that we will do from time to time to let you know what is going on here at Wilson HQ. We will try to highlight a product that we will have available at the time of release, although supply will be extremely limited. Please contact your local dealer or call one of our sales staff to help you with your purchase. Please remember that they will be available on a first come first served basis so you better hurry any time you see a “Gun of the Month” release.

The Tactical Elite is a great gun for the most demanding customer that wants the perfect combination of fighting gun in an all class package. The Tactical Elite was born out of years of looking for the perfect combination for daily use as the first line of defense. It comes with just the features needed to make it a standalone defensive pistol. Take a hand fitted slide, frame, and add the heavy flanged cone match barrel and you have the basis for one of the best pistols for daily use. The upfront weight provided by the flanged cone barrel makes for the fastest follow-up shots. This pistol includes a fully checkered front strap which makes for the best fighting grip. The tactical ambi-safety allows for conditions that may require weak hand shooting that can happen in real world confrontations. The Wilson Combat speed-chute offers the advantage of speedy reloads. This pistol arrives equipped with Combat Pyramid Tritium night sights, zeroed and ready to go to work. The Tactical Elite is finished completely in black Armor-Tuff to not only look great, but to provide all the protection that your new custom pistol deserves. If a good looking pistol that allows for faster on target follow-up shots with all the right features with nothing wasted is what you are looking for, this should be your next pistol. The Tactical Elite as listed is legal for sale in California.

After the frenzy that is AR15 starts to die down, all of you that settled for one that was on the shelf at your local gun shop are now wanting to make it your own. The single greatest trait that we all as gun people share is we like to customize our guns. This year alone Wilson Combat has added a host of AR15 focused accessories to help you in that regard. If you go to our web site ( AR Parts & Acc. ) and see the entire list of well thought-out additions you may be amazed. From scope mounts, muzzle brakes, and including the new drop in trigger, the list keeps getting larger. After shopping at Wilson Combat you can convert your plain-jane AR15 into a world class Tactical Rifle. We have been busy making sure that we were adding only products that we would use on our rifles and that stand up to the test of wearing the Wilson Combat name.

One of the newest to our AR15 product line is the Quick Detach Suppressor. If you read the shooting wire you noticed this morning’s article about suppressors and how much fun they are. The suppressor is a great tool for the beginning shooter; consider the effect that just the noise has on a first time shooter. How much trouble would the noise reduction avoid with our neighbors? In some of the places I have traveled abroad, it is considered being a good neighbor to use suppression while shooting. Let us not forget the cool factor, you can amaze and amuse your shooting buddies with your new ultra quiet blaster. The TR-QDSTI was designed from the start to be the simplest to install and use on the market today. Push down the locking ring, slip it over the provided muzzle break / flash hider, when fully seated release the locking ring, and turn until you hear the “click”. That is all there is to it. The Quick Detach Suppressor TI is one of the coolest additions that you can make to your AR15 arsenal and while not available in all states, it is easier than you think to get one in most places. The misconceptions that accompany NFA regulations are amazing. In my time in this business I have seen the entire spread of beliefs. Most just believe that machine guns and suppressors are illegal, not true. In most states you can own an NFA controlled product with just a simple form and of course you must pay the tax. The only thing required that is not part of the concealed carry permit is the signature of local law enforcement. In most states that is included in the concealed carry permit as well. All that is asked of local law enforcement is that you are not known to them to be a criminal or less than law abiding. Like everything I have seen in my life, a little knowledge is a powerful thing. If you know all the facts, the rest is just paperwork, check with your local law enforcement or your local dealer. The ATF has some good info available on the web and in my experience they will be helpful regarding gun laws.

This summer I have had little time to shoot. The family and I are preparing to move into a new house and with two kids and all that goes with raising them; it is tough to find enough time to shoot. In short order I hope that my son Eoin will be ready to start shooting with dad. We have started the road to where he will be able to take part in my favorite past time. Eoin has been to matches with me, he was still in the stroller when he attended his first national shooting event. For the first years of his life that was his summer vacation, so he has been on the range. I have been taking care to gradually get him into it. This is an experience all of its own, being a father. Trying to carefully bring him into my favorite hobbies is tough enough without having to worry about having to explain to the teacher why he talks in adult shooting terms. The first time I heard him say “stand by” to one of his friends, I smiled. Most of his teachers have visited with me at least once about him and how he conducts himself. I say all of this to make a point that shooting used to be America’s past time but appears to be no longer. How do we get back there from here? I guess I will perfect my youth shooting program with my son, so my daughter will have the benefits?

This just in!!!

Just in time for this to mail we finished up another new project ready for you to take to the range. Our brand new addition to the AR accessory list is the complete upper in .22LR. This upper has all the Wilson Combat features that you demand on your rifle: Quad-Rail, Flip-Up Front Sight, Accu-Tac Flash Hider all in the Flat-top M-4 package ready to go on your AR lower. Add the Flip-Up Rear Sight and your favorite optic. Now you have the most cost effective way to keep your skills sharp and you get hours of fun shooting with cheap ammo.

Till next time,
Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR -How Long We Will Continue To Have The Freedoms -(AmmoLand.com)- Summer has finally hit the Ozarks and the heat is on. Normally this time of year I spend a lot of time on the range. These days with two little ones and more home projects on my plate than I care to list I get far less range time. One of these days I hope to get a little more free time to get back to serious shooting. My son has already shown some interest in shooting, like all little boys he likes guns. Trying to let him come to it instead of dad pushing him to something I love has been a challenge. Of course you know I have been getting him rifles for Christmas since he was born. Now with a little girl on board, not sure how to work her into it either, but I will figure it out.

With all of the noise in Washington one wonders how long we will continue to have the freedoms that we have today. In my life time my rights and personal freedoms have been eroded and not all of them lost to daylight raids. What bothers me the most is when they (our freedoms) are lost in the cover of darkness or by sleight of hand. Seems like that is what we are working up to in the world today. Can’t further their agenda one way, back up, go around the back, and call it something different. Registration, serialization of ammo, waiting periods, paperwork, and taxes are tactics that have all been used over the years to restrict our freedoms. Not just gun related, but across the board. When will it end? Have you ever seen the old movies of the great showmen doing demonstrations for Winchester or Remington? That was when shooting was an American pastime. What happened? People would come from all over to see those guys do tricks and stunts all with guns that everyone was familiar with because they had one at home. Now we whisper in the corners, and try not to let too many others know what we do for fun, or let alone actively practice self-defense. Hunters are under attack along with all of us that shoot. Talk about a great American pastime. Well guess what they are related. Without guns we would be left with bows only. While I know that many people hunt most everything there is in the world, bow hunting is not for everyone. Hunters and shooters must stick together to stem the tide from washing us all out to sea.

You all know what it takes to do your part, vote, join the NRA or the GOA, go shoot, and take a kid shooting or hunting or both. Stand up and get involved now before it is too late.

This month is kind of a new thing for down range. Take a look at all the new products we are introducing this month, and remember our tag line “guns for shooters by shooters”, well we are shooters so there are a couple of guns listed while not Wilson Combat product we like to shoot other stuff too. These were ordered for various reasons and we got too many or had to buy them to get something else and this is the first time we have ever offered them for sale outside our little family. But we need the room and thought you might want to give one of these a try. This month’s features turned into kind of an AR15 spotlight on new product, but only because we have been working on most of this for a while and now is the time. Look over the new flash hider, way cool and easy to install yourself. Just finished up a brand new scope mount that is way cool and already proven to work very well. The biggest news is the addition of a Titanium Quick Detach Suppressor and a Bolt Rifle. The Suppressor is the ultimate addition to your AR for fun and cool factor. Simple on and off, very light weight, quiet, and so much fun it takes your AR15 to a new level. The bolt rifles were built by us on the FN patrol action. We have been using that action for some time to build personal rifles and having great results so we thought you might like to have one as well. Two new knives are added to the lineup. The Delta Spec Ops folders are packed with features that you will want in your tactical folder, better take a look at them and pick the size that best fits your needs or better yet one of each to cover all the bases. Last but not least for the first time we are offering to you a “pre-fit” slide and frame combo with all the bells and whistles. Do not miss the chance to get some of these for your next custom project.

Till next time,
Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR – -(AmmoLand.com)- For this month the theme is accuracy. For the guys here at Wilson Combat that is easy, it is built into every gun they hand build. Every day I get emails and phone calls from our customers sharing their accounts of “great” feats that they accomplish with their new Wilson product. As a guy who has been shooting Wilson guns for years, even long before I joined the company, I can attest to their tales.

We hold our guns to standards that make other makers flinch. If you have not looked at your test fire target lately, remember one of our guys shot that group off a sand bag; we do not use a machine rest of any kind. When using good quality ammo, our pistols will not only feed like a dream, they will shoot a group that would make anyone proud. If the shooter does his part, I know that our guns will do theirs. When you start with the highest quality parts, add decades of skill, you get a firearm that has it all. This combination gives you all that you need to get every bit out of a gun.

Over the years I have been asked what makes our product better than the others. Simple answer is that we actually use them. When you see “made by shooters for shooters” we mean it. We know what a custom firearm should be capable of because we shoot them. Most of us here have spent time as competition shooters, some in the military, and some in law enforcement. We are gun people. Our founder, Bill Wilson shoots, hunts, and reloads as a part of his every day routine. You can’t be in this business if you don’t love it. As for the rest of us we hunt, shoot, and support the activities of both daily.

What question do we ask every time we come up with a new product idea? Will it shoot, will is function; will it be better than what we have now? Same with accuracy, if it will not perform as we insist that is should, it is out. Our products have to meet our standards before they get a chance to meet your standards. It is just that simple for us.

Any time I forget how cool a job I have, I write one of these for the Down range and am reminded how I get to do what I love every day. Most of the folks that work here enjoy their job almost as much as I do. After all the years I have been here it is so cool to deliver a new gun to a brand new customer and see how all of our hard work pays off. Get a chance to see that spark in their eyes, and with luck I will be there when they fire the first shots and I get to see them really light up. I have gotten so many targets from satisfied customers over the years that I have run out of room to keep them all. Our customers become like family and keep us up to date on what is happening in their lives. We still service customers that have been with us since the very start. How cool is that??

Please take a minute and look over the “No Name Pistol”. This is what happens when you get some gun guys who like to shoot and give them to opportunity to design something new. I can’t wait for someone to pick the winning name so I can deliver it to them and see how much they enjoy what we think will be a real winner for anyone looking for a higher capacity, light weight pistol with most of the bells and whistles right from the start. I forgot to mention, with all that you expect from a Wilson Combat pistol built right in.

Till next time,
Wilson Combat

Berryville, AR - -(AmmoLand.com)- This month reminds me how great my job really is, I get to write about cool stuff and let you guys in on the inside track of things going on here at Wilson Combat®. After over thirty years of stretching our home we made a huge step forward, at the end of the year our gunsmiths started moving into their new building.

In 2009 we will be celebrating the opening of our brand new 6000+ square foot state of the art facility. This new facility was designed from the ground up as the perfect place to build custom guns.

This is the final step in gunsmithing perfection. This new facility exceeds our wildest dreams for the future. We made sure that when it comes to building the world’s finest custom gun, our gunsmiths have all that they need. More light, more room, and more efficiency built in from the very beginning.

Just check out the few photos we have included and you will see just a small sample of how cool it really is. Newer, large machining centers offer us the possibility of even more future custom features and ground breaking stuff coming your way. Combine this with some staff additions, and we should be able to go from idea to your range bag in world class time. Wilson Combat® has always demanded and delivered the best. This sort of expansion just makes us better and faster at doing just that.

While considering what specials to offer this month, one thought kept coming to me. For the month of January all the listed logo gear, while supplies last are 30% off. Look it over and celebrate the New Year with us by wearing your favorite Wilson Combat® Logo gear. There is a good selection now, so hurry while supplies last.

Till next month:

Stay safe, shoot straight, and always watch six.

John L. May<br
