title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Boar hunters take note: Leupold’s new VX-HOG riflescope features an exclusive Pig Plex reticle for fast target acquisition and precise shot placement.

The VX-HOG is a 1.25-4x20mm riflescope, well suited for the terrain and conditions typical of wild boar country. Its Pig Plex reticle is calibrated to frame up a mature hog and provide just the right amount of lead on running boars.

“We are a sponsor of Brian ‘Pig Man’ Quaca, who inspired us to design riflescopes for passionate hog hunters,” commented Pat Mundy, communications manager for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “With the VX-HOG, hog hunters everywhere are rigged for pig and ready for close-range, fast-paced action.”

The VX-HOG has Leupold’s Quantum Optical System, which includes lead-free, precision-ground and polished lenses with Leupold’s exclusive Multicoat 4 coatings for enhanced resolution, clarity and contrast. Carefully positioned in optimum relationship to each other, the lenses deliver up to 92 percent total light transmission.

Other features include finger-adjustable, ¼-MOA click windage and elevation dials that allow quick zeroing and easy adjustment in the field. The power selector ring incorporates a tactile indicator, making it easy to grasp and turn even while wearing gloves. A fast-focus eyepiece with a low-profile lock ring makes reticle focus easy to achieve and maintain.

The VX-HOG sports modern styling with a special “HOG” logo highlighting the exterior design. Like all Golden Ring riflescopes, the VX-HOG is waterproof, shockproof and fog proof.

Built for rugged use with a one-inch maintube manufactured from 6061-T6 aircraft-quality aluminum alloy, the VX-HOG is covered by Leupold’s Full Lifetime Guarantee.

For more information, visit a local dealer, go to www.leupold.com or call 1-800-LEUPOLD.

Leupold & Stevens, Inc., the preeminent American-owned optics company, employs hundreds of people in its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility near Beaverton, Ore. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- If your 2011 hunting season went awry because you misjudged the distance to your target, you won’t want to miss this month’s gift giveaway on www.NRAhuntersrights.org.

During the month of January, visit www.NRAhuntersrights.org for a chance to win a brand new Leupold RX-1000i TBR Compact Digital Rangfinder with DNA, courtesy of Leupold & Stevens.

The palm-size RX-1000i is powered by Leupold’s new Digitally eNhanced Accuracy (DNA) technology, which not only increases ranging speed, but makes the RX-1000i accurate to 1/10 of a yard. The RX-1000i can automatically calculate the shot angle and provide the True Ballistic Range (TBR) rather than the straight-line distance to the target, allowing for more accurate shot placement.

The RX-1000i measures only 3.8 inches long and weighs just 7.8 ounces. Its multicoated lens system produces a bright, pristine image, helping to transmit 80 percent of available light to the eye—three times greater than the light transmission of traditional LCD rangefinders. Actual 6x magnification and a vivid red Organic LED display also make it easier to spot and range game, even through dark timber and in low-light conditions.

The RX-1000i offers continuous scanning to help stay on target when tracking movement or scanning an area, and the unit can range from six to 1,000 yards in rifle mode and up to 125 yards in bow mode.

All RX-1000i units are weatherproof and rugged, with tough aluminum casing and rubber armor. Each rangefinder comes with a Cordura holster, lanyard, and CR2 lithium camera battery. Free to one lucky entrant, this rangefinder normally retails for $399.99. For more information on all of Leupold’s quality hunting and shooting optics, visit www.leupold.com.

To enter the January Gift Giveaway, simply visit www.NRAhuntersrights.org and scroll down to the yellow box, “TO ENTER GIFT GIVEAWAY” on the right-hand side of the page. Just send an e-mail to the address provided and write “Gift Giveaway” in the subject line. No other information is needed. Entries will be accepted now through Jan. 31, and a winner will be announced Feb. 1 on www.NRAhuntersrights.org. Earlier this year, it was announced that “Pig Man: The Series” would be awarded a Silver Telly in its sophomore season. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- When the world’s elite sniper teams take the field at U.S. Army International Sniper Competition September 23-30, Leupold Tactical Optics will be on every M-24 and M110 sniper rifle used in the competition.

As a platinum sponsor of the 11th annual conference and match, Leupold Tactical Optics will provide 34 Mark 4 ER/T 6.5-20x50mm M5A riflescopes, the same scope issued on the newly adopted XM2010 sniper weapons system. This next generation sniper optic is now in full production for the US Army and customers around the world.

“The Leupold Tactical Optics scope on the XM2010 incorporates all of the cutting edge features that the world’s best snipers demand,” says Kevin Trepa, VP Tactical Division. “We are getting great reports back on its performance in action overseas. The scopes are now in full-scale production in our Portland, OR facility and we are quickly filling global demand for the new scopes.”

The Army revised the event rules this year, requiring all competitors to use identical weapons platforms. M24 bolt-action rifles and M110 semi-automatic rifles will be provided to each team from the Army Marksmanship Unit. The goal, Army officials have said, is to make the competition a true test of sniper and spotter skills, and less about equipment.

A Leupold engineer will be on-site to ensure each optic is correctly mounted, to answer any questions the sniper teams may have, and to collect valuable field data that will help keep scope designs current.

“We are committed to getting our snipers the gear they need when they need it,” Trepa said. “This competition reflects that commitment.”

Following the competition, Competitors can purchase their scopes at a special rate, to include custom engraving, if desired.

Leupold Tactical Optics undergo arduous environmental and impact testing to ensure they meet the highest quality standards for durability and dependability. title="Ammoland Shooting Sports News" href="http://www.Ammoland.com" target="_blank">Ammoland.com)- Leupold’s® intense focus on product development has culminated in a new generation of tactical riflescopes that cover the entire spectrum of optics requirements, from close quarters to extended ranges, for warfighters as well as competitive shooters.

In 2011, the Leupold Tactical Optics Division has launched innovative riflescopes including the Mark 4® 6.5-20x50mm Extended Range/Tactical (ER/T®) M5 Auto-Locking Adjustment model, the Mark 8™ 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS™ and the Mark 4 High Accuracy Multi-Range (HAMR™).

The U.S. Army has chosen the ER/T M5 Auto-Locking Adjustment riflescope as the primary day optic for its newest sniper rifle, the XM2010. In addition, Leupold recently contracted with the United States Marine Corps (USMC) to supply the CQBSS for use with M2 heavy machine guns and MK19 grenade machine guns. The Marine Corps sight will carry the M521 designation. “Whatever the mission or application, whether the weapon is a sniper rifle or carbine, we have an optic that will help achieve success on the battlefield or in precision shooting competitions,” said Kevin Trepa, vice president of Leupold’s Tactical Division. “Our next-generation riflescopes are the result of a concentrated product development program with the military over the past couple years, and we will continue our hard work to meet the requirements of our warfighters and civilian shooters alike.”

The ER/T Auto-Locking Adjustment riflescope is specially designed and built with the military sniper in mind. It has an auto-locking elevation adjustment. This feature ensures that reticle adjustment is maintained during rough going and stressful conditions. Reticle options include the Horus™ H27 and H58, as well as Leupold’s Tactical Milling Reticle® (TMR®). Versatile enough for close quarters battle as well as distances out to several hundred meters, the CQBSS is available with the new Horus H27D reticle or Leupold’s Military-Tactical Milling Reticle (M-TMR™). The M-TMR is designed to allow successful range estimation and target engagement with more flexibility than generally possible with other reticle styles. – more -

Built for precise mid-range marksmanship and fast target acquisition, the HAMR features an illuminated CM-R2™ reticle. Leupold’s DeltaPoint™ reflex sight, utilizing either a 7.5-MOA Delta reticle or 3.5-MOA Dot reticle, can be attached to the HAMR, providing instant target acquisition capability at close quarters. (DeltaPoint and HAMR are available as a package.) Other recent developments in the Leupold Tactical line include the Mark 4 Close Quarters/Tactical (CQ/T®) riflescope, which is now offered with the CM-R2 reticle; the Mark 4 20-60x80mm Tactical Spotting Scope available with the Mil Dot or TMR reticle; and the Mark 4 12-40x60mm Tactical Spotting Scope with the Horus H32 (standard or inverted) or H36 reticle (standard or inverted). In addition, the new Integral Mounting System (IMS™), created specifically for most AR and other tactical rifles, features a monolithic, cantilever design for strength and durability under the harshest conditions. The IMS eliminates problems associated with the two most common issues faced when mounting standard riflescopes to AR-style rifles: scope height and eye relief. Leupold Tactical Optics undergo arduous environmental and impact testing to ensure they meet the highest quality standards for durability and dependability.

About:
BEAVERTON, OR -(Ammoland.com)- Leupold’s® new VX-R™ Patrol riflescope features proprietary powered fiber optic technology in an exclusive FireDot™ reticle to provide law enforcement, military and other tactical shooters with exceptional target acquisition, in the bright light of day as well as the low light of dawn or dusk.

The VX-R Patrol is available in a 1.25-4x20mm model with the FireDot Special Purpose Reticle (SPR®) and a 3-9x40mm model with the FireDot Tactical Milling Reticle® (TMR®).

“Our new VX-R Patrol riflescope offers true daylight-capable illumination and long battery life, along with a sleek design that reduces bulk atop the rifle,” commented Pat Mundy, communications manager for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “It is an extremely versatile scope that can handle a wide range of tactical situations and conditions.”

The VX-R Patrol has a single push button illumination system with Leupold’s own Motion Sensor Technology (MST™). A touch of the button illuminates the dot within the reticle. By repeatedly pressing the button, the user can select between eight different intensity settings including a high-low indicator, which flashes when either the maximum or minimum intensity is reached. After five minutes of inactivity, the illumination system automatically switches to stand-by mode, but reactivates at the same intensity setting whenever the rifle is moved. This helps extend battery life and, by reducing movement, allows the shooter to maintain greater stealth in the field.

In addition, the FireDot reticle in the VX-R Patrol has a fiber optic light pipe with a precisely cut and meticulously polished tip designed to deliver an illuminated dot that can be easily seen in bright light, yet is not overpowering in low-light conditions. Once activated, the dot illuminates with bright, sharp definition, while the rest of the reticle remains non-illuminated. This combination leads the eye naturally to the center aiming point and makes target acquisition quick, precise and simple.

The FireDot SPR is designed for instinctive, close-range/low-magnification situations, yet allows shooters to engage targets with greater precision at longer ranges than generally possible with other reticle styles. Expanding on existing Mil Dot reticles, the FireDot TMR offers increased ranging precision and accuracy.

Other key features of the VX-R Patrol:

Rugged 30mm matte black maintube

Leupold’s Index Matched Lens System®, which maximizes light transmission to produce an extremely bright, sharp image across the visual field

Blackened lens edges for enhanced light transmission, clarity and contrast

DiamondCoat™, an ion-assisted lens coating for optimal light management and maximum abrasion resistance

One-turn, non-locking eyepiece to provide smooth, fast and precise focus adjustment for users of different visual acuity, from nearsighted to farsighted

Precision finger click adjustments for windage and elevation (1/4-MOA)

Leupold’s most durable twin bias spring erector system

Second generation Argon/Krypton waterproofing for enhanced resistance to thermal shock

CR-2032 coin cell battery, readily available around the country

The VX-R Patrol is backed by Leupold’s Full Lifetime Guarantee. The VX-R 3-9x40mm riflescope is the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence 2011 Optic of the Year. For more information visit a local dealer, go to Ammoland.com)-New from Leupold’s Tactical Optics Division, the Mark 4 High Accuracy Multi-Range (HAMR) riflescope has the performance and versatility required for active duty in bright daylight, low light and at night.

The Mark 4 HAMR is a fixed power 4x24mm sight. Built for precise mid-range marksmanship and fast target acquisition, it offers a variety of features that work to the advantage of military warfighters, law enforcement personnel, and other tactical or competitive shooters.

These features include the ballistically matched illuminated CM-R2 reticle, a fast-focus eyepiece and Leupold’s advanced Xtended Twilight Lens System. In addition, Leupold’s DeltaPoint reflex sight can be attached to the HAMR, providing instant target acquisition capability at close quarters. (DeltaPoint and HAMR are available as a package.)

“Our new Mark 4 HAMR is versatile, tough, compact and combat-ready,” said Kevin Trepa, vice president of tactical sales and marketing for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “Simple to use, it can be employed with any AR-15 variant to engage targets with exceptional speed and precision.”

The CM-R2 reticle is designed for the most popular tactical rounds and weapons systems. An etched glass reticle, it is clearly visible with the illumination activated or in the “off” mode.

By combining the ranging ability of Leupold’s Special Purpose Reticle (SPR®) with the quick acquisition of the Leupold Circle Dot reticle, the CM-R2 provides the flexibility necessary on the modern battlefield or 3-gun course. The CM-R2 preserves the instinctive fire capabilities of the Circle Dot for the short-range, low-magnification needs of the CQB warfighter and competitive multi-gun shooters.

The CM-R2 is designed to allow the shooter to focus more attention on the target and less attention on the reticle. A boldly illuminated 0.5 MOA dot surrounded by a 5.0 MOA semi-circle enhance the shooter’s focus and combine precision with speed when the target is up close and personal. Hash marks on the horizontal stadia are calibrated for leading moving targets at 5, 10 and 15 mph, respectively. Vertical tic marks allow users to estimate ranges based on 18” wide targets at increasing ranges, while also providing precise holdover points for targets between 300 and 900 meters.

With a quick 1.5 revolutions “lock to lock,” the rapid adjustment speed of the HAMR’s eyepiece helps get the shooter in focus and on target in short order. The addition of a DeltaPoint allows the user to quickly shift from the reflex sight to the HAMR, transitioning from close quarters to longer ranges with speed and ease.

Leupold’s Xtended Twilight Lens System provides superior light transmission for the best low-light performance, particularly in the blue/violet light of dawn and dusk. The system produces an extremely bright, sharp image across the HAMR’s visual field. Combined with a constant 2.71 inches of eye relief, the optical system is much more forgiving and effective than first-generation optical sights.

A flat-top Picatinny mounting system is included with each HAMR. It is compatible with any rail mounting system. Other features include 0.10 mil click adjustments for windage and elevation, and a F88 5.56mm Bullet Drop Compensation (BDC) dial.

Ready for deployment, the Mark 4 HAMR comes in a matte black finish, weighs 17.2 ounces and is 5.6 inches long. The scope is waterproof, fog proof and shock proof.

Leupold Tactical Optics undergo arduous environmental and impact testing to ensure they meet the highest quality standards for durability and dependability. Leupold Tactical Optics are backed by the company’s long history of customer-satisfying warranties as well. For warranty information on specific products, call 1-800-LEUPOLD or 503-526-1400. For additional product information, go to www.leupold.com.

Supported by a team of dedicated engineers, the Leupold Tactical Optics staff works with American warfighters, law enforcement personnel and competitive shooters to design and build products that meet their needs. Currently, more long-range Leupold Tactical Optics are in service with the U.S. military than any other brand.

Leupold & Stevens, Inc., the preeminent American-owned and -operated optics company, employs more than 700 people in its state-of-the-art facility near Beaverton, Ore., where Mark 4 and Golden Ring optics are designed, machined and assembled. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Leupold’s Tactical Optics Division has won a contract with the United States Marine Corps (USMC) to supply 728 Mark 8 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS riflescopes for use with M2 heavy machine guns and MK19 grenade machine guns.

The sight will carry the M521 designation.

Ordered to meet the need of Afghanistan-based Marine units for a Heavy Day Optic, the Mark 8 CQBSS scopes will be employed to support combat operations. A key feature of the scope is Leupold’s new Marine-Tactical Milling Reticle (M-TMR), which is designed to allow successful range estimation and target engagement with more flexibility than generally possible with other reticle styles.

The M-TMR’s “staircased” configuration preserves the instinctive-fire capabilities on low magnification while allowing precise range estimation at any power setting.

“The Marine Corps’ innovative employment of this new technology will bring enhanced lethality to two combat-proven systems, the M2 and MK19 heavy machine guns,” said Kevin Trepa, vice president of Leupold’s Tactical Division. “We will continue working hard to deliver the new tools that our warfighters need to succeed on the battlefield.”

The Mark 8 CQBSS has a state-of-the-art lens system providing operators with the capability of an 8-power precision riflescope in one rugged, field-proven unit. The 34mm maintube features a fully checkered ocular bell for making quick magnification adjustments even while wearing gloves.

A front focal plane reticle, the M-TMR is accurate at all magnification settings. The RX-1000i with DNA has a black finish, while the TBR model is available in either gray/black or Mossy Oak Break-Up Infinity camouflage.

“Following on the heels of our successful RX-1000 introduction in 2009, the new RX-1000i with DNA models once again raise the bar on compact rangefinder function and performance, giving hunters and shooters a handy tool to easily spot targets and range them faster and more precisely than ever,” commented Pat Mundy, communications manager for Leupold & Stevens, Inc.

“These are truly innovative rangefinders that offer the best of all worlds: shirt pocket size for easy and convenient carrying, exceptionally rugged to withstand the hardest hunt, and superior ranging performance to help set up for an accurate shot.”

Maximum range of the RX-1000i with DNA is 1,000 yards (914.4 meters) on reflective targets. Minimum range is 6 yards (5.5 meters). In bow mode, maximum range is 125 yards (114.3 meters). Scan mode provides continuous range updates to help stay on target when tracking movement or scanning an area. Measurements are provided in yards or meters.

Other key features include:

OLED display has variable brightness settings, making it easier to see in dim light than LCD displays typical of most other rangefinders

fast-focus eyepiece with precision clicks

redesigned Quick Set Menu provides on-screen prompts for easy use in the field

selectable reticles – hunters can choose from three different reticles to best suit the terrain and game, from elk to small varmints

fold-down rubber eyecups accommodate users with or without glasses

convenient battery power indicator

The RX-1000i TBR with DNA units can automatically calculate the shot angle and provide the True Ballistic Range rather than the straight-line distance to the target. Optimized for most popular bow and rifle trajectories, the rifle settings also work in conjunction with Leupold’s Ballistic Aiming System riflescope reticles for exceptionally accurate shot placement. Available only in the RX-1000i TBR, milliradian outputs can precisely match mil based reticles such as the Mil Dot, TMR and Horus Vision offerings.

Each rangefinder comes with a Cordura holster, lanyard, CR2 lithium camera battery and complete instructions. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Leupold’s Tactical Optics Division introduces the Integral Mounting System (IMS), now available in Mark 1, Mark 2, Mark 4 and Mark 8 configurations for riflescopes commonly used by American military warfighters, law enforcement personnel and competitive shooters.

Created specifically for most AR and other tactical rifles, the IMS features a monolithic, cantilever design for strength and durability under the harshest conditions. Formed from one piece of aluminum bar stock, the integral base/ring eliminates problems associated with the two most common issues faced when mounting standard riflescopes to AR-style rifles: scope height and eye relief.

“Like Leupold riflescopes, the IMS is extremely rugged and reliable,” said Kevin Trepa, vice president of tactical sales and marketing for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “It can be counted on for rock-solid scope mounting and repeatable accuracy, mission after mission, shot after shot.”

The IMS’s one-piece construction includes pre-set ring spacing, which allows easy mounting of the scope. It also provides for highly accurate return-to-zero because the user needs to mark only one location on the rail.

Leupold’s IMS comes in a matte back finish and can be used for mounting riflescopes with one- inch, 30mm and 34mm maintubes.

Leupold & Stevens, Inc. is a fifth- generation, family-owned company. The product line includes rifle, handgun and spotting scopes; binoculars; rangefinders; trail cameras; flashlights; mounting systems; and optical tools and accessories.
Tags: Ammoland.com)- As hunting seasons approach around the country, Leupold® offers the following ideas for using optics technology to achieve more success afield.

Customize. Riflescopes can be customized more than ever to suit individual preferences and specific hunting conditions. For example, Leupold offers a Custom Dial System® (CDS®) feature for its VX®-3 riflescopes. CDS helps hunters and shooters get on target at any range, with any load, by matching their scopes to the ballistics of their ammunition. For additional information, go to www.leupold.com/VX-3CDS.

Accurize. Advancements in optics technology help hunters shoot with great accuracy.

Recent examples include the True Ballistic Range® (TBR®) feature in selected models of Leupold’s RX® and Vendetta™ rangefinders. TBR automatically calculates the shot angle and provides the incline-adjusted distance to the target, rather than the straight-line distance. Another example: range-estimating riflescope reticles for specific types of hunting, such as Leupold’s Boone and Crockett® Big Game Reticle and Varmint Hunter’s Reticle.

Accessorize. Various accessories are now available to enhance riflescope performance. Case in point: Leupold’s Alumina® thread-on accessories, which help hunters use the available light to their advantage. With the Alumina system, a riflescope can be adapted to various light conditions, enhancing the visibility of game animals.

Illuminate. It’s no secret that some of the best hunting often occurs in the low light of early morning or late evening. To help hunters take full advantage of “prime time,” modern riflescopes come with upgraded features such as premium lens coatings and illuminated reticles.

Recent innovations include Leupold’s Xtended Twilight Lens System™ and Third Generation For more information on the Leupold products mentioned above, go to www.leupold.com, or call 1-800-LEUPOLD or 503-526-1400. Good hunting!

About:<br

This feature ensures rock-solid reticle adjustment is maintained during rough going and stressful conditions on the battlefield.

“This new scope incorporates all of the features our warfighters have been asking for,” said Kevin Trepa, Leupold’s vice president of tactical sales and marketing. “We are working hard to design, manufacture and deliver the tools they need to get the job done.”

Leupold President and CEO Calvin Johnston added, “We are excited that our newest riflescope is part of Remington’s upgraded M-24E1 Sniper Weapon System. Leupold will continue to leverage its Oregon-based workforce to provide the military with superior products built to their specifications.”

Other key features of the new ER/T include M5 windage and elevation adjustment dials with audible, tactile 1/10 (0.1) milliradian clicks to match the range-estimating, mil-based Horus reticle options. This allows fast, intuitive shot correction in the field. An elevation zero-stop helps prevent under-rotation in high-stress situations.

With the battle-proven Horus H27 or H58 reticle in the front focal plane, the scope offers the versatility of a variable magnification optic and the ability to accurately range at all magnification settings (the reticle magnifies with the image).

Leupold’s Xtended Twilight Lens System delivers an exceptionally clear, bright sight picture for outstanding target discrimination at all powers and in a wide range of lighting and environmental conditions. A lockable fast-focus eyepiece makes reticle focus simple to achieve and maintain. It also enables long eye relief to provide the shooter with nearly instant target acquisition.

Other key features include side focus parallax adjustment for fast, easy parallax focusing from 75 yards to infinity, from any shooting position. The 34mm maintube provides exceptional strength and allows for maximum windage and elevation adjustment.

The Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm ER/T M5 Locking Adjustment riflescope is waterproof, fog proof and shock proof. Exhaustive testing in the factory and field ensures durability. With its M5 Locking Adjustment, the scope’s platform is unique in the Mark 4 ER/T line. It is controlled under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and limited to domestic and international government sales only.

Leupold has offered precision optics for tactical applications since the 1983 introduction of Ultra riflescopes, which were designed to excel under the most extreme battlefield conditions. Today, more Leupold long-range optics are in service with the U.S. military than any other brand. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Leupold’s Tactical Optics Division introduces the CM-R2 reticle, which allows tactical and competitive shooters to quickly and accurately estimate range and engage targets.

By combining the ranging ability of Leupold’s Special Purpose Reticle (SPR) with the quick acquisition of the Leupold Circle Dot reticle, the CM-R2 provides the flexibility necessary on the modern battlefield or 3-gun course. The CM-R2 preserves the instinctive fire capabilities of the Circle Dot for the short-range, low magnification needs of the 3-gun competitor or CQB warfighter.

“The CM-R2 reticle makes our battlefield-proven Ammoland.com)- Leupold’s Tactical Optics Division announces the addition of Horus reticle options for the Mark 4 12-40x60mm Tactical Spotting Scope.

Now available to civilian shooting enthusiasts, law enforcement personnel and other armed professionals, this Mark 4 spotter is the standard Scout Sniper Observation Telescope (SSOT) of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Horus H32 and H36 reticles join the Leupold Mil Dot reticle as options. The H32 has a mil line for target measurement and speed estimation, while the H36 features an inverted “L” in Inch Of Angle (IOA) for easy ranging. The Mil Dot reticle matches those found in Leupold Mark 4 riflescopes, allowing a spotter to quickly range a target, view the same sight picture as the shooter and convey necessary adjustments.

“Our Mark 4 Tactical Spotting Scope provides additional flexibility and capability, making the users that much more effective,” said Kevin Trepa, Leupold’s vice president of tactical sales and marketing.

“This spotter is superior in terms of clarity, brightness and contrast. With the Horus and Mil Dot reticles, it becomes an even more powerful tool, giving spotters and shooters a common frame of reference and measurement, so communication is efficient and effective. It’s an excellent spotter for observation and other uses such as gathering hard data, ranging targets, estimating target speeds and second-shot correction.”

Horus Vision

Other key features of the Mark 4 Tactical Spotting Scope include exceptional ruggedness, light weight (37 ounces), a 100% waterproof body and premium optics. The extremely durable armored magnesium body allows for this variable-power spotter to replace the fixed 20X M49 spotting scope that was used by the Marines since World War II.

Multicoat 4 lenses coupled with a light absorbing interior finish suppress glare and provide an extraordinarily crisp and bright image. Leupold’s efficient Folded Light Path (FLP) lens and mirror optical system allow the Mark 4 to deliver the effective optical path of a scope twice its length.

Even at the highest magnification, the Mark 4 offers an expansive field of view, allowing for easy tracking and locating of targets. The generous, long eye relief and rubber fold-down eyecups make the Mark 4 spotter comfortable to use for the prolonged period often experienced by the Marine scout sniper. Leupold’s nitrogen charging system and sealing technology ensure absolute waterproof performance.

Measuring 12.4 inches in length, the Mark 4 Tactical Spotting Scope mounts on a tripod and comes with a form-fitting, padded soft-side case with easy access panels. The case, which has a detachable strap, can remain on the scope at all times, eliminating the need for lens covers. Selected options can be retrofitted for existing <a

The system utilizes Leupold’s index matched glass with lens coatings designed to optimize the transmission of low-light wavelengths. As a result, shooters receive a crisper, brighter sight picture in dim light than ever before.

Following are key features of the available options:

M5 windage and elevation adjustment dials have audible, tactile 1/10 (0.1) milliradian clicks to match range-estimating, mil-based reticle options. This allows fast and easy correction in the field, resulting in greater shooting precision.

Horus reticles are mil-based and employ an advanced two-dimensional grid system that helps enhance both accuracy and ease of use. The fine grid marks do not obscure targets and thus allow rapid engagement, while the intuitive design can dramatically reduce training time. Horus reticle options include the H26, H27, H36, H37 and H58.

Front focal plane reticles allow the operator to use the scope on any magnification while retaining the exact spacing of range-estimating reticle features (the reticle magnifies with the image). Consequently, the operator can accurately estimate range and calculate holdovers at all power settings.

Leupold’s third-generation illuminated riflescope reticles advance the technology with an array of features designed to provide a user-friendly, intuitive system for fast target acquisition in tactical low-light situations. Third-generation illumination offers a 15 percent brighter reticle, eight different intensity settings (two compatible with night-vision equipment) and redesigned control dials to enhance ease of use.

While no single Mark 4 riflescope can be fitted with all the upgrade options, numerous variations exist and most models are capable of accepting multiple upgrades. To determine specific options available for particular scopes, contact Leupold Tactical Optics at 1-800-LEUPOLD.

Ready for deployment, Mark 4 ER/T, LR/T and MR/T riflescopes are waterproof, fog proof and shock proof. A 30mm maintube provides exceptional strength and allows for a wide range of windage and elevation adjustment. Exhaustive testing in the factory and field ensures durability. Flip-open lens covers are standard issue. Each scope comes in a matte black finish and is covered by the company’s Tactical Optics Warranty.

Leupold has offered precision optics for tactical applications since the 1985 introduction of Ultra riflescopes, which were designed to excel under the most extreme battlefield conditions.
