class="wp-caption-text">AmmoLand Gun News

Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)- President Barack Obama has a problem, a problem much bigger than his plummeting poll numbers among black voters, the ever-worsening housing market, or the chronically high national unemployment numbers.

Although these are all bad and must be weighing down on him —whether he admits it or not— they are minor compared to his deeper problem, which is his inability to handle criticism, his inability to handle the truth.

We first saw this when Obama was starting to run for president and he put reporters “on notice” regarding comments about the size of his ears. Since then we’ve seen it in the way he locks out reporters who ask hard questions and, most recently, in the way he appears to have lodged a complaint with Gov. Jan Brewer regarding her criticism of the way he has gone to war with Arizona to keep that state from defending its southern border.

If you’ll recall, in December 2006, after New York Times’ reporter Maureen Dowd had written about how Obama’s “ears stick out,” Obama tracked her down at a speaking engagement and said: “I just want to put you on notice. I’m very sensitive,” adding, “I was teased relentlessly when I was a kid about my big ears.” (Rush Limbaugh was then criticized for seizing on that comment and warning people that it demonstrated Obama’s skin was too thin for the rigors of the presidency. And in retrospect, Limbaugh was right.)

Perhaps you remember the April 2011 exchange that took place between Obama and Dallas news reporter Brad Watson, during an interview wherein Watson asked the president pointed, probing questions instead of the kind of light and fluffy stuff a CNN reporter asks when he or she gets the chance. For example, as the two sat face to face, Watson looked right at Obama and asked: “Why do you think you’re so unpopular in Texas?” And when Obama tried to make it look like he wasn’t that unpopular in Texas, saying he’d only lost in 2008 by a “few percentage points,” Watson countered: “Well, you lost by about 10%. 55 to 44.” And because Obama can’t handle criticism, he became noticeably bothered as the questions continued. When the short interview was over, an angry Obama whispered to Watson: “Let me finish my answers next time we do an interview.”

Of course Watson won’t get another interview, because Obama locks reporters out if they dare take him to task. As Keith Koffler wrote of Obama’s reaction to Watson back in April, “Look how thin-skinned he can be.”

Speaking of thin-skinned, that’s the exact phrase Gov. Brewer used to describe Obama after he walked across the tarmac in Phoenix on Wednesday and greeted Brewer not with “hello” or “good to see you,” but with a complaint about how she’d described his efforts to deep-end Arizona’s S.B. 1070. He said he’d read the complaint in a passage from her book, “Scorpions for Breakfast.”

There Brewer wrote:

[Obama] has repeatedly made fun of those of us who want to see the law enforced, saying we want a ‘moat’ with ‘alligators’ in it around our country. The reason he has resorted to these failed attempts at humor, I think, is that he supports a policy that is fundamentally undemocratic, and he knows it.

Said Brewer of the exchange: “He brought up my book and he was a little tense. He said he read the excerpt and didn’t think I was very cordial. I said we’d have to agree to disagree. He was a little thin-skinned and tense, to say the least.”

The bottom line: Obama can’t handle criticism. Obama can’t handle the truth. Dowd proved it in 2006, Watson proved in 2011, and Gov. Brewer proved it again two days ago.

<div

Send your stories directly to GRNC president Paul Valone at president@GRNC.org.

Mike Luo’s Crusade
Following an extensive interview between GRNC president Paul Valone and New York Times reporter Mike Luo, the Times is now trying to depict North Carolina’s population of concealed handgun permit-holders as rife with felons. To support his claims, Luo relies on flawed methodology, misuse of anecdotal data, and selectively ignored facts he learned during the interview. The current piece is at least the third time Luo has written biased and misleading articles on gun ownership.

Biased Anti-Gun NY Times Reporter Mike Luo

Figures lie…
Although Luo claims to have done data-matching between criminal databases and permit-holders, he admitted confirming only a dozen matches with the NC State Bureau of Investigation.

Data matching between large databases is subject to high rates of “false positives” depending on the number and type of parameters matched.

To quote one data mining whiz: “The problem is that if you’re trying to search a couple of large data sets for something that occurs infrequently, the number of true hits (if any) is likely to be far less than the number of false positives.”

…and liars figure
When asked whether Luo would confirm all matches with the SBI, or whether he would do statistical analysis of his data, determining what percentage of North Carolina permit-holders commit crimes, or whether he would simply provide misleading anecdotal examples as he did on a November 13, 2011 piece on restoration of gun rights for felons, Luo refused to answer.

How Luo creates a false impression
The plural of “anecdote” is not “data”: By pulling a small number of anecdotes rather than verifying all of the data, Luo hopes to paint a false portrait of NC concealed handgun permit-holders as criminals.

Selective data: Luo has a reputation among researchers for cherry-picking research to support his assertions, and for failing to disclose the gun-related leanings of researchers he cites.

The Charlotte Observer fell over itself to propagate Luo’s deceptive story

The Charlotte Observer ran this insult to their gun-owning readership as front page news!

GRNC president Paul Valone responds

“What The New York Times recently published is a biased ‘hit piece’ designed to undermine the unerringly successful expansion of concealed carry laws. By cherry-picking anecdotes from error-prone data matching, reporter Michael Luo creates a false impression of widespread abuse by concealed handgun permit-holders. Luo admits not bothering to confirm more than a handful of the matches found, so given the small data set used, the number of “false positives” may well exceed the number of accurate matches.

“Even Luo’s claim of 2,400 crimes by permit-holders – which includes DUI convictions and relatively minor misdemeanors – represents only a tiny fraction (0.6%) of the 395,251 concealed handgun permits approved since 1995. Moreover, data from other states reveals that few permit revocations result from misuse of firearms.

“As Luo was told during the interview (but chose to ignore), when Grass Roots North Carolina helped draft the state’s concealed handgun law in 1995, we gave law enforcement officials the tools for permit revocations by attaching concealed handgun permit information to the state drivers’ license database. Any concealed handgun permit-holder arrested for a crime would be immediately identified as such.

“Furthermore, nothing in the law prevents the North Carolina Department of Justice from doing checks on permit-holders to ensure they remain in compliance with the law, nor would we oppose such an effort. If the state fails to avail themselves of those tools, the problem lies not within the concealed handgun law, but instead within its enforcement.”

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED:

Leave Website Comments: Leave comments on both the New York Times and Charlotte Observer websites

NYT:http://tiny.cc/t9wpo

Charlotte Observer: http://tiny.cc/uhq04

Use Paul Valone’s response to guide your comments

Write Letters to the Editor

Write letters to the Editor of both newspapers

You can submit a letter to the Charlotte Observer here: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2008/08/05/108022/write-the-forum.html

You can submit a letter to the New York Times here: http://www.nytimes.com/content/help/site/editorial/letters/letters.html

Use the suggested text below to guide your letters.

Deliver This Message

Dear Editor,

I was very disappointed by Mike Luo’s one-sided and flagrantly misleading article that you recently and irresponsibly published. This article was an affront to millions of law-abiding North Carolinian gun owners.

It is telling that Luo claims to provide a “detailed look” at concealed carry in our state, but doesn’t bother to go even to the minimal extent of comparing handgun permittees to the NC population at large.

If he had been interested in the truth he would have learned, and could have responsibly communicated to your readers, that North Carolinians with concealed handgun permits are orders of magnitude less likely to be convicted of crime than is the general population.

According to Luo’s own numbers, out of 240,000 permittees only 2400 were convicted of felonies and misdemeanors over the last five years. This is a rate of 1 % in five years, or 0.2 % per year. For NC in general from 2005 to 2010 (the latest information available from DOJ) there was a yearly average of 5333 felonies (not including misdemeanors) committed per 100,000 in population, a rate of 5.3 % per year.

Luo’s type of politically-motivated yellow journalism has become all too common. Shame on you for participating in his disservice to your readers, and for delivering his insult to hundreds of thousands of law-abiding NC concealed handgun permittees.

About:
Ammoland.com)- While Occupy protesters continue to rant in select cities around the country, I’m wondering who is shadier: corporate Wall Street or corporate media?

Of course, there’s no surprise or secret in saying that the mainstream media (MSM) are biased. Even when the CBS producer inadvertently sent an anti-Michele Bachmann email to one of her own staff members during last Saturday night’s GOP debates, her campaign manager confessed it was another evidence of “what every conservative already knows — the liberal mainstream media elites are manipulating the Republican debates by purposely suppressing our conservative message.”

But have you noticed the particularly rapid acceleration of progressive MSM news reports in the last decade? Even for veteran news viewers, it is sometimes difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.

But how fair is that augmented bias for most trusting and unsuspecting Americans who turn to news for objectivity and comprehensive reporting?

Like many of you, my wife Gena and I are avid watchers of local, national and global news. Though we have our own preferences, we try to acquire a broad understanding of the big issues. But for quite some time, if we want to obtain the “complete news,” we often have to go to multiple sources. And we feel for other hardworking people (including homemakers) who don’t have the time to read and research like we do.

Gone are the days when broadcasters like Walter Cronkite attempted to convey objective and unbiased news. Propaganda seems to be at the heart of most national news. Passions, preferences and political persuasions permeate nearly all the news. Opine is ubiquitous and made obvious alone by many broadcasters’ tone of voice or facial expressions.

As reported by NewsBusters (www.newsbusters.org), consider in a single day last week how the MSM angled their reporting in ways to manipulate public opinion and align it with their corporate media (supporters) bias, which ironically (or maybe not so) parallels White House prejudice.

— “Networks Hit Cain With 117 Stories; ABC: Accusers Seek ‘Safety in Numbers’ From Cain.”

— “NBC Uses Penn State Scandal to Slam Catholic Church.”

— “NPR Asks Bill Clinton: Obama’s Seen As Liberal, ‘How’d That Happen’?”

— “New York Times Spikes Fast & Furious Hearing in Print, Omits Eric Holder’s Admission Completely.”

— “CNN to Perry: Convince Us Your Campaign Isn’t Finished.”

— “New York Times Twice Omits Obama From Headline to Embarrassing Insults of Netanyahu.”

— “Newt Mocks (CNBC journalist’s) ‘Funny’ Defense of the Liberal Media.”

— “CNN Spins Elections as Republican Setback.”

— “ABC and CBS Spike Ohioans Rejection of ObamaCare Mandate, NBC Sees Voter Call for ‘Restraint.”

The Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs even confessed that big business monies funneled via the MSM molds and directs the public’s social and political viewpoints: “The summits of American business now control or powerfully influence the major media that create American public opinion.”

The fact is that the primary networks — ABC, CBS and NBC — and their smaller cable channels are owned and financed by an interlocking network of corporate conglomerates and controlled by progressive and politically biased proprietors.

Billionaire moguls like George Soros are using millions and millions of dollars not to ensure the second coming or election of President Obama but also to carry out a greater goal of chipping away the very foundations of our republic.

Just a few months ago, Media Research Center’s Dan Gainor exposed globalist George Soros’ financial connections to MSM and his funding of $52 million to influence and direct journalism in the national networks. Or do you think it’s merely a coincidence that Soros has ties to over 30 major news organizations, including The New York Times, The Associated Press, The Washington Post, NBC and ABC, and yet no one hears anything from those networks about his behind-the-scenes finagling and financing?

It fascinates me that Occupiers hate the rich cats unless they help finance their cause or rally at their sides, like George Soros and Michael Moore.

It prompts one to wonder: Why haven’t such power relations been reported by the MSM? And would they be so silent if the correlations were between such agents of control and the tea party?

For example, even with its liberal bent, Snopes.com just verified last Thursday that Vice President Joe Biden’s attorney son, Robert Hunter Biden, was retained for years to “undertake some lobbying efforts on behalf of Brookfield Office Properties,” which just happens to own Zuccotti Park in New York, where the Occupiers rally their national movement.

Snopes.com also verified that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s live-in girlfriend, Diana L. Taylor, is on the board of directors of Brookfield Office Properties.

And just two months ago in September, the federal government’s Department of Energy guaranteed a stimulus “loan” of $168.9 million to Brookfield Asset Management, which is a parent company of Brookfield Office Properties.

But I’m sure those local and Washington governmental associations with Occupy Wall Street are all just coincidental and inconsequential, right?

(In Part 2, during Thanksgiving week, I’ll detail George Soros’ most recent covert “investment” in the 2012 Obama presidential campaign and detail much further his collective goal and master plan with the MSM and the White House itself.)

AR15.com

Honeoye Falls, NY -(Ammoland.com)- This month’s featured thread brings up some interesting issues, but the one I am focusing on is that of the left wing media altering the facts to drive their agenda.

The thread is titled NBC apologizes for cutting “under God” from Pledge of Allegiance before U.S. Open and revolves around the production staff at NBC intentionally editing out the phrase “under God” from their US open coverage of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Now, there were many arguments in the thread about whether the phrase should even be in the Pledge or whether the Pledge is ‘communist indoctrination’. Those are secondary issues though when looking at how this major news media outlet chose to frame their broadcast to fit their political agenda.

It is of course nothing new for television and print media to do these types of things but it is something that can not be ignored. This is obviously a religious issue for many, but let’s remember that it just as easily could have been a 2nd amendment issue.

How often do we see the words “assault rifle” used in coverage of criminal acts? How often do we see “ammunition stockpile” used when a gun owner is arrested with a few hundred rounds? I bet you could pick up any large city’s daily this morning and read about how “the gun show loophole” is allowing thousands of firearms to get into the hands of criminals.

As responsible gun owners we know these things are sensationalized and sometimes even flat out made up by, for lack of a better word, ‘ignorant’ reporters and news editors.

It’s not a stretch to say that if this had been coverage of a firearms related story this ‘news’ agency would have found a way to keep the words “shall not be infringed” from being published when the second amendment was referenced.

The camel’s nose under the tent? I think we are at the point of the entire camel sharing our sleeping bags.

If we as consumers allow these news outlets to continue to frame the facts in the manner of their choosing, it won’t be long (some would argue it’s already too late) until our history as a free people is eroded and twisted to show some liberal vision of what should have happened throughout the story of our great country as opposed to what really has happened.

The only way to stop this behavior is to hit these news agencies where it hurts them the most- their wallets. Conservatives and moderates carry a big stick when it comes to consumer spending. What would happen if we were to all stand up and let the major advertisers of these companies know that we will not be spending our hard earned cash on their products as long as they continued to support this type of politically driven news?

We can always just sit back and complain about how things should be different. That the media should be an impartial watchdog for the citizen, and how unfortunate it is that certain elites that control these companies can now push their belief systems on us and our children. But with just a little effort and a little energy, we can stand up and say enough is enough.

It was interesting to note that while NBC apologized if anyone was offended, the well written apology was couched in terms that implied that this was not the first or last time they intended to use this behavior.

Take a few minutes to read the thread and the story attached. Leave your 2 cents if you’d like. But, more importantly take a few minutes to fire off an email to a couple of NBC’s advertisers and let them know just exactly how you feel about this issue.

If enough of us stand together maybe we can reverse the trend of politically driven media coverage from our country’s major news outlets.

About:
Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms Ownership

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- “Gun Control” advocates fall into only two categories: the Liars and the Ignorant.

There is no third category.

The Liars invent the lies. The Ignorant believe the lies and repeat them.

Truly fervent “gun control” advocates are quite often mentally ill. Their most common clinical symptoms, projection and denial, are barely below the surface.

Because they often entertain a warped contempt of other human beings, they don’t trust themselves with guns, so they would prohibit firearms to all. They also entertain a primitive superstition about an inanimate object: “Guns are bad! Guns kill people!”

Read what a psychiatrist has to say about this in “Raging Against Self Defense”. This JPFO essay will open your eyes, and give you an insight into the twisted mentality of the likes of victim vulture Sarah Brady or tragedy addict Representative Carolyn McCarthy. Both Brady and McCarthy are hysterical crybaby liars. Their mental illness bubbles just below the surface, actually becoming visible at times.

An altogether different category of liar is the authoritarian sociopath. Billionaire George Soros, Senator Charles Schumer, and billionaire NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg are sociopathic liars. They have no conscience. They would simply rule over all of us. They have no hidden, subconscious agenda like the classic mental and emotional cripple Sarah Brady. These fellows are simply cold, calculating evil liars who know exactly what they are doing. (Just to be “gender neutral”: Senator Dianne Feinstein, the “Queen Bee of Gun Control” seems to have evolved rather easily into the higher ranks of the calculating, sociopathic liars. And a disgusting Australian harridan, Rebecca Peters, has, on George Soros money, taken her perverse, genocide-inviting distortions all the way to the U.N.)

Gun Control Dummies
On the other hand, the Ignorant “gun control” advocates are those, mostly well intentioned, people who have swallowed, and now believe, the lies fed to them by the cunning and malicious Liars.

Armies of deluded pastors, rabbis, and priests fill the ranks of what I call “gun control dummies”. They just don’t know any better. Of course, many of them are emotionally manipulated by their own projection and denial. For an outstanding categorization of the seven major types of “gun control” advocate, you must see Gus Cotey’s masterful essay here.

The main thing that the Liars and the Ignorant share in common is a corruption of the linguistic meaning of firearms related words. They, because they also control the mainstream media to a huge extent, have been able to actually invent terminology, or in many cases change the everyday meaning of words!

It is a stunning accomplishment … were it not in the service of a great evil.

Here are a few of their classic semantic manipulations:

“Gun Control”: This is the “big daddy”, the cornerstone, the very foundation of the gun prohibitionists’ deceptive artifice. The phrase, on first hearing, sounds innocuous. After all, why wouldn’t people carefully “control” their firearms?

However, what “gun control” actually means is:

Gun owner registration. Your name and address connected with a firearm’s registration number. A paper trail (or soon-to-be computer trail) straight to the door of any gun owner.

The taxation or licensing of a Constitutionally guaranteed, inalienable, G-d given right to self defense. When you tax something you “infringe” upon it. Burdensome taxation and licensing fees move firearms ownership out of the hands of the honest and law abiding poor, the very people who, day by day most need the tools of self defense.

A revocable permission, given by a fickle government, to bear arms in your self defense or the defense of the innocent. (Gun ownership “permits” or “carry permits”.) Again, blatant infringement of a Constitutional Right.

And these tactics set in place the absolutely essential mechanisms required to institute gun bans and confiscations. See: JPFO’s “Innocents Betrayed“. If a government-gone-bad doesn’t know who owns the guns, and where the guns are, that government cannot effectively disarm its citizenry.

“Assault Weapon”: This truly sleazy piece of semantic sedition can be laid right at the feet of Josh Sugarmann, Minister of Propaganda for the Violence Policy Center, and also an apparently compulsive liar. Sugarmann INVENTED the phrase, with the help of the liberal anti-gun mainstream media shills. An “assault weapon” is now any semi automatic rifle greater than .22 caliber.

“The semi-automatic weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons — anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun — can only increase that chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.” — Josh Sugarmann, 1988, Violence Policy Center.

And it is working! Notice how, even when a hugely negative story breaks about BATFE’s horrific Mexican gun smuggling debacle, “GunRunner“, only a very few media outlets accurately report the weapons illegally smuggled into Mexico under BATFE supervision as what they actually are: semi automatic rifles;.

Reporters who should know better are still mindlessly repeating Sugarmann’s “assault weapons” word trickery. Sugarmann has truly earned “The Joseph Goebells of Gun Control Award”. He’s one of a kind. A naked, and unashamed, manipulative liar.

Next, we explore some lesser used, but effective anti-gun linguistic tid bits:

“Personal Arsenal”: This is owning anything over two guns. Two guns is “Multiple Weapons”.

A “Weapons Cache”: This seems to be three or more guns. A “Hidden Weapons Cache” means you don’t leave your guns on the kitchen table all day long.

A “Stockpile of Ammunition” is anything over twenty rounds of any caliber. It’s really a “stockpile” if you have several calibers in your “cache”. That makes you a “Survivalist” or a “Militia Member”.

“Sniper Rifle”. This one didn’t have anywhere near the legs of Sugarmann’s “assault weapons” jive. This is meant to be any deer rifle with a scope. As I recall vaguely, it was floated briefly by Teddy Kennedy. But since even the myopic Elmer Fudds in the gun owning community would get angry enough to do something about a “Sniper Rifle Ban”, this trial balloon deflated and is lying limply in the gun prohibitionist’s back drawer for later use.

Oh wait! Actually it’s back! Calls to ban the .50 caliber Barrett bolt action! Now let’s see if they can just bring that caliber size down a bit, eh?

After all, America has more people capable of one inch groups at one hundred yards than any other nation on Earth. Personally, I find this somewhat comforting. Others do not.

“High Capacity Magazine”: Interestingly, nearly every cop in America is packing two or three “high cap” ammunition magazines on their duty belt: One “high cap” mag in their pistol, and one or two in “mag holders” on the other side. Since cops have a greater G-d given right to defend themselves than we “We The Little People”, Sarah Brady and Josh Sugarmann and Mike Bloomberg don’t call cop mags “high capacity”. They’re just called “standard service equipment”.

“Explosives”. Gun powder like you buy at the sporting section in most Wal Marts for reloading. And notice how the BATF really glommed onto “Explosives” and got it added to their title, like Cub Scouts collecting merit badges. Always remember to call them the “BATFE“. These dumb, jack booted jocks with machine guns deserve equal doses of ridicule and contempt. A large number of them also deserve jail time. Just watch. (see ATF’s Fast & Furious Scandal)

“Armor Piercing Ammunition”: Uhhh … like how thick of armor? And why can cops and soldiers have it and “We The Little People” cannot?

“Dum Dum Bullets” aka “hollow points“. The opposite of “Armor Piercing Ammunition“, so they must be okay … right? Wrong. They are ’s actually as bad! Why? Because all ammo, and all guns, are bad! Friends, wake up and smell the skunk. It’s right at your back door.

This is just an incomplete list of the word play of “gun control”. (“Saturday Night Special” was a beauty, but now seemingly out of favor.)

Oh yeah! How about “Reasonable gun control”? I mean who wants to be “unreasonable”?

Let’s try to reach “Common Ground” shall we?

And add to that “Gun Safety“, which, when pronounced by a Sarah Brady or Charles Schumer simply means a ban on guns?

The point being made here is that this will not stop! It’s ALWAYS a lie.

We won the Heller decision. We won the McDonald decision. They deserve and NEED our voices to join with theirs! WE NEED to fight in the media so that THEY can fight in the Assembly. Here’s a case in-point; Representative Kelly Hastings (R, GRNC-****) has commented on the Shelby Star piece (http://www.shelbystar.com/news/grounds-55867-guns-lawmakers.html) vigorously defending his position on HB 650 – he deserves our thanks, and some help to deflect the liberal Chicken Littles (join his comments first, and send him an email of support: Kelly.Hastings@ncleg.net).

We need to respond WITH AUTHORITY in two ways: by writing our own editorial letters; and by commenting on anti-gun pieces on newspaper websites. Let no anti-gun statement be made unopposed!

Here are points to make in letters and comments:

Current laws make accidental felons out of thousands of people who unknowingly transit educational property (not all educational property comprises campuses – public streets run through some, such as Hillsboro St. in Raleigh).

Where does mass-violence typically occur? Schools! Because they are ‘gun free zones’! See http://sn112w.snt112.mail.live.com/default.aspx?wa=wsignin1.0, and http://www.davekopel.com/2a/othwr/principal&gun.htm

Clear evidence, from scholarly studies demonstrate ‘gun free zones’ attract violence, and ‘right to carry’ laws decrease it: See http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=272929

Where are school shootings not a problem? ISRAEL, surrounded by violence and hostility, but where teachers AND STUDENTS are ENCOURAGED to carry concealed weapons! See http://www.canfirearms.ca/Skeeter/Lott/Lott1.html

What YOU can do…

Monitor the Opinion pages of your local newspaper for pieces critical of HB 650 and weapons on educational property. RESPOND to editorials and letters – each and EVERY one!

Monitor your local newspaper’s website for gun rights-related pieces, especially anti-HB 650 opinions, and comment on EVERY one!

We’ve won some battles, but the WAR is still in play. If we all do our part WE WILL WIN!

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED:
Write and Comment

Write a letter to the Editor of your local paper in support of HB 650, Castle Doctrine protection for North Carolinians, and reduction of malicious gun-related entrapment laws.

Register on the website of your local paper and monitor the Opinion and Editorial pages for content critical of Second Amendment Rights. Notify GRNC of any hostile content you encounter by email (alert@grnc.org), and respond to each item with a Comment. Use the points highlighted above to guide your responses.

This effort is significant, but if we want to keep and bear arms in North Carolina, we ALL need to ACT NOW!

About:
What a pile of Bull "Elephant" Shit...is that a Gun Owner under there?

Never Never Land, - -(AmmoLand.com)-

“There was a demonstration in Virginia over the weekend consisting of gun owners demonstrating for what or against what no one really knew and maybe they didn’t either. But it probably had to do with a second amendment right for them to own guns that doesn’t exist. And never did.If there is one thing both conservatives, many Democrats and most journalists have in common its their constitutional ignorance of the second amendment and their false belief that the second amendment has anything to do with an individual’s right to own a gun.

It doesn’t and it never did.

But to listen to Obama, and many Democrats and liberals like Ed Schultz the other night on MSNBC, along with conservatives, they assume they know what the amendment means, assume it gives individuals the right to own guns, and as is the case with so many mistaken assumptions made in America, they are all wrong.

How do we know? Let us count the ways. First, there has never been one single Supreme Court ruling that has held the Second Amendment gives people the right to own guns ( “Heller”, which many advocates like to quote, actually skirted the entire issue and focused instead on the status of the District of Columbia as not being a state and ducked on the whole question of the second amendment and states rights). You would think with all the controversy surrounding guns that somewhere along the line there would have been a case or a challenge where the Supreme Court addressed the issue, but there has never been an affirmation of the Second Amendment applying to individuals. Ever.

The entire and sole purpose of the second amendment was to give the states the right to have their own armed militia for the defense of the state. It had nothing to do with individuals owning guns for their own self defense. That already was the case. The second amendment guaranteed the states the right to have and maintain ( “keep and bear) arms for the defense of the state as a whole. And not just armed with guns. With any weapons they wished including cannon, war ships, rockets, anything, which is why state’s have armories. All anyone has to do to understand the second amendment is read it.

The right to keep and bear arms is not about what guns you have. It does not guarantee that you have the right to walk into a 7-11 carrying your gun and if you disagree, try doing in New York. They’ll find a nice cell for you maybe next to Plaxico Burress the former NY Giant wide receiver who is doing 3 years in jail for carrying a gun in New York City.

And what about the words ” to bear arms”? It does not mean to go hunting or to take your gun to a gun show, go target shooting, show it off or even to shoot a burglar. In 1789 America and to the Founders who authored the amendment “to bear arms”, meant only one thing — to go to war.”

Are you still reading?
Arizona Game and Fish Department

Arizona --(AmmoLand.com)- Various media outlets on Saturday, March 13 reported the accidental shooting of an 12-year-old-boy near the Ben Avery Shooting Facility.

While most reports of the incident were accurate, the Arizona Game and Fish Department wants to make certain the public understands the incident did not occur on Ben Avery Shooting Facility and the accidental shooting was self-inflicted.

The Phoenix Police Department said the child was injured around 11 a.m. on Saturday in a desert area west of the Shooting Facility boundary. The child was target shooting with his father and grandfather when the accident occurred.

When the initial call for assistance was received, Ben Avery Shooting Facility personnel assisted Phoenix Police Department officers in searching and clearing all range facilities to make certain the incident didn’t occur on the range or that other activity on the range didn’t contributed to the accident.

Arizona Game and Fish Department property was used as a staging area to provide emergency treatment and load the boy onto a medical transport helicopter.

The Ben Avery Shooting Facility is located on the northwest corner of I-17 and Carefree Highway in north Phoenix. Situated on 1,650 acres, it is one of the largest government-operated recreational shooting complexes in the world.

It averages more than 120,000 shooters per year and is home to a number of regional- and national-class competitions and other major events. Offering a wide array of target-shooting opportunities, the facility has 67 covered stations at the main range (all handicap accessible), and more than 25 additional rifle, pistol, and archery ranges for recreational and competitive shooting. The Clay Target Center offers 18-lighted trap/skeet overlay fields and two sporting clays courses.

About:<br

They are not ‘evil’ or ‘bad’ firearms, as some would have you think,” Sanetti emphasized.

<object

This military-to-civilian evolution can be seen in some of the most famous rifle models of all time, including the 1903 Springfield bolt-action rifle of World War I, the Garand semi-automatic rifle of World War II and the M-16 rifle of the Vietnam era. In the case of the M-16, its civilian version, the AR-15, was modified so that it functioned only as a semi-automatic.

Today’s AR-15-style modern sporting rifles are just another step in the evolution of the tools hunters and target shooters use to enjoy their activities. These rifles may not look like current hunting rifles, but remember, your current hunting rifle probably doesn’t look much like your grandfather’s rifle either.

Sanetti emphasized that these AR-15-platform sporting rifles are not “assault weapons,” as they are frequently and incorrectly labeled by organizations, media and elected officials who would like to ban them. “An assault weapon is fully automatic — a machine gun — while rifles based on the AR-15 platform are semi-automatic,” said Sanetti. “Civilian ownership of fully automatic firearms has been severely restricted since 1934.”

The multi-pronged campaign will use print, video and Web-based components to reach as wide an audience as possible, with emphasis placed on educating sportsmen whose preference for traditional-looking firearms can lead them to misunderstand AR-15-platform rifles and to even describe them using terms such as “assault weapon,” which inadvertently lends support to those wanting to ban these rifles.

The campaign’s educational ads have been placed in major firearm and sporting magazines such as Field & Stream and Outdoor Life and on outdoor cable television networks. The campaign’s materials can also be seen on a dedicated Web site, which expands the educational messages delivered in the media campaign to promote an even better understanding of how civilian sporting rifles have evolved from military rifles over time.

The Web site offers video, a timeline of military-to-civilian rifle evolution plus interactive features that identify the components and functionality of modern sporting rifles. There is also a facts section of the site, where gun owners can arm themselves with facts to correct individuals, media and organizations who are misinformed about these rifles.

“We ask everyone who values their gun ownership rights to correct misunderstandings about the use and operation of these modern sporting rifles,” said Sanetti. “If we let misinformation go unchecked, we only assist those who would ban ownership of these and other types of semi-automatic firearms, like your duck-hunting shotgun. We can’t let that happen.”

Visit the Web site at www.nssf.org/MSR to learn more about modern sporting rifles.

About NSSF<br
