class="wp-caption-text">Parabellum Armament

Cincinnati OH --(Ammoland.com)- Parabellum Armament Company, a veteran owned and operated company specializing in the manufacture and distribution of USA made products for military, law enforcement and responsible citizens, in partnership with Arma Dynamics is proud to announce the new line of Ambidextrous Charging Handles for the M4/M16/AR15 weapon system family.

Designed and intended for the military environment, the new line features two variants- The URL (Universal Release Latch) and ADF (Ambidextrous-Dual Functioning) models.Parabellum Armament Ambidextrous Charging Handles

Both models share a common, ergonomic shape which is wider than the standard USGI charging handle and designed with contoured ergonomic grasping surfaces to assist in charging handle operation. This patented shape is the result of a human, form-factors study and is unique within the industry. No other M4/M16/AR15 charging handle has ever been designed as specifically around the human movement.

Both the ‘URL’ and ‘ADF’ charging handle products share an identical shape and have 80%+ parts commonality.

‘URL’ Model Charging Handle - The Universal Release Latch model offers a large push tab on the rear of the grasping surface which goes beyond ambidextrous activation by making it universal. No matter what hand is used, an intuitive and normal grasping action is used to operate the mechanism. Closing the thumb and fingers together in a natural grip from any side or angle will compress the rear mounted latch release button, thereby freeing the latch simultaneously as the hand begins to withdraw the charging handle. The ‘URL’ charging handle provides the most intuitive and natural function possible based upon the normal physiology of the thumb and fingers naturally closing together during the gripping motion.

Installation of the ‘URL’ charging handle converts any M16/M4-based weapon system into a universal platform. No longer will any attention need to be paid to strong or weak side operation of the charging handle as the same completely intuitive and normal central grasping motion is instead utilized for every charging event and is equally available from either side or any condition. Weapon charging becomes a smooth, controlled and highly efficient operation that requires no re-training of muscle memory as the natural gripping action required is inherent in human physiology. Off-side, weak-side and non-traditional charging and weapons handling drills and exercises become a thing of the past as the ‘URL’ model charging handle allows the exact same grasping location, inherent feel, and tactile activation from all contact angles. There is no longer any need to switch techniques during these weapon manipulations as the centrally located rear operated activation button operates the same in all situations.

‘ADF’ Model Charging Handle - The Ambidextrous-Dual Functioning model appeals to the operator who prefers the advantages of ambidextrous activation, combined with aggressive activation during rapid-action scenarios.

The ‘ADF’ charging handle is engineered to eliminate the traditional weakness found in normal charging handles when certain modern charging techniques, such as “blading”, are used to rapidly and forcefully open the latch and charge the weapon. Under such techniques the full direct force of the operators actions are directed into the very small and weak latch retaining pin area, an area that was never designed to accommodate such forces.

The revolutionary ‘ADF’ activation mechanism design completely eliminates that pathway of force transmission. With the new design there is NO direct contact, or force transmission, into the latch pivot pin itself along that pathway, eliminating any chance of breaking the pin or tearing apart the charging handle at that location. Instead, this design offers right and left side activation levers that provide initial contact to begin opening the latch, but then the force transmission pathway immediately re-directs all rearward forces back into the structure of the charging handle itself, removing any shock and stress to either the individual activation levers or the retaining latch itself. By this mechanical force pathway management, a direct, rapid force can be applied to the charging handle at its strongest, most massive, location while removing any chance of damage to the activation levers or latch system.

Further, the dual activation levers feature true balanced-force activation such that activation of the handle using either lever results in a smooth, light and easy, opening of the retaining latch with no drag or hesitation. With this ambidextrous design, each activation lever moves independently of the other, biased only by a unique ultra-light spring force and not interconnected to the other lever or latch itself. Other designs mechanically interconnect the separate levers which cause drag, excessive opening force and wear to the components.

The ‘ADF’ design offers the traditional look and feel of forward mounted activation levers but adds the capability of utilizing newer manipulation techniques without fear of damaging the latch or handle. This greatly reduces the chance of damage to the host weapon’s internal components such as bolt, bolt rings, and bolt carrier as can happen when a conventional charging handle is overstressed and fails.

Both models are currently in limited series production and professional deployments. Pricing and availability have not been determined.

About Parabellum Armament:<br

The two items are well suited and complement each other. This kit will allow the user to conduct a multitude of tasks, from sight and optic adjustment, to detailed weapons cleaning, further enhancing their capabilities. It is great for Gerber and Otis to be able to listen to our customers’ needs and bring them the gear they need in the field.”

Brad McIntyre, Military/Federal Manager for Otis Technology adds, “Listening to the warfighter has resulted in Otis looking into an alternative weapons cleaning system. The tool kit needed would allow the warfighter to clean and properly maintain all aspects of the weapon system. As a result, Otis teamed with Gerber to create the M4/M16 Cleaning System with eFECT Weapons Tool. This system will further allow users to sustain their weapons in the field, increasing the weapons life cycle.”

Otis Technology is known for manufacturing the most advanced gun cleaning systems available. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Real Action Paintball is proud to introduce two dramatic concepts, and a whole lot of color, to accessorizing your T68 marker.

To complete the M4 look, and vastly improve its functionality, you need a multi-position collapsible stock…and you need it in colors that complement your environment and other gear.

Better yet – how about hiding a 5oz CO2 or 13ci HPA tank inside of that stock, doing away with remote lines and external tanks entirely? RAP4 makes it happen…and puts those stocks together with matching handguards, so you can coordinate your entire marker.

The T68 Paintball Gun M4/M16 Carbine Kits come in your choice of colors, including foliage green, dark earth, olive drab, black, and for very special applications, red and blue as well. The kits come with upper and lower handguards and the multi-position collapsible stock – swap them out in moments, and you’ll be ready to rock!

Kits featuring the standard collapsible stock also come with an M16-style pistol grip in matching color!

For owners of Tippmann, BT, Spyder, and other tactical markers, you can even purchase an M4 Carbine Kit that attaches directly to your marker…and they’re available in two hot configurations and all five colors!

When you want to attach an air source directly to your marker, but don’t want to hang a full size tank off of it or wrap yourself in a remote line, here’s your solution: the 5oz/13ci Carbine Kit! By slightly enlarging the tube at the heart of the collapsible stock, RAP4 engineers have designed a unit that allows you to install that mini air tank directly on your marker, then cover it up with the fully functional collapsible stock! Slide it forwards to shorten your marker for CQB, slide it backwards to extend your length of pull for more comfortable, and more solid, long-distance shooting.

Both kits are available in those custom colors, so you can match your marker to the olive drab in your BDUs, the dark earth in your tiger stripes, or the foliage green in your digital cammies…or go with standard-issue black. There are special police and military uses for the red and blue furniture kits, but you might just use them to indicate which team is which – the story of red vs. blue as told in the colors of your markers!

RAP4 is your only source for these M4/M16 Carbine Kits…and puts you in control with two styles and six color choices! Complete the mil-sim look, feel, and function of your T68…today!

Real Action Paintball – As Real as it Gets!

About:
VickersTactical.com

Fayetteville, NC --(Ammoland.com)- The folks at Daniel defense and I have been talking about doing a Vickers Tactical signature carbine since last year but only recently did we get our collective heads together to make it happen.

They are busy with government contracts as well as civilian customers and I have never been busier in my life since adding “firearms TV show host” to my list of duties.

In addition, only within the last year have they got on line with not only hammer forged barrels but lightweight or so called ‘pencil’ hammer forged barrels as well. Add to this some new accessories hitting the market and clearly it was time to make this rifle a reality.

The base carbine is essentially a DD M4 with a lightweight barrel. I was involved to a small degree with bringing that rifle to the market and I thought we did a great job then and I still do now. The barrel of course is made to mil spec standards and materials with a chrome lined 1 in 7 inch twist, except with a profile that drops a significant amount of weight. We added the top of the line RIS II rail system, the exact same one chosen by SOCOM for the SOPMOD block II contract, except in black. The RIS II in black has been nearly unobtainable so we felt that this premium quality carbine deserved a special rail and the introduction of the first Daniel Defense rifle to have a RIS II as standard equipment is a great start. And of course like all RIS II rail systems the bottom rail panel is removable to allow the end user to mount an M203 grenade launcher if need be.

No match trigger is fitted as I am very skeptical of them; after being an early proponent of the idea of a refined trigger in a truly combat worthy M4 carbine I have seen my fair share of problems with the concept. One bitten twice shy is my motto on this, so until I see one that I think is really bombproof I won’t have one in a Vickers Tactical carbine.

The rear sight is the excellent DD A1.5 fixed rear sight and standard pinned front sight / gas block assembly that protrudes thru a hole cut into the rail system. The DD rear sight was another product I was involved with that I am proud of; a really good piece of kit. To go along with this is the superb Aimpoint Micro T1 mounted in the DD Micro mount. This mount was designed to be a companion piece to the A1.5 rear sight and puts the irons in the bottom 1/3rd field of view. This whole setup is lightweight, strong, sleek and makes for a great red dot/back up iron sight aiming system.

The buttstock is the excellent VLTOR IMOD in brown. Magpul products on the carbine consist of the polymer trigger guard, pistol grip, anti tilt follower and low profile base plate installed on the aluminum Brownells magazine in brown. This was the only brown magazine on the market that I felt was up to my standards and my test mags have performed flawlessly. Remember however that like all USGI type aluminum magazines it should really be considered a 28 round mag, not a 30 rounder.

Daniel Defense

I added a Bravo Company gunfighter charging handle to the package but in the shortened mod 5 format (which was made at my request) and with radiused edges. I was luke warm on the mod 3 & 4 versions of this product but the mod 5 is a winner. As we move forward on the carbine the RIS II sports Ergo rail ladders in brown as well as a DD convertagrip stubby in brown. In the past I have never been a big vertical foregrip fan but the next piece of kit and it’s location changed that forever; the Surefire X300 mounted at the 12 o’clock position in front of the front sight. The best location I have tried to date for white light placement on a fighting gun. It allows you to use your thumb to activate the light from either side and is low enough you can see your irons over top. The convertagrip stubby is used as leverage to perform this by choking up on the rifle and getting your hand higher on the rail. This allows for excellent weapon control and provides excellent access to your white light without the possibility of masking the light while clearing corners. In addition the X300 provides alot more useable light than the older X200 and works great on a carbine or a pistol. In short a great white light setup.

The flash suppressor is from Surefire also and doubles as a mounting interface for their 556k shorty suppressor. Of course all this is topped off by the famous Vickers Combat Applications Sling (VCAS) exclusively manufactured by Blue Force Gear. This particular version is the padded variant in brown with the polymer adjuster. It is mounted up front on the carbine with a QD sling swivel into a DD swivel adapter with limited travel – meaning the sling cannot swivel 360 degrees and get twisted like a pretzel. It is attached in the rear thru the sling slot molded into the VLTOR IMOD and not with a QD sling swivel because the attachment point in the rear is not limited travel.

Last but not least the V lightning bolt logo is etched into the lower receiver on the right hand side so as to designate the rifle is one of a limited edition of 250 carbines. This first edition will never be made again in this exact configuration; DD and I may make some other signature rifles but not setup like this one that is for sure.

AmmoLand Gun News

Florence, Alabama - -(Ammoland.com)- It’s no great secret that the Army’s M4 carbine hasn’t exactly covered itself with glory in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As long ago as the 1960s, long before the M4, the issues with the M16 rifle version of the AR design were well known.

In Vietnam, the M16 quit functioning so frequently that many photos from the mid-60’s show soldiers and Marines with cleaning roods taped to their rifles to clear cartridge casings that failed to eject.

The root cause of the M16’s reliability issues were the Ljungmann direct impingement gas system that in the words of some, “vomits into its own mouth.”

The cure in Vietnam was heavy lubrication to keep the fouling soft coupled with frequent maintenance. After over 40 years as, the AR platform continues to be a “dirty” weapon and its reliability has only been worsened by the large scale changeover to 14.5 inch barreled M4.

(Actually, there are two versions of the M4 – the base M4 that is semiautomatic or three round burst capable and the M4A1 that is capable of full auto fire. The latter is used primarily by Special Forces, while the M4 is predominantly used by “Big Army.”)

The issues inherent with the M4 were long ago reported by the first units to use the weapon – IE: Special Forces.

In fact, a 2000 SOCOM study regarding the M4A1 stated in part, “All…M16-based carbines and the M4A1 are fundamentally flawed.”1

Problems identified included failures to extract, broken bolts, burst barrels, cookoffs, loosened barrels and in extreme cases, blown receivers. In addition to these problems, both carbines have reliability issues in a desert environment engendered by the need to keep them heavily lubricated because of the fouling engendered by the direct impingement gas system. In the “sandbox” environment of Afghanistan and Iraq, the lubricant becomes a “dust magnet,” actually attracting the fine talcum powder like sand that seems to get into everything. When combined with the lubricant, the dust turns into a “goo” that brings cycling to a halt, which isn’t exactly what one wants or needs in a firefight. The same is true if the carbine is run dry, since it depends on lubricant to function.

HK XM8 Modular Assault System Rifle

The reports of malfunctions and the issues mentioned above led the Army to evaluate alternative carbines in 2007 in an environment as close as possible to that encountered in desert combat zones. Ten sample carbines of each of four candidates were test fired for a total of 6,000 rounds each. It isn’t our point here to go through the exact test procedures, but the test protocol was fairly close to “real world” operational conditions and when the dust settled (No pun intended.), the Colt M4 was dead last with 882 stoppages/malfunctions. The next worst, H&K’s 416 had only 233 disabling stoppages. The Mark 16 SCAR was almost in a dead heat with 226 stoppages. Best was the XM8 with just 127 stoppages. Of course, the XM8 program was long ago terminated by Congress because it had been concluded that it didn’t do anything significantly better than the M16 rifle, so just why the XM8 was even included except perhaps as a baseline is questionable.

By late 2008, the Army bureaucracy decided that what was needed was an entirely new carbine to replace the M4 family, although the problems with the M4 were restricted to the upper receiver that attaches to the lower receiver via two pins.

What this means is that the upper receiver can be replaced in a matter of seconds by simply pressing our the two retaining pins, dropping on a new upper receiver and pressing the pins back in to lock the new received in place.

POF-USA P416 14 11sx 223 Rifle

This is a VERY important point.
Special Forces long ago began solving the M4’s inherent issues by just dropping on a new upper receiver that eliminated the direct impingement gas system and replaced it with a gas piston and operating rod. This was Heckler and Koch’s HK416. But there was an issue with the HK 416 as well. Although not widely reported, the HK416s operating rod return spring that was in close proximity to the carbine’s chamber area could be damaged by heat. An alternative that was never formally procured by the military was Precision Ordnance Factory’s P416 that not only uses a piston and operating rod, but runs without any lubrication whatsoever. We know of at least one Special Forces Team that deployed to Afghanistan equipped entirely with M4A1 carbines with POF 416 upper receivers. One of the officers on this team, who must remain anonymous, informed us that the POF equipped carbines had virtually zero stoppages and weren’t affected by the dust. Informal feedback from other POF combat users indicates that the weapons deliver almost unbelievable levels of reliability and longevity. We have conducted long term testing of semiautomatic versions of the POF system in both .223 and .308 and can attest to the fact that it runs without lubrication of any kind and that the receiver remains remarkably clean and virtually free of fouling.

In November 2009 the Army invited 19 small arms manufacturers to an “industry day” in Washington, DC in an effort to see what industry was capable of producing. At this point what the Army will do about the M4 isn’t clear, but we believe that one point is worth mentioning – there really is no need for a completely new carbine like the Mk 16 SCAR, because whatever issues there are can be rectified without spending the millions needed for an entirely new weapon.

Vltor Weapons System’s Modstock EMOD Combo Kit - Flat Dark Earth

The dust, lubrication and heat problems can be resolved by purchasing the POF P416 upper receiver that just drops into place. If a new caliber like he 6.8mm SPC is wanted, that is as easy as changing upper receivers as well. If users don’t like the cheek weld on the M4’s collapsible stock, stocks with cheek rests better than the fixed stock M16 are available. An example is Vltor Weapons System’s Modstock. Again, we have used the Modstock extensively on our personal POF carbine that rides in the trunk of our cruiser at the police department and recommend it to anyone who has an M4 type carbine, whether semi- or full auto. You’re right, gentle (or not so gentle) reader, we like POF carbines and Vltor accessories, but we have the opportunity to shoot a LOT of AR-type carbines and these are the ones we prefer over all others.

The bottom line is that the M4/M4A1 as currently configured isn’t going to be around much longer. As the eight year old SOCOM study stated, the design is “fundamentally flawed” and should long ago have been redesigned or replaced.

An New Carbine Is Not Necessary
To reiterate, an entirely new carbine is neither necessary nor desirable. The M4 design is well known and spare parts and suppliers are in place. An entirely new weapon would necessitate not only new weapons production, but new spare parts production as well, with duplicate parts inventories being necessary for years to come. Moreover, the M4/M4A1’s issues are capable of being rectified in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost of an entirely new weapon. (Related News: See also <a

It has been said that getting anything done in the Army bureaucracy is like mating elephants – it is done at very high levels with a lot of bellowing and it takes two years to get anything done. The Army bureaucracy long ago identified the M4’s problems, the bellowing has been going on for over eight years and our soldiers are still plagued with the same “fundamentally flawed” carbine they had when the problems were identified. It’s very close to a national scandal that many of our troops are forced to obtain high reliability upper receivers like the POF 416 on their own!

It’s high time for the Army bureaucracy to quit dithering and get something done to give our troops the weapon they need and deserve!

<div
