Essex Junction, VT --(Ammoland.com)- Max Michel, champion shooter for Revision Military, concludes his successful and eventful 2011 season by setting new Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championship records and welcoming a daughter – his third child with wife Jennifer – into the world.

Michel set the new World Record during the Roundabout (Stage 2) at the Steel Challenge with four runs totaling 7.96 seconds, during which Michel drew his pistol four times and hit 20 total targets.

His daughter Makenzie was born at the conclusion of the USPSA Handgun Nationals held in September, where Michel won one of his two National Championship titles.

In total, Michel rounded out the 2011 season with five individual 1st place finishes, including two National Championship titles, one Team Gold in Open Division, six 2nd place finishes and one 4th place finish. This past year marks Michel’s second year representing Revision Military.

“As the 2011 shooting season comes to an end, I reflect back on a very successful year and am extremely grateful for the support Revision Military has given me,” commented Michel.

“It’s truly great companies like Revision and my other amazing sponsors that make my accomplishments possible. It brings me great honor to give them two 2011 National Championship titles.”

EXETER, NH --(Ammoland.com)-  Team SIG SAUER Captain Max Michel, Jr., brought his United States Practical Shooting Association regular season to close this weekend with a second-place finish at the Area 8 Championship in Fredericksburg, Va.

Competitors came into the match concerned about the range conditions in the aftermath of last week’s hurricane Irene.

“Luckily, the brunt of the storm missed the range,” Michel said. “Jeff Salzberg and his staff made sure all the facilities and stages were in great shape.”

The courses also ran on the large side, requiring a good deal of movement from competitors. With a fairly moderate round count, the challenge was on movement between shooting positions.

“The stage designers definitely put the “run” in “run and gun” with these stages,” Michel said. “This really put a premium on my footwork as well as how I planned out each stage.”

Michel finished with 1174.5309, just 4.51 percentage points behind the winner.

Michel now turns his attention to the USPSA Open Nationals, to be held Sept. 15-21 in Las Vegas. After that, Michel finalizes his preparation for the International Practical Shooting Confederation’s World Shoot XVI. Michel will be representing the United States as a member of the Open Division team. The match will be held in Rhodes, Greece, in late September.

“The World Shoot has been in the back of my mind all year, guiding my physical and mental training,” Michel said. “I can’t wait to get back to Greece and represent my country once again.”
