title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- In its sixth-year, the 2012 SHOT Show Media Day at the Range broke all attendance records.</p><p>The event which is held on the day prior to SHOT Show, was attended by over 1,200 members of the media. With over 100 manufacturers exhibiting,</p><p>Media Day at the Range continues to be the largest media event in the hunting and shooting industry, giving outdoor media the opportunity to shoot and test the best new products for 2012. Attending manufacturers get a jump on their competition with early media exposure highlighting their products for print, broadcast and internet coverage.</p><p>A special thanks to Media Day’s presenting sponsor NSSF as well as all our supporting sponsors, Winchester Ammunition, Caracal, Rock Island Armory, 5-11 Tactical, Tactical-Life.com, Action Target, Federal Premium Ammunition, Browning and GunBroker.com for their support in helping make this day the success it is.</p><blockquote><p>“SHOT Show Media Day at the Range has become an important part of the overall SHOT Show experience,” said NSSF Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Chris Dolnack. “After its first year as title sponsor, NSSF looks forward to reviewing feedback from attendees and working with the organizers to make Media Day even better next year.”</p></blockquote><p>The first annual Action Target Media Day Safety Award was presented to Remington Arms for demonstrating the highest standards of safety during the range day. Each exhibitor was judged by a panel of safety auditors from DOA Tactical. In addition to the recognition, Remington also received $3,500 towards their 2013 SHOT Show Media Day at the Range registration fee.</p><p>Open to all in the hunting and shooting industry, manufacturers, conservation groups and shooting organizations are welcomed on a first-come, first-served basis. This year’s exhibitors ranged from firearms manufacturers to tactical clothing companies. This year’s event also included an expanded short and long range shooting areas which allowed the media to test many more new products than ever before.</p><blockquote><p>“Media Day dramatically improved our new product launch at SHOT Show,” said Jody Lamb, Marketing Manager for VANGUARD, a manufacturer of sporting optics and shooting accessories. “Hundreds of editors, writers and TV and radio hosts put our binoculars and spotting scopes to the test out on the range. You really can’t tell the quality of glass inside of a convention center so Media Day made it an effective setting for everyone. We’re so excited to see everyone again next year.”</p></blockquote><p>Accordingly to Bill Dermody of Savage Arms, “I got more PR work done in one day than in months. It is going to take me weeks to get all the consignment guns to writers,” he said.</p><blockquote><p>“Media Day funnels hundreds of people and products to the firing line&#8211; people with deep expertise in shooting gear, and products brand-new to market” said outdoor writer Wayne van Zwoll. “If you&#8217;re not part of Media Day, you&#8217;re missing a first look at tomorrow&#8217;s headline hardware, and a chance to buttonhole the engineers who designed it. No other event so clearly registers the pulse of the shooting industry!”</p></blockquote><p>Media Day at the Range 2012 was also a fundraiser for Safari Club International. Through the generous donation of products to the silent auction from many of the manufacturers, funds were raised during the event in support of SCI’s many conservation programs.</p><div

title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- A big thank-you to those WOMA members who helped at our booth at the recent SHOT Show held in Las Vegas for four long days. <em>(The “backbone” of the booth was Melita Ellington, WOMA VP and Membership Team Leader, so a special THANK-YOU to her!)</em></p><p>The response to The WOMA was beyond good; it was phenomenal to the point that it will take us awhile to catch up with dozens and dozens of new membership applications.</p><p>The WOMA was also involved at the Bass Pro Shops Media Day at the Range, which kicked off the week of SHOT Show.</p><p>WOMA members helped at the registration desks, showing support for another WOMA member, Cathy Williams of CMG Marketing &amp; Events, who hosts the Media Day event. Even at Media Day, Melita had a WOMA information table up and running, plus we had WOMA member Mia Anstine, who is in charge of our ad sales, also present. This was a first-time SHOT Show experience for Mia, and I’ll bet she is still wondering how many miles she walked. If Mia missed you at SHOT Show and you have an interest in sponsoring an ad on The WOMA website, which has been growing by leaps and bounds, please contact her at Mia@theWOMA.com.</p><p>If you are one of the many people who applied for membership in The WOMA while at SHOT Show, please know that Melita and her membership team are working through the applications as quickly as possible. Since we have membership in the areas of Media and Industry, as well as our new Ambassador program, it takes a while to get everything coordinated. Plus we have board meetings only once per month to vote in new members. If you have any questions about your application or need to get in the remainder of your information, please email Melita@theWOMA.com.</p><p>An application that has <em>“missing parts”</em> or doesn’t have payment made will be put on hold until the next board meeting in late March, so please do what you can to get all your information and payment rolling yet in February.</p><p>I am planning to be at the NRA convention in Pittsburgh April 29 through May 1. If you are also planning to attend this large annual event please let me know (Deb@theWOMA.com) and we’ll try to coordinate a location near the convention center for a <em>“tea and coffee”</em> time on Saturday morning, April 30. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)-  In its fifth-year, the 2011 Bass Pro Shops’ Media Day at the Range broke all attendance records.</p><p>The event which is held on the day prior to SHOT Show, was attended by over 625 members of the media.</p><p>With over 70 manufacturers exhibiting, Media Day at the Range continues to be the largest media event in the hunting and shooting industry, giving outdoor media the opportunity to shoot and test the best new products for 2011.</p><p>Attending manufacturers get a jump on their competition with early media exposure highlighting their products for print, broadcast and internet coverage.</p><div

This year’s exhibitors ranged from firearms manufacturers to a topographical mapping company. This year’s event also featured an airgun and archery venue reflecting the exciting growth in that sector of these shooting sports.</p><p>Accordingly to Tim Brandt, Public Relations &amp; Promotions Manager for ATK Security &amp; Sporting, “Every year Media Day at the Range has continued to grow.  This year was bigger and better than ever. It’s great to see so many manufacturers and major industry names coming aboard. Having everyone in one place really helps draw the top media personnel. We’re excited to be a part of such a well-run event that is so beneficial and cost-effective.”</p><blockquote><p>“2011 was ArmaLite’s first year at Media Day at the Range. We signed up for 2012 before we left SHOT Show. Besides being good for business, the shoot was educational and well attended by the media” says Arthur Steadman, ArmaLite Communications Director.</p></blockquote><p>Even members of the member say this event is one that cannot be missed.</p><blockquote><p>Andy Lightbody of Rocky Mountain Television states, “We as the outdoor press have lots and lots of stories to cover with all the exhibitors that were there.  We know the value of what they have to offer as product introductions and hands on testing.  Media Day at the Range allows us to get this done in one very informative day.”</p><p>Added, Frank Medicine Wolf Springer, Western Outdoor News, “I am sure, as I was, the other writer&#8217;s were ecstatic over the Yamaha and other all-terrain vehicle offerings, which added a wonderful dimension to the event.  The food was spectacular.  Thanks for including me and don&#8217;t bother trying to top this year&#8217;s event.  If you simply copy this year&#8217;s success, you will have done another wonderful job.”</p></blockquote><p>The 2011 Media Day at the Range was also a fundraiser for Safari Club International (SCI). More than 100 members of the Outdoor Writers Association of America attended Shooting Day at the West Walker Sportsman&#8217;s Club near Grand Rapids, MI., where they tested the latest firearm models offered by Smith &amp; Wesson, Browning and Winchester, among others, and afterward listened to a presentation made by NSSF&#8217;s Glenn Sapir and Bill Brassard on important issues related to ammunition and modern sporting rifles.</p><p>With hunting season on the horizon, NSSF asked for the outdoor media&#8217;s help in informing hunters that eating game taken with traditional ammunition that contains lead components does not pose a health risk and that calls to ban traditional ammunition are nothing more than scare tactics pushed by anti-hunting groups.</p><p>NSSF also encouraged the media to stop referring to semi-automatic AR-15-platform rifles as &#8220;assault weapons,&#8221; pointing out that true assault weapons are fully automatic&#8211;machine guns that have been severely restricted since 1934.</p><p>NSSF asks the media to use the term &#8220;modern sporting rifle&#8221; to describe these popular, widely owned firearms that are used for hunting, target shooting and personal defense and which have taken their place in the long line of civilian sporting rifles that have evolved from military versions.</p><p>Read more about traditional ammunition, the assault weapons issue and the importance of outdoor media.</p><p><strong>About:</strong><br

class="wp-caption-text">Media Day At The Range</p></div><p>Centreville, Virginia -</strong> With the support of Bass Pro Shops the 4th annual Media Day at the Range held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 Orlando, Florida broke all records. Nearly 425 members of the outdoor media from around the world were in attendance.</p><p>Nearly 50 manufacturers and organizations exhibited at the event allowing members of the media to handle and shoot the hundreds of new products on display as well as learn of new programs and organizations getting started in 2009.</p><p>Jason Nash, ATK&#8217;s Communications and Events Manager said &#8220;Media Day at the Range provides manufacturers like ATK the opportunity to have hands-on interaction with the top writers in the hunting and shooting industry. There&#8217;s no better way to showcase new products than to actually use them live and in person. This year&#8217;s event was well organized, very well attended and overall a great success. We look forward to next year.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;Media Day is always a most successful prequel to the SHOT Show for ZEISS. There is simply no substitute in providing our media friends a &#8220;hands-on&#8221; experience with our product. It is a wonderful networking event for us not only for developing new and continuing relationships with writers and publishers but it also allows us to work closely with other manufacturers and other industry professionals. Not the least of all, the sponsors always provide a first class location or the event and tremendous logistical support,&#8221; added Rich Moncrief, Zeiss Training Manger.</p><p>Many of the writers could not have been more pleased with the event. Says Mark Keefe, Editor of NRA&#8217;s publication American Rifleman, &#8220;Media Day gives the firearms press an opportunity to handle the majority of the new firearm or optical designs that they will be writing about in the coming year. It&#8217;s one thing to look at a gun or a scope in a booth, but another entirely to try it out at the range in its intended role. Media Day is also one of the best networking opportunities available for both the industry marketing professionals and journalists alike. I haven&#8217;t missed one yet, and I don&#8217;t intend to start now.&#8221;</p><p>Adds Nick Sisley, freelance journalist for many of the top shotgun publications, &#8220;One aspect of Media Day that I really like is that there tends to be a little more time to visit for a few minutes with old friends. More importantly, Media Day is the chance to see so many new products under one figurative roof &#8211; and our readers (editors, too) are always hungry for information on the new products. Finally, Media Day is also perfect for garnering story ideas beyond new products. Personally, I came up with at least three of these types of article ideas &#8211; all within a relatively short time at Media Day.</p><p>This year&#8217;s event also was a big success raising funds and equipment for the Florida 4-H Shooting Sports Program.
