title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Rockcastle Shooting Center at Park Mammoth Resort is the host site for the upcoming 2011 Summer Mammoth Sniper Challenge July 8 – 10, 2011.

The sold out match has 56 two-man teams from novice to twelve registered military teams. The three-day team shooting competition designed by Joe Harris has six timed stages spread throughout the 2,000 acres of the resort property and will allow shooters to use prone, barricade or partner assisted positions.

Harris said, “The popularity of this match has exceeded my expectations since the first one held at Rockcastle Shooting Center in January. The interest in precision long distance competitions is steadily growing and Rockcastle Shooting Center’s location and topography draws the best of the best. With this match being team oriented, it can make a friendship stronger or challenge their friendship.”

The main match will predominantly include reactive targets, cardboard targets and scenario-based stages with down slope shooting and ½ MOA to 3 MOA. The natural and unforgiving terrain at Rockcastle Shooting Center will have targets set from very close distances to 1,000 meters, some set against the wooded tree line, while others will be set at the spacious Thunder Valley and Lookout Pointe all favored long distance rifle locations.

Five bonus side matches are scheduled offering the unique opportunity to test competitors’ skills at Reactive targets, Kim’s game, Range Estimation Match, 22 Rifle side timed match and a Pistol plate rack with a 9mm pistol supplied.

Nick Noble, CEO of Rockcastle Shooting Center noted, “We’re experiencing unbelievable interest and growth at our shooting facility hosting these types of specialty matches. From hosting the 2011 Barrett Mammoth Sniper Challenge, 2011 BRM 3-Gun Championship and the upcoming Shooting Industry Masters along with the AR15.com/Rockcastle Pro Am, we’ve proven this is our niche. With our country recently celebrating its independence, we’re honored to have current and former service personnel compete in this match. It’s a testament to the level of proficiency they must maintain to protect our country.”

Rockcastle Shooting Center is the newest addition to the Park Mammoth Resort property, which is developing into the nations’ premiere shooting sports resort. The shooting center offers a 15-station Sporting Clay course, 5 Stand, Pistol and Rifle Ranges out to 1,500 yards, a SASS Range and two 3D Archery Ranges, which are open to the public with various levels of membership opportunities available. The center is nestled among the wooded ridges and valleys of the historic property encompassing 2,000 acres of the Park Mammoth Resort located in south central Kentucky.

For further information of scheduled events at Rockcastle Shooting Center and the first class accommodations and amenities offered by Park Mammoth Resort, visit our web site at Horus Vision

San Bruno, CA --(Ammoland.com)- A sniper looks through his scope waiting anxiously to place his crosshairs on the target.

He breathes in, then out. He slowly squeezes the trigger, and takes the shot.

Before all this can happen, a sniper has to learn how to plan out the correct route and select a firing position.

Next, he needs to learn how to move swiftly, and silently to keep him from being seen or heard.

Finally, he needs to learn how to shoot at great distances and adjust correctly for wind. These skills are taught at the sniper school. Once a regular infantryman learns these skills, he becomes one of the deadliest assets on the battlefield.

Although, not everyone is a military sniper, life can be related to a battlefield. Having more skills and knowledge in battle will increase chances of survival. Having more skills and knowledge in life will increase chances for success. Life offers college instead of sniper school. College is a gateway for young adults to gain the knowledge and skills needed to enter the battle of life. In college, a student learns a vast array of knowledge necessary for survival, shaping character, and success in the business world.

For many students, college is the first time being away from home. This is where some basic survival skills are developed, such as budgeting and time management. It is the first time that a miscalculation could determine whether a student has food or a roof overhead. Money delinquency will also affect credit scores in the future. When time is mismanaged it can result in loss of sleep or even failure of a class. Reoccurring failure, which could have been easily prevented, or insufficient budgeting are surely the fastest ways of ending life as a student.

Being away from family can be a hard transition. It can make people feel uncomfortable leading to stress. A key part in battle is learning how to deal with hardships and continue on to accomplish the mission. College is a great opportunity to transform perseverance into a habit. Stress can also be caused by deadlines, exams, or even social problems. Those who are not afraid and learn to work under stress will excel in all aspects of life not just in school.

In order to become a sniper, a soldier has to be the best. To be defined as the best, one must compete against others. College is a competitive atmosphere. The entire process of applying to college promotes competition. All universities have some sort of application process to screen incoming students making sure each one meet the prerequisites. Many schools only accept a percentage of applicants every year. It is imperative to stand out and be at the top of the lists whether coming straight out of high school or transferring from a community college. After college, life becomes even more competitive when searching for a job. Being at the top of every class may increase the chances of being hired for certain jobs. Furthermore, a competitive person has the drive to get the job that he or she desires. By exercising competition in college a person will be familiar with the amount of effort needed to produce favorable results.

In a business aspect, college is like boot camp where people develop good habits and essential skills. Part of developing good habits is breaking bad ones. Some of the skills obtained belong to a specific field, which leads to getting a degree. Many times employers want to see a degree even if it’s not relative to the occupation. The degree then becomes a statement to an employer that the applicant has the commitment and discipline needed to attain a goal. This demonstrates reliability and stability. Of course some occupations do require a specific degree. In contrast, if bad habits are not recognized and dealt with, getting a degree will become much more difficult.

While in college students make allies, former classmates, for future networking. Some of them will come from different parts of a city, state, country or even the world. Perhaps a student meets a person only once but they made a lasting impression that lands them a job in the future. Broadening the spectrum of people one knows will help them familiarize or at least recognize different customs from different cultures. This is all part of developing situational awareness. A person who knows the interests and backgrounds about the people surrounding them can use that knowledge for personal gains or avoid making a bad impression. This is very important since cultural awareness is a key part to success in today’s internationally driven business world.

College molds a person through exposure to many different ideas. New ideas may arise from new classes, clubs, or organizations. Sometimes clubs or organizations can help define what one stands for. For instance, the Humanitarian Club may teach about inhumane violence taking place in the war on Terrorism. This may inspire a person to speak out against the situation. Activists on campus may encourage voting, or action against global warming. A psychology class may explain why people sub-consciously try so hard to fit common expectations of society. Each new experience slightly or greatly impacts personal values and principles. By having values and principles one can truly make a difference in this world.

If you can’t shoot, sniping may not be the best choice. College allows a student to view a large amount of careers. With hundreds of different majors to choose from, the possibilities are almost endless. If one does not fit, a student has the ability to change the classes they are taking and reroute their course. Through this trial process, one learns to identify their strengths and weaknesses; likes and dislikes. Knowing one’s strengths and weaknesses allows a person to choose their own path.

Like most things, the college experience is determined by the level of effort put into it and what is taken from it. College invites new lessons and experiences that can contribute to success. Separate oneself from the grunts (ordinary foot soldiers) like a sniper. A sniper’s target is like a personal goal. The only way to hit the target is to practice. College will give the practice and confidence needed to hit that goal. It is up to student to pull the trigger.

Bryce Jensen was a Marine Sniper who used the GI Bill to get a college education. This was the first essay he wrote after his military service, which received an A+ and has been used by the professor as an exemplary essay to instruct other students within the course.

About:
latest upgrade of its Sniper Weapon System for the U.S. Army, the M-24E1, includes a new Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm Extended Range/Tactical (ER/T) M5 Locking Adjustment riflescope.

Specially designed and built with the military sniper in mind, the scope has an auto-locking elevation adjustment. This feature ensures rock-solid reticle adjustment is maintained during rough going and stressful conditions on the battlefield.

“This new scope incorporates all of the features our warfighters have been asking for,” said Kevin Trepa, Leupold’s vice president of tactical sales and marketing. “We are working hard to design, manufacture and deliver the tools they need to get the job done.”

Leupold President and CEO Calvin Johnston added, “We are excited that our newest riflescope is part of Remington’s upgraded M-24E1 Sniper Weapon System. Leupold will continue to leverage its Oregon-based workforce to provide the military with superior products built to their specifications.”

Other key features of the new ER/T include M5 windage and elevation adjustment dials with audible, tactile 1/10 (0.1) milliradian clicks to match the range-estimating, mil-based Horus reticle options. This allows fast, intuitive shot correction in the field. An elevation zero-stop helps prevent under-rotation in high-stress situations.

With the battle-proven Horus H27 or H58 reticle in the front focal plane, the scope offers the versatility of a variable magnification optic and the ability to accurately range at all magnification settings (the reticle magnifies with the image).

Leupold’s Xtended Twilight Lens System delivers an exceptionally clear, bright sight picture for outstanding target discrimination at all powers and in a wide range of lighting and environmental conditions. A lockable fast-focus eyepiece makes reticle focus simple to achieve and maintain. It also enables long eye relief to provide the shooter with nearly instant target acquisition.

Other key features include side focus parallax adjustment for fast, easy parallax focusing from 75 yards to infinity, from any shooting position. The 34mm maintube provides exceptional strength and allows for maximum windage and elevation adjustment.

The Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm ER/T M5 Locking Adjustment riflescope is waterproof, fog proof and shock proof. Exhaustive testing in the factory and field ensures durability. With its M5 Locking Adjustment, the scope’s platform is unique in the Mark 4 ER/T line. It is controlled under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and limited to domestic and international government sales only.

Leupold has offered precision optics for tactical applications since the 1983 introduction of Ultra riflescopes, which were designed to excel under the most extreme battlefield conditions. Today, more Leupold long-range optics are in service with the U.S. military than any other brand. For more information on Leupold tactical optics, go to www.leupold.com.

Leupold & Stevens, Inc., the preeminent American-owned and -operated optics company, employs more than 600 people in its state-of-the-art facility near Beaverton, Ore., where rugged, dependable, high-performance Mark 4 and Golden Ring optics are designed, machined and assembled. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Rockcastle Shooting Center at Park Mammoth Resort will become the permanent host site for their Inaugural 2011 Mammoth Sniper Challenge January 7-9, 2011.

This long range precision rifle competition will be open to military, law enforcement, professional and civilian shooters with a maximum participation set at 100 competitors.

Match Director and Course Designer Joe Harris said, “Eight stages will be set amongst the 2,000 acres of Rockcastle’s Shooting Center because of its natural terrain in the south central area of Kentucky with shooting distances up to and over 1,000 yards.

Rockcastle Shooting Center is the only shooting center on the east coast providing competitors with long distance tactical shooting ranges that will not only challenge their shooting skills but their ability to neutralize targets.”

The Mammoth Sniper Challenge www.MammothSniperChallenge.com will be a practical field competition with 100 percent reactive targets, night and low light stages, scenario based stages and offer high angle shooting up and down the various ridges on the property.

Targets will vary in size from ½ MOA to 2 MOA, with the possibility of ¼ MOA for an added surprise. The overall course will include shooting from prone positions to being placed 20 to 30 feet above ground and will run despite weather conditions. Details of the scenario based stages will be revealed in the match program upon onsite registration.

Nick Noble, CEO of Rockcastle Shooting Center said, “Rockcastle Shooting Center created this type of an event because our property already has so many natural surface features to physically challenge even the most seasoned competitor. The nation’s best will convene to this dynamic setting and have to adapt to the unsteady footing of the steep terrain, locate targets through the dense woods and shoot across distant valleys. It’ll be everything a long range precision rifle shooter wants in a shooting sports destination.”

Rockcastle Shooting Center is the newest addition to the Park Mammoth Resort property being developed into the nation’s premiere shooting sports resort. The shooting center offers a Sporting Clay course, 5 Stand, Pistol and Rifle Ranges out to 1,000 yards and two 3D Archery Ranges. Various levels of membership opportunities are available.

Park Mammoth Resort was built in 1964 and has operated since that time as a 2,000 acre golf resort and family destination. Nestled among the wooded ridges and valleys of the historic property, it is located in the heart of Caves, Lakes and Corvette region of south central Kentucky with 3.5 miles of Nature trails.

For information on events scheduled at Rockcastle Shooting Center and the first class accommodations and amenities offered at Park Mammoth Resort, visit our website at http://ParkMammothResort.us or email our guest client services at info@parkmammothresort.us.
Tags: <a

Dan Weaver has worked hard to add new elements to each phase in order to make the competition more diverse and well-rounded for the teams it attracts.

“Several of the events have changed this year in areas that will challenge each team’s ability to analyze its strengths and weaknesses when deciding the tactics needed for each event,” said Weaver. “Teams with strong physical abilities and those armed with better technical data will certainly be poised to take advantage of the new event options.”

In addition to trophies, the top teams will receive: first place—two FN SPR A-3G rifles with Leupold optics; second place—two FN SPR A-1 rifles with Leupold optics; third place—two FN TSR XP rifles with Leupold optics; fourth thru 13th place—miscellaneous prizes provided by vendors in attendance.

“We are excited that the vendors are helping out our cause with donations exceeding last year,” responded Weaver. “This year we have also partnered with Walmart to provide comfort items for the competitors between matches. With this year’s challenges in each phase they’ll need it.”

Portland, Oregon-based Leupold & Stevens, Inc., has been involved in the design, machining and assembly of precision optical instruments and other products for over 100 years.
<div

Constructed out of 100-percent stainless steel and 360-degree circumferentially welded for added strength, the TurboDyne produces less noise than a .22LR. By reducing the concussion associated with firing a .50 BMG, operators are able to shoot comfortably for hours.”

Overall weight and length vary by individual needs and design, but diameter is 2 inches. Standard finishes are matte black and matte stainless steel. The TurboDyne can be fitted to most semi-auto and bolt-action .50-caliber rifles, mounting directly to the current muzzle brake threads without modification to the gun. The suppressor is also available for rifles chambered in .416 caliber.

AWC Systems Technology has provided suppressed weapons systems to the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps, major law enforcement agencies nationwide, the Department of the Interior, the Department of Energy, federal and state correctional facilities and Special Forces units in Central America and the Middle East. AWC Systems Technology now sells to consumers who want to experience the comfort, accuracy and enjoyment of shooting with the advanced technology, quality and durability found in AWC Systems Technology products.

For more information about the TurboDyne 50, visit 75Th Ranger Regiment

FORT BENNING, Ga.— -(AmmoLand.com)- Two non-commissioned officers from the 75th Ranger Regiment competed in the 2009 Rifles Only Shooter Bash Competition held in Kingsville, Texas Nov. 6 and 7.

Sgt. Christopher K. Wooten and Sgt. Nicholas G. Irving, both assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment placed first and second respectively.

During the competition, Wooten and Irving conducted multiple sniper tasks not commonly taught within the sniper community.

Shooters Bash was specifically designed for precision rifle shooting, ranging from 400-1000 meters, with targets ranging from one inch in diameter to 11 x 18 inch targets.

“Throughout the competition, every shot had to be well calculated from the range, temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, and wind in order to make a 1,000 meter shot on an 11-inch target,” said Wooten.

Rarely did competitors shoot from the standard prone position. Much of the shooting was conducted from alternate positions, including standing, kneeling and sitting.

“As a sniper platoon, we need to focus more towards alternate shooting positions, partially exposed targets and combat-focused pistol shooting,” said Irving.

Stress shoots were also conducted which consisted of shooting from inside buses, make-shift sniper hides, and building structures. Combat pistol shots not commonly practiced nor taught were also a major portion of the competition.

During the combat pistol shoot, competitors shot one-handed from 10 meters to 100 meters as they were moving forward and dragging an 80 pound bag, simulating a wounded individual, as well as shooting moving targets.

“We are fortunate enough to be around and train with the most motivated, physically and mentally toughest individuals I have had the privilege of serving with in close to ten years of service,” said Maj. Richard Taylor, Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Bn., 75th Ranger Regt.

“These two Rangers are not only gifted snipers, but they are extremely gifted and talented leaders and are the highest quality Soldiers.”

“One of the great qualities within this organization is the fact that these two Rangers will now take their high skill set and their advanced level of training and spread their wealth of knowledge throughout their platoon, company and the battalion,” said Taylor.

The competition consisted of 60 competitors from both the military and civilian shooting communities.

About:<br
