NASGW Sets Theme and Program for its Expo & Annual Meeting

Reno, Nevada --(Ammoland.com)- The National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) will hold its Expo & Annual Meeting at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada on November 1-4, 2011.

The theme for this year’s event is Every Day-an expression of what wholesale distributors deliver on a daily basis (Stock -Ship-Sell and Service) to its customers and how wholesalers play a vital role in the channel of distribution.

“Our dealer customers get the products they need in any quantity desired, can count on having orders fulfilled right away, get sales and service support, product promotion, information delivery and training, superior products and services from our manufacturing partners that support two step distribution,” said Jack Baumler, NASGW’s Chairman of the Board and President of the W L Baumler Co in Lorain, Ohio.

NEW Programs Offered at the NASGW Annual
In a departure from previous years, NASGW’s Annual Breakfast will now be a Reception and Dinner on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 prior to the opening of the Expo.

“Many members commented on how tight the schedule was with the Wednesday morning breakfast. This new time and program will allow members more networking time in a fabulous new setting the Grand Sierra Theatre,” said Kent Williams, Vice Chair of NASGW. Corporate entertainer and comedian Greg Schwem will be featured at the dinner.

Also new to this year’s program are three optional educational workshops scheduled for Thursday morning from 8am – 9am. The Expo will begin at 9:00am on Thursday. Topics include an “ATF Update, Freight Consolidating and Understanding and Maximizing the Use of Social Media.” A complimentary internet cafe will also be available throughout the 2 1/2 day show in the registration area of the Expo.

NASGW Members Score Well in Firearms Inspections

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- At a recent meeting with representatives of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, NASGW Board members were provided recent statistics on inspections of wholesaler member locations by ATF.

The Bureau conducted over 10,500 inspections between 2008-2010, thirty six of which were firearms wholesalers (FY 2008-2010). Eighty six percent of wholesale distributors were found to have NO violations, while 5.56% received reports of violations and 2.78% a warning letter. 5.56% were either out of business, surrendered their license or were revoked.

Equally impressive were the Firearms Inventory numbers where initially 8.4% of inventory inspected was found missing but the final count after review and analysis indicated 0% was missing.

By comparison, the industry averages are much higher. For example, there were 12.96% were given violations notices and 23.36% received a “Warning Letter.” Industry averages for missing and final inventory number also indicated 21,041 missing (1.35%) vs. 0% for wholesale distributors.

“NASGW members do a great job in complying with ATF Inspections,” stated John Badowski, Firearms Industry Technical Advisor and NASGW Liaison. “They show a stellar performance for the industry in best practices.”
