If everything’s bigger in Texas then that holds true when it comes to turkeys. All three outdoorsmen hit their mark and harvested a large wild bird.

Tippin and Huckabee work very well together whether it’s hunting turkey or giving back to charity they once again hit their mark. Huckabee and Tippin share several passions one of them is hunting and the other is supporting charitable causes.

They are excited about their recent release compilation CD entitled I Wanna Play!: An Album To Put Musical Instruments Into The Hands Of Every Child In America—a project assembled to lend assistance to the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation’s Wanna Play Fund.

For more information about the I Wanna Play!: An Album To Put Musical Instruments Into The Hands Of Every Child In America CD and the NAMM Foundation’s Wanna Play Fund, visit www.wannaplaycd.org or
Ammoland.com)- The Pope and Young Club will be a key sponsor of National Hunting and Fishing Day, the official federal commemoration of hunters, anglers and conservation.

NHF Day continues to grow and reach new outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen each year with the continued support of generous sponsors. Through licenses, permits and special taxes, hunters and anglers generate $100,000 every 30 minutes–totaling more than $1.75 billion per year–for fish, wildlife and habitat. No one contributes more for conservation.

NHF Day is set to take place Sept. 24, 2011.

The Pope and Young Club is one of North America’s leading bowhunting and conservation organizations. Founded in 1961 as a nonprofit scientific organization, the Club is patterned after the prestigious Boone and Crockett Club. The Club advocates and encourages responsible bowhunting by promoting quality, fair chase hunting, and sound conservation practices.

The sponsorship by the Pope and Young Club supports the Wonders of Wildlife museum–the official home of National Hunting and Fishing Day. The Springfield, Mo., facility oversees educational initiatives to help the American public understand the indelible relationship between hunting, angling, healthy habitat, and wildlife and fisheries conservation.

Each year National Hunting and Fishing Day chooses an honorary chairperson, and this year T. Boone Pickens is serving in that capacity and will deliver the message of NHF Day.

A strong advocate for alternative energy in the United States, his renowned “Pickens Plan” is designed to decrease dependency on foreign oil while harnessing domestic energy alternatives such as wind power. He is the author of “The First Billion is the Hardest” and “Boone Pickens: The Luckiest Guy in the World.” Pickens also is a noted philanthropist, his gifts to charitable causes exceeding $700 million.

“In our 50th Year of ensuring bowhunting’s existence for future generations, the Pope and Young Club is proud to continue our support of National Hunting and Fishing Day,” noted P&Y President Roger Atwood. “NHF Day is a great opportunity to remind folks of the many cultural values that the hunting lifestyle provides, including patience, perseverance, skill development and mastery, the value of practice, applying personal ethics, and woodscraft, as well as a true understanding and appreciation of the natural world.”

“The Pope and Young Club has been a proponent of conservation from the day it was created,” said Misty Mitchell, director of Conservation Programs, Wonders of Wildlife. “They are exactly why NHF Day is such a big day for sportsmen around the country. Through our combined efforts we will continue to conserve our heritage.”

In 1972, Congress formalized NHF Day to remind the public that conservation depends on funding and leadership from hunters and anglers. Every president from Richard Nixon through Barack Obama has issued official proclamations of support for the annual commemoration, now recognized as one of the most effective grassroots campaigns ever undertaken to promote traditional outdoor sports.

Sponsors for NHF Day 2011 continues to grow, and includes Wonders of Wildlife, NSSF, Bass Pro Shops, Smith & Wesson, Sportsman’s Channel, Realtree, Cabela’s, GunBroker.com, Yamaha, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Izaak Walton League of America, Pope and Young Club and Fresh Air Educators.

For more information about NHF Day, visit www.nhfday.org and check out our Facebook page.
Tags: Ammoland.com)- The Izaak Walton League of America is supporting wildlife conservation by sponsoring National Hunting and Fishing Day.

With the League’s sponsorship, NHF Day continues to grow and promote conservation throughout the nation.

The Izaak Walton League is one of the most respected conservation organizations in America. Founded in 1922, the Izaak Walton League takes a common-sense approach toward protecting our country’s natural heritage and improving outdoor recreation opportunities for all Americans.

NHF Day promotes conservation efforts by sportsmen and takes place each year on the fourth Saturday in September. This year the event is set for September 24, 2011. The Izaak Walton League’s sponsorship supports the Wonders of Wildlife museum–the official home of National Hunting and Fishing Day.

“The Izaak Walton League has long supported National Hunting and Fishing Day; we co-chaired the planning committee for the first event almost four decades ago,” says David Hoskins, Executive Director of the Izaak Walton League.

“Since the beginning, the message of this event has been clear: Hunting and fishing are vital conservation tools, important economic engines, and enjoyable outdoor recreation activities. This annual event provides opportunities for people across the country to learn more about outdoor skills and conservation, frequently through demonstrations and hands-on activities related to hunting, shooting sports, fishing and archery.”

“The Izaak Walton League is truly a world class organization,” said Misty Mitchell, Director of Conservation Programs for Wonders of Wildlife. “Their support of NHF Day helps both organizations further the public’s knowledge of how sportsmen contribute to conservation efforts. We are very excited to have them on as sponsors of such a great cause.”

NHF Day has had many honorary chairpersons who have helped promote the message of conservation. This year, noted businessman, outdoorsman and philanthropist T. Boone Pickens serves as the honorary chair for NHF Day. Widely known as one of America’s most prominent and influential businessmen, Pickens remains a strong advocate for conserving a heritage that was instilled in him at a very young age. Pickens also is a prominent philanthropist whose contributions to charitable causes exceed $700 million.

Sponsorship of NHF Day 2011 continues to grow and includes Wonders of Wildlife, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Bass Pro Shops, Smith & Wesson, Sportsman’s Channel, Realtree, Cabela’s, GunBroker.com, Yamaha, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Izaak Walton League of America and Pope and Young Club.

For more information about NHF Day, visit www.nhfday.org and check out our Facebook page.
Tags: Ammoland.com)- The Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS), is proud to join the nation’s dedicated and conservation-minded hunters and fishermen as they prepare to celebrate the 38th anniversary of “National Hunting and Fishing Day” on Saturday, September 25.

“What began as an idea in a small Pennsylvania gun shop a few hours south of our headquarters here in Coraopolis, has become one of the most significant events on the American calendar. The Ruffed Grouse Society’s Board, staff and volunteers are proud to support National Hunting and Fishing Day and are pleased with recent studies that show that the vast majority of Americans support our sport-hunting tradition. RGS and its dedicated volunteers have a host of events planned for this fall aimed at exposing women and youth to that tradition,” said RGS President and CEO Mike Zagata.

“Working with its many volunteers and members across the country, the Ruffed Grouse Society continues to provide hunting opportunities for grouse, woodcock and other game species, as well as providing opportunities for those who simply enjoy watching and photographing the hundreds of non-game species that also benefit from the habitat grouse and woodcock need to survive,” Zagata continued.

Zagata referred to the12,500 forested acres RGS is managing in PA for CONSOL Energy, the 2,300 acres its managing in Somerset County, PA and the over 500,000 acres it has impacted on public lands as examples where RGS’ work has benefitted all species, both hunted and non-hunted, that require young forests for survival. In order to add to that acreage, RGS presently has five timber harvesting machines in operation around the country.

He then pointed to the new partnership agreement with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in which RGS will contribute 30-percent towards the salary of the newly established ruffed grouse coordinator position. RGS is seeking to establish similar positions in other states.

Established in 1961, the Ruffed Grouse Society is the one international wildlife conservation organization dedicated to promoting conditions suitable for ruffed grouse, American woodcock and related wildlife to sustain our sport hunting tradition and outdoor heritage.

Recognized by Charity Navigator as a four-star not-for-profit organization, information on the RGS, its mission, management projects and membership can be found on the web at: www.ruffedgrousesociety.org.
Tags: <a

These events are spread out across the whole state – meaning that one is probably near you!

In addition to these events, a FREE fishing day is offered to all Georgia residents on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010. On this day, residents do NOT need a fishing license or a trout license to fish on any public waters in the state including lakes, streams, ponds and public fishing areas. In addition, residents do not need to obtain a wildlife management area license to fish on a PFA, WMA or on Waters Creek on this day.

And if you thought the day could not get better – it just did. Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites are offering a FREE day on Sept. 25, 2010, which means no parking or admission fees.

CHANCE TO WIN! As part of their partnership with National Hunting and Fishing Day, Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A. has donated an all-new 2011 Grizzly 450 with Electric Power Steering (EPS) that one lucky outdoorsman will win. The sweepstakes is being promoted at NHF Day events nationwide, and anyone can enter to win by simply registering online at www.yamahaoutdoors.com/nhfday through the end of November.

The U.S. Congress and President Richard Nixon established National Hunting and Fishing Day 39 years ago to recognize generations of hunters and anglers for the time and money – more than a billion dollars each year – they donate to wildlife conservation programs. According to the proclamation signed by Governor Perdue, conserving the state’s natural and wildlife resources is one of the most important responsibilities for this and future generations, and the conservation programs supported and financed by Georgia hunters and anglers have benefited hundreds of wildlife species, including deer, wild turkeys, bald eagles and songbirds for all Georgians to enjoy.

For more information on NHF Day in Georgia – including a complete listing of all events in the state visit www.georgiawildlife.com , and then select “Get Involved.” For more on NHF Day across the nation, visit www.nhfday.org .
Tags: National Hunting and Fishing Day

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--(Ammoland.com)- More women than men took up hunting last year, according to new net figures from the National Sporting Goods Association.

While total hunters in the U.S. decreased slightly (.05 percent) between 2008 and 2009, the number of female hunters increased by 5.4 percent, netting 163,000 new participants. Growth areas for women included muzzleloading (up 134.6 percent), bowhunting (up 30.7 percent) and hunting with firearms (up 3.5 percent).

Data also show women outpaced men among net newcomers to target shooting with a rifle, where female participation grew by 4.1 percent.

New hunters and shooters are cause for celebration because more participation helps with funding for conservation, according to officials with National Hunting and Fishing Day. Congress established NHF Day, set for Sept. 25, 2010, to recognize America’s sportsmen and women for their leading role in fish, wildlife and habitat conservation (more info at www.nhfday.org).

“New hunters, shooters and anglers are a good thing for everyone who loves the outdoors,” said Denise Wagner of Wonders of Wildlife museum in Springfield, Mo., the official home of NHF Day. “Hunting and fishing license sales, combined with special taxes on firearms and ammunition, bows and arrows, and rods and reels generate about $100,000 every 30 minutes, totaling more than $1.75 billion per year, for conservation. When it comes to funding for wildlife and wild places, more is definitely better.”

The growth in new participation among women, perhaps counter-intuitive to traditionalists, is no surprise to Steve Sanetti, president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the shooting, hunting and outdoor industry.

He explained, “Over the past several years, our industry has worked hard to help build this segment of our market. We’ve developed shooting and hunting products especially for women, reached out with welcoming and instructional workshops for women, and encouraged existing hunters and shooters to introduce their spouses, daughters and other newcomers to shooting sports and outdoor lifestyles. I believe these efforts are paying off, which is a bright spot for our industry as well as for conservation.”

Also unsurprised at the number of female hunters and shooters are the women Olympians of the USA Shooting Team, whose ever-increasing visibility has made them effective ambassadors, role models and recruiters of women to traditional outdoor sports.

“Shooting is one of the most fun and empowering things you can teach a young girl or a grown woman,” said Corey Cogdell, 23, a lifelong hunter and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist in trap shooting. “Most men are surprised to find out that I am an avid outdoors woman and are often intrigued to learn how they can get females in their own lives involved in hunting and shooting.”

Connie Smotek, 45, a two-time Olympic skeet shooter, bronze medalist in the 2009 World Cup, and avid bird and big-game hunter, added, “Shooting and hunting are activities which a woman can enjoy for a lifetime.”

Cogdell and Smotek are among the many USA Shooting Team members who parlayed early interests in hunting into international success in shooting sports—an opportunity that didn’t exist for women until comparatively recently. Women’s shooting wasn’t officially added as an Olympic sport until 1984 (although U.S. rifle shooter Margaret Murdock won a medal competing against men in the 1976 games). Since then, U.S. women have won 10 Olympic medals in shooting, which is a growing source of pride.

Four of those 10 medals were won in the past four Olympics by Kim Rhode, a double-trap and skeet shooter now among the most elite and enduring athletes in all of sports.

The entire USA Shooting Team is serving as honorary chair for NHF Day 2010.

Sponsors for NHF Day 2010 include Wonders of Wildlife, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Bass Pro Shops, Smith & Wesson, Sportsman Channel, Realtree, Cabela’s, GunBroker.com, Yamaha, Pope and Young Club and Izaak Walton League of America.

For more information about NHF Day, visit National Hunting and Fishing Day

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – -(AmmoLand.com)- Every four years, the U.S. fields an Olympic shooting team known worldwide for achieving success in a most un-contemporary way—a rich and distinctly American background in traditional field sports.

Coaches say hunting and fishing, still the primary funding mechanisms for conservation in our country, also help boost America’s competitiveness on the international stage.

In recognition, the entire USA Shooting Team is serving as honorary chair of National Hunting and Fishing Day 2010, set for Sept. 25. Congress established the annual commemoration to recognize hunters and anglers for their leading role in fish, wildlife and habitat conservation. Sporting licenses and special taxes on certain gear generate $100,000 every 30 minutes, totaling more than $1.75 billion per year, for programs that benefit all who love the outdoors.

Denise Wagner of Wonders of Wildlife, the official home of NHF Day in Springfield, Mo., said, “American hunters and anglers are not only world-class conservationists, they have skills that help make world-class athletes.”

National Shotgun Coach Bret Erickson agrees.

“Most members of our shooting team grew up hunting and fishing,” said Erickson, himself a four-time Olympian and lifelong hunter and angler from Bennington, Neb. “Nobody starts hunting because they want to go to the Olympics, but it helps. The skills learned in hunting and, to a lesser degree, fishing—safety and comfort with firearms, basic shooting mechanics, patience, controlling emotions, concentration, ability to focus for long periods, persistence—can translate directly to competitive shooting.”

This deep and unrivaled connection to outdoor traditions helps make the U.S. a surprisingly fierce contender in all three shooting disciplines: shotgun, rifle and pistol.

Erickson explained, “In many countries, Italy for example, shotgun shooting is a premier sport. Everyone shoots. And they shoot the international-style games that are relatively uncommon here in America. So before a match even begins we know we’re outnumbered and outmanned. Our athletes typically haven’t had as much time in their sport. Our training budgets are often smaller. And yet, in shotgun events, the U.S. remains among the top one or two countries in the world.”

He added, “Most nations don’t enjoy the broad freedoms to hunt like we do in the U.S., and that unique tradition and rural lifestyle produce much of our talent. Hunters have always been a reservoir of natural shooting abilities that America has relied on and successfully developed for Olympic competition.”

Shooters are among the most decorated athletes in U.S. Olympic history. With 103 medals for shotgun, rifle and pistol marksmanship, only track and field, swimming, diving, wrestling and boxing have been more prolific medal producers for Americans. In fact, shooting ranks ahead of gymnastics, figure skating, volleyball and more than 30 other Olympic sports.

Buddy DuVall of USA Shooting, the national governing body for Olympic shooting sports, said, “Our team is thrilled to serve for National Hunting and Fishing Day. It’s a great honor to recognize our roots in hunting and fishing, raise awareness of conservation and build appreciation for the sportsmen and women of America.”

Notes and Quotes
A sample of USA Shooting Team members, listed by home state, on hunting, fishing and conservation:

Alaska
Corey Cogdell, 23, Eagle River—Olympic bronze medalist, 2008. Shotgun: trap. First U.S. woman ever to win a medal in her event. Avid hunter with moose, caribou, bear, deer, ducks and upland birds to her credit. Quotable: “Hunting brought me into the shooting sports. I grew up hunting and fishing with my dad. I can remember him teaching me to shoot at a very young age, and I grew up realizing that shooting, hunting, fishing and conservation are all intertwined.”

Dan Jordan, 31, Fairbanks—Paralympic silver medalist, 2004. Rifle: 3 position. Former world record holder in his event. Lifelong sportsman who pursues both big and small game as well as fish in both freshwater and saltwater. Quotable: “The fundamentals of shooting, whether for targets or game, are the same. The same attributes that make you a good hunter can also make you a good shooter—with enough practice.”

Matt Wallace, 26, Fairbanks—Olympic hopeful, 2012. Rifle: various events. Began fishing at age 7, hunting small game at age 8 and big game at age 14. Quotable: “Hunting was the reason why I learned to shoot. Being successful in hunting and fishing, just like in competitive shooting, require the patience to work hard, the ability to focus on what you can control, and the attitude to enjoy the experience along the way.”

California
Jeff Holguin, 31, Yorba Linda—Olympian, 2008; World Championships silver medalist, 2009; World Cup bronze medalist, 2009. Shotgun: double trap. Passionate waterfowler. Quotable: “If it weren’t for bird hunting, I would have never been introduced to clay target shooting. I still love to hunt anything with feathers. When sports fans find out that I hunt, they always ask, ‘Do you eat what you shoot?’ When I describe the sportsmanship and ethics behind hunting they almost never have a problem with me being a hunter.”

Kim Rhode, 30, El Monte—Olympic gold medalist, 1996, 2004; Olympic silver medalist, 2008; Olympic bronze medalist, 2000. Shotgun: double trap, skeet. Most decorated shooter in American history, and among the most enduring and successful Olympic athletes in all of sports. Lifelong angler. As a hunter, collected her first limit of doves at age 7. Since then has taken numerous big game species from several continents. Quotable: “When I won my first Olympic gold medal (age 16, in the Atlanta Games) they rushed me off to be interviewed by the media. The first question I was asked, by a New York Times reporter, was, ‘Which is bigger—the 300-pound bear that you just shot in northern California or the Olympic gold medal around your neck?’ The reporter went on to write a great article and people accepted me as a hunter, angler and outdoor woman.”

Colorado
Lance Bade, 38, Colorado Springs—Olympic bronze medalist, 1996; Olympian 2000, 2004. Shotgun: trap. Since the age of 9, a devoted hunter and angler who now guides big game, waterfowl and upland bird hunts. Quotable: “My accomplishments in shooting and guiding have allowed me to work with all kinds of conservation groups. Conservation not only preserves land for future generations but also assures healthy game populations. All true outdoorsmen are stewards of the land.”

Amber English, 20, Colorado Springs—Junior Olympic gold medalist, 2009. Shotgun: skeet. Enjoys fishing and hunting, especially with her father and other family members. Quotable: “I was taught at a young age about what conservation means and what we as hunters do for wildlife and habitat. I take lots of pride in this. If people don’t take the initiative to help conserve our outdoors, future generations will not get to share the same experiences as we did with hunting, fishing and shooting.”

Iowa
Haley Dunn, 25, Eddyville—National Championships silver medalist, 2009. Shotgun: skeet. Lifelong hunter and angler who enjoys pursuing big game (including an African safari), turkey, upland birds and all kinds of sportfish. Quotable: “Two major traits that hunting has taught me are dedication and patience. I get the same adrenalin rush when a monster whitetail comes by my stand as I get when I am competing for the gold. The patience it takes to sit in a treestand waiting for that one opportunity is the same patience it takes on the skeet field.”

Michigan
Rachael Heiden, 18, Clinton—World Cup bronze medalist, 2009; Junior Olympic gold medalist, 2009. Shotgun: trap. Enjoys fishing as well as hunting for deer, quail and waterfowl. Quotable: “My parents taught me early on that hunting, fishing and conservation went together. However, since I started shooting competitively, it has brought a whole new realization about how our sport can increase that awareness for other people.”

Teresa Meyer, 24, Dearborn—National Championships silver medalist, 2009; collegiate national champion, 2008. Sport pistol; air pistol. As a young child caught her first fish, a 1 lb.-1 oz. bluegill which is mounted at her parents’ home. She also enjoys hunting and has taken seven whitetails. Quotable: “I was a shooter first, but hunting taught the absolute importance of safety. Knowing that I can kill something with a gun made me more aware of why the rules on the range are so important. Hunting also sparked my interest in rifles and I competed nationally for several years with high-powered rifles.”

Collin Wietfeldt, 18, Hemlock—U.S. Junior Olympic gold medalist, 2009; World Championships junior team silver medalist, 2009. Shotgun: trap. Avid hunter, angler and trapper. Quotable: “My life revolves around the shooting sports and the outdoors. I wish more Americans would see how important the great outdoors, the right to bear arms, hunting, fishing and shooting are to not just me, but to all of America and the world.”

Minnesota
Matt Emmons, 28, Grand Rapids—Olympic gold medalist, 2004; Olympic silver medalist, 2008. Rifle: men’s prone, 3×40; air rifle. Multi-record holder in rifle shooting in both NCAA and world levels of rifle competition. Lifelong angler. Grew up hunting deer and rabbits in New Jersey. Since then has gone on to collect numerous big game species across North America as well as Europe and Africa. Quotable: “Hunting got me interested in shooting. Simple as that. No one in my family was a shooter—we didn’t even know it was a serious sport. I’ve learned that taxes from firearm and ammunition sales go toward conservation efforts. I’m happy that everyone involved in these activities is helping to improve hunting and fishing opportunities now and in the future.”

Missouri
Shawn Dulohery, 44, Lee’s Summit—Olympic team member, 2004; World Championships gold medalist, 2001. Shotgun: trap, skeet. Enthusiastic waterfowler since the age of four. Quotable: “Hunting has allowed me to develop the most incredible friendships in the world. Every hunting season has a special place on my calendar—something I always look forward to! It’s a privilege that people from many countries are not allowed to enjoy.”

Nebraska
Frank Thompson, 21, Alliance—Junior Olympic gold medalist, 2008, 2007. Shotgun: skeet. Enjoys bass and trout fishing, pursuing deer with rifle and bow, and hunting for birds and predators. Quotable: “Knowing that shooting sports generate funding for conservation makes me very proud. The idea of conservation came to me at a very early age—growing up ranching with my family, the land had to be healthy to support us, and I realized the land was also used by wildlife. When you have healthy land, you also have a healthy wildlife population.”

North Carolina
Mike Anti, 46, Winterville—Olympic silver medalist, 2004; Olympian 2008, 2000, 1996. Grew up fishing and later began shooting as preparation for hunting. Quotable: “Most hunters practice conservation and have a deep respect for the outdoors and nature. My hunting and fishing activities are increasing now that my boys are old enough to enjoy them with me. Some of my most memorable hunting and fishing experiences have been when my boys have taken a nice deer or caught a big fish. The time we spend together in the field, on the range or in a boat is priceless.”

South Dakota
Brian Beaman, 25, Selby—Olympian, 2008. Pistol: various events. Loves to hunt pheasants but also enjoys big game hunting. Quotable: “I have been hunting for as long as I have been able to walk. When I was a kid my dad would break apart one of his over-and-under shotguns and let me carry the back half in the field. My hunting and fishing skills later transferred to competition. If you want to have a successful hunt you need to practice, have a plan for success, be patient and stay focused—all true in sports, too.”

Texas
B.J. Banchard, 19, Vidor—Olympic hopeful, 2012. Shotgun: skeet. Has been hunting as long as he can remember and is especially fond of bird hunting. Quotable: “Hunting is what got me started in shooting. Every time I go out hunting it seems to help my skills in skeet shooting.”

Glenn Eller, 28, Katy—Olympic gold medalist, 2008. Shotgun: double trap. Fervent bass angler and deer hunter. Quotable: “The first time I passed up a deer that most people dream of shooting because I would rather have it in the gene pool than on my wall, I really made the connection between conservation and hunting. Without hunters, there would be far less pristine land left in the world.”

Sean McClelland, 24, Harlingen—Olympian, 2008. Shotgun: skeet. Grew up fishing the saltwater flats of the Texas gulf coast, chasing redfish and speckled trout. Also an avid bird and big game hunter. Quotable: “Hunting at a very early age proved to be the foundation for my interest in the shooting sports. This passion eventually opened the doors for my Olympic dreams. It was through hunting, also, that I learned how hunting license and tag fees go back into conservation efforts for all kinds of wildlife.”

Connie Smotek, 45, Bryan—Olympian, 2004, 1992; World Cup bronze medalist, 2009. Shotgun: skeet. Longtime dove hunter, deer hunter and angler. Quotable: “Hunting and fishing require staying calm, being patient and paying attention to detail, which for me has translated to better focus in competition.”

Washington
John Mullins, 22, Port Orchard—National Championships gold medalist, 2009. Shotgun: trap. An avid elk and deer hunter who started out hunting ducks and geese, as well as fishing offshore for salmon and halibut. Quotable: “When I represent our sport, I’m not only representing the shooting world but also one of America’s longest passions—the outdoors.”

Jacob Turner, 20, Richland—World Championships silver medalist, 2009; Junior Olympics silver medalist, 2009; National Championships silver medalist, 2009. Shotgun: trap. Devoted duck and goose hunter who also enjoys big game hunting and salmon and bass fishing. Quotable: “I remember when I was younger, my dad explained the Wildlife and Sportfish Restoration Acts. Basically it means that when you buy supplies for hunting, shooting and fishing, a portion of the revenue supports and improves wildlife and habitat for all to enjoy.”

USA Shooting Team<br

During its second year partnering with NHF Day, Yamaha was able to help make the 2009 celebration a great success – with registered events taking place across more than 40 states.

“Conservation efforts for hunting, fishing and other recreational activities are very important to Yamaha, and through our partnerships with awareness programs such as NHF Day we can expand our own efforts to support safe, responsible enjoyment of these activities,” said Steve Nessl, marketing manager for Yamaha’s ATV/SxS group. “Congratulations to Mr. Letissier, and we hope he enjoys his new Yamaha Grizzly 550 ATV with electric power steering and the most off-road capability in its class – a perfect ATV for outdoorsmen.”

Scheduled annually on the fourth Saturday of September, this year’s celebration of hunting, fishing and conservation took place on September 26, 2009. NHF Day was formalized by Congress as a public reminder that hunters, anglers and shooters are America’s premier conservation supporters who generate $100,000 every 30 minutes for fish, wildlife and habitat programs. The annual events provide an opportunity to share that message and introduce new participants to outdoor recreational activities while showing the nation what a positive impact these activities have on conservation efforts.

In addition to sponsoring outdoors conservation groups, Yamaha launched its OHV Access Initiative in January of 2008, and has since approved more than $1 million in GRANTs across the country supporting its mission of safe, responsible riding and open, sustainable trails. Through its partnership with Outdoor Life’s Save a Stream program, Yamaha is helping promote this responsible message to all outdoorsmen and women.

About Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A.
National Hunting and Fishing Day

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—-(AmmoLand.com)- National Hunting and Fishing Day is set for Sept. 26, 2009. And for those of us who’ve long understood and enjoyed these passions, share the pride by introducing someone new to hunting, fishing or shooting.”

Here are three reasons for the American public to value hunting and fishing today:

Economic Impact
No bailouts needed here. Hunting and angling together are an economic force worth $76 billion a year. In 2010, America’s economic stimulus package will generate its highest level of federal spending at $236 billion—but hunters and anglers will spend almost a third of that amount all by themselves. A Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation report shows if hunters and anglers were a nation, their Gross Domestic Product would rank 57 out of 181 countries. About 1.6 million jobs depend on hunters and anglers. Gas stations, stores, restaurants, hotels and other businesses benefit, especially in rural America. And these recreations are comparatively recession proof. In the first half of 2009, hunting and fishing license sales actually gained 7.6 and 5.4 percent, respectively, over 2008, say the National Shooting Sports Foundation and Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation.

Wildlife Management
Rabies, crop damages, nuisances. Hunting helps control these wildlife issues and many others—none more dramatic than highway accidents involving deer. White-tailed deer once were on the verge of extinction but rebounded behind historic conservation efforts. Today, deer numbers are skyrocketing. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety estimates 1.5 million deer collisions occur each year. Over 200 people are killed annually. According to a Western Transportation Institute calculation that includes costs of emergency response, injuries to driver and passengers, damages to vehicle and more, the 2009 average cost of hitting a deer is $6,600. Total public cost: $9.9 billion a year. Now consider that, nationwide, for every deer hit by a motorist, hunters take six. Imagine the human casualties and costs if hunting ended.

Conservation Funding
What if Congress announced a tax increase to cover $2 billion in annual expenses for conservation programs? Don’t worry. Hunters and anglers are already paying that tab. For the privilege of consuming surplus, renewable game and fish resources, hunters and anglers purchase licenses. They also pay special excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, bows, arrows, rods and reels. Combined, these fees generate $100,000 every 30 minutes, more than $1.75 billion per year, for wildlife, fisheries and habitat programs. Hunters and anglers also contribute another $300 million a year to nonprofit organizations that extend conservation benefits even further. Results have brought many species—turkey, elk pronghorn, Canada goose, wood duck and others—and their habitats from vanishing to flourishing. These efforts enabled restoration of other species such as wolves. America’s living landscape is a precious asset for all citizens who enjoy wildlife and wild places.

Country music star Luke Bryan is serving as honorary chairman of National Hunting and Fishing Day 2009.

About:
West Virginia State Parks

West Virginia --(AmmoLand.com)- On September 26 and 27, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR), together with the West Virginia Wildlife Federation, will cosponsor West Virginia’s Annual Celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Days (NH&FD). This year’s event will again be held at Stonewall Resort State Park in Roanoke (near Weston), Lewis County, conveniently located along Interstate 79 (Exit 91).

“This event is designed to appeal to outdoor enthusiasts of any age – and is especially beneficial to young, budding hunters, anglers, and those who enjoy non-consumptive outdoor pursuits like bird watching, camping, hiking and the like,” said DNR Director Frank Jezioro. “NH&FD is the largest, single weekend outdoor-oriented event in the state, and is something not to be missed.”

“We are proud to bring back the outstanding archery showman Byron Ferguson,” stated Event Coordinator Jerry Westfall. “Byron is an unparalleled archery talent whose performances leave audiences across the nation speechless.”

Other very popular exhibitors coming include: Roy Moose (West Virginia snakes); Tom Bechdel (coyotes); Smokey McNicholas (deer and other wildlife calls).

Popular displays are back, including the West Virginia Big Buck Display and West Virginia Trophy Fish Display, displaying some of the largest deer and fish taken in the state.

“We are also proud to have back the squirrel field dressing and skinning demonstration, which was such a hit last year when it was introduced,” noted Westfall. “This squirrel demonstration compliments our long-standing deer field dressing and skinning demonstration, which has taught proper field dressing and skinning techniques to a couple of generations of wildlife enthusiasts.

“NH&FD is especially beneficial to young people, and we encourage youth attendance by keeping prices low and by providing two action-packed days of youth activities,” said Westfall.

The Outdoor Youth Challenge (a youth expo and competition relating to wildlife, hunting, fishing, firearms safety and outdoor recreation) has expanded this year. “The Outdoor Youth Challenge is perhaps the most important event at NH&FD, because for some youngsters this may be the only opportunity they will have to be around these fun and exciting outdoor activities.

“The hunting simulator, climbing wall, lake boat rides, and the W.Va. Army National Guard Blackhawk Helicopter are always a big hit with the kids. Parents can rest assured their children will have an action-packed day of learning and fun, which they will talk about for years,” noted Westfall.

“NH&FD is more than a hunting and fishing show – it is an outdoor/indoor event which provides outdoor-enthusiasts the ability to learn and participate,” noted Westfall. “Here, adults and youth (under supervision) can try for absolutely free: archery, muzzleloader shooting, .22 caliber shooting, skeet (shotgun) shooting, fly casting, and many other activities. And this year, thanks to Horton Archery, we have added another item for people to try – crossbow shooting!

“NH&FD is designed to generate excitement about outdoor-related activities and ultimately promote recruitment and retention of young hunters, anglers and wildlife-watchers, and those older individuals who have temporarily abandoned these sports,” noted Director Jezioro. “With this event, we hope we can help preserve our outdoor heritage in West Virginia. We hope to educate the public by providing opportunities to learn the skills, safety, ethics, respect and stewardship needed for these outdoor activities, and basically, just to encourage folks to get outdoors and have fun. It also provides folks an opportunity to learn how other organizations, agencies, landowners and businesses are helping to conserve West Virginia’s wildlife and preserve our hunting, fishing, and wildlife-watching heritage.”

For more information on NH&FD, including a complete schedule, descriptions of activities, and an event map, go to the DNR Web site at www.wvdnr.gov/hunting/nathuntfish.shtm, call Event Coordinator Jerry Westfall at 304-558-2771; or e-mail jerrywestfall@wvdnr.gov. class="wp-caption-text">West Virginia DNR

Roanoke, W.Va. –-(AmmoLand.com)- The man with the “magic bow,” Byron Ferguson, will return for the 2009 edition of West Virginia’s Celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Days at Stonewall Resort State Park September 26-27. The annual celebration of everything dealing with the outdoors is sponsored by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR) and the West Virginia Wildlife Federation.

“Byron first amazed the crowd at the 2007 Hunting and Fishing Days event, and the 2009 show will truly showcase his skill,” said event organizer Jerry Westfall of the Wildlife Resources Section of DNR. “Byron took an interest in the longbow at the age of 12, first shooting out candles in the pitch dark night to develop his skill. Byron is able to do the impossible when it involves the bow and arrow. He is able to shoot coins out of the air, split playing cards, and even shoot an arrow through a wedding ring in mid-air.”

Asked why he prefers the longbow, the master archer indicates the reason is the

“romance that is tied to the weapon. Longbows are traceable to the cavemen and have been praised in songs, poems and stories since the dawn of mankind.”

Ferguson is always a show favorite, attracting not only avid bow hunters and archers, but the entire family. He has taken his talents around the world, performing in eight foreign countries and on dozens of television programs.

In addition, Ferguson now lends his skill and talents to his son, Zach, in the development and marketing of his own line of signature longbows. Additional information is available from Byron’s Web site at www.byronferguson.com.

Anyone interested in outdoors activities of all kinds are invited to attend the West Virginia’s Celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Days at Stonewall Resort State Park on September 26 and 27 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday. A complete show listing and schedule are available on the DNR Web site at www.wvdnr.gov/hunting/nathuntfish.shtm.
Tags: New Jersey Fish and Game

Oxford, NJ --(AmmoLand.com)- The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife will hold its popular Wildlife Heritage Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 at the Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center in Oxford. The festival is free and will be held rain or shine.

The festival is held on National Hunting and Fishing Day, an annual celebration of hunter and angler heritage. Hunters and anglers were the first to recognize that rapid development and unregulated use of wildlife was a serious threat to the future of many species.

They called for the first laws restricting the commercial slaughter of wildlife. They urged sustainable use of fish and game, created hunting and fishing licenses, and lobbied for taxes on sporting equipment to provide funds for state conservation agencies.

These actions were the foundation of the North American wildlife conservation model, a science-based, user-pay system that would foster the most dramatic conservation successes of all time.

The festival is an invitation to the public to experience and learn about activities associated with the hunter and angler heritage and the protection, management and wise use of our fish and wildlife resources. This year’s event will feature fish and wildlife research and management exhibits and presentations, wildlife artists, taxidermists, conservation organization exhibits, archery and shotgun ranges, a Sportsmen’s Flea market and the opportunity for children to fish at the Pequest fishing education pond. An introduction to Kayaking course will also be offered this year, as will a Hunter Education course for prospective hunters.

For more information about the festival and to see the entire schedule of events visit the Fish and Wildlife Web site at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/festival09.htm Some of the activities require pre-registration, so be sure to check the schedule of events closely for sign up dates.

For more information about National Hunting and Fishing Day visit http://www.nhfday.org/ .

The Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center is located on Route 46 approximately nine miles west of Hackettstown in scenic Warren County.
Tags: Pennsylvania Game Commission

HARRISBURG PA --(AmmoLand.com)- Pennsylvania Game Commission officials, in September, will participate in and host four outdoors events promoting wildlife and hunting and trapping.

In Crawford County, the 27th annual Pymatuning Ducks Unlimited Waterfowl Expo will be held Sept. 19-20 in and around Linesville, Crawford County. A highlight of the two-day event is the selection of the 28th Annual Pennsylvania Waterfowl Management Stamp from entries by many of the Commonwealth’s most accomplished wildlife artists, which will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Linesville High School, 302 West School Drive.

At 10 a.m., on Sept. 19, the Game Commission will conduct its annual public drawing to select those who will be afforded an opportunity to use one of the blinds for waterfowl hunting at Pymatuning. The drawing will be held at the Game Commission’s Pymatuning Administration Building, 9552 Hartstown Rd.

At 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 19, Kevin Jacobs, Game Commission biologist, will hold a waterfowl information and banding program, with the opportunity for children to assist in the release of wild ducks, at the Learning Center, 12590 Hartstown Road. The Learning Center also will be open on Saturday and Sunday for visitors.

Also on Sept. 19-20, the Game Commission’s Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area will host the 23rd Annual Middle Creek Wildfowl Show. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Visitor Center, which is along Hopeland Road, two miles south of Kleinfeltersville, on the Lebanon-Lancaster county line.

Admission is free, but donations are graciously accepted and will benefit the Wildlands Preservation Fund, which has helped to preserve more than 46,000 acres in an 18-county area in eastern Pennsylvania, including more than 1,200 acres at Middle Creek.

The show features wildfowl carvings and carving supplies, artwork, collectibles, dog training supplies and hunting items from more than 60 vendors. Retriever demonstrations will be at 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Sept. 19, and at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21. Two different retriever clubs will display their dogs’ abilities, both with water retrievals and upland retrievals. Demonstrations on Saturday will be performed by the Keystone Retriever Club, and on Sunday, by the Northern Piedmont Retriever Club.

Decoy competitions will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, and winners will be announced at 4 p.m. Carvers may enter their creations into different categories to include decorative, working and shorebird gunning rigs. Each year, a different duck is chosen for the decorative competition. This year, the hooded merganser was selected.

Pennsylvania State Duck and Goose Calling Championships will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The winner of the duck calling competition will likely go to the world duck calling championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas, and the winner of the goose calling competition will likely go to the world goose calling championship in Easton, Maryland.

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, representatives of the Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, along with several respected statewide sportsmen’s organizations, will host a National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration in the East Wing Rotunda of the State Capitol in Harrisburg.

The event, which will feature a series of informational booths, will run from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., and will include a news conference at 11 a.m. The event will highlight the importance hunting, trapping, fishing and boating and the related activities supported by the two independent state agencies have had on and continue to provide to the state’s cultural heritage, outdoors recreation and economy.

On Sunday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Middle Creek will host a National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration. Planned events include hands-on activities for people of all ages.

Activities include (* denotes hands-on activities): exhibits/displays from local, state, and national sportsmen’s organizations; archery shoot*; muzzleloading rifles*; fly rod casting instruction*; fishing*; and trapping demonstrations.

Additionally, Red Creek Rehabers will conduct two live birds of prey demonstrations during the day.

Another highlight will be the laser SHOT system, available for kids of all ages to try. The SHOT system is a simulated hunting experience to test an individual’s marksmanship and decision-making in hunting situations.

In 1970, the first to suggest an official “day of thanks” to sportsmen was Ira Joffe, owner of Joffe’s Gun Shop in Upper Darby, Delaware County. Gov. Raymond Shafer adopted Joffe’s idea and created “Outdoor Sportsman’s Day” in the state.

With determined prompting from various sportsmen, the concept soon emerged on the national level when, in early 1972, Congress unanimously passed legislation authorizing a National Hunting and Fishing Day. On May 2, 1972, President Richard Nixon signed the first proclamation of National Hunting and Fishing Day, and soon after, all 50 governors and more than 600 mayors had joined in by proclaiming state and local versions of National Hunting and Fishing Day.
Tags: GoHuntGeorgia.com

SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. --(AmmoLand.com)- In celebration of the passion for the outdoors that you share with 64 million other Americans, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division encourages you to get out and participate in one of the many FREE celebrations that will be held in honor of the 2009 National Hunting and Fishing day. Governor Sonny Perdue recently signed a proclamation in honor of the conservation efforts led by America’s hunters and anglers, recognizing Saturday, Sept. 26 as NHF Day in Georgia, noting the plans underway for a statewide celebration.

Events that will be offered in Georgia include nine kids’ fishing events and five Outdoor Adventure Days (activities will differ at each event – but some highlights include archery and air rifle shooting, trout fishing, hunting dog demonstrations, wildlife programs, exhibits and more). These events are spread out across the whole state – meaning that one is probably near you!

In addition to these events, a FREE fishing day is offered to all Georgia residents on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009. On this day, residents do NOT need a fishing license or a trout license to fish on any public waters in the state including lakes, streams, ponds and public fishing areas (PFA). In addition, residents do not need to obtain a wildlife management area (WMA) license to fish on a PFA, WMA or on Waters Creek on this day.

And if you thought the day could not get better – it just did. Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites are offering a FREE day on Sept. 26, 2009, which means no parking or admission fees.

The U.S. Congress and President Richard Nixon established National Hunting and Fishing Day 38 years ago to recognize generations of hunters and anglers for the time and money – more than a billion dollars each year – they donate to wildlife conservation programs.

Tags: <a

The festival is free and will be held rain or shine.

The festival is held on National Hunting and Fishing Day, an annual celebration of hunter and angler heritage and its contributions to fish and wildlife conservation.

The festival is an invitation to the public to experience and learn about activities associated with the hunter and angler heritage and the protection, management and wise use of our fish and wildlife resource.

For more information about the festival and to see the entire schedule of events visit the Fish and Wildlife web site at Deltawaterfowl.org

Bismarck, N.D.- -(AmmoLand.com)- Delta Waterfowl is proud to announce it is a new partner of National Hunting and Fishing Day, slated for September 26.

National Hunting and Fishing DayThe annual commemoration will hold several events across the country to promote awareness about hunting, fishing and wildlife conservation, as well as celebrate America’s rich, time-honored outdoors heritage. Delta Waterfowl’s regional directors are busy spreading the word to chapters and volunteers at the grassroots level about the day’s many events.

“Hunters and anglers have always been on the front lines of conservation-with their pocketbooks or by getting their hands dirty-and this day commemorates their achievements and generosity and raises awareness for what we need to do now and in the future to keep our traditions alive and well,” said Senior Vice President John Devney. “Delta Waterfowl is very pleased to be partner of this celebration of our outdoors heritage.”

On May 2, 1972, President Richard Nixon signed the first proclamation of National Hunting and Fishing Day, saying he urged “all citizens to join with outdoor sportsmen in the wise use of our natural resources and insuring their proper management for the benefit of future generations.”

By late summer, all 50 governors and more than 600 mayors had proclaimed their versions of National Hunting and Fishing Day. In the end, more than 3000 hunting- and fishing-related events were held, providing an estimated 4 million people with an opportunity to experience or learn about America’s outdoors traditions.

“It’s very important that the general public understand the critical role sportsmen and women played-and play-as stewards and guardians of our natural resources so that generations to come can hunt and fish and enjoy the outdoors,” said Devney. “For decades, hunters and anglers have worked countless hours to preserve and improve countless acres of vital habitat-land and waters that, of course, have benefitted everyone. That’s why a special day like this devoted to raising awareness is so important.”

Still, Devney is worried. He says conservation’s primary funding sources-hunters and anglers-are, for a variety reasons, leaving the heritage. Devney said waterfowl hunters in particular are an ominous case in point: According to the 2006 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife-Associated Recreation, waterfowl hunter numbers from 2001 to 2006 plunged 27 percent.

“As a research organization, we looked at those disturbing losses and decided to investigate, and what we came up with was a five-part series in our magazine called the Vanishing Hunter that documented the demographic and social issues contributing to the loss of hunters nationwide,” said Devney. “What we learned, in part, is that the first step to securing the future of hunting is reconnecting with the culture-those ancient roots that keep our traditions alive.

Devney says the research has helped improve Delta’s comprehensive mentored hunt program. “We’ve always targeted youths to address the long-term issues of hunter recruitment, but now we’re reaching out to university students, women and families, and the reception has been tremendous,” said Devney, noting that Delta’s mentored hunts are unique because they incorporate hunter education, conservation education, skills training, game preparation and eating. “By immersing youths and adults, men and women into all aspects of our waterfowling culture, we believe they will become lifelong hunters and conservationists.”

Indeed, reversing hunter and angler loses is critical to the long-term future of conservation, notes Denise Wagner, program coordinator for National Hunting and Fishing Day. Through licenses, permits, and special taxes on hunting and fishing equipment, hunters and anglers generate $100,000 every 30 minutes-totaling more than $1.75 billion per year-for fish, wildlife and habitat, she said.

Said Wagner: “We’re pleased to partner with Delta Waterfowl this year. With their help we’re reaching out even further with a message that healthy fish, wildlife, and habitat depend on leadership and stewardship of hunters and anglers.”

For more information about National Hunting and Fishing Day and its events: www.nhfday.org. class="wp-caption-text">National Hunting and Fishing Day

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- Bowhunting is deeply engrained in traditional outdoor sports and conservation, a proud heritage promoted and protected by the Pope and Young Club. Today the Club is announcing a new partnership to help strengthen these efforts—a sponsorship of National Hunting and Fishing Day for 2009.

NHF Day, formalized by Congress in 1972, has been called the most effective grassroots effort in history to educate the American public about hunting, fishing and conservation.

Always the fourth Saturday in September, the 2009 celebration is slated for Sept. 26.

“It’s gratifying to welcome new sponsors, and the Pope and Young Club is the latest national supporter for our continuing efforts to build public appreciation for traditional outdoor lifestyles and their ties to healthy fish, wildlife and habitat. We’re appreciative of the Pope and Young Club’s leadership,” said Denise Wagner of Wonders of Wildlife museum in Springfield, Mo.—the official home of NHF Day.

Wonders of Wildlife is developing new ways to deliver the NHF Day message. For example, free, downloadable hunting and fishing communication tools, tips, handouts and more for students and public speakers are now posted to www.nhfday.org.

Such efforts are designed to pass the word that nobody does more for conservation than hunters, anglers and sport shooters. Hunting and fishing licenses, along with excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, bows, arrows, rods and reels, together generate $100,000 every 30 minutes—totaling more than $1.75 billion per year—for conserving fish and wildlife resources.

“The Pope and Young Club is proud to proclaim its public support of National Hunting and Fishing Day. We stand shoulder to shoulder with millions of sportsmen and women in paying tribute to our nation’s first and oldest outdoor pastime. Our NHF Day sponsorship represents a serious commitment to assisting in the organized efforts to preserve hunting and fishing for future generations to enjoy, and we are immensely pleased to be a part of this vital campaign,” said Pope and Young Club President M.R. James.

Country music star Luke Bryan is the honorary chairman for NHF Day 2009.
The growing list of sponsors for National Hunting and Fishing Day includes Wonders of Wildlife, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Bass Pro Shops, Sportsman Channel, Realtree, GunBroker.com, Hunting Heritage Trust, Cabela’s, Boone and Crockett Club, Smith & Wesson, Field & Stream/Outdoor Life, Woolrich, Yamaha and the Pope and Young Club.

For more information, visit www.nhfday.org.

About:
National Shooting Sports Foundation

NEWTOWN, Conn. –-(AmmoLand.com)- The Obama campaign in Indiana, on September 27, unlawfully obtained and made unauthorized use of a proprietary media list belonging to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for the firearms industry.

Sen. Obama used this list to e-mail a press release concerning National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Earlier today, NSSF sent a “cease and desist” letter to the Obama campaign demanding that they immediately stop any further unauthorized misuse of its proprietary media list.

The list contains the names and addresses of members of the media that attended the NSSF Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) – the world’s largest firearms trade show and the 23rd largest trade show of any kind in North America.

The list can only be obtained from NSSF and its use is tightly controlled by NSSF. Neither the Obama campaign, nor its operations in Indiana, obtained any rights from NSSF to use the list.

NSSF’s letter also demands that the Obama campaign destroy all copies of the list, identify how they obtained the list and pay monetary damages to NSSF for its misappropriation and unauthorized use of the association’s intellectual property. NSSF demanded an immediate response from the Obama campaign and has threatened to file a lawsuit against the campaign if its demands are not met.

“NSSF will not sit idly by while its legal rights are harmed, particularly for partisan political gain,” said NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel Lawrence G. Keane.

NSSF is also encouraging all sportsmen and gun-owners to visit the NSSF Voter Education Web-site and educate themselves about the candidates’ records and positions on issues important to them in this election.
Tags: <a
