class="wp-caption-text">Remington Arms Company

Madison, NC --(Ammoland.com)- In 1962, Remington Arms Company, LLC., (“Remington”) introduced a bolt- action rifle that had an immediate and major impact on the shooting world. Advertised as, “the world’s strongest bolt-action,” the Model 700 ultimately earned its reputation for delivering out-of- the-box accuracy and rock-solid dependability.

With more than 5 million units sold, the Model 700 family of rifles is the most diverse centerfire rifle line available today. There are stainless, rich-blued and matte-finished versions to choose from with a variety of stock options that includes camo, synthetic, walnut and laminate – all offered in a range of calibers unrivaled in the industry.

But there’s only one Model 700 BDL 50th Anniversary rifle, and Remington is proud to announce this limited-edition rifle designed specifically to celebrate a milestone in the history of the legendary Model 700.

The 50th Anniversary rifle design is based on the original 1962 Model 700 BDL, a designation that was originally an acronym for B-Deluxe Grade. The classic look continues with a satin- finished “B” grade American walnut stock with right-handed cheek piece. Enhancing the classic look of the stock are cut fleur-de-lis-style checkering and period-style, white-line spacers on the black fore-end and pistol-grip caps, as well as a black-vented recoil pad.

The durable 24-inch carbon steel, magnum-contoured, rifle-sighted barrel features satin-blued finish for a striking appearance. Other standard features include a drilled and tapped receiver for scope mounting; four-round magazine capacity; sling swivel studs; and our patented, accuracy-enhancing, X-Mark Pro adjustable trigger set at 3 ½ pounds. Further identifying the limited edition Model 700 BDL 50th Anniversary rifle for collectors and enthusiasts is a commemorative logo laser- engraved on the magazine floor plate.

The Model 700 50th Anniversary rifle is chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum. The cartridge was introduced in 1962 along with the Model 700. Since 1962, hunters have admired the 7mm Remington Magnum as an excellent long-range, flat-shooting, big-game cartridge. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the pairing of rifle and caliber.

The Model 700 BDL 50th Anniversary rifle is available at a suggested retail price of $1399.

For additional information on the Model 700 family of rifles and other Remington products, please visit our web site at www.remington.com .

Ammoland.com)- Remington Arms Company, LLC., (“Remington”), is pleased to announce that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has recently purchased an additional 300 Remington Model 870 shotguns designated specifically for use in their “less-than-lethal” program.

The shotguns in this program will be used to deploy specialized munitions considered “less-than-lethal” when deadly force is not justified nor warranted. The Model 870 shotguns for the program were custom designed by the Sheriff’s Department and built by Remington’s Law Enforcement Custom Build Division with highly conspicuous, brightly-colored butt stocks so they can be easily identified as “less-than-lethal”.

“We are honored to be selected by such a prestigious organization as LASD to supply application specific solutions based upon the Model 870,” stated Rick Johnson, Director of Law Enforcement Sales. “The opportunity to develop and deliver shotguns essential to the specific needs of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is something Remington is proud of.”

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has been a front runner in the development and deployment of their “less-than- lethal” program. With almost 11,000 sworn personnel, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is the third largest municipal agency in the nation providing service and protection to its residents, from the wilderness of the Angeles National Forest to the crowed inner city.

Since its introduction in 1950, nearly 10 million Model 870 shotguns have been produced. It remains the overwhelming choice for law enforcement divisions due to its historical dependability. Through numerous configurations and variants, the Model 870 platform is used for law enforcement, military applications and sporting purposes in more than 50 countries including the United States.

About Remington Arms Company, LLC
Ammoland.com)- Remington Arms Company, LLC. is proud to announce that the Los Angeles Police Department again chose the Remington Model 870 Police Magnum and Model 870 Police Marine Magnums as their department issued shotguns.

“We are excited and proud to supply LAPD its shotguns as we have continued to produce our police weapons to the highest standards in our custom police build area to insure the quality of our weapons going out to police departments across this great nation” said Rick Johnson, Director of Law enforcement sales.

With a roster of nearly 10,000 officers protecting and serving more than 4 million residents in an area covering approximately 500 square miles, the LAPD is one of our nation’s finest police forces. To help meet their demanding law enforcement challenges, the LAPD is ordering another 96 Model 870 Police Magnum shotguns. These unique shotguns have a special choke barrel only available in special build configurations of our most popular 18-inch, rifle-sighted barrels. Unique numbering for the agency is being provided at their request to track the number of shotguns purchased in any given year, as well as a unique number to the shotgun for agency issuing and tracking purposes.

For their officers assigned to water and harbor protection, the LAPD also ordered Remington Model 870 Police Marine Magnums. These models feature an Electroless Nickel Plate finish for long life in the harsh sea salt environment inherent to this assignment. The finish is also used on internal parts for protection of the operating parts. The LAPD’s unique property number system will be a part of these shotguns as well as the other duty shotguns.

Remington is the leading law enforcement shotgun manufacturer in the United States and has produced more than 10 million Model 870 shotguns. The Model 870 was introduced in 1950 and continues to be a staple of hunting, competition, recreational and law enforcement. It is considered by many to be the only shotgun a person need ever own. It is built with a solid steel receiver machined from an 8-pound block of ordinance steel. The dual action bars offer the most reliable operating system of any pump action shotgun.

About Remington Arms Company, LLC
National Rifle Association

Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)- This week, CNBC aired an hour-long attack on the Remington 700 rifle, rehashing decades-old allegations about the popular rifle’s trigger system.

(Interestingly, the network’s “10-month investigation” aired just a few months after a press release went out from a Kansas City law firm that has sued Remington in the past, seeking plaintiffs for new cases against the gun maker.)

While CNBC and plaintiffs’ lawyers claim the rifle will fire without the trigger being pulled, Remington says that neither the company nor the plaintiffs’ expert witnesses have ever been able to cause such a discharge in a properly maintained, unaltered rifle.

The program also repeated the gun ban lobby’s longstanding complaint that the Consumer Product Safety Commission doesn’t have the power to order recalls of firearms and ammunition. Congress’s wisdom in refusing to give CPSC that power was proven in the 1990s, when CPSC staff told the Clinton White House the agency “would love to get into the gun regulation business” and anti-gun Sen. Howard Metzenbaum (D-Ohio) introduced legislation to remove the restriction.

The NRA is second to no one in supporting and promoting firearm safety, and NRA publications have regularly published announcements of voluntary recalls by gun and ammunition manufacturers. Yet since long before “Dateline NBC” used rocket motors to blow up pickup trucks in staged collisions, gun owners have rightly been skeptical of the mainstream media’s ability to report fairly and accurately on firearms issues.

These attacks on Remington are far from over, and NRA members who want to hear the company’s side of the story can visit Remington’s new website on the issue at Remington Outdoor Foundation

Maryland --(Ammoland.com)- The Maryland Natural Resources Police, an arm of Maryland Department of Natural Resources, is providing new safety training resources to its hunter education instructors with a recent purchase of 110 firearm training sets from the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA) and Remington Outdoor Foundation.

The new firearm training set features five firearms that include every action covered in IHEA’s curriculum. Each firearm is completely disabled so it cannot discharge, which allows students to learn by doing with a tool that simulates an actual firearm in every way except for live fire.

According to Sgt. Linda Gaulden, supervisor of the Safety Education Division, the Maryland Hunter Education Program graduated more than 7,000 students last year and expects to reach that many again in 2010 with this innovative training tool.

“The Maryland Natural Resources Police is very excited about the IHEA/Remington Outdoor Foundation Training Gun Sets,” said Sgt. Gaulden.

“We feel the gun sets will greatly enhance our program, adding a whole new level of safety in our classrooms by removing live firing breech loading guns. The students will be able to handle five actions of firearms; we can use these to demonstrate shooting positions, crossing obstacles and fences, and tree stand and blind demonstrations. The list is endless as to how we will use these training guns in our teaching scenarios. They will certainly create a safer classroom environment while teaching the students proper handling of firearms.”

Every firearm in the set – the Remington 870 pump action shotgun, Remington 11-87 semi-auto shotgun, Marlin bolt action .22, Marlin lever action centerfire 30/30, and H&R single barrel break action – features a blaze orange stock that is laser engraved with the IHEA and Remington Outdoor Foundation logos. These durable, high quality firearms are powder coated to make the metal parts resistant to rust and other elements.

“I personally was able to handle the training set firearms at the IHEA Conference in Colorado,” said Sgt. Gaulden.

“I was very impressed with the quality. The fluorescent orange stocks and forends will not allow these guns to get mixed up with your live fire inventory. The engraving on each gun that states they are a ‘non-functioning firearm’ is very clear. And the weight and balance of the training guns is exactly that of a normal functioning firearm.”

A wheeled gun case is also available, allowing instructors to easily transport the firearms training set.

The firearm training set is ideal for IHEA as well as for law enforcement instructors and those who offer safety training at events introducing youth, women and others to hunting and target shooting.

“I think these IHEA training gun sets are a good investment now, due to the price reduction offered by Remington Outdoor Foundation, but the real investment will be the years of use we will get out of these sets and the thousands of Maryland Hunter Education students who will benefit from this wonderful training tool,” said Sgt. Gaulden.

While the first order of 600 firearm training sets already has been placed, a second order will be made as soon as the minimum of 500 sets is met.

The 5-Firearm Training Set retails for $2,100 or $2,500 with the wheeled gun case. Nonprofit organizations can receive the special discounted price of $1,500 or $1,750 with the wheeled gun case.

Those living within the U.S. can place their order by contacting Tina West at Leorders@remington.com or 1-800-852-7634.
Tags: <a

2011 Special Edition GUNS Annual
FMG Publications
San Diego, Calif. --(Ammoland.com)- Hunters who hit the mountain hard and don’t stop until their trophy is on the ground or the season is over, may have found their golden ticket according to 2011 Special Edition GUNS Annual contributing editor Richard Mann.
Equipped with the Remington Model 700 XCR II, Mann set out to prove why the Winchester Model 70 may be known as the rifleman’s rifle, but the Remington Model 700 XCR II is the hunter’s rifle.
“It would appear Remington has once again succeeded in making the Model 700 even better,” Mann writes. “The affordability, accuracy and aesthetically pleasing lines of the 700 give it mass appeal. Remington’s newest Model 700, the XCR II, might be the best 700 yet. As least as far as real hunters are concerned.”
Mann modestly includes himself in that group.
“I’m just a simple hillbilly who likes to hunt,” Mann writes.
“Many years ago my best friend showed me a rifle to do this with. Years later, when I was assigned as a designated marksman at my police department, the same rifle worked just as well in that role. It was a Remington Model 700.”
Other features include:Novekse’s Caribine: Reliable As It Gets
African Big Bore: The Robar Way
DPMS Raptr: Firepower On Patrol
Cimarron’s .45-75: Roosevelt’s Favorite
S&W i-Bolt: A Solid Performer
All 1911: All The Time
Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor: Yes, It’s A Hunting Cartridge
and many more.Additionally, the 2011 Special Edition GUNS Annual is jam-packed with the news, notes and anecdotes readers have come to expect from its monthly magazine counterpart in the last 55 years. Publisher Roy Huntington treats the Annual Special Edition as icing on GUNS Magazine’s cake.
“With a wide cross-section of articles covering topics from hunting and target shooting, to self-defense — the GUNS Annual offers insight and skills for any level of shooter,” said publisher Roy Huntington. “To know more about many topics is important — specialization is for insects.”
The 2011 Special Edition GUNS Annual also includes the first look at 2011’s Buyer’s Guide, FMG Publications’ catalog of currently available handguns, rifles, shotguns, knives and lights.

class="wp-caption-text">Remington Outdoor Foundation

Madison, NC - -(AmmoLand.com)- Remington Outdoor Foundation donated its second of three $250,000 installments, which when matched three to one are expected to generate $3 million in support of Ducks Unlimited’s Rescue the Duck Factory campaign. DU launched this program in 2008 to save high priority waterfowl breeding grounds in the Prairie Pothole Region.

“Because conserving wild places is an integral part of our mission to encourage more people to enjoy the outdoors, Remington Outdoor Foundation has teamed up with Ducks Unlimited in a three-year program, donating $250,000 a year to secure conservation easements from willing landowners to permanently protect critical grasslands and wetlands,” said Jim Moore, president of Remington Outdoor Foundation.

“Last year’s donation grew to more than a million dollars with the matching funds Ducks Unlimited was able to acquire as a result of our contribution. We expect similar results with this year’s program.”

DU’s Rescue the Duck Factory campaign was designed to save the highest-priority breeding grounds in the Prairie Pothole Region of North and South Dakota, an area called the Duck Factory by waterfowl biologists because nearly a third of North America’s waterfowl are produced there. The campaign’s method to achieve this goal is securing conservation easements from willing landowners by raising $40 million from individuals, foundations and corporate partners.

Since the campaign was launched, DU has purchased or optioned almost 102,000 acres of permanent easements in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

To learn more about Remington Outdoor Foundation’s work with partners, visit their website, Remington Arms Company, Inc.

Madison, NC –-(AmmoLand.com)- Few things are more challenging than hitting fast moving, high flying waterfowl. To meet this challenge, Remington is proud to introduce the fastest velocity, highest downrange pattern energies ever produced in the history of steel waterfowl loads; the revolutionary new HyperSonic Steel. To put it simply, waterfowl hunters now have the fastest, hardest-hitting, steel shot shell in the world, resulting in shorter leads to help hunters be more successful.

At the heart of the new HyperSonic Steel™ load is the patent pending Xelerator® Wad. The newly designed wad features a unique Ignition Chamber which allows higher velocity with safe pressures.

How does the Xelerator® Wad work?
The primer ignites a small portion of the powder charge captured in the “Ignition Chamber”, this captive charge accelerates the wad and payload forward until the remainder of the powder charge is ignited. The increased volume behind the wad allows for the remainder of the propellant to burn, driving the shot to 1700 fps without causing excessive pressure – all in just a fraction of a millisecond.

With the HyperSonic Steel producing velocities at 1700fps, the lead on flying ducks is shortened by 8-inches at 40 yards which gives the hunter a higher success rate and less crippling with fewer shots. Now waterfowl hunters have a load with the highest steel pattern energy ever produced; up to 16% greater energy than current steel high velocity loads, with longer-range lethality in 10 load choices.

“At 1700 fps HyperSonic Steel is the most innovative and exciting shotshell developed in decades. It will change the way that we hunt waterfowl” said Kevin Cross, Remington Research Engineer – Ammunition.

Features for the New HyperSonic Steel Waterfowl Loads

•	Patent Pending Xelerator Ignition Chamber Technology
Remington Outdoor Foundation

Madison, NC - -(AmmoLand.com)- Grant Gregory, chairman of the Remington Outdoor Foundation (ROF), announced Jan. 19 that ROF, the leading industry advocate, appointed business leader and outdoor enthusiast Jim Moore as the president of the Foundation.

Jim joins ROF after more than 20 years of senior leadership positions with major marketing companies such as Leo Burnett, FCB and McCann-Erickson. He has provided leadership for developing business and brands for Jeep, Cadillac, Compaq Computer, AlliedSignal, American Standard and McDonald’s.

Jim’s longtime interest in the outdoors began by supporting his son in the Boy Scouts when his son expressed a desire to learn how to handle a gun safely. This initially led to many rounds at the local sporting clays course, and they soon discovered the fields of Michigan and the fine pheasant hunting they offer.

Pheasant hunting continues to be a passion today with regular Michigan hunts and an annual trip to England for a week of driven birds. Jim’s love of the outdoors extends to being an active skier/snowboarder and bike rider. He also is an active conservationist who takes educational trips to study the remaining tigers in the jungles of Nepal and the Big 5 in the national parks of South Africa.

Jim has extended his love of the outdoors to success in the business world as he led the expansion of the Jeep brand worldwide by capitalizing on their outdoor/off-road credentials. Jim is highly experienced in start-ups and new ventures having established three new companies and led such brands as Jeep, Compaq and Cadillac into China, Russia and Eastern Europe.

In the nonprofit world, Jim helped to establish the Museum of Contemporary Art in Detroit as a founding board member. He also led the marketing and sales sponsorship efforts for the re-invigoration of the Meadow Brook Concours through developing a new direction and theme and collaborating with marketing partners.

In commenting about his appointment, Moore said: “Leading the Remington Outdoor Foundation gives me the opportunity to apply my brand building and marketing skills to grow the sport I love, and ensure that future generations will always have an opportunity to enjoy safe and ethical hunting and target shooting.”

Jim is a member of the Hunters Creek Hunt Club in Metamora, Mich. and the NRA and holds a competitive driving license.

Carl Brown, director of partnerships and programs, and Scott Pearl, program manager, will work with Moore to drive the success of ROF in forming partnerships and supporting other nonprofits and Industry leaders to ensure the growth of the outdoor, shooting and hunting experience for generations to come.

To accomplish this objective of expanding the outdoor experience today and in the future, ROF has established a mission of:

Remington Outdoor Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports hunting, shooting, outdoor sports and conservation through land preservation, access, education, training, safety, awareness, research and wildlife enhancement.

At the forefront of implementing the mission of the Remington Outdoor Foundation are instruction and safety, and conservation and environmentally minded programs, to ensure future generations will have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.
Tags: Remington Arms Company

Madison, NC –-(AmmoLand.com)- Guns and Shooting Online presented their 2009-2010 Rifle Ammunition of the Year Award to Remington Managed-Recoil centerfire ammunition.

According to Guns and Shooting Online editorial staff, “Remington is the company that has been the most committed to controlling recoil, and they continued to expand their Managed-Recoil line in 2009 with three more caliber introductions.”

Recognizing how shooters are affected by recoil regardless of skill level or body stature, Remington developed a line of performance-based, low-recoil ammunition in popular big-game cartridges. Remington’s Managed-Recoil ammunition delivers half the recoil of standard cartridges without sacrificing performance. And because Remington focused on the entire cartridge by combining select propellants and a specially-designed Core-Lokt® bullet, Managed-Recoil maintains optimum downrange energy. It also provides 2x expansion with more than 75 percent weight retention on shots inside of 50 yards and out to 200 yards.

With nearly the same point of aim as a standard cartridge at 100 yards, Remington’s Managed-Recoil ammunition is ideal for all hunters, allowing you to use an existing gun without readjusting the scope. Without the fear of recoil, shooters can practice longer and improve shot placement.

Remington’s Managed-Recoil centerfire ammunition is available in nine popular, big game calibers: 260 Remington, 7mm-08 Remington, 270 Win, 30-30 Win, 30-06 Sprg, 300 Win Mag, 308 Win, 7mm Remington Mag and 300 Remington Ultra Mag.

Learn more about our extensive family of Managed-Recoil centerfire and shotshell ammunition including Managed-Recoil Copper Solid™ Sabot Slugs, Managed-Recoil Slugger® Rifled Slugs, Managed-Recoil BuckHammer® Lead Slugs, Managed-Recoil Buckshot Loads and Managed-Recoil STS® Target Loads in 12 and 20-gauge at http://www.remington.com/products/ammunition/.

About Remington Arms Company, Inc.<br
