class="wp-caption-text">Kansas State Rifle Association

Kansas - -(AmmoLand.com)- Two amazing pheasant hunts for wild birds (this is real hunting) on some of the best private hunting land in the state of Kansas, to benefit Kris Kobach’s campaign for the office of Kansas Secretary of State.

As Secretary of State, Kris will secure Kansas elections against voter fraud and stop criminal organizations like ACORN from manipulating Kansas elections.

Here’s what the Kansas State Rifle Association had to say in endorsing Kris:

“The Kansas State Rifle Association is proud to be associated with Kris Kobach.

He is a lifelong hunter and sportsman and a leader in the fight to protect and defend the Second Amendment. Kris strongly supports the right to keep and bear arms for all lawful purposes.

As a constitutional scholar, law professor and attorney Kris will fight to protect the honesty of the election process in Kansas and is the best possible candidate for Secretary of State.”

Patricia A. Stoneking
President, Kansas State Rifle Association

WHAT: You can participate in just one, or both, pheasant hunts. Kris will be hunting along with you on these high-quality hunts. This is your chance to have a great time afield with Kansas’s next Secretary of State. Lunch will be provided, as well as “Kansans for Kobach” orange hunting caps. Prizes will also be awarded for best shot of the day and worst shot of the day. You are welcome to bring your own gun dog.

HOW MUCH: $250 for one hunt, $375 for both hunts. Proceeds go to the Kansans for Kobach campaign.

Hunt #1: November 21, 2009, Lenora, Kansas. This hunt is on some of the best pheasant hunting land in the state of Kansas. We will have more than 1,000 acres of excellent CRP and adjacent crops available for the hunt. This prime land will not be hunted on opening day this season, and it will be held back just for this event.

So this is your chance to have “two opening days” this year! Don’t miss it. The spring hatch on this land was exceptional. The hunt begins at 7:30 AM.

Hunt #2: December 12, 2009, Belleville, Kansas. This was the site of a tremendous hunt for Kris Kobach’s campaign in 2003. Because wild pheasant numbers will have decreased by December, we will add pen-raised birds in addition to the abundant wild birds to ensure a great hunt. The combination was spectacular in 2003-like bringing part of South Dakota to Kansas. The hunt begins at 7:45 A.M.

Make Your Reservation Now by calling Ben Davis at 316-210-2450. Ben will provide directions to the location of the hunts and can recommend hotels in the area if you wish to drive to the area the night before the hunt.

Paid for by Kansans for Kobach, Tom Arpke, Treasurer

About:
The Kansas State Rifle Association has one purpose. To promote and strive for the improvement and protection of the firearms and sport shooting industry and protection of second amendment principals by encouraging and stimulating well-qualified individual citizens to run for public office and to take a more active and effective part in governmental affairs.
Tags: FirearmsCoalition.org

Phoenix, AZ --(AmmoLand.com)- It’s a Republican sweep in Virginia. Bob McDonnell has the election locked up along with fellow Republicans winning the Lt. Governor and Attorney General offices. The Republican victory in Virginia was overwhelming, with the GOP netting a combined 60 percent of the vote over Democrats in the three races.

In New Jersey, an unpopular (and Brady Bunch-endorsed) Democrat lost to what passes for a conservative Republican in that part of the world.

Meanwhile in New York’s 23rd District, the Republican leadership had an opportunity to learn something about party discipline when their anointed candidate Dede Scozzafava, a genuinely liberal Republican, was pushed out of the race by an upstart conservative candidate who claimed Glenn Beck as his mentor. The Democrat appears to have won, but with the upstart Hoffman making a splash. The chin-stroking started immediately that the New York results are the harbinger of a gathering “civil war” within the Republican Party. Maybe.

The really good news is that this election may be the first green shoots of a renaissance of republican (lower-case R) politics. By a “republican renaissance” I mean that classical republican ideas like the rule of law, limited government with checks and balances, as laid out in the U.S. Constitution, may be gaining a new currency in the political marketplace.

It was Gerald Ford who accurately noted that, “A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you have.” A smaller government promises less, but it is also less of a threat to individual liberty. A small federal government is not something that will happen overnight – frankly I doubt that I’ll see it in my lifetime. Even the “cuts” of the Reagan Revolution were only modest decreases in the rate of growth. The key questions moving forward are whether the Republican Party can field candidates to satisfy the growing demand for limited government, and whether Democratic voters are willing to support candidates who will rein in government expansion, reversing the trend toward federal control. Few viable limited-government candidates have appeared from either party, but demand should eventually generate supply.

To make sure that yesterday’s election results become an ongoing trend in the right direction, GunVoters must get involved now. The first place to start is www.GunVoter.org. See what information is there for your state and what is missing and then start trying to fill the gaps. Get together with your club or state association’s political guy. Take him to lunch and ask questions. Find out who’s running, who deserves help, and whose balloon needs popping. Get involved with your local political party of choice so you can participate in selecting candidates from the ground floor. When you find answers, the next step is to go back to GunVoter.og and build the knowledgebase so others can be more effective.

Keep in mind that although federal elections are important, it’s in state legislatures and city councils that tomorrow’s senators and representatives are groomed. You can wield much more influence in those races and with those candidates than you can in federal campaigns.

As my brother Jeff likes to say, little politicians grow up to be big politicians – catch them while they’re small.

“The Belgian Corporal,” the story I chose as the prologue to the recently released compilation of Neal Knox’s writing, Neal Knox – The Gun Rights War, is a wrenching story of a Nazi atrocity in Belgium and a cautionary tale regarding the dangers of gun registration. The story was told to Dad by a Belgian-American corporal who was with him in the Texas National Guard. We released the story on the Internet (www.NealKnox.com) when the book came out and it has gained a gratifying amount of circulation.

While the praise has been overwhelming, there are some dissenting voices suggesting that the massacre in the story never happened – at least not in Belgium. We have no way of knowing for sure, though I continue to research into it. What we do know for certain is the impression that the story made on a young (just turned nineteen) Neal Knox. For him, the Belgian Corporal’s story rang true. He believed it in his bones and it changed his life.

If you haven’t ordered your copy of Neal Knox – The Gun Rights War, I hope you will. It’s raw history written as it happened by someone who was often a key participant. I can’t promise you’ll read a story that changes your life, but I’ll bet you’ll learn something. class="wp-caption-text">Buckeye Firearms Foundation

Ohio - -(AmmoLand.com)-Polls will be open across the state of Ohio and around the nation today, and once again, pro-gun voters will have a disproportionate impact on the election outcome here in the Buckeye state.

Although there are 11 million voters in Ohio, about 4 million are ineligible to vote, either by age or lack of registering. And out of the 7 million registered voters, precedent suggests that only a little over 2 million (30%) will bother to drag themselves to the polls in an off-year election.

There are somewhere north of 400,000 people in Ohio who are licensed to hunt and/ or carry a concealed handgun. When one considers that, in the 2000 Presidential election, nine of 10 Ohio sportsmen of voting age went to the polls (a full 27% of the vote!), one can begin to see how much of an influence gun voters can have on elections that swing by just a few percentage points.

About:
Buckeye Firearms Association is a grassroots political action committee dedicated to defending and advancing the right of Ohio citizens to own and use firearms for all legal activities.

Buckeye Firearms Association seeks to maximize your rights by endorsing and electing pro-gun candidates on the city, county, and state level, including mayors, sheriffs, legislators, and governor. We also work to defeat anti-gun legislation, pass pro-gun bills, and reform existing laws to benefit all Ohio citizens.

Unlike many anti-gun groups, we do not get our funding or support from wealthy activists or big corporations. We are a non-partisan, all-volunteer organization. Officers and supporters donate their time and skills to the pro-gun cause. Not a single dime from donors is spent on salaries or wasteful overhead. In fact, every penny is used to support political campaigns, influence public opinion, and advance gun rights around Ohio.
Tags: Virginia Citizens Defense League

Virginia – -(AmmoLand.com)- While doing some initial Rally setup, we learned that some anti- gunners had tried to pass some of their lies, er, literature out to a few stores and had been run off by mall management and security. The Innsbrook Shoppes manager, Sidney Gunst, made it clear that the only literature that would be handed out on his property was that offered by citizens carrying guns.

The rally was to protest Congressman Eric Cantor holding the “Republican Roundup” at a gun-free zone each year. That is especially irksome as Cantor is well aware that there are other nearby venues that are gun-friendly. Well before last year’s Roundup, several Republican gun owners even offered donations for Cantor (via Linwood Cobb) to move the event to a gun-friendly venue, but that offer was ignored.

The rally started with an orientation and distribution of a rally flyer with maps and a schedule of events.

After the orientation, most of the crowd, including 25 Executive members in green safety vests holding two-way radios, moved to the street that leads into the SnagAJob Pavilion, where the Roundup was to be held and which is owned by anti-gun Highwood Properties.

Members lined both sides of the street, holding up signs that read “Guns Save Lives,” “Vote Cantor Out,” “Cantor Abandoned Gun Owners,” “Ban My Gun, Lose My Vote” and so forth.

As attendees of the Roundup walked by the VCDL members, many accepted and wore VCDL’s “Guns Save Lives” sticker. That sea of orange stickers should also have gotten Congressman Cantor’s attention.

Many people honked their horns in support of VCDL and gave the “thumbs up” on their way into the Roundup. Dennis and I ran into one typical anti-gun coward, who didn’t say a word as his car stopped at a stop sign next to us. Instead as soon as he had driven about 50 feet past us, rolled down his window and yell back “guns don’t save lives!” and then sped off.

As promised, George Washington, was there to support us and did a great job in talking to gun owners and educating them on the Constitution and our rights. One person said that they had learned more from President Washington during the few minutes they spent speaking to the President, than they had learned in all their extensive schooling. Amen to that.

Ever resourceful member Ed Levine showed up with his vehicle plastered with round orange magnetic “Guns Save Lives” signs and even his black lab sported an orange bandana adorned with a “Gun Save Lives” button.

Jim Snyder’s wife brought their miniature pinscher, who was wearing a doggie-coat with “Guns Save Lives” stickers on it.

Just about the time that Linwood Cobb, who is the chairman of the Republican 7th District, started to speak at the Roundup a plane flew overhead trailing two large banners that said “Guns Save Lives” and “Cantor Sells Out.”

VCDL members broke out in loud applause and laughter at the sight!

The plane continued to circle the Roundup for for about 45 minutes with everyone fighting back laughter for quite a while. VCDL also had a hot-air balloon with “Guns Save Lives” on the sides, but it was too windy for it to launch. There are some great photos of the balloon, though, in some of the links later in this alert. (Don’t worry, you will get a chance to see the balloon upfront and personal in the future.)

We had a member inside the Roundup who was keeping me posted on what was going on. He estimated that there were about 500 people at the rally including staff and government agents, so our 325 was a very significant number.

He also let me hear Linwood Cobb’s comments to the Roundup, which due to the VCDL members lining the street and our airplane flying overhead, forced Lynwood to talk about why the event was being protested.

What was really funny was that Cobb said on stage that Eric Cantor was a strong supporter of the Second Amendment as he and Cantor were standing in a GUN-FREE ZONE surrounded by government agents with GUNS. That is just the opposite of what the Second Amendment is all about.

Cantor, Cobb and those who clapped at that statement completely missed the irony.

Cobb tries to blame everything on the SnagAJob Pavilion’s anti-gun policy. Mr. Cobb, private property owners can do as they like. It is you and Congressman Cantor that are intentionally choosing that venue when you have other choices. No, Eric Cantor and you are to blame for the policy in the end. VCDL respects private property rights and did not interfere in any way with access to the event. VCDL is disappointed in Highwoods anti-gun policy and simply wants Republicans to stop spending their publicly donated funds to support this anti- freedom business.

You can hear Cobb’s excuses in this video. Notice that Senator Cuccinelli wasn’t clapping when Linwood Cobb announced that the Roundup is going to be held at Innsbrook AGAIN next year (more on that comment later):

<object

He asked the poignant question, “why would ANYONE not support the Second Amendment?” and took the restrictions on the Second Amendment and applied them to the First Amendment to show how absurd they really are.

About:
Some Republicans still don’t understand why mainstream America is so upset with their Party.

Gun Owners of America

Washington, DC - -(AmmoLand.com)- Now that Sen. Arlen Specter has defected to the Democrat Party, many prominent Republicans are openly recruiting liberal Republicans to run against Specter.

And at the top of their list is Tom Ridge.

Ridge is the turncoat Republican whose vote was crucial in passing the semi-auto ban in 1994.

After having opposed a similar ban in 1991, then-Rep. Tom Ridge flip-flopped and teamed up with Charles Schumer (D-NY) to pass the semi-auto gun and magazine ban. The gun ban passed narrowly, 216 to 214, thanks to Tom Ridge.

Later, as Governor of Pennsylvania, Ridge signed one of the most restrictive gun control laws in the State’s history — the infamous Act 17 which registered and taxed long gun buyers and placed other restrictions on Keystone State gun owners.

As the head of the Department of Homeland Security, Tom Ridge opposed arming pilots. He asked, sarcastically, if pilots carry guns, then should we also arm railroad engineers and bus drivers? As DHS Director, Ridge should have led the charge to arm pilots and people in other positions that fell under the agency’s purview.

Instead, he just repeated the same tired old anti-gun line that we hear every time a state passes a concealed carry handgun law.

Guess who else opposed the armed pilots program? Pennsylvania’s “Benedict” Arlen Specter, who was one of only two Republican Senators to vote against the bill.

The last thing we need is another elitist in Congress who does not trust law-abiding citizens with firearms. And yet, wishy-washy Republican Senators like Utah’s Orrin Hatch and South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham are touting Ridge over Specter. In other words, let’s replace one turncoat with another.

There is a better option. His name is Pat Toomey, a Gun Owners of America “A” rated pro-gunner who served in the U.S. House of Representatives for three terms, before honoring a self-imposed term limit and retiring in 2004.

Those who are pushing anti-gunner Tom Ridge claim that Pat Toomey is unelectable because he’s “too conservative” for Pennsylvania.

But that’s what self-appointed experts said before Toomey got elected term after term in a largely Democrat district in the eastern part of Pennsylvania. And that’s what they said before he accrued a gigantic lead in the polls over a sitting Senator this year, forcing Specter to jump parties.

It was Pat Toomey who forced Specter to jump to the Democrat Party. Toomey — who was backed by Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund — was leading Specter in polls by an overwhelming margin.

That’s also what they said about Ronald Reagan — who was supposedly too conservative to win a national election. (By the way, Reagan also won Pennsylvania.)

Bottom line: We need to put these squishy politicians on alert. Their internal party politics is their business. But when party leaders start pushing noted gun banners — using the money contributed by millions of gun owners around the country — we’re not going to remain silent.

Texas Senator John Cornyn is the head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Michael Steele heads the Republican National Committee. The decision to support an anti-gunner over a defender of the Second Amendment rests largely in their hands.

ACTION: Please urge Senator John Cornyn and Chairman Michael Steele not to interfere in Pennsylvania’s primary. There is already a pro-gun, electable conservative running in the primary who deserves their support.

You can contact NRSC’s Sen. Cornyn at info@nrsc.org or by phone at (202) 675-6000.

You can contact RNC Chairman Michael Steele at chairman@gop.com or by phone at (202) 863-8700.

—– Pre-written letter —–

Dear Senator Cornyn / Chairman Steele:

Please don’t cave in to pressure to support anti-gun candidate Tom Ridge over pro-gunner Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania’s Republican primary.

When in Congress, Ridge provided crucial support to pass the Clinton semi-auto gun ban. As Governor of Pennsylvania, Ridge signed one of the most restrictive gun laws in the State’s history. And as head of the Department of Homeland Security, Ridge opposed the successful congressional effort to arm commercial airline pilots.

The last thing we need is another Senator who does not trust “We the People” with firearms.

Pat Toomey served three terms in the House before honoring a self-imposed term limit and retiring. Rep. Toomey was “A” rated by Gun Owners of America, and stood firm on conservative principles even though he was supposedly “too conservative” for his district.

I urge you not to interfere in this race on behalf of an anti-gun candidate.

****************************

What’s Your Current GOA Status?

Obviously, we now face years of invigorated attacks on our gun rights. Shutting down gun shows, prohibitions on specific calibers, another semi-auto ban, and the anti-gun extremists’ Holy Grail of mandatory federal licensing and registration of all gun owners — these are just some of the horrors that we already know we’ll have to defeat head-on. Meanwhile, we’ll take every opportunity to go on offense and advance the Second Amendment.

It can’t be done without every single voice being counted. That’s why we are asking you to consider making the commitment of becoming a Gun Owners of America Life Member. By doing so, you put the politicians on notice that neither you nor GOA is going away — that no matter who’s in the White House, there is always going to be a solid wall of resistance.

Now is a perfect time to become a Life Member. And if you aren’t a GOA member at all, isn’t it time you became one?

Please go to http://gunowners.org/ordergoamem.htm to upgrade your participation in GOA.

Gun Owners of America<br
