Coraopolis, Pa --(Ammoland.com)- The Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS), is proud to join the nation’s dedicated and conservation-minded hunters and fishermen as they prepare to celebrate the 39th anniversary of “National Hunting and Fishing Day” on Saturday, September 24, 2011.

“What began as an idea in a small Pennsylvania gun shop a few hours east of our headquarters here in Coraopolis, PA has become one of the most significant events on the American sportsmen’s calendar. The Ruffed Grouse Society’s Board of Directors, its loyal staff, wildlife biologists, regional directors and dedicated volunteers are once again proud to support National Hunting and Fishing Day. RGS is pleased with recent studies that show that the vast majority of Americans support our sport-hunting tradition,” said RGS President and CEO Mike Zagata.

“As RGS prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in October, we congratulate those who have diligently kept alive the message of our hunting and fishing traditions and heritage during these past 39 years. The role sportsmen and sportswomen have played, and continue to play, in the conservation movement must be recognized by hunters and non-hunters alike as the habitat management efforts they continue to fund benefit all wildlife,” Zagata continued.
