<p>By casting your votes over the last month, Sportsman Channel viewers have narrowed the field to just five finalists in the following categories: Best Hunt Show, Best Shoot Show, Best Fish Show, Best Combination (hunting and fishing) Show and Best Show Host(s).</p>
<p>Today marks the beginning of a fresh new round of voting. You are encouraged to log on to www.votesportsman.com to cast your ballot, regardless of whether you voted in the first round or not.  Winners in all categories will be based exclusively on the opinions and the votes of VIEWERS! Voting ends December 14 with finalists announced thereafter.</p>

<li>Best Combo Show: Alan Warren Outdoors, Backstage &amp; Backroads with Daniel Lee Martin, G3 Sportsman, HuntFishCook, Midwest Outdoors</li>
<li>Best Show Host(s): Alan Warren with Alan Warren Outdoors, Chris Brackett with Arrow Affliction, Fred Eichler with Predator Nation, Keith Warren with Best of Keith Warren’s Hunting Adventures, Les Johnson with Predator Quest</li>

<p>In addition to these five categories, Sportsman Channel has added four new award categories designed to celebrate the exciting video imagery shown on the channel every day:</p>

<p><strong>USCCA -</strong> -(AmmoLand.com)- I tell ya, the last few days have been absolutely unbelievable for Armed American Radio. In the last 4 days, we have added new cities, Troy Alabama, Aberdeen Washington, Little Rock Arkansas, a commitment from Huntsville Alabama as soon as the station goes live on the air, and two other cities that I simply can not mention just yet but it&#8217;s ALL good! We also have interest in Detroit and the Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St Paul Minnesota. And guess what? AAR goes to 3 full hours this Sunday, November 22nd! You asked for it and you got it!</p>
<p>In addition to the continued growth of the broadcast, I had the privilege of being joined today in the AAR studio in Atlanta for a live, one on one interview with one of the giants of conservative talk radio, FOX news contributor and fellow Salem Radio Network nationally syndicated host, Mike Gallagher. Mike is in Atlanta through Saturday fighting &#8220;Obamacare&#8221; being shoved down our throats by the Socialist in Chief and was kind enough to join me for a segment that will air on the 29th. It was great to talk with him and you will definitely want to hear what he has to say about Armed American Radio!</p>
<p>You will also notice a great change to the Armed American Radio website. We have added some great new HD video content to the home page. The videos will give you information on past shows, upcoming guests and some plain old great information as it develops in real time. This new media rich content is just the beginning and I can promise you it will only get better and better with time. Make sure to head over to www.armedamericanradio.org to check out the new content and to stay 100% up to the minute with one of the hottest and fastest growing radio shows in America!</p>
<p>Coming up this week, The Master himself, Massad Ayoob makes another guest appearance to discuss anything I can toss his way for the full hour that I have his attention. In addition, David Burnette, The Midwest Regional Director of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus will be with me for the entire second hour to discuss this very hot button topic as well as a couple of other things he has up his sleeve. Great stuff.</p>
<p>Also, The Mad Ogre, George Hill will be with me for the entire show to chime in on the discussion as only he can and since I had the opportunity to meet with George a couple of weeks ago in Utah, George and I will be talking about one of the places we visited during my trip. During the third hour, George and I will be discussing the previous two hours and giving our thoughts, taking calls and reading listener comments live.</p>

<p><strong>Philadelphia, PA -</strong>-(AmmoLand.com)- Wow, it is November already! Thanksgiving is next week, and deer seasons are running strong in almost every state.</p>
<p>The whitetail rut is on fire, so get out there now. I have heard &#8211; and I have written about it – that this may be the best year ever to tag a trophy buck.</p>

A: No-compromise/no sacred cows gun rights activism mixed with social commentary, argument, and occasional twisted humor.</em></p>

A: The blog pays nothing&#8211;well, that&#8217;s not quite true&#8211;I think I make a couple hundred bucks a year off of Google ads that never seem to relate to the subject matter. A: To point to hypocrisies and injustices, and to encourage gun owners to adopt creative ways of responding to them. And also to attract/nurture like minds.</em></p>

A: I do this primarily for me.</em></p>
<p><em>Q: What was the best thing you did on your blog that go the most reaction from your readers?<br />
A: I don&#8217;t consider successes based on reader reactions. I&#8217;m happy to help nudge the dialog in the direction of what some would call a more &#8220;radical&#8221; insistence on having our rights recognized. </em></p>
<p><em>Q: What was the worst thing you did on your blog that go the most reaction from your readers?<br />
A: I just don&#8217;t think in terms of bests and worsts. There will always be those who don&#8217;t like what I do or the way I do things.  I truly don&#8217;t let it bother me.</em></p>
<p><em>Q: Obviously since we are featuring you your blog is Pro gun?  What do you think the outlook is for the future of gun rights in America?<br />
A: Without a major social upheaval, which history shows us can happen to any people at any time, I believe we&#8217;re looking at some expansion on the status quo, with continued federal, state and local efforts to advance &#8220;reasonable restrictions.&#8221;  In other words, I don&#8217;t believe any group in power voluntarily cedes it without some form of &#8220;or else&#8221; disincentive. I fear all that needs happen for an infringement to stand is for the Supreme Court to refuse to hear a challenge and for gun owners to accept it. </em></p>
<p><em>Q: What is your favorite firearm and why?<br />
A: I guess my M1 Garand. It&#8217;s fun, plus I appreciate its history and  ingenious design, and have never once hurt my thumb. </em></p>
<p><em>Q: What hunting or shooting sports hobbies do you have?<br />
A: When I get time, I enjoy introducing new people to shooting more than any other aspect of it.</em></p>
<p><em>Q: Of the topics you cover what do you enjoy writing about the most?<br />
A: I always get a kick out of letting rights abusers know what I think of them.  And it&#8217;s fun to expose celebrity hypocrites and ignorant propagandists masquerading as journalists.</em></p>
<p><em>Q: What things would you like to do or expand in your blog to in the future?<br />
A: The blog itself will probably stay as is for a while.  I&#8217;ve got a domain name for it but it&#8217;s still on blogspot, and I suppose I could jazz up the template, but I&#8217;m really more into substance than appearance and it&#8217;s just not a big enough priority for me, especially with the focus on writing daily Gun Rights Examiner columns. </em></p>
<p><em>Q: What would you like to say to those that are anti gun or maybe just unsure of the purpose of guns in our society today?<br />
A: I don&#8217;t try to change minds. There are plenty out there trying to fill that niche, and that&#8217;s not for me. I will encourage and welcome those with open minds. If I can get them to dip their toe in the pool, then maybe wade in and splash around, some will venture into deeper waters.  But my function is to say what&#8217;s on my mind. If it resonates with some, fine. If it doesn&#8217;t, I&#8217;m not going to let them impede my efforts.</em></p>
<p><em>Q: What parting remarks or comments you would like to make or promote?<br />
A: I&#8217;d like to ask those who regularly read my stuff, those who think they get value from it. to help me promote it by sharing links.  The Examiner column in particular has proven to be quite an interesting adventure.  I started out with a local column just over a year ago and it has now expanded to a national column with other Gun Rights Examiners in 16 cities. That has potential to reach an even wider audience, but we can&#8217;t do it alone&#8211;we hope our readers will share links and an intro paragraph with their friends in emails, on blogs, forums, etc (but please don&#8217;t republish the entire column or people won&#8217;t visit our pages.) And don&#8217;t forget to check out Guns Magazine every month.</em></p>

<em>The 2009 seasons are beginning to heat up. Across the region big bucks are starting to fall. </em></p>

<p><strong>Colchester, VT -</strong>-(AmmoLand.com)- The biggest-bodied deer we have heard of to date was taken below the Forks near Bingham, Maine and tipped the scales at 279 pounds. Bob Howe, the owner of Pine Grove Lodge in Bingham, knows the deer population in that area better than anyone.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;It is funny,&#8221; said Howe. &#8220;It snowed this weekend and we heard a number of hunters say how many deer there are in the area. On dry ground it is harder to see the sign, but when the snow comes it is a blank page everybody can read.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Howes&#8217; hunters had a few strong days last week, tagging a handful of good bucks; the largest being a 239-pound 8-pointer with a tall rack.</p>
<p>Further to the south in New Hampshire, Roscoe Blaisdell, the president of the New Hampshire Antler and Skull Trophy Club, capitalized on the state&#8217;s early blackpowder season with a massive 10-pointer that boasts 2 stickers.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;The blood trail was good at first but petered out after 200 yards,&#8221; said Blaisdell. &#8220;I searched the rest of the day with no luck. I went back in the morning and crawled along the ground finding specks of blood leading down to a pond. I noticed a brown rock near the other shore that didn&#8217;t look right and checked it out. It was him.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

If his next project is mounting a scope, you can put the items you bought for that project into the Bill Jones folder, but label this cart &#8220;Scope mount on Rem. 700, .243 cal&#8221;. Thus keeping all of Bill Jones projects together. Another really great feature of this system is that you can write yourself notes on the project you&#8217;re working on and save them for future reference. A fantastic way to keep track of your various jobs and projects.</p>
<p>Because of the complete flexibility of the new system, you can literally set it up any way you like. By the kind of project (rebarrel .45); by the name of the customer (Bill Jones); by the day date, or month date (October 2009); by the items you&#8217;ve ordered (Leupold Rings/Bases); etc., etc., etc. It doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;re left brained or right brained, since you&#8217;re doing the labeling and you&#8217;ve put the carts into the folders, they are going to be where you think they should be. You just don&#8217;t have to conform to any body else&#8217;s ideas on filing!</p>

<p><strong>New Berlin, WI –</strong>-(AmmoLand.com)-  Sportsman Channel, the premiere all hunting, shooting and fishing network, announced an agreement today with Comcast to broaden distribution of the Sportsman Channel to Comcast’s Digital Preferred service in several Comcast markets.</p>
<p>The new agreement will bring Sportsman’s high-quality hunting, shooting and fishing shows to Comcast Digital Preferred customers in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota; Savannah, Georgia; Tucson, Arizona; and Albuquerque, Las Cruces, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.</p>

<p>We have some exciting news concerning Media Day 2010 that you surely do not want to miss.  By registering and attending Media Day at the Range you will also have an opportunity to win a Blaser Rifle outfitted with a Zeiss Victory Scope valued at more than $4,000.</p>

<p>Each year, Drury TV Producers from all over the country gather for meetings and an annual awards banquet. Last year, Mossy Oak was honored to participate in the banquet and present the Mossy Oak Passion Award to Steve &#8220;Coon Dog&#8221; Coon. Continuing the tradition this year, Mossy Oak recognized John Frank.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;The Passion Award is given to an individual that exhibits passion for the outdoors, who always works to their fullest capacity and with great excitement, and strives unselfishly to be the best at what they do,&#8221; said Ben Maki, Vice President of Marketing for Mossy Oak. &#8220;It&#8217;s not about taking trophy animals and having a successful hunt every time they step in the field or get behind the camera. <p>Frank is from Richland, Iowa where he owns his own flooring company. He has two children. Frank&#8217;s hobbies include photography, videography and Harley Davidsons. He enjoys hunting caribou, turkey and whitetail.</p>
<blockquote><p>According to Frank, &#8220;Hunting with my grandfather from age 12 provided the beginning of my hunting interests. My love for the sport has branched from well-trained hunting dogs flushing ringnecks to the gobble of a mature tom on a cool spring morning. In the last decade, my hunting sights have evolved further to include the elusive P&amp;Y class whitetail deer. Photographing buck in velvet combined with shed antler hunting helps me to pattern mature bucks. In the future, I&#8217;d like to harvest an elk with a bow.</p>
<p>&#8220;Recently, my son started hunting and I love to film him learning to hunt and discovering all the outdoors has to offer,&#8221; he added.</p></blockquote>

<p><strong>HARRISBURG, PA -</strong>-(AmmoLand.com)-Pennsylvania Game Commission Wildlife Conservation Officers (WCOs), Land Management Group Supervisors (LMGSs) and foresters regularly observe wildlife in their districts.  With the hunting and trapping seasons just around the corner, the Game Commission now is sharing those observations – through its website – with those who enjoy Penn’s Woods.</p>
<p>To view these field forecasts offered by Game Commission officers, go to the agency’s website (www.pgc.state.pa.us), and click on the “Field Officer Forecasts,” select the region of interest in the map, and then choose the WCO district of interest from the map.  For LMGS or forester reports, select the link to the LMGS Group or forester link of interest within that region.</p>
<blockquote><p>“Our field officers and foresters provide wildlife forecasts for small game, furbearers, wild turkey, bear and deer within their respective districts,” said Carl G. Roe, Game Commission executive director.  “These forecasts are based on sightings field officers have had in the months leading up to the 2009-10 seasons, and some offer comparisons to previous wildlife forecasts. Some WCOs and LMGSs include anecdotal information, as well as hunting and trapping leads in their districts.</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>“The Game Commission offers this information to hunters and trappers to help them in making plans for the upcoming seasons. Many WCO, LMGS and forester reports offer information on where to hunt or trap within their districts, as well as guidance on where to get more information, particularly for trapping certain furbearers, such as beaver and coyotes.”</p></blockquote>
<p>Roe noted the Game Commission divides the state’s 67 counties into six regions, and then each region is divided into WCO districts comprised of about 300 square miles each.  There are 136 WCO districts statewide.  Each of the 29 LMGS groups is comprised of a number of counties or portions of counties within each region, and seeks to equally distribute the amount of State Game Lands and public access lands within the region.  The number of foresters ranges per region, from four to nine.</p>

A: I&#8217;m just another normal person who might be your neighbor, or the guy in line behind you at the store. I love my family and my country. If I didn&#8217;t, why would I be willing to defend them?</em></p>
<p><em>Q: What was the best thing you did on your blog that go the most reaction from your readers?</em><em> A: Deconstructing the lies, half truths and anti-gun propaganda often brings the biggest reactions (in hits, links and comments), I got 10K hits a week on such as: <a title="AmmoLand Supports Ride Fast &amp; Shoot Straight" href="http://ridenshoot.blogspot.com/2008/11/guns-scare-journalists.html" target="_blank">Guns scare journalists</a> or expressing my sometimes controversial views: <a title="AmmoLand Supports Ride Fast &amp; Shoot Straight" href="http://ridenshoot.blogspot.com/2008/12/superiority-of-american-gun-culture_03.html" target="_blank">The Superiority of the American Gun Culture</a><br />
but what I enjoy most is when I am able to reach someone who is either negative on guns or sitting on the fence. </em></p>
<p><em>At a &#8220;Fun Shoot&#8221; last year, as an instructor, I introduced a good dozen people to shooting for the first time. The youngest was about 16 and the oldest about about 70! They had a great time and profusely thanked me. It was pretty cool (and really exhausting, but worth it).</em></p>
<p><em>I noticed how many new shooters commented on how nice I was. That is because of the propaganda machine I&#8217;m working against. Portraying gunny&#8217;s as scary, mean people.</em></p>
<p><em>Q: What was the worst thing you did on your blog that go the most reaction from your readers?</em><em> A: Oddly, the worse thing was probably the blog itself. Some enemies (in the HOA, nothing to do with the blog) discovered my blog and decided to use it against me. A: Improving. The Heller case was key, the next ones are even more important. I think (and hope) the American people are waking up to the nanny state agenda. Gun rights people have been fighting the leviathan for decades and the gun banners can&#8217;t get away with it without at least everyone knowing about it. As people notice the government is trying to control every little things in their lives, they&#8217;re getting more and more active about.</em></p>

A:That&#8217;s a hard question, like asking me what my favorite tool is. </em></p>

A: Victories! New shooters, expanded gun rights, guns, new technology and leprechauns. OK, I lied about one of them.</em></p>

A: Get some paying advertisers, move off blogspot and stay current in the expanding communications universe. I mentioned I&#8217;m on Twitter, I see no use for Facebook but I am paying attention to new tech.</em></p>
<p><em>Q: What would you like to say to those that are anti gun or maybe just unsure of the purpose of guns in our society today?<br />
A: Guns are not icons of evil, they are inanimate and take ALL direction from the human that is holding it. Blaming the tool for the actions of the person is childish. If your anti-gun, or just unsure of their role, you should learn about guns. Learn to shoot (or at least try it) to start. You&#8217;ll probably find that it&#8217;s fun. Big fun.</em></p>

In the oh-so-uber-liberal San Francisco Bay Area, being a gunny can be a real liability. People call the police on you without honest reasons, I&#8217;ve had co-workers try to smear me by rumor and malicious hazing. I cannot afford to jeopardize my career possibilities any more than I already have. It&#8217;s bigotry, plain and simple. Hell, it&#8217;s probably illegal, but there it is.<br />

<em>Hunting Communications a Major Focus of Justices&#8217; Questions.<br />

<p><strong>WASHINGTON, D.C. -</strong>-(AmmoLand.com)- Hunting communications were a central focus of the United States Supreme Court on Tuesday as the Justices heard arguments in the case U.S. v. Stevens, 08-769.</p>
<p>At issue in the case is a 1999 federal law that makes it a crime to create, sell or possess videos and other depictions of cruelty to animals. The case arose over the conviction of a Virginia man, Robert Stevens, who received a three-year prison sentence from a Western Pennsylvania court for selling videos that included scenes of hunting with dogs. The Third Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the conviction, stating it was in violation of Steven&#8217;s First Amendment rights.</p>
<p>In addition to working with the Washington, D.C., Jones Day Law Firm to file an amicus curiae brief on behalf of its members, the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA), headquartered in Johnstown, Pa., coordinated a larger group of amici from a wide range of constituencies, including numerous large organizations and more than 600 individual journalists, outdoor industry professionals and sportsmen.</p>
<p>POMA Executive Director Laurie Lee Dovey was in the courtroom to hear the arguments.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;The Justices were highly engaged,&#8221; Dovey said. &#8220;Clearly, their queries were focused on testing the limits of the First Amendment. The questions were direct and at times extreme.</p>
<p>&#8220;Patricia Millett, the plaintiff&#8217;s attorney, represented Mr. Stevens, the hunting and fishing industry and traditional outdoor sports journalists at the highest level,&#8221; Dovey added. &#8220;Patricia understands how the statue could criminalize the communication and promotion of legal hunting and fishing activities. She directly argued the overreach and chilling effects of the existing statute.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Testing the wide net cast by the language of the law, hunting-related questions were debated. Deputy Solicitor General Neal Katyal often stated hunting imagery did not fall within the parameters of the statute. Justice Antonin Scalia seemed to disagree. Scalia concentrated on the language in the statute that says, &#8220;&#8230; a visual or auditory depiction &#8230; in which a living animal is intentionally maimed, mutilated, tortured, wounded, or killed.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Kill&#8221; has one meaning, which is kill,&#8221; Scalia told Katyal, plainly indicating concerns about the legal actions of hunters. Katyal responded with a statement citing cruel killing versus hunting. Scalia countered with a question about an accidental low shot on an animal by a hunter, which he said was completely legal. Justice John Paul Stevens also asked about bow-and-arrow hunting or hunting with knives. Katyal backpedaled, saying, &#8220;So, there may be certain hunting examples that fall within it (the law).</p>
<p>Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg looked at another aspect of the law, the separation of the filming of a criminal act and participation by a photographer in a criminal act. The abuse of the dog and the filming of the act are different, she said. The abuse would go on with or without the photographer. The comparison being made was to image-makers in child pornography cases &#8211; where the photographer is an actual participant in the criminal act.</p>
<p>In response to questions by Justice Stephen Bryer about Congress simply writing a statute that actually aims at the &#8220;frightful things they were trying to prohibit,&#8221; Millett agreed Congress must use a scalpel, not a buzz saw, when crafting statutes that restrict free speech.</p>
<p>Justice Samuel Alito posed the most difficult hypothetical of the day to Millett. He asked if the First Amendment would cover &#8220;a human sacrifice channel&#8221;. The discomfort in the courtroom was palpable.</p>
<p>Taking a few moments to collect her thoughts, obviously taken aback by the extreme nature of the Justice&#8217;s example, Millett responded.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t want to watch this channel, and people should fight with their wallets and their votes and not support these things,&#8221; she said. &#8220;But, under the First Amendment, if the only rationale Congress is giving is we are here to shield your eyes for you, we will make this censorial decision, it has got to find some basis to think that was never freedom of speech under the First Amendment, in the way that obscenity was. You don&#8217;t get to make it up as you go along. We are interpreting a constitution.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>The United States Humane Society, which pushed the original prosecution of Robert Stevens, claimed this case was and is about animal cruelty. POMA, National Rifle Association, Safari Club International, National Media Coalition, American Society of Media Photographers, National Press Photographer&#8217;s Association and dozens of other groups, which filed amicus curiae briefs in the case, strongly disagreed. They defined U.S. v. Stevens as a First Amendment case that could have potentially devastating consequences on journalists and Americans&#8217; right to information.</p>
<p>A decision could come sometime after the first of the year, but the Court&#8217;s final deadline is July 1, 2010</p>

<blockquote><p><em>The Statute &#8211; 18 U.S.C. § 48</em></p>
<p><em>(a) Creation, Sale, or Possession.- Whoever knowingly creates, sells, or possesses a depiction of animal cruelty with the intention of placing that depiction in interstate or foreign commerce for commercial gain, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.<br />
(b) Exception.- Subsection (a) does not apply to any depiction that has serious religious, political, scientific, educational, journalistic, historical, or artistic value.<br />
(c) Definitions.- In this section-<br />
(1) the term &#8220;depiction of animal cruelty&#8221; means any visual or auditory depiction, including any photograph, motion-picture film, video recording, electronic image, or sound recording of conduct in which a living animal is intentionally maimed, mutilated, tortured, wounded, or killed, if such conduct is illegal under Federal law or the law of the State in which the creation, sale, or possession takes place, regardless of whether the maiming, mutilation, torture, wounding, or killing took place in the State; and<br />
(2) the term &#8220;State&#8221; means each of the several States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and any other commonwealth, territory, or possession of the United States.</em></p></blockquote>

<p><strong>Waco, TX -</strong>-(AmmoLand.com)- Sammy Kershaw and Whitetails Unlimited are teaming up to present the Concert for Conservation at the Hog Creek Icehouse, November 28 near Waco.</p>
<p>This first-of-its-kind event will benefit conservation projects.</p>

<p>The concert venue is the Hog Creek Icehouse, 170 Branson Trail (Off Hwy 6) in Speegleville, Texas (just outside of Waco). Opening the concert are Bo Phillips and Randy Hass, who will go on stage at 5:00 p.m., with Kershaw taking the stage at 9:00 p.m.</p>
<p>General admission tickets are $20.00, with reserved seating tickets in front of the stage priced at $30.00. A $50.00 ticket will get you into the VIP balcony, with bar and snacks.</p>
