COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --(Ammoland.com)- Kevin Neuendorf has been named the Director of Media & Public Relations for USA Shooting and will oversee all public relations activities for the National Governing Body (NGB).

He’ll be assisted by Katie Yergensen, a USA Shooting staff member since 2010.

USA Shooting was chartered by the U.S. Olympic Committee as the NGB for the sport of shooting in April 1995 and oversees Paralympic shooting programs in the United States as of 2008.

Bolstered by a six-medal performance in 2008 at the Beijing Olympic Games, USA Shooting enters 2012 looking to equal or better those results when the 2012 Olympic Games get underway in London in July. Based on performances in 2011 that included 40 appearances and 24 medals in World Cup finals, the potential of the USA Shooting Team has been recognized.

“The ability to assist USA Shooting with their communications needs, to work alongside a great group of athletes and staff and the fortune to return to the Olympic Movement during an Olympic year, was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” said Neuendorf.

“The shooting sports have been a part of my life since childhood and I’m anxious to further my knowledge of the industry and to expand the outreach and impact that USA Shooting can have among shooting enthusiasts.”

Neuendorf spent nearly 10 years as communications manager for the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) before leaving in late 2010 to become the Communications Director for the World Series of Boxing (WSB) Americas. Neuendorf assisted in the communications strategy for the newly-developed professional sports organization and helped broaden the impact of the new league and its four U.S. based franchises.

While at the USOC, he helped manage media operations for Team USA at select events including five Olympic Games, two Paralympic Games, two Pan American Games and two World University Games. He also helped coordinate five Olympic Media Summits, an intensive three-day media session for 100 Olympic hopefuls. His involvement at the USOC also centered on working with the sport National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to secure exposure for the USOC, its member organizations and America’s athletes.

From 1997 to 2001, Neuendorf was the manager of media and public relations for USA Boxing, the NGB of Olympic-style boxing in the U.S.

Neuendorf is a 1997 graduate of the University of Idaho where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations. While at Idaho, he also worked four years in the university’s sports information department. He and his wife, Tina, reside in Colorado Springs with their children Hayley, Kyle and Carter.
