title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- The Condor 28-Gauge is the newest addition to Stoeger’s lineup of Condor Over/Under shotguns.

The 28-gauge cartridge, which was introduced back in 1903, is recognized and respected as one of shotgunning’s most efficient loads that’s effective on upland game and clay targets alike.

In recent years this sub-gauge has become increasingly popular with upland hunters who appreciate lightweight, low-recoil and fast handling characteristics in a shotgun. Stoeger has met those needs with all the right attributes in the new Condor 28-gauge.

The ultra-reliable box-lock, break-action is at the heart of the Condor 28-gauge, featuring an all-steel jeweled mono-block and extractors. A single trigger facilitates quick shooting and the tang-mounted automatic safety is conveniently located, making the Condor 28 safe and easy to operate. When the cover is close the Condor 28-gauge gives shooters an easy-to-view sighting plain for quick target acquisition.

A new more slender pistol grip and fore-end allows the Condor 28 to feel and point like a dream and provides a positive grip for total control. Weighing in at just 6 pounds, this is an over/under that’s quick and easy to handle.

“Many shooters still consider the 28-gauge, ‘the little cartridge that could,’” said Stephen McKelvain, Benelli USA’s VP Marketing & Communications. “As a light, yet low recoiling shotgun for both the beginner and expert alike, the Condor 28-gauge makes a big impact at small-bore skeet, and it’s deadly on upland birds.”

SPECIFICATIONS:

Gauge: 28-Gauge

Barrel Length: 24” & 26”

Chokes: IC, M

Sights: Brass Bead Front Sight Metal

Finish: Blued Receiver & Barrels

Stock Material: A-Grade Walnut

Average Weight: 6 lbs.

Overall Length: 40” & 42”

Length of Pull: 14.5”

Drop at heel: 2.5”

Drop at Comb: 1.5”

MSRP: $449

For the latest news and product information visit www.stoegerindustries.com
Tags: Ammoland.com)- A completely new lightweight shotgun launches a new era for Franchi’s innovative light, fast and reliable auto-loading shotguns.

The Affinity is a versatile Inertia Driven, semiautomatic shotgun that’s right at home in every type of shooting situation, whether it’s hunting birds or busting clay targets.

When you pick up the new slim and distinctive Affinity you will understand the meaning of “feels right.”

Available in both 12- and 20-gauge, the Affinity receiver is made of a lightweight, durable aluminum alloy that’s strengthened with steel inserts that ensure a solid steel-to-steel lock-up. As a result, the 12-gauge Affinity weighs 6.4 pounds and the 20-gauge is just 5.6 pounds. This lively auto-loader responds to the explosive flush of a quail covey as quickly as it swings with a flock of teal zipping past the decoys.

The 12-gauge Affinity handles 1⅛-ounce target loads up to the heaviest 3-inch Magnums and the

20-gauge Affinity digests ⅞–ounce loads (1275 FPS) up to 3-inch Magnums. Because they are Inertia Driven® the new Affinity shotguns have the feel of smaller gauge guns without compromising the proper punch expected of the actual gauge. This is possible because the recoil spring encircles the magazine tube located forward of the receiver, which keeps recoil in line with the shooter and helps reduce muzzle climb. Without relying on gas valves or heavy pistons positioned under the fore-end to cycle shells the Affinity offers a slim attractive fore-end profile.

The Affinity’s durable synthetic stock is impervious to all elements of weather, as well as gun solvents and lubricants. The stock is drop and cast adjustable with a shim-kit system. Recoil is tamed with a newly designed recoil pad that is unique in both form and function, allowing deep compression that spreads recoil energy over a wider area of the shooter’s shoulder. Whether it’s duck marshes, grouse woods or the pheasant plains and partridge prairies there’s a stock that’s perfectly suited for the job. Franchi has total confidence in their shotgun products and stands firmly behind every Affinity with the industry-leading 7-Year Warranty.

“Light, balanced, refined—however you define feel, the Affinity feels right,” said Stephen McKelvain, Benelli USA’s VP of Marketing & Communications. “This is a gun that embodies the right balance and weight. It also exhibits an intuitiveness that allows you to point it like it’s second nature.”

SPECIFICATIONS:

Gauge: 12- & 20-Gauge

Barrel Length: 26” & 28”

Chokes: IC, M, F

Sights: Red fiber optic bar

Finish: Black synthetic, Realtree Max-4 & Realtree APG

Stock Material: Synthetic

Average Weight: 12-gauge – 6.4 lbs., 20-gauge – 5.6 lbs.

Overall Length: 47.25” and 49.25”

Length of Pull: 14.25”

Drop at heel: Adjustable from 2” to 2.5” in 4 increments

Drop at Comb: 1.5” (Adjustable with shim kit)

MSRP: $849 – $949

For the latest news and product information visit www.franchiusa.com
Tags: Ammoland.com)- Greatness stands the test of time and spans the ages. One such greatness was the innovation of the long-recoil autoloader, which even by today’s standards, remains the choice of many discerning wingshooters, especially Franchi’s 48 AL.

The barrel of the 48 AL recoils upon firing in conjunction with the bolt. As pressure drops, the barrel unlocks from the bolt and returns forward under spring pressure.

The bolt follows, picking up a fresh shell on the way, allowing another shot to be fired instantly. Few shotguns embody the combination of lightning-fast handling qualities and superior “feel” as does Franchi’s AL 48 20-gauge autoloader.

Now comes the Franchi 48 AL Deluxe Prince-of-Wales version, which represents the ultimate refinement of long-recoil auto-loaders. This 48 AL model features a featherweight, yet durable, aluminum receiver that is complimented by the elegance of a Prince-of-Wales style pistol grip. Combining maximum style and tradition with minimum weight, you can fire up to five fast shots from a gun that weights just 5.6 pounds.

The Deluxe grade has figured select walnut polished metal surfaces and a gold trigger. The barrel is chrome-lined, proofed for steel shot and fitted with screw-in choke tubes in IC, M and F constrictions. Its most innovative and distinguishing feature is a one-piece receiver and buttstock, made of steel-reinforced polymer.

The M2, considered the workhorse of the Benelli line, features the Inertia Driven operating system, which means that it runs clean; the gun blows all of the gas and residue —created by shotshell discharge— out the barrel. The debris does not blow back into the operating system, as it does with many gas-piston systems.

The M4, the pride of the Benelli tactical lineup and gun of choice for the US Marine Core, features the Auto Regulating Gas Operated (ARGO) system, which provides clean failsafe operation in any environment.

These products, which are currently in use by Law Enforcement and Militaries all over the globe have been tested, under any condition possible with the same outcome every time—ultra reliability you can depend on every time.

The Nova, M2, and M4 shotguns are available with 14-inch barrels and come in a variety of configurations with features like adjustable ghost-ring sights, rifle sights, and tactical stocks and pistol grip stocks.

For the latest news and product information visit www.benelliusa.com
Tags: Ammoland.com)- Multi-gun competition demands the highest standards of reliable operation in guns performing under the pressures of action shooting and the stresses of a timed event.

Benelli’s M2 has passed the test of time, establishing a sterling reputation as the shotgun of choice for serious 3-gun competitors.

Now, Benelli takes the M2 to the next level with the issue of the Performance Shop M2 3-Gun Edition, the ultimate tactical competition gun that’s simply perfect.

Like all Benellis the heart of the M2 3-Gun Edition is its ultra-reliable Inertia Driven operating system, which has been worked to ensure that the bolt runs as smooth as oiled glass.

The trigger group has also been honed and polished to eliminate creep and travel, which provides a crisp let off for better control over timing of the shot that’ll have you on target more consistently, shot after shot.

This fine-tuned tactical gun incorporates custom parts from Nordic Components that promote efficient handling and enhanced performance. It begins with the fitting of a larger bolt release, called a Speed Button, designed to eliminate any fumbling during quick reloads. An extended tactical-style bolt-cocking handle integrates a unique swirled design that provides a quick and sure grip, and which, aids the effort of loading and unloading.

The M2 3-Gun Edition’s loading port has been widened, edges beveled and the carrier modified to assist with the speed and ease of loading the extended 8-shot magazine. Completing the magazine customization, heavy-duty Teflon-coated followers have been fitted to ensure the lowest drag possible and to eliminate unnecessary friction within the magazine. The M4 H2O comes standard with a Picatinny rail, pistol-grip stock and a fully adjustable ghost-ring aperture rear sight and windage-adjustable front sight.

NP3 is an electroless nickel-based finish, which gives the metal’s surface an attractive satin gray, non-reflective finish. All active surfaces including the M4 H2O’s entire bolt assembly, trigger group, magazine tube and follower and barrel are evenly plated with a true composite coating of sub-micron particles of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene)—also known as Teflon with electroless nickel co-deposited into the nickel matrix.

Every metal part of on the M4 H2O is completely protected from rust and corrosion, even when exposed to marine environments with salt spray, rain, and high humidity. This degree of protection is 10 times greater than standard electroless nickel finishes.

Not only is NP3 extremely corrosion resistant, but it also provides high lubricity and a low friction co-efficient, which greatly increases the life of a firearm. Furthermore, as wear occurs on the surface of the finish, fresh particles of PTFE are exposed to maintain consistent lubricating qualities of the coating.

The M4 H20 will only be available for a limited time, so visit your Benelli dealer soon to see and handle a shotgun that’s truly capable of weathering all conditions.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Gauge: 12-Gauge

Barrel Length: 18.5”

Sights: Ghost-ring

Metal Finish: NP3

Stock: Telescoping

Average Weight: 7.8 lbs.

Overall Length: 40”

Length of Pull: 14 3/8”

Drop at heel: 2.25”

Drop at Comb: 1.5”

MSRP: $2269

For the latest news and product information visit www.benelliusa.com
Tags: Ammoland.com)- The Stoeger Model 3500 3½-inch Magnum competed in a rigorous comparison test and evaluation conducted by the editors of American Rifleman and is named the “2012 Golden Bullseye Shotgun of the Year.”

The award will be presented to Stoeger at the 2012 NRA Annual Meeting on May 15-18, in St. Louis, Missouri.

At the heart of the Stoeger M3500 is the proven Inertia Driven operating system; simple and efficient with only three moving parts in the bolt for lightning-fast, reliable operation.

Unlike older gas-system guns, the M3500’s Inertia Driven action is contained primarily within the receiver; giving the Stoeger M3500 a better, more centered balance and swing. With no propellant gas venting into the action, the M3500 stays cleaner longer and is inherently more reliable.

The M3500 handles a full range of loads, from 2¾-inch field loads up to the potent 3½-inch Magnum, without adjustment. For reliability and performance, no other 3½-inch semi-auto in its price range compares. With the proven rugged design of its operating system, the Stoeger’s Model 3500 will handle just about any hunting challenge, providing a great value for hunters.

All M3500s come with four choke tubes (Full, Modified, Improved-Cylinder and Extra-full turkey), and a shim kit for drop and cast adjustment. The receiver is drilled and tapped and a Weaver-style scope base comes standard. A threaded steel recoil reducer is included and can be installed in the buttstock to reduce recoil when using Magnum loads. The M3500 is available in three different finishes — Matte black synthetic, Realtree® APG™ or Realtree® Max-4™.

“Earning this prestigious award from the NRA Publications group fittingly recognizes Stoeger’s commitment to quality, reliability and value, and we are honored,” said Stephen McKelvain, Benelli USA’s VP of Marketing & Communications. “The M3500 is just another example of that commitment to ever-increase the quality of Stoeger products and still maintain a value price that makes them the perfect choice for hunters everywhere.”

SPECIFICATIONS: Gauge: 12 Gauge Barrel Length: 24”, 26” & 28” Sights: Red Bar Front Sight Metal Finish: Black synthetic, Realtree Max-4Ô, Realtree APG Stock Material: Synthetic Average Weight: 7.5 lbs. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- This year, NRA-ILA worked with pro-gun legislators to include a provision in the 2012 Commerce, Justice and Science appropriations legislation to help prohibit the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from banning the importation of shotguns that are currently legally imported.

That legislation was a part of a consolidated appropriations bill that Congress passed to fund major portions of the federal government for the remainder of fiscal year 2012.

Unfortunately, some inaccurate reports have claimed that this provision would repeal the “sporting purposes” test for importation of firearms.

While NRA supports repeal of the “sporting purposes” test, the provision included in the recently enacted bill does not achieve this goal.

The provision supported by NRA-ILA was prompted by a recent Study on the Importability of Certain Shotguns.” The “Study” argued “military shotguns, or shotguns with common military features that are unsuitable for traditional shotgun sports” should be banned from import into the U.S.

The ban would have applied to all shotguns including semi-autos, pump-actions, double barrels, etc. As part of the rulemaking process, comments from the public on the study were allowed to be submitted until May 1, 2011.

Many gun owners had been dreading the ATF’s decision, knowing full well what ATF’s intention was from the start.

Browning Firearms

Morgan, UT --(Ammoland.com)- The Browning Citori has built a reputation as the finest, most reliable over and under shotgun available.

For 2012 Browning will introduce the new Citori 725 12 gauge over and under that is the evolution of John M. Browning’s legendary B25 Superposed, now with the modern performance advantage of a low-profile receiver.

The new 725 receiver is significantly lower than other Citori 12 gauge receivers, yet the 725 shares the renowned durability of generations of Citori over and unders with the same rugged full-width hinge pin and tapered locking bolt design.

The new Browning 725 showcases an all-new FireLite Mechanical Trigger that offers unmatched feel and lighter pull weights than ever before offered on a Citori. The innovative design features reduced take up, a crisp break and shorter overtravel. Trigger pull weights are about 3-3 ½ lbs. for Sporting guns and 4-4 ½ lbs. for Field Models.

Browning’s new Inflex II Technology recoil pad gives the new 725 the next generation of the most recoil absorbing pad available. A softer new material provides better recoil absorbing performance and is super slippery to prevent snagging on clothing when shouldering. Internal directional deflection construction guides the comb down and away from the cheek for greater shooting comfort and faster, more accurate follow-up shots.

The new 725 Citori will feature Browning’s new Invector-DS™ (Double Seal) Choke System that provides better patterning, lighter weight and a sleeker barrel profile. The combination of muzzle-end treads and thin-wall construction allows for a longer, more gradually tapered choke tube that results in more evenly scaled patterns. The Invector-DS also features a proprietary brass seal that prevents gas and grit from slipping between the barrel and choke tube.

Citori 725 Field and 725 Sporting Models will be offered for 2012. The new low-profile receivers have a silver nitride finish. Field models feature a high-relief engraving and sporting models feature a gold accented engraving. Both models will feature Browning’s Vector Pro™ lengthened forcing cones for improved patterns and performance.

FN SC-1 features 28-inch back-bored ported barrels that are fully chrome-lined from chamber to muzzle for long life and added corrosion resistance. The barrels are equipped with Invector-Plus stainless steel extended choke tubes with knurled bands and a blue FN USA Team collar for easy identification. The 10mm wide vented top rib has a brass mid-bead and fiber-optic front sight for quick and easy target acquisition.

In terms of appearance, the all-steel low profile receiver is embellished with a combination of brushed silver satin and bright FN USA Team blue. The blue and gray laminated wood stock is fitted with a premium sporting recoil pad, a fully adjustable comb and is checkered and textured for a sure grip under any shooting conditions.

“We are proud of Team FNH USA and are pleased with their winning track record on the national 3-gun shooting scene,” said Pfau. “With the introduction of the SC-1, the team will now have an edge over its competition. This is the gun they’ll have in their hands when they step to the line on a flying clays layout.”

Ammoland.com)- Versatility, value and solid reliability make the Stoeger M3500 3 ½-inch, 12-gauge shotgun the perfect choice for waterfowl, wild turkey or upland game birds.

This camo shotgun, available in Realtree APG or Realtree MAX-4 handles a full range of loads, from 2¾-inch up to the potent 3½-inch Magnum without adjustment.

For reliability and performance, no other 3½-inch semi-auto shotgun in its price range compares.

At the heart of the Stoeger M3500 is the proven Inertia Driven operating system; simple and efficient with only three moving parts in the bolt for lightning-fast, reliable operation.

Unlike older gas-system guns, the M3500’s Inertia Driven action is contained primarily within the receiver; giving the Stoeger M3500 a better more centered balance and swing. With no propellant gas venting into the action, the M3500 stays cleaner longer.

Stoeger’s M3500 comes with either a 24-, 26- or 28-inch barrel, fitted with a ventilated, stepped rib and fiber-optic front sight for quick target acquisition, even under low-light hunting conditions. The alloy receiver is drilled and tapped and includes a Weaver-style scope base.

All M3500’s come supplied with five choke tubes (extra-full turkey, full, modified, improved-cylinder, and cylinder), shim kit for drop and cast adjustment, and a threaded steel recoil reducer that can be installed in the buttstock to help manage felt recoil from heavy Magnum loads.

www.stoegerindustries.com.
Tags: <a

As a veteran competitor in 3-Gun matches, Butler is more than qualified to explain the proper methods employed for shooting various guns effectively.

On tonight’s show, shotgun skills are tested in a head-to-head speed shooting challenge that will have tensions escalating on both teams, especially since it will also be an elimination challenge, unlike any before it.
<div

This time, an all-new arsenal of history-inspired challenges awaits 16 contestants as they vie for a $100,000 prize package and the right to claim the title of “Top Shot.”

The 14 marksmen and two markswomen were carefully selected from thousands of applicants to participate in this season. The contestants include a national revolver champion, two homeland security agents, a former Navy SEAL, two cops, a nurse and several firearms instructors. Two of the competitors are self-taught.

The shooters will have to display mastery of weapons from all eras of human history, from primitive rocks to sophisticated firearms. In addition, they must endure grueling physical tests to stay in the game.

High-speed, high-definition cameras capture the skillful execution of each test in extreme slow motion.

“The M4 Tactical is the ideal choice for use by the competitors on Top Shot,” Said Stephen McKelvain, Benelli USA VP of Marketing & Communications. “This gun had to pass the most grueling and rugged tests imaginable to satisfy the Marines’ combat standards, so for this gun, it should be a walk-in-the-park, as long as the shooters can keep up with it—it was made to perform in the harshest circumstances.”

For the latest news and product information visit <a

That means no bulky gas cylinders, valves, pistons, or hardware. Without the extra baggage, the I-12 has a slender, low-profile fore-end that fits the shooter’s hand for comfortable handling.

The I-12 series from Franchi has a shotgun model for nearly any kind of hunting. The I-12 with a black synthetic stock is an excellent all-around shotgun.

Renaissance – The Franchi Renaissance over & under shotgun is a work of art. The receiver of each of these Franchi shotguns is precision machined from a solid billet of aluminum alloy, which is steel reinforced in critical areas. Extra material is removed, and the findal product is an over & under 12-gauge shotgun that weights an incredibly light 6 pounds. Until now, an over & under this light was unheard of because no lightweight alloys were strong enough to hold up to steady shooting without delivering punishing recoil. Now, however, Franchi engineers have developed an innovative Twin Shock-Absorber™ recoil pad with a special gel insert that absorbs up to 44-percent of the felt recoil.

For more information and to download the rebate form, please visit The new Remington VERSA MAX is the new standard for reliability in autoloading shotguns; the VERSA MAX shatters convention and all previous benchmarks for reliability with an action unlike any that have come before it. Proven in the field and in extreme tests of endurance with thousands of test rounds, it cycles all 12-gauge loads with ultimate consistency, softer recoil and less maintenance than you’ve ever experienced.

At the heart of VERSA MAX is the patented VersaPort gas piston system; an extremely-reliable, semi-automatic operating system consisting of seven gas ports and two gas pistons for enhanced load versatility, while softening recoil and reducing maintenance. With the design of the patented gas system, the VERSA MAX reduces recoil to that of a 20 gauge. The VersaPort gas system self-regulates gas pressure based on the length of the shell, for flawless cycling no matter the load. Additionally with its self-cleaning gas piston system, overall maintenance time and effort is greatly reduced. With fewer parts than conventional gas systems, not only is cleaning easier but there are fewer parts to maintain. From the lightest 2 -inch target loads to the heaviest 3 -inch magnums, the VERSA MAX cycles with ultimate consistency, softer recoil and less maintenance than ever experienced before.

About Remington Arms Company, LLC.
FieldandClays.com

FieldandClays.com --(Ammoland.com)- There are many reasons why trapshooters miss targets, but in my opinion, the most common reason for losses is lifting the head prior to shooting the target.

This is a difficult problem for many shooters because they don’t realize that the head is being lifted. The head need not be lifted a great deal in order for the target to be missed. This is because of the “megaphone effect”.

The megaphone effect means that a slight lift in the head from the stock, (the mouthpiece of the megaphone), is compounded by distance and by the time the shot reaches the area of the target, (the open end of the megaphone), the mistake is much larger and often results in a lost target.

Fortunately, there is a way for shooters to prevent lost targets due to head lifting and at the same time, allows a shooter to see his own target pointing errors. It’s called follow through. Now, when I mention follow through, I’m not referring to the gun moving beyond the target after the gun has been fired. That’s called momentum and if you’re building up enough momentum to carry the gun well beyond the target, then the gun is probably a little out of control. The follow through I’m speaking of is keeping the head on the stock long enough to insure that head lifting will never cause a lost target.

For those of you who would like to develop follow through, you will have to do a little thinking about it when you practice shooting until the follow through becomes second nature to your style of shooting. At that point, you won’t have to think your way through each shot as follow through will just be a part of what you do each time you call for and shoot at a target. I wouldn’t want you to have to think too much during a competition because every time someone tells me that they were shooting quite well and “I got to thinking”, I know they are going to tell me about losing a target. We want follow through to become second nature to you so that thinking is no longer necessary. Now, all you need to do is see the target and react to what you see without having to think.

In order to develop follow through, you must force yourself to pick out a piece of the target you just broke and point at it before you dismount the gun. By doing this, you will insure that you are still well attached to the stock after breaking a target. If you are still lifting your head, you will be made aware of the situation when you try to point at the piece and you can’t get a good sight picture. If you are not lifting your head, you will still have your normal sight picture and pointing at a piece of the target will be easy. In addition, with the sight picture still intact, you will clearly see pointing errors if you happen to over lead, under lead or shoot above or below a target.

Follow through will make a much better shooter out of you, but like I said earlier, it will take some thinking during practice sessions until follow through becomes second nature to you. If you watch for this practice while watching some of the better shooters, you find that their heads stay put long after the shot is fired. If you develop the same habit, you will probably find yourself in more shootoffs with those same better shooters.

Good luck and don’t forget to keep your head down.

About:
Beretta USA

Make no mistake, the Beretta Xtrema2 camouflage shotgun, available in Realtree MAX-4, set the standard for all autoloaders.

Others tried to follow, but the Xtrema2 remains the choice of serious waterfowlers.

The truth is that no other inertia or gas autoloader can match the Xtrema2 for corrosion protection, reliability, recoil reduction, and simplicity of maintenance. In fact, the Xtrema2 has more recoil reduction features than any other autoloading shotgun on the planet. It will pound out shot after shot, season after season—even generation after generation.

No wonder that in the relentless pursuit of excellence, our engineers set the benchmark for a “do-it-all” shotgun with the Xtrema2:- Shooting Illustrated’s “shotgun of the year.”

Beretta’s unique self-compensating gas-operation system is considered the best and most reliable in the world. Recoil is significantly reduced, as the system automatically vents the excess gases of even the most powerful shells. This action simply can’t be match by inertia-operated shotguns, which in cycling the action 100% of the recoil signature to the shooter, and creates a very short “operating window” for the shotgun to function.

The Beretta system uses only the gas it needs to cycle; the shotgun has a “reserve” of energy, introducing more gas into the cylinder and increasing the pressure until the action cycles.

The result is the most reliable, durable shotgun that performs time after time, every time.

For more info, check out www.berettausa.com.

About:
National Association for Gun Rights

Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- Did you know the ATF is trying to re-define the law?

And they’ve got their anti-gun sights set on your SHOTGUN.

In January, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives released a document announcing a study that would dramatically tighten regulations on shotguns.

With the tacit approval of the Obama Administration, the ATF hopes to use bureaucratic rule changes to ban the importation and sale of certain shotguns based on their twisted view of the “sporting purposes” clause in the 1968 Gun Control Act.

There’s one major problem. As you know, the purpose of the Second Amendment isn’t to protect “sports.”

It’s to protect citizens – like you and me – from a tyrannical government.

This proposal by the ATF is an all-out flank attack on our right to keep and bear arms.

The ATF’s ridiculously anti-gun study suggests that certain, and in many cases very random, criteria would make a shotgun unable to be imported.

Those random criteria include:

Folding, telescoping or collapsible stocks;

Bayonet lugs;

Flash suppressors;

Magazines over 5 rounds, or a drum magazine;

Integrated rail systems;

Light enhancing devices;

Excessive weight (greater than 10 pounds for a 12 gauge);

Excessive bulk;

Forward pistol grip.

You read that right. Excessive weight and bulk will get your shotgun banned. You and I both know, none of the items listed make a firearm more or less dangerous.

It is a list of completely arbitrary items that have more to do with appearance than anything substantial.

The ATF might as well say they don’t want anything “black” to be imported – it would be just as logical. But their blatant disregard for the truth doesn’t stop there.

The United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) and the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) might be interested to know that the ATF doesn’t consider their matches a “sport”…

But the ATF has made a mistake, and I need you to capitalize on it.

They have opened up a comment period – open until April 30 – by which the general public can voice their opinions on this “study.”

That means gun owners like you and I, simply MUST make our voices heard by the anti-gun bureaucrats in Washington.

They think that they quietly slip these regulations through without taxpayers and voters making a fuss.

Gun owners must let them know we’re watching their every move.

That’s why I need you to contact the ATF and tell them to keep their hands off your shotgun and to ditch their ridiculous, anti-gun study.

You can send them a message by emailing here shotgunstudy@atf.gov

Over the next few days, I intend to urge National Association for Gun Rights’ members like you to flood the ATF with emails stating exactly how ridiculous their proposal is.

This ban is not about public safety.

It is nothing less than the Obama administrations latest attempt to use bureaucratic wrangling to trample over your Second Amendment rights.

It is another example of a power grab by an already out of control government agency.

Apparently it wasn’t enough for them to funnel firearms into Mexico.

Now they want to keep you from having a home defense shotgun.

I need you to contact the ATF TODAY and tell them to keep their hands off your shotgun and to ditch their ridiculous, anti-gun study.

For Liberty,

Dudley Brown
CalGunLaws.com

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- The California Rifle and Pistol Association Foundation (CRPAF) has submitted a letter correcting and clarifying some of the areas of California firearm law addressed in a draft ATF Study that could result in banning the importation of self-defense shotguns.

Other issues raised by the Study are being addressed by organizations like the National Rifle Association.

In January 2011, BATFE published a preliminary “Study on the Importability of Certain Shotguns.” The study addresses the federal law that restricts the importation of firearms, with an exception for firearms that are generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to “sporting purposes.” 18 USC § 925(d)(3). As part of the process of finalizing the report, ATF has invited comments from the public.

It is important for activists and members to submit comments. This preliminary study, if adopted by ATF, would restrict the importation of a large quantity of currently importable shotguns. And Legislatures may use this study as a jumping off point to ban other shotguns within the United States with these features. Since the law conditions a firearm’s ability to be imported on whether it is “generally recognized” as meeting the law’s sporting purpose test, it is important that the BATFE hear from the general public. Particularly relevant will be the comments of people who use shotguns equipped with one or more of the features for hunting or any form of competitive or recreational target shooting, and people who adapt such shotguns to a sporting purpose by simple modifications, such as attaching or removing a flashlight, attaching or removing a forward grip, or installing or removing a magazine extension or magazine plug.

A working group within the BATFE has recommended that any shotgun (semi-automatic, pump-action or any other) that has any one of 10 specific features should be banned from importation, on the grounds that such shotguns are not “generally recognized as particularly suitable for a readily adaptable to sporting purposes.”

The working group report lists features that it contends make shotguns “non-sporting:” a folding, telescoping, or collapsible stock; a magazine of over five rounds or a drum magazine; a flash suppressor or a muzzle brake that also suppresses flash; an integrated rail system other than on top of the receiver or barrel; a light enhancing device; a forward pistol grip or similar protruding part; an “excessive” weight of over 10 pounds; an “excessive bulk” of over three inches width and/or over four inches depth; a bayonet lug; or “a grenade-launcher mount.”

The working group considers “sporting purposes” to be limited to hunting, skeet, trap and sporting clays, but not to include practical shotgun matches or recreational target shooting. To have considered practical matches, the working group said, could have led to conclusions that would undercut the BATFE’s 1989 and 1998 bans on the importation of semi-automatic rifles, and its 1993 ban on the importation of various semi-automatic pistols. The working group also indicated a reluctance to accept practical matches because they test defensive firearm skills, which the working group believes are of military and police orientation.

The working group surveyed shotgun laws of all fifty states, and addressed California’s “assault weapon” law which lists certain shotguns as “assault weapons.” ( Due to the fact that “short-barreled shotguns” are regulated in almost all fifty states and by federal law, the study did not address the laws concerning these items.) The Study also notes discusses a San Diego municipal ordinance that defines certain shotguns as “assault weapons.” (San Diego, Cal., City of San Diego Municipal Code Chapt. 5 Art. 3 Div. 00 § 53.31).

CRPAF’s letter discusses the five shotguns that are listed as “assault weapons” by make and model under California law. These are the Cobray: Streetsweeper – S/S Inc., SS/12, and Striker 12 and the Franchi: SPAS 12 and LAW 12. Cal Pen § 12276 and 11 CCR 5495. In addition, the CRPAF letter clarifies California law defining certain shotguns as “assault weapons” by virtue of their features. Cal Pen § 12276.1(a)(6)-(8).

Notably lacking from the Study’s description of California “assault weapon” laws is the exception for “antique firearms,” meaning firearms manufactured prior to January 1, 1899. Cal Pen § 12276.1(c)(1) and (d)(3). The CRPAF letter clarified this point for the ATF.

The CRPAF letter also explained that the San Diego municipal ordinance defining certain shotguns as “assault weapons” is illegal.

This is not the first time ATF has reviewed what makes a firearm “non-sporting.” In 1989, the ATF published the “Report and Recommendation of the ATF Working Group on the Importability of Certain Semiautomatic Rifles.” In the 1989 Report, ATF determined that certain rifles that were semiautomatic versions of full-automatic rifles and rifles with certain features (“military configuration”) were “non-sporting” rifles. Many members of the firearm community look to this study and the one that followed it the “Department of Treasury Study on the Sporting Suitability of Modified Semiautomaic Assault Rifles” (published in 1998) as the precursors to the various federal and California “assault weapon” bans.

Comments to the BATFE may be submitted by e-mail to shotgunstudy@atf.gov, or by fax to (202) 648-9601, and must be received by May 1, 2011. Faxed comments may not exceed 5 pages. All comments must include name and mailing address.
Tags: <a

Today, the Webley Alecto has set a new standard for air pistol design, value and performance. The Company’s 900 Series shotgun has regained Webley & Scott’s reputation for affordable reliability and quality.
Tags: OSP Shooting School

FULSHEAR, TEXAS --(Ammoland.com)- OSP (Optimum Shotgun Performance) Shooting School, with the American Shooting Centers (ASC) in Houston, Texas will be hosting FREE instructional seminars in a new ASC program called “ComeOut2Shoot”.

The next seminar in the series will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011. The seminar will feature world-renowned shooting instructors Gil and Vicki Ash.

The seminar is FREE and available to all with required pre-registration. The event will begin at 7:30am with registration, sign-in until 8:30am, and the lecture will take place between 8:30am and 10:15am. Come out and discover the shooting skills you never knew you had, OSP guarantees it!

The “ComeOut2Shoot” seminar will focus on chokes and loads. Gil and Vicki will explain not only how chokes work, but when and why to use which choke and load based on your shooting experience. Participants will see the actual diameter of the shot cloud from five different chokes, at five yard increments from five to 50 yards. Clay shooters and hunters alike will have a better understanding of how to maximize their shotgun performance-guaranteed. Another topic (time permitting) of instruction at the“ComeOut2Shoot” seminar will be on mental performance.

Gil and Vicki will help students understand how their eyes, mind and body function together. Once the mental aspect of shooting a shotgun is understood, students will know why they succeed or fail when shooting! So do not miss this segment!

Ed Arrighi, ownership group spokesperson for ASC comments, “American Shooting Centers is privileged to have the Ash’s as resident instructors here in Houston. We are excited to join with the Ash’s, and OSP, to bring to Houston’s shooting public an information source to not only make shooters more proficient but better people as well.”

Comments from previous seminar’s: “I learned a ton and couldn’t believe it!”, “when you had us look at our thumbs, that explained why I’m so confused when I shoot a shotgun”, “I never thought about not looking down the barrel!”, and “this makes so much more sense to me now”.

Since becoming professional instructors, Gil and Vicki have EACH logged over 20,000 plus hours of teaching experience as well as studying vision, mental performance, and the difference in the way men and women perceive visually and how they store and recall data from the brain. Gil and Vicki are experienced and comfortable teaching all methods of shooting. From swing through, pull away, and maintained lead, as well as understanding the amount of risk each method creates for each type of shot, they can tackle them all! While other instructors concentrate only on the method and lead, the Ash’s concentrate on you. They help you reach your own personal goals; they tailor every lesson and clinic to your needs and skill level, and help you get in control of your performance, whether mechanical or mental.

With nine books authored, six instructional DVD’s in production, and more instructional books and DVD’s on the way, the Ash’s have the largest single source library of instructional material on shotgunning in the world.

Gil Ash of the OSP Shooting School states, “Vicki and I are thrilled about the new “ComeOut2Shoot” seminars that we will be hosting. We hope to offer a different look on sporting clays and the mental aspect of the game to the fans of American Shooting Centers.”

If you have a question or something you have never been able to understand about shotgun shooting, the “ComeOut2Shoot”
seminars are the chance for you to find out the real answer. Be sure to come with questions because Gil and Vicki will be able to give you a common-sense, scientific explanation that will keep you laughing and enjoying learning in a way you have never experienced.

In order for ASC to give every attendee the personal service they are committed to give, reservations are required because space is limited, so sign up early. All ages are welcome for the seminar but those chosen to participate in the live fire segment must be 16 years of age or older. Eye protection is mandatory for attendance and must be furnished by the attendee. Ear protection will be provided by ASC. To sign up today please call Lynn at 281.556.8086 or by visiting www.amshootcenters.com. Look for future seminar dates at www.amshootcenters.com or www.ospschool.com.

About OSP:
Gil and Vicki Ash have been shooting sporting clays since 1982. Unlike other instructors, they are professional teachers who have studied and practiced not only shooting, but the psychology of learning and performance, and they have developed the most effective teaching approach in the industry. OSP’s common sense teaching method helps students understand how their eyes, mind and body function together. Once this is learned, understanding why they succeed or fail when shooting a shotgun becomes simple! title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Weatherby has chambered its Mark V Accumark rifle and Threat Response Rifle (TRR) for the increasingly popular .338 Lapua Magnum long-range cartridge.

Originally designed as an ultra-long-range sniper cartridge for military use, the .338 Lapua Magnum has become a more common choice for big game hunters as well.

“Our Mark V Accumark and TRR rifles are designed for situations that require pinpoint accuracy at extended ranges, so the .338 Lapua Magnum chambering is a natural,” said Brad Ruddell, Weatherby’s vice president of sales and marketing.

The Mark V Accumark features a hand-laminated, raised-comb Monte Carlo composite stock with a matte gel coat finish and spiderweb accents. Also working to enhance accuracy is a button-rifled, #3 contour (.705 muzzle diameter) free-floated stainless steel fluted barrel with target crown. The 28-inch overall barrel length includes an Accubrake™ to reduce felt recoil.

Other features for precision shooting are a CNC-machined 6061 T-6 aluminum bedding plate and a factory-tuned, fully adjustable trigger. A Pachmayr Decelerator pad on the buttstock helps soften recoil.

Weatherby’s Mark V TRR rifle has a black composite stock with the CNC-machined 6061 T-6 aluminum bedding system. The three-position buttstock is adjustable for length of pull, drop at heel and cant of the pad, allowing a “custom-fit” to shooter size and shape for greater comfort, control and accuracy.

Also equipped with an Accubrake, the barrel measures 28 inches in overall length. Accuracy is further enhanced by the hand-tuned, fully adjustable trigger, which is factory set at three pounds with sear engagement factory set at .008 to .014.

Manufacturer’s suggested retail prices are $2,270 for the .338 Lapua Magnum Mark V Accumark and $2,879 for the .338 Lapua Magnum Mark V TRR. Right-hand models only.

For more information, contact a local Weatherby dealer, call the company at (805) 227-2600 or visit www.weatherby.com.

Founded in 1945, Weatherby, Inc.’s line features the popular Vanguard® and legendary Mark V® rifles (production and custom), over/under and side-by-side shotguns in the classic Athena® and Orion® lines, Threat Response™ shotguns and rifles, semi-auto and pump shotguns, premium ammunition and security/shooting accessories. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- The PA-459 Turkey model sports Mothwing Camo’s Spring Mimicry pattern on the stock and forend components.

Utilizing advanced computer technology, this hunting camouflage pattern is based on bark- and leaf-mimicking moths, accented with natural ground cover found in the spring.

“Spring Mimicry is one of the most effective turkey hunting camouflage patterns,” said Brad Ruddell, Weatherby’s vice president of sales and marketing. “It is a natural match for our PA-459, which offers a number of features that work well on those wily longbeards.”

The PA-459 Turkey model comes in 12 gauge with a 19-inch barrel. Its short 13.5-inch length of pull helps prevent the gun from snagging on turkey vests. Designed for comfort and reduced recoil, the shotgun’s ergonomic pistol grip-style buttstock has a rubber-textured grip area. A low-density recoil pad maximizes recoil absorption, making the PA-459 Turkey model easy on the shoulder.

Other key features include an extended forend and slide release to allow quick and easy function of the action. The forend has an integral Picatinny rail for accessories.

Constructed of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy to reduce overall weight without compromising strength, the PA-459 Turkey model’s CNC-machined receiver is designed to improve the balance of the shotgun for better handling. A mil-spec Picatinny rail is installed on the action for mounting optical sights. The rail has a rugged clamp-style LPA ghost ring rear sight that is easily adjustable for windage and elevation. Magazine capacity is four 3-inch rounds or five 2.75-inch rounds.

The PA-459 Turkey model’s barrel is chrome lined to withstand years of high-volume shooting. It is fitted with a .810-inch-1mm extended and ported full choke tube for application-specific patterning. The barrel has a blade front sight with a fiber optic pin for quick target acquisition.

Weighing approximately 6.5 pounds, the PA-459 Turkey model measures 40 inches in overall length. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $499.

For more information, contact a local Weatherby dealer, call the company at (805) 227-2600 or visit www.weatherby.com.

Founded in 1945, Weatherby, Inc.’s line features the popular Vanguard and legendary Mark V rifles (production and custom), over/under and side-by-side shotguns in the classic Athena and Orion lines, Threat Response shotguns and rifles, semi-auto and pump shotguns, premium ammunition and security/shooting accessories.
