class="wp-caption-text">Guns & Tactics Magazine

Las Vegas, NV --(Ammoland.com)- Soviet Sergeant Mikhail Surkov, the best and most prominent sniper of World War II, killed seven hundred and two German soldiers and officers – an entire Nazi battalion!

Lyudmila Pavlyuchenko, the most successful female sniper is credited with three hundred and nine kills.

Twenty of the best Soviet snipers took the lives of eight thousand five hundred Nazis – that’s three German regiments!

Hundreds of thousands of German troops were indeed killed by Soviet snipers.

However, a WWII sniper is not some lone wolf-shooter who crawls the battlefield under his own unguided direction, killing the enemy from an ambush.

Every sniper has to first master the craft of a soldier: be able to belly crawl hundreds of yards, run fast, learn camouflage and concealment techniques and, of course, shoot perfectly from any position. Snipers studied the operation and design of the rifle sights to determine and estimate the range to the target, wind velocity, the target’s speed and quickly perform necessary calculations. They worked hard on observation and concentration techniques, practiced firmly holding their hand and slowly squeezing the trigger. By the end of the training course Soviet snipers were required to perform such exercises as shooting at a distance of 1,000 meters against a machine gun target, killing a sentry at 800 meters, shooting a chest target at 500 meters, and with a telescope lens at 250 meters.

Moreover, snipers had to have the skills to fight as infantrymen – i.e. operate small arms, machine-guns, and anti-tank rifles. These soldiers studied the techniques of bayonet fighting, throwing grenades and Molotov cocktails.

Indeed, a sniper was one of the most fearsome warriors on the battlefield!

Therefore, 428,335 snipers graduated from the USSR’s Universal Military Training during World War II, on top of that, 9,534 elite snipers were trained by the Central Command. Some 1,885 female snipers, graduates of the female sniper school, fought in the Great Patriotic War. Just one female sniper company of the 3rd Attack Army killed 3,012 German soldiers and officers on its way from the town of Velikiye Luki to Berlin.

The main weapon of any sniper is the sniper rifle. In World War II it was the prominent Mosin rifle, fitted with a sniper sight, and the Simonov self-loading carbine with the same sight. They demanded much better quality of the barrel than was used with standard models. And snipers got the best. But in modern dynamic battles a bolt-action rifle no longer complied with the tactical requirements. So in 1963 the Dragunov semi-automatic rifle was adopted and remained the main sniper rifle of both Soviet and Russian Armies for nearly fifty years.

During that time the military strategy and tactics evolved: the Global War theory stepped down in favor of local conflicts and counter-terrorist operations, which required new combat techniques and new weapons. Big wartime battalions were replaced with Special Forces groups; ambushes, raid and infiltration tactics forced away conventional firing lines and trenches. Under those conditions the role of a sniper dramatically increased. Today, the sniper is not just an elite shooter, but being skilled in camouflage and concealment, self-control and equipped with perfect optics, he is also an ideal scout, a forward observer, and a spotter. And these elite soldiers needed an elite sniper rifle able to accurately hit any target at long-range distances. But Russian arsenals had no such rifles…

For a few years there was a long discussion in the press that the Russian small arms production was in deep crisis. They said Russia was hopelessly behind the West in the production of barrels and consequently could not produce any accurate sniper rifles. TV showed foreign rifles that could be adopted by the Russian Defense Ministry.

It was argued that there was no hope to catch up with the West, and it’s time to buy foreign small arms; and that Russia needed a true revolution in firing-arms production to reach a new level.

So when a year ago some media suggested that an elite-rifle production plant would soon be established in Moscow, it frankly seemed utopian at the time. That was impossible! There was no production, no machines and tools, no specialists and technologies. There are no miracles!

ORSIS - Firearms System Armed Sniper

And then at a shooting competition, renowned firearms expert and master shooter, Alexei Sorokin, was introduced to a new rifle marked with an unrecognized logo – ORSIS – Firearms System. And, after the competition it became clear that Russia now had it’s own precision rifle manufacturer.

Part 2… coming soon!

About Guns & Tactics Video:
ArmaLite Inc

Geneseo, IL – -(Ammoland.com)- What do you do with the best high-powered competition and tactical rifle in the world? At ArmaLite, you make it even better.

ArmaLite proudly introduces the AR-50A1 National Match at the 2011 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. Please come see our new rifle at Booth 12564.

The AR-50A1 National Match is similar to our standard AR-50A1 with some VERY important differences. The AR-50A1 NM is produced from selected components: The National Match’s 33 inch barrel is three inches longer than the standard AR-50A1’s barrel. The barrel has eight flutes. The flutes help with cooling and reduce unnecessary weight while maintaining accuracy-enhancing stiffness. The barrel has a 50 BMG Match chamber instead of a standard military chamber.

The result: sub MOA accuracy. We weren’t kidding when we told you we’ve made the best even better.

ArmaLite has also developed a “Skid System” for the AR-50A1 National Match. It’s meant for serious match use and comes standard, NOT as an expensive add-on. The ArmaLite Skid System provides parallel rests on the rifle that are parallel with the bore of the rifle so when it recoils it will recoil straight back. This has been requested by match shooters, some of whom have made their own. The front skid attaches to the slot in the forestock similar to the way bipod rails are attached. The rear skid attaches to the buttstock. Armalite developed the Skid System without modification to the AR-50A1’s original parts so the system can be used by shooters who already own an AR-50A1 and want to use their original stock with NO MODIFICATIONS.

Looking for more reasons the AR-50A1 NM achieves sub-MOA accuracy?

Here they are:
The heart of the rifle is its metallic stock-to-action interface. The patented V-Lock Bedding Wedge and V-Block Stock assure absolute strength and repeatability for superb accuracy. The aluminum stock reinforces the receiver like a bench-rest sleeve.

It’s not just the bedding that improves accuracy. Independent testing has proven the AR-50A1 muzzle brake to be the best in the industry for both recoil control and accuracy. It scrapes away turbulent muzzle gasses and lets the bullet break into clean air for amazing accuracy.

AR Stands For ArmaLite: Accept No Substitutes.

Caliber: .50 BMG

Weight: 33.2 lbs.

Barrel: 33” Chrome Moly, 8 Groove, RH 1:15 inch twist

Receiver: Modified Octagonal Form, Drilled and Slotted for Scope Rail

Muzzle Device: Highly Efficient Muzzle Brake

Stock: 3 Section: Extruded Forend, Machined, Grip Frame with Vertical Grip, Forged and Machined Removable Buttstock, Adjustable Cheek Piece

Bolt: Extended Triple Front Locking Lugs

Extractor: Sako Type

Trigger: Single Stage

Accuracy: sub MOA

Included with Rifle: Owner’s Manual, 15 Minute Rail, Bi-pod adapter, Owner’s Manual, and Limited Lifetime Warranty

McMillan Rifles

Phoenix, Arizona --(Ammoland.com)- McMillan is building 20 limited edition M40A1 Commemorative United States Marine Corps sniper rifle packages in honor of the Marine Corps and the legacy of the military sniper.

The M40A1 rifles are being built to the exact configuration as those originally issued. McMillan is calling the series Project 8541—the number used to designate Marine Corps snipers.

Gale McMillan, founder of McMillan, worked with the Marine Corps in 1975 to develop the M40A1 sniper rifle, recognized today as the first rifle designed as a true sniper rifle. The M40A1 is credited with the birth of the modern sniper rifle as well as ushering in a new era of rifle technology. For Gale McMillan’s contribution, in 2000 the Marine Corps presented him with a Service Award, a used dewatted M40A1. Each of the commemorative rifles is a replica of Gale McMillan’s original M40A1 rifle.

To further ensure the authenticity of the M40A1 Commemorative Rifle, McMillan traveled to Quantico Marine Corps Base and interviewed Marine armorers on specifications and gunsmithing procedures.

Each rifle is equipped with a MST-100 scope, period correct base and rings, Wichita swivels, leather military sling, and a numbered certificate of authenticity. The package comes in a custom inlet olive Pelican case.

In addition to the rifle, each package includes an original returned M40A1 stock from an actual USMC M40A1 service rifle. The Marine Corps issued 20 original stocks, each as unique in appearance as the men who used them. They come complete with the actual swivels and bottom metal they were received with, some matching some simply attached, but all original.

“The original rifle stocks have seen combat in places like Panama, Granada and Desert Storm. We only have 20 stocks available for the commercial market. It is a great rifle package for anyone who honors the Marine Corps and the sniper program. McMillan is proud to be part of our military history,” said Kelly McMillan, director of operations for McMillan .

According to Ryan McMillan, vice president of McMillan Firearms, “Collectors will appreciate owning a piece of history when purchasing the M40A1 Rifle Package.”

M40A1 Commemorative Rifle Specifications:

The 25” barrel utilizes conventional rifling with a 1 in 12” twist and has a M40A1 spec barrel contour. It is finished off with a deep recessed target crown matching the rifle given to Gale McMillan.

The action is a blue-printed Remington 700 short action that includes surface ground recoil lug; trued receiver face, threads, receiver lug shoulders and bolt head, and finally lapped bolt lugs. The receiver is machined with the correct stripper clip slots along with the ejection port modification and is marked “U.S.” above the serial number to match the original issue M40A1.

The stock is a McMillan plain HTG with molded-in forest camo, like the original, no stippling or checkering is present. Correct Wichita 1 1/4” sling swivels are anchored into the stock by internal molded-in steel inserts per the original contract. The 1/2” brown Pachmayr basket weave recoil pad is fitted for the 13 1/2″ LOP. The action is hand bedded along with the 1 1/2” of barrel cylinder forward of the recoil lug. The remainder of the barrel is free-floated.

The bottom metal is steel Winchester Model 70 style two-piece modified for the M40A1. Socket cap bolts, not factory slotted guard screws hold everything together. Like the originals, the BDL magazine box is welded to the receiver.

The serial numbers on all sub assemblies reflect the high level of attention to detail. The last 4 digits of the serial number are stamped into the bolt handle, bottom metal including both the door and trigger bow, scope base, and barrel. “RTE-P”, the proof mark of the dedicated USMC creators of the original M40A1, has been reproduced and placed along side the serial number on the barrel.

The scope is a continuation of the original contract steel tubed MST-100 10x furnished on the M40A1s. US Optics picked up the scope contract after it ran out with Unertl and performed all upgrades and refurbishing, as well as supplying new optics.

The scope base is hand fitted to the receiver just as the originals were. The one piece period correct U.S.O. base and rings are a true match to the original Unertl mounts. The trigger is a Remington trigger tuned to a crisp 3 pounds.

For additional information visit McMillan’s website, FNH USA

SENECA ROCKS, WV --(Ammoland.com)- More than two dozen of America’s best long range shooters gathered for three days of competition at the Fall 2010 Alleghany Sniper Challenge, October 9-11, atop this scenic mountain range, marking the Eastern Continental Divide.

This event is the only one of its kind that offers all steel targets at distances up to 1,200 yards and at varying angles across mountain valleys.

However, it was the support of FNH USA which made the 2010 Fall Challenge a unique and true first of its kind all-equipment-provided event. FNH USA provided each competitor with one of its FN SPR A5 .308 long range precision rifles with standard 20-inch fluted barrels, McMillan stocks, and a MIL-STD optical rail with 20 MOA forward cant. Competitors were also issued identical scopes, rings, slings, and ammunition provided for by other manufacturers. Competitors were not allowed any other equipment including electronics or range finders (bipods were allowed).

“FN’s support was absolutely instrumental in making this match possible,” said Rod Hansen, who shares the title of co-creator and co-Match Director with John Markwell. Together they started this event almost 10 years ago to provide fellow long range shooters with the types of challenges, distances, and real world conditions they themselves enjoy.

“This match places each competitor on a level playing field and represents the most extreme and complete test of each shooter’s skill and knowledge of ballistics,” said Hansen.

“We are proud to put our products into the hands of these competitors,” said Benjamin Voss, Instructor and Master Firearms Specialist with FNH USA. “These types of events allow us to receive direct feedback from the people who use our guns and allows us to improve, develop, and shape future products,” said Voss, who is also the captain of FNH’s long range shooting team.

Voss and his two team members, Justin Daley, a police sniper, and Jason Thompson, are all former Marine Corps snipers who served together. They also shot the match using new rifles from FNH.

“These events also give us an opportunity to test prototypes and new ideas to continually improve our product line,” said Voss.

The Fall 2010 Alleghany Sniper Challenge takes place over two weekends, essentially becoming two matches. The first weekend match took place in September, and FNH USA provided all the rifles for that first weekend as well. More than 50 shooters took part and used FNH rifles over the two weekends.

Since Hansen and Markwell designed the match from the ground up they also made changes they felt would improve the experience for the competitors. Shooters engage almost 50 targets and are allowed to fire up to 125 shots, but they only count misses, not hits. The shooter with the lowest score wins.

The winners from the first weekend were: 1st Kevin Mussack of upstate, NY, 2nd Geoff Martel of Mt. Morris, NY, and 3rd Eric Underiner of Ringoes, NJ.

Winners of the second match: 1st Pete Pi, Jr. from Cor-Bon in Sturgis, SD (who provided all the ammunition used), 2nd Rich Grinn of Clarkston, MI, and 3rd Chris Soyka of Iona, MI.

Ammoland.com)- Remington’s latest upgrade of its Sniper Weapon System for the U.S. Army, the M-24E1, includes a new Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm Extended Range/Tactical (ER/T) M5 Locking Adjustment riflescope.

Specially designed and built with the military sniper in mind, the scope has an auto-locking elevation adjustment. This feature ensures rock-solid reticle adjustment is maintained during rough going and stressful conditions on the battlefield.

“This new scope incorporates all of the features our warfighters have been asking for,” said Kevin Trepa, Leupold’s vice president of tactical sales and marketing. “We are working hard to design, manufacture and deliver the tools they need to get the job done.”

Leupold President and CEO Calvin Johnston added, “We are excited that our newest riflescope is part of Remington’s upgraded M-24E1 Sniper Weapon System. Leupold will continue to leverage its Oregon-based workforce to provide the military with superior products built to their specifications.”

Other key features of the new ER/T include M5 windage and elevation adjustment dials with audible, tactile 1/10 (0.1) milliradian clicks to match the range-estimating, mil-based Horus reticle options. This allows fast, intuitive shot correction in the field. An elevation zero-stop helps prevent under-rotation in high-stress situations.

With the battle-proven Horus H27 or H58 reticle in the front focal plane, the scope offers the versatility of a variable magnification optic and the ability to accurately range at all magnification settings (the reticle magnifies with the image).

Leupold’s Xtended Twilight Lens System delivers an exceptionally clear, bright sight picture for outstanding target discrimination at all powers and in a wide range of lighting and environmental conditions. A lockable fast-focus eyepiece makes reticle focus simple to achieve and maintain. It also enables long eye relief to provide the shooter with nearly instant target acquisition.

Other key features include side focus parallax adjustment for fast, easy parallax focusing from 75 yards to infinity, from any shooting position. The 34mm maintube provides exceptional strength and allows for maximum windage and elevation adjustment.

The Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm ER/T M5 Locking Adjustment riflescope is waterproof, fog proof and shock proof. Exhaustive testing in the factory and field ensures durability. With its M5 Locking Adjustment, the scope’s platform is unique in the Mark 4 ER/T line. It is controlled under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and limited to domestic and international government sales only.

Leupold has offered precision optics for tactical applications since the 1983 introduction of Ultra riflescopes, which were designed to excel under the most extreme battlefield conditions. Today, more Leupold long-range optics are in service with the U.S. military than any other brand. For more information on Leupold tactical optics, go to www.leupold.com.

Leupold & Stevens, Inc., the preeminent American-owned and -operated optics company, employs more than 600 people in its state-of-the-art facility near Beaverton, Ore., where rugged, dependable, high-performance Mark 4 and Golden Ring optics are designed, machined and assembled. Leupold is a fifth-generation, family-owned company whose products are sold worldwide to military warfighters, law enforcement personnel, hunters, competitive shooters and wildlife observers. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- ArmaLite, Inc. proudly celebrates the 10th anniversary of its legendary AR-50A1 with a special offering. We have made just FIFTY 50’s in a one-of-a-kind color and as part of a special package.

The anniversary rifle includes a custom powder coating color process in silver-black crackle finish. The anniversary dates are laser etched on the upper receiver.

Each Anniversary AR-50 is part of a special package including an ArmaLite 30mm scope mount; Armalite 15, 30, and 50 minute scope rails; a bipod, a monopod; 100 rounds of spent GI brass; and a certificate of authenticity. See your ArmaLite dealer for details.

The anniversary AR-50 isn’t just a pretty rifle… it’s one of the finest high-powered rifles in the world. The heart of the AR-50A1 is its metallic stock to action interface. The patented V-block stock and bedding wedge assure absolute strength and repeatability for superb accuracy. The aluminum stock reinforces the receiver almost like a bench-rest sleeve.

Accuracy? It’s not just in the bedding. Independent testing has proven the AR-50A1 muzzle brake to be the best in the industry for both recoil control and accuracy. It scrapes away turbulent muzzle gasses and lets the bullet break into clean air for amazing accuracy.

Strength, accuracy, and stability make the AR-50A1 stunningly durable and accurate for decades of hard use. You’ll be proud to hand it down to the next generation.

Rockcastle Shooting Center

Park City, KY –-(Ammoland.com)- Rockcastle Shooting Center at Park Mammoth Resort will become the permanent host site for their Inaugural 2011 Mammoth Sniper Challenge January 7-9, 2011.

This long range precision rifle competition will be open to military, law enforcement, professional and civilian shooters with a maximum participation set at 100 competitors.

Match Director and Course Designer Joe Harris said, “Eight stages will be set amongst the 2,000 acres of Rockcastle’s Shooting Center because of its natural terrain in the south central area of Kentucky with shooting distances up to and over 1,000 yards.

Rockcastle Shooting Center is the only shooting center on the east coast providing competitors with long distance tactical shooting ranges that will not only challenge their shooting skills but their ability to neutralize targets.”

The Mammoth Sniper Challenge www.MammothSniperChallenge.com will be a practical field competition with 100 percent reactive targets, night and low light stages, scenario based stages and offer high angle shooting up and down the various ridges on the property.

Targets will vary in size from ½ MOA to 2 MOA, with the possibility of ¼ MOA for an added surprise. The overall course will include shooting from prone positions to being placed 20 to 30 feet above ground and will run despite weather conditions. Details of the scenario based stages will be revealed in the match program upon onsite registration.

Nick Noble, CEO of Rockcastle Shooting Center said, “Rockcastle Shooting Center created this type of an event because our property already has so many natural surface features to physically challenge even the most seasoned competitor. The nation’s best will convene to this dynamic setting and have to adapt to the unsteady footing of the steep terrain, locate targets through the dense woods and shoot across distant valleys. It’ll be everything a long range precision rifle shooter wants in a shooting sports destination.”

Rockcastle Shooting Center is the newest addition to the Park Mammoth Resort property being developed into the nation’s premiere shooting sports resort. The shooting center offers a Sporting Clay course, 5 Stand, Pistol and Rifle Ranges out to 1,000 yards and two 3D Archery Ranges. Various levels of membership opportunities are available.

Park Mammoth Resort was built in 1964 and has operated since that time as a 2,000 acre golf resort and family destination. Nestled among the wooded ridges and valleys of the historic property, it is located in the heart of Caves, Lakes and Corvette region of south central Kentucky with 3.5 miles of Nature trails.

For information on events scheduled at Rockcastle Shooting Center and the first class accommodations and amenities offered at Park Mammoth Resort, visit our website at http://ParkMammothResort.us or email our guest client services at info@parkmammothresort.us.
Tags: Steyr Arms

CHARLOTTE, NC --(AmmoLand.com)- Steyr Arms has substantially upped the ante on its extraordinary long-range tactical rifle, the SSG 08, with the introduction of a brand new adaptation chambered in the ultimate long-range tactical round, the .338 Lapua Magnum.

A prototype of the new rifle is making its public debut at the 2010 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits.

The display of the prototype coincides with the overwhelmingly successful conclusion of the extensive 10,000-round endurance and reliability testing of the new chambering in the SSG 08 at the Austrian factory. The rifles are currently in route to the U.S. and will be available this summer.

Introduced to the American long-range shooting market in 2009, the SSG 08 was designed to the specifications of Austria’s EKO COBRA anti-terrorism unit. The SSG 08 is based on Steyr’s unique Safe Bolt System (SBS) action, which is bedded in a high-grade aluminum stock and mated to Steyr’s direct trigger, legendary for its crisp, clean and repeatable break. The skeletonized stock includes a UIT rail along the length of the fore end, a built-in bipod post, multiple mounting points for user-customized Picatinny rail combinations and a fully enclosed detachable-box magazine. The butt of the stock folds for transport and features an adjustable cheek piece, an adjustable butt plate, and an integrated, finely adjustable rear-elevation pod.

The cold-hammer-forged barrel measures 27.17 inches to maximize the potential of the .338 cartridge, and its 1:9 twist rate will stabilize bullets up to and including the increasingly popular 300-gr. HPBT Secnar projectile. The action, magazines and stock were lengthened to accommodate the dimensions of the .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge. Due to the SSG 08’s extreme accuracy potential and ability to maintain supersonic speeds at distances in excess of 1,500 meters with the .338 Lapua chambering, a 20-MOA declination scope base will also be included to make use of your favorite long-range optic. The .338 Lapua Magnum version of the SSG 08 also includes a newly designed heavy-duty bipod.

The new Steyr.338 Lapua Magnum version of the SSG O8 will be available at retailers nationwide by the end of the summer. The suggested retail price is $6,795. To find a dealer near you, visit the Steyr website at www.steyrarms.com.

Established in 1864, Steyr Arms is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious firearms manufacturers. Steyr’s comprehensive lines of premium hunting rifles and precision sporting and tactical firearms are technically mature, and their subtle elegance also communicates the harmony between appearance and substance. class="wp-caption-text">ArmaLite Inc

Geneseo, IL – (Ammoland.com) ArmaLite, Inc. is pleased to CONTINUE with our everyday low price for our spectacular AR-50A1™ rifle. For the foreseeable future, with no plans for a change, you can buy an AR-50A1 for $3,359.

Don’t worry about supplies lasting, we’re so confident of these masters of long-distance accuracy that we’re building them by the Truckload!

ArmaLite’s R&D people have put a lot of thought and effort into making the AR-50A1™ rock solid and precise. They know that it’s what’s INSIDE that counts.

The heart of the AR-50A1™ is its metallic stock to action interface. The patented V-Lock™ Bedding Wedge and V-Block Stock assure absolute strength and repeatability for superb accuracy. The aluminum stock reinforces the receiver like a bench-rest sleeve. Accuracy? It’s not just in the bedding. Independent testing has proven the AR-50A1 muzzle brake to be the best in the industry for both recoil control and accuracy. It scrapes away turbulent muzzle gasses and lets the bullet break into clean air for amazing accuracy.

ArmaLite’s extensive accessory line is perfect for customizing the AR-50A1. Shooters can add a 30 minute rail to help fill the void between 15 and 50 MOA if they don’t have full range of elevation in their scope. And by the way, our scope mount is on the receiver, FAR from any barrel whip.

Other options include a new length of pull kit that allows users to add length to the stock in increments.

There are also top quality bipods and monopods from Allied Precision Arms available. The foldable bipods have a solid, low profile with adjustable left and right cant. They’re also available with leg extensions. The monopods are both quick-adjustment and fine tuned adjustment. In fact, if you include BOTH the bipod and monopod, the AR50A1 is still an incredible value at just $3,759… far below the so-called sales prices of other firearms companies.

Whether you need this 50-cal giant for a military mission or a shooting competition, you can’t buy a better long-range rifle. The AR-50A1 truly sets the Armalite Standard of Excellence.

Caliber: .50 BMG

Length: 59.5 Inches

Weight: 33.2 lbs.

Barrel: 30” Chrome Moly, 8 Groove, RH 1:15 inch twist

Receiver: Modified Octagonal Form, Drilled and Slotted for Scope Rail

Muzzle Device: Highly Efficient Muzzle Brake

Stock: 3 Section: Extruded Forend, Machined Grip Frame with Vertical Grip, Forged and Machined Removable

Buttstock, Adjustable Cheek Piece

Bolt: Extended Triple Front Locking Lugs

Extractor: Sako Type

Trigger: Single Stage

Accuracy: 1” MOA

•	Included with Rifle: Owners Manual, 15 Minute Rail, Bi-pod adapter, Owners Manual, and Limited Lifetime Warranty

<div

SSG-69 is the Austrian Army’s standard issue sniper rifle, the PI is the civilian version of the same weapon. The SSG-69 is also used by several police agencies. The SSG is extremely accurate and several international competitions have been won using an SSG-69 with accuracy being sub .5 MOA.

There are several variants made with mostly cosmetic differences, the only anomaly being the SSG-PIV using a 409 mm barrel with a 1:250 mm (1:10 inches) twist designed to handle heavy subsonic ammunition.

Their precision and robustness set a trend internationally, for a new generation of modern precision rifles.
