Grand Island, Neb --(AmmoLand.com)- Team Hornady member Kelly Neal won the Open Division and took High Overall amongst 140 other competitors.

The one day event, hosted by the Starry Shooting Range in Corpus Christi, Texas designed a seven stage match using standard and 1/3 scale IPPA paper targets, steel knock down flashers and moving targets to put the shooters to the test.

After the match, Kelly said, “Vickers Scoring method was used which rewards accuracy, so I shot Hornady 55 grain V-MAX™ for the short range courses and Hornady 75 grain BTHP’s for the long range targets; they carry more energy to activate the reactive steel targets. I’m very proud to be a member of Team Hornady, using Hornady, I’m guaranteed the ammo will always be consistent and accurate and Hornady has terrific progressive re-loading equipment.”

Grand Island, Neb. –-(AmmoLand.com)- Team Hornady member Max Michel found himself on familiar ground when he won the Open Division of the 2010 Florida Open Pistol Tournament. The event is to the competitive shooting world what the Daytona 500 is to NASCAR.

The tournament was hosted by The Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Florida which specializes in military, law enforcement and competitive firearm training.

The ten stages, designed for high round count provided Max with the perfect venue to test his winning shooting skills and strategy.

Max commented, “Winning this event for the third consecutive year is just as exciting as it was the first time. The match was designed using International targets, which are not only shaped differently, but they’re 30% smaller than US targets.”

“I used Hornady 124 grain XTP in my 38 Super Comp and it performed flawlessly. Knowing every Hornady bullet is consistent allows me to run the stages with complete confidence so my concentration is not broken.”
