title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com)- Team Hornady members Doug Koenig and Carl Bernosky dominated the field of international competitive shooters at the 7th NRA World Action Pistol Championships held at Blacktown Pistol Club in Sydney, Australia.

Setting a world record score of 1920-188x, Doug Koenig added a Gold medal to his recent June NRA Bianchi Cup win, and Carl Bernosky, (still hot from his record breaking performance at Camp Perry in August as High Civilian in the High Power Rifle Championships) won the Silver medal with a score of 1920-181x. Both shooters relied on Hornady to achieve winning results.

The match consists of four events, Practical, Barricades, Mover Target and Falling Plates, all shot over three days.

The aggregate of each individual’s score in the four events, determines the winner of the Championship and each competitor’s final placing.

When both competitors were asked which Hornady product they used Doug said, “For all four events within the match I used 115 grain XTP® because of its accuracy and reliability; it can’t be beat. As a member of Team USA & Team Hornady competing in Australia; it was an added honor making this Open division win a special one for me.”

Carl commented, “This was such a great match for me, representing Team USA & Team Hornady and shooting a perfect 1920 score in the Open division. I used Hornady 115 grain XTP bullets because of their accuracy and dependability. I can ALWAYS count on it being consistent.”

Hornady spokesman Steve Johnson had this to say, “We are very pleased with Doug and Carl’s performances and with the way our bullets performed, we do everything we can to build the best bullets in the world; seeing them in the “winner’s circle” again means that we’re getting it done.”

For further information regarding Hornady products visit the Hornady website.

Hornady Ammunition

Grand Island, Neb. --(Ammoland.com)- Team Hornady members, Joe Thielen and Randy Stephens took top honors at the 2010 Missouri State 1000 yard bench rest championships in Yukon, MO on June 26, 2010.

Competing in a field of over 30 competitors, Joe, also an Engineer at Hornady Manufacturing, took 1st place in Light Gun group and another 1st in Light Gun overall. Randy took 1st place in the Heavy Gun score category as well as Heavy Gun overall.

The course of fire that entailed two, five shot targets with the light guns (17 lbs or less) and two, ten shot groups with the heavy guns (unlimited class). Each target was measured for group size and counted for score. Weather conditions were less than ideal, with 90-95 degree temperatures, high humidity, and an unpredictable fishtailing wind that made shooting very difficult.

Randy was shooting Hornady 30 caliber 208 gr A-MAX bullets in his heavy gun, which is chambered in 300 WSM. Both of his Heavy Gun targets were impressive with regard to both group and score. His first target was a 5.050″ / 99-4X and he followed that up with a 7.382″ / 95-3X, giving him a group average of 6.216 inches. Considering the 10 ring is only 7” in diameter, dropping only 6 points is very impressive.

Joe was shooting Hornady 7mm 162 gr. A-MAX

bullets in a 280 Remington Improved cartridge. The Light Gun targets measured an impressive 4.005″ / 47 followed by a 3.779″ / 45 (both pictured below). The group average was an amazing 3.892”. The fact that these groups are shot at well over half of a mile makes it almost unbelievable.

Joe had this to say after the match, “Shooting 1000 yard bench rest is my passion. Being able to use the bullets that I help design and build to shoot groups like these at 1000 yards leaves no doubt in my mind that we are on the cutting edge of match bullet technology, and we’re not done yet.”

Hornady Ammunition

Grand Island, Neb. –-(Ammoland.com)- Team Hornady pro shooters have been dominating the firing line. Most notably are two first place finishes at the prestigious 2010 NRA Bianchi Cup National Action Pistol Championship, May 26-29, at the Green Valley Rifle and Pistol Club near Columbia, Missouri.

Team Hornady members, Doug Koenig and Jessie Abbate, posted first place finishes at the Bianchi Cup. This was Doug’s 12th win and Jessie’s first. After winning the match with a perfect score of 1920-179x in the Open Division, Doug competed in the optional Speed Event, that he also won. Doug and Jessie were both shooting Hornady 115 gr XTP bullets from their Smith & Wesson 38 Super’s.

“For Bianchi, accuracy is it, and that is the reason I use Hornady bullets,” said Doug.

Team Hornady’s Max Michel was heavily favored to win the USPSA Area 4 Championship, May 19-24, at the Shootout Range in Bossier City, Louisiana, and he did not disappoint. Shooting Hornady 124 XTP in his 38 Super, Max was one of a very small group to put all hits on the target.

“Once again, my 124 gr XTP bullets proved to be accurate and consistent,” he said. “This time they were tested not only up-close, but also out to 50 yards on a very difficult pistol course. There just isn’t a better bullet.”

Fellow Team Hornady member, 17-year old Grand Master, Nic Neel finished third overall at the Area 4 match. Nic shot handloaded 125 gr Hornady HAP bullets in his Infinity IMM. Shooting 97.40% of Max’s event winning score, Nic is expected to make a major impact on the shooting scene in the years to come.

Team Hornady’s Tony Gimmellie used Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor 120 gr Match ammo to win the Oregon Sniper Challenge, May 22-23, at the Douglas Ridge Rifle Club in Eagle Creek Oregon.

Tony said, “Hornady’s 6.5 Creedmoor ammo delivered ½ MOA accuracy from the POF gas piston rifle, allowing me to stay well ahead of the competition.” The 6.5 Creedmoor is quickly becoming a dominating force in both precision and tactical events.

The FNH Midwest 3 Gun Championships, May 21-23, at the Fire For Effect Range in Fayette, Missouri can be summed up in one word; muddy. That didn’t stop Team Hornady member Barry Dueck from winning the Tactical Optics Heavy division. Barry shot Hornady TAP FPD 110 gr 308 Winchester and 9mm XTP bullets from his STI.

“The 308 110 gr TAP FPD is an extremely accurate round with low recoil, which makes it easy to get through stages quickly and precisely,” he said.

About:
Hornady Ammunition

Grand Island, NE --(AmmoLand.com)- Two world class shooters teamed up recently in Gillette, Wyoming to win the International Tactical Rifleman’s Championship for their sixth career win. Team Hornady shooters Bennie Cooley and Michael Voigt competed amongst 27 other teams comprised of Special Forces, law enforcement and military personnel over three days to win the ultimate tactical shooting championship.

The event challenges each two man team with various shooting scenarios involving pistol targets to 50 years, carbine targets to 500 yards, and precision rifle targets to 1,000 yards. Strategy and communication are paramount between the team partners. One partner ranges and calls shots as the shooter contends with shifting winds and mirage while trying to neutralize hidden targets masked by unforgiving terrain with the least amount of rounds fired.

Bennie Cooley said, “Michael and I specifically shot Hornady ammunition over the three days of competition because we were dealing with all sorts of weather conditions and the ammo performed flawlessly. I used the 6.5mm 140 grain A-MAX bullet handloaded for my JP Rifle and 9mm 115 grain Critical Defense round for my pistol and the 223 Remington 40 grain V-MAX for my carbine and as expected the ammunition proved why Hornady is the best out there.”

Steve Johnson, Hornady Marketing Communications Manager, said “Bennie and Michael’s win really drives home the fact that when our ammunition is truly put to the test in field conditions by two of the best shooters in the world, it’s a combination that’s unbeatable.”

For further information regarding our products visit the Hornady website. www.hornady.com

About:<br

Winning all eight stages, shot on natural open terrain was quite a challenge as Mother Nature’s unpredictability presented various lighting conditions along with wet and muddy loose gravel for competitors to struggle with.

Moots, a member of Team Hornady for over three years selected Hornady 45 Auto 230 grain XTP ammo in his STI 1911 and 308 155 grain TAP FPD in his DPMS LR-308. Always looking for new shooting adventures, Tate also competes in Sniper Matches using Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor 140 A-MAX ammunition.

After winning the Heavy Metal Class, Tate said, “Hornady ammunition never fails me. Hornady ammo always does just what it’s suppose to, it always performs.”

“The heavy metal class requires an extra level of focus due to increased recoil and iron sighted rifles, it’s critical that the ammunition performs flawlessly, guys like Tate make it look easy, and we’ll keep doing our best to make them look good.” said Steve Johnson, Hornady Marketing Communications Manager.

Founded in 1949, Hornady Manufacturing Company is a family owned business headquartered in Grand Island, Nebraska. Competitive shooting is my full time job that I train so hard for; I can’t afford to have any mishaps and for me Hornady is there each and every time.”

“Having the support of my family going into this match was important, but having Hornady as one of my sponsors providing me with quality products allows me to perform correctly and I’m able to focus entirely on the match itself.”

The XTP bullet’s profile is designed to deliver flawless function in a variety of handgun platforms, and the jacket extends forward so there’s no chance of bullet deformation on the feed ramp.

The XTP is purpose-built for semi-auto handguns and its hollow point design shifts the center of gravity rearward to provide the most stable flight possible; which translates to exceptional accuracy on the range.

Hornady Manufacturing Company is the world’s largest privately owned manufacturer of premium bullets and ammunition.
