Golden, CO --(AmmoLand.com)- Michael Janich, noted author, personal-defense instructor, and co-host of The Best Defense television series, is proud to announce that he has joined Spyderco, Inc. of Golden, Colorado, as their Special Projects Coordinator.

Janich is the author of more than two dozen books and instructional videos and a world-renowned personal-defense expert. He is also an accomplished knife designer and a columnist and active contributor to several national magazines.

Spyderco, Inc. revolutionized the knife industry in 1981, literally inventing the modern folding knife and pioneering all of its defining characteristics, such as the pocket clip, front lock, serrated edge, and one-handed opening via their trademark round hole. Since then, they have excelled as an industry leader, earning countless awards and patents for their knife design and innovation.

As Special Projects Coordinator, Janich will help drive Spyderco’s support of the law enforcement and military communities, providing specialized consultation, product selection and training recommendations to fit unique unit policies and mission requirements. He will also assume a leading role in product education and training, ensuring that all Spyderco products are supported by the most thorough, professionally produced reference and educational materials possible.

Consistent with Spyderco’s beliefs in an individual’s right to ethical, responsible personal protection, Janich will continue to provide training in his acclaimed Martial Blade Concepts (MBC) system and related programs. He will also continue to share his knowledge and insights through his writing, video production, and as co-host of Outdoor Channel’s award-winning The Best Defense television show.

Janich, who designed two knives for Spyderco and taught his MBC program under their auspices from 2000-2004, commented “I am extremely grateful and proud to join a company that I have always respected as the most innovative and quality-focused in the industry.
