Chiappa Background:
It began in 2000. The full history of this Italian designed firearm is far too extensive for this press release, but a few facts may help you. The Rhino is NOT the semi-automatic revolver referred to as the Mateba (Accurately written as Ma.te.ba.). The Ma.te.ba. and Rhino are both designed by Emilo Ghisoni which may explain why the guns look similar. Mr. Ghisoni and his friend and financial supporter Antonio Gudazzo completed the project. When Mr. Ghisoni passed away in April 2008Mr. Cudazzo then took the gun design to Mr. Rino Chiappa, proprietor of the Chiappa Group (Italy) of which Chiappa Firearms is a subsidiary.

Mr. Chiappa then contacted Ron Norton of Chiappa Firearms, Ltd. (a subsidiary responsible for the developing of Chiappa products in North America) and the Rhino revolver finally begun production in 2009. The result is the Rhino, a different looking highly-functional, ultra-smooth action revolver with a purpose-engineered recoil controlling ergonomic design.

The Rhino is designed reduce its carry profile. This design is even carried into the hexagonal shaped cylinder making for a flatter profile when carried (especially handy for legal concealed carry).

The Rhino looks different, Why? The looks are the direct result of the innovative ergonomic improvements.Then again who would have thought a few years ago that fiberglass stocks (in color and with patterns) would one day be routinely accepted on traditional wood sporting rifles or that pink revolvers would be a rage?

FAIRFAX, Va. --(Ammoland.com)- The final conference report on the combined Fiscal Year 2012 Agriculture, Commerce/Justice/Science (CJS) and Transportation/Housing/Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations bills—also known as the “Mini-Bus,” was passed by both the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate, and has been signed into law.

One of the most important ways that Congress has protected the Second Amendment is through a number of general provisions included in various appropriations bills. Many of these provisions have been included in the bills for many years—some of the provisions go back almost three decades.

This conference report is no exception, as it contains 12 provisions that strengthen the Second Amendment and protect the American people.

Specifically, the conference report makes PERMANENT the following protections:

• Firearms Database/National Gun Registry Prohibition. No funds may be used to create, maintain or administer a database of firearms owners or their firearms. This prohibition has been in place since Fiscal Year 1979, and prevents the federal government from establishing a national gun registry.
• Former Firearms Dealers Information Retrieval Prohibition. No funds may be used to electronically retrieve personally identifying information gathered by federal firearms licensees. The provision prohibits the creation of a gun registry from dealers’ records that are required by law to be surrendered to the federal government when a dealer goes out of business. This provision has been included since FY 1997.
• Information Gathering Prohibition/24-Hour Destruction of Records. A prohibition on the use of funds to retain any information gathered as a part of an approved instant background check for more than 24 hours. This provision protects the privacy of law-abiding gun buyers by prohibiting gun buyers’ personal information about legal gun purchases from being retained by government authorities for more than 24 hours after a firearm background check. It has been included since FY 1999. In addition, the conference report adds two NEW provisions designed to bolster our gun rights and protect the Second Amendment from unelected bureaucrats who would twist the law to facilitate their gun-control agenda.
• Prohibit Funding for “Gun Walking” Operations. No funds may be used to knowingly transfer firearms to agents of drug cartels unless U.S. law enforcement personnel control or monitor the firearms at all time. This amendment is designed to prevent the Justice Department (or any government entity) from spending taxpayer dollars on “gun walking” programs like Operation Fast and Furious.
• Shotgun Importation Protections. Prohibits the Department of Justice from requiring imported shotguns to meet a “sporting purposes” test that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) has used to prohibit the importation of shotguns with one or more features disliked by the Agency, such as adjustable stocks, extended magazine tubes, etc.

Finally, the conference report RETAINS the following provisions:

• Curio and Relic Definition. A prohibition on the use of funds to change the definition of a “curio or relic.” This provision protects the status of collectible firearms for future generations of firearms collectors.
• Physical Inventory Prohibition. Prohibition on a requirement to allow a physical inventory of Federal Firearms Licensees. The Clinton Administration proposed a rule in 2000 to require an annual inventory by all licensees. While the Bush Administration eventually withdrew the proposal, Congress has still passed this preventive provision every year since FY 2007.
  Business Activity. A prohibition on the use of funds to deny a Federal Firearms License (FFL) or renewal of an FFL on the basis of low business activity. This provision prohibits BATFE from denying federal firearms license applications or renewals based on a dealer’s low business volume alone.
• Firearms Trace Data Disclaimer. A requirement that any trace data released must include a disclaimer stating such trace data cannot be used to draw broad conclusion about firearms-related crime.
• Firearms Parts Export to Canada. A prohibition on the use of funds to require an export license for small firearms parts valued at less than $500 for export to Canada. This provision removed an unnecessary and burdensome requirement on U.S. gun manufacturers that was imposed under the Clinton Administration.
• Importation of Curios and Relics.A prohibition on the use of funds to arbitrarily deny importation of qualifying curio and relic firearms. This provision ensures that collectible firearms that meet all legal requirements for importation into the United States are not prevented from import by executive branch fiat.
  

  The Dreaded M1 Garand rifle feared by our current president and gun banners can continue to be imported under this rule.

• Transfer of BATFE Authority. A prohibition on the use of funds to transfer any duty or responsibility of the BATFE to any other agency or department. This provision was written in response to a Clinton Administration plan to transfer firearms enforcement to the FBI or Secret Service. It also prohibits the Executive branch from skirting the will of Congress by allowing another agency to implement policies the BATFE is prohibited from implementing.

The first is the Chiappa 1886 Traditional Trapper. The Chiappa Traditional Trapper’s action is modeled after the original Winchester 1886 but with today’s modern manufacturing and materials the result is a traditional looking 1886 with superior accuracy and strength.

The 1886 Kodiak Trapper is Chiappa’s second new .45-70 model and again uses the time-proven 1886 action. The barrel, action, hammer and lever are finished in weather resistant tough brushed electroless nickel.

The walnut stock is encased with a super tough armor like rubberized finish. Dayton, OH --(Ammoland.com)-  Recently there has been some blogger activity (credibility always guaranteed??) concerning Chiappa Firearms putting a RFID (radio frequency identification) in Chiappa Firearms.

Yes, but Chiappa will not be using the RFID system for at least a year.

RUMOR: (known as blogosphere food): The erroneous information about some sort of “chip” was put out by a blogger who translated Chiappa (Italian) technical information incorrectly.

The incorrect translation and his interpretation came out as some sort of a GPS type tracking “chip” -which RFID isn’t as it cannot transmit anything-it has NO power source (unlike cell phones).

THE FACTS: Recently several Italian gun makers (not just Chiappa) decided to utilize RFID technology to improve manufacturing and provide more accurate inventory control. We guarantee this technology will proliferate to other gun makers world wide as it is so efficient for everything from production QC control to export/import varification. Other industries already use passive RFID technology such as on DVDs, sunglasses, clothes and even some food products for example.

Basically Chiappa RFID (again it is radio frequency identification) assists the manufacturing process, inventory control and shipping. The type of information on the RFID ties in the firearm and proof house verification; the latter is required by the Italian Government for all firearms made in Italy. Passive RFID is also a final check that verifies that what is inside the sealed box is the same thing as shown on the box exterior bar code during shipping. Now, it will no longer be necessary to open/inspect hundreds of boxes by hand prior to packing in export containers.

BOTTOM LINE: The Chiappa PASSIVE RFID can be read ONLY when passed within (2-3 inches) of an active (and powered) reader that is dialed in for the particular long antenna radio frequency of the RFID-this is not random. And it will NOT go into operation for a year or more.

SUMMARIZING: RFIDs have NO power source or GPS locator. Rest assured they are NOT transmitting your identification and location information to a Chiappa Firearm tasked CIA satellite.

RFID Removal: For those still concerned you can simply remove the grip cover and remove the hot glued RFID from the frame in the grip area when (over a year from now) these begin to appear.

Others may prefer to wrap the revolver and their head in aluminum foil, curl in a ball and watch reruns of Mel Gibson’s 1997 film, Conspiracy Theory. Well, that’s a plan too!

Reintroduced at the 2010 NRA Annual Meetings as part of the limited Jeff Cooper Scout Commemorative Package, the gray-stocked Scout sparked a renaissance in Lt. Col. Jeff Cooper’s all-purpose scout-rifle concept that redefined the “one man operating alone” survival rifle more than a decade ago.

And now, Steyr Arms is pleased to announce that its Scout rifle is once again available with a gray stock in a rifle-only configuration.

With the rage over modern sporting rifles—or “mouse-guns” in Col. Cooper vernacular—and their increasingly burdensome array of accessories waning, common sense has seemingly returned to the American rifleman, as the Colonel’s lightweight, .308-caliber bolt-action, rabbits-to-elk, bug-out Steyr Scout rifle has eclipsed its initial sales figures.

It’s become so popular within the last 13 months that yet another company has made an attempt to emulate Col. Cooper’s intent. While Steyr heartily welcomes another horse to the race, the fact still stands that Col. Cooper joined forces with only one company when he sought to create a production Scout rifle. That company was Steyr Mannlicher, and the light, quick and accurate rifle that resulted after nearly a decade of collaboration between Steyr and Col. Cooper, was the Steyr Scout.

The gray-stocked Steyr Scout may well have been ahead of its time during its introduction in 1998. Several low-powered, long-eye-relief scopes are still available today, but the market is now teeming with one-power reflex sights that can be forward-mounted to provide the user with accurate fire and the ability to operate with both eyes open in order to immediately detect flanking dangers. Backup “ghost-ring” iron sights that rest snugly within the Steyr Scout’s profile can be deployed within seconds should the optics fail.

Colonel Cooper felt the 1903 Springfield’s magazine cutoff was a “superior device” to anything then produced, but Steyr filled Colonel’s prescription from a different direction with the incorporation of a newly designed two-position magazine system that allowed the rifle to be fed singly with the five-round magazine in a lowered position. The magazine could be seated one step further with minimal pressure, allowing the bolt to feed cartridges directly from the magazine. The Steyr Scout’s magazine then becomes flush fitting, and that is a feature that can be found on all current-production Steyr rifles with a double-stack removable-box magazine. An optional high-capacity magazine adaptor and 10-round magazines are also available for the Scout.

Steyr engineers knew that to build an optics-topped Scout rifle that weighed in at less than seven pounds—as Col. Cooper required—they would need to employ a polymer stock, but Steyr engineers surprised Cooper while taking the rifle to a new level when they showed him a bipod that was seamlessly integrated to the stock. An opening for a second box magazine was also designed within the buttstock to keep a backup five- or 10-round magazine held in ready reserve, flush along the bottom of the stock. Also seamlessly incorporated were five push-in-and-turn-to-lock sling swivels attachment points in the stock that would facilitate the addition of Cooper’s favored Ching Sling. This sling allows the shooter to lock himself into the rifle much in the same way as the loop sling allows the Marines of his beloved Corps to become one with their rifles in order to successfully engage targets at distances at 500 meters and beyond.

But Steyr wasn’t finished with the Scout concept just by showing him a few cool concepts that would aid the lone rifleman to shoot more accurately. Steyr’s engineers incorporated the newly designed Safe Bolt System (SBS) action into the Scout rifle to allow the shooter to carry a loaded firearm in an absolutely safe condition. The SBS action would quickly prove its roller-tang safety selector could be placed in a secondary safe position with a round in the chamber, and when the bolt lever was pushed down, the firing mechanism and firing pin would be locked out of position to fire, resulting in a safe firearm—even with a cartridge in the chamber.

The overall length of the Steyr Scout was kept within Col. Cooper’s maximum requirement of exactly one meter (39.4 inches) by way of a hair-splitting, cold-hammer-forged 20-inch barrel that was fluted for heat dissipation and weight reduction.

“Steyr has done a remarkable job of bringing my original concept to reality,” said Col. Cooper in 1998. “The Steyr Jeff Cooper Scout system is everything you could want in a lightweight, all-purpose rifle that can perform virtually any task!”

Proudly displaying Col. Cooper’s crest-of-arms inlaid in the stock, the reintroduction of the Steyr Scout in its original gray signifies a return to sanity for today’s rifleman and the challenges he may face. The Steyr Scout is still available in an all-black configuration as well as a Realtree pattern and a Timber woodgrain profile. NEWTOWN, Conn --(Ammoland.com)- Following the eleventh straight month-over-month increase in consumer firearms purchases, firearms and ammunition manufactures are reporting strong sales even with the down economy.

RUGER SALES UP 10.5 PERCENT IN FIRST QUARTER
Sturm, Ruger & Co. (NYSE:RGR) reported that first quarter sales increased 10.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Said Ruger CEO Michael Fifer, “The estimated sell-through of the company’s products from distributors to retailers in the first quarter of 2011 increased by approximately 12 percent from the first quarter of 2010 and 21 percent from the fourth quarter of 2010.”

Company sales and earnings beat Wall Street estimates for the quarter.

CABELA’S SEES GROWTH IN FIREARM SALES, REPORTS 1Q RESULTS
Outdoor retailer Cabela’s (NYSE:CAB) reported that first quarter comparable-store sales jumped 8.9 percent compared the same period last year.

“We realized gains in 12 of 13 product categories during the quarter, with the strongest growth coming from firearms, women’s and children’s, and hunting apparel,” CEO Tommy Millner said during the company’s earnings call.

OLIN REPORTS FIRST QUARTER WINCHESTER RESULTS
Olin Corp. (NYSE:OLN), makers of Winchester ammunition, reported that first quarter Winchester division sales were $136.6 million, up from $131.4 million in the first quarter of 2010.

The company reported that segment income declined 35 percent in the quarter, reflecting the impact of higher commodity metals and other material costs, higher manufacturing costs and costs associated with the relocation of its centerfire operations to Mississippi.

In a survey conducted by HunterSurvey.com, more than 40 percent of sportsmen said they intend to purchase a new rifle in 2011, while nearly a quarter of them anticipate buying a shotgun.

“This is great news for firearms manufacturers. While we know many people who want a new firearm won’t actually get around to buying one, the level of interest among active hunters and shooters is shows there is still strength in the market,” said Rob Southwick, president of Southwick Associates, which designs and conducts the surveys at HunterSurvey.com and AnglerSurvey.com.

“Continued increases in NICS background checks and excise tax collections show the firearms sector is performing much better than the overall economy, and it looks like growth might continue in the near future.”

The news bodes well for our nation’s gun makers and dealers, many of them small businesses that provide jobs for tens of thousands of Americans. When asked by HunterSurvey.com what hunting and shooting products they planned on purchasing in 2011, 41.1 percent said their purchases would include a rifle and 23.9 percent will buy a shotgun.

As of today, ATI has exclusive Worldwide rights to distribute all of B&D’s products.

B&D is a relatively new, up and coming company whose products include the ExD-37, a 37mm launcher that has found wide acceptance in the law enforcement community.

Their line includes a pistol configuration launcher (the SML-37) and a consumer oriented launcher (TBL-37). Their newest product offering, the UBL-37, is an under barrel 37mm launcher that is convertible to a shoulder configuration and is being introduced at this year’s Shot Show in Las Vegas.
