Columbia, MO --(Ammoland.com)- “MidwayUSA will continue to be a non-stop supporter of youth hunting, shooting and hunter’s education,” says Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA.

“We believe in supporting programs whose mission is to preserve the future of youth shooting sports. The rifles we’re donating to YSSA will be auctioned off and the proceeds will directly benefit their Equipment Loan Program.”

In 2010, the YSSA developed a practical plan to organize and administer an industry-wide firearms loaner program for supporting youth programs. The inventory available for loan currently stands at nearly 400 firearms and includes rifles, shotguns and pistols. Because of the popularity of this program with Boy Scout Councils, 4-H and other shooting sports programs, the loaner inventory is expected to double by the summer of 2013.

“The majority of shooting sports equipment is needed by youth programs for limited or seasonal use,” said Steve Miller, Executive Director of YSSA.

“Equipment may be intensively used during selected seasons and languish in storage for the remainder of the year. This noteworthy donation in support of our Equipment Loan Program will allow the YSSA to provide more efficient support to youth shooting sports programs.”

MidwayUSA wanted each rifle shipped with a case, and Plano Molding Company supported this effort by donating over 500 cases to the YSSA to use for this program.

“Plano is proud to partner with Larry and Brenda Potterfield in this generous donation to the YSSA,” said Steve Jongebloed, Director of Sales for Plano Molding Company.

“Whether it be a youngster’s first gun case or first tackle box, Plano has been a proud supporter of youth outdoor education since 1952.”

East Alton, IL - -(AmmoLand.com)- Winchester Ammunition recently pledged a charitable donation to the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance, showing its continued support and commitment to the younger generation of shooters.

“Winchester Ammunition has generously provided all of the shotgun target loads and rimfire target cartridges requested in support of our priority youth shooting sports programs,” said Steve Miller, executive director of YSSA.

“It is a pleasure to work in partnership with a company like Winchester Ammunition that shares our passion for recruiting and retaining youth in the shooting sports.”

Winchester Ammunition has been a long-time supporter of youth shooting safety and youth shooting sports programs. Winchester and the YSSA’s long-standing relationship began with the inception of the YSSA on July 25, 2007.

“It’s important to our company, our customers, our industry and future generations that we actively support organizations such as the YSSA,” said Dick Hammett, President of Winchester Ammunition.

“The YSSA meets the challenge of assessing priority programs and supporting those needs for continued success. We are proud to work with them to ensure the future of the shooting sports industry for many generations to come.”

The Youth Shooting Sports Alliance addresses two important challenges regarding the recruitment and retention of new shooters: identify and support the needs of successful and safe youth programs, and provide leadership in the development and promotion of family-friendly shooting range facilities to encourage continued participation in the shooting sports. Introducing young people to the pleasures and responsibilities of shooting is the YSSA’s most important task in ensuring that our shooting and hunting traditions remain intact.
