Bob Delfay to Help Guide Partnership Development Initiative for GunBroker.com
GunBroker.com (www.gunbroker.com) , the world’s largest online auction site for firearms and hunting/shooting accessories, has signed industry veteran Bob Delfay to help guide a new industry partnership initiative.
Until now, GunBroker.com has focused on building its base of buyers and sellers, and has not solicited industry advertising or marketing partnerships. That is all about to change, according to Steve Urvan, GunBroker.com founder and CEO.
“Increasingly, friends in the industry have encouraged us to provide structured access to our large audience of hunting and shooting equipment buyers,” Urvan commented. “We think the time is right to pursue a limited number of partnerships and we are very pleased that Bob Delfay has agreed to work with us in that effort. Bob is not only well-known and respected in the industry; he also has a unique understanding of the overall hunting and shooting sports community, including sportsmen’s organizations, conservation groups and media.”
Urvan added, “To the greatest extent possible, when we structure a partnership on GunBroker.com we want to be sensitive to the needs of the manufacturer, the consumer and the entire hunting and shooting community. We could probably just sell banner ads and be successful, but our aim is to go beyond that.”
Launched in 1999, GunBroker.com’s traffic has accelerated to where the site now receives as many as 1.75 million unique visitors per month. According to the Web site measurement service Hitwise, GunBroker.com ranks third in the United States “Shopping and Classifieds – Auctions” category exceeded only by eBay and eBay Motors. GunBroker.com is ranked by QuantCast among the 2,000 largest U.S. web sites of any kind.
GunBroker.com and Delfay, a past president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), launched their partnership at the recent NSSF Shooting Sports Summit in Colorado Springs. There, Delfay met with a number of industry leaders to initiate discussions on how access to GunBroker.com’s 1.75 million visitors can best serve individual companies specifically and the industry in general.
“GunBroker.com is obviously at the cutting edge of hunting and shooting sports marketing but they have also proven their commitment to fostering the future of our hunting and shooting sports heritage,” Delfay said. “I think it speaks volumes about the vision and the integrity of this company that they were providing the NRA, the NSSF and the Hunting Heritage Trust with free access to their online audience long before they considered commercial partnerships.”
While advising GunBroker.com, Delfay will continue to serve in his capacity as president of the Hunting Heritage Trust.
Urvan noted that announcements of additional industry partnerships, some of which have been in the planning stages for several months, are likely in the near future.
