Manasquan, NJ –-(Ammoland.com)- We enjoy the sentiment in this song and its fitting title in regards to the Ammoland News and Business Directory.

Some back ground on the song: “Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition”; was written by Frank Loesser and recorded by Kay Kyser and his Orchestra, released in 1943 on Columbia records. According to the song a chaplain (“sky pilot”) was with some fighting men who were being attacked by an enemy. (Generally given at the time to be the Japanese at Pearl Harbor.)

He was asked to say a prayer for the men who were engaged in the firing at the on-coming Japanese planes. The chaplain; the song went on to infer, put down his bible, manned one of the ship's gun turrets and begin firing back, saying, “Praise The Lord and pass the ammunition”.

As an Air Force airport firefighter (1978 – 1982) I had to learn the B-52 inside and out. I was assigned with SAC (Strategic Air Command) to a group of B-52’s on the ready line that stayed loaded with “hot nukes” ready to go on a moments notice. If you’ve never seen one come in for a landing as it “crabs” in, you don’t know what you’re missing. And, you haven’t lived until a .50 cal tail gun tracks your every move because someone forgot to turn it off. So, pass the ammo until you do!
