New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Urges Governor to Sign Hunting Bill
TROY, NY – -(AmmoLand.com)- The State legislature has passed companion bills A-8302A and S-5500A allowing for permanent big game rifle hunting in Madison County.
Last year the legislature approved a one-year trial period for rifle hunting in the county.
The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association thanks Assemblyman William Magee and Senator David Valesky for sponsoring these bills, and we encourage Gov.
Paterson to sign them promptly so the law will be in effect during this fall’s hunting season.

I have a n.y.s. pistol permit and I want to hunt out of state, but some states only honor permits provided in their state. Can the law be changed so all states would honor n.y.s. pistol permits during hunting seasons?Stephen Ross
Stephen:
You are talking about 2 different things. Pistol or CCW permits have nothing to do with Hunting permits. You need a separate license to hunt and 99% of the time that hunting lic will be honored in other states as long as you buy a non resident lic in the state you want to hunt in.
CCW permits are another thing all together and much has been done to improve reciprocity on CCW. Read here for the latest attempts to fix this problem.
