Belmar, NJ –-( I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to all of you for your involvement and support in helping to reestablish conservation and an outdoor culture in New Jersey.

Since 2007 the anglers, hunters, trappers, foresters, divers, hikers and bikers have made tremendous strides in educating others about the environmental benefits of conservation.

Collectively we have helped to create the state’s first angling and hunting conservation caucus, successfully pushed to have Sunday Bowhunting signed into law, held rallies to publicize our cause at Mullica Hill, Clarksburg and New Egypt, helped to elect or reelect seven outdoor minded legislators and have impressed upon towns such as Wall Township and those that border the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers that hunting and fishing are the foundation of good public policy.

Recently, we all made a tremendous statement by playing a large role in the election New Jersey’s chief executive, Governor-elect Chris Christie, and the state’s first Lt. Governor-elect, Kim Guadagno. The outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen of New Jersey have proven that we are a constituency whose numbers can not be dismissed. In recognition of our contributions to environmental stewardship and good public policy the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance Conservation Foundation was selected to represent our outdoor interests on Governor elect Christie’s Transition Team for Environmental Protection.

These are colossal accomplishments for which each of us is responsible. Of course, much work remains to be done towards educating the public about the principles of conservation and ensuring our freedoms to fish, hunt, trap and practice sound conservation methodology. However, history is proving that we have growing numbers of people furthering this cause.

What began as an idea to unite anglers, hunters and trappers has now been adopted by a majority of conservationists and has become a thunderous reality. As we continue to work together we can be optimistic that we will accomplish much more. In the interim, please accept my sincerest thanks for all of your efforts.

Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year.
