Belmar, NJ –-(Ammoland.com)- It is with great pleasure that I welcome Mr. Leonard Wolgast, PhD, as the newest Trustee of the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance, New Jersey Outdoor Alliance Conservation Foundation and New Jersey Outdoor Alliance Environmental Projects.

Len joins current Trustees; Ed Markowski, Pete Grimbilas, Jerry Natale and Anthony Mauro.

Len has an impressive history with our great outdoors. He is professor emeritus of wildlife ecology and management, Rutgers University. He has been a member of the New Jersey Fish and game Council since 2004. Also, Len has contributed to the development of New Jersey’s Comprehensive Black Bear Management Policy.

Len’s former students became some of New Jersey’s most prominent wildlife biologists and officials. The list includes the former chiefs of law enforcement, wildlife management, as well as the present chiefs of fisheries, land management and nongame and endangered species.

However, just as importantly to all of us conservationists, Len’s love of the outdoors began when fishing as a boy and to this day he continues bass fishing in Canada, fishing on his boat, the “Beagle,” in Raritan Bay, and angling for peacock bass in Brazil. He also turkey hunts on his Christmas tree farm, as well as in five other states and Mexico, and hunts deer in New Jersey and West Virginia.

I’ve known Len, and his delightful wife Cathy, for more than three years and have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to rabbit hunt with them and three of their beagles on several occasions. I can assure everyone that you won’t find people more committed to conservation and environmental stewardship than Len and Cathy.

The outdoor community is fortunate to be represented by many professionals willing to volunteer their time toward the betterment of angling, hunting, trapping and conservation in NJ. We at the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance are honored to have so many of these volunteers associated with our organization.

Welcome, Len.
