NJOA Endorses Senator Donald Norcross in District 5 Race
Belmar, NJ –-(Ammoland.com)- Senator Donald Norcross is running in the general election and after careful review has received the endorsement of the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance.
Senator Norcross became senate co-chair of the New Jersey Angling and Hunting Conservation Caucus in May, 2010 and was instrumental in arranging the Fall 2010 meeting in Trenton. His legislative record and position as co-chair of the NJAHCC have demonstrated his commitment to environmental stewardship.
During the recent NJAHCC meeting he said, “As a skin diver and also someone who enjoys fishing I recognize the important economic and environmental contributions made on behalf of our state’s natural resources by the outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen of New Jersey.”
During his time in office Senator Norcross has voted for every NJOA supported bill, each of which were signed into law by Governor Christie.
These bills include:
- Bill: A2304 Revised statute concerning licenses to take menhaden.
- Bill: S1181 Changed perimeter for bow and arrow hunting.
- Bill: S1776 Authorizes counties to develop community based deer management plans and apply for special deer management permits for county-owned lands.
According to Anthony Mauro, Chairman, NJOA, “Senator Norcross is already working to advance legislation that would help to introduce urban and suburban grade school children K-12 to the outdoors through a nationally recognized drug prevention program known as “Hooked On Fishing—Not On Drugs” (HOF-NOD).” Mauro continued,
“This program can be integrated into a school’s curriculum or offered by community groups, like churches and service organizations. It does not make use of taxpayer funds but more importantly exposes youth to our natural world with a proven program that prevents drug usage.”
It should be noted that although November 2010 is an off-year for state elections there are a few districts that will hold general elections due to vacancies.
One such district is important to the outdoorsmen and outdoorsmen of New Jersey – Legislative District 5. The 5th District covers portions of both Camden and Gloucester Counties and includes the following municipalities: Audubon; Barrington; Bellmawr; Brooklawn; Camden City; Deptford; Gloucester City; Haddon Heights; Hi-Nella; Lawnside; Magnolia; Mount Ephraim; Runnemede; Somerdale; Stratford; Westville; Woodbury; Woodbury Heights; and Woodlynne.
Please join the NJOA in supporting Senator Norcross.
Date to remember: November 2, 2010 General Election Day (polls open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
Thank you.Anthony P. Mauro, Sr.
