FARMINGDALE, NEW YORK –-(Ammoland.com)- Mako Defense (www.makodefense.com), the training division of The Mako Group (“Mako”), headquartered in Farmingdale, NY, is pleased to confirm that the techniques are the same techniques taught in all Mako Defense’s Israeli Special Forces Tactical and Self-Defense Shooting courses.

These are the same used by Israel’s elite police counter-terror unit, Yamam, that won the international Urban Shield counter-terror competition in Oakland, California on October 16-18, 2010 (www.urbanshield.org),

The Yamam unit competed against 27 top-rated police and federal SWAT teams from around the world.

The eight-member Israeli unit not only won this prestigious competition, but their point score set a record for the highest score ever achieved in the history of the competition, breaking a world record!

Yaman employs the Israeli Method of fighting. This is the exact same skills and methods, taught by Mako Defense instructors “GP” and “GM” (only initials are used for security reasons), who are former members of Yamam.

The Urban Shield competition consists of reacting to a variety of scenarios in the war on terrorism, taking control of terrorists holding hostages, and more. In Israel, Yamam specializes in hostage-rescue operations and offensive take-over raids against targets in civilian areas. It also performs SWAT duties and undercover police work.

“Mako Defense congratulates the Israeli Yamam unit on its first place win in the 2010 Urban Shield worldwide competition,” says Addy Sander, The Mako Group’s CEO. “Mako Defense is pleased to be able to continue to offer this high level of expertise in our training courses for U.S. law enforcement, military, and security personnel. In addition, we have learned that Israel’s Yamam uses the Mako Group’s NFR quad rail system and TAL-4 vertical grip with battery compartment as well as other Mako Group weapons accessories to help them in their work.”

The Israeli Method, forged in a society that is under the constant threat of violent terror attacks, is designed to be as practical for off-duty police or civilians shopping in a mall as it is for Special Forces soldiers operating behind enemy lines. It can be effectively used by an individual operating alone, a team of two, a SWAT team, or an infantry platoon. Because of this flexibility, the techniques taught in the Mako Defense courses are applicable to personal self-defense as well as to law enforcement work and military operations.

While Mako Defense courses are the ultimate in self-defense training, they are specifically designed to increase the proficiency of law enforcement, military, and security personnel. There are four Israeli Special Forces Tactical and Self-Defense Shooting Courses: Carbine I, Carbine II, Pistol I, and Pistol II. Each course is limited to 15 participants.
