Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation Mourns The Passing of Gene Bishop
Washington, DC –-(Ammoland.com)- The sportsmen’s community lost a valued friend yesterday with the passing of Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation Board of Directors member and well known Georgia businessman and sportsman, Gene Bishop of Dawsonville, Georgia.
“We are all deeply saddened at the passing of a wonderful man and great supporter of hunting and fishing,” said CSF President Jeff Crane.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy and the rest of Gene’s family.”
“Gene was a great friend to me both personally and professionally and to sportsmen throughout Georgia and the nation, and he will be missed by all those whose lives he has touched through the years,” said former Congressman Lindsay Thomas, Chairman of the CSF Board of Directors.
Bishop was a lifetime hunter, angler and conservationist who served on the CSF Board of Directors as well as the board of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
He was past national president of the Jaycees' U.S. Junior Chamber International Senate, former president of the North Fulton County Chamber of Commerce, president of the Georgia Health Care Association and regional vice-president, first vice-president and national president of the American Health Care Association.
Gene also served as Georgia Southern University Boosters Chairman of the Board, where the Bishop Field House at Paulson Stadium on the university campus was named in his honor in 2007.
