Sportsman Channel’s Q2 Programming Lineup
Offers New, Original Series and Returning Favorites.

New Berlin, WI (March 25, 2011) – Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American Sportsman, announced today a substantial second quarter lineup of new series and returning shows to debut Monday, March 28. The network will premiere 13 new series during the quarter from several independent production companies, including Orion Multimedia and Banded Productions.
“Sportsman Channel is committed to adding high-quality, HD programming year ‘round. This is normally a slower time of year for shows to premiere and you can see how we are taking a contrarian approach with the debuts of thirteen new series,” said Gavin Harvey, Sportsman Channel CEO.
“Plus, InterMedia Outdoors has new seasons of Handguns and Modern Rifle Adventures starting this quarter.”
In addition to Dr. Deer presented by Winchester Ammunition, other new series debuting the week of March 28 include, Dead Dog Walkin’, Ultimate Shot, Trophy State of Mind, Doc Outdoors, Foul Hook’d, The Camp, Sporting Dog Adventures, Veteran Outdoors, Hook, Line & Skillet, Getting Guided, Canada in the Rough and The Edge.
Returning viewer favorites include: Handguns (third season), Modern Rifle Adventures (second season), Trout Unlimited: On the Rise (fourth season), Buckventures Outdoors (seventh season) and FlatsClass (fifth season)
Sportsman Channel is currently in 27 million homes after announcing several launches during the past several quarters, including Cablevision in the New York metro area, HD launch with Comcast Albuquerque and migration from Sports Tier to Digital Basic on Comcast Orlando. Sportsman Channel is poised to make several additional carriage announcements throughout the remainder of the year.
Dr. Deer presented by Winchester Ammunition: Co-hosts Dr. James Kroll and Gordon Whittington provide viewers unprecedented access into the diverse world of deer. While the show’s primary focus will be on whitetails, there will also be unique content on all other deer from North America and beyond. No other whitetail hunting show is devoted wholly to the hunting, natural history and management of the various deer species, some of which are virtually unknown to the hunting public.

Doc Outdoors – “Doc” is Dr. Gordon Roeder, who has earned a reputation as one of the world’s premier big game hunters. Each show will take viewers vicariously down paths traveled in life that move passions into actions that form us as a person, sometimes constructively, sometimes destructively. It is a reality show about hunting and the life lessons learned in the wilds that lead to fun, sharing, and challenging oneself mentally and physically.
Foul Hook’d – Foul Hook’d is a docu-comedy about four bone-heads trying to produce a low budget fishing show. The show is a behind-the-scenes view of what it takes to put together a low-rent television production. The docu-comedy format reveals the characters who work behind the cameras and the lives they lead away from the show. The result is a comedic, search for the perfect fishing show host. The Camp – Everyone has dreamed of having a quiet little cabin or shack in the forest to enjoy a peaceful life. The Camp show allows spectators a privileged view of nature in the comfort of their own living room. Sporting Dog Adventures – Sporting Dog Adventures is truly a show that is for the dogs! Throughout our season viewers will go on a journey to see high octane working dogs in the field, training and on many more exciting adventures. The show is family oriented with segments such as Couples Corner and Kids Corner. There will also be veterinarian segments dealing with the care and health of dogs, training segments for different sporting dog breeds, and an occasional cooking segment teaching the viewer how to care and prepare wild game.
Veteran Outdoors – Veteran Outdoors (VO) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor our country’s wounded veterans’ patriotism and their sacrifice by providing quality hunting, fishing and outdoor related activities. VO’s goal is to raise public awareness about the therapeutic effects being in the outdoors actually has on the mental and physical disabilities of our country’s wounded men and women. The series will also provide a platform for veterans to tell their own stories in their own words
Getting Guided – Hosted by Lance Gleason, Getting Guided gives viewers an unprecedented glimpse into the life of a fishing guide. Each episode focuses on one trip with one group of clients and reveals the compelling dynamics of guided fishing adventures- from preparation and travel, to the tense stalk of the fish itself, to the end-of-day excursions into cultures both familiar and foreign. Getting Guided embraces the thrills, challenges, excitement and heartbreak involved with totally submersing oneself in the fishing world.
Canada in the Rough – Canada In The Rough is as unpredictable as the hunts it documents. Each week we feature an extraordinary hunt for a different game species.
