Federal Premium’s IHEA Volunteer Instructor of the Year: Ricky Moss

More than 70,000 IHEA instructors reach nearly 750,000 hunter education students annually. Ricky Moss’ accolades highlight the strength of IHEA’s mission in the U.S. and internationally. In 2010, he was involved in 45 hunter education courses that certified 2,095 students. He also recruited 25 additional volunteer instructors. Federal Premium Ammunition sponsors the award, and treated Ricky to an all-expense paid trip to accept his award and attend the IHEA conference in Wrightsville Beach, N.C.

An IHEA selection committee selected the finalists and a panel of knowledgeable judges deemed Ricky the award winner. Ray Metzler, Hunter Education Coordinator for the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries, nominated Ricky for his outstanding efforts and positive impact helping execute IHEA’s mission.

Strong, Strengthening Partnership
Federal has sponsored IHEA for more than a decade. The company also donated a complete set of hunter education instruction materials to each of the three award finalists. Many educational materials are also available to volunteer instructors at reduced costs through Federal’s website, at www.federalpremium.com/hunters_education/educational_materials.aspx.

Federal’s strong stance for hunter education also earned the company a seat on the IHEA Foundation Board—to be filled by Federal Premium Conservation Manager Ryan Bronson. This foundation raises money to support the activities and mission of the IHEA organization. It is composed of representatives from the firearms, hunting and shooting industry.

“Volunteer instructors have always been the lifeblood of hunter education,” said Federal Premium Conservation Manager Ryan Bronson. “We sponsor the Instructor of the Year award as a way of recognizing the hunters and shooters who donate their time to pass on our heritage. Hunting and shooting are safe—and getting safer each year in large part because of the foundation being set by instructors like Ricky Moss.”

Federal supports numerous conservation organizations, participates in many ammunition royalty programs, and provides many shooting sports educational materials. To learn more about Federal’s support, please visit http://www.federalpremium.com/hunters_education/programs.aspx.
